Currently alternating tearing it up as Darth Vader and his apprentice; Starkiller with sudden occasional onslaughts of Kilik and Yun-seong on Soul Calibur 4.

I guess standbys like Sonic and King of Fighters are always on everyones lists so I'm not worried about them so instead I'll focus on games that have come out in recent years. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Basically replace old-as-dirt Indiana Jones with an awesome young protagonist, add in lots of gunplay, and plenty of ledge climbing like in Tomb Raider and you pretty much have a recipe for success. The story, while not AMAZING, was engaging enough because of the character interactions and facial animations which blew me away. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. See, I'm a sucker for free-roaming, sandbox style games so this instantly makes my list of favorite games because while I also loved Morrowind this one was all of that and more plus better. Turok. There is nothing more satisfying than hunting high-tech soldiers with a high-tech compound bow and taking on a pack of raptors with your knife. Yeah, sure, the game isn't really all that amazing compared to other FPS but it's a very serviceable shooter and it's Turok, so it has that going for it. Metal Gear Solid 4. Best in the series, easily. Imagine, for instance, that feeling when you first found out that Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker's father. You were angry, confused, and most of all your curiousity had just been piqued. You get that feeling the entire time you play through this wonderous game that has it all; stealth, action, story. All of it. Get it. Of course these are among others.

Sensing a growing disturbance in the Force means that Soul Edge and Soul Calibur are making a rift in the space-time continum. Lightsabers CAN be blocked by metal. As long as you hold your sword, axe, or even ring blade up as if you are blocking then you are immune to Force powers. You have to be Soul Crushed before someone can rend you with a single attack, however, if you have not been Soul Crushed then even the strongest attack takes, maybe, half your health. Block less, attack more.

Okay. First impressions. Darth Vader is win. Really, though, it's more to love. It's Soul Calibur with tweaked move sets and a much more beautiful presentation. The Create-A-Soul that was introduced in the third installment makes it's return but this time the items you select effect the outcome of your characters abilities. The replacement for Chronicles of the Sword in the third installment and Weapon Master Mode of the second is Tower of Lost Souls in which you ascend, or eventually descend, a tower of 60 floors fighting characters and bosses along the way. Every floor has a number of slots for you to fill with characters should your primary character fall in battle and special conditions hinted toward you at the start of the battle will net you treasure chests should you succeed. All in all a the first impression is good.

Four days to go, troops. I'm getting more and more excited by the more videos I watch. The game looks fantastic! I just can't wait to see what they did to my boy Yun-seong, besides making him look like a pirate. Now I'm not WORRIED, per se, about them jacking my character up but I'm a bit nervous since they've decided to go a much faster route. So, we'll see.

Since there is only 11 days left and I saw no thread for this killer app then I saw fit to create one. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 10 years or don't like fighting games (Although, that would be silly) then you probably know how the Soul Calibur series are the quintessential weapon based fighting games of...ever. This installment really got me going when I found out there would be a "Guard Break" meter which keeps turtlers from, well, turtling and will make for quicker gameplay. I also can't wait to see the new create-a-character system and how different armors, clothes, and items on your character will affect weight and such as well as the ability to have pieces of your armor broken off. The inclusion of many Star Wars cameos also caught my eye when they announced that only furthering my desire to play the game. How about you all?

Best movie ever. Simply put. I had no gripes. From beginning to end you're on the edge of your seat rooting for the down-and-out Batman who simply can't seem to win against the Joker no matter how hard he tries. Now, unlike Spider-Man 3, this movie did two antagonists to perfection whereas Spider-Man 3 felt forced. Harvey Dent was a stand-up character in the movie. Aaron Eckhart really brought him to life as Heath Ledger did for the Joker. Christian Bale did another fantastic job as Batman, and Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth was played to perfection like the rest of the cast. The action scenes were so amazing on top of everything else. Batman was utilizing so many different martial art styles that you could swear it was Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li all rolled into one guy. The obligatory chase scene was pretty amazing too because the whole time you're gritting your teeth in anticipation of what is going to happen next. I could go on and on and on but I'd rather you all go see it instead. Just know; It's perfection in movie format.

Sorry, Korey, felt apt. Anyway. MAG! Anyone catch that? Massive Action Game by Zipper Interactive! So far I've only see rendered cut-scenes but they claim 256 players a game, with 8 man squads. First person shooter, of course. I'm thinking Battlefield 2 times infinity. I can't wait to see more on this game. Keep your eyes peeled, guys.
The developers have said that Far Cry 2 won't feature any out-of-the-ordinary enemies, like mutants or aliens.
Not cool at all.

I'm looking more forward to Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Dark Void, and Killzone 2. Fallout 3 is looking like a damn worthy update of such an amazing franchise made nearly 10 years, no, more than 10 years ago. The battle system looks really nice with the ability to either play in complete first person shooter fashion or bringing up VATS (Vault Assisted Targeting System) to queue up three actions and you watch them unfold as the battle progresses. I simply can't wait for the story because the past two games, barring Tactics, had a really well thought out story line that kept you hooked. Far Cry is by far one of my favorite first person shooters of all time, including Instincts on the Xbox and Xbox 360 so I'm gonna go ahead and say that I'm REALLY excited for this one that takes place in Africa rather than tropical islands. Granted, I want Jack Carver, the main hero of the previous games, to come back I'll settle for a new guy. As for the story I'm wondering if it'll have hideous experimental monsters and stuff like the previous games had. As for Dark Void and Killzone 2 they both have a ways to go but Dark Void is looking really sweet with it's vertical scaling elements and use of a jetpack at all times and Killzone 2 is, well, Killzone 2. Sink or swim, Guerilla, though it's shaping up really nicely.

Wait, so, a male with dark shag hair is the same as a male with blonde Eminem hair? Huh. I was way off, I guess. Either way, I'm jaded and I'll probably never ever like that movie.

Holy friggin' crap. Everyone on the OB needs to go out and buy Counter-Strike: Source. Nothing compares. Never has. Yeah, it's what I'm playing currently while I wait for more PS3 games to receive trophies, thus enabling me to get them.

Because they didn't even TRY to make it remotely close to it's source material. Iron-man? Close enough and well written. The Incredible Hulk? The same. Oh baby, baby. I can be angry.

There is a Wanted movie? Ooooh, right! That loosely-based piece of garbage? Right. The comic is Wanted and nothing more. It had more style, more edge, and better writing. Wesley Gibson was better in the comic and Angelina Jolie's character was actually a black woman based on Halle Berry, so, why couldn't they get her for the film? This is of course among many other problems. Some comic books should never make it to the big screen and Wanted was one of them. It was a travesty on film and I hate every single second of it.

I've easily put 100 plus hours into Counter-Strike: Source, the best multi player FPS ever made. It's one of those games that I'll put down for a few weeks to a month and then pick it back up and hard charge it for about 6 months before putting it back down but at least I've never completely quit playing it like I've completely quit play CoD4 and Rainbow Six. Plus, being able to re-skin your weapons is always nice.

Diablo 2-a-thons sound nice. On topic, though, I'm quite happy that it's staying as a isometric action-RPG. I'm not gonna lie, I was afraid it'd end up at World of Diablo which, let's not mince words here, I would have played for the sheer fact that the name Diablo was in the title.

You know. I just can't see myself getting Big Boss because I just CAN'T meticulously move the way you're meant to and the urge to kill someone ALWAYS overtakes me. Aside from that I'm an ADD gamer and I simply can't play one game until I've done or gotten everything (with the notable exception of Oblivion) so I'll give it some time on the shelf and give it a whirl later because I hear it's not impossible this time around. Still, though, the urge to kill is rising. -
Gaming Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
silpheedpilot replied to Foredaddy's topic in Noosphere
It all depends on how you wanna play. I personally focus on Assault Rifle+ and Runner cause I'm more of a sharpshooter. The more you kill people with an assault rifle and so on so forth the faster it'll level up. If you want to take a more subtle approach you can use CQC to knock your enemies out and then lay down and stab them with the knife. Takes a while but once you get those skills leveled up enough you can start grabbing dudes and slitting their throats. Furious. So, really, it all depends on how you want to play. I'd say at least level up Assault Rifle or SMG up and then focus on other skills because you can only level up like 5 skills to level 3 before it cuts you off and you either need to delete that character and start over to level up other desired skills or buy another character slot. Throw grenades a lot? Use Quarterback. Kind yourself sniping but that recoil is just too much to handle? Use Sniper Rifle+ skill. Yadda yadda. -
