1.
Hmm... methinks that Nellie will be traveling with the Princess (would that be in New Czenoble or High Czenoble?). Anyone who wants to bump into either one of them (hopefully not literally) might be able to come along :D
The alchemist kidnappings have only targeted prominent upper-class families so far, so Augustine will likely be in High Czenoble during these visits. Please feel free to elaborate on how exactly these crimes happened and who the victims are. Sandy and I obviously know who is committing these kidnappings, but that will be revealed later on. -Shy
  2.
As it turns out, Malkav and I are planning our own adventure of sorts as well. It could be quite exciting if they all bumped into each other in New Czenoble...although I haven't a clue as to why Fauntleroy would go there. Looking forward to the new landmarks!
Meeting up with Jack and Morphia would be great. New Czenoble is such a different city than High Czenoble, it's going to be interesting to see how these charactesr view the place. The next Landmark is up and the party is over. The plot should be heading forward pretty quickly from here on out, so look forward to that. There will be another Landmark soon, although I obviously can't tell you much more than that. Great posts everyone. As always, put your questions and comments here! -Shy
The evening was drawing to a close, and many of the guests were beginning to leave. Fauntleroy was growing tired himself, not only of the pomp and circumstance surrounding the evening but also of his father’s disapproval. The two had passed one another at least a dozen times in the Great Hall without exchanging a single word, and while most of the party guests were oblivious to this snub it was slowly driving the young Almagest insane. Fauntleroy was pacing on the balcony when he noticed his nephew Charles enter from the Grand Hall. The two exchanged a nod, and Fauntleroy noticed that the man looked even more unhappy than he did. “Is everything alright, Charles?” he said as he leaned against a large stone gargoyle. The two were never very close, but Fauntleroy had always taken sympathy to the young widower. “I’m doing alright, I suppose,” Charles muttered as he took a sip of champagne, “I always feel like such an outcast when I attend these functions.” Fauntleroy nodded, “I assure you that it’s not any better from the inside looking out. When did you get back in High Czenoble?” “Just an hour or so ago. I was hoping to spend some time with Bertram and Pearl before the evening began, but once again I found myself running late.” “Perhaps tomorrow then? “I’ll be in High Czenoble for the next few days. I’m hoping to take them to the Dynast Zoo, since Pearl love animals so much...” “I’m not sure if she does anymore, actually. She walks around Rosengard in a lab coat pretending to be a potionist, like her Aunt Alecia.” “Oh,” Charles replied, “It’s amazing how much can change in only a few short weeks, isn’t it?” The two stood in silence as they looked out at the gardens below. “What did you end up getting your father for his birthday, Fauntleroy?” "I’d like to think my presence is simply enough. And you?” “Nothing, actually. Beatriste handed me the most beautiful silver box I had ever seen and I gave it to him… I’m not even sure what it was for, but he seemed to like it well enough,” Charles said with a heavy sigh, “Elizabeth was always so much better at these sorts of things. It seems like only yesterday that the three of us were standing here during Leonhart’s 60th birthday celebration.” “Yes. We seem to do a lot of hiding at these functions, don’t we?” Charles nodded and the two men laughed. Fauntleroy raised his glass, “To the balcony?” “And to Leonhart Almagest. For without him, we wouldn’t have a balcony to hide on.” "Cheers." Flight Fauntleroy awoke the next morning to find Rosengard as clean and as beautiful as ever. The servant staff had worked tirelessly overnight removing any mess that the party had created. In fact, the only reminder Fauntleroy could find of the night before was his dull, lingering headache. He rubbed his forehead as he dressed for the day’s work. After neglecting to write his article the night before no doubt his editors at The Chronicle would want to speak with him. He was about to exit his bedroom when he noticed a small wooden camera sitting in his nightstand. A small note was attached: “I found Mother’s camera while going through some of her things. Maybe you can use it. - Beatriste.” Fauntleroy already had a camera, a very expensive one, but he tossed the antique into his bag and headed downstairs for a late breakfast. Sitting around the dining room table were his sisters Eva and Beatriste, gossiping to one another about the night before as they enjoyed their meal. At the other end of the table was Henry, quietly reading the latest issue of The Chronicle. “Good morning, Fonty!” Eva said cheerfully as she summoned a kitchen servant with a small bell, “We were wondering when you would get up.” Fauntleroy sat down at the table and poured himself a cup of coffee, “I must have gotten to bed later than I realized… where is everyone?” Beatriste sighed, “Father and Macey left for work early this morning, and Aunt Catherine volunteered to show the new Headmaster of Chaos around the campus. She must have taken Victoria Ann with her because she was gone when I woke up.” A servant placed an enormous tray of food before Fauntleroy. He grabbed a single bagel and waved his hand dismissively at the rest, “And what are you up to today, Eva?” “I’m going with you to New Czenoble.” Fauntleroy’s eyes widened, “Excuse me?” “You got a wire this morning, Fauntleroy, Henry said as he thumbed through the pages of the newspaper, “The Chronicle doesn’t sound very pleased with you, and they want you to go back to New Czenoble to cover today’s rally.” “Ugh, as if anyone cares what the factory workers have to say,” he replied crudely, “Isn‘t there any real news happening in Czenovia today?” “It won’t be too bad, Fonty. Besides, father wants me to keep an eye on the Magitech factories. The last thing he wants is for production to be slowed down by these protests.” “Very well,” Fauntleroy said, “Henry, can you get someone to ready one of my steamcars? It’s such a lovely day out, we’ll have an airship ferry us down the mountain so that we can drive ourselves...” Henry tossed his newspaper against the table in anger, “I’m not one of your servants, Fauntleroy. You can get the damned carriage yourself! Beatriste stirred her coffee as Henry stormed out, “You shouldn’t be so hard on the boy, Fonty. You know he’s just as much your family as Anna is.” “That’s a conversation for another day, dear sister. Now let’s get going, Eva. We have a long day ahead of us.” Eva nodded, “Yes, let’s.” “Well they both certainly have their father’s temper…” Beatriste mused as Fauntleroy and Eva left the room. She pulled Henry’s newspaper in front of her and took a sip of her coffee, “It seems that I’m all by myself today… perhaps now I can finally get some rest.” Landmark 02
I've never really thought that double-posting was a huge issue in Anthilogy threads, since in most cases the mods choose to overlook it (or at least some have in the past.) That forum isn't active enough to support discussion about everything posted in it, so if someone is posting a lot of poems or short stories I don't see an issue with them double/triple-posting. My concern is that most fan-fiction is episodic in nature, so splitting the story into multiple posts is more natural. But the entire thing really seems like a non-issue. -Shy
  5. Just a heads up to everyone that I'll be wrapping up the birthday party and moving onto the next chapter in the story tomorrow. There is still plenty of time for players to post, though, so I encourage everyone to do that. We still haven't seen a post from Jacob (Matt,) so I hope he makes it to the party before it's too late. -Shy
  6.
SunfallE: I believe that in your latest post you meant the health care of New Czenoble, since I'm sure the wealthy families of High Czenoble get the best possible treatment. ;D I want to emphasize that even though these two cities are very near to each other in distance, they are totally different. The aristocrats of High Czenoble basically rule New Czenoble, since their factories employ most of the citizens there.
It was actually Rachmaninoff who posted, heh.
"So how have the two of you been? I understand you've been quite vocal with your views for health care in High Czenoble Alecia."
I interpreted this statement as Alecia Ann being unhappy with the large differences in treatment for citizens of the two cities. So while health care might be better in High Czenoble, it's still a broken system that needs reform. Or maybe it was a typo. I don't know, I'm only playing devil's advocate. :whoops: -Shy

His father’s small entourage was drawing dangerously close to the young man, and the last thing Fauntleroy would like is a forced confrontation, especially given his current inebriation. Perhaps we’ll talk later in the evening, he thought to himself as he stumbled out of the ballroom, “When he’s not being so childish.” A trio of familiar faces greeted Fauntleroy as he exited the ballroom: those belonging to Henry, Jack and.. Morphia, was it? They were engaged in conversation, quietly criticizing both the décor and the guest list. Fauntleroy couldn’t agree more. “Hello Fauntleroy!” Jack said warmly as he shook the man’s hand, “How are you doing these days? Still working for Prometheo Labs?” “I… believe you’re thinking of my sisters,” Fauntleroy replied dryly, “Last I heard of you Lady Bavaria was keeping you isolated inside of the Czenovian embassy for political asylum.” Jack wrapped his arm around Fauntleroy and laughed, “That’s a great story, too. You’d be surprised at how viciously the rest of the New Globe views Czenovian entrepreneurs such as myself. It’s a dangerous world out there, you know.” “So I‘ve heard,” Henry added, “My Mother had told me that you had a bit too much to drink. Are you alright, Fonty?” Fauntleroy cringed. While the two had grown up in close proximity, he would never think of Dame Anna’s son as anything but a servant, “I’m doing quite fine, thank you. I was only stepping out to get some fresh air.” Morphia nodded her head, “The balcony seems to be… occupied. I saw your sister and Vincent head towards that way almost an hour ago.” “Perhaps one of the other balconies then," he replied as he admired Morphia's gown, "Miss Deacon. While I question your company, I must say you look lovely tonight.” She revealed a small smile, “Mother insisted on the extravagance. If she has it her way the two of us would be engaged by Spring.” Fauntleroy raised an eyebrow in suspicion, “You know as well as anyone that I’m… not the marrying type.” “What can I say? I welcome a challenge.” Beautiful music began to echo through the Grand Hall, catching Morphia’s ears. She closed her eyes for a moment to relish the sounds she was hearing. ”Do you recognize the song, dear sister?” Jack asked, “It’s what they played at Bavaria’s wedding.” She clasped her hands together, “Such a wonderful piece. I remember that day well, even though I was just a young girl…” Henry narrowed his eyes, “I don’t believe I was invited.” “You didn’t miss much, Henry,” Fauntleroy muttered as he took a sip of his orange juice, “When it comes to that wedding most of us would prefer to pretend it never happened in the first place.” “My sister is a good woman,” Jack said as he clenched his fist, “If you only knew how it pained her to live in self-imposed exile while you children soiled your father’s good name...” “Please, Jack, let him live in denial,” Morphia turned her head away in disgust, “I find that’s a recurring theme with The Almagests. Or are you and Leonhart on speaking terms again?” Fauntleroy bit his lower lip and there was an awkward moment of silence. Henry looked around the Grand Hall. Although few had noticed the brief exchange, he felt as if the eyes of the room were on them. “This is getting rather heated. I wonder if we shouldn’t step out onto the balcony ourselves.” “A splendid idea!” Jack exclaimed as he patted Henry on the back, “I have an interesting business opportunity I’ve been meaning to discuss with you anyway, Fauntleroy…” “I’ll pass for now,“ Fauntleroy replied as he turned to Jack, “But if you don’t mind, good sir, I’d like to borrow the lady for a dance.” “You’ve got to be joking…” Morphia’s eyes lit up as she curtsied, “Why Fonty, I thought you’d never ask!” An Almagest would never admit defeat, and Fauntleroy had learned from his father that some battles required a unique solution. When dealing with the Deacons such was the case; it would take all of Fauntleroy’s strength to keep his temper in check. That, and a little more champagne...
8. Without giving too much away, the next Landmark will contain a series of plot points for the players to interpret however they like. Some will be relatively vague, while others much more specific; in any case players are always welcome to ignore those directions and do their own thing. Expect it to come up within the next few days, but right now there is plenty of time left to explore the party. -Shy
  9.
Sorry, Sandy, but I don't see the difference between the image you linked to and the original one unless I've seriously overlooked something O.o;;
The only major addition is the Almagest family crest, and the inclusion of more members of the Deacon bloodline. It's nothing too major, but expect more additions and revisions to the family tree as the story progresses. We'll be wrapping up the party in the next few days, and move forward with the next part of the game. Those who haven't yet posted should try and do so soon. Sakura: Do you mind if I borrow your character while you are away? Fauntleroy is going to have a bit of an adventure in New Czenoble, and could use the company. Anyone else is welcome to attend; perhaps a stowaway young relative of sorts..? -Shy

    The Almagest Legacy

Leonhart moved his way through the large crowd effortlessly, stopping just long enough to accept the compliments and salutations befitting of a man on his 65th birthday. He had no interest in speaking with some of the family longer than he had to, but it was his duty as a gentleman to disguise that fact. Dame Anna stayed close to his side throughout much of the evening, wandering off periodically to scold a wayward servant. “Are you enjoying yourself Leonhart?” Anna asked as she adjusted the lace on her white apron, “The guests seem to be having a lovely time.” “Catherine and yourself should be proud. How the two of you can arrange such a large event with your busy schedules is beyond me.” The two shared a glance. Anna blushed. “We certainly try our best. There were so many potential guests that, to be perfectly honest, we had to push back several well-wishers at the gates, per your request.” Across the room and past the dancing couples, Leonhart noticed his son slouching against a chair. “It would seem that a few of the riff-raff managed to make it through nonetheless.” “Please don’t speak so poorly of Fauntleroy. You should go over there and talk to the boy.” Leonhart huffed, “If he weren’t so childish, my son would have greeted me first.” An older servant approached the two, and bowed his head as he greeted them. “Master Leonhart, Dame Grimalkin,” he said as he presented Leonhart with a small black box, wrapped in a single strand of yarn, “There is a… situation with one of the gifts. It requires your immediate attention.” Leonhart opened the package to discover a dead rat lying inside of the box, clearly poisoned. Anna covered her mouth in disgust as he removed a small note from the container and read it aloud. “You are not a monster, but a mouse. Equal rights for all -- or fear the worst.” “This is very serious,” Anna said with a stern look across her face, “I’ll tell our guests right--” “You will do no such thing, Anna! With so much turmoil in High Czenoble, it‘s only natural that the crisis would reach the walls of Rosengard eventually. I only wonder who delivered it.” The servant nodded his head, “The package was dropped off moments ago, sir. There was no card attached, which is why we opened it.” “You’ve done the right thing by showing me this,” Leonhart said as he placed his hand on the man’s shoulder, “Now please dispose of it quickly. The last thing I want to do is ruin everyone’s evening by being alarmist.” “Alarmist? We’ve all read about the kidnappings in The Chronicle. You know someone is out there kidnapping prominent alchemists. What if you are the next target!?” Anna’s raised voice began to draw attention from the party guests. “Watch your tone, Dame Anna. You know better than to behave like this.” "Hmpf!" she snatched the box from Leonhart’s hands, “I’ll handle the matter personally. If you won’t let me cancel the party I’m at least going to inform Alexander and Vincent about thiings. I’ll feel much safer if members of the Royal Police Guard are on alert…” Fauntleroy noticed Dame Anna's grim demeanor as she walked past him and towards the kitchen. "Is everything alright, Anna?" The old woman let out a heavy sigh. "Nothing to bother yourself with, Fauntleroy. It's only a revolution."
11.
The group approached the doors from a narrow chamber when suddenly the lights began to flicker wildly. In an instant they had shut off entirely, leaving Dr. Rhodes and the others in the dark. “What just happened?” Colonel DeSouza asked, “Dr. Rhodes, check your instruments to see what is the cause of this.” Nakeisha stared at her handheld diagnostics system, whose screen had also gone dark, “This phenomenon isn’t limit to the space station’s power, sir. It‘s my instruments as well.” The others checked their own electronic tools only to confirm her findings. “This is strange,” Teresa commented, “Could an EMP blast have done this?” Dr. Rhodes shrugged, “If that were the case we all would have died when the space station lost power to it’s artificial atmosphere. Except for me, of course, since I’m the only one who had the foresight to bring a vacuum suit...” “So it can’t be a complete power loss.” “Probably not. It looks like whoever, or whatever did this is targeting very specific equipment to keep us from breaching the power supply. If they wanted us harmed they could have done so already.” “I’ve lost communications with the Agro Navis,” DeSouza said angrily, “Are they in any danger if they’ve lost power as well?” “Even in a full loss of power the Agro Navis has enough failsafes to prevent any immediate harm to the crew.” “We can’t be left in the dark like this,” he replied, “Perhaps we should move forward anyway.” “That’s impossible,” Teresa said, “The doors and walls surrounding a starship’s power center are often thick enough to be used as an airlock, and to protect any harmful radiation. They are opened and closed by enormous hydraulic lifts, we could never get those open by ourselves.” “Well what do you suggest?” Colo DeSouza asked, “It’s likely that whatever is preventing us from entering can only be accessed from within those doors.” Nakeisha rolled her eyes, “My scientific opinion is to sit and wait, Colonel. We could look elsewhere in the space station for an open entrance, but it would be impossible find anything in total darkness.” “We can’t just sit and wait, the rest of the crew might be dying as we speak.” “Don’t confuse my logic with a lack of compassion, Colonel. But we only have so many options without power.” Suddenly the lights began to flicker again, and soon full power was restored to the ship. Dr. Rhodes instruments begin to reboot, and Colonel DeSourza was able to regain communication with the Agro Navis. The two exchanged an awkward glance, and the young woman marched proudly towards the entrance to the power supply. “Oh, delightful!” Dr. Rhodes exclaimed cheerfully, “Now that there’s nothing left to argue about, Colonel, let’s go inside and be heroes now, shall we?”
12.
I hope I haven't used Leonhart too much in my post. Also, Shy, I hope you don't mind that I mentioned your character in passing. Tell me if you have any problems with it, and I'll fix it right away.
No, not at all. Everyone should feel free to use Leonhart as much as they'd like during the party. Establishing your relationship with him would be beneficial for all characters, since he'll be playing a central role in the story. And mentioning my character was perfectly fine; I adore Morphia, so I 'll try to get them to interact before the party's through. James: In my last post I didn't mean to make it appear that anyone in the family was disrespecting you. Eva and Macey are probably very close, so I thought it was fitting that she held a bit of a grudge against Vincent. Obviously that's not the case with Beatriste, Leonhart and the rest since they seem to adore him. If anything was off with my post just let me know. -Shy

It depicted a strong young man wrestling with a ferocious lion, clearly overpowered but nonetheless frozen in time forever, continuing his struggle for all eternity. “This is a beautiful piece,” Vincent said, “I don’t know how familiar you are with my homeland of Anova, but the lion is often used to symbolize my great nation. The young man represents society, and the need to ‘tame the beast,‘ so to speak…” “It doesn’t look like they’re making very much progress.” “No, I suppose not,” he laughed, “But that is the nature of things, isn‘t it? Neither is willing to submit, for that would almost certainly mean death.” "Almost certainly, yes," Fauntleroy replied as eyed his champagne flute suspiciously, “It appears that my glass is dry. We should be getting back to the party.” Vincent nodded in agreement and they began heading towards the grand ballroom. “How is she?“ he asked timidly, “I mean, is Macey doing alright these days? I haven‘t seen her in -- it must be--” “She’s dealing with it, I suppose. The entire family is. Fortunately, she can bury herself in her work...” Fauntleroy adjusted his hat, “...As you no doubt know by now, your entire mess has brought a great deal of shame onto we Almagests. The funny thing is, most of them don‘t know the whole story.” “That’s not fair to pin so much blame on me,“ Vincent replied, “My intention was never to hurt her.” “I didn’t mean to point blame, only to answer your question as best I could. You have nothing to apologize for, even if things did turn out a little messy. Pardon the cliché, but all is fair in love and war.” Trembling slightly, Fauntleroy placed his champagne glass on the floor. “I’ve reached my limit, and before the party has even begun!” he said with a laugh, “It appears I find you intoxicating.” “And how are you doing these days, Fonty?” Fauntleroy feigned a smile, “I’m dealing with it. Being absurdly wealthy certainly seems to help.” They entered the grand ballroom, quickly drawing the attention of Marie Evangeline from across the way. She glanced at Vincent curiously before ultimately turning her back to him altogether. Another familiar face, that of his beloved sister Beatriste Elyse welcomed the pair with a warm smile as they approached. The room was filling up quickly, and so was the large table designated to hold Leonhart’s gifts. Fortunately for Fauntleroy, his father was nowhere to be seen. “It’s so good to see you Vincent,” Beatriste said as she wrapped her arms around him in a warm embrace, “I’ve been meaning to visit you in Anova, but the children are keeping me busier than ever.” “And where are Bertram and Pearl? They must be keeping Rosengard on high alert.” She rolled her eyes, “Not to mention Victoria Ann, and she’s supposed to help me babysit! On more than one occasion I‘ve woken up in the middle of the night to find them playing in the hedge maze.” Beatriste extended her gloved hand to Vincent and he kissed it softly, “If you’ve done half the job with them as you have with Alecia Ann, I’ve no doubt they’ll grow up to be another fine member of the Almagest family.” “It’s so very good to see you again,” she said as she blushed, “If only Macey had any sense she would have held onto a fine gentleman such as yourself.” Fauntleroy and Vincent shared a glance, and Fauntleroy chuckled to himself. “Perhaps I should leave you two to catch up,” he said, “We can chat later, Vincent.” Vincent nodded as he escorted Beatriste to the dance floor. Dancing with his former sister-in-law wasn’t his idea of a great evening, but at least it would keep Macey Ellen away from the time being. “That reminds me, Fauntleroy,” Beatriste said, “I found something of Mom’s you might find useful. It’s waiting for you in your bedroom.” Fauntleroy‘s eyes widened, “Sounds interesting. I’ll be sure to check it out when I stumble in at around sunrise.” “Oh please try to behave yourself!” his sister snapped, “Between the Deacons and Macey Ellen, father might be too distracted to remember that he disowned you.” The young Almagest glared as he watched the two begin their Czenovian Waltz. Vincent struggled with the basic coordination required for the dance, but Beatriste moved as gracefully as she had twenty years before. Although she had taken on the role of mother and grandmother, Beatriste Elyse Almagest would always be a dancer at heart. A servant walked by Fauntleroy, offering him a drink. “No more hard liquor tonight, but could you get me a glass of orange juice instead?” he asked. Out of the corner of his eye Fauntleroy saw his father descent down the ballroom’s spiral staircase. A small wave of applause washed across the room, and Fauntleroy nervously tugged at his shirt collar. “Actually, maybe I should have stuck with the champagne after all.”
14.
just wanted to ask about the airships in the game. will they be oversized blimps or sky-faring galleons? or better still, designed to our hearts content? I personally like the blimp like designs also Victoria Ann should so sit near Jack during the party...just a suggestion based on our two characters.
There will be all kinds of airships, so there's really no restrictions on what kinds of airships you have. Feel free to come up with whatever you want. As for the party, while food will be served it won't exactly be a dinner. Other players seemed to have envisioned it as a grand ball, but I encourage you to interact with as many other characters as you see fit. -Shy
  15.
Anyway, I should have a post ready sometime today. Just OOC Sandy/Josh, what kind of limits do I need to be looking at for Daedalus' work in terms of size or power ? Your little line about his most powerful ones being hidden away intrigues me.
Most of Daedalus' most powerful creations are strictly confidential to the citizens of Czenovia, but expect things like enormous steam-powered airships, tanks and the like. There are also weapons of mass destruction in the Czenovian arsenal, but most of these were created with the intention that they never actually be used. There are no real limits in terms of size and power; some of Daedalus' creations could easily destroy a large city like High Czenoble. I'd try to keep it vague for the time being. Some of these weapons may play into the larger story eventually, but that's in the very distant future. Remember that aside from Leonhart, the rest of the Almagests would be in the dark about these weapons. -Shy
  16.
My first idea really is just an idea. No title or plot has been thought of yet, just a kind of genre I guess. It's a very vague spin off of Star Wars, with the idea of the "Force". Except, this "force", is brought out when someone drinks one of two flavors of soda. Orange soda, the light side of the "force", and Grape soda, the dark side. There comes a point in time when every kid has to choose between the two. Most people would have a problem here, as I have yet to see someone say they didn't like one of the two. Once the kid chooses which one they want to drink for the rest of their life, they can't drink the other... without suffering some major consequence. Also, as with choosing sides, their are multiple factions, or gangs as they would be called in the rp, in each side of the "force". Some gangs may even disagree with their own side of the "force". For instance, one Grape side gang, may want to use the grape powers to conquer the world, while a different grape side gang would want to use them to destroy the world. Maybe an orange side gang would want to use their powers to help the weak and protect the poor, while a different one would use their powers to obtain places of authority. (I never said the light side was a goody-two-shoes type.)
This is easily one of the most bizarre things I've ever read on the boards. Cheers to you, good sir! I would really enjoy hearing any ideas you might have for characters or the storyline. Right now it's really too broad an idea to judge one way or another. Speaking of broad ideas...
RPG TItle: Son of Tetris [PG-V] Genre: Action/Video Games Basic Summary: In the future, the world's most beloved video game heroes have retired, passing on their legacy of platforming and adventure to their children. Unfortunately, not all of them are willing to to follow in their parents' footsteps and have instead decided to use their powers and abilities for evil. Donkey Kong Jr. has been murdered, and a team of specialists has been assembled to solve the case. This investigation will take them through a variety of gaming worlds. This would be similar to Project Gamer, but play out more like a noir murder mystery. 17.
I was wondering if it was at all possible for my character to begin a relationship with an NPC. In particular Meredyne Artemis. I know that she's a part of Charlie's history, but I thought it might make a fun conflict between our characters. I mean they're the same age and at the same time completely different. I'm just saying... Throwing it out there for the dogs to eat up.
Any player should feel free to introduce as many NPCs as they would like. Obviously more important NPCs (such as members of the Dynast Royal Family, or the Deacons) would require permission before you do anything drastic with them, but as a general rule we trust the players. Hopefully you and Darren can work out some arrangement regarding Meredyne, since this love triangle sounds interesting. If anyone has any suggestions for future editions of The Chronicle, I would love to hear them. I know we've been pretty broad in describing Czenovia, so if there are any subjects in particular that might need clarification this would be a good time to know. Great posts so far everyone. I can't wait to see what the other players come up with. -Shy :whoops:
  18. I don't object to the use of steamcars, but they're probably much too expensive for the general public to use. While most citizens travel around Czenovia in airships and trains, it's likely that the Almagest clan would use some form of private transporation to get around. -Shy
  19. I posted a link to the family tree in the main thread but I thought I would also post the image here. It's a beautiful piece of work, and should help on clearing up any confusion. After spending his day writing about the plight of factory workers in New Czenoble, the young man was more than ready to return to his life of luxury. To some the lush gardens and extravagant lifestyle of the Almagests seemed excessive, but for Leonhart’s four children it was the only life they had ever known. “Being a photog is exhausting!” Fauntleroy exclaimed as he motioned for a garden worker to carry his camera bag, “I certainly hope The Chronicle doesn’t bury my article in the back like the rest of my work...” “Uncle Fonty!” a familiar voice called out excitedly. A young girl with dark pigtails rolled out from behind a large rose bush and quickly embraced Fauntleroy. With her white sleeveless shirt and red gloves she looked as if she was an airship pilot. “Hello Victoria,” he said with a smile, “It looks like your mother bought you another delightful costume.” “It’s not a costume, it’s a uniform!” the girl huffed, “I’ve decided that I’m going to work for Artemis Air Transports when I get older.” “So you’re going to be an airship pilot? Didn’t you want to be a professor like Aunt Catherine last time I saw you?” Victoria Ann rolled her eyes, “Oh please, that was ages ago! Now I’d much rather be a pilot than a boring old professor, or a dorky photog…” “Watch your language, young girl!” a shrill voice commanded from behind Victoria Ann, startling her. The girl turned around to discover Lady Anna Grimalkin, house matron of Rosengard, staring down at her with an annoyed look on her face. “Dame Anna!” Victoria Ann shrieked, “I’m sorry, ma’am. I didn’t know you were there!” Anna pointed her finger towards the house, “Go inside see and if your mother or Catherine need any help preparing for the party. And try to be more respectful to your elders, missy!” Victoria Ann nodded, and quietly walked into the house. Fauntleroy laughed. “You’re still running this house like an army base, aren’t you Anna?” “It’s because we have an army living here!” she replied, “We have more Almagests running around the estate than ever, and tonight is going to be no different with the party.” “Lady Bavaria isn’t coming, is she?” Dame Anna grimaced at the mention of Lady Bavaria’s name. “Thankfully not, but the rest of the Deacons were invited. I’ll be keeping a close eye on them in case that brother of Lady Bavaria’s plans on stealing any more priceless heirlooms..” “Maybe I should pass,” Fauntleroy said, “I am falling behind with work, and it’s not as if father would miss my presence.” The old woman placed her hand on Fauntleroy’s shoulder, “Although he might not show it, Fonty, your father cares very deeply about each and every one of you. Besides, Leonhart wants Vincent to attend. I‘ll need you to take care of Macey Ellen.” Fauntleroy‘s eyes lit up, “You didn’t tell me there would be fireworks, Anna. Just point me in the direction of the champagne and let’s get this evening underway!” “What about your article for The Chronicle?” “My deadline can wait,” Fauntleroy replied dismissively, “After all, the unwashed masses will still be poor when they publish the late edition.” Landmark 01
The Ragnarok
“You are finished, Illyria,” Raone said sternly, “No matter how you may twist and torment the souls within The Ragnarok, truth will prevail.” Illyria glared, “You have always underestimated me, I’m afraid. Your supposed truth will come to haunt you when my greatest secret is revealed, just as your boring lectures have come to haunt me.” “You are but a mere trickster,” Bellana said with a sigh, “Spare us your words and show us action if you truly hope to win this game.” Jeanne held onto the silver pistol tightly as she group continued their search for Charlotte and Naomi. She had grown quite fond of Kenneth through their time together, but ultimately knew that it would be short-lived. The others believed that only one would escape The Ragnarok alive, and she made no attempt to hide the fact that she was looking out for herself. "I'm ashamed of the way we have behaved so far, Jeanne," Marta said, "Each of us have done terrible things to survive this far, I don't want to be that kind of person anymore." Jeanne rolled her eyes. “What we need to do is find shelter,” she said as she turned her attention towards the graying skyline, “A storm is brewing, and it looks like it’s going to be a rough one.” Marta nodded in agreement, “I only hope the others are alright. Patrick seems to have disappeared once again.” “Let him be, Marta. We have enough to worry about without that moron getting us into any more danger.” In the distance Marta could see several beautiful marble statues. They were of young men and woman, frozen in time as they danced around a small fountain. “Look at that!” she said as she pointed, “The detail on those statues is amazing.” Jeanne walked into the courtyard cautiously as she admired the works of art. “Hm. Such a strange find in the middle of nowhere…” the young woman remarked, “ I suppose it wouldn’t be fair for things to make sense now, would it?” She laughed to herself as she felt a few stray drops of rain fall across her face. Jeanne turned to Marta only notice her new friend petrified in fear. “Marta! What is it?” Marta ran her fingers across the face of one of the statues slowly, “This one right here… it’s my husband.” “That doesn’t make any sense. Why would someone create a statue of..?” It was then that Jeanne recognized her own face on one of the statues. Although many years had passed since she was as young and as naïve as the girl she saw, the likeness was unmistakable. “And this one is of me! What is going on here?” Suddenly a bolt of lightning struck the fountain at the center of the courtyard, knocking stray bits of stone into the two women’s faces. Blinded, Marta fell to the ground as rain began to fall harder and harder, dropping Kenneth onto the mud. “No!” Jeanne felt a cold, powerful hand grab her from behind as she reached for the child. She turned around to discover that somehow the stone figures had come to life. Jeanne struggled to free herself from the golem’s grip, but found it impossible. She quickly withdrew her pistol and began firing onto the monster point blank wildly. “Get Kenneth and run!” she shouted as the statue shattered against the ground. “I can’t see!” Marta screamed as a pair of statues struck her from behind, “--Agh!” Jeanne continued firing at the statues as she made her way towards Marta, destroying the two statues. Stray bolts of lighting clashed against the forest floor, each one drawing closer and closer to the women. “Put it away, Jeanne!” Marta pleaded as she struggled to reach her feet, “The storm is getting worse, you‘ll get killed!” “We have to protect ourselves!” Jeanne shouted angrilly. Marta finally managed to wipe the marble from her eyes, and ripped the weapon out of Jeanne’s hands. “Go with Kenneth,” Marta said as she ran into the distance, “I need to get this away before--” Jeanne reached for her friend, but nature intervened. A thunderbolt struck Marta and the pistol, enveloping the woman in a brilliant burst of white light. Jeanne fell the ground, her eyes filled with tears as Marta's life was extinguished only a few feet away.
