Ack, I couldn't come up with a good quote, so I stole one from the series and appended it! ^_^ The hex effect is my second version actually. The first version, made to look like it came from MGS, went on a banner that was never used. I figured that I shouldn't let the thing go to waste and modified it for this banner. Hehe, I enhanced the eyes on both the pictures since they weren't as pronounced as they originally were after resizing. Besides that, any chances or fixes, just ask. EDIT: heh, smoothed out the background a little.

The ending of every word is what is important in Latin, not the order. The ending tells you everything you need to know about the word. Agricola = farmer Agricolae = of the farmer Agricolam = farmer is the object of the verb (not used for linking verbs) etc. etc. Additionally, Latin doesn't have articles, and pronouns are only used for emphasis since they are implied if there is no noun present (like in english imperative sentences). Although there is no order requirement, having a verb anywhere but at the end of the sentence is generally used for emphasis. I'm going to steal Mitch's sentence since it's been four years. Ego sum nihil = I am nothing (strongest emphasis made) Ego nihil sum = I nothing am = I am nothing Nihil sum = Nothing I/he/she is = I/He/She is nothing. As you can see, they all mean the same thing, but emphasises are changed based on what is implied and what is said/written. Hope that helped. It's easier than you think, MUCH easier than what most people will admit to.

There's something to be said of an anime that's licensed during only it's infant stages, completing so few episodes and not even finishing a sub-saga. The series was met with open hands by an ever-increasing audience, and was immediately acquired by the same people who have the rights to the manga: ADV. It'll be changed to Chrono Crusade, haha. Although all sub groups have officially stated their termination of subbing the series, that doesn't mean all of them have. It would have been more proper to say that most have. Additionally, it's one of the better/best groups that is still subbing it. If you want a link, you'll have to PM me. Be warned, however, as these are fansubbers who don't aim to be the fastest, but hold the best translation and encode. If you do want the fastest, I can link you to that as well (PM me with which one you want).

I've played the video game that was on Dreamcast. Was the story the same? If so, it was... unique. A bit weird since the main character did not have a... character. The universe they created was moody, to say the least. It did have some nice quirks, but overall, the game's story and atmosphere felt audience-unfriendly.
Anyway, I'm stopping here because I'm not getting everything worded the way I wanted to... but basically I don't think you two are approaching the terms hardcore and casual from the same angles lol.
Hmm...? What do you mean stopping here? You thoroughly finished making you statement, what more needed to be said? O_o Anyway, I see your point. I forgot about the meaty middle of normal gamers, haha, so completely disregard my previous post. As true as it probably is, I just don't like the idea of a hardcore gamer being one who needs to immerse himself into the industry and business aspects of gaming.

It's 4 KBs, and could have been smaller, haha.

"Statistics?" "Consumer?" "Money?" "Marketing?!" It sounds as if you are talking about a smart shopper rather than a hardcore gamer. Of course, our meaning of "hardcore gamer" could be different. To make a parallel comparison, when you don't know anything about a field - say, cars - you tend to listen and accept what people in the field say. A mechanic has a background on cars and knows quality from grabage. Most likely, when the mechanic needs something to be fixed, he/she (henceforth just "he" and "his") utilizes his experience and background. The mechanic first needs to develop and grow in order to gain that experience, until he gets to the point where he can make decisions and conclusions on his own. Now, if a gamer has reached hardcore status, he already knows what a good game is. While helpful, he does not require the opinion of others. He has a background on games and can easily discern "original" from "uninventive" no matter how hard that line is blurred. A hardcore gamer is experienced and learned in games, and can easily adapt to a situation within a game. He'll find out if the game is flawed, or if his own skills need to be tweaked. He can play games just long enough to find out if it's a game for him. Simply put, it's a hardcore gamer's "thing" to know the difference between good and bad games, just as a full-fledged mechanic knows the difference between good and bad parts. Anyway, the point is, the games a hardcore gamer plays does not determine whether he is hardcore. Buying smart means you are a smart shopper - not a hardcore gamer. Pertaining to this discussion, your ability to play games and tell good from bad is what makes you hardcore - no magazines or gaming info required. The casual gamers could also be the ones reading and listening to magazine and other "professional" sources, buying all the games magazines recommend, regardless of whether or not the game is suited to them. I remember Gran Turismo being stated as a game for both driving fans and casual gamers alike. I played GT - was it for me? Simply put, I'm not partial to driving games, and GT was not spectacular enough to make me feel any different. I've also been at game stores when a little kid runs in and points to a game. He yells to his mom, "I want this one!" Mom examines the box and responds, "Are you sure you want this? It looks kind of violent." "It was GAME OF THE YEAR!, mom." Now, I can't judge if this kid is hardcore or not, but if that's his reasoning for buying a game, then I would wonder if the statistics separate gullible from hardcore.

Is there a certain amount of time you want in between each slide, and how long do you want each slide to show (in seconds)? Lastly, is there a certain font you would like this banner written in?

Eh... (if you could see my hand, it's see-sawing). I don't know... The banner certainly has potential, but right now, there are a few issues I think you should address.

"Version 7 Project." That entire text is a little jaggy. Try blurring the edges to fix that distracting bug.
The cropping is really nice, but there are some part white parts on the hand.
The background needs some texture. The color scheme is great, but it seems like it needs a little more of something.
Aside from those little problems, the banner is well-suited for a GTA theme. You hit the nail on the head with the font on "OtakuBoards" if you were aiming to match it with the GTA logo.
These days, it's fair to say that the majority of gamers don't read the magazines or anything.
This comment is bothering me. What does it prove/mean to read about video games? I lost interest in reading about games a year or two ago. I found myself looking way too far ahead and not appreciating the "now" of video gaming. To say the least, anticipating a game that's months away does nothing to further credit the games you have right now. Reading about games means nothing. If anything, it detracts from the gaming scene, since people waste time reading about games rather than playing them.

I wish the successive play was like DMC, where you kept all your upgrades. You can't even change the difficulty. Yeah, the only thing that comes over are the scarabs you had. I had a total of 45, so I'm assuming that there's 50. I wonder what that blacksmith gives you when you get fifty... Haha, I don't think I'll ever find them all. The change of costume was also a disappointment. The plasma sword itself is just a costume change for the Dragon Sword - there's absolutely no difference. I have to disagree with ScirosDarkblade about the costume, though: it is a really cool outfit, and matches the "plasma sword" nicely. Also, you glow yellow/gold instead of blue when you do swift attacks. Oh, right, the specs: I beat the game on Hard last week on Tuesday. I tend not to bother with the sissy levels, so I just go to the hardest one available. I didn't get anything besides the movie thing, so I'm hoping that the newly-released Very Hard mode will be more rewarding. To my disappointment, the level of difficulty doesn't seem to have changed from Hard to Very Hard. In fact, after playing through Hard, NG on Very Hard is surprisingly easy. Don't expect DMC's Normal-Hard-DMD curve of accomodation: NG does not adjust to your increasing skill.

Everyone has different things they feel strongly about. Just to give an example, there's the whole religion thing that OB is humorously sensitive about. Not everyone cares about the human condition as much as they should. However, some people are overly-caring. It's alright to sympathize and decorate those who suffer more than the average person, but it's not alright to overdo it. Acknowledging their suffering and will is enough, but if their lives start influencing you negatively (i.e., you are too depressed), you are caring too much. You have no responsibility aside from helping as much as you can - if even that. Of course, that's just my view about how one should think about the human condition. Keep that in mind as I write the following. Salvation, in its purest form, is achieved by working together (not just in terms of religion). Accepting help from others, and in turn, helping others, is the true philosophy. When someone falls so deep into depravity that he cannot climb out, he needs that helping hand. Again, remember I'm stating my input, not facts. ^_^
I kill Doku but how the hell do i get to the upper level. I know you have to use the platforms to get up their but i can't get it right. So can you tell me how to erage the platforms to get up their. Can you help me. :help:
Ah yes, I remember this part vividly. The way I figured it out was rather scientific: I made assumptions, and based on those assumptions, saw what options were left. If you assume that the golden scarabs are only in places where you go out of your way to get them, then it's clear that mounting that area is useless. Second assumption: hitting the last switch in the series is important because it is the last switch, but that doesn't mean the others are. Anyway, to get to the point of it all, follow the series of switches till you get to the last one you can reach. Then restore all of the previous ones while going back down (you might have had to keep one of them on - I don't remember). Now, go to the platform that was activated by the very last switch. Don't jump up to where the golden scarab is - instead, wall ride - jump - wall ride - jump - wall ride - jump. That should bring you onto one of the other platforms. From there, it's pretty straightforward. If you can't seem to go on, fiddle with some of the switches. Hope that helps. Oh, and you didn't kill Doku - you removed him from his physical manifestation. ;)

I thought I'd just mention something about my personal experience with the Suikoden series and when I came across it. I played part II first, and it was during a time when my interest and hope for RPGs was dwindling since every successive Final Fantasy - the only RPG series I deemed good - was the same thing, getting worse with each iteration. I thought RPGs reached their limit with FF3 and that there was no hope for the genre. I came across Suikoden II. It's still my favorite RPG to this day - well, II and III are pretty close. To say the least, I feel that all RPGs could learn a thing or two about how to create a world instead of a linear, restricting storyline from this series. Yes, Suikoden is primarily linear, but it doesn't give you that feeling because of how rich the world is.

1st Banner While I do like the art on the picture, and how you put the .hack logo in, the BG just doesn't fit. You should have something more .hack-ish, if that meaks sense. Come to think of it, I did this neat trick for an MGS banner once, where I made all hexagons in the BG: that would actually be perfect for this banner. Try something less "silly" for the BG. 2nd Banner The best of the bunch, I'd say. This banner has a really professional feel to it. There are a few cropping problems with the stock picture, but if you can take care of that, I'd have no qualms with this piece. 3rd Banner Seems lazy, and I'm not even talking from a Photoshop perspective. It has a cool idea, but I think you could do without the color inversion and try something more "risky." I hope that helps. ^_^

I like the softness feel of the banner overall as well as the pic in the forefront. Yes, this banner feels like it wants words on it, haha. I like the positioning of the faded pictures, as well as the BG (grey fits suprisingly well). Again, it seems incomplete without text. If nothing else, maybe you could put the user's name (JazzLady) at the bottom, between the two faded pics?
-
The pictures you've attached... Do you want them also on the banner, or are we allowed to use any pics of Kakashi we see fit? Heh, I'm just wondering since you didn't specify. ^_^;

Request Will Someone please Make a Robin and Amon banner?
AzureWolf replied to Shadow Wolf's topic in Creative Works
I know I shouldn't but I'm trying to do something with the banner you made me, Azure-Sama. I'm trying to get it in my signature on the Pokemon Tower Forums, but it is being very difficult with me. I'm trying to see that If I attatch it from my own computer if it will work, but I don't think so. It's the way the HTML is written. I need the HTML to be in an Imagae tag format, or it won't load. Help please?
Heh, any attachment on OB can't be used anywhere else. Use this address instead: http://home.earthlink.net/~azurwolf/images/Banner-Shadow-Wolf.jpg -
It's never about the console - it's about the games. As both Shinmaru and Lord Ramos indirectly pointed out, the games are what make you pick a console. If we were to go solely by console, with no games, no company making games, the XBox would win because of its specs. That being said, I'm an action gamer, meaning that PS2 and XBox are my current "best" consoles because of Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden. Let's not forget about the myriad of fighting games for the PS2. It just goes without saying that it's what games the console provides, and not the power.

Call me dense, but I'm not seeing the problem here. Isn't Ragnarok Online a perfectly legitimate game that you are allowed to distribute? If that's the case, what's wrong with telling the truth? Slightly off-topic, why would you burn a 650 MB CD with only 50 MB of stuff? That's sounds like a waste. I know I'm not helping, but I'm not clear on the situation. ^_^;

Request Will Someone please Make a Robin and Amon banner?
AzureWolf replied to Shadow Wolf's topic in Creative Works
Haha, I'm glad you like it. I'm honored enough that you actually said something. ^_^ You don't need such a big thanks in your sig, though: using the banner is credit enough. Save that space for other tidbits, ok? ;) -
Request Will Someone please Make a Robin and Amon banner?
AzureWolf replied to Shadow Wolf's topic in Creative Works
Alright, it's finally done. I still couldn't find the right pictures to fit the quote, but these were close enough. Additionally, I relied on Photoshop filters and presets, so I hope that wasn't a problem. ^_^; Still, I think it came out nicely. Changes/fixes, just ask. EDIT: shifted the text over. -
Anime shorts, huh? I thought Sasuke's shorts were pretty cool... Yes, comedy is not my forte. =/ Anyway, I'm just curious, what were the contenders for the top spot of your favorite anime short? I can't say I know of any beyond the ones that were mentioned in this thread, so I'm wondering if there's any reference point, or is this thread just a "which is better: She and Her Cat or Animatrix" thread?
-
Well, here's my stab(s) at it. Changes/fixes are probably a must, haha. Just ask for 'em. Haha, I added the glowy eye effect in banner! That's my favorite thing about it. visit my myOtaku!
Hey there, everyone. ^^ I was wondering if some would be kind enough to...
No one is kind enough to do something for you without something in return. Take me, for instance: visit my myOtaku and increase my popularity. ;) I kid, I kid. Anyway, here's my stab at it. If you want any changes/fixes, just ask. If you do plan on using this banner, I would perfer it if you didn't put any "thanks" comment in your sig: using the banner would be thanks enough. Not to start a discussion, but Seijuro is my favorite RK character. He really makes you think: if you had the power to change the world, would you be wise enough to not use it?
