1. Elsewhere, Engel was being interrogated by Gurt. While most members of the CTU despised the cruel and unusual tactics that were used to pry information out of Terorrists, Gurt somehow seemed to enjoy it. Trained by Lady Asphyxia herself, there were few who could withhold information from the deadliest woman in the Square. "Tell me where they are!" She shouted at Engel as she slapped him across the face. "Fine! Here is all I know. You'll never get the rest of the information out of me!"The Clues 48 hours and counting... [strike]1) A thread by a winner.[/strike] Found by Mother. [strike]2) Look for a bomb at a star-crossed road.[/strike] Found by Webster. [strike]3) Spawned by a terrorist.[/strike] Found by Shades. [strike]4) Pagan for an explosion.[/strike] Found by Nomura [strike]5) Risen from the ashes, this OtakuBoards birthday is the bomb![/strike] Found by Ploppy the Spaceship. [strike]6) Pony up information about your profile.[/strike] Found by Mother. [strike]7) The terrorists have spoken.[/strike] Found by Peacock. [strike]8) A thread once endorsed by the terrorists.[/strike] Found by Webster. [strike]9) When the terrorist leader and the OBCTU leader were both looked up to in one breath.[/strike] Found by Ploppy the Spaceship [strike]10) The attack of an OB masterpiece.[/strike] Found by Ploppy the Spaceship. Each clue is for a different bomb. You need to be organized if you hope to find them in time. Remember that these bombs are placed in OPEN threads only, so don't bother looking in the anime archives or in locked threads. Once you find a 'bomb' you must deactivate it by revealing its' location in this very thread, RP-style. If you decide that you need some help (and you should make this decision soon,) you can interrogate Engel for more clues. However, each further interrogation will cost our team. Engel may also know the location of a few bombs, so keep that in mind as well. You have 48 hours. Go, CTU, go!
  2. Fortunately I had been preapred for just such an occasion. Birmingham had purchased the chairs from a local discount store earlier that week; thank goodness for a free-market economy. I was sure that if the situation were reversed, the Terrorists would probably have made us sit on rocks or second-class citizens. I motioned for Po to bring me the list of demands we had compiled together. When we captured Engel earlier in the week we suspected that they would attempt to retrieve him through diplomacy. With a few notable exceptions, the Terrorists were out-gunned in nearly every way possible. Especially when it came to hygiene. Rai tapped his sandals against the ground impatiently as I read the list of demands to myself, admiring how clever I thought we were. "Demand Number One: We would like your leader to change his title from 'The Ambassador of TERRORISM' to 'The Ambassador of Counter-Terrorism' for the rest of the war." The Terorrist raised his thick unibrow in suspicion. "Demand Number Two: Reveal the locations of at least two suitcase nukes. Engel will be freed once we verify that these locations are accurate, and that you aren't trying to trick us." "How could we possibly trick the all-knowing Counter-Terrorism Unit?" Rai said as he rolled his eyes. "Look out, Grape Ape!" Japan shouted from behind, "He's using sarcasm!" "Um... good... call... Japan..." Rai thought for a moment before speaking. "While I disagree with the economic slavery you impose on your people, I do find these demands somewhat reasonable. Do you have a telephone? I would like to discuss this with my superior." I looked at my watch, and the time of the Terrorist's first strike was drawing ever closer. This was yet another clever distraction, hoping to keep us occupied while they planted suitcase nukes across the boards. "No." I said, "We have two final demands for the prisoner's return. We know how valuable it is that you return him to your base before he gives away any information about the bombs' locations." The man shook his fists in anger, and began to vomit out several un-patriotic and terroristic phrases in response. While I couldn't understand many of them under his thick accent, I knew it was in our best interest to keep these Terrorists away from our pets and sisters. "The first of our final demands is that you agree never to let any of these 'Junior Insurgents' into our base again. If we have another rude interruption, expect the full force of the OtakuBoards' Counter-Terrorism Unit behind our retaliation..." He nodded slowly. "And my final request is a most unusual one," I said as I signaled for my counterparts leaning against the wall, I'd prefer that they explain it to you personally."
  3. I sighed as two Terrorists, Nonsequiter and Premature, I think, came charging down the hallway towards Engel's cell. While Rai al Haswiri had a thick and dirty beard, I could see traces of a smile underneath. "Release the prisoner, or we will detonate the bombs." He commanded. "Doubtful," I said as I reached into my pocket for a stick of gum. Gadget stepped towards Rai cautiously. "We're on communications lockdown with the outside world. If you try to detonate those weapons, I doubt the signal is going to carry much further than this room... if you have the power to detonate the weapons in the first place." Rai wiped the sweat from his brow and revealed a remote control device from his robe. "Would you care to try me, capitalist pig? "Oh I'd love to! But I don't think you want to do that... we can trace the signal of your detonation device, and follow the trail right to these bombs of yours." "If you want to negotiate, let's negotiate," I said, "But first, as a sign of goodwill, get your comrades out of our base." "Their ugly boots are scuffing up our floors, and our cleaning lady doesn't come in until Thursday." Peacock added.
  4.
Reminds me of the time I peed on the teacher. Wait no! I peed my pants during Library because I was afraid of the bathrooms. 1st grade was a *****!!![/B']
Yeah, as Treble just said we all had our own struggled with our bladder when we were younger. Hopefully you have been able to overcome those difficulties since then. My problem is first grade wasn't related to yellow liquid, but rather the yellow bumblebees who had made a home of my playground. Somehow one of the things had followed me into the classroom after reccess and I ended up sitting on it. It was one of the most painful things I had ever experience to that point, and I instantly burst into tears. At the time I thought the pain was awful, so much so that I couldn't tell the other students what was going on. They must have thought I was crazy or something, but I was finally able to tell everyone what had happened. For days and weeks after that event all of the other students liked to make fun of me for it, so it was pretty traumatic. -Shy
  5. I entered the lobby and took a moment to admire the dramatic posters on the walls, purposely slighting Ra al Hawsiri in the proccess. Each poster was prouder and more patriotic than the last, preaching powerful slogans such as "Liberty over death!" and "Terrorists smell!" "I demand your attention, infidel!" the Terrorist shrieked, waving his hands in the air wildly. "I have traveled very far to negotiate for Engel's trade." I thought about this for a moment, and laughed to myself. "You have little to negotiate with, spammer," I said confidently, "We have the prisoner..." "--And we have the bombs!" There was an uncomfortable moment of silence, punctuated by the sound of footsteps coming at us from all directions. Was I in store for an ambush? In an instant the room filled with my subordinates, each armed and ready to take down the intruder. "We're here, Grape Ape!" Gadget shouted from behind the crowd of CTU agents. Rai was noticably frightened by this new development, but I knew better than to underestimate the man who had an army of lightly-clothed, and powerful sorceress assassins at his disposal. "You'll find that escape is impossible, Hawsurry." "Hawsiri." "Sure," I replied dryly, My agents have an unusual list of demands, meant to humiliate and disorient your terrorists..." "Not that they need any help!" Peacock chimed in. "Oh snap!" Ploppy the Spaceship said over the intercom system. Surely the Terrorists had met their match.
  6.
nonono, NHK is a story of my procrastination, really. I've heard of Densha Otoko thought. Indeed, do pandas procrastinate? What about elephants? What happens when an elephant does forget?
Pandas certainly are procrastinating when it comes to breeding in captivity; the same with Elephants. It's not that they don't have the ability to breed, they simply don't have the drive. The worst part is that if they don't hurry up with it both of their species are going to go extinct. At least when I procrastinate the worst thing that can hapen is that I'm late for work or miss turning in a paper or something. -Shy
  7.
[IMG]http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x297/hanner_nanner24/abigfatliar.jpg[/IMG']
I think it's actually spelled L-I-R-E (also known as a Lute or a Lira.) I don't play the Lire, and neither does my Mother. However, I did have several musicians visit the restaurant during my shifts. One of them played the violin, and actually performed during their meal, so that was kind of cool. We have an opera singer who performs regularly, but it's a whole different experience to hear her perform with musical accompaniment. -Shy
  8.
the future, eh...
I know, it's crazy how our perceptions of the future are so different than what they actually are. That funny picture of the car looks like something that would be described as 'futuristic' but in reality it's very impractical. I imagine that in a few years the kinds of things experts say we'll be driving in 20 years will be completely different than what we end up with. 1) I already graduated from high school a while ago (03) although I am still attending college during the Fall and Spring. 2) I'm just as confused now as I was when I graduated. I think that some people have a very clear idea of what to expect when they come out of high school, but there are those of us who take much longer. There are times when I'm worried, but I have enough confidence in myself and my abilities so that it's not a huge concern. You just have to have faith that everything will turn out, I suppose, and if helping more conrete long-term goals is helpful so be it. 3) I'll let you know how everything turns out in the end when I do, heh. 4) The best advice I have for you is to use your newfound freedom to learn more about yourself and what you want to do. Some people are kind of forced into the path they will follow for the rest of their life, and there's no reason you can't go out and explore the world while you figure these things out. Try to have some fun along the way, too. -Shy
  9.
[B']Ha! I don't have a job etither. But at school this strange thing happened to my mother. She ate burger!
LOL! I'm glad to know I'm not the only person who has been through this experience! I have a very similar story, but it involves Italian food instead of burgers. We had something called a 'Create Your Own Pasta Dish' at my old job working in an Italiam restaurant. It always seemed like people would always come up with the strangest combinations of pastas, vegetables, sauces, or whatever. The worst was my Mom, who would come into the restaurant frequently and order CYOPs that would make me gag. My co-workers were always shocked to discover that she ordered such strange dishes, let alone enjoy them. I know it's not a very interesting story, but it wasn't a very interesting job. Does anyone else have their parents visit them at their job? I'm 22 and living on my own and it still happens. -Shy
  10. "Grape Ape!" Ploppy the Spaceship shouted from his chair at the Command Center, "We have a visitor. "Oh? Show me this intruder on the monitors." I said with a grin. Ploppy made a few simple keystrokes and soon the large video monitors in the Command Center showed Peacock in a heated discussion with a filthy, and undoubtedly smelly terrorist. I instantly recognized the face, Rai Al Haswiri, one of the most dangerous members in the Terrorist Cell. If they had sent him alone to our base, I was certain the last thing they wanted to do was negotiate. "The bombs will be detonated any moment," I sighed, "This is merely a distraction." "You think so?" "That I do, Ploppy the Spaceship. I'll make my way over to Rai Al Hawsiri and listen to his demands. Call for the others. This may get serious..."
  11. The point has been brought up to me that these terrorists are far from intimidating. While DB has proven that they are harmless individually, the prospect of a group attack on our boards is quite frightening (and smelly.) All the same, I think we are fully prepared for whatever they can dish out. Their slight on us using Teletubbies is an excellent example of how simple-minded and dated the Terrorists' sense of humor is. Living in deserts and underground bunkers all of these years, they obviously haven't been able to keep up with pop-culture like we patriots have. Their next 'hillarious' attack may very well reference 'Family Matters,' 'Titanic,' and/or Ross Perot, so be prepared for that. - Grape Ape Edit: Removed portion of this post that may have crossed a line. Apologies to those I may have offended, as anything I say in this thread is meant to be taken lightly.
  12. It looks like we won't have a use for you until the next mission, BK. So just give us a few days and we'll be sure to let you join in on the fun. -Shy
  13. Okay, the first mission briefings have been sent out to all players. All we have to do now is wait for the Terrorists to make their first move. If anyone has any questions about this mission please contact me through PM, and remember that this business is top secret! I've also received unconfirmed rumors that the Terrorists are smelly. While I have no information to support this claim, please feel free to spread it around as if it were fact. Great work on the code names so far (Except for you Japan. You fail.) You can call me Grape Ape.
  14. Final Quest for Glory 2: Counter-Terrorism Unit This thread is made for only participating members of the OtakuBoards Counter-Terrorism Unit to post in. If you would like to join the RPG, feel free to sign-up by clicking here. OtakuBoards Counter-Terrorism Unit:

Shy, CTU Leader - "Grape Ape"
indifference - "Crystia"
Nerdsy - "Ploppy the Spaceship"
Ezekiel - "Gurt"
Malkav - "Birmingham"
Allamorph - "Shades"
Treble - "Gadget"
Wondershot - "Webster"
Aaryanna_Mom - "Mother"
Sara - "Drei"
BKStyles - "Throne"
JJ - "Treu"
Sakazaki - "Sonic"
Engel - "Sanguinius"
Flash - "Sour Candy"
Shinmaroo - "El Kabong"
Ozymandius Jones - "Wanderlust"
Arcadia - "Starbucks"
Gavin - "Janus"
Aaryanna - "Fluff"
[strike]You'll find that Engel is listed as a 'prisoner.' Engel is really a Terrorist, but he is currently under our custody for the time being. We have a choice of treating him like a regular member of the CTU, or trying to use him as a bargaining chip when neccessary. This may come into play later in the game, but Engel's level of involvement is for the team to decide.[/strike] Once the Terrorist side has been briefed by Charles we can begin our first mission. As our first order of business I say we come up with amusing callsigns for ourselves to use during missions! -Shy
  15. Okay, we've decided to begin FQFG2! Everyone has been accepted based on their sign-up, and will be assigned to post in one of two different Underground Threads for the project. You will know which Underground thread you are supposed to post in based on a briefing you should receive via PM shortly. I should mention that sign-ups are not closed, and based on the nature of this project it is no problem to allow so many members to participate. If anyone would like to join at any point during this whole shindig, they are more than welcome to. -Shy
  16. Great stuff, Nomura. I tried to contribute as much as I could with this edit I just did. Anyone should feel free to add as much as they can to her. She deserves it! Sara (also Lore and Cera) originally joined OtakuBoards as Cynic-42 on March 29, 2001. She is a former moderator of several forums (most notably Otaku Public,) and her contributions have been invaluable to the OtakuBoards community and also theOtaku.com's network of sites. Like many members at the time, Sara discovered OtakuBoards' through theOtaku.com's comprehensive Digimon section. Her love of the show and sparkling personality made her quick friends with OB's legendary 'Digi-Peeps," most notably Ginnylyn, Nerdsy and Shy. Sara was soon asked to moderate the Digimon forum, a job she held with dignity for nearly a year before resigning. However, Sara's work on the boards were not limited to the Digimon forum. She became a regular patron of the General Discussion (now Otaku Lounge) forums, often showing other members why she refers to herself as a 'cynic.' She also embraced a sense of community that fews others had done up until that time, as evident with more lighthearted threads such as 'Otaku Yearbook.' It was these sorts of things that made her the obvious choice to become OtakuBoards' first Category Moderator of the Otaku Public (now Community) section. Her creative works should also be noted, as she has been a regular in the Art and Creative Writing areas of the boards for years. Not only did her posts display her own exceptional talent in these areas, but she also attempted to involve and spotlight others. Threads such as 'Draw My Character!' and '55 Fiction' became staples of their respective forums, and are among the most popular and active the boards have ever seen. Sara also created hundreds of original greeting cards and wallpapers for theOtaku.com, and served as the primary editor of Adam's 'Art of Otaku' E-Book. Sara eventually resigned from Otaku Public, but remains semi-active on the boards to this day. She is a friend and role-model to all members (well, almost) and is one of the most prominent OtakuBoards members of all time. Trivia! Sara was once known for her witty signatures, which included sayings such as "The extreme irony" and "Pillage before you burn." Sara, along with Nerdsy and Shy, are the only three members of The Otaku Triad. -Shy

    The Sleepers
Every night the voluptuous Nurse Miyuki Jones would step outside the hospital walls to smoke a cigarette. While keeping watch over Sun Heights? coma ward was far from exciting, these moments of nicotine-fueled bliss were the only thing that gave her graveyard shifts meaning. Graveyards were usually reserved for the younger nurses, but at this point in her life the last thing Miyuki wanted to do was socialize with patients and their families. She informed one of the neighboring wards that she was going on her break, grabbed her pack of Camels, and headed out towards the fire escape. It was then when she noticed a younger man sitting in one of the ?Jane Doe? rooms. Any visitors to the coma ward were few and far between, especially at this hour when they were forbidden. The woman thought about the situation for a moment, but eventually decided to deal with the man herself rather than call in security. It was getting late, anyway, and chances are the elderly guard would be asleep. Nurse Jones entered the room quietly, catching the attention of the stranger. ?Sir,? she said with a tone of authority in her voice,? Visiting hours have been over for some time.? The man let out a small laugh. ?I?m with Dr. Xing. He?s hired me to watch after this one.? ?Oh, I see,? she said dryly, ?Well, if the mysterious Dr. Xing requested your services. You must be good at whatever it is you?re doing?? "Sitting. And I?m excellent at it, love.? He smiled back, "Didn't you get the memo?" "We don't gossip much here. I'll leave you back to your exciting night job." ?If you?ve had the week I?ve had, you?d welcome the chance to sit and watch this bitch hooked up to life support.? ?I take it you know our Jane Doe then. Either that, or you?re a misogynist.? ?Maybe a little of both? but this woman tried to kill me.? Miyuki raised her eyebrow. ?An Ex?? ?An assassin. Does the name ?Ghost Fox? ring any bells?? ?Honey,? Miyuki said as she adjusted her breasts for added prominence, ?If I kept track of every Yakuza who came in here for a gunshot wound of a drug overdose? shit, I?d have to go into the witness protection program.? The man thought for a moment, and stood up. ?My name?s Shi Aolie. I?d love to hear your name, Misses?.? ?Miz,? she replied, ?Miyuki Jones.? She extended her hand and he kissed it softly, his five o? clock shadow scratching against Miyuki?s soft skin. The nurse pulled her hand away for a moment, and her demeanor turned serious. ?I will say one thing about this, Mr. Aolie. We have some unspoken rules here at Sun Heights, and if you cross Dr. Xing you aren?t just fired? you?re never heard from again.? ?Let me worry about that later,? Shi grabbed onto Miyuki?s hand once more, ?You wanna go outside and smoke a cigarette??
18. Thanks for your understanding team. I think we deserved to win, but I do see that Mom's entry was more along the lines of what Sandy was expecting from the challenge. Oh well. It certainly can't be said that I try to play it safe. As for Zeke's challenge... my goodness. I do not envy you at all, my dear. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. -Shy
  19. I think the best thing to do might just be to break up the staff timeline into different sections, each based on versions of the boards. Simply list each section of the boards, and each staff member who held a position in those forums. Then at the bottom you can list other staff, like admins or technical directors or whatnot. It seems like it would be much more organized than trying to create an actual timeline for all of these dozens of people, and you could get it done in sections rather than trying to do it all at once. -Shy
  20. I like your font color. You're in. We are still accepting sign-ups. Although the final list of players haven't been compiled yet we will be much more critical of any future sign-ups, so be careful. We are looking for a wide variety of personalities and writing styles here, so we've decided to ask all future sign-ups to please answer the following three questions: 1) What is your element of power? 2) Who taught you how to ride a bike? 3) When do Your answers will be extremely helpful in letting us decide the final group. Also, Charles may decide to add or remove questions as this thread progresses. Thank you to everyone who has been supportive so far; I know signing up for such a mysterious project can be daunting, but hopefully we can have a lot of fun with this! -Shy
  21. It also appears Jeremiah just wrote up a fine Otakupedia entry about the whole thing. Go us. -Shy
  22. Unfortunately the thread was closed before I could give a proper reply to anything James had said. My goal was to create a thread about overmoderation in the wake of declining activity on OB. As a former staff member I am fully aware of how inflexible they can be at times, and I made it very clear in my original post that I wasn't trying to target anyone in particular. The whole Naps 'situation' happened that same morning without my knowledge, although I will admit that Naps had friended me on Vox earlier that day and that is how it was brought to my attention in the first place. Naps was most certainly spamming, but by using him as an example I had hoped to inject some satire and humor into what was otherwise a very straightforward and (dare I say) dull thread. Anyone choosing to focus exclusively on Naps, and not the issues I brought up is really missing the point. The fact that James posted repeatedly in the thread and even created a Community-wide announcement regarding the whole thing really reinforces the validity of my arguments. In that regard I consider the Suggestions thread to be a great success, I only wish I had been able to reply sooner before the thread had been closed and derailed. A closed thread can still be a successful one. -Shy
  23. I just wanted you guys to know that I just posted my Suggestions thread, and I hope everyone approves of it. This subject is very near and dear to my heart, and hopefully some genuine change can come of it. The whole situation makes me sick, and now this is about far more than my OB Survivor challenge. -Shy
  24. I also greatly enjoy it. Now I find I'm even enjoying the Underground thread! -Shy
  25. This is incredibly difficult for me, since OB reform has been one of the last things on my mind. A_M is a friend of mine, and I know she has some strong ideas about the boards as well, so this won't be as simple as I would like. I have a few ideas in my head, and will hopefully come up with something by tomorrow. Remember that the success of a thread isn't always dependent on the original post, though. I'll need my team's help to make this an interesting discussion! -Shy
