Barack Obama: Confirmed to be 44th President of the United States
But that doesn't make the hope any less...hopeful.
Speaking of silly little quotes I feel moderately compelled to point out that such a hope is vain. And his sentiment was one that could be easily interpreted to mean that all conservatives are stifling his goal of a socialist America. So in short, all dissent would disappear. That's not an admirable goal in the least, that's insanity. -
Fox NEWS: Obama is a troll-king! CNN: Clinton is incredible, oh no she's losing, Obama is pretty cool too I guess. . . MSNBC: Obama is the messiah!
The troll king would've been preferable personally... ...His wardrobe would've been far more varied and exciting. Let's play find the flag pin! And yes. The media. That construct of misleading and spin that pollutes our minds when we make the mistake of paying attention to them. I think it speaks just a little too well to your mild....neuroses that you would love [LOVE] to live in a one party nation. I think I read this book once. What was the title? 198-something. Oh rats I can't remember at all now. -
One thing most people don't know is that Obama was at the Nuremberg Rally in '33 with Hitler. Haha, but, seriously, conservatives and the "Obama has secretssssssssseseses" line hopefully will go away since the general election is over.
Do you honestly think conservatives will go away just because the election didn't favor them this year? How divisive of you. And it's not a matter of Obama has secretses so much as there are things about him not being actively reported even if they exist. Trying to tell me that the majority of media outlets wasn't totally enamored with making Obama look faultless before, during, and after [now] the election will be fun to try and square. -
Excuse me while I read this to my friends, have a good laugh over it, and then find myself abruptly crying while writing my paper at 3 in the morning.
Why would you cry over something you have no control over and can neither prove nor disprove? There is a pretty strong case for Obama being raised within one culture and then abruptly switched to another. It's right there in his books and writing. And now that he's the President Elect, it'll be fun to see how much more is finally revealed by the media which was oddly reluctant to expose his past. We know more about Joe the Plumber than we ever knew about Obama's past. -
How have any of the propositions done anything that you just listed?
Let's see. Did you read the Prop 8 bill in the state of California? No? Well then get back to me and try again. Did you read any of the other Props? Well this may not be known to you, but California's bllls were all bonds bonds bonds bonds, which is all well and good until you realize that our economy has gone so far down into the red that we're virtually on the other side of the color spectrum now. We have to borrow money from other states to pay the salaries of state employees. All of the propositions put up for this year's ballot were designed to waste time that we don't have, spend money the state doesn't have, and create new meanings of words that have no business anywhere IN the state Constitution. -
And it might just be because I haven't seen many parkours or freerunners, but are there a lot more guys that do this? Or is it pretty balanced?
My friend's team is pretty much comprised of males actually and I don't see a lot of chicks doing it, but heck. Most women prefer to do things that have a slightly lower chance of serious injury.

I know a ridiculously hot 6'8" 170 pound male from southern California that does it like gravity has no hold on him. Sadly I am not one of those people. On the other hand I have pretty good balance and can run on a rail or fence or ridgepole really well, and I know how to fall. I just also don't have a ton of upper body strength, but my friends like to throw me upwards onto railings and racks. You could say I'm like the cannonball and they're the cannons. I just have arms. ...and so do they. I also was in Mammoth in the Sierra Nevada mountains and I saw some guys doing the free running, only with glaciers, boulders, trees, fallen stumps, and rivers. Hard to keep up with them, but 100% worth it.
Did you just disagree with yourself?
Actually there isn't a disagreement. I just happen to believe that once they write a good proposition that handles the subject of homosexual partnerships without managing to stifle/offend/etcetcetc heterosexual partnerships I'll be happy to support it with my vote. -
Change we can believe in meets traditionalism we can oppress with.
This is the part where I do an angry little dance on a very narrow soap box. Not everyone who voted to uphold the legal definition of marriage [as flawed as it is] did it because they're oppressive bigots. You know some of us, and by some I mean like 1% of voters, actually slogged through the propositions in question and found them to be a: horrifically open to completely subjective and unhealthy interpretation and b: badly written. Come up with a proposition that doesn't tell me what we can and can't say in the public schools about 'mother' and 'father' and I'll probably view it with a little more magnanimity. But automatically assuming that only oppressors vote down gay marriage legislation is both intellectually dishonest and oh so easy. So that's probably why so many people do it. Hooray for California. Chickens now have more rights than gay people. -
I'm really tired of this "I'm moving to _______ bitchbitchwhinemoan" (though it's amusing when the kids who call Obama a socialist say they'll move to Canada). And this isn't even directed at people here, it's all over Facebook statuses and I hear people saying it.
I've discovered that people on facebook tend to run in a certain direction, which is to say to the far far far far left. My friends newsfeeds are awash with political rhetoric and whatnot, and all of it very dreary and inflammatory. But I honestly have difficulty believing that joining a facebook group and posting like the group itself makes CHANGE is legitimate political discourse. I personally would rather move to Hong Kong and have a good time enjoying the capitalism except for the part where the heat would eventually drop me into a coma. Although if I were in a coma, it wouldn't matter where I was... I'd rather stay here and ride out the wave. It's far more thrilling to be close to the flow of political sea change, even if it isn't what I wanted. Just for the record: Kosovo and Bosnia. Clinton. Oops. -
Good God, you sound like my boss! But seriously, it's nice to see all the hubub is over. Now, the real work begins.
Yes, keeping down our lunches. Oh it's going to be such a challenge... -
It just occurred to me, looking at my previous post, that it's really difficult to respond to this sort of thing without sounding like a total jerk. I'm in no way meaning to offend anyone, sorry if I'm coming off as overtly harsh. :animeswea
Now now, it's alright. Just remember. If someone's posting in pink, they probably don't want to be taken seriously. In my case, just assume sarcasm for the most part unless I'm waxing verbose and classy. Currently I think Obama will not end the world, nor will he do GREAT THINGS for the country. It's impossible in the sense of he has no political capital yet, no proven record, and no predictability. We've never seen him respond in times of crisis and we've never seen him in stressful high risk high stakes games. Obama might call himself a Christian, but it's up to his actions to prove where his loyalties lie. And thus far we've seen stump speeches. Not meaningful actions.

It's hard to like somebody with spelling issues right in their thread titles. It's difficult as well to buy into your subject when a great deal of us don't agree with you and don't give Obama that much credit at all.

Congratulations America. You did what you 'felt' was right. Now I'll just sit over here with the sane Independents, Libertarians, Republicans, and jilted Hillary supporters and sip my orange juice, hash browns, and coffee. I'm not depressed either. Part of me is actually thrilled he's won. Now with the all Democratic branches of government, senate, house, etc, nothing can possibly be the fault of the Republicans. Nothing at all.
So you'll have that on your conscious now, Vicky.
If she had one of those I'm sure she'd mind. Unfortunately she's Vicky and comes with a conscience that only occasionally wakes up from a deep slumber every time I remind her that she's being lazy about posting. So don't panic. I know what to do!

Voting accomplished. Now I can sit back and moan about the results guilt free. Although I did something naughty. I blew past six No on Gay Marriage Ban people at 8 am and nearly mowed down a woman trying to flag me across the sidewalk so she could tell me to vote Yes on the Gay Marriage ban. "We'd like you to note these businesses are against the Prop 8 bi-" "NOT NOW!" I continued to make my way to the line wrapping around the fire station. "But it's discriminat-" "CAN'T TALK!" And they continued to shout at me while I calmly went to my precinct line. I zenned them out of being and marched straight into the booth and made angry marks with my pen, then marched right back out and pretended they weren't there staring at me like I was the Whore Of Babylon. Theoretically it's because I decided to vote in a sexy business casual outfit, just to bring some pizzaz to the process. Always complimented by my pin that reads "What evil have I brought upon us? Oh. Right. Me." And next there will be therapy and riots in the street and blah de blah de blah. Whatever. Nobody has to know how I voted, because nobody has to care about it but me. Also, nobody can tell me how to vote because it's again, none of their business. Enjoy the suspense. -

And no, I'm not dressed up as any one particular person, I just felt like going to a party as a cyberpunk/industrialized goth lady. With me is my male creature also known as Prince Cherry. Since using his real name would be naughty. -
I don't think you'll ever find Soju in any western store...at least not soju like you can get in Korea....actually if I lived in Korea I would probably just die from drinking OB and soju every night (actually almost happened to me at a jucy....well a bar.)
Oh yea of little faith, clearly you have never been to California. In any store on the coast you can get Soju. In fact some Korean BBQ places have special liquor licenses for their businesses that only allow them to serve Soju. Come on now. You're not as alone as you think... -
Free sex toys - and much more - for voting.
Or both. In any case, I'm already running. :D
Unfortunately for you, and Indi as well, I have something in common with Sarah Palin. We both know how to use rifles meant to bring down large game. In this case I'm pretty sure that even with a running start, you shouldn't run from me. You'll just die tired. And quite honestly folks, I do NOT want a sex toy that's actually free. I prefer quality over quantity for one. And I'd much rather have something that didn't have someone else's hands all over it first. Ick. -
I'm not sure what's precisely going on because you have this strange tendency to gloss over the action. "The mysterious wrestler beat up all of the WWE Wrestlers." Well how? And why? And what did it look like? Were there words spoken? Did the crowd go wild? Leaving out the action there isn't much going on that can hook in people. Writing about something as macho as wrestling usually has to depend on events of pure unadulterated violence to make people interested. And as far as the grammar, I do not think there is a free pass to be had when the lowliest of MS word applications has spellcheck. The spelling and grammar will be checked for you, eliminating any real need to focus on it. However the technical errors and typos and formatting mistakes make this difficult to delve further into.
And it actually doesn't matter what order you drink beer or liquor in, thats just an old wives tale.
For those of an asian extraction? Drinking things that contain lactose is like someone with a peanut allergy binging on Nutter Butters. We tend to be slightly lactose sensitive to full blown intolerant, which will give you a whole host of other problems. Additionally that whole beer and liquor thing has a general basis in pacing, but for that you'd need self control. And since we're all juvenile creatures, I'll just remind you. If you're lactose sensitive, don't put milk in your body regardless of how good it is with vodka and creme. -
A lot of the clear liquors are usually pretty good. I'll ask around and report back. ^^
Stay away from mojitos. The taste of the mint will clear your sinuses about as effectively as wasabi, but with added bonus of getting blasted out of your pew. I don't recommend baiju, the Chinese rice wine because while tasty, will also drop you to your knees howling at the moon. However if you're in the Phillipines, tuba is pretty good. Yes. It's called tuba. I don't know why. It's a palm wine and it's pretty yummo. Do not put milk near anything you're drinking. But beer before liquor you'll never be sicker. -

Drink Jaegermeister and Red Bull, aka the Jaegerbomb. It'll be sweet and cloying and pack a punch but you won't notice until it's too late. Plus you'll get the energy drink spike. OR Mix rum with coke and drink it with a lot of ice. There are several good possibilities, i.e. the grenadine mixer, or the Adios Mother Fcker. Appletinis, Long Island Iced tea, Midori Sours, anything mixed with sours is generally good. -

I always figured vampires would subsist not only on the physical blood but the magnetism and aura and psychic energy released during such a sensual or violent act. Psychic blood drinking creatures. Vampire is only one of several possible monikers for such a being... .....ah good old lore. Anyway I like blood because of the iron concentration [good for anemics], and because cows blood leeching from a deliciously undercooked steak is fun to sop up with your sourdough bread. Call me a vampire. But blood tastes good as a flavoring.
