Miach helped the other man that Jake had mentioned stand up. It was clear that he was still a bit dazed from his unconciousness. "C'mon," he said as he followed after Jake. As he started thinking, Miach wondered at the chance of this plan working. Or what the plan even was. All he knew was that he'd have a world of work ahead of him with all the injuries that escapees were retaining. If any survived. If he survived. "Jake," Miach said, after a moment of his thoughts, "what exactly is your plan?" Turning his head to see Miach, Jake replied slowly, "You should be able to understand it. Doctor, what happens to the human body when the brain stops functioning?" Miach nodded and was silent, delving into his thoughts again. After another bit of silence, Miach said, "You do realize that this won't work that way. We may take out Nero, but that won't mean the guards'll stop attacking. It'll just make us top priority target practice. They'll break out the real guns and they'll kill everyone in sight." "I realize that," Jake snapped. "What you don't realize is that these people will risk anything to get out of here. I don't think that the guards could do anything to stop them, even if they did start killing people." Miach didn't find that a comforting thought. OOC: If I got anything wrong, Sazabi, just tell me and I'll fix it. I made it kinda vague, so it could be taken a few different ways.

What is this lack of respect towards women, huh?
kenshinsbabe replied to a topic in General Discussion
The following post is not meaning any offense to anybody. If someone takes offense, I'm sorry, but it's your own fault for being so freaking sensitive. Get over it. I've never been treated differently because I'm a woman (but only because I'm a young woman, not yet able to go out far in the world), but I have seen it happen. My old landlord made my mom jump through hoops for her to keep renting our house. She could never just call him out on it or take him to court, because then he'd kick us out of our home and she'd be responsible for finding a new home on such short notice for her two young girls. So she had to just sit there and eat the crap he threw her way. The situation may seem slightly familiar to some. There are variations all over the scale. This is just showing that women have it no better off than any other minority. Especially if that woman happens to be part of another minority, like black or Jewish. And the constant factor in the oppression of all the minorities is white males. That's not saying that if you're born a white male, that you're destined to call every gay person you see a "******" and beat your wife. It's just more likely. And it's all based on upbringing. Most situations like Heero's that I hear about just make me think how much of animals we humans can really be. There's the dominant male of the situation, a threatening male (or just a misinterpreted threat, in this case), and the fight that involves females. Only takes you about a half an hour to see a special on Animal Planet that'll depict the same thing. 'Cept without the unnecessary name calling and speaking. -
Kacela's father opened his eyes and looked at his young daughter as her sobbing began to cease. Something caught his eye. He looked up and saw Vincent standing there watching them. Nodding in approval, he started back toward the party. "Kacela," her father said. "You don't even know my name, do you?" There was a silence, in which Kacela sniffled, looked up at him and shook her head. Smiling, he continued, "It's Amadeus." Returning the smile, Kacela replied, "I'll be just fine calling you 'father'." They walked back together to the group, met by a rather out-of-the-ordinary sight: Dalanius and Ceyla kissing. When they pulled away, Neko told them what happened with her, Vincent, and Kacela. Ceyla replied, "We'll just have to wait and see what happens next." That's when a thought hit Kacela: Their mission was complete. The princess was safely on her way back to the castle. They had taken some extra time for personal things that they probably wouldn't be asked about in detail upon their arrival to Mecki, but that still didn't save them from the fact that they had to return sooner or later. What would happen to them after that? Would they all go their separate ways? Kacela was snapped out of her thoughts by Vincent. "Well, I'm not sure about you all," he said, "but there's only so much action that can take place in one night before I get tired. Since our first choice of lodging has now been burned to the ground-" he motioned to the smoldering pile of ashes and burnt wood that had previously been the inn- "I'm open to suggestions."

This one's a tough one. I was actually debating with myself about this a few days ago. I came to the conclusion that "Pirate > Ninja". For a few reasons. Reason #1: I would enjoy buckling my swash (XD) quite a bit. Reason #2: The crow's nest. Navigating would be so awesome just because you'd get to sit in the crow's nest all day. Reason #3: Just being on the ocean in a ship (probably stolen), not living by anyone's rules but the captain's. It would be an extremely adventurous life.

It was obvious that something was wrong with Ceyla. It was also obvious that there wasn't much that Kacela could do about it right now. Something had happened to her, but she seemed too stunned to say anything. "Come on, you," Kacela said as she walked by her father. He got up and followed her away from the group. They went into an alley between a shop and a bar. There, Kacela turned around, shoved her father into the wall and punched him in the face. "You worthless piece of shit!" she cried as she delievered another punch to his face. "How could you just rape a woman like she was some common whore!?" She swung at him for another punch, but he grabbed her arm. Placing his other hand around her waist, he threw her out of the alley into the main street. "Dammit, don't you think I've learned since then!?" There was a silence in which both tried to hold back tears. Then her father said, "If there's one thing I could take back, it would be what I've done to your mother. What I've done to you. I would take it all back and start over. I'd give you a real father." He outstretched his hand to her. Slowly, she took it and stood up. Though she tried, she wasn't able to hold the tears back any longer. She hugged him and sobbed into his shoulder, ready to have a father for the first time in her life.

Miach was tired beyond measure. He regained conciousness for a while, just long enough to hear the end of a conversation between Jake and another man. His muscles were randomly seizing up every now and then with the remnants of electrical current running through his body. Lazily opening his eyes, Miach said, "How'd it end up?" "Not over yet," Jake replied, kneeling down in front of him. "The first fight is over, and we came out pretty well, but it's only just beginning." Finally gaining control of his arms, Miach reached up and pushed his glasses back up on his nose. "What have you done to your arms?" Smiling guiltily, Jake said, "Heavy lifting. Mind a touch-up?" Miach pulled out his medical kit and began to repair Jake's mechanical arms as best as possible with the tools he had. After he'd started, he saw the man Jake had been talking to earlier. The man nodded in greeting and said, "Name's Pe Ell." Miach replied with his name and continued working. "I'm gonna go keep a watch. You might want to hurry that up, doc. We won't want to be here for long." When Pe Ell left, Miach asked Jake, "So what exactly are you planning here, Jake?" At that, Jake seemed to change a bit. The air around him seemed heavier. "We're getting the hell out of here."

Kacela looked around her as her senses came slowly back to her. It took her awhile to realize that the inn was in a dying blaze. "No!" she exclaimed, trying to get up. Her muscles weren't obeying her just yet. "What's going on here?" Dalanius said cautiously. Kacela had hardly seen him until he said something. Her words tumbled out quickly, "Dalanius, you have to save them! They might be trapped in there or-" Dalanius' face changed. He went from cautiously investigative to sullen and hopeless. He put away his sword. "I couldn't find them," he said in a dark tone of voice. Staring in disbelif, Kacela yelled out, "Ceyla! Cellah! Hashi!" Shakily, she stood. "We've got to search for them! Maybe they got out in time..." Just before she started searching for her comrades, Kacela took out her sword and put it up to her father's neck. "And if you leave here before I get back, I'll spend the rest of my life hunting you down. And when I find you, I'll kill you." With that, she replaced her sword in the sheathe and ran off, crying out her friends' names.

There were no two ways around it. Miach was terrified. He had to force his mind to work quickly as he saw a guard charging at him. "Weak points, wrist, ankle, throat, and head!" He said to himself rapidly as he dodged out of the way. The guard swung behind him with his shock stick, hoping to connect with Miach (and he barely missed). Jumping up quickly, Miach put his left hand on the outside of the guard's elbow and punched his forearm, bending his arm backwards and leaving him unable to use the shock stick with that arm and forcing him to drop it in pain. Miach picked it up and attacked the guard. As the guard fell to the ground, Miach made to jump into the larger part of the fray, now that he was relatively armed. He barely moved before he got an air-rifle shot in the back. Surprised and caught off balance, he fell forward. Another guard came from the side and delivered a crushingly powerful kick to the doctor's ribs, sending him flying a few feet. One guard already armed with a shock stick, the other picked up the one Miach had dropped. Standing was painful, but he had to if he wanted any chance at all to live. One shock he could probably take, but he wasn't sure if he could handle two. It wasn't until the guards got close that he realized that he was cornered on a wall. There was no obvious exit to him. Following the only course of action he might live through, he dived to one side of the guards. As he figured, he was attacked by the closest guard's shock stick. As he fell to the ground, writhing and convulsing in pain, he thought, 'At least it's better than two would be.' Conciousness fled him.

Miach had been so close to being thrown in to fight. After Jake left, Miach gathered his things from the ground and stood up shakily. For a moment, he just stayed in place. That is, until he heard all the commotion in the fight. His attention was drawn; he looked over and saw Jake and two others fighting viciously in the arena against some unlucky people. He ran up to the side of the arena, filled with fear for his friend. He stared intently, cursing himself for not knowing how to fight. If he wasn't positive that he'd be killed in an instant in there, he might have tried to help. A lot of good another corpse would do. "Dammit, Jake, what the hell are you thinking?"

This movie just came out in the U.S yesterday (6/6/06), using the date as a "scare factor" of sorts. I just wanted to see what you people who have seen it thought of it. I think it was just cheap scares. I mean, come on! When it gets quiet, you know that something's gonna pop up behind her! It's scary/horror movie protocol. The only parts where I really couldn't look is where
the priest guy got impaled and the photographer got his head torn off and thrown like a baseball.
What did you think?

My favorite mystical creature is the Competant Politition. It's really a shame that they don't exist. In all seriousness, I would choose the phoenix. It's the "reborn from the ashes" thing that really draws me to them. For those who might not know, what I mean is that the phoenix never just dies of old age. It bursts into flame, the ashes fall to the ground, and a baby phoenix comes out of the ashes. That, and they've been portrayed as beautiful animals. I would love to see it.

Things were coming out of people so quickly. There was no reason or thought behind what was going on. "Stop!" Kacela shouted, dragging the man away from Vincent and Neko. "Killing each other isn't going to solve anything. First thing we need to do is to get through that gate." She looked at the man. "Now, either you come with us peacefully, or we leave you here." After hard stares at one another, the man finally nodded resignedly. "And you two," she said, looking at Vincent and Neko, "don't go jumping down his throat until I have a chance to talk with him. He is my father, after all." She put a scorning emphasis on the word "father". With that, everyone trudged forward toward the gate.
-
As the three walked up toward the gates, they were all silent. No doubt all wrapped in their own thoughts. Kacela was jolted from her mind by a hand wrapping around her ankle. She screamed in surprise, drew her sword, and looked down. A man looked up at her gravely. "Help me..." he said. At that moment, a few demons came to take hold of him. Kacela severed their heads from their shoulders and pulled the man up. He was much too weak to stand on his own, so Kacela let him balance on her. Vincent and Neko had stopped and waited for her. "I couldn't just leave him," Kacela said, trying to explain her actions. Vincent nodded and said, "Come on, only a little farther to the gate now."

Miach pulled his small medical kit out of his coat pocket as he helped a young boy out of the sight of guards. The boy was too young to have done anything to get into level three by himself. 'Poor lad must have been born in here,' Miach thought to himself. Easing the boy slowly down to the floor, Miach's weary hands fumbled with his medical equipment. "Doc?" the boy said weakly. Raising his eyes to the boy's sweat-covered face, Miach replied, "Yes?" "Doc, don't waste your stuff. Save it for someone who'll make it." Shrugging his shoulder that no longer bore an arm, the boy said, "I'm done for." "No," Miach said, even though the lack of conviction in his voice betrayed him. A blade came right over his shoulder, barely missing, and hit the boy point-first in the forehead. As blood spattered on him, Miach fell backward in surprise and horror. "Don't make me have to dirty a knife on you too, fuckbag," a guard said through the bars of the cell . Miach got up and hurried away through large groups of people to the other end of the small, cramped cell. 'I must be dead,' he thought, 'because this has to be hell.'

Kacela's eyes filled with tears as she saw Vincent in the Neatherrealm. She'd been surprised when Neko had joined her and tried to make it to her comrade before something got a hold of her, but both were grabbed before Kacela had a chance to talk to Neko. "Vincent, what's going on?" Kacela said, going toward him. She wanted to be sure he was real. She wanted to be close to him. She hugged him tightly and cried silently into his shoulder. "Don't worry..." Vincent said distractedly. Neko sighed and said, "What do we do now?"
-
Perhaps she merely heard the man wrong. When he asked, "What's you're name?", she probably heard, "What's her name?". Most people slur the "s" and sort of connect it to the "y" and combined with the ringing head that she certainly had, it could have easily been a mix-up.

Name: Miach Hewitt Age: 20 Gender: Male Appearance: He has long, brown hair, down to about mid-back length that he keeps in a ponytail. Since he's been taken in, he hasn't been offered a change of clothes, so he still wears the long white coat of the medic. Under that, he has a black, shortsleeved shirt, black pants and black boots. Wears glasses. He managed to keep a small, portable medical kit on his person when he was taken to the Coliseum, so he can take care of some people. Personality: Miach tries to help everyone who is hurt in the cells, especially when the guards have their way with the prisoners. He's afraid to be sent to fight because he'd never had any weapon training. He doesn't mind talking to people, but he doesn't talk to alot of the people in the cells just because most of them are killers, but he still takes care of whomever he can. Level: Three Reason for being in the Colusiem: On his way to treat a patient of his, a rebellion broke out in the street. When guards came to quell it, he got caught in the mass numbers of people that were running. A few diehards tried to attack the guards, succeeding in killing three out of the fifteen there. They were attacked and left for dead. When he thought the guards were gone, Miach went back to help the men and was caught by some sentries. He was thrown in a level three cell because he tried to help the killers and some guards insisted that he helped them murder. -
Over Vincent's head, there was a crash of glass: Kacela had jumped out of her room's window on the second floor. She curled her body up and got ready for impact with the ground. She hit the ground with a thump and rolled forward twice. With her back facing up, she put her hands over her head as a shower of glass came down on her, cutting her hands a bit, but only grazing her leather vest. She jumped up quickly and looked around. People were running out of the inn, but Kacela was looking for her comrades. Her eyes locked with Vincent. "Vincent!" she cried with relief. When she made her way over to him, she said, "Come on, Vincent, we have to get the others out. They might be trapped or-" "They'll be alright, Kacela," Vincent said, grabbing her arm. "I'm just glad you got out." He pulled her toward him and hugged her tightly. "Vincent...are you alright?" Her breath caught in her chest and her eyes widened as she felt cold steel being shoved through her body. Vincent's hand went up to her mouth and covered it, though she was too surprised to scream. Vincent took a step away and twisted his sword inside her, then pulled it out. As Kacela fell to the ground, blood flowed out of her stomach and mouth. Her vision blurred and senses dulled as she looked up at Vincent. She fell to the ground with a thump and thought briefly, hoping with all her might that her friends could hear her, 'Be careful...and help him...' Darkness took her.

Tigger bounced his way through the Hundred Acre Woods on his way to Kanga's house. Suddenly, something caught his eye. Looking up, something fell over his face. "Hey, who turned out the lights?" Tigger said loudly as he lifted the white thing off of his nose. There were scribbles on it. Tigger couldn't make any sense of it. But he had an idea who could. "Pooh bear?" No, Tigger, Christopher Robin. "Oh!" With that Tigger bounced away to find Christopher Robin. "Christopher Robin!" Tigger called. Looking down the path, he saw his good friend Winnie the Pooh, Pooh for short. "Pooh bear!" he said as he pounced on his friend. -
Kacela's mind was buzzing. She was immensely relieved that Vincent was back with her, but her mind kept nagging at her, thinking about how it happened. People don't just come back from the dead, no matter how strong they are. Returning to the conversation, Ceyla talked about some assasin's town. It looked like everybody agreed to go, so they got up and moved out. Kacela moved around in a daze, her uplifting thoughts warring with her worried ones. As they were leaving the campspot, Vincent came to her side and said, "Hey, you okay? You look kinda out of it." His words drew her attention and she looked up at him. She couldn't help but notice the changes he'd undergone somehow. "I'm fine. I'm just thinking." "Still stuck on the 'back from the dead' thing?" Kacela nodded. Vincent put his arm around her shoulders."Well, I'm just happy to be back."

After the group talked for a while, Kacela broke off from them and moved a bit farther into the darkness, only partially illuminated by firelight. There, she fell into an uneasy sleep. Kacela found herself in a dark place. Suddenly, she saw Vincent appear. He was deathly pale. "Vincent!" she called as she went toward him. She hugged him closely when she noticed something. "Vincent, you're cold..." "Kacela," Vincent said. He got ready to say something more... "Get up, Kacela! Quick!" She was jolted out of her sleep by Ceyla. Kacela looked around the camp to see what caused the note of urgency in her voice. Her eyes rested on Neko. Her eyes widened as she continued to look around. If Neko was here, surely Vincent must be too. Neko said quickly, "Come on, you guys have to come! Vincent's in danger!" Kacela jumped up and went to Neko. "Lead the way! Go!" Neko began running and everyone followed. Kacela pulled out her sword, readying for any battle that may come. Suddenly, four people jumped out of the forest and tackled Neko. Four more walked out and faced the group. One of them said, "I see you've brought friends. I guess we'll just have to kill them just like Vincent, won't we?" Everything seemed to stop. Kacela's eyes widened in disbelief. "You lie!" she shouted, rage welling up inside her. "Oh, it seems I've hit a nerve, haven't I?" said the man calmly. She couldn't let him get away with this. "You shut your mouth!" she yelled with all of her being as she charged him, her sword ready to taste his flesh and rip him apart.

The guards were quite ferocious. They didn't give Kacela any time to try to fire at them from afar. The one that chose to fight her was armed with a large axe. He started by hurling his axe at her. Being distracted by all the action around her, she hardly made it under the flying weapon before she heard it lodge into the wall behind her. As she tried to collect her wits, the large guard made his way to her (swiftly, considering his girth) and lifted her up by her leather vest. With a grunt of effort, he threw her into a stone wall. Kacela fell to the ground in a heap of pain. Her head was spinning and her back ached terribly. Her ears were ringing loudly, though she could hear a faint shriek. Chancing to open her eyes, she saw only vague sillhouettes. The one she had heard shrieking was flying into a fray of fighting. She felt herself being lifted forcefully. Through her dizzyness, she was able to see the massive form of the guard in front of her. Trying her hardest not to faint, she leaned her back against the wall and kicked her legs up, hitting the guard in the stomach and giving her enough time to stumble away. She had no idea where she was going and the pounding in her head got so bad, she could hardly see straight. As she fell onto another wall, she felt something: the handle of the guard's axe. Forcing her body to pull the axe out of the wall was a challenge, but she managed it. She saw his figure close to her. Swinging with all she had, she felt the axe make contact with flesh. Her strength finally failed her and her hands slipped from the handle of the axe. Kacela's sight cleared for a moment and she saw where she had hit the guard as he fell to the ground. She had put the axe halfway through his neck. When his great bulk hit the ground limply, her muscles gave way as well. She stumbled back on the wall and slid down to the ground. She would not give in to unconsiousness, but there was nothing she could do now but wait until her comrades finished off the remaining guards. She closed her eyes in an attempt to stop the pounding of her head.

As she sat alone by the fire, cooking the rabbit and bird that she and Dalanius had caught, she noticed Ceyla acting rather nervously. Not long after, the meat was cooked to perfection. "The food is ready," she said to the other women. Kacela set the food out on a rock by them and moved over by the trees. Ceyla watched her and said, "Aren't you going to have some?" Shaking her head, Kacela replied, "Maybe later. I'm going to go for a walk. Make sure to leave some for Dalanius." With that, she went back into the forest. As she got well into her walk, Kacela found a tree that she had an impulse to climb. Nimbly, she scaled the tree. When she got a fair distanced above the ground, she found a group of branches that could act as a makeshift resting place. Wrapping her cloak around her, she rested her body and closed her eyes, listening to the sounds around her. Birds twittered their songs and flew about the trees. A faint breeze danced through the leaves, making soft, rattling earth music. She could hear various creatures below her, going through their day on the ground finding food, making a shelter, or simply playing. Before the breeze took her to the release of sleep, the thought crossed her mind again, like a message to Vincent: 'Be safe, dear one.'
