Haha, of course, I'm anticipating Soul Caliber 2 for the XBox. Yes, I've decided to get SC2 for XBox because I hear it looks better than the PS2's version, and I've played SC2 with a GC controller (what the hell were they thinking?). Also, the XBox controller is the most nostalgic controller to the DC's, so I'll be able to jump right in. The other game, me being a fan of the memorable old school series, is Ninja Gaiden. The only thing I'm worried about is if Tecmo will decide to put a little DOA into it ("I will save you miss, but your clothes are too heavy"). ::shudders:: Haha, Tecmo, PLEASE stay loyal to the series!

Hmm... I don't do anime things or anything mentioned above, but we usually try making some unique story, or try something challenging. For stories, we usually have some set characters that we can use, and then we decide on who the big boss would be. From there, we rotate the story, person to person, and see where it goes. I usually end up doing all of it anyway, since no one else likes their sense of imagination... Mostly, though, it just ends up as a knight's story, using Link, Marth, and Roy. For challenging, we found that a 3v1 against Bowser, with handicaps at 1 for players, and 9 for the Bowser CPU, is a lot of fun. Using other characters doesn't recreate the right effect, though. Some are too fast, and the weak, fast characters are impossible to beat. However, Bowser makes the perfect feel for the "daunting, too strong" enemy. You can win, but not until Bowser throws you at your friends, sends you sky high with just a flick of his power, and you last long enough to have a relatively high percentage that your speed when you get hit is glitch-erific.

I think we've been over this topic more than enough times. People here (specifically, the U.S.) call Japanese Animation "Anime" for simplicity's sake. That's it. So, Anime is the way Japanese say cartoons. Big deal. For me, it's a more convenient way to differentiate between Tom & Jerry and DBZ. I'm not going to go out and constantly say "Japanese Animation this, Japanese Anime that..." My mouth would get sore. I'd rather just punch the guy I'm talking to in the hopes that some of what I wanted to say goes through his head.
I still would like to see the feature where you can pick what color/font/size the text in your posts will be within your User CP.
I just want to emphasize this idea, with "size" left out. I'd rather not have my computer blasted with a giant "F," only to scroll down to read the next letter: "U." Maybe if there was a limited range, but I think the standard is just fine.

Yeah, that's right... I know someone like this: my roommate (or my ex-roommate, since I'm commuting now). Haha, if, like my roommate, the person is really flawed or doesn't know what he's talking about, I just tolerate them. I mean, I act passively towards them, since debating will get you nowhere, and you already know the guy's ego is too inflated to listen to reason. Examples are always good. Record of Lodoss War: my God! My roommate called everything they had a blatant rip of something! "Oh, a sword, a knight? That's such a rip of the middle ages!" Yeah, I'm exaggerating, but when I told him that everything's a rip of something else if you look at it that way, he thought God's gift to man (in his eyes), Lord of the Rings, was completely original, until I reminded him of the Middle Ages. Man, he was so pissed that he made up this whole new philosophy (on the spot) that there are two types of rips: ones that pay respect to their roots, and ones that diss/ignore their roots. Ridiculous, right? My response? "Alright, I see." No more discussion about what is and isn't a rip: I just let him say whatever. If Drama isn't his field, and he isn't willing to be open-minded, you shouldn't really let his comments bother you. When you get to be my age, you know who is worth talking to, and what is worth talking about. "Pick your battles." And I'm not talking about fist-fighitng. :)
I think we do not need 4 gaming sections. I do, however, think consoles and PC should be kept seperate because of the tech stuff that is included. So basically what I am suggesting is a console forum and a PC forum and that's it. The console forums have been so slow that I just don't see a reason to justify them being seperate. I also think combining them all would lead to far greater discussion between all groups... because it leads Nintendo only fans to read Xbox threads and vice versa.
I agree whole-heartedly! Haha, the XBox section has been so dead... Also, I notice that quite a few threads would belong best in, say, a "General Console Discussion" section than anywhere else. For example, there was a "Reputation of Nintendo" thread, and getting the opinion of just Nintendo fans instead all Otaku gamers doesn't give you an accurate/unbiased mindset on Nintendo.
There is an option for that. You must just not have all the right things selected. I've been here over a year and have yet to get any emails.
Well, yeah, I know there's an option for it. You know, it's "Use 'e-mail notification' by default?" option, but when you turn it off, it also turns off your subscription. Hmmm... I guess I should say what I want to be able to do. Alright, I have just posted a few posts on several threads and go to sleep right after. The next morning, I want to see no e-mail notifications. However, when I get on to the forums, I want to be able to click on my user cp and see the active threads. Currently, you can't have one without the other: you either get e-mails AND see the active threads in your User CP, or you get NO e-mails and see no active threads in your User CP (since you are not subscribed to them).
-
Personally, I would like to frag the e-mail notifications: I can check my User CP to check for new topics on my subscribed threads. I can't seem to find a way to be subscribed, but get no e-mail notifications at the same time. There should be an option for that. Another thing: I liked the three interface options for v6 (You know, those "Style Sets"). I hope you will be able to retain two or three choices for v7.

Anime theOtaku.com/dothack Looking for Contributors
AzureWolf replied to James's topic in Otaku Central
You don't have to this question if the answer's "yes" until the time comes, but could you please close this thread and inform us when you have finished looking for contributors? Obviously, you are going to that, but I just want to remind you to do so the minute you are done, so that those of us who didn't make the cut can stop hoping! :D -
Alright, I could be entirely wrong about this, but keep in mind that when you are making a game, you are limited to the hardware you working with. If you notice the chamber, anything stationary has a reflection. You, the player, do not. Why? Because creating a realtime reflection is quite a bit harder than creating the illusion of a reflection (not to mention the amount of processing power it would take). What you see on the floor is the floor, technically, as the stationary objects are just recreated on the floor. In other words, if you could pick up the objects as the game is now, you wouldn't see any change in the reflection. It's that simple. Now, the answer for Aura's lack of reflection may simply be because that statue may not be a stationary object. Maybe the chains do change or something. So, I really don't recommend analyzing something that technical. The anime is a different story (which this forum is supposed to be about, may I remind you): there are no technical limits, so anything that's put in the anime is there by fault. Although Project .hack is trying to merge these media, don't forget that they are still working with other people's products (i.e. PS2). :)

Anime What did you all think B.T.'s name stood for?
AzureWolf replied to Kaola Su's topic in Otaku Central
I always thought B.T. stood for b****y tramp. :D Nah, I'm just kidding. I guessed it was her initials, but I never put much thought on it after that. That is clever, though. Haha, what I really liked was
the little analysis about lettuce. That was brilliant, because it's true and, like they said, you never put much thought into it. It's lettuce! Mmmm, Crispiness...
-
Crim's really a free spirit. I could not see him conform to the stiff Crimson Knight ways. I doubt he was ever with them in the first place. I mean, I bet after seeing how strict and monotonous the attitude of the members got, he up and left. I guess he thought he could always see Subaru in the real world (B.T. says something about Crim making an except for Subaru when he declines B.T.'s offer).

Anime (US/CAN) General thoughts and ratings for .hack//SIGN 17, "Conflict"
AzureWolf replied to Shy's topic in Otaku Central
Haha, my favorite part was where those two "newbie" characters were going to kill B.T. :D Of course, they were mercenaries hired by me, the Treasurer of the "We hate B.T." fanclub (we'll talk later, K.K.C. ;) ). Stupid Tsukasa, couldn't he have come just a little bit later? Oh well... +0.5 only, since you stupid mercenaries failed...
I guess it was the part when Crim made BT cry. I, being one who dislikes BT, thought that was somewhat funny. But I did feel little sorry for her. I always thought she saw Crim as just a partner as well, but it seems Crim was liked more than I thought (I dont blame BT for having the hots for him)
Haha, I didn't feel sorry. In fact, I was happy that someone knocked some sense into her. She's always acting high-and-mighty, like she's better than everyone else (she did that to Mimiru this episode). But yeah, I could see how you feel sorry for her: she looked like she was so happy to see Crim, and, for once, she didn't have that "I'm better than you" look in her face. I like Crim's philosophy, though, about keeping the virtual and real world separate. It's a cool idea, IMO. Haha, Bear follows it too! Man, I also hated how B.T. was towards Subaru, even though I don't like either of them. However, Subaru seems to be becoming more interesting and likeable. She seems like a good person, and I guess she doesn't try to be "high and mighty": that's just how the Crimson Knights treat her because of her position. In fact, it sounded like she didn't want to stand out, or be better than other people. Even though B.T. was harsh, she was speaking the truth: you can't pretend you are someone you are not. And Tsukasa... That was really cool how they just started the show off with that shocking revelation. So he was data drained... (You know, my second guess about what happened to Tsukasa in the previous episode thread) -
For me, just my religious beliefs. That's really all I would see as worth fighting for. Well, I mean, that's on the top of my list. See, I'm petty, and I even fight for the littlest things. :) I must say, however, that I'm surprised that not many other people mentioned their religious beliefs... I know, there are Atheists, but what about the rest of you?
-
Haha, I don't use slang anymore, unless you consider "cool" slang. Anyway, my friends all say I sound silly when I talk slang, and they tell me never to use it. I don't even curse, believe it or not... When I was extremely young (grade school), a lot of kids my age were saying "Yo, you my number one Negro!" (well, not Negro, but you know). I thought it was a compliment, and I used it while passing some of my friends (same ones who tell me not to use slang these days) out in the open. I was so embarrassed when they later told me what it meant!

Although I'm relatively new, I have to agree with this suggestion. Last Monday (the Monday before this one), the Kenshin series took an amazing turn of both style and tempo. No longer is Kenshin a cliched "Tragic-Hero-always-wins-preacher": we are now with a warrior who fights not only himself, but his past, present, and future. With one fell swoop, Kenshin's pace accelerated, and its presentation became one of the coolest!

This SO belongs in the video game section... Anyway, there are certain boundaries for each parameter to get a certain grunty. If you fall outside of this boundary for even one parameter, you will get the default grunty: the Noble Grunty. For example, for your body odor parameter, you may need to get between 10-15 (the boundaries) to get an iron grunty.

I don't know whether you are talking about part 3 of 4 in the .hack game series, or the newly announced .hack card game (titled .hack//ENEMY). What are you saying, exactly? That there's going to be a game based on the characters from SIGN, or that there's going to be another game?

Anime What would you do with youself if "The World" were real?
AzureWolf replied to Braidless Baka's topic in Otaku Central
Grunty racing XD I never thought of that of that one. I would probably like to do a few races as well, but I would like to use my grunty for battles too. I wouldn't say Wavemaster would be the fewest characters. It seems to me that swords and staffs are what people would use the most. I think it would be a heavy axemen that would be picked the least.
Well, for the record, I didn't come up with Grunty Racing, at least not partially. In the games, you can do grunty races, but not with other people. Simply, a race against time. Good point about the Heavy Axeman, but you should change it to male Heavy Axeman (yeah, you'd think that was implied by "Axeman," but you actually call the woman version a female Heavy Axeman). You know there will be a lot of Subaru wannabes. Haha, the female Heavy Axeman characters look light as a feather, and those wings don't make them anymore daunting. Oh, that reminds me: they have a new character up at the official .hack website (game section) that's probably in the third game, and she's a Heavy Axeman. -
Anime What would you do with youself if "The World" were real?
AzureWolf replied to Braidless Baka's topic in Otaku Central
I didn't want to comment on this thread because I still don't know whether I would be a Twin Blade or Wavemaster. I'd probably pick Wavemaster since those would be the least-used type of character, and I think they are pretty cool. Although it doesn't seem like the "Wavemaster" thing to do, I would probably try to beat legendary players, and try to seek out rare items. I'd probably build a small, close group of friends, and we'd just do things together, like grunty racing. Haha, speaking of that, I'd also try to get the top ranks for everything, like Grunty racing! Take that, Balmung! :p -
Anime (US/CAN) General thoughts and ratings for .hack//SIGN 16, "Depth"
AzureWolf replied to Shy's topic in Otaku Central
Also, Azure Wolf haven't you already seen this whole series? I never read any of the spoiler threads b/c I didn't want to be disappointed but didn't you write those? Just wondering!
You sound like you are afraid of me! Haha, I don't bite. ;) Anyway, I think you are referring to Solid's posts. The only spoilers I have posted are game spoilers - if you can even call them spoilers since the games have already been released in the U.S.
I don't exactly hate BT, but she is sort of cocky. I don't know why, but up until now I didn't like Subaru at all, I'm not sure what it was a bout her I didn't like, but after watching "Depth", I've decided she's ok.
How could you not hate B.T.?! I don't have respect for anyone who likes B.T. :twitch: (j/k). Yeah, I never liked Subaru either. I never said so because... uh... I don't know, it's just that the subject never came up. I just don't like Subaru's high-and-mighty attitude, but she's more tolerable now, especially after Depth. I still wouldn't put her on my like list though.
Why does everyone hate BT? i dont mind her.
Gasp! Another one! Anyway, just read a few of the previous episode review threads and you'll see why (you know, the ones Shy makes). -
Anime theOtaku.com/dothack Looking for Contributors
AzureWolf replied to James's topic in Otaku Central
James, the fact that you are sticky-ing this thread and restating what you need to do: does that mean anyone who sent you an application/writing sample didn't fit the bill? Also, if that's true, can those persons send you another writing sample? Thanks. -
Haha, 7gR, two things: first, double posting is not allowed. Second, remember to analyze when you present. :) Anyway,
Epitaph Note 00 (Obtained in INFECTION): Shunning the field broken by Wave, The shadowed girl whispers, "Surely, I will return." Alas, the truth unbeknownst, Awaiting her at journey's end; Eternal mourning for her land.
This piece is very vague, but it sounds like it would belong near the end of the Epitaph. My Summary: The Wave has completed its task, and the "shadowed girl" steers clear of the Wave's victim (the field). Eventually, she will return, only to find the place she came from permanently gone... The reason I believe the field will be gone is the fact that the field has already been broken by the Wave. What could be worse than a completely mangled homeland? Well, the loss of a homeland. Besides, eternal mourning is a little too much if the place was just ravaged. Hey, it could be restored. The questions this piece brings up: Who is the shadowed girl? Aura? That seems to be the most probable. I think the song "Aura" has a lot of significance to these questions, though. What's so special about where the shadowed girl came from? Could that place be the legendary Twilight? What would be so great about a place that this awesome Wave would need to destroy it?
Epitaph Note 01 (Obtained in INFECTION): When the finger points to yonder moon, The fool will not look at the fingertip.
Haha, I have no friggin' clue. My best guess is
Innis' description. Innis is the mirage of deceit, and when all things point clearly to one, he will disguise the truth and keep you astray. But Innis is dead, so it doesn't work, unless he's already lead you astray... Haha, I think he did, but I'll save that for later.
Up next, the piece everyone's been waiting for. No, it's not the illegible piece (I'm not going to bother with that).
You guessed it! I'll be analyzing the entire piece from Wiseman!

one quastion, how do youi get all these info, from the games, or from the Hack//dusk and the Oav's? i mean, all those things are never explained in the series wich is quiet a shame, so where can i find some summary or something about the games, since i havnt got any ps2... )-:....
Yeah, sorry. This stuff is really only in the games and LIMINALITY. However, I don't see why you are so disappointed. Just rent the games, as they are short and continue the .hack//SIGN story (the games start 6 months after the events of SIGN). .hack//DUSK? I have no idea. I haven't seen that anime, but as soon as they release it, I'll be all over it! DUSK happens after the games, so it's good that they haven't released it yet (although the manga is coming this september!). I'll say it again, though: the games are at the center of Project .hack's story (according to the creators).
I'll just also add that it was spoken in German at the beginning of the game. If anyone has any theories as to why that could be significant, I'd love to know. True, it could just be the language the player who wrote it was a native speaker of. But call me curious...
Good point, should have mentioned that. Thanks. The importance of the Epitaph being written in German is the fact that the creator, Harald Hyuek, is a German programmer (Emma Wieland is also German). This fact tells us that the Epitaph is very significant to either the creation or destruction of "The World," and possibly all computer systems.
And, I also think that the "key of the twilight" post on the BBS mentioned in the series (bareing in mind I haven't seen the whole series so it may have already been explained in a later episode) could be this one. They aren't sure what the post contains in the series, and I think Crim or BT mentions it's written in German.
Haha, I think it is! Another good point. I completely forgot about that. They mention a lot of things in .hack//SIGN that you only see later in the games (like Orca and Balmung).
About Aura's statue,Why when you defeat a phase one of the 8 chains don't come off?
It's a statue. Why would a statue change?
Besides, it is probably because you aren't doing the right thing...

So what you're saying is that Helba and Apieron are AI and have been there since the World was Created?Yes and thank you for bringing up the fact that Emma and Harald were good friends. Is that scene at the beginning of Mai Minase a flashback? With Harald at Emma Wielant's grave usually flashbacks in any .hack series is followed by fuzzy stuff in the memory.
Well, I'm not saying that. The Epitaph of Twilight was written by Emma Wieland, so she knew of Helba and Aperiron when she was writing it. Did she need their help to create the world, or is this writing a foreshadowing of the major players in "The World"'s fate?
-
Man I was just stating my thought on the show
That's fine and dandy, but don't state it like it is fact. Use "I think" and "My guess is." That way, it won't sound like you are stating something that is flawlessly true.
