Wow, 2008 came by so quickly. Well, I managed to fulfill last year's resolutions, so I guess I'll just hope to maintain them this year (good grades, keep losing weight, the basics). I also hope I remember to keep posting in this forums, which I somehow forgot :animeblus

I have been preparing a character for an independent fighting game. I first made a 3d model, which was constantly altered until a solid concept was found, then I have been using it to create 2d sprites of her. Since doing natural-looking animations is pretty hard, I thought I might post here to see what comments can be told about it. I will keep updating this post regularly, including new animations as I do them. After years of doing CG, I finally got the hang of facial expressions. Using my first fully animatable character, I started messing around with animations. Here's a collage showcasing his expresiveness. Any tips to make him look more "alive"?

I got this game on the 23th, clocked about 30 hours yet in the game, and I haven't even touched the monster raising. While the game throws you on some blatant fetch quests, they end up being loads of fun. From what I've heard, the game is [B]very[/B] long, easily clocking 60-80 hours without the sidequests. Truly a masterpiece. As for the FFXII demo, it's grown on me with each playthrough. If there's an option to speed up the action bars in the final version, it'll be another must-buy for me.

Oh my....it's been a while since I last visited my favorite forum. :o Well, in the Summer, I fell in love with the Capcom masterpiece: Killer 7. Sadly, due to a lot of school stress, I had stopped doing CG, only making some uninspired pieces once in a while. However, earlier this month, I finally got my groove back, and pulled this piece of fanart in a weekend. [URL=http://img504.imageshack.us/my.php?image=killer2hg.png][img]http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/4729/killer2hg.th.png[/img][/URL] Looking foward to some crits! :animesmil

I bet this game will have heavy emphasis on animals. From the "fake" interview to the new trailer, it all shows heavy influence with the animal world. That wolf was put in there for a reason! I'm glad this trailer showed Zelda elements, because the first trailer seemed like a generic medieval fantasy game starring Link...

My second render after a semester-long hiatus, this one took me longer than the Temple, and I am very proud of how it ended up. [IMG]http://img100.exs.cx/img100/9555/ghostsofyesterdaythumbnail3md.jpg[/IMG] Full image attached.....(Thanks Azure!) :D

After a while of being lazy, I got around to doing CG again. This one took me about 6 hours from scratch, and is a combination of Terragen, Irfanview and Blender. [IMG]http://img100.exs.cx/img100/9152/deserttemplethumbnail3yj.jpg[/IMG] Full image attached.....(Thanks Azure!) :D

I finished it last week, and I gotta say that this was the perfect closure to an excellent trilogy. Even though I've always hated the camera (and hacing the X and O buttons switched), everything else more than makes up for it. Now I that downloaded all the cutscenes for quick viewing pleasure, all is good. :D Thank you, Mr. Kojima, for such a masterpiece. May you keep on blessing us for years to come!

The armor looks very good, but the helmet's texture is too simplistic. So, not counting the tree, is the rest of the shield texture done by you? Looks nice, but lacks metalic sheen. The soldier has potential (at least until he horribly dies), so be sure to complete him.

Tonight, I discovered the beauty of Terragen. This amazing program makes creating sweet landscapes a breeze, allowing you to concentrate on other stuff. You can even export them and manually edit them on other programs. In fact, as soon as I come home from my trip, I'm going nuts with it. Here's a little something I made in about 40 minutes with it (render time included): [COLOR=DeepSkyBlue][B][URL=http://www.deviantart.com/view/13848113/]Yay![/URL][/B][/COLOR]

I got into them this last semester, and I gotta say that they have become one of my favorite bands. They have beautiful melodies, being the only band I hear for the music over the lyrics. But the lyrics are also very good, with deep meanings and all that. Has anybody heard the new album? I can't find it under $50, so can't buy it...

Oh, that's a bended knee.....I guess that it's hard to notice from that angle. If I ever touch those models again, I might actually texture them....

Wow....it's been forever since I last posted here. This is something I whipped up a few months ago, testing out the skeletons I made for my 2 Magic-related models. Since I'm starting again after a semester long hiatus, I thought it would be a good thing to post all my older stuff. [b][url="http://img23.exs.cx/img23/3905/myrclimbing2large7yl.jpg"]Bigger picture.[/url] [/b] Also, here are links to the individual models: [b][url="http://img5.exs.cx/img5/3244/MyrRetriever2.jpg"]Myr Retriever[/url][/b] [b][url="http://img5.exs.cx/img5/4599/MyrRetriever1.jpg"]Another angle for Myr Retriever[/url] [/b] [b][url="http://img56.exs.cx/img56/29/SuncrusherScene.gif"]Suncrusher[/url] [/b] [b][url="http://img56.exs.cx/img56/6263/SuncrusherModel.gif"]Another angle for Suncrusher[/url][/b] [color=teal]I put the picture into an attachment just to bring the window size down to normal. I hope you don't mind. ^_^ -Syk3[/color]

I should've posted this one in August, but I forgot...Just like my previous work, this is based on a [I]Magic: The Gathering [/I] card. I tried to make the image look similar to the original art, but I took some liberties on the myr's design. Like the Suncrusher before it, this model is fully movable (and much more flexible). [IMG]http://img5.exs.cx/img5/3244/MyrRetriever2.jpg[/IMG] Whoops on the floating foot... :o [IMG]http://img5.exs.cx/img5/4599/MyrRetriever1.jpg[/IMG] Another angle and position. [IMG]http://img5.exs.cx/img5/3374/myr_retriever.jpg[/IMG] The original card. C&C are welcome, specially since I'm really proud of this model (considering it only took me like 5 days)!

In order to get better at modeling, I decided to start making fully animatable creatures. Since I had no idea for an original design, I decided to turn my love for Magic the Gathering into blender fanart. This is the first finished model in my Magic series: [IMG]http://img56.exs.cx/img56/29/SuncrusherScene.gif[/IMG] Here's another angle with simpler lightning: [url]http://img56.exs.cx/img56/6263/SuncrusherModel.gif[/url] The original art: [IMG]http://img56.exs.cx/img56/9066/suncrusheroriginal.jpg[/IMG] I also made a short animation, which I will post as soon as I find a means to compress it (full uncompressed=300MB :wigout: ).

I think you confused the thumbnail with the real picture. I'll make the link to it easier to notice in a sec.

After listening to it a few times, I have to say that this is one of their better productions. I've always been a fan of song transitions, and one in Sinister Rouge has got to be the best way to start an album yet. My favorite song would have to be either the one I previously mentioned or Live Again (The Fall of Man). On another point, what do you people think of the Re-Issues? I really like the Generator one, and plan on getting the rest. If only they rereleased Into the Unknown...

After the low-poly and cel-shaded stuff I've been working on, this piece felt like a breath of fresh air. I aimed for a dream-like look, and I feel it looks almost exactly like I originally envisioned it. All the textures were homemade, except for the boat, sky and sword handle. So, any comments? Anime Chrono Trigger OVA (Not the PSX cutscenes, mind you!)
Turkey replied to Turkey's topic in Otaku Central
I didn't post the link because I'm not sure if it is allowed. However, I guess it's safe to say that you can find it if you search on Animesuki. It's really a shame that this OVA was so ignored, since it's a funny, lighthearted take on the famous Chrono universe. -
I took the liberty of posting the address to [URL=http://fanart.theotaku.com/artist.php?user_id=22261][COLOR=Blue]aneemaykid's fanart page[/COLOR][/URL]. If he wishes me to take it off, I'll gladly do it. Well, now that I've seen them, I believe they are very good on the hair/eye/fold department. The only problem I can see in them is the lack of depth, which seems to be what you mentioned in your first post. I can't really comment on how you can get better at that, but I bet somebody else can.

Taking a break from my comic, I decided to participate on a weekend challenge in another forum. This is my entry: [URL=http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/7988/LightFinal.jpg][COLOR=Blue]Too big to use the IMG tag.[/COLOR][/URL] [I]With the end of fossil fuels looming closer, the World Government took it upon themselves to find or create a suitable alternative.[/I]

Could you upload some examples? That way we can give you better advice.

First of all: [B]I am not asking if it exists, nor. This topic is about the real 16 minute OVA that can be found online.[/B] Last night, while I was checking out some anime online, I found a 100MB file of a Chrono Trigger OVA. First, I thought it meant a compilation of the PSX cutscenes or something, but decided to download it anyway. Little could prepare me for the reality of the video: [IMG]http://www.otakuboards.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=19661[/IMG] It was barely related to the Chrono Trigger universe (story-wise, at least). Instead, if focused on the many monsters of the game, and their own Millenial Fair (the events that began the game). The story is pretty much a parody of some events in the game, and the pure stupidity can be quite entertaining. Also, the sound consists mostly of MIDIs from the game, and fit the scenes very well (sometimes enchancing the comedic factor). On the other hand, the visuals scream low-budget. The colors are drab, the animation's fluidity is average, and the best effect is an "explosion" at the beginning. I don't know if I'm allowed to post the site to the Torrent, so I won't. However, I reccomend all Chrono Trigger fans to check it out, since the vast amount of references to the game is excellent. I also included 3 pics, to prove that I'm not referring to those cursed PSX clips.

I've been making a cel-shaded comic since a few weeks ago (see sig), yet I didn't get of to a good start. The models were hard to animate, the environment had little detail, and everything was mediocre in one way or another. In an attemp to repair this, I redid just about everything: More efficient models, better skeletons with IKAs, more detailed environments... To test out the changes, I decided to make an scene with them and a vehicle which is linked to of them. I'm really proud of how this turned out! Huge pic, so here's the link: [url]http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/6365/TheSafari.png[/url]
