Well, I've done many changes, all in pursuit of turning this into a game. 1. Instead of one character, there will be 2 characters available. While you control one, the AI will control the other. You'll be able to switch at any time, with a certain key. 2. I trashed the FPS view, and decided to use a third-person camera. 3. I'm changing the HUD into something much more attractive and simple. While I haven't really added it yet, it will only display energy, weapon and the compass. 4. I severely toned down the graphics. Now, it can be run in a computer. I might tone them down a little more if the testers have trouble. While this isn't a full enviroment, per se, I'll use this simple area for gameplay testing. Meanwhile, I'm drawing some basic ideas for the areas.

Here's one last try. I fixed some problems, and removed the green thing and Sly's face. Shame I didn't have enough time to do everything I wanted. Gotta go.

Well, here's the "final version" for the weekend challenge. I'll probably do some more stuff to it before marking it as fully finished. I can't really write more now, since I have to go...

Well, I've done quite a bit to the scene. I was gonna list them, but it's basically everything. I'm still working on the water ripples, the oil drum and the oil spill. Also, I don't know what to add in the back....pointers?

I see that you used the manga charaters for the banner. I really like that you put the image sideways, since that's just plain fitting for Excel. The "Welcome" text looks as thought it was another picture posted on top of the original (which looks very sweet). I think that a soft blue background would look nicer, since it would help make Ilpalazzo(sp?) and Excel stand out more.

This project is my presentation for this week's weekend challenge at the Blender forums. The theme is Elements, and I couldn't help but do this. I have till Monday to add stuff, so any comments will be appreciatted. Also, I'd like to know if he looks like the real thing... Note-His stiff position is because I haven't rigged him yet... (EDIT) ARGH! For some reason, the logo on his chest does not display properly!

There were some problems with the blade's reflection and lightning, but I fixed them...Also, I'm touching up the HUB, making it usable. The windows are health (detailed head), items (low-poly head, which is just a placeholder while I think up some items), compass and weapons. While maybe not so noticeable here, I've severely reduced the number of polygons (about a few thousands). I've decided to go ahead and make a simple little game, so I need to start economizing. Later, once I decide what I want to do with this, I'll model a beast or two, and take off that loser in front. Also, enviroments are coming....

Well, I've been messing around with all the tasty features of Blender, making characters and stuff. Well, here's something I haven't seen yet. Basically, I am creating a FPS mock-up. The main character is Demon Azut (from the my older Meditation scene). I want to try at least an animation with this. Of course, if I manage to, I'd also like to make a little game. So, what could I do to make it look more FPS-like?
Originally posted by Dragon Warrior Currently, this would be my favorite.
And I couldn't agree more with you. Ari looks much better than before. I think that the foreground is a little too empty, and could use something, like a shadow. or maybe a sillouette(sp?) in the light. By the way, are you going to put more illustrations in the book? Please say yes.
Originally posted by Harry Also cloricus is right, a game designer isn't that great of a job, especially now due to the budget cuts of programmers. Your bosses won't care what you think, they'll just want to make something that guarantees them profit.
I'm pretty surprised with some of the myths surrounding the video game industry. Is you look for employment in the right studios, you really won't have to worry about many of those problems. Also, there's always a pretty nice number of jobs available at interesting studios... Anyway, back on topic, I really thank your advice. I'll get my parents together someplace, and discuss with both of them everything.

Are you planning to ink the finished version? It would look sweet that way. As for the clouds, try drawing them by making lots of quick traces. Don't forget to give it a ghostly look (which would really fit the scene). Also, you should raise the horizon line, to make the kid look smaller. I gotta say that the bird looks beautiful (even with those painful-looking plants). The ripples and reflections kick cabooze, but the bird's could be larger. Also, don't forget to post a link to your novel when pre-orders are available...;)

Wow....I never thought that this would lead me to lose sleep. Maybe letting it all out will help me deal with it. Many years ago, when I was 5, my parents divorced. Since I was so young, I grew up and got used to this. I always thought that they were still friends, and I never bothered to understand what had happened. But that's another story for another day. Fast-foward to last Fall. After finally discovering that video game design is what I wanna do with my life, I went to tell my parents. While my Mom has been supportive of my decision, my Dad hasn't. I didn't really mind, since I thought that he would eventually understand, and even grow to respect my choice. Man was I wrong... Early November, my Mother gave me the news that he hired a lawyer to get my custody. To this day, he hasn't talked to me abou that. Weeks later, my Aunt confirmed that Mom was telling the truth. But that isn't the end of it. On December, shortly before I left for San Antonio (where my Mom is moving), she gave me the news of a contract that he made: If my Mother leaves Puerto Rico, and I stay here, the custody is transfered to him. He has already told me multiple times of his desire of me becoming an engineer, which is not what I want. If he earns my custody, he will make me study to become one. My mom's main reason for moving to San Antonio is because her local contract is about to end, and she has been offered jobs over there. Now she has to wait until May, since I still haven't finished my Senior year. This leads me to my problem. Ever since I got those news, my whole life has gone to hell. I can't look at him without feeling anger, and a desire to tell him everything. My mother has tried to talk to him about this, but he ignores her. I know that I have to do something, to make him understand. So please, I'm going crazy over here! I really need some advice before I do something stupid and end up destroying this family. My father is a very brash person, and will probably disown me or something. Yes, I know this sounds exagerated, but I wouldn't exactly put it past him.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel And is it just me, or are you posting this elsewhere too? There seems to be an inordinate amount of Guests viewing this picture at any given time lol.
Actually, I am. I post this on the Elysiun forums too (by the way, that's the forum for the CG program I use). As far as I know, there are no rules agaisn't this. But if there are, please tell me so I stop doing that. For some reason, even though I used Toon shading for everything on the scene (as I do with almost everything), the knives are the only items to really look Toon-shaded. I was originally going to change that, but I wanted to make them stand out over the rest of ther scene. Also, they were supposed to reflect the table and the ceiling, but for some reason it didn't work.

It laughed at me...I laughed at it...We laughed together...And somehow I managed to finish it. In-between versions 2 and 3, I lost it and deleted most of the objects. Then, I made some new ships for the center focus, and put more emphazis(sp?) on action. Even though I like what I did, I feel no satisfaction when I look at it. I guess you can't always win....

After a long, tiring week, I have finally done the last grayscaled scene for the competition I'm participating in. After the fiasco that was the "Escape" scene (such long render times should be illegal!), I decided to go for a simple, darker theme. I am really happy with the result, especially since I did it in about than 2 hours (I had to send all my scenes for printing today). While I noticed some errors in the blood, I probably won't touch this scene again. Still, I'd really appreciate any and all C&C, since I have a little over a month for the big art competition ($25,000 scholarship for the winner!), in which I have to show off 7 freaking scenes with a variety of styles.......... ......I'm not surviving this Winter....

My first real kiss was when I was staying at my best friend's house in the Summer. We had been watching movies, and kinda fell asleep in the same bed. I'm not really sure what happened after that, but I ended up kissing her. It was no tongue, but with slightly open mouths. Well, I fell into such a shock, I believe my heart stopped for a second. Judging by her face, she was just as startled. Ever since then, we haven't spoken on the subject. However, a few weeks ago I leaned over to kiss her (as a joke), she didn't resist, and for some reason I stopped on my own. Also, I made out with my dog when I was like 5, but I don't think that counts...

Alex rode on his "borrowed" motorbike, towards the place indicated by Kazuko. Along the way he saw many planes shooting, and cars driving in an eerily monotonous way. The hours passed, but he couldn't stop driving until he met the people Kazuko told him about. Eventually, he reached the end of the bridge, and reached his destination: Beach Side. Alex: Let's find out if those girls are here. What were their names again? Oh yeah: Felody, Pain and Ravioli. Wait, were those their names? Oh well...

This is second B&W render for the competition I'm in. The first one was Fantasy, so i decided to make the second one Sci-Fi. In this one, I want to give off a vision of loss and slow turn into chaos. Right now, I haven't fully captured that. Any help on getting it right?

Wet enough to catch a terminal disease, Alex Mondaval stood in front of the Tropicana rest stop. After years of searching, he had managed to establish a communication link with Dr. Kazuko. They had agreed on meeting here. Alex: Well, here I am! I hope this Dr. Kazuko helps me go to the North. I hope the description he gave me was accurate. Inside, he was greeted sourly by a noticeably angry waiter, who refused to help him locate the Doctor. Alex: It seems that he had a bad time with another customer. Maybe if I treat him nicely... Hey, my good man. If you help me locate this person, I will pay you well. Also, I'll tell your boss about the excellent service you gave me. So, how about it? Waiter: *Starting to feel a little better* Okay, I like your offer. I think I saw a guy that looked like your description. Follow me! After some wrong guesses, Alex finally found the real Dr. Kazuko, who was quite eager to meet him. Kazuko: So you are the Mr. Mondaval that contacted me a few weeks ago, weren't you? Alex: Yeah. Pleasure to meet you. I assume you remember what we talked about? Kazuko: Of course. Let's get a seat. We have much to discuss. OOC: Don't worry, I'm not gonna drag on behind forever. I'll reach you guys pretty soon!

This is starting to hurt my PC. Each image render takes about 2-3 minutes. Well, I changed the lightning back to daylight, and made some clouds (thanks to Saraja Olivier's excellent tutorial, I might add). I also tweaked the lightning once again, and while I have yet to replicate the cool face effect, I managed to give off a clearer view of the scene. I changed the butterflies' texture, and moved Azut's wings backwards (yes, they are wings). Right now I am less than pleased with the clouds, but it's 1:39AM, and I don't feel like changing them without a good night's sleep. BTW- Thanks for the comments! Without your help, I probably would've stayed with the first image.

Name: Alex Mondaval Age: 26 Home Country: Spain Appearance: Medium, wavy hair, permanently dyed purple. He wears army pants and dark boots, as well as gloves. He keeps his army jacket open, showing his black shirt that simply says: "I am the Lightning Rod". Around his neck, he wears a necklace that opens to reveal a blank picture. His skin tone is a strong tan, which seems to be more artificial than natural. Demeanor: Carlos talks with a light British accent. He likes to make small talk with others, and is easily offended. Altought his looks might show an aggresive person, he prefers using dialogue to fix things (something that seldom helps him in this crazy world). He studied a lot of psychology, which he uses to analize the best way to deal with another person. He's also glad to tell other his motives for traveling to the North. What You're Bringing: A backpack that includes a First Aid kit and some basic survival gear, and a M-16 Rifle. Purpose of traveling to the North: A few years ago, the same day the spell was recited, Alex was having breakfast with his family. Robbers entered the house and shot everyone, Alex being the only one fast enough to duck in time. The robbers pointed and shot him. Then the boy recited the spell. Wounded, he stood up, full of hate towards the robbers. They, who didn't understand what was happening, ran away. As the years passed, Alex has never forgotten their faces, and desires to avenge his family. Others: His bullet wounds damaged so many vital organs that he will die shortly after the spell is lifted, but he does not care, since he's "living on borrowed time".

Here in San Juan, you have to be courteous on the road (wether in a car or on foot). Thing is, there are a lot of scumbags that don't really care about going to jail, and will shoot you if you dare to honk the horn. Now that I think about it, it's kinda funny to see a rude person get his headlights smashed and his windows busted...

I tried and tried adding clouds, but none seemed to fit properly into the scene. Thus, I simply added stars. I also removed the outlines, just to see how it looked (and I like it!). Added some butterflies too. Sadly, while messing with the lightning, I lost the look I had given his face, which was my favorite part of the image...:(

After a day of rigging up Demon Azut (my character from my last topic), I can finally use him for other projects. Here's the first one: I'm using it for a competition, which requires 3 black and white images. Since I wanted a handmade look, I applied Toon Shading on everything. I am personally happy with how it turned out. However, I feel that I should add something. Any ideas?

Deliciously colorful. My favorites have to be the 2 guys on the right ( I have yet to learn LP's names). The middle guy's arms look a little odd hanging out there, with nothing to do. Also, adding some shadows would make it look very sweet. Lastly, love the folds. 7.50/10
