Name: Pam Age: 47 Height 5'4" - 5'5" ish Hair color She was born with blonde hair, but is a much darker blonde now, so she lightens it. Eye color: Green My mom worked at Honeywell in Arizona before, and during her pregnancy with me. After I was born, then my brother was born two years later. I think she worked in between that time, but she always spent time with us. I was always really close to her when I was younger, and I still am. One summer she stayed home and babysat us and a few of our friends as a job. I was about 8 at the time. I remember it so well. Top Raman, tomato soup, grilled cheese. Classics. When we moved here she worked at another Honeywell near us, and she would come home for lunch during the summer, sometimes take us to work with her. We had no air conditioning(still don't in this house either), and it was death, so going there was like being in a refridgerator! She used to smoke but quite over three years ago; her and my dad both. Cold turkey. When I was sixteen she went back to school to get into the medical field after being layed off at Honeywell. She completed that and has worked at a few rehab clinics for people who have suffered from heart attacks, strokes, etc. Yeah anyway, her and my dad devorced four years ago I believe, so she lived in apartment close by. When I got the job I am still currently working at she would come over in the morning after my dad left for work(he knew of course), and we would basically hang out. I got a job and she was layed off at hers, in the same month. We would go to the park, exercise, maybe watch a movie if we had time, talk alot. We became even closer in this time. I was saving for a car, so she decided to stay on unemployment and take me back and forth to work untill I had enough money. I didn't leave for work untill noon so we had hours. I saved up $4,000 for a car, and when I found it she lent me an extra thousand. She eventually moved, an hour away. The distance really sucks, but she has always loved the country, and she had been looking for months for something closer, with a good price to no avail. She's had a few jobs since she moved there but she hasn't had much luck sticking to one place because they'll get slow and lacking in work and have to let her go. So she is currently looking for another job and drives here once a week, and hangs out with me before I go to work. I'll drive there too, but during the week I can't. Shes always been there for me and has always been my friend. She is the one who got me into working out, and I got my love of drawing from her. We swap exercise ideas and joke around alot. She has a really crazy since of humor. She'll randomlly bark at the cats, or blurt out white out. Inside joke. So yeah, I think I wrote way too much.
I concur with Gavin on all points presented. Yes, many martial artists don't have a grasp on actual combat. The ones that do are the ones that fight and spar often. Even then, in a situation with no rules, you gotta change your game and adapt. No amount of sparring and bag hitting is going to fix the fact that a striker doesn't know how to stop a grappler or a grappler doesn't know how to stop a good striker. Which is why I cross train with Jujutsu and Hap-Ki-Do in my Tae Kwon Do school. Even then, you must practice in realistic situations to know how well you would fair in a fight. You won't know just how much a chance you stand in the streets until you take a few fists and feet to the jaw, or get dropped to the floor for a little grappling. Me and my friends in the class go to the Do Jang after hours often and have harder rounds of sparring where legs kicks and take downs are go. Once on the ground, we can mount and feign face punches or go for some Jujutsu. Best practice for martial arts in real life. Also on the grounds of kicking, I agree. Yeah, against a skilled fighter, a mediocre martial artist might get a kick grabbed (again, I study grappling just in this case. Grab my leg, and you get a flying elbow directly after in the face). But a person such as myself, who kicks more than he punches and knows how, can prevent that sort of thing from happening. I've never had a kick grabbed because I know how to gauge an opponent at a certain level. I'm not saying it can't happen, because I know it could (with a guy who can take a good hit to the ribs) but it hasn't in a very very long time. When it comes down to it, fighting is left to just how well an individual knows how to fight. An experienced street fighter could definetly beat a martial artist who's never been in a real fight. But a good martial artist could more than likely beat about any opponent off the street. Remember, if your fighting some dude who doesn't know you, then he's not going to expect that reverse downward axe kick. Oh, and Farto, yeah we kinda do learn more amazing moves as we go on. A yellow belt isn't going to grasp that 540 Turning Kick that a black belt is trying to perfect. Also, as we become more experienced, we're proned to look into other martial arts for moves. Like, me, I've begun incorparating Muay Thai elbow strikes, knee thrusts, and the famous Thai Clench into my free-form style (because I can't use said techniques in regulated sparring matches with TKD). Also, not all martial arts schools are equal. Example, I went to my first tournament as a red belt and it soon dawned on me that I could easily defeat the majority of the black belts at the school who hosted the tournament. The funniest thing was, that each of them boasted about how they have "amazing defense" or "unpredicatable kicks" and yet none of them sparred and their form techniques were awful and lazy. After taking first place in both my divisions sparring and forms rounds, one of them came to me and said "You don't need to go all out like that... it's not good." Here I am, holding two first place trophies and wondering to myself "That must be why you don't have these...". I was taught to put 100% into whatever I was doing. Granted I was fighting lower belts, these guys where several years older than me one a college student and the other a U.S. Marine. So please don't generalize all martial arts schools from one. A commercial school with hundreds of students may seem appealing and 'the best that can be offered' but the school I attend is behind a grocery store and beside a small church. It has about fifteen adult-level students, and yet it's the best martial arts school I've seen in my state thus far.
So true. I take martial arts aswell. Taekwondo, and combat class. The combat class is a mixture of kick boxing, grappling, & Muy Tai. My school doesn't look very big atall, though the amount of students is growing. My instructor is a strong believer in giving all of his students knowledge in every area for real life aswell as tradition when it comes to fighting. Thats up to the student though. We have been getting alot of students in our school lately from other TKD school and staying. Most other schools around us don't teach their students to the full potential, somewhat like your were saying Boss. There are some schools who will sell you a black belt...which totally defeats the whole purpose. Martial arts is learning and growing strong, becoming better. I know of one in particular who does this. The man who owns it used to go to my school, I actually remember him from when I started. He said he wanted to open his own school and become an instructor, but was told he wasn't ready yet. He did it anyway. Therefore, his black belt was taken away, and he is no longer under the master and grand master. There is actually alot more to this however. Anyway, he does terrible things in his school that we hear of from people who left and came to ours. He's slept with various mother's within his school, and handed out black belts, among other things. You really need to research if you ever think of taking up a martial art. Anyway, I've been in alot of fights before starting martial arts. When I was little, ten years old and younger, I used to beat up my brother's friends. Mainly a select few really. I always loved to fight. When we moved I still enjoyed fighting with his friends. I pretty much always made friends with his friends because I liked to fight them. I threw one into the couch which gave him a nasty gash. o_O I got my share though. Of course now I don't do that now. I still make guy friends easily though. I always found it funny that I'm the one who enjoys working out, and trying to get stronger, and fight, when I'm the girl, and my brother has absolutely no intrest. As for seeing fights, I've seen plenty in movies but in real life, aside from those when I was younger, not so much. I do remember a few in high school, kind of. Though there was this one when I was in tenth grade. I was walking to class and out of no where these two girls flew out of a classroom. Make up and shoes were flying, literally. I almost got hit by a shoe. It wasn't much, mainly pulling of hair and things flying accross the floor.

Oh Hitto, its been awhile since I've seen any of your work, what a treat. Anyhoo, I like what you have so far. He would be cool as a little comic character or something. Although I don't know about the chest, it looks like 'man boobs'. o_O

My week consists of work and my one class at college. Other than that, my hobbies are doing Taekwondo(and thats a huge part of my life), working out, playing video games, drawing(when I have time, I don't do it nearly as much as I used to sadly). I really don't watch as much anime as I used to either, not that I don't like it, its just when I do have free time I usually get on the computer or work out. I'll hang out with friends whenever, but honestly I enjoy haning out with my brother more. Besides, since I'm not in high school anymore, and I'm not at college long enough to really meet people, I don't interact with anyone new. I do socialize more at church, but not really with people my age usually. I enjoy it though. I do have this new fascination that I've gotten into recently, or atleast in the last few months. Its Genesis and the Middle East and the ties between Christianty and other religions, and the war. Its all very interesting to me.

Art Just A Random Question To All You Artists Out There
SaiyanPrincessX replied to a topic in Creative Works
Well I got my love for drawing from my mom. She liked to draw when she was younger. I always loved to color and draw when I was little but I didn't really try to improve untill fifth grade, when I started watching DragonBall Z. So my inspiration came fom anime early on. I agree, its so strange/fun to compare my art to my art then. I've improved so much since then. -
2006 was a good year for me. I got my driver license(three years late), and bought myself a car. I've become closer to some family, yet kind of became more distant to friends. I've learned alot more about myself and I've been trying to think alot about my future. I pray that in 2007 I'll figure out what I want to do with my life. I'm getting older now and I still contemplate joining the air force, strongly, but I am still not sure. My little brother graduates from high school in 2007 as well. I really hope he can get passing grades though, otherwise he'll have to go to summer school again. He has been having alot of trouble in his classes. I am also thinking about taking a trip to Japan in July, but nothing is final. I hope I can save the money I need and finally be able to do it. I've been wanting to visit Japan for years. I also pray that I can focus really hard on all my requirments I need for my black belt test which should occur around august/september-ish. Its 10:49 PM right now, so I've still got some time untill next year. Good luck to everyone in all their endeavours for the new year! Happy New Year! ^_^

I don't do either. I never could understand why people enjoy getting drunk. I've had alcohol before, and I just can't stand the taste. People at work ask me if I'm going to go party and get 'wasted'(I hate that term) on friday, or whatever. I say I don't drink, and they tell me I'm no fun. I'm sorry, I can have fun in other ways that don't include drinking. o_O Aside from my issues with it, as long as someone is of age, and knows how to control it, then other people drinking doesn't really bother me. As for drugs, I haven't tryed them and I don't plan too.

I absolutely love Christmas music. I have alot of favorites, but I'll only mention several. One would be the classic, Silent Night. I have alot of memories of my mom singing this to my brother and I when we were little. So its very soothing. Another would be Little Drummer Boy. My dad would sing this to us when we were younger. Both songs have alot of sentimental value for me, not to mention the meaning of them. A few other songs I thougroughly enjoy are "Emmanuel" by Amy Grant, and "Mary Did You Know". Both songs are beautiful, but as I've mentioned, there are many more. On a little side note here, Merry Christmas!

Wow, after 7 years, Otakuboards is still here
SaiyanPrincessX replied to G/S/B Master's topic in General Discussion
I remember you. I'm an OB vetran I guess you could say. I've been here since 2001.You were very young if you're thirteen now; I don't think I ever knew that. I started coming to OB when I was fourteen, now I'm old, heh. :animeswea Its always fun to see old members come back and post, I hope you stay around. I myself don't actually post much. I used to visit the Lounge, and art most, however I never seem to get any replies on my artwork anymore so I don't post much of it. Theres also the lack of time. But, as you can see, I still lurk around. ^_^ The Otaku Boards will live on forever! ..Or at least untill it meets its demise, hopefully not for many more years to come. -
What You Want For Christmas THIS YEAR
SaiyanPrincessX replied to DeadSeraphim's topic in General Discussion
I'm only asking for a digital camera and a panoramic poster of Egypt I found online. The digital camera is expensive enough, which is why I'm only asking for those two things. I am planning on taking a trip to Japan in August, and having a digital camera would be great for that. I've been wanting one for years though anyhow, and we do need a new camera. My brother is more familiar with the good and bad, he's been doing some researching on them for me so I trust him with that. I already have a panoramic poster of Japan, now I need Egypt. I'm fascinated by both, so it would be a nice little addition to my room. I recently bought myself a black Nintendo DS lite(and Animal Crossing), and I'm constently feeling guilty about this purchase. I'm trying to save for Japan, and with car insurance, school, TKD payment, and the DS, I've spent $400 in one month. Thats not including Christmas coming up either. XD I guess the DS could be considered an early Christmas present to myself. :animesigh -
Wow, I'm actually posting a thread. Its been ages, I miss the days when I could be here everyday, and I knew almost everyone. Anyway, I don't usually have as much time as I used to to draw, so its a treat when I do. I did happen to have time the other night and I went crazy, heh. Sketch - I redrew it based on my original. I can't believe Thanksgiving is only a week away. It was never a favorite holiday as a kid. I always considered it that annoying holiday in between Halloween and Christmas, lol. I could never remember the word "Thanksgiving" either, so I would say "Turkey Day". Anyway, I've grown out of that. I enjoy Thanksgiving now because I like spending time with family. I love food and hate food, so I'm looking forward to it yet dreading it. My Thanksgiving has been pretty much the same for the last few years. Its my dad, and I, and we invite my dad's sister, who we only see on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, for the most part. He may try to invite a few people from church, but I'm sure they have their family gatherings to attend. Although this year will be slightly diffrent. My mom moved an hour away, so the day after Thanksgiving "black friday", I'll be driving to my mom's for some home made tostadas. Lol! We love Mexican food, and since we're having turkey and all the traditional Thanksgiving dishes at my dad's, we'll be having that over there, along with a few diffrent pies. I'm thankful for God, my family, and friends, and all the wonderful times I've been blessed with.

The last movie I went to see was The Departed. I hated it. I've never liked movies, television, with such immense swearing. The last dvd I watched was Click. This I did like. It was good, and funny. Much better than I'd expected, but it still could have been better. I've notice a lack of quality to the movies that have been coming out lately. :/

Being with family, being out door in the sunshine, or at church. I feel more cheerful and happy. I'd pick my family over friends any day, because I'm so close to them. I love spring, listening to the birds, and the warm air, its the best.

I got my drivers license four years later than I should have, then saved and bought myself a car in July, for $5,000. It took months of searching for a good, low mileage car. I have a white Grand Am SE, four door. Its a good car. Anyway, congratulations on yours.

Oh my yes, how I so miss those days where I could sit in front of the tv and fry brain cells with such awesome cartoons, which pretty much don't exist anymore, sadly. - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Darkwing Duck - Tale Spin - Sonic the Hedgehog - The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog - Winnie the Pooh - Bonkers - Duck Tales - Earthworm Jim - Ren and Stimpy - Tom and Jerry - The Jetsons - The Flintstones - Looney Tunes - Tiny Toons - Freakazoid - Animaniacs - Ace Ventura: Pet Detective - The Mask(there was a cartoon) - The Simpsons - Mighty Ducks - Bruno the Kid - Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers - Garfield and Friends - Eek! the Cat - The New Adventures of Jonny Quest - Pink Panther - Popeye - Ghost Busters - Quake Pack(I remember when this cartoon first started, at 4pm on weekdays, heh) - The Addams Family - Bobby's World - Inspector Gadget - Alvin and the Chipmunks - Camp Candy - Beetlejuice - The California Raisins - Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa - Aladdin - Goof Troop - Taz-Mania Then there were the somewhat newer ones when I was growing up, like Rugrats, Doug, Rockos Modern Life, Angry Beavers, CatDog. Anime, when I was younger. Dragonball Z, and Gundam Wing. Those were the only good ones on when I started watching, unless you counted Sailor Moon, but I never liked it. Theres so much more I remember, but I think I needed a cut off point. :animeswea

What's your geekiest purchase?
SaiyanPrincessX replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
I've had many geeky purchases. Most of my OBers know of the obsession I had with Matrix for awhile there, which produced many trips to the store for goodies, or oogling over them online. I have way too much Matrix merchandise, which includes..four posters, all dvds, then the Matrix dvd box set, two busts, all soundtracks, 6 action figures, and I actually kept any magizine that had anthing to do with Matrix, even if the article was one paragraph long. My whole room if still Matrix actually, too lazy to change. I had an obsession with the Mummy movies for awhile there too, so of course I have both posters, both of VHS & DVD, & soundtracks. As for anime, I got into it with DBZ so I was obsessed with that as a kid. A mini DragonBall Z skateboard, all the little action figures(they were sold in a set of 6 or something, with several diffrent packs), around five other DBZ action figures of normal size, a little Goku and Piccolo from DragonBall my friend got me on her trip to Japan, various other anime action figures. I have a throw pillow with Trunks on one side and Goku on the other. Random DBZ VHS tapes, along with some dvds, twelve DragonBall Z shirts, which I don't wear except to bed. Other random anime shirts. I also bought the binary blanket and pillow from thinkgeek.com, and the Mega Tokyo message bag, which I don't use anymore. I bought a panoramic poster of Japan aswell, which is hanging on my wall at my mom's. These are things that I have accumulated over the last nine years, and I haven't actually bought anything "geekish" in a very long time. Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, I have made a somewhat geeky purchase recently. I bought a hoody with a silhouetted girl kicking in front of the korean flag(Taekwondo), and a shirt with the Arizona flag on it. ^_^; -
I don't know about this. I loved the turtles back in the day, not the new show. I can't stand the new one. The cg, for me doesn't really work for the turtles. Its to crisp and clean I guess, which is the feel the newer tv show gives me. However, I'll see it anyway.

I go to the community college, for two classes, and work in a warehouse. I work monday thru friday, from noon to 5:30pm, $8.50/hr. Great hours and pay for now. I was offered full time recently, but I had to turn it down since I started school. They were about a month late.

My dad owns his own machine shop. Him and his friend started it about four years ago or so, but they had some disagreements and whatnot, so not he is the only one working there. My parents are devorced also, so this means he has to work even harder to pay the bills. He gets up at 5ish during the week, and gets home whenever, depending on how much work he has to do for costumers. Sometimes he'll get home around 7pm, or midnight, or 3am. Then back to work just a few hours later. I worry about him. We don't have health insurance or anything either. He will never be able to retire, and I don't know if his shop will ever speed up. My brother and I will help him out occationally, but I have work and classes, and my brother is still in high school, so we don't have time to help out too much. However, me being able to drive helps out if my brother needs to get somewhere or something, so my dad won't have to do it so much. As for my mom, who lives an hour away, she works at a rehab facility for older people you have had strokes or whatnot and need rehab; physical therapy type things. She currently works part time, because its a new job. She was laid off last October, from the same type of job. Her and I are real close.

I just celebrated my birthday last friday, and my brother's the sunday before that. ^_^ My birthday was usually always cake, ice cream, candles, presents. Yeah, the traditional, and it was always fun. My mom always made the cake, never bought it(except an ice cream cake a few diffrent times). Store bought cakes look fancy, but all taste like lard. Sometimes we would get pizza or something, and of course have friends over. I remember most of my birthdays well. Its been pretty much the same even up to now, with occational changes. :p I remember one year, I think I was four or five, a friend of my mom dressed up as a lion, and I was terrified. We have it on video, its funny watching it; I looked like I was going to cry. One year I had a tea party.. I can't think of my 'real' exciting ones though. Birthday's were so much more fun when you're younger, I really miss that. Not to say they arn't now, but its not the same. The awe and excitement isn't quite there anymore. My recent birthday was with my dad and brother. Dad made speghetti. Someone I work with bought me a cassata cake, with 'Happy Birthday Becky' on it, from some really good bakery. Yeah, well it was like any bought cake, disgusting. So we had a little piece of it, then my brother and I literally destroyed it. Lol! It was mush wen we were done. Luckily my dad had some ice cream in the freezer so we had a little of that to make up for it. Then I opened presents, floor mats for my car, legos(airplane), yeah I asked for legos; and Gex 3 for N64. I also ordered two things online as part of my gift. I ordered them on the 9th, and they just shipped it today. o_O Cafe Press sucks. Saturday my brother and I drove to my mom's to celebrate our birthday there. My grandma was visiting too, her birthday was the 19th. She made pumpkin pie, so that was my 'cake' over there. I prefer pie over cake anyway. So that was my fun filled birthday. :p

What's in your car, purse or wallet
SaiyanPrincessX replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
My car is in need of a serious wash..and the inside needs vacuumed aswell. XD I never have the time though. Anyhoo, I really don't have that much stuff in my car. About $7 for emergencies, my registration, two umbrellas, some random video game cds that I'll listen too because I'm a dork, some body spray, a little air freshner thing thats more like popouri, some change, fitness gloves, and a giant frisbee in the trunk. I think that about covers it. As for my purse: Beast wallet, a little money, vaseline(I use as chapstick), gum, mini brush, a watch, some papers folded, pen and pencil, & other random objects that I can't remember. Wallet: Drivers license, debit card, card for Asian Feast, some money, too many reciepts from debit card, a little drawing my friend did of a monster back in twelve grade. Probebly more. -
I couldn't believe it when I heard it. He seemed invincible. For some reason this really got to me too. I think maybe because he seemed like a real genuinely caring person, with passion for all wild life. Of course I didn't actually think about it untill I heard of his death. So in tribute to him and all he has done, here is a little piece I wipped up. Tribute God Bless him and his family.

I have a younger brother, he's seventeen. Born five days before my 2nd birthday. Him and I have always gotten along pretty well. When we were younger we'd get into our own little battles here and there. He was famous for being annoying, poking and whatnot. However, since I've a lways been a tomboy we'd usually do alot together. Rideng bikes, playing cars, legos, video games. I'd beat up his friends alot too, so maybe thats where my frustration would go.

Sequel of the Century! Pirates of the Caribbean 2!
SaiyanPrincessX replied to The_Mix_Breed's topic in Noosphere
I've been looking forward to this movie for months, and I finally saw it. I agree with Bláse, I too was a little dissappointed. It just didn't really live up to the first one for me. The cast was great, don't get me wrong. I love Jack, his unique personality is what makes the movie so great. Along with the awesome dialog and costumes of course.
However, the whole Davey Jones fish face crew kind of got on my nerves. I think there were too many special affects to where it kind of got rediculous.
Of course I do reccommend seeing it, for it is Jack Sparrow. But I don't think I'll be seeing it a second time in theaters. Regardless of my quirks with it, wallpapers and whatnot will still ensue. ^_^
