1.
From e-mail to a translator >Hey there, I've seen your submission of Obsession's lyrics for .hack//SIGN. > I hope you are the one who >found the lyrics yourself, because I have a >question. Were some parts, such as "deep in the night," sung >Japanese or >partially in Japanese, or was it all in English? Some parts don't sound >like they are in English, >so I concluded that they were sung in Japanese >since it even sounds like there are less syllables. Thanks. Yeah, it does sound a bit confusing, but the entire song is in English. The reason I know is that I have the CD Single and I looked at the lyrics from the booklet. I think it's just the fact that you have a Japanese person singing in English. It's good to know that someone reads my stuff ^_^ The Spatula
Guess you were right after all. I still don't hear it, but at least I know it's english, haha. I just figured since it sounded less than the # of syllables that were "translated," it was sung partially in Japanese. My mistake.
 2. A life-gaining deck is normally supposed to be comparatively large (around 55 cards), so you can deck-out your opponent. It's not supposed to deck you out, haha. In any case, if he wants a small, life-gaining deck, he should also put draw and discard cards in, such as white magical hat, bistro butcher, and card destruction. Also, if he wants a truly original stall, and one that will be annoying to anyone if played right, he should put in DNA Surgery and Dragon Capture Jar for his dancing fairies ;) . This combo was created by the great duelist 1st_Millenium (aka Neo Maverick). :lecture:
 3. Penguion Warlord: Seems like you are all over the place. It isn't necessarily bad (it actually looks pretty good, haha), but your deck would be more effective if you had a theme (i.e., your cards worked together). For now, here's my recommendation: Low Level Monsters Sangan Magician of Faith Time Wizard Harpie's Brother Harpie's Brother White Magical Hat 7 Colored Fish Cyber Jar Maha Vailo Man-Eater Bug Big Eye Aqua Madoor Gearfried the Iron Knight Witch of the Black Forest Princess of Tsurugi 7 Colored Fish Penguin Soilder Island Turtle Tribute Monsters Sanga of the Thunder Ritual Monsters Relinquished Magic Cards Pot of Greed (Shouldn't be hard to get anymore with TP3) Monster Reborn Giant Trunade Malevolent Nuzzler Scapegoat Graceful Charity Change of Heart Fissure Black Pendant Mystical Space Typhoon Dark Hole Black Illusion Ritual Bait Doll Trap Cards (6) Seven Tools of the Bandit Trap Hole x2 Waboku x2 Magic Jammer Removed Fire Sorcerer Dream Clown Yami Just Desserts Deal of Phantom Dian Keto x2 I think you need one more card to make it legit, but you get the idea. I hope that helps! __________________________________________________ Daz: you are really all over the place. Centralize your deck a bit more. Too many tributes - WAY TOO many. This deck does have potential to be a fusion deck, dragon deck, or an original beatdown. For beatdown: TRIBUTES summoned skull x2 LOW LEVEL MONSTERS sangan magician of faith maha vailo big eye harpies brother x3 time wizard penguin soldier karate man la jinn the mystical genie of the lamp sprit of the harp gearfried the iron night white magical hat Cyber Jar Man-eater bug Witch of the black forest MAGIC CARDS Pot of Greed chain energy eternal rest card destruction giant trunade block attack polymerization scapegoat change of heart shield and sword tribute to the doomed malevolent nuzzler monster reborn dark hole TRAP CARDS skull lair magic drain acid trap hole robbin goblin fake trap Removed Blue Eyes Red Eyes Garnecia Elephantis Tri Horned Dragon Amphibian Beast Labyrinth Wall swordsman of landstar misaki the legendary swordsman baby dragon armoured lizard dan keto the cure master de-spell flute of summoning dragon mountain dragon treasurex3 gaia power soul exchage Try that. It should work much better, haha. If you want a dragon or fusion deck, you will have to ask someone else. :D __________________________________________________ Oni: Could you post your deck vertically, with Monsters, magics, and traps separated? It'll be easier to help or make comments.
 4. I've heard this argument before from my roommate. Granted, however, he worships the Matrix and never even saw .hack. Plus, he's very biased against anything he's never seen. In other words, if he hasn't seen it already, it's not worth seeing or is a blatant rip-off of something better that's he's seen already. I shut him up by arguing that if you call .hack a rip (something he's never even seen before) a rip of The Matrix, then the Matrix is a rip of MMORPGs, since .hack is more like Everquest and the sort than The Matrix. He was quiet after that, since he refused to believe Matrix was a rip of anything. Booya! :p Alright, I'll stop reminiscing about my jerk of a roommate, haha. Anyway, while you could call it a "reverse Matrix" in the sense you stated, that's as far as the comparisons go. When you keep looking and looking at the themes and ideas behind The Matrix and .hack, the farther and farther the relations become. First off, the Matrix and .hack show the virtual reality in different ways: the Matrix is just a simulated slum, while .hack creates a lush, colorful, and vibrant simulation. In other words, The Matrix has a the real world mirrored in its virtual world, while .hack has the real world contrasting its virtual world (i.e., real world is black and white/colorless, depressing, dull, etc.). I will eventually post more (or edit my post), but right now, I gotta eat. Later!
 5. Interesting... You know, I listened to it to, and I was wondering over and over why I couldn't hear some of the words. Finally, I realized that there were parts that were sung in Japanese. I admit, however, that the song is dominantly english, but there are a few Japanese phrases. I haven't heard the "Full-sized" version, but for the TV-mix, I'll break down the entire song:
how come I must know -English where obsession needs to go? -English how come I must know -English the direction of relieving? -English deep in the night -Japanese far off the light -Pseudo-Refrain in Japanese missing my headache -Only "headache" in English visions of light -Japanese sweeter delight -Pseudo-Refrain in English kissin' my loveache -Only "loveache" in English how come I must know -English where obsession needs to go? -English how come I must know -English where the passion hides its feelings? -English First verse refrain -English
That's the gist of it. I know there's those cool refrains here and there, but that's just being nitpicky. Anyway, I don't care how much you have been trained, how talented you are, or how much slang you know: there's no way you can turn three or four syllables into two. If you can tell me the miraculous method of how See-Saw (the group that did the recording, I think) transformed "missing my" or "deep in the night" into only two and three syllables respectively, then I will agree with you that Obsession is all in english.
 6.
well, I wasn't too sure about that episode b/c bear told mimru that he thought he may have found tsukasa in the real world but was wrong...but I thought he was right...what is going on there? So did he figure out it was Tsukasa or not? Also, I didn't see anything that showed Tsukasa to be a girl. I might need my memory refreshed. Also I watched it on cartoon network so maybe it cut some things out.. I don't know
I'm also torn between both possibilities after this episode. First off, Tsukasa says he's a guy in real life. However, after the Party episode that came just before this one, we find so many things out about Tsukasa (that's all Party was for, haha). So, what are the chances that two people in a coma (there are very few, or else this coma incident would have been a more popular problem), one boy and one girl, have a dead mother who watched old films and has a selfish father (Tsukasa keeps talking about adults' character in Party)? Very slim, but that would mean Tsukasa's in denial and wants to be a boy. Either that, or he's lying so they don't ever find him in real life so he never has to return to the real world (he doesn't want to, anyway). Still, Bear said Tsukasa wasn't lying, so either A. Tsukasa's a girl who fervently believes he should have been a boy; or B. Tsukasa's a boy and Bear's found the wrong person. I lean more towards B., because why would Tsukasa deny his real life gender? It's more probable that you find the wrong person than you yourself not knowing whether you are a boy or girl. haha, that's just ludicrous  Let me just make one more observation, haha. :lecture: The beginning of Entanglement has Tsukasa having a heart attack (sort of), and there's that scene that simultaneously happens in the real world of the guy trying to pull the plug. Again, another scene that's either too coincidental, or they put those two scens together to throw you off... Were they happening at the same time, or was it just shown that way? I mean, the only time they show the real world not at the time of its occurence is Tsukasa's memories, so they wouldn't just change that style... So that means Tsukasa's a girl? Then why would he think otherwise? How could you not know what gender you are?! Ow, head hurt. :bash: I think I'll stop trying. He's a boy: you can't not know what gender you are. It boggles the mind. That's my position, haha.
 7.
I really enjoy the music of .hack//sign. Some of my friends complain that the music is too mellow compared to other series such as Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop. The music isn't really a focal point, and it just blends with the series perfectly. My friend lent me a copy of the OST, and I always listen to it while I am on the computer.
Actually, the music is very much a part of the series. While it may not be a focal point per say, it is more significant to the experience (as well as for the story/character development) than you brush it off to be. Take Subaru and the song that plays while she is on the screen: Fake Wings. Now, the following isn't a spoiler, but it is my opinion/forecast, and if it's right, then it is a spoiler, haha.
Fake Wings talks about a person who "flies" because of another ("Dear my love"), but at the end of the song, that other person goes too far. I think the song basically says that while Subaru is all high-and-mighty right now because of the Silver Knight (her love), he'll eventually succeed her or go past her in some other way, and she'll suffer a huge fall from her high place.
Oh, and the name of the song everyone likes (i.e., twilight, track #4, come with in the twilight, etc.) is "Key of the Twilight." Also, the opening song, Obsession, is sung in a mix of english and japanese, while yasashii yaoke, the ending song, is sung in all Japanese. Every other song in .hack is sung in complete english.
