2004 Re-Elections [a.k.a. Is Bush a Good President?]
Raiha replied to eleanor's topic in General Discussion
Well, he's good if you compare him to someone like...oh.... .... Dwight Eisinhower. He's awful if you compare him to Franklin Delanor Roosevelt. But I don't see too much bad with him. It's easy to blame the .com bubble popping and the awful economy all on him. But if you think about it, it would've happened sooner or later. And if Al Gore, god forbid, was our president, we would've blamed him. Same with anybody else. We Americans always need somebody to blame. ....this war on Iraq....oh, sorry, Terrorism, is rather ...damaging. Like the majority of the population, I have no idea where he's going with this besides downhill. Like my mother, I feel he has a hidden agenda, or he's got something new he's going to pull out of the *** ten seconds before we impeach him. But I'm not sure exactly what he has in mind. So I can't say. And that's all I can think of at the moment, I'm sure Alex will inspire me to say more. -
*cough* ....did you catch the part about the 15th century? *clears through*

She pressed her hand against his cheek. It was warm and comforting, compared to the cold steel and crisp sheets of the clinical beds. He was awake. She needed nothing more. Her knees didn't even feel the chill of the cold tile floor, nor did they ache from the firm unyielding surface. She laid her head down next to his, grasping his hand with hers, gripping it tightly, as if he would fade away if she didn't hold on. Brant turned and looked into the eternity that was her eyes. He smiled. It would be nice if they were married. To have a wife. Wife. Wife was solace. Comfort. No, chocolate was comfort. Wife was solace. She was his, despite the storms the two had endured. And the liturgy she had spoken so softly over his head. Was for him as much as it was for her. And when she closed her eyes and inhaled, she could smell his warmth, his strength, despite the torn flesh, the IV drip, and the surgery itself....she still was comforted by his nearness. His kindness, the way he spoke to her despite the pain. "Be here for me then." "I can't exactly leave." ".....you know what I mean." Her eyes half closed and she was transported into another realm. It looked like an old farm. There was Scendelon snorting and stamping against the rain. Sitting on the porch, rocking back and forth by hereslf, all alone. Nobody nearby, but the darkness in the sky speaking for itself. The tears, so many, falling so fast. Eventually, she had spent them, and began to weep blood. Not a torrent, but enough to stain her hands. ......red...crimson...with life tortured.

In a vaguely disturbing world, disturbing at least to the trusting masses, there are lines. Lines of love, lines of time, power, energy, magic, darkness.... All connected to form a web, a web of both Discord and Harmony. And this Order that is created sustains the life of this world known as Tzinsene. Magic is commonplace. Curses, Counter-Curses, Blessings, Glamours, Charms, Hexs, and everything in between abounds. Here, everyone is separated by both race and religion. Creatures seldom mix with others, save perhaps faeries and Elves of all kinds. Dragons and Dragourets are feared and respected. Asuras, demi-demons, and various trickster spirits are considered annoying and dangerous by the majority, thus banished on sight. Of course ... this method of banishment is temporary. The Darkness is shut off from the light by dark forests, blasted deserts, and wide oceans. Sirens, Nyads, and Dryads are found in great abundance along with various sprites, earth angels, and small moon shades. All these beings get along vaguely well, but when the strings of life are tweaked, bad things happen. Divine discontent arises. The gods, see to absolutely nothing except their own praise. They will keep most things in check, but a break in the web is beyond even their control. A line could snap at any time, but this tension keeps everyone in line. Until now. Lately, various small things have been going wrong. Nothign serious, and hardly anyone notices. ....yet. Our time period is roughly mid 15th century, gothic style architecture, built by elves and drows mostly. Style of dress is vaguely mideval, magic users are common, warriors are nice, and transvestites are interesting. Signups follow this basic scheme. Adhere strictly, give me a sample dialouge/descriptive paragraph and you could get in. Be sloppy and ugly and you may kiss my natural asian ass for free. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Name: be creative, no Joe Smith or Agent 054BZ49869. We sway from side to side, Holding nothing but hands, Looking nowhere but up, Waiting for skyfall. And when it happens, We look at each other, Sweetness becoming eternity, As we lose ourselves. In the forever that's us, Seperately apart, From different scenes, But so rightly together. You so clean cut, And me so wild and wired, It's perfect, If a little whack by today's standards. The same ones that keep you, From speaking to me, Where everyone can see it, I laugh. -
They took the news rather well, Satell especially. She had gained control of her torid emotions only moments before he had exited the office to proclaim the news. The both of them were extremely relieved, and Satell left their company immediately to visit him. The doctor and Zarian exchanged a meaningful look. As in ...."What....is...going on here?" After smilings slightly at Tommi's reaction, Satell opened the door quietly and padded in, showing all the good sense and quiet fortitude a life on Mars had taught her. Brant was either heavily drugged or simply asleep. Either way she touched his face with her lips softly, then touched it with the palm of her hand. He was warm, but that was simply his body reacting to shock. He stirred slightly and she knew he was only dreaming. He reached up to touch her hand and she smiled gently. "Light of lights, keep us from inward darkness. Garnt us so to sleep in peace that we may arise to serve you further." The lines from an old liturgy came back to her and she spoke them with ease. So many memories came flooding back into her mind all at once....almost too many to handle. She smiled and kissed his forehead once more, then sat down in the nearby chair and watied for him to wake.

Zharra left momentarily and came back with her army surplus pack. It was roughly the size of her torso and arms put together and carried at least 45 lbs. of gear. But sadly, she had only the bare necessities, plus a few dresses, a jewelry/safe box and a very very deadly looking katana. She smiled at their shocked expressions. As far as they knew, she had showed up with nothing but sarcasm and a gun. She gave them a sweet smile and dropped it to the ground, shaking the hall and forcing the drink machine to dispense a Sprite. Before Liam's hand was halfway there, she had snatched it, opened it, and drained it. "Let's hump it." They stared at her, uncomprehending. She threw her hands up with an exasperated sigh and picked up her pack and lightly stepped out down the hall towards the waiting bus. Liam and Bradley stared at her walking for a few seconds then suddenly understood. "Walk!" "Right!" ".....gee." They took up their perspective pieces of luggage and followed her. And as usual, they found her making herself at home for the very long bus ride. She had already hooked her iPod up to the radios and taped it down with...duct tape? "What else do you have in there?" "...that would be none of your buisness Liam." "Oh really...?" "Actually I'm not really sure anymore."

You've got a reputation, I've got standards, We're holding back, Cause they tell us to. I had hoped you'd get over it, And that I'd get over me, But of course, Why the hell would that happen? You're hella cute, And you check me out, Even when I'm not noticing, It's all good. It's flattering, The way we have a crushing attraction, Between each other, Oh well. That's school life. -
His continued stroking of her hair swiftly reduced her speech to mutters, moans, and other inane gibberish, relaxing her very quickly. He smiled at her and cradled her gently, rocking back and forth slowly. Zharra curled against his body, not even needing to go into a fetal position, he was so powerfuly built. The two were very still for a long time, having absolutely nothing better to do. She looked up at him quietly, a soft smile on her face, quite unlike before. "So you're not lying." "Bout what?" "'Smitting'." "Well yeah, you'd have to be crazy not to love you." She blushed at the compliment and snuggled closer to him. He certainly had a way with words. And she fell for it lock, stock, and barrel. Not that he was leading her on. Zharra closed her eyes and rested. "You're fantastic." "Thanks....first time I've heard that from any woman." "Let's keep it that way." She opened one eye and grinned at him once more.

It would be great to see you again, Now that the old wounds have mended, I promise I'll be waiting by the door, Unlike so many nights before. That night you found me in the living room, Along with the bottle I had just consumed, I cried for hours after you had left, Must be hard to forgive even harder to forget. So do you recall how to get here? You might not recognize what you see. It's the take the second right by the second light, Past Cherry Street go left, It's the second house beneath the willow tree, I'll be there waiting. Now that we've watched all the season's change, I've had time to see where my life had strayed, And through every pain and disbelief, You stood close by through my lies through my deceit. So do you recall how to get here? You might not recognize what you see. Through my selfishness, Couldn't see where you were coming from, It took your leaving to see what I'd become, You saw past all the things I'd done. ~~~~~~~ Plumb, Willow Tree -
That's not necessarily true, I got my current and soon to be ex job by simply knowing the right person. She interviewed, I was accepted, bingo, paychecks! And my next job will come vaguely in the same way. I answer phones, fill perscriptions, smile at people, schedule appointments.

He rubbed her shoulders down and the rest of her body, then brought his arms around to encircle her waist. She laughed softly and tilted her head to one side, accomidating his warm breath on the side of her neck. When his lips softly touched her skin, she was reduced to a gibbering heap within ten seconds. Bradley chuckled and turned her around, still wrapped up in the blanket, and kissed her gently. This time, she put her hand to the side of his face. An act of tenderness. Several minutes later, she realized that they were both turning blue and got dressed. As she slid on her combat boots he watched her fingers deftly turn and pull the laces. It didn'tmake sense. He was still working at tightening them. "How do you do it?" "Practice. I was wearing these bricks since I was 10." "Why though? Were your cousins that controlling?" "Not controlling. They just wanted me to be up there with the best. That I'd survive." She smiled slightly, remembering her past. How Ananda woke her up at the crack of dawn and started them both out with running. Then working out, and THEN breakfast. Memory of which..... Zharra stood and straightened her hair out with her fingers, rapidly braiding it down her back once more. It would dry within the hour. Bradley stood as well and took her arm gallantly. She grinned at the chivalry and allowed him to open the door for her. Very calmly, the two took the walk to the cafeteria, encountering nothing out of the ordinary.

YES! I have inflicted pain and led an expedition across great mountain ranges! I'd say you've got my persona down really good..... of course to make it realistic, I should swear alot and seduce a few moderators, maybe even an administrator with a name that begins with a C. On that note, if I can inflict a little pain in the morning, I sleep better at night.

She held his hand, and they smiled at eachother, not out of the young giddy happiness, more out of satisfaction. Bradley looked satiated, calm, still the big, powerful looking creature everyone knew him to be. Zharra knew better. He was extrordinarily gentle, comforting, and really an excellent kisser. He eyed her as she mentally categorized him in return. Long legs, great body in general, warm, slender, very sweet, passionate, also an excellent kisser. She squeezed his hand in her and the two kept on walking towards the cafeteria. Rae was still asleep, and those two Russians.....fates knew where they were. As soon as the entered, Matt stood and greeted them, noting Zharra and Bradley's contact. "Good morning." "Hello Matt." "Hey." "......so.....the signifigance of this is...?" "What do you think?" Zharra was looking at him like he was something that had crawled up through the drain and was about to attack her personal life. "Are you sure it's....wise?" She opened her mouth and was about to give him the dressing down of his life when Bradley gentely nudged her over and took control. "We will not let it interfere with our work, nor let it affect our judgement. Thank you have a nice day." Matt shook his head and left while Zharra flashed obscene symbols and mouthed various four letter words at his back.

In my garden, The sun is rising for a new day, And the birds have all flown upwards, From the basin of cold water. Terra cotta and lime and silver, The colors of the grounds, And within the running turf, Spring new colors every hour. Hyacinth and lilac and lavender, Goldenrod and hazel and claret, Sage and thyme and sea green, Maple and bamboo and fresh laburnum. All the colors in this garden, Where I sit and wait, For the day when the sun will turn, And stay. -
There went her smile agai, lighting up the room. "I don't do one night stands." "Well?" "Given the circumstances...I think it's best if we limit this sort of activity to when we're not ....active in the field." "So when things calm down again..." "We'll see what happens." She smiled at him and placed a hand on his cheek. He held it there with his own hand, feeling her warmth, despite the calluses from working. "You were great." "And you weren't?" She grinned at him once more and Bradley blushed slightly. She stood up and picked her clothes off the floor, pulling them on with her customary grace and speed. "Let's get going.....we're moving out today...right?" "I think so."

At the slight sneer in his voice, Rena's back rippled and she arched it in anger. She rose to all fours, tail lashing, ears pricking upwards, teeth begining to bare themselves. Her claws gouged the stone floor and the High Elder glared at her. She met his gaze with her own yellowing eyes. Filled with rage at his cold arrogance, his treatment of her friend, whom she had fought and bled with. Mourned with. Cried with. He stared at her and she stared back with equal force, unwilling to become unnerved. High Elder: You are insolent. Rena: ...everyone knows what you are. Her smile was mocking, almost, but not quite. Some of the Elders concealed laughter and Ben tried his best not to burst into fits of insane giggles. Crystal, stretching her wings next to Rena, was of the same mind. He was treating them with just the slightest comtempt. Rena twitched her taill, then sat once more. Her barb was thrown out, and would make him lose just a little face and a little of his facade. It was enough for her.

The final farewell, The door closing, The keyhole being sealed, Like the ending to Kingdom Hearts. I go back to my paradise, A princess of heart and an earth angel, And you continue on, Wandering forever with your friend. A kiss farewell, Perhaps on Monday, And my tears have finally dried, But I'm still aching inside. The sand is filling my shoes, And shifting under my feet, And as I reach out my hand to you, The further I drift away. Grasping but not touching, And so empty, So gone, And you say that these chains of mine. Can be broken, Just not by me alone, The key is there but I can't take it, Not without another to love and show me. It's not you, But the key is waiting for me, Someday I'll break lose, Of these masks and bars. All that I keep inside. -
Quite unlike her intial misgivings, she was enjoying herself. To be surrounded by the strangeness of rationality, clear thinking, hardwire, not soft malleable flawed humans, was really quite refreshing. Luyii held her breifcase in her lap quietly, B7104ZA observing her with some interest. She turned her head from the window and offered him her most dazzling smile. It was odd, that she wasn't afraid, but even more odd that she was smiling at him like she was actually enjoying herself. "I'm sorry I'm not as presentable as I should....but... there were...complications." "Such as?" "To tell you the truth, B7104ZA- Smith..." At this point she blushed slightly and looked down at her hands, resting so gently on her breifcase. Was he fantasizing, or did her muscles contract? She looked back at him, eyes half shut with emotion. "My escort tried to kill me. His mission was to deliver my corpse to 01." B7104ZA said nothing and Luyii sat still, looking miserable, then she spoke once more. "My ways of thinking, my sympathy. Very dangerous thoughts. My superior sent me here to die and give you the unspoken message." "That this is what will happen to you in return." "...yes. I was very upset to see what he had written out for me. Rape and death. Ironic?" She looked at him with her unmistakeably human eyes. So dark and thoughtful. Soulful even. Holding great depth, and even a little sadness.

Lies? All Lies? Okay I can deal, But I don't understand. You say that people hurt people, And that I should get over it, But I can't, When it's just me. Like my friend Sonam, Hurt by the people, That were supposed to care, When she didn't do shit. Well that's simple, She needs to deal, But she's the victem, And I'm like the jerk doing it all to her. Fuck me, Mea culpa, Mea maxima culpa, What does it change? Absolutely nothing. -

He heard the news, That I wanted to piss him off, And get my even revenge, But he heard only part of it. If I wanted to really, Really get back at him, I would've done it ages ago, But now that he's brough it up. I can only smile slightly, And defend myself in the face, Of his presumed non-anger, That really is a mask to hid it. Cause I don't take well, To being cheated, And lied to, Like the way he did. And I won't lie back, And let you just walk all over me, Nor will I avenge myself, Because where will it take me? Nowhere I think, And I've been told, That I am right, So I won't bother. Not that I'm lazy, But because I pity you, That you can't be satisfied by one, Much less survive without one for more than two hours.
