1. There are a few things which I find admirable in a person. The first is the ability to actually make fun of yourself. There are way too many people who can't take a joke nowadays and it's refreshing to see someone who can take a joke and poke fun at themselves...I think it shows a great deal of self-confidence, honestly. A little humor is always a good thing. Like others, I value honesty and also when others are straightforward. I don't like it when people needlessly dance around an issue because they think they might hurt someone else's feelings. If you really feel strongly about something, then you're doing others a disservice by trying to avoid confronting it. I also think it's admirable when a person can step back, think about things and admit they're wrong about something. There are a lot of people who are really obstinate about certain things and who are unwilling to admit they're wrong, even when it's quite obvious that they're wrong. A level head is always an admirable trait, I'd say.
2.
The only game that has recently received the "Pissed Erica Off" award would be Star Fox Adventures. Nominees include Super Mario Sunshine and Mega Man X6. Reason? Too obvious. Passing the Krazoa Spirit tests and the notorious time-limit challenges that plague Rare games were enough to induce me with Tourette's syndrome. In fact, all Rare games I've played received my negative attention.
Star Fox Adventures struck me as more boring, than frustrating, but the game did get a bit iffy at times...too much collecting random, useless crap, which is pretty much the case in most of Rare's games. It used to be fun...when it was called Banjo-Kazooie. And I'm not sure if I mentioned this yet, but Super Metroid was slightly frustrating for me because the store I rented it from gave me a crappy copy. Every time I made any sort of progress in the game, it would randomly erase and get rid of everything I had done. I was powerless to stop it ;_;
3. I didn't think the story was really bad...it had a few rough edges but, overall, it was a good read. I like how a lot of the stuff was inspired by the Disco era of the 70s (especially Jack-O, Jermaine and Tito - might I be smelling a Jackson 5 reference? :p). Also, anything to do with the people wanting to watch Starsky and Hutch was pretty funny, heh. So, yeah, overall the story was pretty funny - gave me a good laugh, that's for sure ^_^
4. Heh, I've never seen the anime (what a shocker), but I'll give it a shot...humor happens to be my strong point (I'd like to think so, at least). Name: Shinmaru Lestrange (the name forced itself on me o_-) Gender: Male Age: 17 Description: About 5'9" tall, skinny, athletic build (though he's way too lazy to engage in athletics of any sort). He has short black hair and brown eyes that make you want to pinch his cheeks. Life Story: Shinmaru is the eldest child in his family and he recently moved to an apartment building in the inner-city because he basically did nothing to help out around the house, anyway. He recieved the attention that is usually given to the eldest child but also recieved the responsibilities, which he didn't take kindly to. When it comes to Shinmaru's life, laziness reigns supreme. He barely tries at school, despite his above-average intelligence; he routinely gets B's (and A's on occasion) with little to no effort. However, his lax attitude towards school has forced him to do well on the SAT in order to get into the college of his dreams - which, basically means that Shinmaru is screwed, due to his aversion to studying. When he's not lazing around his apartment building, he's either working in the local fast food joint or sapping away the time that his neighbor, Manic, could be using for studying. If there's anything you'd like me to change, feel free to PM me or something ^_^
5. Two airplane attendants slowed to a stop by an airplane in their car. They both got out and carried the large box that was on top of the car. The box was covered with labels, most of which said "Fragile" and "Don't drop if you don't want to hear whining". The two attendants grunted and heaved as they carried the box to the wheelie cart and wheeled the large box into the back of the airplane. As soon as the box was secure, they closed up the back of the airplane and cleared it for takeoff. A few hours later... The box that was previously loaded into the airplane descended to the ground below. The workers on the airplane had attached a parachute to the box and shoved it out the side door of the airplane. Luckily, the parachute activated at the right time and the box made a soft landing onto the arid sands of the deserted island. Somehow, the box opened and David Duchovny, suit and all, crawled on his hands and knees across the sand. "The...the government..." he choked in a hoarse whisper. "They captured me and took me to this island in the middle of nowhere! The truth must be known!" However, Mr. Duchovny found nobody in particular in which to share his vision of the truth with, so he figured it would be best to find some water. "Oh, Scully...you were right...I shouldn't have meddled in the governement's affairs!" He sobbed loudly, his tears rolling off of his cheeks and splashing onto the picture of Gillian Anderson which he held most dear. David Duchovny continued to sob and wonder aloud why he had not listened to Scully, even though it had been years since he had last spoken to Gillian Anderson. "Water!" David Duchovny spotted a ravine and began greedily lapping water into his wide-open mouth. What he didn't know was that this was all a mirage and he was really scooping sand into his open maw. The poor guy...this is gonna be a long show, eh?
6. I'm an Atheist but I will say that I respect other's rights to worship whatever they want - in a way, I actually find it nice that people can stick to their faith so steadily despite the horrible things that people do and say sometimes. I know the Bible decently enough, I suppose, but I haven't read it in a long time, heh. I will say that, though I don't believe in the Bible as a holy doctrine, it's still more than possible to actually get something out of it, as Dagger said. Whether you believe the events of the Bible actually happened or not, the Bible still offers plenty of moral guidance and things of that nature. I mean, it's pretty powerful when even an Atheist like me can learn lots of stuff from the Bible lol. It's a very wise book, for the most part.
7.
Some of you May Or May Not of Heard This But Kh 2 Is Supposed To Be comming Out In Late April or Early May. :) But That Was Just the First Little Press ConFrence They Had
It would be nice if you had some sort of link so that you could have some tangible proof of this information. News of this sort is okay to post but a link to the site where you got this news from is needed. Also, capatilzing every word in your sentences is a tad annoying to read, so you might want to stop doing that lol.
8. Are you sure that isn't October 19th, 2004? The game kind of would've been out for a long while now if it had been released this past October lol. Anyway, I've never really been interested in the GTA series. I played Grand Theft Auto III and, honestly, I was bored beyond belief. I might give this one a try if one of my friends get it (which they most assuredly will) but I doubt I'd be buying a PS2 for this game.
9. Heh, I just went to driving school to learn how to drive. I still don't have a license, but that's only because I haven't driven the full number of hours required to apply for a license (I still need something like 15 hours o_o). Outside of driving school, my dad helped me with my driving but he's not really a very good teacher lol. He gets really nervous and that kinda made me nervous while driving...luckily, I never made any big mistakes, heh. The teacher at the driving school was a far better teacher, since he was able to keep his cool at all times. And I don't really see the need to have as many cars as you seem to have o_O
10. Heh, I hope we don't get rushed with a series of 'favorites' threads...mind you, this one and the 'favorite death sequence/scene' were well made but, still, I hope this doesn't become a trend lol. My favorite cinematic...that's a tough choice. Overall, the game with the cinematics I enjoy the most is Eternal Darkness, since the scenes are extremely well-acted and move the story along well. Plus, a few of them are just plain exciting, heh. Metal Gear Solid is a close second but a few of its cinematics drag on endlessly. I don't really have a favorite cinematic in particular, but those two games come to mind when I think of games with good cinematics. As for the best graphics, I'd say Wind Waker's cinematic graphics pretty much stomp the crap out of everyone else. A lot of Wind Waker's short cinematic scenes are really breathtaking and absolutely gorgeous. It's kind of sad that so many people hate the cel-shaded style so much, since I still think Wind Waker is one of the best looking, if not the best looking, games I've ever seen.
11. Heh, I somehow managed to overlook your radio.blog for the longest time until I looked in the corner of page and wondered "Hey, just what is that, anyway?" So, I tried it out and, lo and behold, I've become a fan of Scarling. So far, I've listened to the first four songs and the Radiohead cover, my favorite being Band Aid Covers the Bullet Hole (though the cover of Creep is well done, as well). I'll definitely have to think about getting Sweet Heart Dealer, especially if I can find it in the $10-13 range. That's pretty affordable for me lol. I also took the opportunity to listen to the Toadies songs, which you recommended to me quite a while ago, too. Great stuff, heh. You were right about me liking The Toadies ^_^ All of this just confirms the fact that I need more money so that I can enjoy music more =/
12. Heh, I thought this thread was for death scenes at first. Ah well, I'll include my favorite death scene, too, just because I'm that cool. My favorite death sequence is from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Link basically spins around, the screen turns red and he falls to the ground, with this funky scratchy musical sound in the background. It's quite cool, heh. And I agree with you wholeheartedly on Majora's Mask - I actually died once or twice just to see that lol. I also like Final Fantasy VI's because it's so melodramatic lol. After you die, the lead character in your party appears in front of a black screen and bows his/her head in sorrow. It's like...you lost one battle and you're depressed? lol My favorite death scene
is from Eternal Darkness. It happens at the end of Paul Luther's chapter. I loved it because it's just so unexpected when it happens. You think you're going to have a fight with the Black Guardian, then it just kills him. You're so nervous and then Paul is killed (differently, depending on which Artifact you chose) and then you're like "...damn." For death scenes, though, I'm expecting people to choose Aeris's death scene in Final Fanatsy VII...I'm so sick of hearing about that lol. I never really cared for Aeris and seeing Sephiroth kill her was nice for a few seconds but people talk about it so damn often, heh.
13.

Heh, yes, the Back to the Future movies were really good. The first two, in particular, were awesome. The third, I thought, wasn't really that good and it just seemed there to give the series some closure. Still, that doesn't really drag down the other two movies any, heh. I still watch Back to the Future 1 & 2 and enjoy them a great deal.
14. Heh, after thinking it over for a while, I decided that I could not resist joining and poking fun at David Duchovny :p Celebrity: David Duchovny Picture: Three Items: Suit and tie, FBI badge (the one from The Simpsons, of course :p) and a picture of Gillian Anderson (to talk to when he gets lonely at night - poor Mr. Duchovny). Skills: - Solving generally easy problems with nonsensical hunches and logic. - Convincing people to go along with said nonsensical hunches and logic. - Being paranoid about anything and everything. - Looking like he knows what he's talking about, due to his suit and tie. - Being more famous than Gillian Anderson. - Managing to stay alive after doing a movie with both Orlando Jones and Seann William Scott...at the same time! - And, of course, not being killed by aliens. That's a rather handy skill, methinks. What usually goes through his head: - We're so close to the truth! - *after watching Evolution* Wow, I'll star in just about anything. - Where the hell is Scully?! Bio: David Duchovny made quite a career for himself starring on The X-Files along with Gillian Anderson. However, after leaving the show, he has not been so lucky...his movie career has gone downhill and has driven Mr. Duchovny crazy! Now, he is entering this contest in the hopes that he will regain some of his former glory. Along the way, he developed schizophrenia and he now actually thinks that he is Fox Mulder, the character he played on The X-Files. Needless to say, Mr. Duchovny has gone of the deep end, but it's all for the good of the show, I think. And that's about it...I was this close to going with Weird Al Yankovic, but I think I'd have an easier time doing posts as David Duchovny :p
15. Star Trek isn't really my thing...I've never really been able to get into it for whatever reason. Overall, my biggest love in Sci-Fi is Star Wars. The original trilogy is just so damned awesome and the entire universe is just so creative and imaginitive. Of course, novelists have expanded upon the original universe brilliantly and it makes the books just as fun to read through as the original movies were to watch. The original trilogy is probably the best trilogy of movies I've ever seen, heh (just my opinion, though). One sci-fi series I've just barely got into (even though it's been around for years lol) is The X-Files. I never watched the original series because I wasn't really interested in it, but after seeing a few of the episodes recently, I've decided that I am an idiot. The episodes I saw were very well done and managed to capture my attention from start to finish, which is quite rare nowadays. I watched the movie recently, too, and it was quite good. Science-fiction is a genre that I happen to enjoy quite a bit, because I'm a pretty imaginitive person and I like thinking about those kinds of things. It's fun to see a movie where everyone just let their imaginations run wild and, a lot of the time, science-fiction achieves that.
16.
Do not even TRY to blame the the start of the bad economy on Bush. It's stupid to blame[/i'] the whole thing on Bush. So what if he's bad at reviving it quickly? That's not a reason to blame it on him. If he needs to use a campain of 9/11, I could care less. I believe he has patrism for the US; he's trying to remind people of how he lead the US through the tragedy rather than remind people of how many people died.
It's pretty much common knowledge that presidents will get the credit for the economy, whether good or bad...however, maladjusted is pretty correct for saying that Bush isn't responsible (not that much, anyway) for the bad economy. There are so many different factors and variables that contribute to the economy, that it's silly to pin its successes and failures on a single person. Clinton got tons of credit for the fact that the economy was strong during his administration. Did he deserve a lot of that credit? Not really. Bush is getting bashed for the fact that the economy is a bit poor right now. Does he deserve to be bashed so much for that? No, I don't think so. However, presidents will continue to be praised/bashed because they're the people in charge. Anyway, enough of that...I'm not really offended by the commercial at all. I've seen politicians pull far worse stuff than this. Honestly, who among us, if we were in Bush's position, would not jump at the chance to use 9/11 to generate some positive buzz for re-election? I know I probably would. As has been said before, presidents who are running for re-election are going to emphasize the strongest points of their term and it just so happens that Bush's strongest point was 9/11. Ironically enough, it's really no different from Clinton using the success of the economy to help himself get re-elected.
17. Man, am I ever jumping back into this thread late. lol After finally buying Metroid: Zero Mission *pauses to thank Tony for selling it to him* and getting some time to play it just now, I'd have to say that I like what I've played through so far. Right now,
I'm in Kraid and I'm on my way to fight him.
So far, the game hasn't really presented me with too many troubles. The enemies are fairly easy to kill, except for a couple of the mini-bosses (I guess you could call them mini-bosses) I've seen, which have been a tad trickier to fell.
I found the Acid Worm pretty fun to fight, even if the fight wasn't really that difficult. Something about boss fights that force you to use quick reactions always strikes me as fun no matter how easy they may be sometimes.
The only place where I even had a bit of trouble so far was in
the Chozo Ruins, where you fall through the bridge. Took me a couple seconds before I realized that I should blast the crap out of the walls so that I could find the hidden passage - it pays to be well acquainted with the Metroid series sometimes :p
Overall, the game is good so far. Of course, you have the obvious things that come with Metroid, such as good graphics, great controls and fantastic music. I'm looking forward to doing some more exploring later on today when I play it again, heh.
18. Honestly, I think the game looks really good, too. I don't know what the hell you other people are looking at lol. At times, the graphics have been among the best on the GameCube (not often, but at times). I haven't had as much time with the game so far as I'd like, but I'm definitely having fun with it. You definitely get into the real-time fighting more than the turn-based stuff in other Final Fantasies. I've never been a big fan of turn-based stuff...unless the battle system has some fun quirks, I always end up horribly bored lol. With this, at least you're always taking part in the action, heh. I'll expel more thoughts on this game (maybe) as I get further along.
19. As much as children dislike it, it's for the best that parents (most parents, anyway) to have the final say - I know that if I had been running without any structure or anything, I wouldn't be half the person I am today. I'm lucky enough to have really good parents. At times, I've felt they've been overprotective but, in retrospect, it's easier to see why they've made some of the decisions they've made. Let's face facts here - a lot of children (including myself) don't grow up in the best of environments and sometimes being overprotective is needed. Luckily, though, my parents have given me the freedom to grow and develop into the person that I am today. Let's take religion, for example...my mom is a Baptist and my dad is a Catholic. However, neither of my parents have really tried to force their respective religions upon me. Sure, they took me to church when I was younger but we stopped going when they realized that I wasn't really getting anything out of it. I'm an Atheist but I've grown up with a lot of the more important moral values that some of these religions teach - after all, you don't have to believe the story in order to get something out of it. But that's a whole different story, heh. It's the same thing with video games, television and music. My parents took the initiative to step in and stop me from being exposed to entities that they felt would not be appropriate for someone of my age. However, once they felt that I was mature enough to partake in them, then it's all fair game. I've been playing M rated games since I was about eleven years old because I understood the difference between a game and reality - a difference that is one of the many things I've learned from my parents. Sometimes I resent them a bit but it's only natural. You just have to realize that, most of the time, what they're doing is for the best. The child is usually thinking in the present, while the parent is mindful of the future. They want to see their child grow up into someone that fulfills their true potential. If you're a bit young, you probably don't realize that now. I certainly didn't and I don't think my parents expected me to come to that realization for quite a while. However, with age comes experience and with experience comes wisdom. And it's wisdom that (most of the time) parents are imparting upon their children.
20. The bell rang loudly, a piercing cry through the classroom. Everyone looked around, startled. Evidently, the bell had caught them by surprise, even though I knew they had been waiting for it the entire time. From the back of the classroom, it was easy to notice each student's furtive glances at the clock every few seconds. Nearly everyone in the room had been engaged in some sort of asinine conversation over the past hour...the teacher didn't seem to pay any heed to what everyone else was doing. Pretty typical, though I have to admit, I took advantage of it myself, at times. As everyone else shuffled a slow march towards the door, I stretched a bit cracked my back. My vertebrae were still a tad sore after sitting still for so long. I got up slowly and stooped down to pick up my backpack. I slung it over my shoulder, the heavy weight upsetting the balance of my shoulders for a moment. After correcting this, I strode slowly towards the classroom door. The teacher said good-bye to me but I barely heard it; my mind was already elsewhere. I stepped outside and looked skyward. It was extremely gray and gloomy...it would probably rain later on in the day, which wasn't really a problem for me. It would be a nice change of pace from the nonstop heat; the hot rays of the sun got really oppressing and overwhelming after a while. As I continued my stroll, I spied a couple making out in a corner. They seemed completely oblivious to everything going on around them. The couple were practically engulfing each other - it didn't seem to me like they cared who or what saw them. Obviously, getting to class wasn't the highest of their priorities. Of course, once security passed them and began to cajole them towards class, they would most likely become embarrassed enough to listen. I never really knew what happened since I neither cared enough nor had the time to stick around and watch. This sort of stuff was pretty trivial to me, anyway. I never watched this stuff for more than a few seconds. These people were quite boring. I continued my walk, taking long strides and not really paying attention to the people around me. I was bumped into quite often but it wasn't really my problem; if they had cared enough to not bump into me, they would've evaded me. As I approached the end of one of the school buildings, I saw a group of people conversing in Spanish. I had taken two years of Spanish, and I was half-Mexican, after all, but I still didn't understand a word that they were saying. Which was just as well, I suppose, since I doubt I would've given a crap about what they were talking about, anyway. They were most likely gang members or something...you never knew about that sort of thing around here. I was about to cut across the grass towards my Calculus class, when I realized I had to take a leak. I looked down at my watch...I still had about four minutes until the bell rang. I figured that would be enough time. Even if I was late, the teacher would still cut me some slack. I don't know why but all my teachers seem to like me. I think it's because I know when to shut up, stop complaining and do my ******* work. Judging from the way most teachers become bitter and cynical around these parts, I think my assessment is pretty accurate. I walked over to the bathroom, avoiding people in order to get to there quickly. Truth be told, I didn't even have to go very badly, but there's only one bathroom open in the whole damn school, so lines develop pretty quickly. It's kind of sad to see a bunch of people crowded in front of a bunch of dirty, yellowed stalls in the hopes of being able to take a piss before class started but you took what you could get. I took one look at the line in front of me and decided it wouldn't be worth it. I could always ask my teacher for a pass so that I could go to the bathroom later on; he pretty much let anyone go to the bathroom no matter what. Nice guy, I think. I stepped back outside. The clouds were beginning to part a bit, so some sun was shining through. Not very good news, in my opinion, because I really couldn't stand the sun. It's a truly great irony...I hate the sun and I pretty much live in sun central, Southern California. If there's a God, I'm sure He's laughing his *** off right now. I'm laughing with you, buddy. The faint beams of sunlight streaking down on the ground seemed to highlight all the trash that was littered across the campus. The head of security, Mrs. Rogers, always seemed to be buzzing around the campus getting on people's cases for leaving trash around everywhere. Not that she made a difference...I think, when it came to trash, most people were just as indifferent about it as I am about most things. What was odd about that is that I always threw my trash away...it was just one of those things that I was used to doing. Either way, Mrs. Rogers wasn't really making any sort of difference on anyone around here. I checked my watch once more...two minutes left. I quickened my pace a bit, just out of habit. My third and fifth period teacher, Mr. Vetter, frowned upon people being late to his classes. If you were late, he made you clean out the kiln room with his dirty mops, which wasn't really a fun thing to do. I pretty much forced myself to be on time to his classes, since I didn't want to end up mopping anything. It never really occured to me that I was heading towards Calculus and not Ceramics or Art History but I suppose that little detail didn't really matter. I passed the two phones, which were in a little structure that looked sort of like a cage. The cage was locked and there was a white dog inside. It looked sort of like a wolf but I figured that it wasn't one. It didn't really matter one way or another to me, since I'd never been able to figure out dog breeds in the first place. The only ones I knew were the obvious ones like labradors, dalmations and those other breeds that people recognize from random Disney movies. I just labeled this one a mutt and thought nothing else of it. The pound would be coming by later on to pick it up, so it wasn't like the dog would be there again tomorrow. I finally approached the building with my Calculus class in it. There was a large puddle where the asphalt stopped and the narrow strip of concrete that ran in front of all of the classrooms began. All of the other people were trying their damndest to avoid stepping in the water but I walked through it without a second thought. This action got me a few odd looks but they were looks that I probably would've gotten later on in the day, anyway. People had a tendency to look at me sort of weird; they're probably afraid because I'm so different from them. Or maybe they just don't want to admit that I might be sort of like them. Who knew, really? All I know is that I didn't really care. It's just one of those things you only think of in retrospective. I reached my point of destination after stepping through a couple more puddles and walking around a few more people. Room 108, Calculus AB, 2nd period. I stepped inside. The classroom was much warmer than it was outside but that didn't stop people from complaining about the cold. I didn't really see what the big deal was - I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts and I was actually quite content. And then, there were the others, all bundled up in jackets and pants and scarves, still under the impression that it was cold. Either they were weird or I was. I'm still not sure, but oh well. I slung my backpack off of my shoulders and onto the floor. It hit the ground with an audible thump and I sat down in my chair, ready to coast through another Calculus lesson. Just like always. Just like everyday. Just another six minutes in between classes. EDIT: Changed a couple things, made the story a bit less vague. Thanks for the suggestions, Mitch.
21.
All I can say is that at the moment the thing that is pissing me off most in the gaming world is Sonic Adventure DX directors cut. I have 100% with the six characters and then I try the Super Sonic ending! ARRRGGGHHHHHHH the damn Perfect Chaos keeps hitting me no matter how much I move and where I go it is so frustrating that I turned it off in anger!:flaming:
I haven't played much of Sonic Adventure DX but Sonic Adventure 2 DX is just a frustrating game, in that it's so damn boring. The Sonic/Shadow levels are very fun, to an extent, but everything else is just yawn-inducing. The Knuckles/Rogue levels are the most blantant offendors. Running around and digging for crystal shards with crappy music playing in the background, to go along with the nonsensical camera angles, I guess, is not my idea of a good time. But who knows? Maybe Sonic Team has a different concept of fun.
22.
It's internet big-dick-syndrome.
Are you sure you haven't developed it? >:3 As for Mr. Nader...well, of course he'll draw votes toward himself; that's pretty much what prominent third-party candidates do. He'll never get near enough to votes to even have a snowball's chance of winning a state but he will draw votes. Personally, Ralph Nader is way too far to the left to ever get me to vote for him, but that's just me, heh. Frankly, none of the candidates really appeal to me too much, so I'll have to end up taking the "lesser of two evils" approach come election day.
23. I suppose I'm popular here for whatever reason...I wasn't even aware that people knew me outside of the gaming forums for the longest time, heh. I think people only know me because I'm in chats all the time lol. The gaming forum is really the only place that I post frequently and there are people who know me that just about never go in there...it's definitely the chats that have gotten me known. I don't know whether or not that's a good thing but oh well. Right now, in high school, I guess I hold an average amount of popularity. I have a lot of acquaintences but not many people that I would actually call friends. I talk to most of the people in my classes but I only go out of my way to start up conversations with a few people, heh. In all honesty, there aren't many people in my school that I'd care to talk with, anyway. I'm guessing it will be the same for me in college (though, I probably won't know everyone in my classes since I'm guessing I'll be in rather large classes). I won't go out of my way to make friends but there will probably be a couple people with whom I'll be comfortable making conversation with. As for the whole social hierarchy thing...I've never given much thought to it and I doubt I ever will. All that categorizing and worrying about what's popular and what's not just gets on my nerves lol. It's too much to pay attention to.
24. Roland stepped outside and grunted to himself. He thought Blaze and Loren were extremely difficult to deal with but that wasn't really much coming from him, since he found all people exceptionally difficult to deal with. He pulled out a cigarette and put it into his mouth. He took out a match and scratched it on the side of his holster. The flame brightened into life and emanated heat around the area where Roland gripped the match with the tips of his fingers. Roland raised the match to his face slowly. The tip of the flame caught the end of the cigarette and lit it. Roland shook the match until the flame went out and discarded it on the ground. He took the match out of his mouth and exhaled slowly, the smoke rising into the air. Roland didn't smoke very often; only when he had deep thinking to do. However, he had been smoking a lot more as of late. He had joined SENTINEL at the very beginning, with very few qualms. After all, they were against The Turks and so was he. It was as simple as that. Roland had been rethinking his position with SENTINEL a lot, though. True, they shared in his hatred of The Turks...but none of them were really easy to work with, either. In fact, now that he thought about it, he viewed them as being just as evil as The Turks were. But, if he thought about it in those terms, was he not just as evil as SENTINEL? This sort of thing was very confusing to Roland. Lately, he had been assuring himself that as soon as SENTINEL took care of The Turks, he'd be able to go on his way. However, after witnessing how they handled their business, he was not sure it would be that easy. More likely than not, they would not let Roland out of their clutches so easily. Roland took another breath and let it out a few seconds later. Every time he thought about everything, it all seemed to grow that much more complicated. Roland looked up into the air. He hated being confined in one of Midgar's sectors; not being able to see the sky and the endless patterns of the stars painted above was a bit unsettling to him. Roland was not one to be unsettled very often but unfamiliarity tended to do that to a person. As tough as Roland had become over the years, he was still not accustomed to the unfamiliar, which was a major weakness of his. He was not sure whether or not this was apparent to others but he was fairly certain that he would not want to find out. A few minutes later, Roland tired of standing outside of the warehouse and thinking the same thoughts over and over again. He didn't really need sleep but he could not think of any better way to occupy his time. Roland took his cigarette out of his mouth and tapped it lightly, sending the ash to the ground. He dropped the cigarette onto the ground and stamped it lightly, putting out the light. With one last solemn look at the roof, he opened the door to the warehouse and trudged off to sleep.
25.
I definitely sound a lot more casual when I talk, compared to when I type. It's not because I'm saying different words though...it's just because speech is so different to text. So even then, the environment that you're in changes how you're perceived by others.
James makes a good point...I know that the way I speak and the way I type/write are vastly different from each other. My writing style is definitely much wordier than my speaking style lol. I'm far more casual when I'm speaking compared to when I'm typing. It's a rather large difference, I think.
