Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel When I think "overrated" I think of games that everyone loves that I just couldn't stand. Stuff like Star Fox Adventures doesn't count, because I really don't know many people that liked it (I sure didn't). SSBM would though, since it is so widely liked. That's my opinion on the definition though, so it obviously doesn't mean much. Obviously, anything could really be "overrated" to someone else lol.
I pretty much agree with your definition of overrated; I really don't know how someone else can put it differently (but they try, God bless 'em lol). When I think "overrated" I think of things that other people like and the fact that I can't for the life of me figure out why. Games that are overrated, I just can't see what the big fuss is about. Either that, or I can't see why the games get high ratings. There are some games that I thought were overrated that I still like. I felt that Majora's Mask was slightly overrated but I still found it to be a very enjoyable game. You can still enjoy games that you think are overrated, in my opinion; just not as much as everyone else, heh.

It's not a problem for me, though I don't have millions of people on my buddy list, anyway. It might be helpful for the few that have tons of names on their buddy lists but, really, how many people actually have so many that they just can't check the names themselves?

Very interesting choices so far (except for Enter the Matrix - that's a little too obvious lol). I'm surprised at the amount of hatred vented towards Smash Bros. Melee. I think it was much more than a simple update to Super Smash Bros. The trophies added a lot of replay value as did the different characters. Plus, Adventure Mode added a breath of fresh air to a single player mode that got stale pretty quickly. Plus, there's a lot more strategy to the game than people think.

Heh, nice work, Gavynn. I especially enjoyed the "subtle" Ghostbusters reference you threw in there. And the Chris Tucker cameo, too. You went all out for the celebrity power in this episode, didn't you? Man, I can't wait for next season.

Jeff Hardy isn't even a WWE wrestler any more. He was fired from the company months ago. Hulk Hogan isn't in the WWE anymore, either. My favorite wrestler isn't even on that list (in fact, my three favorite wrestlers from both RAW and Smackdown! aren't even on your list). My favorite wrestler right now is Chris Jericho. First of all, he has the best mic skills in the WWE. The man can cut an amazing promo with little effort. He doesn't have a talk show on RAW for nothing, you know. Second, the man knows how to be a heel. With just a few simple words or actions, he can get the crowd to absolutely hate him. He can also get the crowd to love him just as fast (the crowd was going crazy with "Y2J!" chants after he beat up Christian). A wrestler who can have the crowd in the palm of his hand like that has to be pretty special. Third, and most important, he has actual wrestling skills. A lot of guys in the WWE manage to get by without being very good at wrestling. Chris, however, is one of the best, if not the best, though it's debatable, in the business right now. He's one of the rare guys who can make a bad wrestler good, a good wrestler great, and a great wrestler...well, let's just say it's something special. Just in case you were wondering, my two other favorites on RAW are Shawn Michaels and Christian, while my favorites on Smackdown! are Kurt Angle, Matt Hardy and Eddy Guerrero (with John Cena and Chris Benoit not too far behind).

Heh, nice story. I'm flattered that I was in it... ...wait. I wasn't in it?! I see how it is...j/k... I thought it was a well-written story. The paragraphs were a little too close together for my tastes and that made the story a bit hard to read. And there were some mispellings, missed quotations, etc. but that's understandable. However, I won't just sit here and nitpick. I enjoyed the story very much and I thought it was pretty cool. Though, it's probably better that I wasn't in it. I can't skateboard to save my life, heh.

Writing Original "anime-esque" fiction [Mature for language and violence]
Shinmaru replied to Syk3's topic in Creative Works
Pretty good work for your first fanfic (if it could really be classified as a fanfic). I thought the whole thing was very well described. There's a real sense that you know the exact place that you're talking about and that's very important. Most fanfics I read just make a couple descriptions and little else. It was nice to see that you took the task of describing the setting seriously. I thought the action was pretty good, as well, though I felt the dialogue was a bit flat. But nothing that can't be worked on, though. It wasn't even that big of a problem, seeing as there wasn't much dialogue in this anyway - mostly description. Overall, I think the story shows potential to be a great story. With some improvement, this could turn out to be a great piece of work. Good luck, man. -
Mallow's wish was that he wasn't such a crybaby. Hehe, poor Mallow. Q: Name all the bosses that you beat to get Star Pieces in Super Mario RPG.

Very thorough review. I commend you. Ikaruga is a very, very good shooter. I've had the good fortune of actually playing the game and it really is a top-notch game, much less a top-notch shooter. Ikaruga, like lots of other great shooters, can get pretty crazy even after a few moments. The sheer amount of stuff that appears on the screen at one time is simply mind boggling. It's an amazing sight to see. So, yeah, I would wholeheartedly recommend Ikaruga to any fan of shooters. It's a great buy.

The first person to pin Goldberg in WCW was Kevin Nash, who pinned Goldberg after he was attacked by Scott Hall with a tazer. The second person to pin Goldberg was Bret Hart, who pinned him after interference from Sid Vicious and The Outsiders (Hall and Nash). Q: Whom did The Rock beat (as Rocky Miavia) when he first captured the Intercontinental Title?

Yeah, actually, I have seen Zorro. Didn't really raise my opinion of Mr. Banderas. Something about him just makes me dislike him. I just find him very annoying. But I'll probably end up seeing this movie, anyway; it looks quite interesting from what I can tell.

Thank God this is being put out on GameCube. I would've been mega-pissed had Capcom totally ignored it's Nintendo fanbase and only put this out on PS2. Anyway, I'm a huge fan of the older Mega Man titles (you know, when the series was actually difficult) and I'm raring to get a crack at them again to see if I'm still as good (read: bad) as I was when I first played those games. And I'll be very willing to get it as long as it's at a reasonable price.

I want to see this movie because Johnny Depp is in it and it looks great. However, Antonio Banderas is making me a bit wary...not a big fan of his. I'll probably give the movie a chance, though, because it's looking pretty good.

Not odd at all. My best friend's favorite is Return of the Jedi. We've had some pretty heated arguments over which is better, Jedi or Empire. We're dorks, so you can take that for what it's worth.

Heh, I'm a huge Star Wars fan. Empire Strikes back is, and probably always will be, my favorite of the films, followed closely by A New Hope. In fact, the first trilogy was very, very good; all three films were fantastic. The Phantom Menace...not so much. The acting seemed really stiff to me and it didn't seem they were putting any effort into it at all. The fight scenes were really good and the movie looked fantastic, but great fight scenes and good looking scenes do not make a great movie (see The Matrix: Reloaded). Attack of the Clones was even worse, in my opinion, because the dialogue was pretty cliche and all weirded out. Especially Anakin's "romance" lines to Queen Amidala. Bleh, even I wouldn't resort to lines like that. I've read several of the books, as well...in fact, I love many of the books even more than the actual movies (be sure to check out Timothy Zahn's books - fantastic work). My favorite of the books would have to be the one I've read most recently, Vision of the Future. So much stuff surprised me in that book, it was unbelievable. Very cool book.

Hehe, that's exactly right. The Rock and Mankind's tag team was known as The Rock and Sock Connection (heh, I have such fond memories of that tag team...The Rock and Mick Foley were hilarious together). Go ahead and ask a question.

I thought that the best part of RAW, by far, was the couple minutes of face pop that Chris Jericho got. My God, it was beautiful. The fans were chanting "Y2J! Y2J!" like crazy. It was awesome. Of course, the WWE had to ruin it by having Jericho stay as a heel...*grumbles* I thought Smackdown was pretty good; I especially loved the return of Chavo Guerrero. Good to see him back, especially since he's still siding with Eddy. I thought the WWE would turn Chavo against him but I'm glad to see that they haven't. That Benoit/Rhyno match was awesome, too. By the way, I can't wait for next week's Smackdown. Kurt Angle...Brock Lesnar...Iron Man Match...it could be the best TV match in history if done right. I wish it were next Thursday already...

There has never been a WWF(E) Women's Tag Team Championship, nor has a team of women won the tag team championships. Q: What was the name of the tag team of Mankind and The Rock?

Bleh, I hate sick days. First of all, it's really, really boring around my house if nobody is there with you. Second, there is absolutely nothing on television until the afternoon, anyway. And third, if I miss even one little day of school, I fall behind A LOT. Especially this year, since I'm taking a lot of AP Classes. I'm going to have to will myself to go to school everyday. Shouldn't be a problem, since I don't get sick very often and when I do, it's on the weekends.

I sing in the shower and I think that I'm singing softly, but my sister has told me several times that she hears me singing when she passes by lol. I don't really sing that well, but, as many people know, it sounds a hell of a lot better in the shower.
Originally posted by SpikeSpiegel i thought i was the only half spanish moron who couldnt even speak what he hears all the time. i took two years..passed one an failed the other. i can get by with basic crap but not the more complex stuff. i understand it more than i can speak it. speed of the other persons dialect(sp?) doesnt seem to bother me either. i guess thats because i used to live in a predominantly spanish town of every kind of spanish backgound. didnt help me in school though.
Heh, I'm half-Mexican, but I'm not a moron. As I said before, I'm not very good at speaking it, but I can understand it fairly well (and, for reference, I got an A- in Spanish 1 and a B- in Spanish 2...it's just that I have a horrible memory). I live in a predominantly Spanish town, but we only speak English at my house. It's very hard to jump in and learn a language when you've only known one your whole life, especially if you give it the kind of lackadaisical effort that I gave it (especially in Spanish 2). So, yeah, people are usually surprised when they learn that I don't know much Spanish. Just the basics for me, though, I can usually get by on that when I visit other people's houses. At least I have a decent Spanish accent when I speak it ^_^

My pet peeve in the realm of writing is people who don't give constructive criticism. And I'm not just talking about people who just insult other's work. I'm also speaking of the people who just say "Good job! Great story!" and whatnot. That's nice and all, but it doesn't help me become a better writer. I know my work is nowhere near perfect and I'd like to know what needs to be worked on. That's pretty much my only 'rule' when it comes to writer's etiquette. You can flame me as hard as you want or kiss my *** as much as you want, just as long as you give me some constructive criticism.
-
I took Spanish for two years and I know a bit but I'm not really that good at it. Which is ironic, considering I'm half-Mexican. I've had too much English beaten into me lol. But, seriously, Spanish is a good language to learn for anyone who wants to be bilingual. It's not very tough; it's a hell of a lot easier than English to learn.

Heaven's Cloud took the words right out of my mouth (though, he explained it better than I probably would've). The Cowboy Bebop soundtrack is definitely my favorite anime soundtrack. The music just fits in well with every aspect of the series and, I have to say, Jazz works very very well in chase scenes. It really builds a sense of urgency and I always thought that was pretty cool.

I always thought Metroid was pretty hard but I never realized how hard it really was until I replayed it on Metroid Prime. That game can be a real ***** sometimes. None of The Simpsons games make any sense. Ever play Virtual Bart? Nothing in that game made any sense at all. It seemed to me that whether or not you were able to get through the levels was completely random. Stupid game.
