Hehe, nice job for a first time, Black_Phoenix. I like the "feel" of the banner as well. Though I do think that you may want to change the color of the text in the upper left hand corner. It is sorta hard to read on the dark background. And also, I think that it would have been a little more professional-looking if you did more of a gradual fade from the Auras to the dark background. It sort of makes them stand out a little too much. ^_^ Though that is a good thing if you intended that. 8.7/10 Nice attempt, nice job.

Anime Somebody's suing Cartoon Network (FLCL related)
OtakuSennen replied to Senor Ding Dong's topic in Otaku Central
Well, that is true that you cannot compare South Park on Comedy Central to Cartoon Network.. However, wherever I have gone, CC is just 4 or 5 channels away from CN.. For some reason, I don't know why. Besides, what is to stop a kiddie from seeing a commercial, saying "I'm bored. Let's see what else is on." And channel surf? Odds are that the kid'll come across SOMETHING bad if it's late at night, whether it be a commercial for an adult film (Not like a MOVIE, but a tape depicting such behavior) or a movie on Spike TV. I've seen more suggestive things on Victoria's Secret commercials on ABC at 9:00 at night than FLCL. I never would have even thought of that popsicle thing representing.. What that lady thinks it means. Haruko's always acting weird like that. It's not out of place. -
Sign Up Ruingarth: Part One- The Eye of Darkus (Big RPG)
OtakuSennen replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Theater
I'm up for it, if I'm allowed in. Name: Esthil Morenwood Age: 243 Race: Elven Weapon: A light, one-handed sword with a small glowing enchanted jewel embedded in the hilt for decoration. (I have to say "enchanted" in an RPG like this somewhere, don't I? ~_^) Outfit: Wears light leather armor under a green cape that shines on the underside when revealed to direct sunlight. Under that is a dark brown shirt which reaches down to under his belt (But isn't a tunic. *squinty eyes* The shirt just goes down rather far.), which is bronze and bears his family's emblem on it. (The emblem is a long dragon wrapped around a tree with daggers in hand) Wears rather tight (But not skin tight) brown pants, which reach down into his worn leather boots which reach up to about his knee. The holder for his sword is on his belt's right side (He's right handed, if that's required info). Magic: 2 starter spells: (He has moderate swordsman skills) --The Wrath of Flames-- His sword is is magically heated so that it feels as if it was just cooling after being forged. It adds an extra nasty touch to the slice of his blade. --Shield of Light-- (It's a metaphorical shield, more like a barrier, but I think shield sounded cooler.) Protects Esthil and those around him from most direct attacks for approximately 3 minutes. Appearance: Short dark brown hair and gray-blue eyes that seem to be rather lively. Occupation: An apprentice to the messenger of the Elven Lord Ilsoriv, his master has recently fallen ill, leaving Esthil to do all of his work for the time being. He also enjoys practicing fencing with others in his spare time. Description: A charming, outgoing young man, (Young for an Elf) who is sometimes so optimistic and cheery that he excruciatingly irritates others without really being aware of it. In the heat of battle, however, he tends to be more quiet. History: Heir of an Elven family with rich heritage, he was sent to work for Alorem Melshire, messenger for his Elven kingdom's lord. Through his travels he has met many various people of various races and cultures, and has learned how to act around certain species when the need arises. He has not heard from his parents in 50 years now, and has pondered over the reason for that in the back of his mind for several months now. However, when his master fell ill, the thoughts came out more, and he has been thinking of little other than this during most of his free time. Likes: Those who respect him for his work. Dislikes: Those who treat him poorly. Style: When he fights he partially acts as if those around watching him are his audience in some sort of performance of his. He is very acrobatic in his maneuvers and speaks in a rather nonchalant manner. Sample: "Ello there. Whatcha up to?" Hopefully you all could understand that, but if you didn't, here's a translation: "Hello there. What are you up to?" ___________ Well, that's about it.. DW said I can add some stuff to my profile before the RPG actually starts if the need arises or if I think of anything new.. I'll be sure to put new stuff in bold or something like that. ^_^ Changes ____________ I pretty much just changed some words around.. I changed Gavynn to DW for length reasons (Heh, I guess you could say length reasons) and took out a few words in my character's description. -
Hm... Dude, I, like, so TOTALLY have an accent from the 90210 state, know what I'm sayin'? Heh.. I don't talk like that intentionally most of the time, however I DO tend to talk like a beach bum once in a while.. Which is weird 'cause I'm nowhere near the beach. But when I went to Pittsburgh not to long ago, I found myself coming back and saying: "Ey, 'ju eet yet? No? Den let's go dahn-tahn an pick op sum chipped ham!" Translation: "Hey, did you eat yet? No? Then let's go downtown and pick up some thinly slice pig meat." However I have gotten that out of my system, and I'm now back to my regular Californian self.

Well, now that the cover's been blown, I suppose I'll use spoiler tags anyhoo to be safe.
Well, considering that the only time we even SEE the real-life Tsukasa in the first episode is in that one scene, that is in fact the only clue we see in that episode. And in all the other flashbacks of Tsukasa's.. Tsukasa is a little kid with no.. Obvious signs of gender difference that's visible. Especially considering that the outfits she typically wore in those scenes were non-gender specific either...
 I live in the future, so here goes.. I would like to become one of two things as an adult: A professor at a college (I think that it would be particularly cool to teach an advanced English class in a Japanese university) or a comic book artist in Japan.. Or better yet, I could do both..! But that would be very, very stressful.. So, em, I'll just have to pick one out of the two. :p I've always wanted a black Scottish Terrier and a gray cat... Named Zeus and Hera, respectively. (Hehe.. I'm clever. *sarcasm*) I would love to get married, of course.. To a rather introverted, intelligent woman whom I could talk to easily.. Hm.. What kind of house would I like to live in? *ponders for a moment* A large Japanese one. ~_~ That one, for those who know me, is a given.

O_o An F-Zero anime? Um.. *cough cough* Yeah. So the people in Japan are gonna make an F-Zero-based anime to sell there, eh? Semjaza's correct, this series is primarily popular in America.. Which makes you wonder, did they put Falcom in F-Zero just because he is on a Nintendo-exclusive franchise and they couldn't think of another character that was as vibrant with the wide array of attacks, or because they planned to sell it in the US in the first place, and he would help get more buyers? Let's keep it at this: If the story mode didn't thrill me that much, (especially 'cause of the voices. Oi vei.) will the anime keep me entertained? -_- That's unlikely..

Actually, heh, um.. At first I really found Asuka Langley Sohryu from Neon Genesis Evangelion (I'm pretty sure I spelled her name right) to be annoying and one of my least favorite anime characters of all time, HOWEVER.. After actually seeing her in action in EVA-02 (And in that plugsuit.. *drools*) I found that she grew on me quickly.. Her skills are almost unsurpassed by the other Eva pilots (Apart from Shinji's at some points in the series) and she does it with style as well... She's outgoing and actually got to Shinji whereas he pushes almost everyone away. Hehe.. That's one little biased view of mine. EDIT: I didn't really clearly write out WHAT Asuka does in the series.. But she pilots Eva-02 and lives with Shinji and Misato. ^_^' There ya go.

*reveals the fact that he is actually a 60-year-old perv* Um.. Yeah. Actually, my parents are rather lenient with these things.. (Did I spell lenient right? -_-) They trust me, plus I have proven to them that I am wise in the way of the internet and reveal my true form (A giant rabid level 50 serpent beast with a Mythril-covered back and twin daggers from Lothlorien) To those friends I have talked to for a decent while and I trust. Even then, I am discreet to revealing the city I live in. Heck, some of my closest OB buddies don't even know my true first name. However, sometimes my father goes into extremist parent mode and says no anime, manga or internet for 2 days for no reason other than the fact that I may become "subject to violence." I respect his willingness to try and protect me, but why not give it a little bit of a logical pattern, eh dad? -_-

Hm.. If my sources are correct, the bonus episodes come with the .hack//GIFT game box set.. Of course, I don't remember where I came across that information or whether or not that was true and proven..
Originally written by Black_Phoenix Try at a Suncoast Video store. They have a great selection of anime in stock. I believe that the first 4 discs are out, but I have no clue when the last two are being released.
Yes, Suncoast is where I tend to see anime most frequently.. However, Best Buy tends to be cheaper most of the time. I bought the first to .hack//SIGN DVDs at Best Buy and both times they were 5 bucks less than at Suncoast. Yeah, the last two discs' release dates have not been announced as of date. But of course, www.dothack.com has that information as soon as it is announced..

Hm... Reminds me of processed meat.. What's it called? Kinda like ham, right? Oh yeah! Spam! Nah, I'm just kidding with you, Gavynn.. However, it confuses me and has no true plot... -_- Well, I guess it's funny enough to get a 8.2/10
Originally posted by Heavyblade Cool I want to be a werewolf! And I like the execution idea that adds a level of severity to the world that it lacked. What did Silver knight do? And the crimson knights were disbanded so they are just regular players now. Or did someone reunite the Crimson Knights?
Yeah, being a werewolf WOULD be pretty cool.. But as far as I've seen, werewolves don't use any weapons and you have to get to about level 50 or so as another class to change to werewolf. ^_^' Yeah, the execution thing is cool indeed. I'm pretty sure that a site I read said that SK was banned for "Several disruptions" or something along those lines.. Maybe Subaru finally put a restraining order on him?
Originally posted by Heavyblade Silver knight got banned execution style? What's that supposed to mean? And how can you be a werewolf in a online RPG?
To give the game another layer of realism, the programmers decided that when they ban someone they execute them in the game.. Most likely with a guillotine. The Werewolf thing.. Ah, yes, puzzled me for a minute, but then Orca explains. In an expansion pack for The World there is the possibility to become a Werewolf instead of another class like Wavemaster or Twinblade, available only to high-level players.
Originally posted by Josh Dose the magna have any of the characters from the game in it?
Yes, actually. Balmung and Mereille (I'm not quite sure if I spelled the second one correctly) are two main characters, along with someone named Orca. However, that Orca is female and a werewolf.. Not at all like Orca looks in the games. Oh, and of course, Rena and Shugo look just like BlackRose and Kite, and Aura has a big role too. Oh, and HeavyBlade, to answer your question: I'm not sure how many characters from SIGN are in DUSK, but I do know that in the second volume Silver Knight (Wait.. Do I have the right person?) gets banned execution-style. Or maybe it was just one of the Crimson Knights in general, but I'm not quite sure. EDIT: Oh, and Josh, it's spelled "Manga". ~_^ Thought you might like to know.

Um.. Let's see... Normally I'm pretty hard to wake up. My alarm which blares probably louder than most clocks go and is the most annoying thing in the world, but I always sleep through it and hear my angry flustered not-morning-people parents rip the cord out of the wall.. -_- But once I do wake up, I'm hyper and ready to go to school.. So that depends on how you define morning person. On ONE hand, I don't wake up easily, but I get REALLY awake when I finally do, though it normally doesn't take long.

ooooOOOOOOOOooooooooh. Me likey. I like how you did the Japanese sound effects.. Yet, sadly, I don't know what most of them say without a guide. -_- I haven't mastered Japanese FX yet. But they're right.. The proportions ARE off. However, the three small panels with their mouths are pretty well-done. E heh heh heh.. Um.. Next time try using some sort of ruler or straight-edge. If you are trying to make the panels kinda scribbly, that's good, but it still helps to have a base straight one. 7.8/10

Hm.. In my personal experiences, anime hasn't really affected my schoolwork much.. I only watch it when I have the time, and schoolwork comes before almost everything else for me. In fact, depsite the fact that I'm running low on my cartoon violence meter, I haven't watched Evangelion or read any violent manga for 2 weeks now. But, like ladyperson 7890, I have been inspired to learn to speak and write Japanese so that I can give my manga I draw a more authentic feel.. And thus far it's turned out pretty well, despite my horrible grammatical errors when speaking it. "THE PARTICLE WORD 'O' SHOWS THAT A TERM IS IN AN INFINITE TENSE?!! WHAT THE @!#$?!?!" Do a little of everything, not do a lot of one thing, Maladjusted. That's just the way I think of things.

I've seen one episode of it... It was funny, I'll give it that, but a familiy member of mine brought up a good point: "So.. This is what's on the network for men? Sorta stupid.. Right?" Japanese game shows like that always ARE sorta... Strange, but how many times can you see a person get injured in some way and still laugh? And I don't find the dubs humorous either.. They just insult the one guy by talking about his... You know... It's an OK show to watch once in a while, but I just don't enjoy watching REAL people get injured and hurt and some Japanese guys with names like "Chet" and "Ken" say sorta stupid perverted stuff. I'm just saying how I feel.. Please don't flame me for stating my thoughts.

Heh.. Spongebob... My 5th grade teacher loved that show, and wore his Spongebob T-shirt on the first and last day of every trimester to show that "HE'S READAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"!! o.o Now that I think about it, he sorta scared me when he talked about Spongebob.. But there are cartoons which humor is at a lower level, some at a more intelligent humor level, and some that vary.. I think Spongebob appeals to adults as well as kids because it sort of has an "oldschool" cartoon appeal to it sometimes.. I mean, the music and gags are often reminiscent of earlier days, when people got his by giant anchors and it was funny... A timeless act, that it is. I, myself, have grown out of Spongebob, and the only American cartoons I still voluntarily watch are Invader Zim, Family Guy, Futurama and The Simpsons. And Animaniacs and Hysteria.. THOSE were great shows.. But it all depends on the person. If they have a playful attitude they can watch American cartoons. If they're very dark folk they can watch depressing violent anime.. Or they can choose to stick to the limits of live-action sitcoms.

Wow, very nice... Did you draw that then scan it in, or is it computer-done, or did someone else draw it in an anime I've never heard of before and you scanned it in? In any one of those cases, that is really cool.. However, out of all of your avas and banners I've seen, I like the panda one most.. But that's just me. 9.2/10
Originally posted by Black_Phoenix I think that in the anime the dog was a male. And they called him/her/whatever Menji (IIRC). Maybe mince is the translation for the dog's name.
Yeah.. I looked at that preview manga from Viz yesterday and it referred to Mince as a "he.." That would make the scene (At least in the manga) when Hyatt is in the bathtub and the dog looks sorta freaked out have more sense. But I read the dog bowl of Mince's in the manga.. I knew enough Katakana to know it was written as "Minsu" (?~???X for those of you who have the Japanese alphabet on your computers), so that must mean that ADV changed the name some.. I'm guessing.

Ah, Excel Saga.. A wise choice of manga for Viz to translate and ADV to dub.. Great series, a pseudo-recognizable plot and enough drama behind the doggy Mince to keep me buying the manga.. I would buy the anime, but it's just so much more expensive, ya know?.. I liked the first volume (Up until the Christmas episode) so much.. I read it at least 20 times over when I was in Pittsburgh a week ago. Then I bought the second volume with a gift card.. It wasn't as weird-funny as the previous one, but it was interesting to see
Excel and Hyatt's neighbors joining the opposing world domination crew which secretly kind of rivals ACROSS
.. It was more of a plot-enriching set of episode for me, and not so much plotless weirdness. Poor Mince.. She (I could have sworn the preview chapter that Viz put out at anime cons this summer said Mince was a guy) was taken in by those jail peoples.. And they all quite possibly fried..

Yes, Japanese school uniforms are based on European Sailor and Army suits.. Well, loosely. *looks at a girl's uniform* Erm.. Tightly. X.X It seems, for whatever reason, people in Japan are less.. Censored, and nudity and such is not such a big taboo to them.. It's just the way they are, y'know? I, for one, am not complaining. :p However, I wonder if there are over-protective parents like that in Japan.. Or it's as common in Japan as fast food is here in the US...
