FFVIII is a prime example of a story that should be decent that is ruined because it's riddled with idiocy.

  I think I've blocked out the story pretty much. I just remember that I was enjoying the story until it suddenly got really weird towards the end. I also didn't like the romance aspect. But I often don't like those forced romances in games, anyway.
