We've already got a thread on Guild Wars right here, buddy (and a few members have already formed a guild, as well). If you'd like to post about Guild Wars, then please do it in there. Thanks. :) Thread Closed

I don't know that it's my biggest pet peeve, but I get annoyed when people spell my name wrong. I don't even have a difficult name to spell: Michael. Easy. Simple. One of the most common names you'll find. Yet, nobody spells it right! I always get stuck with "Micheal". What kind of dork spells his name like that? And the rest of us who spell our name the right way have to suffer because of those douchebags' parents. Thanks a lot for giving your kid a stupid name. I really appreciate it. Jerks.

Mario Kart: DS for sure. My uncle's giving me a gift card for Best Buy or Fry's, so I'll be using that to get MK: DS. I'd rather not wait a month to be able to race online with everyone else here lol. Animal Crossing: Wild World is definitely on my list, as well. I love the original Animal Crossing, and I don't see any reason why I wouldn't enjoy the DS version as well. Finally being able to take AC online makes it all even better. :D Stuff like Kirby's Canvas Curse, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, etc. are lower on the totem pole. Most of the games I want seem to be for the DS lol. Man is the DS ever kicking *** right now. :)

You know, I've been wanting to watch this show for a while now, but from what I've read I get the impression that I'd be pretty confused about things if I just jump in right now. Does anybody know whether the earlier episodes of the season will be shown in reruns or not? I think that I read something about new episodes going on hiatus for a while, so that might be a good time to catch people up on the series who didn't get into it quickly enough.

Raw last night was amazing... I was close to tears just about the entire time, and both the tribute video and Chris Benoit breaking down got me. Rey Mysterio taking off his mask almost did it for me, too... that was just wowing. WWE really put on a great show in tribute of Eddie. The MNM/Big Show and Kane match was real fun, Angle/Benjamin was solid, Rey/HBK was incredible, the Diva battle royal was tons of fun (Maria was hilarious), Eugene/Simon Dean was another fun comedy match, Flair Regal was cool, and Orton/Cena was neat for what it was supposed to be. Just a great show from top to bottom. The memory segments were great, as well. The Los Guerreros vignettes were hilarious, and the Eddie/Chyna angle was just hysterical. I'm going to miss Eddie so much. :(

Just incredibly saddening news. Not only was Eddie Guerrero one of my all-time favorite wrestlers, but he was a real inspiration to many people after he conquered the personal demons that have ruined the lives of so many others. RIP Eddie - I'll always smile when I think of you.

Just one thing to say about tonight's episode: Wow. It's a testament to how great Lost is that basically everyone online knew that
Shannon
was going to die, and yet the show is still able to deliver a great shocker at the end. Tensions are going to be running mighty high down at the beach soon. :) Does anyone else think that the Others set up what happened at the end of tonight's episode on purpose? Ana Lucia did say that they were very smart. I wouldn't put it past them to screw with everyone's heads like that.

I'm not very particular at all about genres, as I'll watch just about anything if it's recommended to me, but I probably get the most enjoyment out of dark comedies. I love to laugh, and a really sharp, dark comedy will get me laughing like nothing else. Generally I also love animated movies and suspense/horror films. I like animation because I've seen so many animated films that are able to appeal to me as both a child and an adult. I think that animated films are really unappreciated in the grand scheme of things when it comes to being acknowledged as something beyond just being entertaining. And I like suspense and horror films, because I like the unique feeling you get when you watch a really terrifying movie. When I watch something like The Thing, Psycho, or Halloween, I know I'm going to have an experience unlike anything I'll get with another movie. :)
Dr.Strangelove; or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is probably my favourite movie of all time. It was direct by Stanley Kubrick, stared Peter Sellers, was completely black-and-white, and was so insanley hilarious it's never been matched. The best part about it is that it makes fun of the Cold War (Specifically the paranoia involved) during the Cold War, somthing so unthinkable at the time it's just incredible. The movie is just inexplicable. Its amazing.
You must have great taste in movies, because Dr. Strangelove is my favorite movie, too. :)
Myself, I'm enjoying stalking through the Torture Chamber. *cracks whip* Shinmaru! Polish my boots!
Before or after the orgy, my liege? :) I like Raiyuu's idea. I also demand more puns!!

I'll admit it, you got a nice laugh out of me with the OB banner. I love horrible puns way too much. >_>

My costume this year isn't quite as imaginative as last year's. I'm going as Charlie from Lost. I've been keeping my face and hair suitably scruffy for the past few days, and I've got my supplies all ready (white tape to wrap around my fingers, sugar to use in lieu of actual heroin, etc.). I also plan to stay up very late tonight in order to simulate that drugged out look that Dominic Monaghan has on in Lost. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the right type of jacket. Mine is black, but there's no zipper on it. Oh well. I'll definitely be attending class tomorrow in costume, and like last year I'll be throwing myself completely into character. Yep, terrible British accent, incessant twitching and paranoia, the works (not the only aspects of Charlie's character, but the most fun to work with lol). It'll also be so much fun to walk around screeching "You All Everybody". And maybe I'll give the neighbors the whole Charlie spiel along with that. By the time the night is over, everyone shall know that I was in Drive Shaft! :D

I barely remember any of my old costumes. I recall going out as Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one time (it was a really, really horrible costume, though), and I went as a vampire victim another year but that's about it for old costumes. A couple of years ago I went as The Invisible Pedestrian. That was basically ripped off from a Saturday Night Live sketch where Dan Aykroyd played a really sleazy toy salesman who was being interviewed by a completely disgusted Jane Curtin. One of the toys that Akyroyd brought out was a Halloween costume called 'The Invisible Pedestrian' which was basically an all-black outfit. I thought that the idea was hilarious, so I used that for my costume. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately lol), the street lights were out in full force when I went out trick-or-treating so I was very visible. And nobody asked me to explain my costume, either. :( Last year I went out as a ghetto pirate. I actually found a pirate pimp hat in a thrift store, and without that hat the costume would not have worked even a quarter as well. I got the idea when my mom told me that my brother was dressing up as a pirate, and I wondered what a modern-day pirate would be like. The costume was modern, but the way I acted was basically a rip-off of Captain Jack Sparrow. :) Here's a picture of my costume from last year if you'd like to see it. Not pictured: The fork I used as my sword. En garde! :D

I'd probably waste the hour doing nothing at all.
I find it amusing when everyone is eagerly anticipating the next "Ocarina" or "Halo 3" (and when I think about how well the GTA series do), and yet also pretends that the game industry really needs innovation. I suppose, when GTA and Halo titles stop breaking sales records, I'll have to agree ^_^
I think that the games you mentioned are really bad examples for the point you're trying to make. By 'Ocarina' I assume you're referring to Zelda... when have the Zelda games ever just been simple upgrades of each other? It's a franchise, yeah, but each sequel brings something new to the table. I haven't played Halo 2 very much at all, but I doubt that it's just 'Halo 1.5' or something. The GTA games have really pushed gameplay boundaries far beyond the norm - the leap from Vice City to San Andreas was pretty substantial, I think. Franchises can only sell on name recognition for so long. Tomb Raider was a bankable series for a long time, but sales tanked heavily after the third game in the series. Why? Because the games never evolved much, and when they actually did try to evolve they just made a mess of things. Resting on your laurels and relying on name recognition only fails in the long run. Zelda, Halo, and GTA aren't strong sellers simply because they're big name titles... people know that they will be getting a unique and worthwhile experience from these games that they wouldn't get anywhere else. Franchises don't survive for very long if the developers don't make the effort spruce things up with each new title. I'm not saying that innovation has to be incredibly radical like what Nintendo is attempting, but the industry as a whole will stagnate very quickly if nobody dares to try something new. :)
i saw ffac and its pretty cool
Please put more effort into your posts in the future. Your post is off-topic (if you'd like to post about Advent Children, go here) and even if it wasn't, it wouldn't add very much to the topic. Expanding a bit on why you think that Advent Children is cool (and in the proper thread!) would be just fine. A few sentences will do. :)

I agree with Charles here. A lot of the time that I actually bother to check out the local news on TV, I don't really feel that I'm hearing real news unless there is a story floating around that only the laziest group of newscasters wouldn't cover. For example, there was some decent coverage of Hurricane Katrina, and there has been a bit of coverage on the big brushfires that have been spreading around southern California as of late. But other than that, I would say that the local news falls right in line with Charles's description of them, especially the 'biggest' of the local news shows (I guess that Good Day, L.A. on Fox would be the biggest local news show around here). As for the poem itself, I liked it. There's a nice, simple rhythm to it, and it's obvious that I agree with your position regarding TV news lol. Also, I like how direct the poem is in terms of the subject matter - when I read it, I don't get the sense that you're trying to BS me about things. You're not dancing around the subject. I like that a lot. I don't really know what I have in the way of suggestions, though... I don't feel that the poem is too long. At least it didn't take me very long to read through and digest lol. Also, I should probably reply to your poetry more often. I usually like your poems, but I almost never know what to say. But what the hell; saying something is better than saying nothing, right? :) EDIT: By the way, Alex, I believe that's Tucker Carlson you're referring to.

Personally, Chris Masters has been growing on me for a while now... I actually like him quite a bit. He's not the greatest in-ring worker, but I think that he's done well considering how young and inexperienced he is. Masters has also shown himself to be competent on the mic. He's not DX-era Shawn Michaels, or anything, but at the very least I think that he's a solid heel. He's good at being a jerk. :) I agree with you for the most part, though. The best characters have come when WWE lets the wrestlers be themselves. Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, etc. These characters were extensions of the people playing them, without bad gimmicks to hold them back. I do find it interesting that you mentioned The Undertaker, however... I don't think that his character really fits in line with what you're saying, since his character is basically a gimmick, albeit a very successful gimmick. Also, I don't think that anybody should be talking about TNA coming even close to toppling WWE just yet. They're just getting started. But I hope that TNA becomes very successful. Another Monday Night War would be fantastic. :) But right now I'm just excited about Raw tonight. Should be a really great show. I'm looking forward to the Iron Man and the Ladder Match very much. The Smackdown superstars should put on a solid match, too, and I'm kind of interested to see where Bischoff vs. Cena goes. And Mick Foley on Piper's Pit should be a lot of fun. I think some people here will find this interesting. Now you can see what goes on during the Raw commercial breaks. Should be very, very handy during the Iron Man match. :D
Yeah Shin, I remember you talking about those games at some point last year. I'm sure Paper Mario 2 was amongst them as well... but eh, who knows. ^_^;;
Ooh, yeah, I can't believe I forgot about that! I was definitely playing Paper Mario 2 around that time, as well. I was probably laughing my *** off, too. The Thousand Year Door is funny as hell. :)
A) Which aspect of OtakuBoards do you find to be the most negative/confusing?[/b']
Nothing that anybody here can fix, that's for sure lol. Out of control debates are a staple of the Internet. It's not as if OB is the only place on the Internet where people act like a-holes to each other during heated debates. Nothing here really confuses me very much. Maybe the slight annoyance of not being able to post events, but that's probably for the best since I'd most likely abuse that privilege. :p
B) What is your favorite aspect of OtakuBoards?
[strike]The orgasmic rush of power that comes along with playing god in Play It. Never have I felt such pleasure.[/strike] Play It is still my favorite part of OB. Posting about video games will never get old. I also enjoy Music, Movies and TV a lot. Those two forums are my homes away from home (even though I sort of am at home when I'm posting in those forums... what was my point again?) I think that I made more friends via myOtaku than through OB, so that doesn't really apply here. I hate all of you OBers!!!!! :animeangr EDIT: Gee, what does it say about the Play It mods when we're the only ones joking about abuse of power? :D

Fun topic. :) I remember that I'd just bought a few games around this time last year... Beyond Good & Evil was one of them. I think that I bought Final Fantasy Chronicles, Pikmin 2, and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Pretty nice haul, and most of them were pretty cheap. So, yeah, I was playing all of those games around this time. I probably spent the most time with Pikmin 2, though, because it was the most 'new'. Plus, who can resist running wild on animals with vicious hordes of Pikmin?? I can't, that's for sure. The other games got their fair share of playing time, though. I might've been playing Metroid: Zero Mission around this time, too, but I don't remember. Also, I can't remember exactly when Resident Evil 4 was delayed for the billionth time, but I'm fairly certain that I remember being ultra-pissed that RE4 wasn't being released during the winter holiday lol.

I know people had to have watched the season premiere last night, right? I was honestly surprised at what was inside the hatch.
I think that the ABC commericals showing the door with 'Quarantine' on it threw me off for some reason... I kept thinking that the beginning of the episode was some sort of flashback that was unrelated to the hatch. Oh well, shows how wrong I was, I guess. Mostly I'm wondering not only who exactly that guy is, but how he managed to get all of that crap down there without Rousseau noticing (that guy's talk with Jack couldn't have been more than a few years before the plane crash, so you know that Rousseau was on the island before he was). Or maybe all of that stuff was already down there and he just found it? Who knows. I'm probably way off the mark.
Anyway, it was a good episode. Apparently it was the #1 prime time show last night, so that's cool. :)

I used to have a really bad temper, but I would guess that most teenagers have a bad temper at one point or another lol. Usually I don't progress very far past 'a bit annoyed' now. I haven't gotten really, really angry for more than a second or two in a really long time. Most annoyances really aren't worth bothering with enough to get pissed off over.

GameFAQs.com is the place to go if you want information about what to do in a game. I remember directing a friend of mine to a Pokemon Emerald FAQ there with the exact information you're looking for, so I know that it's there. :) Sure are a lot of help threads here lately...

I had the same reaction as Sennen at first: I was genuinely surprised, and I had no idea what to think lol. The controller certainly looks very interesting. Reading the largely positive reaction to the new controller has kept me reassured, though. I'm certain that the controller will end up being very easy to use. Can't really form a real opinion until I actually use it, though, haha. I'm also very happy that third-parties are apparently in love with the controller. That can only mean great things for third-party support on the Revolution. :)
