Originally posted by James I'm utterly pissed that they are using that stupid super computer cliche...*sigh* Can't someone ever make a video game based movie without totally screwing it up?
Some video game movies aren't that bad... Final Fantasy wasn't bad if you forget the fact that the movie has absolutely nothing to do with the games. What makes me mad about the Resident Evil movie is the fact that Capcom has no say in the movie... at all. Everything in the movie was made up by the writer who probably doesn't know anything about the game, grrr!
Originally posted by BabyGirl The only cool one was Suzuka...her swordsmanship was awesome ;)
I have to agree with you there, Suzuka is one of the coolest anime chicks around. Aisha can be funny sometimes but she mainly comes across as annoying. Zero: None of the McDougall Brothers die (technically.) Though Harry did lose his body in episode 26 his thoughts were able to stay around because they were uploaded to his ship's memory.

My name is Josh (Shyguy) I have also been here since V1, in fact I have been here longer than every staff member, except for Rico... I think. I do the Outlaw Star summaries at theotaku.com in addition to my new position as a mod here at the boards. My hobbies include video games, comic books and animation (not just anime, american cartoons as well.) My current favorite anime is Evangion, but I have only seen a few episodes... my other favorite show is probably Sailor Moon... *stares a Rick, runs away* Actually, I have been here several months longer than you. So has Cloud. :p -Justin

This Historic Event That Will Never Happen Again
Shy replied to Frankie's topic in General Discussion
Bah, I am just about getting off the comp now. You will have to wait until later. I remember 9/9/99 when the Sega Dreamcast came out, that was cool... too bad I was the only one to buy one! -

I really don't see how this is historic Blanko, but it is fun to know none-the-less. :) -
Originally posted by D*Star *Prepares to whack little bro with umbrella*
D*Star how dare you! I am the one who started hitting people with umbrellas, how could you steal that from me? And Raiha, they are both very good poems. Especially the latter, which I enjoy very, very much. It is not often I read a poem with the words "Demon God" in it, but maybe it is because I don't read enough poetry. Who knows? -Shy

Jim's father is one of the greatest computer hackers in the universe, and he trained Jim at an early age. But his father was arrested I believe, which forced Jim to get a job while his dad was/is in jail.

You are so incredibly lucky I am not allowed to use my mod powers yet... This does not belong in the general anime section. There is now cowboy bepop forum because there isn't enough of a demand for one. If you want to post Bepop topics you can do it here, as long as they arn't like this.

I am a fan of Bishoujo anime. Stories about girls seem to have the deepest storylines and most intresting characters compared to the non-stop action and violence of many Bishounen. But its not that I don't like the occasional anime about armies of giants robots killing eachother, they both have their ups and downs.

There are 26 episodes I believe. If you need more information about certain episodes of Outlaw Star you can visit theotaku.com, there are some great episode guides there. -Shy :whoops:

I absolutely love the new boards. The design is just great, I couldn't imagine going back to version 3 after this... now I know why some of you wanted Version 4 so much.

Everyone has to realize that anime is a business first and foremost. Animation is extremely expensive to produce in comparison to live-action work and with Japan's (and the worlds) recent economic problems it is becoming increasingly obvious to japanese animation studios in order to pay for the animation they will need to receive income from new sources. The easiest way to make money from the shows is to sell products using the anime characters likenesses (video games, Burger King toys.) Unfortunantly American investors are weary to pay for the production of an anime series if it does not seem to have enough appeal to American audiences. Jokes and scenes involving japanese culture (which 9 year olds wouldn't understand) have to be cut in order to make the shows more relevant to their target audience. This comes at a price though, which is why many dubbed series seem to well... suck. If it weren't for Pokemon then it is highly unlikely that many anime series (Cardcaptors, Yugi-oh, Medabots) would ever make it to the United States at all. Commercialism can't be helped because television stations are there to make money! :whoops:

I know this is a little off topic but remember when kuja's name was changed to felix? You had something like "It will all make sense when 03 online is up" but I still don't have a clue what the name meant. :cross:

Of course I remember, I was just joking silly :p

I can't wait for V4, I know it is going to be great. According to Nerdsy I joined on the 30th of March, but I seem to remember the 31st for some reason. I dunno, but I do know that him, Cera and myself all joined within three days of eachother. But I think everyone knows that by now, one of us seems to bring it up in every one of these sort of topics.

I haven't seen all of Stars yet so I can't realy judge it completely.. but from what I have seen so far I like it. My favorite season is S, mainly because I felt the introduction of the outer senshi really added some excitement to the show.

I don't know what "Mon-Mon" is but I have heard of Macross and Bubblegum crisis. They aren't exactly my favorite anime, but Bubblegum Crisis is ok. It's not that I don't like Macross, but I find it a little dull.
