Originally posted by Harry No it's just you. Everyone else finds school uplifting and very enjoyable. We also all love detentions, and personally you're the only one I've ever heard of that puts his books face down.
Haha, well, you can't blame Harry for that overly sarcastic post, since it was his 666th post. School is supposed to suck, plain and simple. Things may not seem challenging to you because you are probably setting yourself up for a big fall later on. If you are just following procedure (in any class), eventually it will catch up to you and you will be screwed in the future. Try to pay more attention and fully grasp what is behind the methods and theories.
Other than graphic-wise, did Soul Calibur I really compare to II at all?
Let's put it this way: many (MANY) people consider SCII to be only a patch to Soul Caliber. Even graphically, there is very little separating the two games - unless you are talking about the arcade versions.
Now you people know my name!
No, we don't. Besides your - oh..., I see... There it is. Makes sense now. Yes, yes we do know your name. Looks like a rough sketch, but you definately have skill, looking at the headband - I mean, forehead protector. Looks like a freehand drawing, but the Hidden Leaf Village symbol is done flawlessly. Very nice. However, as I said before, this picture appears to be a rough sketch, and therefore has very little relation to Kakashi. Besides the eye, there aren't any of Kakashi's more detailed and distinctive features. Overall, it's a great accomplishment, since the lines are so well-done (it is freehand, right?).

I think comic sans is the standard comic font. You might want to try that and see how it looks. You should have it (I think everyone has it), so you won't have to bother searching around. Besides that, I really love the idea. Haha, that's so clever: using a manga to actually advertise a manga. People might think you are "old school," though. I mean, if you look at all the "modern" advertisements, you never have any clue what the hell they are selling. They leave little hints here and there, but ultimately, the product is the only thing that's not shown in the advertisement. Glad someone still sticks with what works. Very neat idea, and it blends in so well with the pictures that you might assume that's what they were talking about - if you didn't know better. :p

Haha, I swear, the only thing that made me continue playing the game was the Steve (or Stevie) slingshot. That was a brilliant gameplay element that other games should have copied. Anyway... The moon sea is no fun, IMO. It's ugly looking, and it's just weird. My best recommendation is not to use the new dude too often, as this place just isn't the right area. If you want to power him up, you should go back to previous stages. Besides that, it's all about being well-equipped. If you stock yourself with every essential thing (including auto-repair), you will be ok. Oh, and be "super-ready" if you are going to go to the places you need the diving board for. Umm... Can't help you with the serpent sword dilemma, since I can't remember anything about it - or I never got it.
Originally posted by some1 hey the episode that "Rein Sakado" wrote was of episode 26 however that IS NOT THE LAST EPISODE!!!!!!!!!! There is episode 27 (ive seen it in *** w/eng. subtitles) it is pretty cool there are more episodes too, but I don't know how many.
Wow, is it just me, or is the post quality in the .hack forum going downhill? In any case, the series .hack//SIGN has 26 and only 26 episodes. If those extra episodes (27-29) were part of series, they would be obtainable under the same license. However, each episode is under its own unique license, which means that these episodes are categorized by style. Those episodes are only under SIGN because it is in the same fashion as SIGN, just like LIMINALITY and DUSK have a consistent art style.

Well, I hate rating, but I'll tell you want I would want to see and what I would not miss: Most Popular Anime Categories (by # of pics) Recently Updated Artists These are a great idea, IMO. First off, you get to see which animes are the most popular, and it implies that you are bound to find some good quality fanart for that particular anime. Next, you get to know which artists are active instead of repeatedly going to their place to see if they have new art or not. That's something that should be done for myOtaku too, might I add. Yeah, some people put the latest update in their sig, but not everyone. Highest-Rated Artists Most Prolific Artists Recently Updated Anime Categories Call me a preacher, but I see some great artists that have just one bad picture, and that of course lowers their overall score. Then you have those people who have one picture and it is rated 100% good. If you do put "Highest-Rated Artists" in, there should definately be a 10 picture minimum. Ummm... I don't even know what most prolific artist means, so I don't think it'll do me any good. :D Meh, it would be nice to see if some inactive anime finally got some fanart, but I don't think it's as necessary as the other two.

My only beef with the banner is the middle picture. I'm guessing the things that the other people were complaining about was addressed in your edits, huh? In any case, I think the background and Aura blend in fine (everything goes with white). However, that middle Aura has issues: she's like anorexic or something, and she's got jaggies. If you can do nothing else, at least blur her, as it will be more friendly to the eyes. Besides that, very awesome job. Where's the border? ;)
Originally posted by Lord Prozen thats a pretty cool banner, thanks!:) im glad that you arnt some stupid newbie banner maker who will take like 2 pictures and the'll be cut out badly and put them on a lame backround. I really like the font you used, where did you get it?
Darn, someone's figured me out. :shifty: Must elimate this leak... :silences Lord Prozen: Really like the Maha banner. However, the quote sucks, IMO. Besides that, the background and style really fit with what Maha represents. Good job.

Haha, I think people should post the answer if no one can figure out the question after a day (or two) - using the EDIT button. Anyway, Gai is Rock Lee's sensei. Q: In Record of Lodoss War (the original one), who is a Beserker? (use spoiler tags for the answer)

Awesome. Thanks Sephiroth. I'm going to try and go to the Oct. 12 tournament in Dunellen, NJ. I really want to see how good my skills really are. And I especially want to know if the theory of "A limited challenge produces limited skill" is true. Haha, if I do make it, I'll be sure to tell everyone the results - good or bad. Sephiroth, one more question: do you need to be in the guild that made the tournament to enter the tournament, or can you just go and sign up on the day of the tourney? I hope it's the latter... :) In any case, as we hinted in this thread before, has anyone noticed the overuse of Nightmare?
Originally posted by Arch From watching .hack//liminality: In the case of whatever the hell her name is, (The third one)
Emma had nothing to do with fragment, or the world, besides writing the ephitath of twilight. Herald Heourwik(or however you spell it) Based fragment on it, because he was in love with Emma. She was apparently killed by CC corp. for whatever reason.

First off, that's not a spoiler, since you are told that "spoiler" WAY before LIMINALITY #3 (I haven't seen the third one and I know). Second, your spoiler is contradictory. How could she "have nothing to do with fragment, or the world..." when they are based on her writings? Being the blueprint/foundation for the games can't be just brushed off so simply. Black Phoenix, as I said before, it is my opinion that Aperiron
was the character Lios used before "The World." You know, maybe he used to play the game before becoming a jerk
.

Just a product of me slacking off after my "best" week of school (tests in all my classes). I think I earned it. :D Anyway, I've learned the versatility and beauty of VirtualDub thanks to my old roommate. After I extracted the proper frames (via VirtualDub) from Naruto's second opening, I worked and brushed up on the GIF version using Adobe Image Ready and GIF Construction Set simultaneously. I also made it so that the animation looks seemless, instead of a sudden break after Hinata rotates once. This animation is the first one I did all by myself (well, except for the art :D), so all input about what should be worked on and what should remain in future productions is appreciated. As you can tell, it's a little speedy, but I couldn't fix that without making the file size too big.
Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud I think it is funny how people are attempting to put a Robin Hood-esque (god, I love that suffix) twist to stealing anime by saying that it helps the industry in the long run. Let?s face the stone cold truth, downloading a fan sub is theft, it is a crime, and it should be. Fan subbers take licensed material, add subtitles, and then distribute that material without the consent of the artists that created it or the corporations that license it. The main argument for fan subbing seems to be that people that download fan subs tend to use it to determine what anime they will buy. While I understand the point, I fail to see how it justifies theft. I could make the same argument about shoplifters that steal clothes. They wear clothes, and they do occasionally buy clothes, but only if they enjoy them after they stole them. Personally, I don?t care whether or not you download fan subs; just don?t convince yourself that you are doing any thing other than stealing?
:twitch: I'm not trying to say that fansub and downloading fansubs in legitimate. As I have said twice before, I know it is technically illegal - is theft, or whatever form of crime you want to label it as, but that's not the point (refer to rhetorical question). The premise is being able to experience something now that you would normally not enjoy until many years later. Your analogy is flawed in the sense that it does not consider this time gap. It would work better if you said someone "stole"/wore clothes that they would not fit into many years from now, and seeing if they would enjoy it. Hey, I might be perfectly wrong. No one truly knows whether fansubbing hurts or helps the local distributors. However, reading posts on message boards where people talk about fansubbing, the majority seems to be split into two groups: people who watch fansubs and then buy the series when it is released in their area; and people who refuse to buy an anime, regardless if they can see it via fansub or don't see it at all. The group that's turned off from purchasing anime because of fansubs appears to be small. Then again, this conclusion is just from a handful of message boards, and online message boards at that, so you never know if one is lying or not. People might say one thing and just mean another, but now you know where my opinion stems from. EDIT: Oh, and sorry about that, James. I'm not a computer buff, so when I know how something works, I just have an urge to say it. In this case, I was answering the unasked question of "why BitTorrent?" Heh, sorry.

If money's the problem, find a way you can compromise to either: A. pay the $60 difference yourself or if you don't have 60 bucks, B. find a way you can "work-off" those 60 dollars (i.e., give the next few weeks' salary/allowance to her to pay back the $60)

I can't believe what I'm reading! You all have to be lying! SAT I is no longer required?! Haha, that's the reason I didn't get into my first college of choice! (JHU in MD; 1280 - blame the verbal section... -_-) Back in my day (I feel so old now), the SAT I was a requirement, and so was the SAT II: Writing, which, come to think of it, I didn't do so well on either (580, I think)... They changed the PSAT to mean Pre-Scholar Aptitude Test or something, probably because it is (IMO) harder than the actually SATs.
Originally posted by Ani_Freak Hey man, I'm sorry but IF you don't notice something does not mean that someone is slow. I don't take what you said but you should take this things in consideration before replying to someone.
Yeah, but I figured my edit would take care of that remark. I didn't read the previous posts and just posted after I read someone asking who Aperiron was. AFTER posted, I read the other posts and realized that you guys did notice some details, but I didn't want to bother writing my entire post all over again. Instead, I just appended my post with what I thought would clarify things. Again, I didn't mean you guys were slow - I kid like that. And yes, I'm lazy - very lazy - VERY lazy. So lazy that I can't even finish this In any case, I'm firm in my guess that Aperiron is
Lios
. I believe that he
became "The System Administrator Lios" because of his actions/contributions/efforts as Aperiron
. In other words, Aperiron was
Lios' character in "Fragment,"
and, for whatever reason, Emma (the author of the epitaph) saw/chose him as a major player in the fate of "The World." Again, sorry for anyone who took offense to my previous post: it was unintentional. :o

Aperiron is the guy who gives you the book Mistral wanted. I think most of you can figure out the rest, but for those of you who are slow (or just haven't played far enough in the game series),
Aperiron is another name for the System Administrator, aka Lios
. That's why I always tell people to keep an eye on names and identities while playing. Just because you "brush" alongside someone doesn't mean that it was an insignificant/chance meeting - at least not in .hack. EDIT: Ok, so I posted before reading through all the posts - sue me. Well, at least you guys noticed him, but how could you not figure it out after MUTATION? Haha, you guys are weird. Light: control, order - what can be seen. Dark: no control, disorder - what is done behind the scenes and is invisible to those who do not have twilight eyes.
No matter how much people want to over look the facts it's still breaking the law. I know a lot about fansubbing and I once was a subber, but I learned how it affects the companies.
I'm not overlooking any facts (you even quoted me saying, "Yes, they are technically breaking the law..."). What I'm saying is that if the companies that bring over anime don't seem to mind, is it really wrong? Illegal and wrong are two different things. Do you think something is right just because it is the law?

I absolutely abhor this series - rather, I hate the fact that I've never seen the last episode because of how late the series came on. I remember having two chances to do so, and both times, something happened. The first time, I just couldn't stay up that late, and the second time, the VCR recording didn't work (or was the tape full?). In any case, I just wish I could have seen the answers to all the weirdness. :o

Anime the new .hack manga from tokyopop
AzureWolf replied to edward-tivrushy's topic in Otaku Central
I'm patiently waiting until I can snag the manga with Amazon's Free Super Shipping deal, since they seem to prevent me from transferring the book to any of my pre-orders. I would just cancel the pre-orders and make a new order, but I got so many discounts, and they were limited time discounts, so I'd rather just sit and wait. Besides, school's giving me barely any time to do leisure reading... As you may have concluded, I haven't read the primary manga yet. However, I was able to snag the Rare Hunter Sidestory (guess who that one is about ;)). The art style is really nice. I really like this style, and I wish more anime/manga that I like would use it - well, anime/manga in which the art style would fit. Haha, some anime series just wouldn't work with it! Anyway, what's always interested me about the .hack universe is how they try to put meaning and depth to our internet generation, building on what some consider "trivial" concepts, such as, "It's ok to do this because it's the internet and no one gets hurt, right?" The way they answer that question also seeps into reality themes and ideas. Am I making any sense? O_o -
didn't they suggest their'd be a sequal at the end when they got back on the ship? I have it on dvd somewhere...but besides that I allways figured they scrapped the idea of a second one :-/
Your guess is right: Outlaw Star 2 has been suspended indefinately, and I think it was completely canned. The premise was Outlaw Star: The Adventures of Jim Hawking - oh, and Melfina Goes to High School. I don't think they even planned for Gene Starwind to make an appearance, and that, IMO, would guarantee the epilogue's failure.

Of course there are multiple artists! That goes for every anime (EVERY Anime). Did you actually think there was a single guy doing every single frame of animation?! Haha, that would be golden. There would be his boss, behind him, shouting, "Oh, c'mon, pick up the pace, man! These episodes have to all be drawn in two weeks! Mush, I say, mush!" It's cool that you came to that conclusion without any prior knowledge besides noticing a difference in art, but I thought that was a universal fact. Mangas, most of the time, are a different story, and have one artist behind them.
Originally posted by craig8429 no no no! your looking at the picture wrong here. Fansubbers are breaking the law, just because it's not liscensed here doesn't mean it's not in japan. Fansubbing isn't as helpful as you think. Fansubs are on the first page of goggle yes, but so is kazaa and other bootlegging programs.
Yes, they are technically breaking the law, but I'm saying it's not a bad thing. First, the people who own the material don't seem to care all that much because, as I have mentioned before, it helps their business by telling them what's worth porting over and what is just not applicable to a culturally different society. I'm pretty sure I know how helpful fansubbing is (proud fan of fansubbing since I first found out about them :D), so I can vouch for them that they bring good things.
when people download fansubs the majority doesn't go out and buy it when it is dubbed. so the companies lose money.
You are missing the point: the majority of those people who will d/l an anime and not buy it were never going to buy the anime in the first place. In other words, whether or not they get the anime from the internet, those "leechers" would never even buy the product. Might I add, I admit that I don't buy every anime I watch (hey, Japan doesn't, so why should I? j/k). Japanese people have the advantage with most anime in the sense that most anime series are aired on Japanese Television before being available on DVD or VHS. We don't have the same ability, and previewing/experiencing an anime or manga before buying is, IMO, a good thing. By doing so, you can actually determine whether it is worth your money or not.
Originally posted by Dagger IX1 There's a difference between downloading anime for free and actually buying a fansub. The only legitimate reason to buy a fansub is if the anime in question hasn't been released wherever you live (and won't be in the near future). Even this isn't really legal, but companies generally choose to overlook it. ~Dagger~
O_o People actually purchase free fansubs?! Now that's just plain wrong - not the person who purchased it, but the person who is selling it. You are making $$$ with someone else's intellectual property (I think that's what it is called), and I'm one of many people who would hate to buy the same thing twice (one fansub and one official version). Fansubs should be free. Otherwise, someone is ripping you off (and it is usually not the fansub group/team). [strike]EDIT: Oh, and btw,
I believe their is anime on bittorent
Yeah, most anime online is distributed via BitTorrent. Yeah, there are means through IRC and Kazaa, but the former is for elite computer junkies, and the latter is the "second helping" group (Kazaa is the last place an anime will be available). If you want the anime the first time it is available, you'll want to use BitTorrent. The reason BitTorrent is the program of choice is because there is an extremely small amount of load put on the primary server, as you are distributing pieces to other people while you are d/ling from those same people.[/strike]
