2.
There are a lot of things about OtakuBoards I find nifty, but I'm too lazy to mention them.
Well thanks for participating in this community event, Mr. Moderator. 8 hours or so to go. Keep those nominations coming!Panda Between her work on theOtaku.com and her moderation of the Lounge, Panda continues to inspire me. Anyone who has to clean up the Otaku Lounge deserves praise without question, but she does it with a kindness and grace that is very difficult to overlook. I find myself reading closed threads just to see the pleasant way she deals with spam, or visiting theOtaku.com to view wallpapers or greeting cards about an anime I honestly couldn?t care less about.Aarayanna Aarayanna first caught my attention with her posts in the Otaku Lounge. Well actually, that?s a lie. What really caught my attention was her avatar and banner combination, for not since Charles and his CATtitude had I seen someone who was so dangerously in love with their pet. History has proven that this type of fanatical devotion is often paired with spamming and I was pleasantly surprised to find that Aarayanna is a fantastic addition to the OtakuBoards community. Whether it be Zelda, or Cowboy Bebop, we all walk a fine line between obsession and insanity but nobody walks it better than Aarayanna and that ridiculous dog of hers.Batman: Hero or Sociopath? This thread is everything that the Music, Movies & TV should be. Heck, it?s what every forum should strive to be. Intelligent and respectful discussion from some of OB?s most intelligent minds? and it?s about freakin? Batman! Forget abortion, same-sex marriage or the Bush administration; this topic is proof that if every thread were about Batman the boards would be a much better place.Moderation This is quite possibly my favorite thread ever posted on the boards. It glorifies everything we love and hate about the forum, complete with nostalgia and the dorkiest argument of all time. Every moderator has their own stories to tell, and this thread gives a little isight into some of them.BeatleMania: Redux Ozymandius Jones is my hero, and this RPG is why. It?s the most original concept to ever hit The Arena and even though I hardly know anything about the Beatles I had to join. Like most ambitious projects this one was doomed to fail, but that doesn?t make it any less memorable. Every project in The Arena should strive for this kind of creativity, because it?s this type of treasure that sets OB apart from every other forum on the web.Not Liking Shinmaru Whether it?s his moderation of Play It! Or his alleged ties to the Communist party, there are countless reasons to not like Shinmaru, and members have taken notice. Shinmaru Bashing Mania (or ?ShinBashMan? for short) has taken hold of the entire community, and with his frequent posts about music, movies or video games there are no signs of it slowing down. Have you ever tried looking at his blog? It?s the Twlight Zone mixed with Super Mario Brothers? What the hell is that about? Here?s to a great year of not liking Shinmaru, one which undoubtedly continue through the next century. -Shy
 3. Yeah, both Red and Green Teams are dealing with visitors from other dimensions, so it will be very interesting to see how both of the missions resolve. Worse yet, it looks like they aren't going to have a very happy homecoming when/if they return to the base. Also, Hero Patrol rocks. Your Mom said she liked it last night, so why aren't you reading it too? -Shy
 4. "Deadline" Molly stared into her compact mirror lovingly as she adjusted her hair. Had she known this afternoon would change her life forever, she probably would have worn her auburn locks down that afternoon. Molly Mills, Ace Reporter, her business card read, 2001 Pulitzer Prize Winner. Yeah, she had a Pulitzer for her articles with ?Key to the City,? but anyone could have won those awards, given the circumstances. How could they not give her recognition? She was the young woman who had been kidnapped by Countdown and lived to tell the tale! She was the living embodiment of celebrity, a living legend; one who was quick to turn her fame into a lucrative career in journalism. An opportunist? Yes. Beautiful? Perhaps. But not once did Miss Mills ever try to attribute her achievements to genuine talent. Her name got her the job, but it had been months since Molly had written something that sold, and she could feel the pressure. Quietly she sat outside the office of her editor, Sam, counting down the minutes until her weekly 10:00 am meeting began. She adjusted her skirt, fidgeting in her seat as the clock above his door continued its loud string of ticks. A few moments passed and the door opened, with Sam, a tired, middle-aged woman stepped out from behind. She dressed as if she were in a gangster film, complete with suspenders and hat. ?Miss Mills?? The large woman asked, staring at Molly suspiciously. ?You?re here?? ?Of course!? Molly stood up proudly. ?We had a meeting scheduled for 10:00, Sam. You sound surprised..?? ?Your message said you had a big story in the works. Everyone at the Key just assumed that meant you had been kidnapped again. I was about to go out for a drink. You don?t drink, do you?? ?I never have anything more than a Coca-Cola, and besides, we?re on the job.? There was a moment of silence quickly cut in half by Sam?s loud laugh. ?Ha! Of course we are!? She slapped Molly on the back enthusiastically and led the young girl into her office. Molly followed Sam into her claustrophobic office space. Awards, degrees and old newspapers decorated the space, with piles of notes, photographs and copy nearly everywhere else. The editor shoved aside a pile of folders labeled, ?Celebrity autopsies,? revealing a simple wooden chair across from her desk. The two took their seats. ?So let?s talk. It?s not often I get a call from a writer. I?m usually the one trying to get them to finish their articles on time?? ?This is different. I?ve been putting a lot of thought and research into this so far, and I think I have something that can put my career back on track.? ?And what exactly do you have planned, Miss Mills?? ?Planned?? Molly scoffed, ?The story is already done. I?ve uncovered the secrets of The Legionnaires.? There was a moment of silence as her editor thought about what she had just said. ?That?s impossible. Some of the best reporters have struggled for years to get an interview with one of The Legionnaires ? it?s not as if you can just walk into that fortress of theirs and start taking pictures.? ?I understand that, Sam.? Molly opened her purse and revealed several photographs inside of it. ?These are photographs made public by the Chinese government. This is the first photographic evidence of its kind not distributed directly by The Legionnaires. It was my first clue that something terrible happened.? ?And you were able to find this out because..?? ?Look, this really happened, okay?? the young woman pointed at a photograph of a man in a cowboy hat, ?This man, Dust, he was once one of their top agents, and now he?s living in an isolated ranch in the Midwest. His full name, his address, I have it all, Sam.? She pulled out her story, a thick, 20 page manuscript and threw it onto the desk. ?Something terrible happened there with what is known as the ?Red Team,? something they didn?t want the world to know about. It?s my job to share the truth with the world, isn?t it? No matter how awful that truth may be?? ?Not unless you reveal your source to me, first.? Sam stood up and looked out her office high-rise at the streets below. ?You know, my dear, I?ve been playing this game for a terribly long time. My parents? your grandparents, this was their only source of news. Key to the City was once the finest publication in the nation, but the times have changed, and more often than not we?re forced to print the stories that sell rather than the stories that matter. But I?m not even going to entertain the idea of printing this slander, a story that if untrue could ruin us forever, unless you can tell me the name of who gave you this information.? Molly quietly pulled another photograph from her purse and placed it face down onto the manuscript. ?This stays between us, Sam. It has to.? Sam nodded, and flipped the photograph over. She stared into it deeply for a moment, and then placed it back onto the desk, exactly as Molly had. ?Miss Mills?? ?Yes, Sam?? "This story is going to destroy their organization. You know that, right?" "I do." Molly nodded. "Okay then," Sam handed Molly back her manuscript, "Drop this off to Ken on your way out. Tell him I want the front page cleared for your article. We've got the story of the year on our hands."
 5. I'd like the mission to wrap up as quickly as possible, although I don't remember giving you kids a specific number of posts to work with. Originally we had a set deadline in place, but that obviously didn't happen. Just wrap up this mission as quickly, and as best, you can. There's no real rush, but I would like to move things forward. Great work so far in the new missions, everyone. -Shy
 6. I live in an area where both the WB and UPN are available in my area, but apparently that isn't the case nationwide. I'm a little surprised by this decision, just because it seems like this is the sort of thing that should have happened in the first place... or at least a little sooner... these networks have been on television for over a decade now. Also it will be interesting to see what happens to the new network's programming lineup. UPN has much of it's programming geared towards the African-American audience, which is a stark contrast to the WB's. It's a step in the right direction, I think, but ratings will dictate what types of programs end up on the new network. CW is a really stupid name. -Shy
 7. I love how Shinmaru and I live maybe 20 miles away from each other and we've made no attempt to meet in real life. It's probably for the best, though. There are more than a few members here who can vouch for how boring I am in real life. Thank you Morpheus, it's about time someone started up an account for OB. -Shy
 8.
Man, things have been slow lately. I don't know about the others who currently aren't participating in missions, but I know I'm getting bored. When's the next mission launching, Shy? I'm about ready for some more action.
Don't worry, we're waiting on a final post in the Silver Team and then both Silver and Gold can begin their next missions. It's obvious at this point that posting deadlines are merely suggestions, rather than rules, but I would like to move things forward as much as we can. There are a lot more bodies that need to be bagged, and when that finishes it should focus things a bit more. Great work in Hero Patrol so far. It should be a surprise for everyone to see how it ties into the main Legionnaires storyline. POST POST POST! -Shy
 9. And on that note, this thread is being closed. There are countless non-profit organizations around the country that are better prepared to help you with your situation, Kaise. It seems like posting this type of topic in our discussion forums is nothing more than an attempt to get some sort of attention from our member base. I encourage you to seek some sort of professional help and find a solution to your problems, but this thread is not the best way to go about it. To those members who have posted inappropriate images, and caused this thread to degenerate into something like this: Knock it off. You have both been warned in the past over this kind of behavior. I'll be bringing this to the attention of our other staff members in hopes of finding some sort of final solution. Thread closed. -Shy

Whump! Whump!? It was a quiet morning in Gatorville, Florida when it happened. ?Whump! Whump! Whump!? Things were perfect, harmonious and happy on this day. Children were playing in the parks, singing songs and holding hands while adults smiled to one another as they drove past them on the street. The sun was shining and life was good. Everything seemed just a little better than it was the day before. ?Whump! Whump! Whump!? That was, of course, until the eviction notice arrived. A loud ?Whumping? noise, identical to the one described above, echoed throughout Hero Patrol?s modest headquarters. Because of this disturbance, everyone had began to wake up (except for OtakuBot, who always woke up at dawn to focus his ?chi.?) One by the one the group stumbled out of their beds and into the hallway where each they noticed an enormous railroad spike jammed through their front door. The Blue Nomad began to stroke his beard, moving in closer to inspect the large piece of metal. ?I believe this is what has caused the loud noise,? he said in a terribly profound manner. Everyone nodded their head in agreement. It was clear that The Blue Nomad?s assumption was correct. ?Excellent work, Blue Nomad,? Shade whispered from the shadows of their breakfast nook, ?But why would this thing attack our door?? ?Do you think it?s some kind of warning from our enemies?? Tiger Girl 3 asked, immediately growling afterwards. With a paranoid look in her eyes The Banshee took a few steps back. ?I? I once fought a man made of nothing but metal. I think he?s back.? ?Who?s back?? Baby Punk asked. ?He?s back. The Metal Lord.? Bee paused for added dramatic effect. ?He?s found me. This nail? it was directed at me by the Metal Lord,? Bee announced proudly, ?If I stay here any longer I may put the rest of your lives in danger? thank you all for your friendship?.? Bee embraced Raccoon Glory tightly, and went upstairs to use up all of the hot water in the shower before anyone else could. There was an awkward silence, until Tigara eventually opened the front door to reveal a note attached on the other side via railroad spike. She grabbed the note with her mouth, and handed it to Tiger Girl 3. She read the note carefully before telling the rest of the group of her sister?s findings. ?Wait? this isn?t a note from The Metal Lord. This is a note from our landlord!? Everyone gasped. ?It says that we?ve failed to pay all of our rent for the past several months, and that we have 24 hours to leave the building before it?s demolished and turned into an ice skating rink.? ?Damn them!? Baby Punk screamed, ?I hate ice skating!? ?Let me see this,? Forbidden Darkness grabbed the notice from Tiger Girl 3, his aura of fear wrapping around the souls of his teammates like a wet blanket. He began to read the paper aloud. ??This is your fourth and final notice. Unless you can make all overdue payments within the next day, you will be forced out of your homes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you during this busy holiday season. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.?? Lord Death stared fiercely into the paper, his eyes burning with the intensity of a thousand suns. The Blue Nomad continued stroking his beard wisely. ??fourth notice? Wouldn?t that mean we?ve already received two notices??
 12. Okay kids. Thanks to everyone who chose to sign-up. It is always an incredibly tough decision to decide who makes it in and who does not, but I chose a group of people I felt would work together best, and be able to keep the darn thing running. So without further ado, here we go? :::Players::: Nomad Tical ? The Blue Nomad Goddess ? Baby Punk Dragon Warrior ? Raccoon Glory Unborn Lord Xion ? Captain Death Ben ? Super Absorbent Drix D?Zanth ? OtakuBot Arcadia -- Banshee Shy ? Tiger Girl 3 The RPG will begin as soon as I can get the thread up and running. Expect a PM shortly regarding how posting works. Questions, comments and concerns can be PM'd to me, or posted in The Legionnaires Underground thread.
 13. Great work everyone. Sign ups are open for 12 more hours, and then the RPG launches. Code Name / Call Sign: Tiger Girl 3 Gender (If Applicable): F Location: The darkest jungles of Africa / Gatorville, Florida Age: 24 Personal History: The legacy of the name ?Tiger Girl? dates back to the earliest days of the Cold War when the United States government sent Catherine ?Kitty? Arbuckle into South America to hunt down and capture Nazi war criminals. With the aid of her pet tiger, Lily, Katherine donned a mask and leotard to dispense justice across several third world nations. Armed with nothing more than sheer fury, ?Tiger Girl? as she came to be known, bravely served her country for nearly two decades before she and Lily left active duty to write a popular social column in the New Yorker. Her current whereabouts are unknown. In 1979 the second Tiger Girl, Tony Shere, donned a homemade replica of Tiger Girl?s original leotard to defend his neighborhood from the growing menace of the location homemowners association. His attempts were unsuccessful, and Tony was eventually forced to remove the broken car parts that literred his front lawn. Mr. Shere has since distanced himself from the life of a masked mystery man. The origins of the current Tiger Girl, ?Tiger Girl 3,? remain shrouded in mystery. Some believe she is a disillusioned grad student who took the mantle after her boyfriend was mauled by a pack of wild tigers; others claim she is the reincarnation of a beloved Indian Princess, while most simply don?t care. Tiger Girl 3 claims to be the child of famous zoologists who raised the young girl in the darkest jungles of Africa. At an early age her mother and father were brutally murdered before her eyes, possibly by ninjas, and the young girl found herself stranded in the jungle. Fortunately, she was eventually discovered by a family of friendly Bengal Tigers and over the course of the next decade traveled throughout Africa, hunting gazelle and learning the way of the tiger. Wanting a better life for their adopted human daughter, Tiger Girl 3?s feline parents used much of their savings to send her to a two-year vocational college in Gatorville, Florida. She is currently enrolled. and hopes to learn TV/VCR repair, and other skills neccessary to live in ?Man?s World.? Joining Tiger Girl 3 in her journey is her sister, Tigara, a large female tiger who serves as bodyguard, advisor and housekeeper. Seeking affordable housing for both her and her sister, Tiger Girl 3 and Tigara have taken up residence in Hero Patrol headquarters. Their dififculty in understanding the complex nature of ?Man?s World? is only made worse by the eccentric group of misfits she calls her ?Teammates.? Many specific portions of Tiger Girl 3?s personal history seem inconsistent at times, most notably the fact that Bengal Tigers do not live in Africa. Those who begin to question her story often find themselves confused, and eventually choose to focus their attention on more fulfilling endeavors such as lawn bowling or discussing the posible existance of an all-powerful omnipotent deity who oversaw the creation of this reality. Personal Appearance (Images are acceptable): Tiger Girl 3 is a busty blonde beauty who insists on wearing a tiger-striped one-piece bathing suit at all times. Around the waistline of this swimsuit is a short "fir" skirt, with fishnet stockings covering her legs and extending down to her "fir" boots. Additionally, she wears a decorative headband, making it look like she has cat-like ears on top of her head, and has a homemade tail attached to her backside. When fighting crime both she and Tigara wear a simple mask over their eyes to protect her secret identities. Personality/Behavior: Going against the negative stereotypes popular media have created for tigers, both Tiger Girl 3 and her tiger sister, Tigara, are especially calm and down-to-earth. Tiger Girl 3 credits this to a strong coserveative upbringing on the part of her ?parents,? a pair of wild Bengal tigers. Because of this she claims to find much of ?Man?s World? confusing and bizarre, believing that ?Tiger Society? is superior in every way. For someone who was allegedly raised by tigers, Tiger Girl 3 has an amazing vocabulary and language skills. This confuses most people she comes into contact with, and rightfully so. She is often quiet, fickle, but nonetheless willing to charge into battle at a moments notice. She is fiercely devoted to her sense of justice, and loyal to those she believes are her allies. Special Skills or Abilities (If any): Tiger Girl 3 is currently attending a vocational school, where she hopes to master skills important to surviving in ?Man?s World,? such as TV/VCR repair and Bookkeeping. Beyond that Tiger Girl 3 posesses the strength, speed and stamina of an average human woman who engages in moderate exercise. However, when in battle, she claims to be able to channel the ?Spirit of the Tiger,? enabling her to temporarily gain the ?Strength of a Tiger,? ?Speed of a Tiger,? ?Willpower of a Tiger,? or whatever other tiger-like attribute may seem appropriate at the time. In addition, Tiger Girl 3 believes that she can communicate with tigers. Whether or not she actually can is open for debate, as Tigara mostly does whatever she wants around the house and rarely follows orders. Other abilities, or supposed abilities have been known to make themselves known without logic or reason. -Shy
 14. The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty Welcome to the OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty of 2005. In this thread we will continue our grand tradition of awarding our totally nifty community. Those of you new to the idea may have some questions... What is it again? To put it simply, it’s a list of the fifty members, threads, or things that have made the OtakuBoards community great (‘nifty’) in the past year. You, the members, are going to nominate your favorites here in this thread, and the fifty best nominees will be chosen for the list. So whoever gets the most nominations wins? No, it doesn’t actually work like that this time around. This particular event isn’t going to boil down to a popularity contest (wait for Otaku Yearbook and regular monthly events for that,) this one is about choosing the best, and sometimes the best don’t receive the recognition they deserve. While one thing may receive seventeen nominations, another might only get one. It’s about quality here, not votes. Make sure that your arguments are strong in your nominations, because that will be the deciding factor. Sounds incredibly subjective, don’t it? Yeah, it kind of is. But we’re an equal opportunity offender here at OtakuBoards. To make sure that members from every clique and segment of the site is fairly represented, The Nifty Fifty Committee will be assembled to compile the final list, the OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty of 2005. Who are in this Nifty Fifty Committee? I’m sorry, that’s classified information. You can’t know that yet. They know who they are, and that’s all that matters for now. You’ll know when the final list is compiled. Fair enough? What kinds of things should be nominated? Anything, really. Members who really stood out this year, threads that had a big impact, great memories, current events that affected the boards in some way. Use your imagination, as I’d like a very broad spectrum of things to be present on the list. How do I nominate? I’m glad you asked. Here’s the simple form required for a nomination.
What is it? Why was it nifty?
That’s it! Some of you may still be unsure of this, though, so here's a few examples. Please keep in mind EACH MEMBER MAY ONLY NOMINATE UP TO TEN THINGS!
What is it? Team Hanzo Thread Ratings Why was it nifty? Since 'Kill Adam' came out, many members have been trying to outdo one another in terms of graphic violence and sexual content in their RPGs. The thread ratings made it safe for minors to go back into The Arena. Also, the guy who made them is incredibly handsome.

What is it? Bio Why was it nifty? With less than 100 posts Bio became a moderator for the Arena Underground, and a darn good one at that. He managed to really give the forum some order, and the whole area has improved greatly because of him.

What is it? "Having a Jessica Simpson Moment" Why was it nifty? "The point of this thread is to ask if you've ever had one of those moments where your brain simply ceases to function for brief periods of time and it caused some slight emberassment..."
Your nominations can be as long or as short as you want. Any links or images you'd like to include in your nominations are more than welcome. Just try to make your case fairly compelling, because there's going to be a whole lot of competition! Best of luck to you, and I expect this list to be a great tribute to the past year at OtakuBoards. For a look back at last year's nominations, look at this link. Any questions regarding the Nifty Fifty can be asked in this thread, or via PM. All nominations are due by January 31st. The final list will be posted a few days after. -Shy
 15. Um, yeah. I expected more activity during the holiday (historically the boards are slightly more active thanusual during the break, at least in my personal experience...) but I'm going to extend the deadline for current Red, Green and Blue mission threads by two weeks. I've been out of town myself, I apologize for the confusion. I'll try to get a PM out to everyone ASAP, since it appears not everyone reads this thread. -Shy
 16. The Legionnaires are the world?s greatest heroes, and in the shadow of their heroic deeds countless groups of imitators have spring up over time. Some of these groups are met with success, while others are not?. ?This is the story of the losers. Welcome to Hero Patrol. :::What is it?::: Hero Patrol is a parody of not only The Legionnaires, but of OtakuBoards? RPGs in general. While this story is set in the same universe as The Legionnaires, it is distant enough to be enjoyed as an independent entity. Hero Patrol hopes to satirize and glorify the various quirks, stereotypes and clichés that have plagued the boards? various storytelling efforts. This is a comedy, people. Prepare for the absurd. The characters and adventures of the Hero Patrol directly mirror those seen all-too-often in The Arena. Elemental magic, sexy assassins and tragic pasts are commonplace, and practically prerequisites for joining the group. Think of every RPG sign-up that ever made you cringe by reading it, and then imagine an entire team of them trying to fight crime together. That?s pretty much what this is all about. :::The Story::: Hero Patrol was founded for ?heroes? who for one reason or another were never invited to join The Legionnaires. These reasons are varied, and for the most part, obvious. Regardless, Hero Patrol continues to fight the good fight from their base of operations in Gatorville, Florida, and on their mobile headquarters, an 89 Chevy Astrovan. More often than not, they?re too late to save the day, or worse yet, completely unprepared for their battles. Turnover, often in the form of death, is very high for members of Hero Patrol. :::Sign-Ups::: To join Hero Patrol players must full out a sign-up thread with the following information: Code Name / Call Sign: Gender (If Applicable): Location: Age: Personal Appearance (Images are acceptable): Personality/Behavior: Personal History: Special Skills or Abilities (If any): Please be as ridiculous as you would like for sign-ups. Players will be chosen based on the humor, and quality contained in their sign-ups. :::Etcetera::: That's it. Sign-ups start now. Hero Patrol's story (or complete lack thereof) is meant to be fleshed out during the course of the RPG. Posting will follow a style similar to The Legionnaires, with players being limited to post a certain number of times per week. There is no set number of players I'd like to accept, but it will be a considerably smaller number than The Legionnaires. Questions or comments about the RPG can be directed to The Legionnaires Underground thread, located in Arena Underground. Sign-ups will last until January 13th, and the RPG will start immediately following that.
 17. Great work on starting up the new missions. I'm more excited about this round than I was for the last one, but I guess time will tell how everything turns out. A friendly reminder: Those of your participating in the Red, Blue and Green Mission threads, each player is allowed to post once every other day. I had mentioned this in the PM, but I guess some people were under the impression that there was only supposed to be one new post in the thread every other day. No, I expect each player to post in their respective mission thread every other day, heh. Sorry about the confusion. Anyways, Hero Patrol will pop up sometime during the holiday break. I can't wait to see the kinds of sign-ups we'll have... and I'll try to get that thread up as soon as possible. -Shy
 18.
And now that the secret's revealed, I bet the next round of Bilbo Baggins are executed in a completely different manner. ,:)
That's a very good guess. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. But yeah, DeadSeraphim was right. Each Team Leader (minus Silver Team) chose two players for Body Bags. One was destined to die, the other was chosen to scare them, and give them some room to expand their story. I also chose two players, which brings our grand total out to ten. Some of the choices were easier than others, especially since Who Am I? and Ajeh had elected to drop out of the project. Takuya Hero Patrol should pop up after the weekend, or maybe a little bit later... it just depends on my schedule right now. Keep checking here for more updates, heh. -Shy
 19.
Before the Body Bags ends, do we all die? or do some of us survive? (stupid question...)
Body Bags has ended, and there were five casualties in total, which is half of everyone who went into it. New Missions for Green, Red and Blue team are up. Gold Team will be launching their new mission sometime later, hopefully to coincide with the completion of Silver Team's mission. As always, questions, comments and concerns are welcome. Arachnid... Unhate... Face... Speedy and Joseph, may they rest in peace... -Shy
 20. Mission #111: Epilogue The Legionnaires? headquarters were once again silent as its? members waited for word from Kaida and the others. The speed at which she organized and dispatched her group may have surprised some, but in the team?s 30 year history emergency missions were far from being uncommon. Many had expressed their concerns to The Arbiter, asking for him to send additional back-up, but history had proven that their resources and members could only be spread so thin. The Arbiter was standing near a conference desk in the aptly titled ?War Room? of Legionnaires HQ. Since even the earliest missions he and other group leaders had worked hard to analyze each and every mission, aiming to assign members whose abilities best suited the job: ensuring the safety of the Legionnaires were always the priority, but leading a life of danger always came hand-in-hand with these risks. His flowing black cape dragged along the floor, spreading past piles of past mission briefings and other. Kaida had survived battles that a common man wouldn?t even be able to pronounce, yet she took each and every challenge with caution. Certainly she had chosen a strong team for the mission, but would even two team leaders be capable of fighting a largely unknown threat? The Arbiter lowered his head as he thought over the situation, and began to question his own motives. He removed the black, expressionless mask from his face to wipe the sweat from his brow. His face was porcelain and nearly flawless. Nearly. A single scar spread down across his handsome face. This was a side of The Arbiter rarely seen, that of the man who had experienced a lifetime of pain and loss since traveling to this world. The fear of losing another Legionnaire was growing; his would consider his years of experience useless if Kaida?s team didn?t make it out of there alive. There was a slight knock on the frame of the doorway, drawing his attention for a moment. Dr. Jessica Marlow, one of several on-site doctors, stood quietly with a tired expression on her face. ?Arbiter, is it alright if I speak to you for a moment? I might have some news?? At one point he had been much closer to Dr. Merlow, who was not only gifted with great beauty, but also one of the most brilliant minds of her time. The times had changed, and as it did so did the nature of their relationship. She walked closer to The Arbiter, looking over her own notes for a moment as she moved in towards him. ?We have been researching around the clock, and I think you can limit down the list of possible causes,? Dr. Merlow said with a sigh, ?My staff and I are no closer to finding the source of Pygmalion?s illness than we were yesterday, or the day before. We don?t believe it?s anything medical.? ?You know this isn?t the kind of news I was looking for.? ?It?s a start, Arbiter,? she placed her hand softly onto his, ?At least you know what not to focus on now.? He quickly pulled his hand away, readjusting his mask as Jessica ran her fingers through her graying hair. ?The scientist in me is baffled; the metamorphosis from flesh and blood into stone doesn?t resemble anything I?ve come across before. Oddly enough Dr.?eh, Pygmalion?s immune system and vital signs haven?t faltered a bit from what would be considered ?normal.? It?s either supernatural in nature or something else so far beyond our science that we can?t explain it.? ?And what of Augur? Is he resting?? ?We?ve yet to stabilize his condition, and introducing anything more potent than the painkillers already in his system could have serious effects in the long term.? ?And his visions are still out of control?? ?Yes, he?s still conscious. Also, it might be difficult to tell how exactly the drugs are affecting the coherency of his visions. This entire situation is a first for me, and it wasn?t too long ago that I was out adventuring with The Legionnaires myself.? ?It?s never too late,? The Arbiter?s soft blue eyes began to glow. Jessica turned her back away from him, clasping her hands together. ?It?ll never happen. Some of us chose to age gracefully, and left the heroics for the next generation,? she lowered her head as she spoke, ?The only reason I?m here at all is for you? I?m waiting for you. I?ve been waiting for you.? The Arbiter stepped towards Jessika, placing his arms on her waist and turning her around. He leaned in even closer. ?We can?t discuss this now. Pygmalion?s condition is accelerating at a dangerous pace,? The Arbiter turned towards the video monitors lining the walls, each featuring a different news feed from around the globe, ?It?s not as if we have any time for... for us. The world needs us, and The Legionnaires need you.? ?I? I understand?? she smiled, and kissed him softly on the cheek, ?and as long as it takes I?ll be be here waiting for you, my love?? The Arbiter smiled, embracing her tightly. ??Because you killed me.? There was a slight knock on the frame of the doorway. Tech, the most brilliant mind on the planet, stood there silently, watching The Arbiter hold a conversation with thin air. ?I?I?m sorry I interrupted, Arbiter. I can come back later if you want some privacy.? She blushed, not quite sure what to make of the situation. ?It?s perfectly fine, Tech.? He donned his black mask once again, reverting from man to Legionnaire in an instant, ?I was only talking to? a ghost.? ?Arbiter, we?ve just received a brief communication signal from Kaida?s group.? ?Play the message.? Instantly the multiple video screens all began showing the same image. The Green Team leader, bruised, beaten. In the background a handful of other Legionnaires could be seen, each wearing a somber expression on their face. ?This is Kaida? the temple was destroyed,? she paused, wiping sweat from her brow, ?Massive casualties. Unhate sacrificed himself? the others? Speedy, Face?I?m sorry, Arbiter?? The video quickly cut to static, shocking The Arbiter. His eyes began to glow, and he turned to Tech, infuriated. ?Where is the rest of the video feed, Tech?? Terrified, the young woman dropped her remote control device. ?That?s it. The feed was interrupted, and the ship has not responded to our constant attempts to communicate with them?? ?And where is the ship?!? ?We have it pinpointed off the South African coastline It should be on base within the hour.? Darkness spread from beneath The Arbiter?s coat, slowly shrouding the white tile floor. Tech took a step back. ?Tech, inform Sparks that I?m going to rendezvous with Kaida and the others. Prepare the medics and a quarantine unit for when we return. ?You can?t possibly go out there. If they?re infected, too, then you could be killed?. The Arbiter fully disappeared into the darkness. Only his glowing eyes remained. ?I made a mistake, Tech? Perhaps it should have been me who died in that temple.?
 21. The issue here is that inactive players need to be taken out of the story before we start killing off the ones who actually do post. I understand your concerns, Sandy, and hopefully this can be corrected in the next round of 'Bags. As for the current situation, expect the body count to rise within the next day or so. The PM(s) will be sent out in the next few hours, and should carry us through the end of the mission. The next round of missions will launch immdiately after Body Bags wraps up... these Legionnaires just never get a break, do they? Takuya, Hero Patrol will require an entirely different sign-up, and players may participate in both RPGs. Having said that, I'd like to point out that while Hero Patrol is connected to The Legionnaires in some way, it can be enjoyed without knowing anything about the event itself. Think of this as a stand-alone tale. On a different note: Do you feel that posting on a more regular basis effects the quality of the posts? Would you rather post less frequently, and have something more coherent overall? We may be switching the post system with the next round of posting. Something similar to what is being done in Body Bags seems likely. Questions? Comments? -Shy
 22.
Instead of making the Legionnaires face yet another immortal and invincible monstrosity, I split them into two groups. Melinoë is now sliding downwards with Unhate and Vernacular, and the other five - Kaida, Liquid, Arachnid, Pandora and Tetros - are carried away in another tunnel. Feel free to continue from that.
A good idea, since I believe the mission briefing suggested having the group split up in the first place. The living temple. It wanting something from The Legionnaires, all strong ideas. It's good to see the mission get back on track. Here are some suggestions to put you onto the right path...
Kaida's group stumbles across the bones of past adventurers from various centuries and eras. Murals along the walls give clues, revealing local villagers sacrifice heroes to It in exchange for protection from the curse of nightmares. Meanwhile, Vernacular and Unhate come across an underground river and are greeted by an ancient-looking man on a gondola. He introduces himself as the 'Keeper of the Beast,' and offers them a ride downstream. The Keeper explains telepathically (for he does not speak) that there are two paths to confront the Beast, and that he will guide them on theirs. He explains that It has a unique interest in Vernacular. Kaida's group is confronted by evil dopplegangers of themselves, although they don't realize what or who they are fighting at the time. They realize that the spider monster was an alternate, darker version of Arachnid. Looking in the mirrored walls they see that the roles are reversed, and instead of seeing themselves they see the dopplegangers (and vice versa.) Tetros' doppleganger (the original Tetros) reveals to the group that the one they have on their team is an imposter... but do they believe it? Along the river, Vernacular and Unhate find the body of Joseph floating face down in the water. His camera is missing. The Keeper informs them that his last thoughts were of 'being abandoned by his fellow teammates.'
Please elaborate or throw away ideas as you wish, but this is an discussion thread so have fun with it. Been a while since someone has died, huh? Gonna have to fix that. I'd check your PM boxes in a few days if I were you... -Shy
 23. As for Break, it appears he was left for dead in the Gold Team's mission. What exactly happened to him, who knows? But I'm certain he'll show up at some point in the near future. So yeah, I don't believe anyone has bothered to write for his character yet. Pretend he wasn't there, I guess. -Shy
 24.
Does that mean I'm to be involved in this Body Bags Josh ? I never got a PM and so assumed I wasn't, but that line would seem to indicate otherwise. Or am I supposed to just work out with Circéus as to what is going on with my character ?
Gavin and Circeus, you are not to be involved in the actual Body Bags threads. Your characters are more the catalyst for the mission than actual participants. You, or anyone else is welcome to post in Arbiter to expand on ideas presented in the main threads, though. -Shy
 25.
Considering that Pygmalionis apparently in too bad a shape to actually aprticipate in the mission, can I assume I can post about his own current trouble in Arbiter?
You sure can, kiddo. I think there are some very interesting points for Gavin (Augur) and yourself to elaborate on in Arbiter. Also, I love the posts so far. DeathKnight should get extra credit for his first post, and ridiculous amount of research he put into it. Great work everyone. -Shy
