It really wasn't the same, especially since you couldn't easily access the base from just anywhere. (Like, if your base is in the Resort Area of Sinnoh, you can't get to it from, like Hearthome City.) It was kind of a blower. Hopefully, they'll bring back what they did in R/S/E and let you build them off the actual Routes if they do bring that feature back. One feature that would be really cool is if you could link with a friend and play with them in real-time (i.e. walk down a Route with them, double-battle with them, etc.) It would probably be the closest thing to an MMORPG we would get. :V As far as Mint-kun the Hawtness goes, he does look more like a rival than a Gym Leader... A far more sinister-looking rival than Silver could ever hope to be (and a lot more mature, to boot), but definitely more of a rival than anything. I also don't know if they'd actually bring in referees like in the anime, since that may slow down the battle speed. But then again, Isshu is a brand new region and may have customs that we're not yet familiar with. Unless they give out more information about how the battle system will work, we'll have to wait until the spoiler leaks come out from Japan in September. EDIT: Hoooly hell, there are apparently gonna be three-on-three battles now. ._.

You also don't have to just go to a GameStop to get it. If you have Wi-Fi at home, you can get it off the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. I just did for mine. As far as the new character, whom I'm dubbing Mint-kun, all I can say is "hay, sexy". :V

O hay, look at the casual observation I made.

Yeah, depending on what position they're in in the line-up is usually who gets attacked more often. However, some enemies do actually base their attacks off of the defense stat, but that's just because they're mean as hell. =p

I have to say, that's some pretty sexy-looking gameplay action. I was kinda of wondering just what kind of options were going to be available (especially after reading Game Informer's preview article about the game), but I'm glad that it has some feel of MvC2 to it, though the updated features seem to be a really nice touch. Aerial tagging looks like it's going to be a major strategic point, from that video. Should prove interesting.

I would actually recommend putting enough points in Angelo's Charisma to get Sarcastic Snigger. Taking down an enemy's Tension (even if it is only by one stage) can really save you in a tight spot. As far as skill builds go, it really depends on whether you want to go for the Dragovian Trials after you beat the game. If you do, you'd be wise to put points in Hero's Spears to get Mercurial Thrust and in Yangus' Axes to Executioner. The reason for that is, once you get to the Dragon Graveyard and Slime Hill, you can grind a lot easier against Metal Slime Kings. Fast little buggers and hard as hell to kill. But yeah, as far as main attack power goes, I would focus on Swords for Hero (and enough points in Boomerangs to get Power Throw for large enemy groups), Axes for Yangus, Whips/Staves for Jessica (her eventually getting Kazing is so damn helpful) and Swords/Staves for Angelo (once you get the Shamshir of Light for him, he's a one-man army). James, as far as advice goes, early in the game, always keep some Chimera Wings on you, so you can travel back to safety quickly if you happen to be grinding and get really low on health/healing items. You'll also want to quickly put enough points in Hero's Courage to get Evac so you can escape from a dungeon for the same reason. Once you get Jessica, be sure to always keep her at the back of the party, because she doesn't have enough defense to be put anywhere else. Other than that, it's all up to you.

Right, then. The RP is still active and whatnot, as proven by the bit of action that's happening up north. No one outside those in Blackthorn may be aware of it, and even then, messages from Mahogany are touchy at best, thanks to the squall wreaking havoc on the communications line. The main reason I wanted to post, though, is for the people that aren't that familiar with the terrain. I managed to snag the HG/SS version of the Johto map from Bulbapedia, so I'm posting it here (complete with location names) for people that are unfamiliar with the region. Link To Map Because It's Fracking Big So there you are. I'll be trying to find the Kanto Map soon and get it posted, too. Happy RPing. EDIT: So I finally managed to get ahold of the Kanto map, so I decided to splice the both of them together for an entire region map. Again, everything is labeled for your convenience. Link to Kanto-Johto Region Map Hope that helps. The howl of the winds from the snowstorm; the flapping and screeching of birds all over the skies; the explosions from successful hits on the ground; the crumbling and crackling of buildings and homes as they either collapsed or were consumed by flames. All of these noises combined together in Mahogany Town to create a deafening din that no one could escape. The fight that had erupted from the air raid Falkner had ordered was far more than either side had expected it would be. What was meant to be a simple air strike had become an all-out battle between the two forces, the squadron from Violet City using their mount's abilities and Delibird to bomb the ground below and the few citizens and trainers from Mahogany fighting back with their own Pokemon using Ice Beams and any other attacks that could possibly reach their high-flying opponents. The flying assaulters were fairing much better than the people on the ground, being able to dodge most of the attacks, but the noise and the violent winds from the storm were beginning to take their toll on the troops, as evidenced by more and more people being hit by attacks from the ground. Faulkner kept to his small detachment and observed the mess below as they flew along the outskirts of the battle. â??I didn't expect them to put up this much of a fight,â? he thought to himself. â??I guess an old dog can still have some bite to it.â? Gloria flew her Fearow under the right wing of Faulkner's Pidgeot, flagging his attention. â??The winds are getting stronger,â? she signed. â??If we're going to strike, we should do it now and get everyone back on the ground, sir.â? â??I agree,â? he signed back. â??Things are starting to get out of hand. Spread out in formation and drop when I give the signal.â? * There was nothing but confusion on the ground. No one knew where to run for cover thanks to the unpredictable attack patterns of the troops in the skies. Women and children were running in the streets, too frightened to stay out of open areas, while the braver citizens with Pokemon were trying to help the trainers that were fighting back against the air raiders. But the results were nothing but a hodgepodge of sloppy attacks that were barely doing anything but scattering the attackers for a short time before they reconverged and struck back a lot harder, though they had scored hits here and there. Several civilians and trainers were being injured, and it only looked like things would be getting worse. â??Sir, we don't know where they're wanting to hit next. We can't pin 'em down,â? shouted one of the trainers on the outside balcony of the Gym. â??And they're moving too quick to hit. We can't do nothin' against 'em!â? The crack from Pryce's cane rapping on the floor made the entire group stationed on the floor look at him. â??Nothin' worse than losin' your head in the middle of a battle. Only helps your opponent. Calm down and wait for a crack at 'em.â? Pryce hobbled his way out on the balcony, pulling his muffler up a bit higher on his neck. He set a hand on the head of his Piloswine, idly giving it a scratch. The beast gave out a small snort and shuffled closer to the old man, trying to give him a comforting nudge. It had noticed the frown that had settled onto its master's face and knew a high-bad temper was on the horizon. The old man gazed out over the western portion of the town, random attacks and skirmishes dotting the snow-packed streets. Nothing about the scene looked good and Pryce couldn't help but think that if things kept going the way they were, there were going to be more people dying than surviving the encounter. The people of Mahogany weren't used to battles and destruction on this scale. Mahogany was usually only a resort town at the most, a place for people to stop and stay for excursions to the Lake of Rage up north. But now, they had to fight to keep what was already theirs. There were people getting hurt and worse just because they were in a convenient area for strategic attack. Pryce knew that no one in the city would be able to cope with the change and things would go straight to hell quicker than someone could spit. He knew he had to put a stop to it before things went any further. â??Sir, there's a flock of people flying straight at us!â? Pryce snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the troop coming rapidly toward them. â??Line up along the railing and get ready to back me up, then.â? * Faulkner had just enough time to raise his arm to prepare to give the signal to send an attack wave toward the gym when his Pidgeot started bank to the right, trying to avoid the light blue beam of sheer ice cutting through the sky toward them. The rest of the detachment watched in shock as the left side of its breast and part of its wing, along with Faulkner's leg, got coated in a sheet of ice and the pair started falling from the sky, their speed and the howling winds carrying them toward the northern part of the town.
Considering how I used to look for Bleach at CR I have to say it's about time, but after hearing/seeing that CR charges a fee, I have to say "why?"
This, children, is what we call a "clever marketing strategy". If you don't mind being a week behind everyone else, then you can watch Bleach (or any other ongoing anime) for free a week after its original release, but if you want to be on the cusp of new episodes (not to mention get them commercial-free), you're gonna have to fork over the dough. Considering that you only have to pay about $7 USD a month and you get access to all the anime on the site commercial-free, I say it's a great deal, but the spoiled-rotten anime/manga fanbase (as Gome/Vivian put it) whine about that, despite how catered it is to them. If I could afford a subscription to CR, I would definitely get it, but with the recession and whatnot, it's just not feasible. Perhaps once things recover here in the U.S., people will be more willing to listen.

I think Boo's idea of making the time limit 72 hours is a good one. Three days should be plenty of time now that it's summer and people don't have that much to do (unless they have a job or so). But there should be an option for a small extension of extenuating circumstances or the person can opt to just be skipped for that go-round. As far as the project itself, I was thinking that something like an action-reaction thing could be fun, i.e. the first person draws a character doing something and the following artists draw a character reacting to that action. Once everyone has gone, the next person can start a new action chain. That's just a little idea. I dunno if it would work. Also, I'll be on vacation for the next week, so if I were to take part (which I want to), I'd rather it start after June 16. > >;

I speak English, mostly, but I also have a certificate in Japanese (though I need to start studying again to make a higher rank). I took French in high school, but it was many moons ago, so I've forgotten most of it. Though that was mostly from forcing myself to forget it because any language that just adds letters to a word to make it sound appealing is just plain goofy.

It's definitely possible for the companies to cater to what the fans want (instant access) and still get what they need (revenue). Like Anise said, Hulu is one of the better ways to go about this, since folks get anime with little commercial breaks and the companies still get ad revenue. CR would be a decent service if their Flash player weren't so terrible. D: But what really gets is that people always complain about anime not being on TV, but when there is anime on TV (with [adult swim] and the AniMonday block on SyFy), no one watches it. The companies (both the animation/licensing companies and the network) see this and will write it off as a loss. They're looking for shows that keep people watching their channel and if they go to the trouble of getting hold of a series, then playing it and have no one watch it after you've begged for it for so long, what does that say to the companies? "I don't really care about this, but thanks for playing." And they'll move on. This is what happened with Toonami, Miguzi, and any other CN block you can think of. Just watching the Numbers Game on the Saturday block shows that anime is losing ground again. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was the only show that made the Top 3 since I've been watching it and replays of The Boondocks and the other American shows have kept it out of the listing for a few weeks now. So, since the internet is seemingly the way to go as far as putting out viewable anime content, I think that working out a more lucrative deal between the stream sites and the anime companies is probably the way to go. If people want the series on DVD, the hits they get will tell them.

It seems that the U.S. and Japanese manga companies have finally had enough of all the scanlation sites that are floating around. ANN coverage To sum it up, a coalition of over 40 companies, including, Viz Media, TokyoPop, Shueisha, Kodansha and Square Enix have banded together to threaten legal action on 30 scanlation sites (that have not been named publicly). I'm guessing the straw that broke the camel's back was finding out that One Manga is in Google's Top 1,000 Sites, not to mention the incident where someone created an iPhone app where users could easily download illegal scanlations to their phones. Personally, I'm surprised they haven't done something like this earlier. The companies have said for a long time that they're sick and tired of the pirates, but they've been a lot more bark than bite. While this is going to do little in terms of actually stopping scanlations, this is showing that they're willing to break off the chain and take a hunk out of the mailman, so to speak. What do you think's gonna happen?
