As a general rule, extended flashbacks are fine as long as they serve a purpose. I know a lot of RPGs aren't really concerned with continuity, but since we have so many characters and stories going on I'd like to keep things organized. Happy New Year, everyone. -Shy

The Changing Guard Much like the rest of Rosengard, Fauntleroy had great difficulty in getting to sleep. Between the various explosions in New Czenoble and Leonhart’s disappearance it was as if the entire family was waiting up to see what would happen next. It was late in the morning when he finally awoke, dressed himself, and headed downstairs for a bite to eat. It seemed improper to ask anything of Dame Anna after everything that had happened, so he decided to bother Henry instead. As Fauntleroy walked down the staircase he noticed that the servants stood lined up against the walls as if under inspection. Dame Anna, trading in her familiar gray apron for black, eyed each and every one of them carefully as she passed by. Henry dutifully followed her from behind, taking notes as she made comments on each of the servants. If he hadn’t known better, Fauntleroy would have thought he was watching a great general commanding her troops. “This won’t do,” Dame Anna said, “This won’t do at all.” She pointed at one of the younger servant’s attire, “These hemlines are so high. Everything must be corrected at once, Henry.” “Yes, mother.” “So much needs to be done!" she exclaimed as she ran her fingers through her hair, "I only hope we have enough time.” "We will, Mom. Please don't try to upset yourself." Fauntleroy approached the two, “What is going on here?” Dame Grimalkin curtsied, “Good morning, Master Almagest.” “Master Almagest? What are you talking about?” “Lady Bavaria has made it known that she wishes to return to Rosengard,” Anna said with a heavy sigh, “We are expecting her to arrive in a few hours, and she demands nothing less than perfection.” “Lady Bavaria?” Fauntleroy asked nervously, “This is the last thing we need…” “You will show your stepmother the same courtesy that she has to you, Master Almagest. Your breakfast is waiting for you on the veranda," she motioned for the servants to continue standing at attention, "But it is important that we see to Lady Bavaria‘s… numerous requests before she arrives.” “Of course… I’m sorry to bother you.” "It's not a bother at all, sir." There was a moment of silence. It was obvious that the formality of the exchange was making everyone uncomfortable. "And where is everyone?" “Some have left Rosengard bravely, hoping to carry on as if nothing has happened. Many others are still here throughout the estate...” Anna replied as she placed her hand on Fauntleroy’s shoulder, “Please do everything you can to care for your family. They need you now more than ever.”

Raiha: I'm confused about the timing of your latest post. Didn't Jack spend much of his evening with Meredyne, Charles and the others? Such lovemaking seems improper for a lady! Either way, I reposted the 'Next day' portion of my last post after Raiha's so that it would fit in better with the timeline. It is officially morning, so please feel free to move on with your character's lives. If you thought yesterday was important you're in for some big surprises... (Gavin, if you want to 'split' your post as well, for orders sake, that would be preferable.) -Shy

Deep within the halls of Rosengard Dame Grimalkin quietly escorted Vincent to her quarters. She held a candelabra in one hand, and escorted the young man with the other, quietly muttering to herself. So many were in attendance for the somber dinner that speaking to him in private seemed impossible. Now, long after the meal ended she finally had that chance. In the time they had known one another he had never seen Dame Anna so upset. Many of the children were in disbelief, but it seemed as if the old woman had always known this day would come. Vincent too was coming to terms with the day’s events, but he had little time to mourn while an investigation was underway. “Leonhart would never listen to me, Vincent,” she said tearfully as she opened her bedroom door. “Just last night he had received a threatening note…” Dame Anna’s room was a simple one, and a far cry from the rest of the Rosengard estate. While she had worked with the Almagests for decades, she insisted on a simple servant’s room with few luxuries. The only artwork on the walls was a portrait of Henry, while pictures of Leonhart’s children sat neatly along her nightstand. She opened the top drawer and withdrew a small piece of paper. Her hand began to tremble as she handed the note to Vincent. He grabbed a hold of her wrist reassuringly. “It’s going to be alright, Anna.” Dame Grimalkin shook her head, “Please, please. Just take a look at it…” Landmark 04 “You say he received the note last night, during the party?” “One of the servants brought it to our attention. He ordered me to dispose of it, but I knew better…” “And this symbol in the corner. Do you recognize it?” “I’m afraid not,” she said as she reached for a teapot in the corner of the room, “Can I serve you some tea while you examine this?” “Lady Grimalkin, please.” Vincent pleaded, “You’ve done nothing but work since you heard the news of the accident. You have as much a right to rest as anyone here. Moreso, even.” “It’s not my place, Vincent. I am here to care for this household,” she said as she began to break down, “With the master of the house deceased they will be expecting me to keep the estate in order.” Vincent nodded, “Your first responsibility is to take care of yourself.” “If only that were true,” she replied, “Tonight was difficult enough for the family. What will happen tomorrow when all of Czenovia discovers that Leonhart Almagest is dead?”

The one song that really stuck with me from Sweeney Todd was The Worst Pies in London, and I have been listening to it habitually since seeing the movie. I am not sure if it is the tongue-in-cheek lyrics, or enthusiasm for being so terrible on the part of Mrs. Lovett, but it is a very addictive song.
I abslutely love Sweeney Todd. I've been singing 'Johanna' to my dog for the past couple of days -- it's really quite disturbing when you think about it... Anyway, I've been listening to the new Rilo Kiley release, Under the Blacklight, regularly since I got it a couple of months ago. At first their new sound was off-putting, but I ultimately fell in love with it. The new Feist is also rather fantastic. -Shy

I agree that using your image in the article may have gone too far, but everything written was completely true. If anything, several members have complained that the AE Boards article is much too positive. OB and AE have had an extremely long and complicated history, one which ended in disaster. It's an important part of OB lore, so I'd hate to see it edited out of Otakupedia entirely. Perhaps some sort of compromise can be reached, but these articles were created for entertainment purposes only. As a member of OB you are welcome to your opinion, and to produce Otakupedia articles of your own. Best of luck with your site's 11th anniversary. -Shy

Hours later Fauntleroy still found himself bothered by the confrontation at the Celcius Complex. In all of his life the working class had never been anything but obedient and good-natured. Something had changed the citizens of New Czenoble on a fundamental level. Could their accusations about his family really be true? He looked at his sister, asleep in her chair and sighed. Fauntleroy never would have forgiven himself if something had happened to Eva; he only hoped that Victoria Ann and Harrison were so fortunate. From the comfort of an airship the chaos in New Czenoble seemed insignificant. The massive fires, threatening the lives of countless citizens, lit up the city in a haunting glow. Had he not been there himself to witness it Fauntleroy would have called the scene ‘beautiful.’ Instead he turned his attention away from the window, and rested his head on his seat. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Soon they would arrive in High Czenoble shortly, and then, to Rosengard… “…I suppose father will take charge of Magitech. He is getting on in years, but there is simply no other suitable replacement.” Dawlish thought to himself for a moment before he finished his thought, “Although Aunt Catherine could just as easily fill the role.” Several Almagests stood in the gardens of Rosengard, quietly drinking and discussing the day’s affairs. Beatrise, Nellie, Henry and Morphia nodded in agreement as Dawlish spoke, each uncertain of what to say. Even though dinner had yet to begin it seemed that everyone was ready to have their cocktails early. “I didn’t think Catherine Sara had any interest in the company..?” Henry asked, stirring his cocktail softly. “She doesn’t,” Morphia replied bluntly, “But such an old man can’t be expected to take on all of those responsibilities by himself.” Nellie locked eyes with Morphia. It was obvious to the rest of the group that they shared some sort of history, although none were exactly sure what that was. “My father is as well as Uncle Leonhart ever was -- better even. My only concern is for his safety. If the accident is somehow connected to those kidnappings…” Nellie’s voice trailed off as her thoughts wandered. “Then putting him in such a prominent position would make him an even greater--!” Fauntleroy and Eva approached the group silencing the conversation immediately. All eyes turned to Eva, who seemed perfectly fine standing in front of them with her ragged gown. “Hello everyone,” Eva said softly, “I’m sure you all have questions to ask, but let us please save them for the morning…” She turned towards her sister, “Bea, are the children alright?” Beatriste’s eyes narrowed as she took a step towards Fauntleroy and slapped him across the face. “They’re fine, Eva,” she muttered, her open palm still raised in anger, “And how are you?” Fauntleroy clutched his face in pain, “What was that for!?” Beatriste leaned in closer, “If you so much as touch Victoria Ann again I’ll make sure you never step foot in Rosengard again. I don’t care what happened today; how could you?” Her eyes began to water as the crowd quietly dispersed, save for Morphia, who seemed to revel in watching the Almagests suffer. She took a sip of her glass of wine and grinned. "Let's go," Dawlish commanded, "I'm sure Dame Anna is waiting for us to begin dinner, anyway..." “Please. It wasn’t that simple, Bea,” Eva pleaded, “Neither of us had any idea that the children were in the steam car until we were well on our way to New Czenoble.” “You know Aunt Harriet’s condition… we had thought that both of the children were in school until neither of them arrived home. When we heard the story she nearly exploded!” “I’m sorry, but it was the children who--” Beatriste pointed at her brother bitterly, “Who are your responsibility! Of all the days to lose track of them, Fauntleroy! Do you have any idea how many terrible things could have happened t them? If someone had found out they were an Almagest they could have been kidnapped, or worse!” “You’re very lucky Jack and I found them when we did,” Morphia added as she headed towards the Great Hall, “Perhaps Leonhart was right about you, after all.” Fauntleroy rubbed his forehead, “I have no patience for any of this. Please, as long as they’re safe and sound and no harm was done. I love those brats far too much to let anything happen to them.” Eva wrapped her arms around Beatriste, “I understand, Bea. But please, this is as much my fault as it is Fauntleroy’s…” “Don’t you understand? I can’t lose another child... Especially not today. Definitely not today!” Fauntleroy reached for his sister’s hands, “What are you talking about? Did something else happen today…?” Beatriste closed her eyes and began to weep, “It’s father, Fauntleroy. Father is dead…”

This is a minor concern, but if the family is eating dinner please make sure that Beatriste is there. Also, perhaps Anna could also hand Vincent the threatening note Leonhart had received during the party..? [strike]Fonty and Eva won't return to Rosengard until much later in the evening, and we'll begin the next 'chapter' in the morning when all of Czenovia is on high alert.[/strike] Edit: I got bored, so they're back in time for dinner. Go nuts! -Shy

My original name on OB was Shyguy511: Shyguy was in honor of the Super Mario Bros. characters, and then 5/11 was my birthday. Sometime after version 2 ended I removed the numbers from my name, and a few years after that I took the 'guy' out as well. In spite of the edit, I assure you that I'm still very much a guy. Oddly enough I've been signing my posts with '-Shy' since long before that was my screenname. I originally just did it because I was trying to copy Justin and be cool. -Shy
Eva looked down at her tattered silk gown, torn to shreds by the rabid crowd. She remembered when her father had given it to her, celebrating her first day as a scientist at Prometheo Labs. Now her dress, like all of downtown New Czenoble, was being ripped apart as chaos spread throughout the crowded streets. She heard the profanities of angry young workers as they picked up stones and hurled them through the factory windows. It was pointless; in time many of the same workers would be paid by the Almagests to repair the damage. They act like children, she thought to herself, How could anyone receive equal treatment if the factories were destroyed? “A pretty young thing as yerself shouldn’t be ‘ere,” a gruff, older man warned Eva as she stepped over the factories’ collapsed iron gates. He had a thick, gray beard, covered with dirt and dust from the explosion. “Get out of ‘ere before you get hurt.” Eva narrowed her eyes, “I’m not going anywhere, you… anarchist! This property belongs to the Almagests!” The old man laughed as he picked up a large stone and tossed it carelessly, “Leonhart ain’t in no position to stop us anymore.” "...What does that mean?" “Marie! Marie Evangeline!“ A familiar hand grabbed Eva’s shoulder from behind, and she turned to discover her brother Fauntleroy standing behind her. “Oh thank goodnes,” the young man said as he clutched onto his sister tightly, “I feared the worst. Are you alright?” “I-- I’m fine. I just found myself incensed with this scene. What are we going to do?” Fauntleroy stared out at the factory with a troubled look on his face. He took a deep breath and sighed, “We’ll simply rebuild. It’s the only thing we can do.” Eva nodded in agreement, “Where are the children?” “I… I was hoping you knew the answer. They disappeared shortly after you did, in this mess.” “Oh my,” she replied as she held her hands together, “They must be terrified, and it‘s getting dark.” “Harrison is bright, like his father. He’ll get himself and Victoria Ann back to Rosengard. He has to.” “We‘ll have to keep looking for him…” “I hope you never find 'em,” the gruff stranger said coldly as he listened in on their conversation from afar, “You’re Almagests, aren’t you? You monsters have brought this upon yourself after all of these years…” Noticably shaken, Eva took a step to hide behind her brother. Fauntleroy bravely approached the old man, furious from what he had said. “Excuse me?” he asked bitterly, “Some poor factory worker? My family has done great things for all of Czenovia, who are you to call us such names?!” “Unlike you, I have worked my whole life for my family, Almagest, and it’s brought me nothing but pain. This factory poisons the air, pollutes the water and ruins everything it touches! Your lot are the real criminals.” Fauntleroy clenched his fist in anger, “ I'm sick of being threatened and pushed around by thugs all day. You have no idea what you’re talking about, you old fool, and I‘ll see to it that each and every one of you are punished.” "Faunteroy, please..." The crowd’s attention suddenly turned towards Fauntleroy’s heated exchange. Rioters both young and old began to form a circle around the two siblings. Eva tugged on her sibling’s sleeve, trying to silence him. The old man grinned madly as he moved closer and closer towards Fauntleroy, followed closely behind by a dozen men twice his size. “We’re not afraid of you anymore, wee Almagest. Get out of our city,” he commanded, “And be grateful that we don’t turn our bricks towards you as well.”

That night, Mikhail, Bright Eyes and Colin entered the doctor’s spacious livings quarters on the outskirts of Gallana. Colin had never been anywhere so luxurious before: on most occasions he and Bright Eyes were lucky just to share a mattress, but in the well-furnished office complex it seemed like that wouldn’t be a problem. Nearly a dozen large beds lined the walls, and everything was perfectly cleaned and sanitized. The laughter of children could be heard echoing from a hallway near the back, and a pale older woman greeted the trio. “Dr. Phantaxian, there‘s been a complication from last night‘s procedure--” The woman said with a cold, almost mechanical tone of voice. She had faded blonde hair held behind her in a bun, and wore a spotless white suit. Her expression remained unchanged as her eyes veered towards Colin and Bright Eyes. “It would seem you’ve brought another child.” “Yes,” Mikhail replied as he locked the door behind him, “This is Colin and his pet Bright Eyes. I found them in the city, and offered them our help.” “Of course. I‘ll prepare a change of clothes and a bed for the boy, but you are needed in the lab, doctor.” Mikhail motioned towards the woman, “Colin, this is Nurse Sola. She’ll be watching over you and the other children in case you should need anything.” “Thank you for taking us in, Nurse Solo.” Colin said with a warm smile. The woman’s voice became strained, “This matter needs your attention right away.” “I’m sure it can wait. Please, get Colin’s things ready for him while I scrub in.” Nurse Sola merely nodded, and walked towards a nearby locker containing clothes and bed linens. “Don’t mind her, Colin. She can be a bit… tough at times, but she does a very good job of keeping an eye on each and every one of you when I can’t be around.” “Oh, okay. What was she talking about?“ “It’s nothing for you to worry about. Some of our children here are very, very sick. While I do as much as I can, it’s not always enough to repair the damage they have received over the years.” Mikhail patted Colin on the back, “If you’d like to go in the recreation area I’m sure there will be some food for you and Bright Eyes. You both must be very hungry from your long day.” “Hungry? I’m starving!” “There are plenty of treats in there,” he said as he headed towards a set of double doors. He placed his hand on the door and after scanning his biometrics it unlocked, “I’ll be back shortly to check up on you…” Nurse Sola quietly placed a change of clothes and bedding on one of the beds, and followed closely behind Dr. Phantaxian. After changing into his new outfit, Colin and Bright Eyes headed down the long hallway towards the recreation area. It was another enormous space, even larger than the one they were in, and filled with children of his own age laughing and playing various games. They were all dressed in the same white uniform that Colin was, and seemed to be enjoying themselves greatly. "Wow!" A table containing fruits and sandwiches sat against the edge of the room, and he immediately rushed towards for it. The children seemed to be having so much fun that few of them noticed the boy and his dog enter. “This stuff looks really good, Bright Eyes!” Colin said as he began feeding his dog some of the sandwich meat, “Just look at all of this stuff!” A young girl, no older than Colin, approached him with a smile on her face. She had light skin and kept her mahogany-colored hair on both sides of her face in pigtails. “Is that your dog?” She asked excitedly, “Can I pet it?” Colin nodded as he took a bite of an apple, “Sure. Her name’s Bright Eyes. She‘s my best friend.” The girl laughed as Bright Eyes wagged its’ tail, “I used to have a dog, too, before I got sent here.” “What do you mean?” “We were very poor, and my brother was sick, so Mikhail said we could both live with him. My Mom didn’t have a lot of money, so she sent us with him so that he could take care of us.” “Oh,” Colin replied as he looked around the room, “Which one is your brother?” She shook her head sadly, “He’s not around anymore. He got too sick, and then he died.” “I’m sorry.” “It’s okay, that was a long time ago. Mikhail says that he’s going to try and find me a new family someday, so maybe I‘ll get a new brother.” Colin extended his hand towards the girl, “My name is Colin.” “I’m Tandy,” she said, “Let me show you all of the games we play here. It‘s a lot of fun if you don‘t get into any trouble.” “What happens if you get into trouble?” There was an uncomfortable moment of silence as Tandy’s demeanor suddenly changed. Her eyes narrowed as she leaned in closer to Colin, “If you’re bad Nurse Sola will take you away, and you’ll never come back.” Colin nearly choked on his apple as Tandy spoke. Maybe coming with Mikhail wasn’t such a good idea after all.
I've done a number of period RPGs, each to varying degrees of success. Viking don't really interest me, but I've always been very interested in Norse mythology. In Sandy's RPG, The Ragnarok, we had some fun doing our own interpretations of Gods and Goddesses, and although that wasn't the focus of the game it was definitely my favorite part. If someone were to take a unique approach on Norse in an RPG, I'd love to hear it. Having another chance to play as Loki would be great. You seem to be interested in taking a more straightforward approach on your RPG. While I'm very fond of Westerns, Romance and Fantasy I find that it's very difficult to put together a project without it seeming cliche. Still, there are a few ideas floating around in my head that I'd love to get out there someday. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. -Shy
I'm back!!! But give me a couple of days to catch up with everything (including sleep) before expecting a post from me.
I was going to make my next post all about Eva, but since you returned I decided to write about Fonty instead. I had some vague ideas for your character, maybe we can discuss it via PM or something. It would be nice to get Fonty out of High Czenoble, but I suspect he'll spend a great deal of time trying to find Victoria Ann and Harrison. Those troublesome kids! -Shy

Fauntleroy ran through the streets of New Czenoble, desperately hoping to find his family. Eva was old enough to take care of herself, but a city in turmoil was no place for the children. He had considered sending a wire to Rosengard for help, but knew it would only cause more trouble than anything else. Fauntleroy would be in more than enough trouble from taking Harrison and Victoria Ann out of High Czenoble, let alone losing them. Worse yet, the Royal Police Guard seemed too overwhelmed to provide any real help. They were able to escort him out of the carnage, but there was no guarantee they would be able to do the same for anyone else. He turned his attention towards the Artemis Airship Station. If his family had any brains at all they would try to make their way to Rosengard themselves, but there was no guarantee they would make it there safely. The Royal Police Guard were nowhere to be seen as the city descended further and further into chaos. He made a point of removing his coat and leaving it on the street behind him. With so many looters out there, Fauntleroy thought to himself, My sense of fashion is going to get me killed! The young man turned a corner to discover another large crowd formed in front of the station. Hundreds of families were camped out in front of the airships, each hoping to escape the turmoil around them. In the mob he recognized Charles, Bertram and Pearl, waiting in line to purchase tickets. Fauntleroy immediately pushed his way through the line to greet them. “Fauntleroy!” Charles exclaimed, “You are the last person I expected to see down here.” “Uncle Fonty!” Pearl said with a laugh as she latched onto Fauntleroy’s leg. "Yes, yes." Fauntleroy patted his niece on the head, “ Charles, have you seen Eva, or Harrison or Victoria Ann at all today?” “You mean they’re in New Czenoble? Today!?” he asked, “I can’t say that I have. I certainly hope they’re alright.” “They seem to have gotten lost in the crowd. If you see them, please make sure they make it back to Rosengard! Beatriste would kill me if something were to happen…” “I imagine she’s more occupied with the accident downtown.” “You mean the factories? Yes, they’re in ruins from that cursed rally. We’ll be lucky if they don’t destroy all of New Czenoble along with it.” “No-- not the factories, the-- ufgh!” Charles found himself interrupted with a forceful shove from behind. He turned around to discover several large men and women, noticeably upset at his group. “There ain’t no cutting in this line!” An older woman screamed, “Get yerself in the back with the rest of ‘em!” Fauntleroy rolled his eyes, “I’m merely trying to hold a conversation, ma’am. Please don’t be so forceful!” It was too late. Afraid that Fauntleroy was trying to work his way towards the front of the line, complete strangers began pulling him away by the collar. Charles could only watch, afraid of what the mob might do to him and his children should they interfere. “I’ll -keff! Speak to you later then!” Fauntleroy said as he being carried away. “Goodbye, Uncle Fonty!” Little Pearl said cheerfully as she waved. The crowd was kind enough not to trample Fauntleroy as he left the station, but the same could not be said for his camera bag. In a moment his new camera was crushed under the weight of a handful of young workers. He opened the bag, and discovered that only his mother’s old wooden camera remained unscathed. "...Just my luck." With a heavy sigh he withdrew the device and decided to head back towards the Celcius Complex to look for the others.

Not really, but it did have me wondering if there would be any more posts on the protests. Now that it's clear that there will be, Aaryanna and I have detailed something out so she will be following up on what I just posted. I hope you don't mind that we separated the group even more.
I don't mind at all. Fauntleroy is a terrible, terrible babysitter, so it only seems fitting that he has lost track of his entire group. Gavin: It looks like Catherine Sara is leaving Daedalus at the scene of the crime, so you might want to work out something with Vicent or other members of the RPG. There were some plans to focus on Catherine Sara at CHAOS, but there's no reason that can't be delayed until a little bit further. -Shy
EDIT #2: Officially confused... I sent a message to Sandy asking if the riot and the explosion were at the same location... He said no, so Shy, could you clarify this with me? I thought the riot was at Magitch factories and the explosion was at Prometheo Labs... It wouldn't really make sense to be running experiments in a factory, so I just assumed... :p I'll edit my post accordingly as soon as I receive a response.
I made that a little confusing in my post, so I apologize. It's a much smaller explosion than the one that blew up Prometheo Labs, and my next post (starring Eva) will delve into who started it. I also edited my original post to try and clarify things. I imagine this was especially confusing for indifference and Aaryanna, so sorry about that. My plan is for Fauntleroy, Harrison and Victoria is to try and get them out of New Czenoble as quickly as possible. Obviously with the fires at Prometheo Labs and Celcius Complex that is going to be difficult for them to do by steamcar, so they may have to make it by foot. Perhaps Jack and Morphia can get them out of town quickly, since they have access to their own airship. If anyone wants to pick up from where I left off, feel free, since my next post will feature Eva exclusively. Just make sure to coordinate with one another so that everyone isn't terribly confused. -Shy

OOC: I'm reposting this after Malkav's post to better help line-up the timeline.
Jack and Morphia had been friendly enough, but Fauntleroy had no interest in entertaining them for a second straight day. He gathered his family and placed them back inside of the steamcar. Even without them it would be a very long day, as they had much to see and do. Fauntleroy’s eyes widened as he stared out at a crowd of thousands, huddled together in front of the Magitech Corporation factor compound, The Celcius Complex. Many were carrying small banners and creating chaos as they attempted to storm the iron gates. Fauntleroy turned to Eva and commented on the scene before realizing that his voice, and all noise, was drowned out by the screaming and chanting of the mob. He felt Victoria Ann’s wrap around him tightly from behind, terrified from the claustrophobic scene around her. Had Fauntleroy known what was transpiring he never would have entered downtown with the children, but with the crowd blocking their path from behind it appeared that they had little choice but to move forward. The Celcius Complex was a testament to the decadence of the Almagest family. More than a simple collection of factories, each building was a work of art, and contained a level of detail and luxury unheard of in New Czenoble. While this was intended to uphold a standard of quality for the future, the Celcius Complex was viewed as an anachronism to the poor factory workers who toiled within it each day. After all, who could appreciate the beauty of architecture when their children were starving? An unruly member of the crowd began throwing things at the steamcar. A large rock crashed against Eva's window, startling her. “I think we’ve seen quite enough!” She shouted above the voices of the crowd, “This is getting out of control!” Fauntleroy nodded, and motioned towards the handful of Royal Police Guards separating his steamcar from the protesters. A single guard approached the vehicle. “Lord Almagest, are you alright?” “We have to turn around!” Fauntleroy said, “This is no place for the children!” The man nodded in agreement, “Certainly, Lord Almagest. We’ll do everything we can to clear a--” Suddenly the sound of sirens blared, interrupted by that of a small explosion coming from the gates of the Celcius Complex. The ground began to tremble, and screams filled the air as dozens of protesters finally managed to break through the gates. Eva panicked. “The factory!” she exclaimed, “They're trying to get into the factories!” Without thinking, the young woman stepped out of the steamcar to survey the damage. Fauntleroy called in vain for his sister to get back inside the vehicle. In an instant she was gone, her figure disappearing into the fire’s thick black smoke. “Lord Almagest!” the guard commanded as he pounded on the steamcar's window, “We must get you to safety at once!” Fauntleroy turned around, staring into the terrified eyes of Harrison and Victoria Ann, “What about my sister?!” “We will do everything we can to find her, but your safety is our first priority.” Harrison looked outside to see several bloodied young workers, no older than him, being trampled from the frenzied mob. He quickly turned his head away, making sure to cover the eyes of Victoria Ann. “Dammit Eva…” Fauntleroy thought to himself as he turned his car away from the factory, “I’m so sorry I have to do this…” “Very well, Captain! Get us out of here. Now!”
I did have a lot of fun with this game, but the posts became too repetitive for my tastes. The point system in its' current form is obviously flawed, but it definitely made for an interesting creative exercise. Thank you for letting me take part in it, Sandy! I'm very glad that Charlotte won: she was my favorite character, and even though I did not win it still feels like I accomplished something. Kudos to Rach for tricking everyone into thinking that Marta was Sandy's, heh. This was a great cast to work with, and I love RP-ing with you guys. I can't wait to see what we come up with next. -Shy

This is just a heads-up to let everyone know that I'll be out of town for about a week beginning Wednesday (two days from now) and that my internet access will be severely limited as a result. I expect to get another Almagest post up and running before I leave, and hopefully set my particular story in the right direction so that indifference, Aaryanna and Sakura can take care of things while I'm away. -Shy
While the two siblings had spent their entire lives in High Czenoble, neither were very familiar with its' sister city at the bottom of Mount Grail. Unlike the hills and estates they had come to know, this town was a dense, confusing maze of factories and apartments. Traveling around New Czenoble was difficult, if not impossible, for an outsider to navigate through. As Fauntleroy found his elegant steamcar stuck in traffic he began to wonder if he shouldn’t have brought a map. “This is absurd, Fonty!” Eva exclaimed, “Can’t you take a side road or something?” “I don’t know this mess any better than you do. If we don’t stick to the main roads who knows where we'll end up.” Victoria Ann lowered her head timidly as an intimidating chimaera passed by on the opposite end of the road. “This place is awful and dirty, Aunt Eva!” the girl cried, “Can’t we stop and get something to eat?” “When your Uncle stops and asks for directions perhaps we'll be able to get some breakfast then!” "We're not lost.... at least not exactly. Everyone keep your eyes open for the rally." Harrison nodded, “What is this rally supposed to be about, anyhow?” Eva turned around to face the children, “You see, the people who work for our Magitech company are unhappy with how they are being treated. They want more pay, less work, and all kinds of things like that.” “That doesn't sound like a bad thing, is it?” Harrison asked. “It’s not as simple as that, Harrison,” Eva replied, “Things have been like this since your father's grandfather discovered Magitechnology in the first place. If we pay them more we’ll have to charge more the products we produce. If that happens, people might turn to our competition….” “And before you know it we’d be begging on the streets, too.” Fauntleroy added as he honked his horn in frustration, “Rotten carriages! What is the hold-up?” Eva laughed softly as she patted her brother on the back, “Beatriste and Aunt Harriet are going to bite your head off when they find out where you took the children,” Eva said with a sly grin. “When we stop we’ll send them a wire to let them know what is going on,” Fauntleroy replied, “No doubt Aunt Harriet has alerted half of the Royal Police Guard by now…” Harrison pointed towards a member of the guard standing in the middle of the road, blocking traffic from all sides, “Hey, there’s an RPG now! I wonder if they know Nellie.” The guardsman approached the steam car and Fauntleroy opened his window, “Excuse me officer, but what is taking so long?” “I’m afraid I can’t let you pass, sir. This area of the city is blocked off for today’s rally.” “Oh good!” Eva said cheerfully, “Then we’re not lost, after all.” Fauntleroy glared, “Why would the Dynast waste valuable manpower on something as trivial as a rally?” The guard motioned towards a large crowd looming on the horizon, “There isn’t much of a choice, sir. With so many of the factory workers blocking the streets there is nowhere for the steamcars and carriages to go. I suggest you turn around as quickly as you can because…” Fauntleroy raised an eyebrow in suspicion, “I’m afraid you are confused. My name is Fauntleroy Almagest, and this is Marie Evangeline Almagest. We’d like to see firsthand what kind of mess our workers are creating for this miserable town.” Eva smiled, “Perhaps there’s some way we can get an escort? I know Assistant Commander Achard would consider it a personal favor...” "Commander Achard? Yes ma'am!" The guard saluted, and began clearing a path for the steamcar to travel through.
What will make your Death Card RPG different than The Ragnarok? Also: Since you said that your attempt was to tie the first three games together somehow; would this new game still be any fun for those of us who did not participate in the originals? -Shy
Even if they (Pokemon) aren't in every scene doing cutesy things, I would still think that Pokemon is a big thing in the world. I mean if they were just pets that people had and could find in the wild would we really go to all the trouble of having a special unit to find killers and whatnot? We certainly don't do that for animals. :P I'm still a bit hazy on how you guys are merging Pokemon in with this whole thing. Also, I know most of the Pokemon won't be "awakened" but can the Pokemon understand humans? Even if they can only respond with their name.
I mean, Pokemon are a huge part of the world, but I meant to say that I'd like there to only be a few Pokemon involved in the investigation and judicial proccess. The more sparingly they are used in the story, the larger impact their appearances will have..? And yes, I would expect that most Pokemon have some ability to understand and interact with humans. There are obviously different degrees of intelligence; a Ratata isn't going to be as smart as an Alakazam, and that Pokemon's relationship with their owner will reflect that. Under no circumstances would a Pokemon's testimony be admissible as evidence in court. I imagine there are certain people who have grown to resent Pokemon in general, so in most cases the Poke-cops would have to rely on good ol' fashioned detective work to solve these crimes. -Shy

I'd like to keep the actual Pokemon interaction to a minimum. Pokemon will definitely be the focus of the RPG, but I'd rather this not be one of those RPGs where the Pokemon are in every scene doing cute and adorable things. There will probably be more Poke-corpses than anything else, actually. The courtroom stuff sounds like it might be a little complicated. When I don't have a pounding headache I will try to wrap my head around it. Since interest in the project might be low I think breaking things down into smaller 'Episodes' would be for the best. Justin and myself are obviously interested in posting, so we'd only need a couple of more. Perhaps the two of us could do a test run in Anthology which might also generate some interest. Pokemon... our way? -Shy
