Going to announce? I'm pretty sure that CC2 is a small development company that can only handle one game's development at a time. They recently announced the production of the new PS2 Naruto action/fighting game, Narutimet Hero (Narutimet = Naruto + Ultimate  ), so I doubt there's going to be another game announcement. Maybe you were thinking of that announcement?
First im going to say its sorta like Cowboy Bebop,
...I find that comment insulting. :twitch: Cowboy Bebop doesn't hold a candle to Noir! Haha, but that's just me. :D Anyway...
No, there are no rewards for what they do, the two main characters (Kirika Yuumura and Mireille Bouquet) just assassinate others mainly to find out about their pasts.
Actually, they do. They take jobs that they think will lead them closer to the answers they are looking for. Their targets are worth money, or else they couldn't make a living. In the first few episodes, they mention whatever the French currency is when they are targetting one guy. I love this series, as my sig implies. :D I dare say I might like it better than .hack!!! Yeah, it's really that amazing! Right now, since I haven't finished watching it, it's on equal footing with .hack and Naruto. :) Also, IMO, Cowboy Beebop has nothing on Noir! :p As you've mentioned, they never do their job the same way (
don't forget the forks, and the ID card
). Haha, you are always in wonder whenever a fight scene starts, because it's guaranteed to floor you. The story is just as spectacular, if not better. The questions, and the answers to those questions, are unbelievable (in a good way). To answer spoiler one, without actually spoiling the series for you, watch the first episode again, preferrably after watching episode 17 (
or whichever is the one in which Mirielle visits her hometown
). I mean, I didn't need to watch episode 1 again since I made the connection after watching episode 17, but I don't want to ruin a single thing: this series knows when to give you answers, and when to hold them back. For spoiler two, just hold out for a few episodes. However, if you can't...
Altena is a part of Soldats, but she's old-fashioned, and stays to the old ways. With the way Soldats is now, the old ways will screw most of the major powers of the originization. They can't directly get rid of Altena, since she follows the way of Soldat's original formation, so opposing her means you oppose Soldats, even if you are within Soldats.
I guess that doesn't make any sense the way I said it, but, again, hold out for a few episodes. Don't worry, it's worth the wait. ;)
* I say thought becaues the only time i got to see it is when it was on FoxKids a long time ago i whish i was able to find the DVDs.
Yeah, I saw the series before it aired on TV, but I started watching it on FOX as well because I heard that they were showing the DVD version which had extra scenes. For some reason, though, Escaflowne on TV was going painfully slow (did they cut each episode into two?), and - well, it's cancellation speaks for itself.
Im not sure how to clissify it though... I would say action but theres a lot of romance but to much action to be romance and I would say shoujo but its to bloody!
Didn't you read the little pamphlet that comes with the Escaflowne movie? The guy says that he originally expected it to be an action anime with romance, but 80% of Escaflowne's audience were girls! Haha, so the fans basically saw more romance in it. That's where the movie steps in. The creator apparently made the movie to compensate for the series' lack of male fans. I think he did a poor job of it: it's just a blood-fest. C'mon, that was a pretty bad movie... I mean, I'm all for action, but did EVERYTHING have to invoke blood? IMO, the movie was much worse than the series, both in art and story. The characters' new attitudes and positions were terrible. I hated the series as well. It's like Stardust Memory: it's better without the ending. I remember that I was so fond of Escaflowne, when there were a few episodes left that I couldn't get my hands on.
At that point, the last thing I saw was Van fighting those two twins and being paranoid
. I was excited about what was going to happen next. There were so many mysteries and interesting pieces of info they tossed at you. Unfortunately, when I finally got the rest of the series, it was like I was watching a whole other anime. They seemed to have pulled a lot of BS at the end, and I hated it. All the mystery, the luster of the series, and my admiration of the show was swooped away in just 4-5 episodes. Dilandu, you were the most psychoatic character I've ever seen in an anime, and then... O_o EDIT: Thought I'd just add something. One of the biggest flops an anime can do is setup a great, suspenseful mystery whose answers' elegance are disproportionate to the questions' flair. Escaflowne does just that, taking you up a ladder of intrigue and ambiguity, only to lead you to a diving board of disappointment and mismatch. This failure is one of my biggest concerns with Project .hack. There's no end to the level of mystery, surprise, and suspense in this series. It has to be the most compelling Project I've ever seen, but if the answers don't stack up to the questions, it will all be for naught.

So, for those of you who went, how was the Yugioh Worldwide Tournament? I heard it was exactly how I warned: the Yugioh Malltour, except with a Worldwide tournament that you can only watch in, not play in. Additionally, I heard that the US side in the World tournament was really sad. One of my friends said he played two of them and they were easy pickin's. I guess he was right when he said that the people on the top of Duelist Kingdom Tournament didn't have any competition... I honestly thought those guys earned their position. :( Speaking of DK Tournaments and World tournaments, anyone hear about them using a new system to choose who gets into the World Tourneys? Here it is: http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/worldchamp2003/news_article.asp?nid=109 Does anyone know the details about this new setup, or any ideas/comments about changing the format? I'm all for it, since the competition in my store is high, and so no one ever stands out in the DK tournament.

Eh, Project .hack isn't popular enough for a successful card game based on it. If there's nice artwork on the cards, and if it's unique to the card game, then there might be a reason to get it. And even though that tournament setup with the special card in the mail sounds exciting, I'm already deep into Yugioh (the only TCG I've ever played), and $$$ seems to be a TCGs favorite meal. I doubt I'm willing to shell so much around.
Yeah she's kinda scary lookin.
What's scary is how accurate that suit is, down to the gem on the head piece... Now THAT'S skill!
I think you might want to post in the Art and Design section.
Unfortunately, I don't think that's allowed, since creating suits and what-have-you is a craft. Maybe I'm just being nit-picky with semantics, but it technically isn't art. I'm probably wrong. Haha, I usually am! :D EDIT: Oh yeah! I think they have some concept art in the .hack//SIGN DVDs! I'll check that out and get back to you.

Just got this puppy two days ago, and I recommend this game as much as I would recommend DMC1. Gohan is right that the game starts off slow, but that's because you have to learn everything. The learning curve is just like DMC: you gotta get the hang of the controls, learn the combos, and get used to using the legions (just like you had to get used to the devil trigger). Everything about this game screams, "awesome," and then some! Simply, this game is DMC with a sword (don't get smart with me: you know what I mean). I tempted to say that I like this game more than DMC, but, at the first few stages, I didn't have that temptation. Now, getting into the middle, it's truly a treat, especially when you get multiple Legions. They are a great addition to this action game, and it's incorporation can't be just labeled as an "add-on." Instead, it's a very integral part to the fighting: both your skills and flow of fight depend on which Legion you choose, and how you use each type. The stages are surprisingly long, but I fight by killing every monster until they stop production, so it might be significantly shorter if you just go straight for the target. And don't worry about the difficulty: it's just as hard as DMC was on normal (when you played it the first time). I can't wait for the harder difficulties (if there are any)! It was a little annoying that you could do all this fighting and get all this experience, only to lose it, but everybody falls while learning to ride a bicycle. EDIT: I guess I should also give a warning that the game is said to be repetitive and boring. While I agree with the repetitve part, I enjoy mindless fighting. Boring? Hardly, IMO. I guess you should rent it and see what you think for yourself. I think it's fun, but I guess that's not how the majority feels. Oh well... =/

You know, a little advance notice would have helped. -_- I was going to ask when this convention was so I could go, but then I saw you sig... There are not many conventions around this area, so one in Maryland is wonderful news for me. I have never been to a convention simply because of distance (I'm not going to travel a half a day or two just for a convention), and Maryland is pretty convenient for me. Haha, I know how to get to Maryland since my dream Med School is there. Well, would have been nice to meet you, and I think the lack of posting is due to when you created this thread. I wasn't even online yesterday because I devoted my online time to Chaos Legion.

Very interesting. I decided to do a search on this subject since there is an even footing on both sides. Turns out that this "10% Theory" is a big rumor that the media and famous icons have spread throughout society.
From http://www.infoplease.com/askeds/4-20-01askeds.html Regardless of its origin, experts in the field of neurology seem quite certain that although certain pathways in the brain may be working at different activity levels, all parts of the brain are always being used?even during sleep.
Wow, I'm not even going to bother to try and save face since I seemed to have been flat-out wrong. I don't understand it, but that's not important for this discussion. EDIT: Booya! More searches via google!
From http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/neuro/neuro01/web1/Briley.html At any given point in time, about 5% of the neurons are active, but over time and change of ones behavior, PET scans and fRMIs show that the vast majority of the brain is active (2).
So, that confirms your MRI thing, Black Phoenix. Plus, I've saved face! :p

They really don't seem to care about that place in .hack//SIGN. There was only one part (that I can remember) where they actually analyze/notice the place. Remember when Mimiru was saying something about the sanctuary being different from other places in "The World?" She said it was isolated and some other things which I don't remember. Additionally, isn't the sanctuary area (episode 13-14 spoiler)
the way B.T., Crim, and Sora got into Bitter Fantasy Mirrorworld
? Without spoiling anything, they establish the sanctuary more in the .hack games. The area seems to serve more importance in them.

While your post hasn't changed me, it has put some of my thoughts into words - actually, it was just the High School and grades thing. :) Haha, I went through the same thing. Yes, college does seem to make you realize how trivial High School was. Poison Tongue is a perfect example of one of the people who, although they are wise and great speakers, have not changed me. I respect him, as well as other people (like most of the people who post on the .hack forum), but I can't say they have changed me as a person. You can only do so much with words, and I agree with Poison Tongue that changing a person is not one of these things.

Thanks Solo. I couldn't really tell there was a difference/change when the people interacted with the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, and the dinosaurs were very well-done. I know the dinos were mostly CG, but, like I said, there seemed to be no difference. I don't see why animatronics would be bad for duel monsters if they can recreate models, such as dinosaurs, so well.
And AzureWolf's post made me realize something. Electrocardiograph is spelled with a "C" in cardio, but the accronym is EKG. Go figure on that.
Yeah, stupid Greeks with their language! *shakes fist* I'm more of a Latin person, so I use "C." I think both are valid.
^_________________________________________^
I've never seen K.K.C. with a bigger grin. That has to be a big Crim scene covered in black. Haha, I'm tempted to read all these ink spots in the .hack forum when the series finally completes! Anyway, break it up! Tidal, although you've got a spoiler to back-up your "Tsukasa is lvl 99" theory, Tsukasa's level isn't relevant at all to this discussion. Tsukasa could be 99, but we've seen that he's still incapable of fighting. The nervousness and clumsiness of Tsukasa throughout the series shows that he is not battle-worthy. He could be lvl 99 statistically, but he doesn't have the "spirit" of combat that Crim does. Remember those silly and funny scenes when Tsukasa is running to Bear and Mimiru? He's always falling! In episode 5, he does the same thing
when Crim sends a single attack at him
. Haha, silly Tsukasa!
Originally posted by Digital Monster If they do it at all, I'd say stick with anime/CGI. They'll need it for the monsters anyway. I'd hate them try to do animatronics with some of them.
Hmm? What is animatronics? I've heard it, but I never knew what it was. It sounds as if it's something to make pseudo-animation/cartoon with real people.
Problem with online friends is the fact that you can never really be sure if you are talking to a person that your "friend" makes themselves out to be. I guess that can be resolved here in the forums since theres a pictures forum and everything, but I still tend to be a bit guarded against people I meet online. I try to stay casual with them before I can figure out if they are actually what they say they are. But most people I met so far seem to be nice.
That sounds a lot like me. I never get "personal" online unless I'm talking to someone I know in real life. I don't change my personality, but if someone asks for a real name or a phone number, I don't comply unless it's someone I know. In other words, I try to be myself as much as possible, without actually being myself. :D I wonder how other members treat online and offline friends. Is your behavior different online than offline?
My other friends are good ones. I've known them since gradeschool. They are loyal, they help me support my dreams while I help them with theirs, they have opinions different from mine own about almost everything, they enjoy going to the mall and video games and hanging out and driving to no where and back. They are quiet and loud, they argue with me, they laugh with me, they keep me insane. ^_^
Yeah, I used to have a childhood friend. Then he moved, which was too far for him or me to walk, and we would have to get parental transportation. Unfortunately, that was limited, so we met very rarely. He moved again, and I lost track of him until HS, where the first words I heard from him (talking to someone else) was, "I was so wasted in the bathroom." O_o We obviously went separate ways...
That whole 10% theory has been disproven. If we really did use just 10% of our brain, we wouldn't be able to have rational thinking, vision, and many emotions such as falling in love. We wouldn't have the sensory of touch either, and we wouldn't remember amything past about a month. We wouldn't have an accurate sense of time, or being. I don't know who was the first scientist that started the whole 10% thing. But when scientists decided to search out this other supposedly 90% of our brain that we don't use, they found out that we ARE using it. I even remember someone saying that we use only 2% of our brain.
Crimson Spider, at first I thought you were just flat-out wrong, and that trying to argue with you would basically start a flame war. However, after reading your latest post, I believe you are mixing statistics and information. Your comments contradict one another, and are rather insulting. You are basically saying that man, anatomically, is the most inefficient being ever to grace the world. Realize that a bird - say, a parakeet - has an extremely small brain (relative to ours). However, they are capable of [strike]vision, feeling, memory[/strike] they are capable of the five senses and then some. With a brain that small, birds are able to think and do most of the functions we can, yet we use a full 100% of this massive mind to do so? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Birds don't even use 100% of their brain at any given instance. Sounds like you are saying we are the least evolved of all species... Anyway, when I was thinking about your second contradiction, I realized that you didn't read my post thoroughly (although you were quick to quote it). I'll emphasize these words: "at any given time." If we functioned as you have said with your percentages, not only would we be fried and un-evolved, but we'd also be "for the moment." If we used 100% of our brain at every instance of time, we wouldn't have any place for memories or for learning. You are basically saying that at every single moment of time (which is much less than a second, since our thoughts are streaming), our brain is doing everything it is capable of, even things that are impossible to do at the same time (i.e., walking and running). You are also saying that all our memories are constantly going through our heads, and that these memories are recurring at every instance. So, you are thinking of your first memory, doing the dishes, being sad, being happy; all while you are taking an exam... Haha, that would be interesting! While being capable of such a level of multi-tasking would be cool, it's just not true. Anyway, what we have here is simply a conflict of time. You obviously didn't read carefully enough to realize that I was referring to one instance of time. However, since we are referring to an elongated period, we do access 80-90% of our brain within a day or two. "Why those parts of the brain become active," and "what activities they serve" are still not fully logged/known, but some are obviously for the different things we do/think/learn/feel at different times. I don't know where you got your statistics and what-have-you, but they are bogus (and the comments about memory). However, I've never heard a statistic of the brain that was 10%, so we at least agree on that. :)
Originally posted by noodleboy hm... so do u want there to be a button that u press, such as the X on the PS2, that does everything, or something that would cause combos and such? and it sounds like you want a side scroller (is that what they call those games) with upped graphics
Hmm... I thought my examples of DMC and Zelda were good enough, but I guess I should clarify. What I was emphasizing was not "all the actions" of a character, but movement. The movement - what and how your character gets around, both in battle and in transit - is crucial. Remember those old RPGs where a hole in the floor of a room would prevent you from getting a treasure chest? Or how about when people in RPGs are perfectly arranged to keep items or places away from you, without any logical reason? However, I don't see how you could associate "full control" to a button that does everything for you... O_o

Well, since this thread is for all .hack gaming stuff, I thought I'd post something I found a day or two ago. In my random dungeon surfing (you call it "crawling," I call it "fun" :p), I found a rare rod that seems to surpass the Great Elite, at least level-wise (haven't really looked at the stats yet). Here's the place: Lamda, Shattering Agonizing Wavemaster. It takes a while, but Data Drain those big red guys and they will eventually cough up the goods. I think it's called the Rod of Piercing, or something to that effect. I was surprised to find a higher level rod than even the Great Elite. Anyone else find this item before? If so, is it just an obvious item that I should have gotten, but just missed? I'm betting it's in all the Fire-type Wavemaster stages, but this place is the first one I've been to that's level 50.
Originally posted by Crazy Ace damn , i would just say i didnt know or say nothing at all but u guys kinda go all out. I thought they just gave them names that sounded good and i never really thought about their name meanings. I think they shold have gave them names that refer to the character's characteristics
That's usually the case, Crazy Ace. It's not uncommon for both creators and fans to find relations to a character and his/her name. Recent example (and sadly, the only example I can think of right now) would be Naruto: "naruto" is apparently a swirly fish cake that's put in ramen, and Naruto loves ramen. Most of the time, the creators give the name a purpose, other than just identity. It's kind of disappointing to find nothing like that in .hack, especially with the amount of depth this series has. Then again, these are a character's name for their character in "The World," so it makes sense that their behavior isn't fully aligned with their name. Simply, it's a person who is hiding behind the guise of another, so the names mismatching would be a logical conclusion.
Originally posted by FartMaster745 I've been here only for a month, i have to say James changed me the most(which is very little). Well when I read James posts, i hear this deep voice that seems like a superior being:), Only because he is the site director. Anywho his words are inspiring....
You know, it's the exact opposite for me. I always think of this "plumber" accent. Maybe it was because of that Mario avatar he had on when I first joined... I don't mean the squeaky and lame voice of recent Mario lore, but more like the one on that show with the real actors. Uh... don't ban me...
As for editing, I doubt they would need to edit it. There is no real foul words, no blood, no killing (so to speak),and no nudity. The only change I know of is that the DVD's have a different ending for it. Personally, I think the TV ending is better.
Yeah, I've watched the DVDs and have found no difference/change/alteration. Granted, I've only seen up to episode 14 (that's all that has been released, DVD-wise), but if the creators haven't gotten themselves an R rating yet, I don't see why they would do so later in the series. I would even dare say this entire anime is G. Finally, something that doesn't rely on nudity to attract an audience!*cough*Evangelion*cough*Matrix*cough* Sigh, it's hard to follow the morals and ethics of old with the way things are... Haha, I'm old school, but I'm only 19! Anyway... Yeah, they changed the ending because there's a silhouette of a naked Subaru, or at least a naked body with a disproportionate Subaru head. O_o Well, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a naked woman (clothes are on the floor). Hmm... you know, it's funny that I didn't realize that Noir has the same thing in its ending! Haha, they did the same thing - except with pink instead of blue. I don't really like the TV version of the ending. I mean, it's just not in the "anime way" to use clips of the show to make an op./ed., you know? Additionally, I love the artistic and symbolic effect the DVD ending gives. I never gave it much thought before because it was just an ending, but after the latest episodes, you can see what the masks and the hands are all about (although I don't see the reason for Subaru to be naked, maybe I'm too old-fashioned). It always bothered me that Subaru's in the ending, while none of the other characters were. That was before episode 19, when I still hated her. :D Now I see the relation, and I won't bore you with what I've said over and over before. ;)

PoisonTongue, you play video games?! Haha, you didn't seem like the kind that would. I guess by perfect game, you mean what makes a game classic to you? Well, right off the bat, I want full control of my character. That means no RPG nonsense, and no automatic things (except in cut scenes :D). I want to be able to use my character to MY limits. I guess that lowers the categories to fighting games and action/adventure games like Zelda and DMC. After that, I want the game to be challenging. There's not much competition here (meaning no one plays), so I would love the game to be just as challenging as the good ol' 8-bit games of the past. To be honest, I really think the amount of control you have over your character is one of the most important things in video gaming. I hated how, in Silent Hill 2 (and SH1), you were very limited: it was like you yourself were not human. That also goes for RE games. That's what I'm talking about when I say I want full control and nothing less. Those games had horrible movement/control for your character, so it made them look really sad after DMC stepped in.

I think the names are probably one of the most under-developed aspects of .hack. Here, the creators had the chance to actually make their characters analyze themselves, but I guess they didn't jump on that chance. Just look at what you learn about B.T. and her name: the creator's character (I mean B.T.'s user) just looked at herself through her online name! Realize that characters created characters in Project .hack, so I there's another level to look at. Yeah, B.T.'s explanation of her name isn't really that deep, but it made you wonder about the other characters. I mean, there's still time, but with what's currently happening, I doubt there will be time to tell the story behind why the .hack characters gave their characters those names. Haha, was I embarrassed when I mixed-up "Tsukasa" with "Tsubasa!"
I just had a disturbing thought. What if BT is a really kind and sweet person in real life? After all, people behave differently when online (such as on a forum ). I think I need to find a BT doll to tear apart, just so I do not forget how I feel about her. *shudder*
:twitch: Ugh... Bwah... C'mon, man! What was that?! I think I better use the treasury's money to use and make a "We Hate B.T." training program. And to think I respected you... :) Those are some healthy coughs President K.K.C. ---End Smilie Transmission--- Yeah, I think I'm a little erratic today - or am I ecstatic? Actually, I'm erratic because I'm ecstatic... .... Anyway, I'm pretty clueless on this one. Don't you think they would have shown B.T. at least once in episode 10 if she had that kind of relation to Bear? Additionally, I don't think Bear would see Tsukasa first and foremost after "the (real-life) incident" with his son: he should have seen B.T. if she's the other parent. Excuse me for the shallow explanation/analysis, but I think B.T. is easily charmed, and Bear's knowledge and way with words swept B.T. off her feet in "The World." However, upon visiting each other in real life, B.T. realized that the type of relationship she was aiming for wouldn't work (because of age). So, Bear and B.T. continued to be online friends, with Bear being completely unaware of B.T.'s pseudo-attraction to him. I think B.T. tries this trick with Crim, but Crim's had a similar experience: Subaru. B.T., aware of his closeness with Subaru, knows that Crim's the right age, and she's amazed at both his wit and skill. Luckily, Crim's too good for B.T., and drops her on the spot. Haha, good times...
