I've seen it a lot lately, but the second+ are only small, little pictures. It's not really noticeable, but I think if there are two banners, then it's a problem.

Yeah, most of this information is built on theoretical probability and statistics. Most of the theoretical Prob&Stat people work with have just been created and researched, and still under study. Haha, the method is still under study, nevermind what they use the study to study! Anyway, I'm not good with names, but one guy has this entire Prob&Stat theory down, that works really well. Instead of trying to figure out how accurate your results are, you figure out how accurate your results aren't. Yeah, a little weird at first, but here's how it works: Basically, you take a random sample of people (it's large in studies like this, but relative to the population, it's extremely small) and create your data. When you have the data, you calculate it and get your average. Now, create a hypothesis: "The average is this." What you do next is try to disprove your statement by proving another. You can't actually disprove anything, but you can get a relativistic value to how possible your statement is (yeah, there's currently no way to figure out how probable your statement is). You try to see if the data strongly suggests that the average is actually below, above, and/or not equal to the given value. So, you get a relativistic value and compare it to each hypothesis. This technique, if I remember correctly, is called "Null's hypothesis." I'm rusty with this stuff, so "Null's hyp." might just refer to the initial statement. Anyway, if each test to see if the average is more possible another value fails, then you can say with a certain voice, "The data strongly suggests that this is the average." In the end, there's a little prob&stat phrase my teacher used to say, "Only God knows the actual value. We can only guess."

From Tonkz's view, it was just another hacker. As Tonkz watched the hacker enjoying his illegal act, Azure walked up behind the hacker and smacked him on the back of the head with his fist. The hacker turned, holding his head, and the two characters started arguing, creating a humorous scene to any passerby. Unfortunately, Tonkz was too far away to hear what the two were fighting about. "Felix, that was the lamest hack I've ever seen!" Azure scowled. "Hey, pink will make my girlfriend happy! :D" Felix replied. Azure hit him again. "That's not what I'm talking about. That hacked attack you gave me doesn't disable the opponent's hacks, so it's just a suicide move! You know everyone hacks their character, so it's impossible to beat them unless you lock their hacks." Felix looked up with a confused look. "Huh? :blackeye: But that hack does lock the opponent's hacks. That is, if you actually hit them with it." "What?" Azure was puzzled. "Then how did that guy..." Felix patted Azure on the back, "Face it buddy, you just suck when it comes to fighting. If you couldn't tell that you missed the guy, I think you just need to take a break, trying to fight all these 'legendary' players. Say, are you up for a grunty race in Dun Loreiag?" Azure decided to worry about his opponent's strange survival later. A grunty race was just something Azure could never refuse. "Haha, good idea! I've been waiting for a chance to try out this one grunty!" As Felix started leaving, Azure took a brief look around and eyed Tonkz. "Hmm... This character's pretty powerful, isn't she?" Azure noted. "Maybe her skill lies more than just in fighting..." Azure decided to invite her to race with them. Azure waved and shouted, "Hey, care for a grunty race in Dun Loreiag?! No one can beat me! :smirk:"

Haha, you are right James! I just read my own post and realized how bad I said what I wanted to say. :whoops: I meant that if you use this quick reply box at the bottom, you don't automatically subscribe to the thread like you do if you go to the big "post reply" link.

Anime .hack Volumes have interesting titles... (Easter Egg Discussion)
AzureWolf replied to AzureWolf's topic in Otaku Central
Terminus
is the Latin noun for "end." Basically, it's the root of
terminal and terminate
, although I really don't see much of a reason to keep spoiler tags on these... I'm pretty sure the word is in english too. In this case, it means the end, like the end of a long trek. Stuff like that. EDIT: Oh, and thanks a lot for finding this stuff out, K.K.C.! Awesome, my friend will be happy that he was right. -
Freed came in a nice way- my mate Rebecca, who originally came over from Canada for two years coz of her dad's work contract, left to go back last Thursday. A couple of days before she left, she called round just to say bye, and gave me a LOD pack (her bro's into it, so she got an idea on what to get). Afterwards I opened it and Freed was in it.
That was a poetic story that sounds like it could have came out of a story book (or a yugioh episode in this case). Haha, I had something similar, but it was a on a much lower emotional level, and it wasn't a gift. Simply, I gave my sis some money to get me a pack since she was already heading in that direction. Wouldn't you know it, she came back with one pack that Magic Cylinder. I was so happy, until I actually used the card and found out how much it sucked. :whoops: Oh well! It was a rare card. :)

Great! We've got a quick reply box at the bottom of the pages! That's awesome. However, do you think it would be possible to have that subscribe to thread option as well? Seems that if you use this little box, it doesn't subscribe you, so I have to go all the way down a second time and click that subscribe thing myself (and I have it set for 50 posts per page!). Thanks.

I'll try and save this thread! :D Instead of just stating your rarest card, how about we give the backstory on how we came to getting this rare card? My bro had both Mech Chaser and Morphing Jar in his decks (still has the MJ). I heard about an 1850 ATK lvl 4 monster in the TP1 packs and decided that I should get it. A little girl pulled the card out, and I wasn't really up on the whole rarity thing, so I had no idea how much it was worth. I asked her what she would trade it for, and she said, "Blue eyes." I was still fond of my BEWD at the time, but my brother came first. Yeah, so I didn't trade my BEWD, but got another one and traded that one. :D Later, I traded that MC for some staples, so we no longer had that. I still didn't know what it was worth, so I didn't get very much for it. As for the MJ, magic cylinder was the dominant part of the trade, and-well-basically the rest was an arm and a leg. :D As for myself, I run a light deck (which I've aptly titled "Twilight's Luster"), so the rarest card in my deck is probably mirror force. Meh, it wins tourneys, so I can't complain.

That's why I thought it was so weird. If it was as simple as refreshing, I wouldn't have been able to post this question without realizing I was logged off completely. I think I'll just be wary and stick with one window. :noid: Thanks.

A bad day for AzureWolf: Everything seems to go wrong. I usually come back a loser from whatever competition I went to. What's even better is that I'll usually be late, so I know I'm going to lose already. Then there will be some kind of excursion I'll have to go on so I can't just get home and lay in bed. And last, someone will forget to do some time-consuming task, and it will be transferred to me to do. If that just doesn't make my day a total wipe-out (that is, if I'm still just a little bit optimistic), they'll be some kind of computer problem that'll come up. Ah, good times... :haha:

I had this feeling when I got rejected from the college of my choice. I figured, "If I'm not good enough to do what I want now, who's to say I'll ever be good enough?" Yeah, but that didn't last long, since worrying never gets you anywhere. I quickly recovered from that and rememberd that I want to contribute something extraodinary to this world and join the ranks of Einstein and Shrodinger! Watch me! I'm going to become legend!

Arika, clever name for the admin, switching the words in Arika around... ;) AzureWolf arrived at an open field, taking a few steps to look around. Finally, he said, "Oh yeah, being fashionably late is REAL original..." After a few minutes, the promised rival appeared. Clearly a character hack, the black caped fellow drew his sword. "So, you wish to challenge the great Alucard?" "Oh, with a name that original, who wouldn't?" replied Azure, unsheathing his sword and taking a fighting stance, "Haha, let's do this thing!" The vampire-like character quickly dashed toward Azure, and Azure took defensive measures to see what he was up against. He was not so much worried about his opponent's stats: Azure needed to figure out which hacks he would be dealing with in this fight. The swords clashed at each meeting as Alucard moved violently around the battlefield. Azure did not notice any hacks being used, and Alucard was growing impatient. "Playing defensively is a n00b tactic, and very boring. Are you just going to hide behind your sword?" "Haha, just testing the waters, as any good fighter knows to do." Azure became mobile and the clashes became more powerful and violent. Azure attempted to throw off Alucard with magic, using simple tricks to try and get any opening. But Alucard responded quickly, and their magic attacks fizzled each other out. "Do not attempt to use magic with me, I'm no simple vampire hack. ^_^" "Oh, yeah, you are a real original! You think your weak attacks are going to hurt me? I know the limits of the vampire hack!" Azure hoped to taunt his opponent into using magic, since he was sure that sword users could only use weak magics, and no character could use his sword while casting spells. So, he just needed to close in and dodge Alucard's magic. Or so he thought... Giant Ice rained down on Azure, throwing him off and taking a critical amount of HP. "What th- oof!" "Please, I AM an original. THE Original, to be exact. I created the Vampire hack, so of course I made improvements that I didn't share." Azure smiled, "Haha, I've got lots of healing potions stored, so you better kill me fast before I use them!" Azure was ready this time, and he wanted to get a chance to try his "special" attack, but he needed to be closer. Azure saw Alucard starting the spell, and he sped at the vampire player as fast as possible. "Here it comes!" Azure thought, and the rain of ice fell once again. Azure dodged the ice, not slowing down and taking minimal damage. Now, he was right at Alucard, point blank, and Alucard's shocked face was all that Azure needed to be sure that he had the match won. "Five Star Sword!" Azure used his technique, which costed Azure all of his MP and reducing his HP to 1. It was well worth the cost, though, as going through Alucard five times, creating a star shape was an instant death ATK. As Alucard lost his color, Azure turned and said, "Ha! You aren't the only one with a hack! This was a gift from a much smarter hacker than you!" However, what Azure didn't realize was that Alucard's discoloring was only for a brief moment. Azure stared in surprise as Alucard regained his color and composure. "Another hack?!" "I'm sorry, but a vampire only has a few weaknesses, and you certainly did not stab me through the heart, so my Second Life hack took effect. Looks like your friend isn't as good a hacker as you thought. It's game over for you, which means I win your rare grunty." There wasn't much Azure could do to defend or fight back with just 1 HP left, and Alucard quickly dealt with Azure. The Wolf was defeated... Zearu took off the goggles. "Man, that grunty was impossible to find, and then I raised it to perfection! I've won so many races with it, and now I lose it because Felix's hack didn't disable the target's hacks! Oh, he's going to get it when I see him next time!" Zearu started laughing, "I'm getting better though!" He looked at the time and realized he should grab a quick bite. It was Saturday, so playing The World all day was certainly possible. Zearu decided he would log back on after eating. "Ah, today's feels like it's going to be one of those days..."

Yeah, don't worry, I was just messing with ya. Still, it would be cool to see Skeith in anime form. I wonder if he is just shown, or the characters actually fight him...
-
I know this thread is basically good as dead, and probably should have been closed, but I'd like to make one suggestion: We all know that people are perfectly capable of creating themed decks, but I think it would be cool if you focused on what each theme should focus on. For example, a light deck does not necessarily have to be an overwhelming beatdown like a dark deck is. I say you should do an elemental deck analysis for all six elements. Wind, light, and dark seem to be dominant, but earth has easily jumped on the power bandwagon (surpassing that of dark maybe?), and we wait to see the power of fire and water. I don't know, thought it would be a cool idea.

Argh! That hurts my eyes! Geez, you should have put spoiler somewhere... Grr... Well, there goes THAT surprise. Anyway, I can see that easily happening since the animator for the .hack//SIGN series says (in an interview) that the viewers will like how SIGN seamlessly flows into the video game series, and wouldn't you know it, Skeith is like the first thing you see in the video games.

Awesome, glad Crim came up right after Sora, but, coming from K.K.C., what else did you expect? :) 1. What type of character is Crim? Yeah, he's a very stalwart LongArm. Not to say that there's a female version of him, but there's a popular LongArm in the games as well, with a completely different attitude than Crim. 2. What are the 2 names for Crim's weapon? Scythe (sp?) and Glaive, I think. I just called them spears! :D 3. Pros and Cons of Crim Pros: Quick, fast fighter. He's just as clever as Bear, but he's also really cool: his philosophy of keeping the real world and fantasy separate proves it. He is "old school" according to Sora, but he's noble. Simply, a free spirit. Cons: Hasn't killed B.T., and probably won't. He's just too polite to kill her. :( 4. Crim and BT.... They work together alot on finding the Key of the Twilight. And from what weve seen on CN, Bt sometimes uses Crim, but has that "feeling" for him. Even though Crim knows about this he still keeps her as a partner. Why do you think he still keeps her as a partner? Wait, maybe he's waiting for the perfect time to PK her! j/k Haha, that's actually a good question. Crim's too good to think the worst about people, so he probably thinks that Sora was messing with him. Either that, or he's using B.T. as an information source like B.T. uses Bear. 5. What quality of his stands out? Easily his nobility and free spirit. Haha, he never even wore that Crimson Knight uniform: he was always himself. Against conforming because of his individuality and freedom. Extra: Anyway, I've always noticed that there are two main groups in the .hack//SIGN series: Tsukasa, Mimiru, and Bear; and then Crim, B.T., and Subaru (well, Subaru's just kind of there). Crim fills a lot of shoes on his side of the team: He's the smart, the resilient, and the strong.

This is the weirdest thing, and I don't know if something wrong or I just shouldn't worry. Originally, having two windows for OB forums didn't do anything. However, now I am sometimes not logged in at the second window, and I can tell right away since I have Industrial style on. This problem isn't really a big deal, since I rarely have two OB forum windows open at the same time, but I figured this thing might be hinting at another possible problem (it's not against the rules to have two open windows, is it)? Thanks in advance.

Haha, I think he is referring to the ECG (electrocardiograph), the thing that checks your heart muscle activity by measuring electrical potentials on the body surface and generates a record of those electrical currents, thereby efficiently promoting detection and diagnosis of heart abnormalities (in other words, that green thing that went *beep* -pause- *beep* -pause- then beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, indicating that the heart stopped beating). And yes, we all KNOW it was Tsukasa suffering a heart attack because of both the timing of the scene as well as the fact that it couldn't be anyone else (why would they just show some joe going through a heart attack?). Yeah, and I can't believe anyone would think Tsukasa could beat Crim. Didn't we all learn a lesson from Subaru? Just because it seems like someone is great, doesn't mean they are... "Actions speak louder than words..."
From AzureWolf's friend: just something i noticed, .hack//sign volumes: ..volume 1: Log-in ..volume 2: Outcast ..volume 3: Gestalt ..volume 4: Omnipotence if volume 5 starts with a U and volume 6 starts with a T it spells... LOGOUT. Which i think is going to happen, unless its just coincidence. pretty cool i think
I agree, buddy, and that's pretty clever, IMO. That certainly would be cool if it turns out to be right. Alright, so that's not exactly a DVD easter egg, but has anyone found any? Haha, do you think there are any at all? Keep in mind this is only in reference to LIMINALITY and SIGN. No video game stuff! :p
Originally posted by clumsymoonflowr Actually, we talked about that in SOC101 and our prof said that in reality, most twins that are "raised apart" actually aren't. They're usually taken in by a relative, live near each other, and play with each other from a young age. Then one "groundbreaking" study that was supposed to have proved that it was nature, not nurture that molds who you are was fake. The illustrious doctor made everything up, from his sources, to the people who worked with him on the project. +shrug+ -Ness, sick of locking spam
What the? A study? A project? I don't know about that... o_O Simply, two twins from an orphanage were seperated, and (if I remember correctly), they were not aware of their other. They were raised, married, and then, they bumped into each other in a restaurant one day. They talked to each other, and discovered several similarities: their house, preferences, jobs, the name of their dog (although their colors were opposite: one white, one black), etc. It was worth writing about, and that's exactly what happened.

The entire set has been revealed thanks to abctoy4me.com (just check under yugioh, then singles, and then Pharaonic Guardian). Whatever there is, it doesn't look like there's much reason to get this set at all.

The program that checks the file checks it only once, and that is the very first time you put it up. The way to go around it is simply to put a legitimate file at the URL you are targetting. Then, after the first check, you can replace the target file with something illegal (meaning that it will still have the same URL, but the picture will be different). It's too obvious when someone does, so people easily will be caught. EDIT: Oh, I'm not trying to tell people how to do things that are not allowed. Like I was curious, I think they want to know how things are possible that shouldn't be possible.

Man, Ruby and Zeh are really depressing me... :( You guys gotta be kidding. How could you not want to exist? Would you even want to not exist if you never existed in the first place? Could you explain exactly why you don't want to exist, because I just don't understand.
Originally posted by Zeh I'd not be born. Problem fixed.
You are joking, right? That's a pretty depressing answer... :(

Haha, I've never done this RPG thing before, so bear with me. :D Real World Name: Zearu Flow Age: 18 Gender: Male Description: Black hair, brown eyes. Hmm... Driver gloves, but uses a bike for transit. Blue Jeans, will never be without. Bio: Not a hacker, but pretty good with a computer. (Hmm... everyone has really depressing bios... So, to stay with the mood...) Parents killed before he ever knew them. Raised in Child Black Market until he escaped at age 8. He learned survival smarts from his experiences, taking one man's alias with him in order to get $$$. Traveled to US, where he lived on the streets until one man took him in, and was finally given a name of his own: Zearu Flow. Zearu has grown a positive and polite attitude because of him. At age 15, gunfire, bombs, and gang warefare separated Zearu from the man. Only remnant found were his driver gloves, but no body. Zearu continues to look for his father figure today. "The World" Name: AzureWolf Class: Blademaster Weapon: Samurai Sword Gender: Male Description: Picture, thousand words, right? http://home.earthlink.net/~azurwolf/images/Samurai.jpg My Character: Simply, not what you would expect from someone who looks like a samurai. Mostly sarcastic, but friendly. :D Doesn't know how to hack, but envies those who do, and tries to befriend them.
