1. Shin tried to use his other gun to block the bullet, but he was a step too slow. The bullet entered just above his shoulder blade and exited below his collarbone. Shin: Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Son of a *****! Shin started staggering and clasped his shoulder in pain. He forced himself to keep moving. Kitty aimed and fired again. She barely missed, but hit a trash can near Shin. Some of the trash flew out and hit him. Shin: Damn trash! Kitty: I won't miss again, you bastard! You'll pay for what you did to Jericho! Shin: Not...likely... Shin uses all his strength to aim his other gun and shot a bullet at Kitty. The bullet hit Kitty's (actually Shin's) gun and it fell out of her hands. It was then, that Shin saw a taxi. He ran across the street towards it. Shin: Taxi!!!!!! Shin runs over to the taxi and opens the door, desperately. Kitty: Why don't you take your damn gun, too?! Kitty throws Shin's gun at him in frustration. It sails all the way over the street and strikes his injured shoulder. Shin: Ahhhhh!!!!! Damn girl!!!! Shin throws himself into the taxi. Shin: Take me to the hospital, now! Driver: Yes, sir! The taxi drives off to the hospital with Shin inside.
2. Shin stood by the Men's room. He looked in a nearby mirror and he could see Jericho, Jasen, Flash and Kitty talking to someone. Shin: Who the hell is that guy? It doesn't matter right now. I'm outnumbered; I need to escape. Shin slinks over to the back and goes into the kitchen. Chef: What are you doing?! You are not supposed to be back here! Shin: Shut up! Shin punches the chef in the face and runs off. He avoids several people trying to grab him and arrest him. He slides under another chef and makes a getaway. He sees the back door and runs through it to the outside. Shin: Heh, I made it! No crazy chick trying to kill me tonight! But no Jericho, either...should I take the chance? Yes, I will! Shin sneaks around and goes behind a car. He peers up and sees everyone still talking. He takes out his gun and loads in some bullets. Shin steadies his hand and gets a clear shot at Jericho. Shin: Good night, Jericho Inblade. Shin fires.
3. Shin puts his fork down and burps contently. Shin: Now that was a steak. Waiter: Your bill, sir. Shin: Huh? Thanks. Shin pays the money and gets out of his seat. Shin: Man, the night can't get much better than this... Shin walks out of The Gorry and peers down the road. Shin: What the hell is that? Shin sees the car that Kitty and Flash are driving and recognizes them immediately. Shin: Holy crap, it's that crazy chick who got me with the shotgun! She's probably after me right now! Shin runs back into The Gorry. Shin: Well, she won't be getting the jump on me, that's for sure.
4. I believe that one of the things that Ness' father does in Earthbound is take care of your bank account. I can't remember the other. Not sure if this has been asked, but it's the only thing that's coming to me right now. Which non-Mario characters make a guest apperance in Super Mario RPG and where can you find them?
5.
Originally posted by Lady Asphyxia The reason for that is because people like those types of characters in original writing. A Mary Sue is reviled because she eclipses the main characters in the fandom -- which is not a good thing to do. I suppose, to draw a comparison, it's like when everyone is in a group and joking around, then someone -- who isn't in the group -- comes in and pushes the joke too far. If that makes sense.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. My understanding of the Mary Sue has now increased. Bleh, that gets real annoying after a while. I have an original character as the focal point of my fan fiction, but I also try to keep the focus on the other characters as well. Don't know how good a job I've done so far, but I'm trying, at least.
6. Thought I'd throw my two cents into this... Games Make You Dumb: They do, if that's all people do with their lives and neglect school. Otherwise, I don't think that there's any real proof that games alone will make you dumb. Games Isolate You: Oh yeah. Trust me, if you're near the end of a really good game, you're not gonna want to go out for a while. It's happened to me several times in my life. Games Addict You: Well, of course they addict you. People can get addicted to pretty much anything nowadays. Games Mess Up Your Body: If you play them over long periods of time, of course they're going to mess up your body. Your thumbs won't be feeling too nice after a long gaming session, I can tell you that. And sitting on the floor for a long time playing video games isn't a smart move, unless you sit up straight (which I don't). Games Cause Violence: Bleh, this is just a long and sticky issue. I've been playing games for years and I have yet to commit a violent act because of them. But some of the harder games tend to ignite my vicious temper. Thankfully, even that's never led to violence. Games Make You Smart: Depends on what sort of game you're playing. Games can improve your hand/eye coordination, but that doesn't make you smart. Solving some difficult puzzles can help your problem solving skills pretty well, though. Games Improve Your Literacy: If you're like me and you play lots of RPGs, then you're literacy will skyrocket. Trust me when I say that even simple RPGs have loads of text to read through. You'll be a much better reader after you beat some RPGs. Games Are Social: Games can be very social if you let them and not just online. When my family visits my house, we play games all the time and have fun with each other. When my friends visit my house, we play games. Games are very social. Games Relieve Stress: Heh, not if you play a near-impossible game. That'll just add to the stress. But a lot of games are very fun to play and fun relieves stress. Simple as that. Games Heal the Body: Not really sure about this, so I don't really have a comment on it.
7. Maitre d: This way, sir. Shin: Thanks. The maitre d leads Shin to his table. Shin sits down and takes a menu from the maitre d. Shin looks at the menu and raises his eyebrows. As a waiter passes by, Shin pulls on his coat. Waiter: Yes? Shin: Don't you guys serve any real food here? Waiter: I don't understand, sir. Shin points to the menu. Shin: All this stuff. It's in some crazy alien language! Waiter: That's French, sir. Shin: Well, whatever it is, I don't understand it! Waiter: I can assure you that the food is good, sir. Shin: Fine, I'll take your word for it. Tell me, do you serve steak here? Waiter: Yes, we do. Shin: Fine, get me some steak. Waiter: How would you like it cooked? Shin: What's with all the questions?! I don't care how it's cooked! Waiter: Fine with me, sir. The waiter leaves and Shin lays back in his seat. Shin: Sure are a lot of people here...this must be a popular place. Shin sees the two people that Jericho saw. Shin: Those guys look like they're up to something...might as well keep an eye on them.
8. Homer used Krusty brand cough syrup, but I'm guessing that any cough syrup could be used. Which religion did Lisa convert to after Mr. Burns took over the church?
9. At first he thought they were sharks, but then he realized they were dolphins and called them "the clowns of the sea." Q: When The Simpsons were a part of the Witness Protection Program to get away from Sideshow Bob, what name did Homer want to go by?
10. Bleh, I was hoping it would go to GameCube. My PC is way too crappy to run KOTOR and I don't have an XBox...I really hate missing out on great games like this.
11. I really like the first one; it makes it seem like the image is in some sort of dream (which kinda fits in with the whole Akira thing). The other two are okay, but the first one is definetely the best of the three.
12. Does anybody know whether KOTOR is always going to be XBox exclusive or will it be exclusive for a few months and then released on other systems (ala Splinter Cell)? I really, really want to get this game, but I'm still apprehensive about buying an XBox for it (because this is really the only game that interests me on XBox outside of Panzer Dragoon).
13.
Originally posted by Lady Asphyxia But I've lately found that the entire fanfiction world have become paranoid about Mary Sues, and quite a few of them don't know what it is. As such, many good well placed Original Characters are ignored, because many of the fandom assume that "Original" means "Mary Sue." And this is where my argument stems from. I jsut wish that, once in a while, people could accept good Original Characters, without accusing them of Mary Sues.
If I had a quarter for everytime I saw this sentiment on Fan Fiction, I'd be a rich man (not to mention retired). I wish people would realize that not all original characters are Mary Sues. I mean, just look at the shows that people are basing their fan fictions on; there are several ultra-powerful characters that fit the description that Devidramon showed us, yet nobody accuses them of being Mary Sues. This sort of thinking just annoys me to no end.
14. Shin walks past a wall and looks at the inscription on it. It says "Kat rules." Shin: "Kat rules?" Now I've seen everything... Shin continues walking down the road and his stomach growls. Shin: Man, I'm hungry! I haven't eaten in a long time... Shin spots a restaurant about half a block away. Shin: Finally! Some food! Shin checks his wallet before walking over to the restaurant. He has plenty of money inside, so he goes over to the entrance. Shin: The Gorry? Who comes up with this stuff...? Shin walks up to the front. He notices that just about everyone is dressed in suits and dresses. Shin: Pretty posh crowd. Maitre d: Do you have a reservation, sir? Shin: Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. Shin puts his hand in his coat pocket and takes out a gun. He points it at the maitre d. Shin: Here you go; my reservation. Maitre d: I see...wait here. Shin sits down as the maitre d prepares the table.
15. A Mary Sue is like a perfect character; everyone loves them, they're ultra powerful, they're the most popular, etc. Most Mary Sues are like an extension of the author wishes they could be (in most cases that I've seen, that is).
16. Shin wakes up and looks around his room. He stretches a bit and yawns. Shin: That's what I needed...a nice nap... Shin walks over to the window and looks outside. Shin: Look at them all. So unsuspecting. They don't know that I'm about to make the biggest capture of my career. By the time I'm off this planet, I'll be known all over the universe. Shin closes the curtains and walks over to the door. He opens it and walks back over to the elevator. He presses the lobby button and rides the elevator down to the lobby. Shin: Now it begins... Shin smiles a devious smile to himself.
17. I would've been willing to wait a long time to get multiplayer on the same screen for the Game Boy Player. Screen size wouldn't even matter; it's not like we're not used looking at small screens with the GBA, anyway. Even a four-way screen on a TV is an improvement. To be honest, I don't know if there's still a two player mode in Super Mario Advance 4, but I wouldn't count on it. The type of two player mode that SMB 3 had wouldn't translate well to the GBA (you'd have to keep switching back and forth) and if it was linked, well it'd be easier to just play it one player because you could get the levels done faster. But I would count on seeing the Mario Bros. game added, though.
18. Okay, I'm dropping in here to make a few announcements and I hope that everyone who's signed up for this will read it. First off, I want to address the issue of heel/face turns. Please only make turns if you have a genuine storyline attached to it and it makes sense. I don't want someone turning face/heel just for the hell of it. Second, since I really want this RPG to get started right away before interest in it is gone, I spent yesterday thinking of a way for us to include wrestlers that haven't been taken yet in addition to the wrestlers that have been taken. Here's how it will be done: you just take a wrestler(s) that hasn't been taken yet and just use them for one match/promo/backstage altercation. For example: say Shippo (who plays the part of Triple H) wants to do an Evolution promo. Then, he would be able to just take Randy Orton and Ric Flair and use them for that promo since they haven't been picked up by anybody yet. But even if you use them, you still can't claim these wrestlers for your own, especially if someone takes them. Next, if you want to use a wrestler that somebody has, then you must contact the person to get their permission. Do not assume that someone will automatically let you use their wrestler in a match or a promo. Right now, I'm going to make a list of the wrestlers that are still available to be taken. Here it is: RAW AL SNOW BATISTA BUBBA RAY DUDLEY CHRIS NOWINSKI CHRISTIAN D-VON DUDLEY GARRISON CADE GOLDUST IVORY JACQUELINE JACKIE GAYDA JAZZ KEVIN NASH LANCE STORM LILIAN GARCIA MAVEN MARK JINDRAK MOLLY HOLLY RANDY ORTON RENE DUPREE RIC FLAIR RICO RODNEY MACK ROSEY SCOTT STEINER SHANE McMAHON SPIKE DUDLEY STACY KEIBLER STEVEN RICHARDS SYLVAN GRENIER TERRI TEST TOMMY DREAMER TRISH STRATUS VAL VENIS VICTORIA WILLIAM REGAL Smackdown! A-TRAIN BIG SHOW BILL DeMOTT BILLY GUNN CHARLIE HAAS CHAVO GUERRERO CHUCK PALUMBO DANNY BASHAM DAWN MARIE DOUG BASHAM HARDCORE HOLLY JAMIE NOBLE JOHNNY STAMBOLI MARK HENRY NATHAN JONES NIDIA NUNZIO RHYNO RIKISHI SABLE SEAN O'HAIRE SHANNON MOORE SHELTON BENJAMIN SPANKY TAJIRI TAZZ TORRIE WILSON UNDERTAKER VINCE McMAHON If there is anyone that I neglected to put on this list, do not hesitate to inform me. Lastly, RAW and Smackdown! will be the only shows that we will do initially. I need to see how easy and fast we are able to do the shows before I decide whether or not we do the shows like Velocity, Heat, and the different PPVs. Also, I need to talk with both GhostofSalvtore and Avalon to discuss how they want to do their respective shows. Also, right now would be a good time to start PMing me with your ideas for story lines. Thank you very much and I hope that this RPG can get started very soon. EDIT: Decided to take advantage of the situation with not enough wrestlers being taken and snap up another one for myself. So sue me. If people want more wrestlers, they can take them as long as they have good storylines set up for them (I really hate seeing good talent being put to waste). Name: Chris Kanyon Height: 6'3" Weight: 245 lbs. Championships: WCW Tag Team Championship (w/ Diamond Dallas Page), WCW U.S. Heavyweight Championship, WWF Tag Team Championship (w/ Diamond Dallas Page) Set-Up Finisher: Whichever one of his awesome moves he decides to use that night. Finisher: The Flatliner Status: Heel Class: Heavyweight Style: Balanced Bio: It's hard to say whether any wrestler deserves a push more than Chris Kanyon. Chris is an extremely hard working individual who has paid his dues just as much, if not more, than any wrestler today. Kanyon had an extremely successful career in WCW, capturing the WCW Tag Team Championship and beating Booker T. the night of his first WCW Heavyweight Championship. After joining the WWF, it looked like Kanyon's good luck would continue. He captured the WCW U.S. Heavyweight Championship and the WWF Tag Team Championship and also was a part of the WCW Invasion Team. However, Kanyon's luck soon turned around. A freak injury suffered in a dark match against Randy Orton kept Kanyon out for months. After rehab, Kanyon started wrestling at the OVW and the HWA, in order to get his skill back and to put over some rookies. However, in a match against Damaja, Kanyon hurt his shoulder. He finished his match, but continued to wrestle without going to doctors to check out his injury. Eventually, Kanyon did get his shoulder checked out, after wrestling a couple of matches, and it was revealed that his shoulder was infected and there was a buildup of fluid in his lungs. While watching a PPV Event with his friends, Chris passed out and nearly died. Kanyon had recieved a life threatining injury doing what he loved best; performing for the fans. But now Kanyon has returned to the ring and is better than ever. He's earned the nickname "The Innovator of Offense" and with good reason; he rarely uses the same moves on any given night. Kanyon also gives an entertaining match and he's one of the few heels who truly knows how to receive some genuine heat from the fans without pull an audacious act. Kanyon is more than deserving of a great career in the WWE and he's going to make sure that he finally gets it.
19. Whoever thinks that this merger is not a good idea is absolutely insane. First of all, you're not just taking two of the most popular RPG makers in the world, you're taking two of the most popular developers in the world. While Enix might not sell that well in the U.S. (outside of the Dragon Warrior series), their track record in Japan is mind boggling (well, not so mind boggling if you know how good they are). And Square's popularity (whether deserved or not) has been proven time and time again. When you take two monstrous companies such as these two, only good can come from it. And thankfully, they're not infusing each others games. The last thing I need is horrible voice acting in Dragon Warrior games. The voice acting in FFX made me hate the characters, not like them. But that's another story for another thread.
20. Frankly, I don't give a crap if people hated a Fan Fiction that I wrote if it just so happens to be a Mary Sue. If people are ignorant enough to take their pre-conceived notions into a story and immediately abandon a potentially good story because it's a Mary Sue, then that's their problem. Of course, the only good Mary Sues that I've read are parodies. With that said, my most popular fanfic has several characters of my own creation in it. They're all pretty powerful (but then again, it's a DBZ fanfic, so I guess they have to be lol), but they're not invincible. There is some romance in the story, but I've tried to avoid romance with the characters of the show. I'd rather have romance with characters that I've created because I can create personalities that work instead of having to work with a premade character. Also, my fanfic has a pretty even ratio of made-up characters to characters from the series (with a little more made-up characters than "real" characters). Of course, my story really has little to do with the overall DBZ storyline. I just chose some of their characters as a backdrop because they fit in well with what I wanted to write. And, honestly, that's the way I like it. I don't like to be shackled by the limitations of a series. I'd rather just write what I want to write without having to worry whether I'm being true to the series (which I'm not). This is why I like writing regular fiction more, but that's another story for another thread. EDIT: I've never done self-insertion, but every character I create has at least some aspect of my personality in them. If they were nothing like me, then I wouldn't be able to make them a good character, because I wouldn't understand them.
21. As the elevator is closing, Shin takes a quick peek outside. He sees a familiar face right before the elevator closes. Shin: Was that...? No, it couldn't be... The elevator slowly rises to its destination. The elevator stops at Floor 54 and Shin walks out. He spots his room down the hall and opens it up. He walks inside, closes the door, and immediately lays down on the bed. Shin: Now this is what I need...no bounty hunting...no crazy chicks...just rest and relaxation... Shin closes his eyes and drifts off to sleep.
22. I think that it's evident that James has stumped us all (unless someone besides James has the answer to the question and just isn't telling). I think that it's time that another person pop in with a question, or maybe James could give us another question since nobody knows the answer to his super stumper.
23. First off, I like your sig, maladjusted. Simple and effective (unlike my monster of a signature @_@). Now, I will comment on the drawing: I like it. 'Tis a good looking drawing in my opinion. It looks a bit "sketchy" but it's not like I can draw better than that, so my opinion is invalidated lol.
24. Don't feel like explaining my real name, because frankly, I don't care too much for researching what my name means. I'm lazy like that lol. My name is Future Trunks' Japanese name (well, part of it) and I gave myself that name when I was in my infamous "Dragon Ball Z is the coolest thing ever" phase. I'll probably change my name once Version 7 comes around, though.
25. SD definetely came off with the better PPV and I think that they usually will. SD simply has better overall wrestlers; remember, RAW is known as the show for storylines and Smackdown! is the show known for wrestling. There was some questionable stuff at Vengance (John Cena losing, Zach Gowen losing), but overall I think it was high quality stuff (except for the APA Bar Room Brawl - just embarassing). Now, for my thoughts on RAW: RAW started off with Vince McMahon coming out, so I knew that something was up. He said that he was gonna make Kane pay for Tombstoning his wife, not because he's a good husband, but because he's a man and Kane isn't. Yeah, you really made him pay, Vince (you'll see what I'm talking about later if you didn't see RAW). Next, was Booker T. and Scott Steiner against Christian and Test. It was a decent match, but I'm tired of seeing these guys thrown at each other. Scott Steiner is totally burnt out as a face and Test isn't faring much better as a heel (though, it's certainly better than when he was a face). The WWE could be doing so much better with Test's charcter and his psychology, but instead, they focus on putting him into matches with Scott Steiner every week. And Booker T. and Christian are being held back by getting involved with these two and their stupid feud. They can all do much better. Next, the announcement came that Triple H was to face Goldberg at SummerSlam. Raise your hand if you were surprised by this...okay, nobody was surprised. Next, the WWE finally started doing the smart thing and actually had Goldberg wrestle on RAW. Gasp! Goldberg destroyed Steven Richards in about a minute. He looked very impressive, but then again, he was wrestling Steven Richards. Nothing against Steven Richards, but he's not Goldberg. Then, Evolution came out and clapped for Goldberg. Then, Trips said that he wouldn't face Goldberg right then because he wanted to make money off of Goldberg's rep and if he beat Goldberg up, that wouldn't happen. After that, Goldberg decided to challenge Ric Flair who couldn't wait to get into the ring (Flair's performance is priceless). Of course, Bischoff came out and made that a match for the next night on RAW. After this, was a decent match between Val Venis and Rico. Looks like the WWE is recycling the old Goldust psychology and applying it to Rico. Rico does a pretty good job with it, but I think the dancing around is taking it a little too far. Next, was my favorite segment on RAW, The Highlight Reel! Jericho is so cool. First, he brags about his victory over Shawn Michaels in only the way that he can do it, then he brings out Randy Orton. The exchange between Orton and Jericho is very good and really makes them both look like smug little bastards, heh. Randy Orton is really flourishing in the heel role and Jericho is getting the new push that he so rightly deserves. HBK comes out and totally ignores Jericho. My favorite HBK line of the night is after this: "If I had a nickel for every stiff that said he was gonna end my career, I'd be a millionnaire...oh wait, I am a millionnaire." Heh, that had me laughing. Then, he demands a rematch with Jericho. Of course, Jericho calls Shawn pathetic for wanting a rematch with him and that he'd wrestle anyone in the WWE before he wrestled HBK again. At this time, Orton attacks Shawn and he fends them both off before they both attack him. Then, Kevin Nash comes out (wasn't he injured?) and fights them both off. He then proceeds to challenge Jericho to a match because "last time I checked, my name was Nash." Or something like that. Jericho does his best to make this match look good, but Kevin really is a step slow (and gray in the beard, if you didn't notice). Jericho goes for the legs the entire match, but Nash no sells it later (he walked perfectly later o_O). Jericho gives Nash a low blow, then Nash proceeds to beat the hell out of Jericho. Why did this have to happen? Jericho needs to be pushed, not get the hell beaten out of him. Poor planning, in my opinion. I'm not sure if it came at this time, but The Hurricane was talking to Rosey about being his partner. Now, I'm not big on Rosey, but I'm willing to sit through matches with Rosey if it'll give The Hurricane a good push. He really does deserve it; he's over with the fans, he's a good wrestler, and he has great mic skills (as is evident with his exchanges with The Rock). If this is the case, then I look forward to it. Next, was a tag team title match between La Resistance and the team of Mark Jindrak and Garrison Cade, with the Dudley Boys doing commentary. Jindrak and Cade looked very impressive in the ring, as did La Resistance. Hopefully, Jindrak and Cade will be big stars in the future, whether they're a tag team or not (they did look very good as a tag team, though). La Resistance won, if you care. Later, the Dudley's beat them down, but then got beaten up with the French flags. After this, is a good match between Molly Holly and Gail Kim in which Molly becomes the new Women's Champion. I guess Gail isn't working out like the WWE thought she would. Frankly, I think she should've fought a couple of matches at least before winning the Women's Title. Last, was the moment everyone was waiting for. Kane was released from the paddy wagon and taken to Vince McMahon in shackles. Vince ordered them to be taken off and he talked to Kane in the ring. It seemed like Vince had actual human emotion, but then he takes a Vince turn. He called Kane a monster, then wondered aloud what it would be like with Kane in his corner. McMahon and Kane, as he said. Vince really is evil. Then, Stone Cold comes out and confronts Kane. He says he's staying on as GM and he practically begged Kane to hit him. Kane refused and laughed in Stone Cold's face. Then, it happened. The only McMahon I've ever been a fan of, the only McMahon I've ever liked, Shane McMahon comes out to the ring. Shane runs to the ring and takes Kane over the top rope and beats on his head. Vince takes Shane off and gets a punch to the head for his troubles. Then, Shane takes a chair and beats on Kane with it, causing him to fall where he chokeslammed Eric Bischoff. And, in a great moment, Kane sits up and starts laughing. Sent chills down my spine for a moment. Overall, it was a great RAW. The Highlight Reel segment was fantastic, the Tag Team Title match was good, as was the Women's Title match. Goldberg vs. Triple H is getting some more hype and Ric Flair vs. Goldberg should be good. Shane McMahon's return, though expected, was great as well. But the best part was Kane. Kane refusing to fight Stone Cold was a great advancement. It paints a picture of Kane being much smarter and more sadistic then he looks. He refused to do the one thing that Stone Cold wanted, instead of beating the hell out of him. Kane can hurt in more ways than one, it seems. And him sitting up and laughing at Shane trying to hurt him was good as well. Overall, a fantastic RAW and I hope next week's is even better.
