I kinda side with Sankaku Complex in that fansubs actually and see the whole thing as a necessary evil. The best effect by them is that they allow a look at some anime that hasn't been released yet and it builds up demand. I know that I'm not innocent of watching some fansubs as I checked out the Deltora Quest anime a little while after it was released in Japan. Of course, this led me to checking out the official product when it received its Australian release. So long as the downloaders support the official product and check out the translated release than I have no problems. Of course, that's asking a lot of some people out there on the internet.

Shamelessly plugging my newest LP? Say it ain't so. http://realwrestlecrap.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=forumgames&action=display&thread=330123&page=1 Yeah, Quartz really tests my patience as a gamer and as someone who enjoys reading and writing. Creepy monster design, poor translations of dialogue and some downright idiotic stuff. Summoning a chaos god pokemon (I'm unclear if it's actually happening in the story or I've got Warhammer 40K on the brain) using a dragon bone so that they can inflate the sun so Electric pokemon can become more powerful. It's so stupid that it's painful.

What do you do when the internet is not working?
PWNED replied to CaNz's topic in General Discussion
I generally have a number of games that I play or I listen to my iPod. My wireless is incredibly unreliable at night and the signal is generally at half strength or worse after midnight. Suffice to say, I get a lot of gaming done during these hours when I'm awake. -
PWNED rides again! Been a fair time since I was on.

Because for some reason the thread isn't letting me edit my post, I'll just post something extra. We all meet up at the studio that is being used as our gathering point.

Nicholas flopped into bed, exhausted from a long day investigating and later fleeing from a mob of Yara-ma-yha-who. He found it somewhat strange that something oddly adorable could be such a horrible critter. He gingerly rubbed the side of his arm where one of them had latched on a drained a bit of his blood and winced as he bandaged it. "Creepy little bastards" he muttered as he began to scroll through the photographs that he had taken. He really could have used the others coming with him but he was forced to head to Darwin on his own. Thankfully, magical creatures were everywhere and were willing to help if you could help them. He'd racked up a long list of favors that needed to be paid back that he knew would eventually catch up with him. As he laid back in bed, Nicholas' mind wandered back to when this all started happening to him. He was only 9 years old and had gotten lost in the woods. It seemed like he would die when a black horse appeared and led him back to his home. He found this to be an odd occurrence but somehow it actually spoke to him. He didn't remember anything else after this but his parents found him on their doorstep with a black dog sleeping next to him. What struck him were the extraordinary golden eyes that each of them had possessed, a trait that he later found out belonged to a PĂșca. Since then, he'd possessed enormous sensitivity to supernatural beings and eventually carved out a name for himself as a 'photojournalist' and the eventual formation of his group. Grumbling to himself he let himself fall asleep, feeling quite fed up with the world of the supernatural for one day.
is this starting then?
Yep, I should be starting it up soon. I've been sick lately and just not thinking straight but it will be fine now.
-
PS do you need us to put how we meet the other characters, or will you be putting that together? Yeah, that would be nice but not nessecary. If you want to do so then feel free but I prefer finding out about connections during the story.

Wow, Gamefreak really seem to be pushing the graphics threshold for the DS.
-
I'm liking everyones characters, I hope to post the thread soon.

Looking good so far, I hope to get started in the next couple of days although getting one or two more people in before we start would be ideal.
Ok, OB. I am having a hard time deciding what I want to get. Final Fantasy XII Suikoden 5 Zelda: Twilight Princess (Gamecube) Those are the games I'm having a hard time deciding between. One hand I'm leaning towards FFXII because it's the cheapest of the three. (I'd be able to get another game with it) On the other, Suikoden 5 and TP are games I really want to try out. Yeah, I'm stuck here. Hardest choice I've ever had to make when it comes to games.
If you ask me, FF 12 was rather dull. Suikoden 5 is pretty awesome and worth the money, I'd rank it in my top ten RPG's of all time. It starts off slowly but once it picks up the pace it has a very interesting storyline. I can't speak for Twilight Princess as I haven't played it yet.

I'd never shamelessly plug the two Pokemon Let's Plays that I've done/ working on over on the Wrestlecrap forums. Because that would be completley against what I'm like. Ah screw it. Name: Nicholas "Nicky" McNamara Age: 25 Gender: Male Appearance: Click Here Talents: Nicholas' main talent is that, by his own reckoning, he is very savvy to things such as folklore and the paranormal. He also possesses a keen eye for smaller details that others would pass over. Character Background: Nicholas' background is essentially what any other Irishman has... besides the fact that he has been witness to paranormal phenomena from a young age, in addition to his studies as a Journalist, led him to becoming a paranormal journalist which he has been doing ever since. Over the years he has seen a lot although he seems to embellish a fair chunk of his experiences. His main focus in life is to confirm the existence of the Golem of Prague Personality: Very self-centered and arrogant, Nicholas lives for only one person... himself. He does have a light side though, he is willing to help others as long as he doesn't end up in any form of trouble. Equipment: Nicholas carries around the standard equipment for an investigator; His regular gear include a Flash camera, various notepads and pens as well as a pair of binoculars. His final piece of equipment is a bizarre set of glasses. These allow him to see something for what it is (ie: some supernatural being disguised as a human).

OOC: Trying my idea for Journal of the Unseen as I quite liked the idea but it just kinda flopped. How would you react if I told you that there are certain beings that exist outside of what we mere mortals consider to be normal? I would imagine that you would be frightened or dismiss such a thing as merely fantasy. I wouldn't blame you at all though, we refuse to acknowledge what we consider to be abnormal as it would conflict with the way we perceive the world. But what would happen if our perception of reality began to crack? My name is Nicholas McNamara and I study the paranormal for a living. I'm a freelance photojournalist, mostly just selling scoops and photographs to the interested parties for pretty much minimal profit. But something strange is happening with the unseen phenomena, the barriers between our world and theirs have shattered leading to an unmanageable number of beasties pouring into our world and making it their personal playground. Armed with my camera and my knowledge of all that goes bump in the night, It has become my mission to find the cause to the breaches and to find a way to mend the barriers . At my side I have a group of like minded individuals who are themselves connected to the unseen. A storm is brewing amongst the Unseen and we aim to discover the cause. Name: Lachlan Collier Mutant Name: Wrath Age: 28 Character Appearance: http://i4.tinypic.com/8gf1t92.jpg Mutant Ability: Wrath, having been trained for the intention of replacing War as a Horseman, possesses superhuman strength, levels of resilience and stamina. His resilience and stamina are apparently not natural powers. He had been genetically altered in Apocalypses Infinity factories. The upward limit of his strength is unknown yet but he can lift a medium sized car with not too much difficulty. Bio: Lachlan never really knew anything outside of what he was bred for. From what he has been able to piece together so far, he was born in a little human hamlet and was orphaned during one of the usual searches for anyone with a useful latent mutation. He was then taken to the Citadel, the stronghold of Apocayplse where he was essentially brainwashed and made a loyal subject. During Apocaypses fall, Lachlan was taken away during the night and was freed from his loyalty to the tyrant. He has since become a drifter and has fought to survive. He is also trying to piece together anything from his past by seeking out powerful telepaths that can assist by piecing together his fractured memories. Personality: Lachlan is a suprisingly well balanced individual and has a tendency to fake stupidity in order to fall beneath the radar. He does keep his issues bottled up inside which leaves him very reserved. Character Snippet: It was rather carthatic, returning to these labs. Lachlan didn't know if the equipment would still be working, he actually considered it a miracle that the complex was still standing. His memory of the complex was a spot scrappy; He remembered the cloning tanks where they bred the Infinites, the operating table where his genetics were modified but there was still a face that eluded him. That was the reason why Lachlan had come, so that he could find the identity of the man. At last success, he had located a functional terminal with access to the mainframe. Lachlans mind was was racing as he scanned through what remained of the database, it seemed like the remaining scientists has attempted to destroy the mainframe in an attempt to prevent the Herald from obtaining details of the experiments. "Dammit" Lachlan screamed as he slammed his fists onto the desk. He was so close to finding anything useful out. "Why can't I find anything?" He muttered to himself as he pondered his options. Apocalypses citadel still stood but travel there would be difficult, not to mention the fact that there was no doubt in his mind that The Herald would have taken control of it long ago. Until he found out though, he only had a name to go on. That name was Sinister.
I'm going to post a sign-up, though I'll have to in a lil bit. One question though...what if I think Aquaman Rules?!
Wasn't expected that possibility. I suppose I'll let it slide. :animesmil

OOC: I liked the concept of this too much but it never got off the ground, ipso facto I'm trying it again. Journal Update- 17/03/08 I'm sure that all of the world has heard of those damn SuperFriends... Bloody good guys saving the world from villians like Grodd. Seriously, Grodd is a damn talking Gorilla whose powers were that he could talk. I don't know about anyone else out there but they set the bar low there although they do have Aquaman and Hawkman as members. God damn, They were quite possibly the stupidest crap that ever crapped itself. You know, because they sucked. So I bet some mates of mine while we were watching a news report on them last night that I could create a kickass superhero team within a week. Trouble was, I don't know any damn heroes or even have powers. Not to mention that I was drunk as hell and bet 5000 dollars that I didn't have. I've got some real trouble here... The following message was found posted around various forums on the internet. Are you the next Super Hero? Do you think that you can surpass Superman in all of his Spandex wearing glory? Do you enjoy beating up people because you think they are supervillians? If so then email the following form to this address Superass@hotmail.com and let us decide Your Superhero name- Your secret identity- Your known identity- Your powers- Your background- Why you think Aquaman sucks- Your Archnemesis- Your Personality- Please include an attached image of yourself for... public relations reasons. OOC: This RPG is a parody of the Super Friends so as such it will be a comedy. With the whole trying to find superheros through the internet, this means that your character will have pathetic powers.

James made his way carefully thorough the shopping district as he sought any necessary supplies. He hadn't had a chance to stop moving for the past hour and it was having a seriously bad impact on his fatigue levels, having barely been able to fight off the last attacker. Worst of all was that he'd lost his keys somewhere in the hospital and lacked a way to escape from this damn city. "I swear, I had to come out here for that story" James muttered to himself as he nudged open the door of a shop and peeked inside. It seemed empty but the contents of the shop were what interested him. It was a store that specialised in camping and gardening equipment but there was an interesting pile of equipment that would be useful. "This is what I'm talking about... the big guns" He spoke triumphantly as he pulled a large shovel off of the rack. His arms might have been aching from the swinging of the lead pipe he had been using as a weapon but he would have at least a chance. HE could hear a couple of zombies moaning in the area, he guessed he could at least use this chance to rest and recenter himself. James needed all he could in order to survive.
-
His footsteps thudded dully against the linoleum, the echoes of the moaning... things seemingly following him wherever he went. James had a nigh death grip on his two cameras, there was no way that he would miss out on something like this. He had been there when these things began walking out of the underground morgue and had seen a woman torn apart and eaten. "What the hell have I gotten myself into?" He thought to himself as he ran up to the third floor and locked the door behind him. Of course, there was the one line of thought running through his head. He needed to get himself the hell out of there, find some kind of weapon and just get away. His line of thought was shattered when he saw a gurney falling outside, taking down a construction worker with it. "Holy hell" He muttered to himself as the loud crash echoed in his ears. He was trying to think of a conceivable escape route when he realized that something had caught his eye when he had arrived. "The Fire Escape!" James yelled triumphantly as he was rummaging through the desk in the office. He had learnt from a friend that anything even remotely interesting was worth bringing along. Unfortunately all he found were a couple of books, a few folders and a box of bullets for some bizarre reason. *Just a slight take of mine on the games* He found himself running again; Oh boy was he going to grow sick of this soon. Luckily for James, the zombies on the ground floor had been unable to make much headway up the stairs and so he had received minimal resistance on his way to the fire escape. He could still hear screaming and crying all around him, could hear the doomed patients making peace with their gods as the moaning grew closer. "I have to be crazy... there is no sane explanation behind this happening" James whispered to himself.

Name:James Cornell Age: 33 Occupation: Photographer Starting point: East Ridge Hospital Infection status: - Bio: Growing up in Chicago, James Cornell had been lucky enough to show an aptitude in his media and English classes growing up. Taking advantage of these natural talents, James began studying to become a Photo-Journalist. This turned out to not work for him due to a lack of work ethic and he is now merely a struggling independent photographer looking for a scoop. This big scoop came when the news of the S.T.A.R.S botch at the mansion on the outskirts of town. Realizing that he could gain shots and footage before any of the large networks James set off to Raccoon City to gain the footage that would make him a star. Oh how cruel fate can be... After he gained his material from Police Chief Irons, James overheard a report in the police station about a number of sick individuals turning up at the hospital. Feeling that at this point in his career, any news was good news, he got quickly to the hospital and began his work. And then everything went crazy

My scariest is probably Forbidden Siren on the PS2 (or just plain Siren if you are American), I can honestly say that it was the most atmospheric horror game I've ever played.
