1. Well, thanks for doing my work for me! :D I'll definitely be attending AX, most likely on the second and third days of the convention (Sunday and Monday, I believe). My brother and sister want to go on the day of the masquerade, so the second day of AX would be most convenient for me to meet up with everyone. As for the time, I'm open to whatever time people want to meet up - I'll be there bright and early to pick up my pass, and I'll be staying until around 7:00 or 8:00 PM. Sennen and I have met up at about 11:00 AM the last couple of years, so maybe that'll work for everybody? Should be lots of fun. :)
  2. I'd be appreciative if someone could take this picture and make it into a banner with the quote, "See you in another life, brother" on it. Feel free to find another picture if that one doesn't work well for you; just Google 'Desmond Lost' and there will be some more. Also, you can put the quote anywhere you like, as long as it fits - I'm not too particular. Thanks in advance. :) EDIT: Since my request hasn't been taken up by anyone, I've changed my mind about the banner - I'll just make the picture into an avatar or something.
  3.
Aperantly, they also made a new season. I'm not sure if it's true, but I do anticipate the arrival of the soon to be Simpsons and Futurama movie.
Nope. Unfortunately, the rumors of new seasons of Futurama were just that - rumors.
I also wonder why they cancelled Futurama? I thought the ratings were pretty good. Don't they show episodes on Cartoon Network that weren't aired on Fox?
Nah, the ratings for Futurama were never anything special, if I'm remembering correctly. The show was pre-empted so much and moved to so many different timeslots that it just never had the chance to get a sizable audience. And to my knowledge, Cartoon Network has only shown episodes of Futurama that have previously aired on Fox.
  4. Futurama by ten gazillion miles. It's maybe my favorite television show ever, and it was pretty sad to see Fox treat it like people contracted HIV from watching the show or something. At least there's now the strong possibility of several Futurama straight-to-DVD movies in the works. :)
  5. I avoid girls because they all have cooties.
  6. Sonic Youth's Rather Ripped by miles. Besides being my favorite band, I can honestly say without bias that they haven't released a bad or even average album in years. It's been almost twenty-five years since Sonic Youth released their first album, and they are still going on strong. Also, just about every impression of the album I've read so far has been incredibly positive; listening to streams of Rather Ripped on Sonic Youth's website has me agreeing wholeheartedly with all of the praise it is getting. I can't wait for June 13th. :)
  7. I saw the film yesterday, and I basically agree with you both. There are some good parts (Sir Ian McKellen and Paul Bettany are both great, and when the plot is moving, it's pretty fun), but the bad outweighs the good (bad pacing, WAY too much talking/lecturing, boring characters, etc.). The biggest disappointment for me is that Audrey Tautou's talent is basically wasted; I'm a big fan of hers, and I was really looking forward to her role in the film, but she isn't given much to work with, sadly. :( The Da Vinci Code is basically another disposable Hollywood blockbuster, which is unfortunate because it could have been a pretty entertaining thriller.

Yes, Bad Twin is the manuscript that Sawyer was reading; my dad bought it, but I haven't read it yet (no time). I have no clue what is up with the Hanso Corp. ads. I've gone to the websites, but I'm not really getting anything out of them lol.
  9.
Uh-huh.
Haha. Anyway, yes, you must come to AX. We'll finally meet face-to-face, and then the world can finally go ahead and end.
Is Season 3 airing over in America or something? It's hard to tell from any of the posts, what with the spoilers and all. :animeangr
Ha, no. We're talking about Season 2 episodes, but we don't want to give anything away to people who haven't seen them yet, right? :P
  11. GameSpot article about E3 Twilight Princess Wii demo, along with a Twilight Princess video Twilight Princess is looking more fantastic than ever right now, especially with the Wii-specific adaptations. After watching that video, I'm itching to be able to play it with the "Wiimote" (as Charles refers to it :p). It'll probably take a bit of getting used to, but I'm confident that the learning curve will be fairly smooth. Question: Is it safe to assume that there's a good possibility of there being a Twilight Princess/Wii bundle available when the system launches? I know that I'd pick that up in a heartbeat.
  12. Don't worry, post quality will start ascending again soon, and will keep on ascending until people start complaining about overly harsh moderating, after which post quality will take another dip, and so on and so forth. It's the Circle of Life.
  13.
Wiimote
That's probably the only funny Wii pun I've seen since the name was announced. :animesmil Sony's conference was also underwhelming to me as well. Admittedly, I wasn't really planning on getting a PS3 in the first place, but Sony's E3 showing didn't do much at all to change my mind about that. But, hey, at least the PS3's controller is innovative!!
  14. I would never meet anyone from OB; you're all too strange for me.

    Lost

Good God, what a freaking show. My jaw is still hanging open.
Holy crap. That was a really[/i'] intense episode... is the finale coming up soon? Wait, next week isn't the finale, is it? :animestun
We've got three more weeks left: Two one-hour shows and the two-hour season finale. It's clear sailing from here until the end of the season.

Ana Lucia having sex with Sawyer
left me reeling, but that was nothing compared to how I reacted when
Ana Lucia and Libby were shot. Libby definitely seems to be a goner... I suppose there isn't much hope for Ana Lucia, either, because this episode focused on her. If one of them was going to live, though, it would have to be her. I wonder how they'll show Libby's story now? Ever since it was revealed that she was in the same institution as Hurley, I've been very curious about her.

Yeah, they're both goners. If you've been scouring for any Lost-related news lately, then you know that both Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros are leaving the show. Coupled with the online rumors that two people were going to be aced before the end of the season, it was almost certain that Ana Lucia and Libby were going to the ones to be killed. I took the rumors with a grain of salt (I thought that the two who were going to die would be minor characters ala Arzt blowing up last season), but I'm sure now that they'll both be dead. However, I don't think that anybody could have predicted how they'd go out. Jesus Christ.
As for
Libby's story
(BIG SPOILER AHEAD),
it's been revealed via TV Guide and various other sources that the season finale will be centered on Desmond (*takes a moment to jump for joy*) and that Libby will actually be a part of Desmond's backstory. So a bunch of questions will probably be answered there.

It's unfortunate that
Locke will probably lose the added edge he had with John right after getting it. Anyway, what on earth is Michael planning on telling them? That Henry somehow got Ana Lucia's gun and then escaped? I expected him to leave with Henry, but I guess the Others still want to have an inside man.

I think that it's a believable enough story, considering that everyone knows how crafty Henry is. And all that they really know about the situation is that Ana Lucia was looking to kill Henry, so I figure that they'll assume that she lost her cool before she got the opportunity to blow his brains out, Henry was able to get the jump on her, and he was able to overpower her and Michael and escape. They really have no reason to not believe anything that Michael says; they know how much he hates The Others.

I'm also questioning just how much
Michael really knows. If he's trusting the Others to this extent, I assume he at least got to see Walt, in which case he must be aware that they're not just living out in the jungle and so forth.

I'm questioning that as well.
The Others have played everyone like a bunch of damn fiddles for the most part, and I definitely think that they're stringing Michael along. They let Michael see just enough to make him think that they were desperate enough for a deal, just enough to feed his obsession with getting Walt back, and they sent him to get Henry. At first I was thinking that Ana Lucia might've been a revenge kill for The Others, but now I just think that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, just as Libby was. If it were anybody else there, I think that Michael would have killed him or her. I think that his only real objective was to spring Henry... for now, that is. But who knows what else The Others might want him to do? I think that you're exactly right about what you said earlier about The Others wanting an inside man.

Will Michael just stay and watch his friends stroll into a (death?) trap?
I won't make any predictions at this point...
Don't worry, I'll make vague predictions for you. :p Anyway, I hope not, but I'm honestly not sure.
Michael is definitely not in his right frame of mind right now; his mind is fixated on Walt and that's it. As long as The Others have Walt within their walls, then Michael will follow their orders. As he's just shown, he's willing to do anything to get Walt back.
Man, oh man, is Lost ever ******* great. I hope that all of the people who were complaining about the 'slowness' of this season are eating a few good helpings of crow right now. These last three weeks are going to be absolutely killer.
  16. Unless Cloud is into
necrophilia
, then he shoud love Tifa.
The ultimate challenge would be getting them both at the same time, however...
17. I actually don't play my N64 much these days, but I'm looking forward to playing some of the great N64 games I never got to experience when Revolution comes out. As long as they're not too expensive, I think that the N64-era will still be quite popular. :)
  18.
Plus... what's wrong with comedy?[/color']
Yeah, seriously. Just because a show plays for laughs a majority of the time doesn't mean that it has no inherent value... hell, I'd say that being honestly funny to watch immediately gives a show tons of value. Lots of the sharpest, most intelligent animated shows have been comedies: The Simpsons, Futurama (my favorite animated series), South Park, Family Guy, Rocko's Modern Life, Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Daria, and so on and so forth. There's hardly a shortage of smart American animated comedies, much less shows in other genres lol.
  19.
Dont even bother playing MGS2:SOL it was by far the suckiest Metal gear Solid game.
And I think that it's a very good game and I enjoyed it a lot. MGS2 is one of those games that polarizes people, so I don't think that you'll be swayed either way by people. If you can find it for only $8, then I think it's worth it to pick it up and try it out for yourself. MGS2: Substance is well worth picking up if you end up liking MGS2; I got my copy for only $20 (I have the XBox edition, but I don't see the PS2 version being any more expensive if it's available, especially since the PS2-era is winding down).
  20.
Anime and manga are for dorks. But, so what? I play video games, which are just as strongly associated with dorkiness. My point is that almost everyone has a dorky interest or hobby. Look at the myspace fad and how mainstream that is. Isn't that the epitome of dorkiness? Don't be ashamed of your nerdy interest or make excuses about how "deep" anime is. Just be comfortable enough with yourself and what you like to accept, and even laugh at what other people think about it. Be cool enough to make fun of yourself and people won't bother you. However, if you become heated and try to explain the complexity of anime to naysayers, prepare to get teased. And rightfully so.
Charles has it right. It's honestly not worth expending much energy over at all. Most of the time you're not going to change their minds, and you just end up looking like a bigger dork than they thought you were. I'm only a casual fan of anime (though not so casual that people don't laugh at me about it :p), but I'm also really into Western animation, science-fiction, video games, reading for (OMG) fun, and tons of other things that would probably get me shoved into a locker every episode if I were a character in a high school-themed TV show. I really do like this stuff a lot, but if somebody insults me for it, then so what? I laugh if the insult is funny, make a better one if it's not, and move on. Having a sense of humor about things solves a great deal of life's problems. :)
  21.
(And the Producers is a musical about
a musical about Hitler.[/spoiler'] How can that not be amazing?)
Haha, damn right! The Producers is fantastic. Anyway, some of my favorite movies: Dr. Strangelove - My favorite movie ever. It's a hysterical (in more ways than one lol) black comedy about an paranoid Air Force general who orders the wings under his command to bomb Russia and the government's frantic attempts to stop this from happening. Frankly, I think that everything in this film is damn near flawless, from Stanley Kubrick's directing to the great acting, especially from Peter Sellers and George C. Scott, who have me rolling whenever they're on screen. The Great Dictator - You haven't lived until you've seen Adenoid Hynkel, Charlie Chaplin's spot-on cariacature of Hitler. The scene where he gives his speech to the citizens of Tomania had me cracking up so badly. The rest of the film is also classic and very funny. Duck Soup - Speaking of funny, I think that this might be the funniest film I've ever seen. The Marx Brothers were absolute comedic geniuses and they just go all out in this movie. I could go on all day about all of the classic sequences in this (the mirror scene, Groucho singing "Just Wait 'Til I Get Through With It," the hat switching scene, the war, Groucho flinging insults at Mrs. Teasdale; it just goes on and on). The best part is that it holds up incredibly well; I guarantee that it's funnier than just about anything you'll see today, and by quite a distance at that. The Empire Strikes Back - This'll always be one of my favorite movies ever no matter what. Watching the re-release with a bunch of crazed fans and essentially being introduced to the trilogy for the first time is easily the greatest theater experience I've ever had. I don't think that anything else will ever compare to it. Beyond that, what can I say? ESB is the best Star Wars film: It's got the most memorable scenes, the best story, the best ending, and the best lightsaber duel. I love it. Mulholland Dr. - *points to avatar* People get really confused by the story (I know I was when I first watched it, and still am to an extent), but I don't even think that's the main reason that people should see this. In Mulholland Dr., David Lynch crafts a creepy, unsettling mood that's as close to a literal dream as I think a movie can get. It's all so surreal and bewildering, but it's also fascinating and entertaining. If you like your movies to have completely linear plots that don't deliberately confuse you, then you'll probably hate this (and I don't think that there's anything wrong with that, really), but if you're open to a story that's as much about bizarre visuals and setting a distinct mood as it is about getting from point A to point B (and I personally think that the film does have an actual sequence of events, though it takes a bit of thinking to figure it all out), then definitely give this a watch. Whether you like it or not, at the very least I don't think that you'll be bored. :)

We agree on a great many things, Dagger. :)
There are three downloadable episodes left for me to watch, so I must be catching up--right? Right? Anyway, I just saw the episode in which
Henry draws the map for Ana Lucia.[/spoiler'] Why is it that the Korean episodes always seem to be especially excellent? I thought this was the best one (er, the best episode in general, I mean--not just the best Korean episode) I had seen in a while.
Yes, you're almost caught up. The latest Lost is the last new episode for a couple of weeks, so hopefully you'll be all caught up by the time the last few episodes of the season start airing. And, believe me, you'll want to be caught up. ;) By the way, I love Jin/Sun episodes as well. They're so great. :)
The writers did a great job of weaving together the disparate storylines--which is something they almost always do well, for that matter. I liked how they kind of toyed with the viewer's head without trying too hard; a good example of this is the beginning scene, when
Sun is shown meeting the bald dude, and at first you just naturally assume that they're having an affair.

Indeed. I loved
the tension between Sun and Jae. At the beginning I was like, "OMG SHE CHEATED ON JIN :O!!!" I never would have guessed that he was the one who had taught her English, haha.
Shows how great my memory is. :p (
Oh well - I'm glad that Sun apparently did not cheat on Jin.
)
By the way, I loooove
Henry. His ending monologue (about what he would do if he really were a member of the Others) had me in shivers. So cool! It's creepy how effortlessly he figured out the group dynamics, not to mention how he's subtly and not-so-subtly playing the plane characters off one another.

Henry
is awesome, and the actor who plays him is ******* amazing. God, the guy just gets creepier each episode. It's like each new episode has at least one
Henry
moment that's incredibly unsettling. He's so great. By the way (spoiler for the next Lost episode you'll be watching),
it's the greatest thing ever when Henry is finally found out and is revealed to be an Other. The look on his face at the end of "Lockdown" needs to be made into an OWNED pic, stat.

Where's Desmond? I want more Desmond.
:(
You and me both. God, I'm such a ginormous
Desmond
fanboy it's ridiculous.
Lately my favorite Desmond moment is when he's telling about how he first came upon Kelvin in the hatch. "'Just savin' the world,' he says" is such an fantastic quote.
I'll be so giddy if he shows up again by the end of the season -
we got Rousseau and Ethan again, so why not Desmond?

    Lost

Boy, this thread has been idle for a while. Anyway, tonight's episode was good. The Bernard/Rose story was nice, and the ending with
Michael finally returning~~~
was awesome. The season finale is going to rule so much. :) One other quick thought: Is it just me or has Ana Lucia gotten a bajillion times more likable lately? I hated her at first; however, she's grown on me a ton since then. She's still not one of my favorite characters, but she no longer bugs the **** out of me, haha.
  24. She has to be alive. That's about it, though I am open to exceptions from time to time.
  25.
Back on topic. I am in an interracial marriage. We never really thought about it until after we were married for a bit and a friend mentioned we were in an interracial marriage. I totally remember the two of us looking at each other like: "We are!" LOL I know it sounds funny but we never really think about it. It is not an issue. So much so that I really didn't even realize it until it was pointed out.
Actually, I know exactly what you're talking about there. My parents are an interracial couple, and all of my dad's siblings ended up in interracial marriages. But I never really noticed until people pointed it out to me, and I'd be like, "Uh, yeah, I guess that they are." These are people I've been around and loved my entire life - I've never thought about any of them in terms of not being a part of my race unless people actually point it out to me first. They're all my family and that's that as far as I'm concerned lol. I mean, it's not like one of my uncles came to the rest of the family one day and announced, "Everyone: I'm marrying a white woman!" and we nodded our approval or something lol. It just happened that way. People fall in love with who they fall in love with, and that's the way it goes. So, obviously, I have no problem with interracial relationships. Unless you're Mexican, then just stay the hell away from me.
THAT'S A JOKE, before anybody starts jumping all over me! I'm half-Mexican and I don't actually hate my bretheren! :P Until the drive-bys start, anyway. ANOTHER JOKE, PEOPLE.
