I'm having an issue with the links I include on my myOtaku site. For some reason the links do not work correctly, and by clicking on them it sends them to one of those random and run "This page cannot be found" pages. The html I use for links is TEXT and only recently has this become an issue. Is there an alternate html code that I could try, or better yet, is there some explanation as to why this is happening? -Shy

This just kind of got... out of control. I'm sorry.
"Jabba the Hutt: A New Hope to the Outer Rim" Jabba the Hutt made a lasting impression on the people of the Outer Rim. His forward thinking, natural charisma and exotic roots made him a widely-respected figure to many, and a mysterious legend to others. But for every legend there is a true story, and the major effects one life had on a countless number of people and worlds. Born to a wealthy and notorious family, Jabba was destined to become one of the most influential figures in Outer Rim trade and business. The Hutts and their legendary crime cartel were big during the pioneer days of the Outer Rim, both in power and physically. Young Jabba was brought up into a universe where people were merely possessions. The lack of a proper upbringing from his parents, which is common among the Hutt race, forced him to become fiercely independent, even while following in his parents shadows at an early age. ?I was patrolling the streets of Mos Espa one day when I got an alert from my comlink,? Remembers retired security officer Nailar Vessex, ?There was a robbery taking place in one of the junkyards; my partner and I were the first to arrive on the scene. We got there and were amazed by what we saw. A young Hutt, no more than a few years old attempting to commit armed robbery. I quickly disarmed him before the kid could hurt anyone, but my partner refused to let me arrest him. ??Are you crazy? If we touch the child of a Hutt we won?t make it past tomorrow.? He said to me. With their [the Hutt?s] reputation I agreed, and by giving Jabba a chance I think in some way he was set on the right path.? Initially only dealing in gambling and loan-sharking, he quickly outgrew the ?small-time? operations that his clan was known for. Hutt expanded his enterprise to land development, construction, and farming in the region, which helped boost his fortune as the world?s population grew. Many on the planet felt that he was responsible for his planet?s growth and newfound prosperity, and this resulted in the once-private person becoming a popular public figure. The mighty alien had moved into a position of political and economic power that few others in his own clan, let alone the galaxy, had achieved. For the next chapter in his life, Jabba would look to an even greater power in the universe for help. ?Given the physical limitations of his species, Jabba couldn?t travel throughout the galaxy. Still, he stayed connected to the galaxy through the Holonet,? Said family friend to the Hutts, Arenia Locke, ?He saw that Emperor Palpatine was a man of vision, and that was something I think Jabba could admire.? Using his vast influence on public opinion, Hutt persuaded the People?s Republic of Tatooine to adopt Emperor Palpatine as their sovereign. Citing economic benefits as the primary reason for his faith in the Empire, he helped to negotiate free trade agreement between Tatooine and the Core Worlds. Meanwhile, he established the planet?s independence as one of the many self-governing states which inhabited an area of the Outer Rim commonly referred to as ?Hutt Space.? ?It [Tatooine] is a mix of alien immigrants, criminals and the native people,? Said Outer Rim Sociologist, Abba Used, ?Being an alien, immigrant, and a criminal himself, Jabba could spread the Emperor?s economic message in a way that the common people would accept. At the same time Jabba valued his independence from a strong governmental force, and had a unique relationship with the Empire which suited both of their goals.? Many were suspicious of the Hutt?s political motivations, economy on the planet boomed once it had adopted the Imperial standard of currency and exchange rates. While his fortune grew, so did Jabba himself, and his interest in public life started to fade away as a result. ?Weight was never something to be ashamed of as a Hutt,? Comments Arenia Locke, ?But living that kind of lifestyle and having so much pressure can cause someone to throw their inhibitions away. When you are on top of the world like that, it can be difficult to relate to others. It is sad when someone with so much purpose becomes trapped by their celebrity.? A personal battle with weight was just a small part of the complicated personality that was Jabba the Hutt. In his later years he had formed dangerous addictions to several black market substances, and he used his fortune to provide a never ending party within his walls. In addition to this, he had developed an unhealthy obsession with exotic creatures, hiring mercenaries and big game hunters to track down some of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy and bring them to his isolated desert palace. ?It was all a game with Jabba,? Comments Abba Used, ?He was just looking for a way to keep himself going. It is very common for species with particularly long life-spans, such as the Hutts to develop a fascination with death. By having the money that he did Jabba could take it to the extreme.? His secluded lifestyle led many to believe that Jabba had turned his attention back towards a life of crime. During his later years that he spent away from the spotlight, the growth and economic recovery he had jump-started in the sector had also faded away. Once booming spaceport cities were reduced to simple refueling stations, and exports to the Core Worlds had also suffered greatly. Like many legendary figures, Jabba?s unexpected death is even more sensational than the amazing events of his life. Leia Organa, Imperial fugitive and former senator disguised herself as an alien mercenary and snuck past the compound?s security. There she and a group of fellow criminals launched an assault, although the reasons as to why this attack happened remain uncertain, even today. Many have speculated that it had some connection to the events which had unfolded on Bespin earlier that year. ?My suspicions right away were raised when Boussh [Organa?s alias] had entered Jabba?s palace,? Said Elis Modon, Givin pilot and eyewitness to the scene, ?There was definitely some tension between Jabba the Hutt and Leia; we were all expecting a blaster to be drawn.? At one point Organa revealed that she was carrying an illegal thermal detonator, and threatened to kill everyone in the room if her demands were not met. Hutt?s elite security force had managed to capture former Senator Organa and her associates before anyone else could be injured. With the Imperial fugitives in his posession, Jabba made a decision to surrender them immediately to the Mos Epris Imerial detention center, located nearby. Unfortunately tragedy struck. While attempting to transfer the prisoners, the second wave of Leia?s attack force began their assault. Explosions rocked the hull of his sail barge, killing nearly a dozen civilians within the ship. During the chaos Leia and the other prisoners had escaped, and began to ruthlessly murder everyone on board. Bodyguards were helpless as the threat of fire and blaster bolts quickly spread throughout the small sail barge. Within minutes Jabba and his associates had fallen victim to an attack by the Rebel Alliance. Jabba the Hutt?s body was uncovered days later by a squad of Imperial Sandtroopers; a formal autopsy revealed burns covering over 75% of his body, with the cause of death likely to have been asphyxiation. ?A lot of people these days don?t think of Jabba the Hutt as someone who had a difficult upbringing and brought a new hope to the economy, or even as the brilliant entrepreneur who standardized trade and travel on the planet Tatooine. His early years with the Hutt Cartel, and his murder were just small parts in a long and very memorable life, but people just choose to focus on the negative,? Explains Locke. Even beyond his death, the legacy of Jabba the Hutt continues on the Outer Rim planets he took on as his adopted home. Local politicians carry on his mission to unify the people of the pioneer worlds, and form a strong and independent economy. Jabba?s commitment to the Empire was above all his greatest gift to the people of Tatooine; and those within his sector will feel the effects of that partnership for many years to come.
-Shy

I really don't thinking banning a member from the forum is the best way to handle the situation. Members should be somewhat well-informed about the people they are letting into their RPG; if they have a history of dropping out of RPGs then there is no reason they should be let in. Although I do think that quality should be put first before activity in a thread, it is bad when the creator puts an awful lot of effort into a project and nobody decides to post. As others have mentioned before, we all have other activities and responsibilities that should be the priority over OB. Things come up, and that's completely understandable -- but if you aren't able to post in an RPG you should let the creator know right away so they have a chance to replace you, or work around your absence. Before the schoolyear began I saw that my online time was going to be severely diminished, so I was forced to drop out of two RPGs that I was very excited about. I didn't think it was fair to take up a role in an RPG if I was unable to devote a fair amount of attention. Signing up for an RPG is a commitment -- it's not a contract. If someone fails to post in an RPG they sign-up for it only speaks poorly for them as a member, and shows a lack of responsibility. In 'hero' one of the players, who had a very important role in the story seems to have completely disappeared from the boards. In this case I chose to remove his character entirely rather than replace him. While I'm annoyed that he has disappeared from the face of the Earth and slowed down the activity of my RPG, I'm more angry that he did not give any type of warning before leaving. So yeah, we're not banning anyone. The best advice I can give is to create compelling RPGs that people will want to post in, and select RP-ers for the project that will stick around until it ends. -Shy

As I said on AIM, it's funny that you had this idea since not too long ago I developed a similar concept myself. The documentary approach is something really unique to RPGs on the boards, and I think above all this separates it from the type of approach myself and others would have taken with it. I'm wondering how the documentary-style approach is going to affect the pacing of the RPG. While it may be entertaining to hear about the Empire's capture of Han Solo on Bespin and it's political repercussions throughout the galaxy, is there going to be some sort of storyline and a regular set of characters throughout these documentaries? By that I mean, we all know the story of Star Wars. Are we going to build off of the existing universe and create a story of our own within the RPG, or is the fun in this RPG just seeing the other side of things, and not going much further than that? I really hope that made sense. Having said that, this is the most clever approach to doing a Star Wars RPG that I have ever seen. Members should use this as an example for creating interesting and innovative RPGs of their own. When using something as universally recognized as the Star Wars triliogies, you have a lot of freedom to defy conventions and make people think about the stories in a different way. A documentary-style approach is something you couldn't neccessarily do with a new set of characters and events, people need a point of reference that only an existing property can provide. Good work, I look forward to seeing it. -Shy
Josh sent me a message last night (which my phone recieved at 4:55 am. You psycho) commenting on my Kill Adam post and he said it was my best one yet. I find this sort of amusing because when I read it, I think it is sloppy and sometimes doesn't flow the way I want it to. James used the word "concise" when describing it and said that he liked that it didn't go so much into detail. Point in fact, that's what I DIDN'T like about it, because I'm such a stickler to the details. I don't know; I really enjoyed how it turned out, though, and I am glad that Arianna got to kill the bride. Mwahahaha.[/color']
I loved the little conversations you had in the side column of your post. That part in particular seemed so interesting; it fit Ariana's character perfectly. When reading it I thought "Poor Ariana. I hope she gets to be happy at the end of this thing." But then I realized that my character had killed her just a few chapters ago. Oh well, dead characters are the most interesting ones, anyway. -Shy

What fascinates me about this story is that another version of "The Scream" (There are four in total) was stolen just a few years ago; it really makes you wonder if the museums have poor security for a reason. When these paintings are stolen it generates a lot of publicity, and although it may not be recovered, having such fame significantly increases the value of the artwork. Some of the most famous paintings of all time have been auctioned for tens of millions of dollars. Of course, nobody is going to pay that much for "The Scream" when they can just rip it off the wall and walk out the door. There is a major flaw in the logic to all this.... -Shy

Sage: Don't worry about it. I wasn't targeting anyone in particular; I haven't contributed to the MyHero site as much as I should, seeing as I created the darned thing. It may seem like I'm neglecting you and Shinmaru, but I have a very specific role for your characters in the story, and as of right now they aren't really needed. Vivica has a big part in all of this, but the story is being pushed in a certain direction and I'm going to try and advance the plot, as opposed to introducing everyone's character at once. So yeah, you rock, and that's why you're in the RPG. I know you'll put some excellent stuff in "hero" when you have the chance. My Husband, the Superhero Part 1 Every day, morning, noon, and night Mary Harrison would have delicious meals prepared for the family she loved. It was something she took pride in, and she put extra time into suiting the individual tastes of her husband and children. No mustard for Thomas, extra pickles for Sandra, and a special note for Richard, the man she fell in love with 15 years ago. He was a simple man; no particular interests or hobbies of note, but he was a hard worker, and and loyal, things that Mary found to be much more attractive than any physical attribute could be. Their daily routine was set in stone. Every morning Mary would wake up to make breakfast, wake up her family, and pack them special lunches for the day ahead. The children would leave for school first, always running a little bit late, but never late enough to miss the schoolbus, and this would leave Mary and Richard some time to themselves. It was this 45 minutes that kept Mary going through her day, their time together was something she cherished, and although it became less intimate over the years (as Richard aged, so did his drive for such things) it was still the thing she looked forward to the most. Sometimes they would sit around and talk about his job at the steel mill, others they would look through old photo albums and remember friends and family they have long since fallen out of touch with, and on the especially rare occasions they would go out. Instead of taking the bus like Richard normally would Mary would walk her husband to work, laughing and holding his hand like a lovesick teenager. Richard would kiss his wife goodbye, and Mary would walk home by herself, in a hurry to make up for lost time. Her non-stop routine of cleaning, cooking, and shopping never seemed to end. Where most housewives seemed satisfied with only a few hours of work, Mary never tired, and would scrub and re-scrub every bit of her small apartment until Richard and the children arrived home. It was her obsession. Not once did she take a break, not once did she give herself a day off. Not having a career of her own, Mary dedicated herself to her work. If all she could do was provide a clean house and a warm dinner waiting for her family then she would do it better than anyone else. For 15 years, on and on this had continued, and for 15 years Mrs. Mary Harrison perfected his skills, and mastered the fine art of housekeeping. On the very rare occasion that she entertained company, or had a visitor, they would marvel at how spotless and immaculate the house was. One of her childhood friends, who she had not seen in several years (who has time for friends when there is a house to clean?) was especially impressed and worried about Mary's unwaivering devotion to cooking and housework. "You won't go to your deathbed until there is a roast in the oven," she laughed. Mary smiled politely, and asked her friend to step aside for a moment so that she could vacuum the carpet. Then one day something changed. It was six o'clock, the children had been home for a few hours, like always, and like always, dinner had been prepared and was ready to be served. But unlike always, unlike every day that had passed before, Richard wasn't there. He always came home by six, what if something had happened to him? Mary worried, and called up the steel mill. According to his foreman, Richard had left work at 5:30, just like he always did. The steel mill hadn't held him any longer, perhaps it was the bus. An hour passed, and then two, dinner was growing cold, and it was going to be the children's bedtime soon. Sandra and Thomas seeemd unphased by this change in the schedule. When Thomas asked where his father was, Mary feigned a smile, and replied, "They need him to work late at the steel mill tonight. He'll be home soon enough." Mary served her children dinner, noticably upset, and watched television with them to ease her nerves, the dishes could wait tonight. The kids insisted on watching some children's cartoons, but in-between commercial breaks Mary would flip to Channel 2, KeyTV, to see if anything about Richard was on that night's news report. Nothing. There was the occasional blurb about the President, a crisis brewing in the Soviet Union, but nothing about her husband... or perhaps she wasn't looking close enough. A new superhero in Key City, The Mark, had just recently been spotted on the city streets, not more than a few blocks from the Harrison residence. Witnesses claimed he had foiled an armed robbery by himself, an impressive feat for a new vigilante with no known superpowers. After watching the report Mary felt a little more at ease. If her hunch was correct, then her husband was fine. In fact, he was extraordinary. She tucked her children into bed that night with a smile on her face, and washed the dishes with newfound pride in her work, daydreaming of the Gateway to Freedom, and humming to herself for the first time in years. It was 10 o'clock, and Richard entered through the front door. He was breathing heavily, like he had just been through a workout, and smoking a cigarette. Mary rushed over to him, and pulled the cigarette from his lips. "I don't care who you are Richard," Mary put out the cigarette in a potted plant nearby, "You know the rules about smoking." He stared at her for a moment, placed his jacket on the coat rack, and walked into the bedroom. Mary stayed a step behind him, asking him a barrage of questions about where he had been for the past four hours. Richard remained silent. "We're in this together, Richard," Mary said hesitantly."This is a marriage. I have every right to know where you are when you disappear for four hours at a time." "I'm tired, Mary. We'll discuss this another time. Good night." Without saying another word, Richard quickly fell asleep on the bed in front of her. She sighed, and moved back to the kitchen. Mary wasn't going to get any sleep tonight, but she could get an early start on tomorrow's lunches... -Shy

He tends to be very friendly and caring, in spite of the fact that he was created to destroy Megaman, and take over the world. However, he is not the most intelligent 'bot around, and his naivity tends to be taken advantage of by other people, machines, and the occasional villain. Background: Hard Man was created by the evil Dr. Wiley in order to fulfill his dreams of world domination. Like his previous two attempts, this one was a resounding failure, and a single blue android managed to botch the entire operation. After Dr. Wiley's supposed "death" all of the robot warriors were forced to find other work, and Hard Man has been searching for steady income ever since. Skills/Qualifications: Hard Man have hard robot skin, and not get hurt easily. He also lift heavy things, much more than normal robot could do. Hard Man use hard knuckles to smash! This is an all-purpose thread that will provide supplementary stories, poetry and artwork for the "hero" universe created by the players. In addition to this, myHero will be used as a home for discussions related to the RPG. MyHero has been transferred over to the Underground, where I think it will have a bit more exposure. Players (including myself) have mostly forgotten about the site, which is one of the more exciting prospects of "hero." So I encourage all of the players to use this thread to expand upon the ideas and characters they, and the other players present. I'm very pleased with the work so far, and Issue #4 is going to rock. I look forward to seeing where this thread develops... Next Issue: Pinnacle by Zidargh, Shinmaru
"Heroes of Key City" Excerpt from Lenmark Travel Agency's Brochure about visiting Key City ...and as you have seen on television, and in the newspapers, Key City is home to a very special league of superheroes, The Guardians. Founded in 1949, the group has since pursued it's goal of "Bringing evil-doers to the justice and helping individuals the world-over have a chance at the American dream" to great success. In 1954, after saving the Key City police station from an army of mechanized monsters, the citizens of Key City thanked their heroes by constructing them a special base of operations. The Gateway to Freedom is located in the geographical center of Key City; however, due to privacy issues The Guardians do not allow public tours of the facility. The Lenmark Travel Agency takes time to stop by this historical landmark on it's "Guardian Getaways" tour. In addition to The Gateway to Freedom, the tour visits other areas of Key City that showcase The Guardians' illustrious history. One such stop is the Key City Observatory, where Guardians Silver Eagle and Little Hawk batted the nefarious Dr. Cyclone. Like the motto says, justice always prevails in Key City, and the evil Dr. Cyclone was defeated before any damage could be done. Your guide will provide all sorts of interesting stories about the Guardians, which are proven to be fun and educational for the whole family. Be sure to have your cameras ready, at any moment one of those masked crimefighters could fly by for a great photo opportunity!

The daughter is a sexy character. But I was wondering about this whole leader of the den of snakes thing. When I do rp with her, that means she wont be able to go anywhere on her own (what crime boss does that?). So when I do rp, will I have to implement multiple character ideas and feelings or am I supposed to make a bunch of one dimensional side items who just stand around while the daughter works?
If you read the original post featuring The Daughter you'll see that the Den of Snakes was poorly guarded (Yasuo felt that his daughter was the only real protection neccessary, other members of his entourage were no more than decoration.) Whether or not she keeps her father's entourage is entirely up to you. She may choose to recruit her own group, or just do everything solo. For reference, Yasuo's daughter appeared in my posts in Osaka Underground, Diaz and the Autostrada, and the footnotes to Trailer Park Wars. -Shy

Track 10: Summertime Killer ?I?d die for that man in a heartbeat, Joshua. He?s the most sadistic bastard I?ve ever met; being around him is almost intoxicating.? ?Then why do you seem so concerned about tonight?s mission?? ?It's the target, Arai... I know the name well.? ?You mean you two??? ?Business partners, asshole. I once held a notable investment in Arai Oil, but that was years ago. Oil is one of the filthiest things on Earth, and so are the people who deal with it. At the time, it was just another addictive substance that falls under the realm of the Diaz Corporation.? ?I wouldn?t go as far as comparing petrol to heroin, Jeanette.? ?I?ve dealt with business men, prostitutes and kings, Cowboy and there are there are three things they all have in common: They all need to breathe, they all need to fuck and they all need oil. Look at your glut of a nation, and dare to tell me otherwise.? ?---And the same can?t be said for electricity, or food, or water?? ?I?ve yet to witness a war that was waged over electricity. Even our fearless leader knows this. It?s surprising that you haven?t seen the true motivation behind tonight?s mission.? ?He?s keeping secrets from us, isn?t he?? ?How can you expect any less when his protégé wears a mask???I know you don?t trust him, Jamie, we all know that, and if it weren?t for his help in reducing your prison sentence, you wouldn?t be here. But we do owe him more than a few favors, it?s the price we pay for getting ourselves into this business.? ?That isn?t true. Even if he didn?t help me out of prison, I?d still be here.? ??and why is that?? ?Because you?re here, and I love you,? Jamie held his lover?s hand tightly, ?I want to make sure you get through this okay. If things get too rough, or those bitches double-cross us... get out of there, and let me take care of it.? Joshua began to tremble, ?You?re starting to make me worry, Jamie. It?s not like I?ve never done this type of work before. We don?t even know what the assignment is yet.? He kissed Jamie on lips, ?Just believe in me, I can take care of myself.? The two entered Adam?s office hand-in-hand to discover that the rest of the group had already been waiting for them. Never settling for less than the best, the room had furnished with expensive leather couches. The large group of assassins sat comfortably, preparing for Adam and Lelia to explain the evening?s mission. Adam rose from his seat, and greeted the small audience. ?Thank you all for joining us here tonight,? He said, masking his voice beneath a faux Japanese accent, ?I believe this will be everyone.? ?A small group,? Lelia noted with a hint of excitement in her voice, ?Are you planning on getting your hands dirty tonight, Adam?? ?Not exactly. I will remain here while the rest of you fulfill tonight?s objectives.? Persona nodded as Adam spoke, drawing attention from the other Angels. While Adam was as cold and calculating as Persona, the grotesque mask worn by the Death Adder was a distracting to the rest of the group. Even in his allies, it instilled a lingering sense of fear and distrust. ?...and what the hell are these objectives, Adam? You?re dropping this mission on us at the last minute!? Jamie barked, cutting into the deadly silence Persona had created. Taken back by Jamie?s tone, Arianna revealed her chain whip to him. Following her leader?s explicit instructions, Erotica and the rest of the Angels were ready to take him out at a moment?s notice. Joshua placed his hand on Jamie?s thigh, weakening his lover?s objection with the slightest bit of affection. ?I just want to know what we are getting ourselves into, Love,? Jamie sighed, ?It?s not typical to get the assignment so late.? ?You?ve always given us more notice about these things; We are behind this mission 100 percent, whatever it is.? Joshua added. ?We all--? Jeanette laughed softly, ?Well, most of us trust you Adam, darling. Why have you been keeping us in the dark for so long?? ?I apologize,? Adam answered with a cold expression on his face, ?For several months this has been in the planning, and aside from Lelia, I have been forced to keep it as a closely guarded secret. It?s not a trust issue, as all of you at one point or another have risked your lives for my business ventures. Some of you only work for me part-time, and this information could put you in danger. My enemies might try to force my secrets out of you when you are not under my web of protection.? ?Especially some of the more inexperienced Angels; they just aren?t able to take care of themselves.? Lelia spoke directly to Ariana. More than a simple employee, not quite an equal, Miss Angelo held a special place of honor and respect among the Angels. It was her insider knowledge of the Osaka Underworld, and her talent for finding talent that brought the entire night together in the first place. Adam may have had the idea and the ambition, but it was Lelia who made it a reality. She was his number one, and that was something that Ariana refused to accept. ?Tonight we?re going to shape the destinies of not just ourselves, but all of Japan.? The tall man was annoyed by this constant in-fighting. ?We are going to eliminate the gangs and families that have been running Osaka for decades, and by doing so take control of the city streets. Your mission is to eliminate any opposition that may stand in our way: do it swiftly, and do it silently. By dawn I will have absolute power.? ?Absolute Power? You know what they say about that...? Everyone in the room had been thinking the same thing, but only Ann Dominion was dumb enough to say it. ?Switch,? Lelia leaned into Ann, and gently ran her fingers through the young girl?s hair. ?If this plan had not been fully thought-out, we wouldn?t ask you to undertake this mission.? ?I?I? understand,? Ann stared nervously at the large assortment of blades that Miss Angelo kept nestled in her beautiful locks of hair.. The Fallen Angel redirected her focus towards everyone, no longer singling out Switch, ?You will kill each and every one of the crime lords that call his city home. That includes their bodyguards, their associates, their wives, and even their fucking accountants. If any of them do not pledge their full loyalty to Adam, you know what steps must be taken.? ?I believe that most of these loosely bound organizations will fall quickly.? Adam said. ?Once a major center of power have been eliminated, the others will become much less of a threat.? He pulled a packet of photographs from his desk and tossed it into the ground, ?Ken Blaze is the leader of Tokyo?s infamous drug cartel, The Night Riders. Much of Osaka?s black market dealings are operated under the watch of this man or his associates. ?Tonight is the wedding of Tamiko Blaze, Ken?s only daughter and offspring, and Naganori Arai, the young President and CEO of the Arai Oil Company. Their union in holy matrimony will take place a mile offshore aboard Naganori?s private luxury ship. They are a powerful couple, and I expect anywhere from 35 to 60 armed bodyguards on board the vessel, not counting their personal assassins, and Naganori himself, who is extremely deadly. ?Kill them all.?

Age: 17 months Gender: N/A (Disguised as a male) Year: Freshman Appearance: When attending classes Vending Unit 68-BSL2 wears his school uniform and matching tie. On the rare occasion that he is invited to a social event, it has many different sets of clothing to wear. Alignment: Neutral Extra Subjects: Engineering, Hair and Beauty, Metalwork and Forgery Accommodation: Vending Unit 68-BSL2 lives on campus at Tokyo High School in one of the hallways, near the other vending machines. Bio: Vending Unit 68-BSL2 was created in the Otakatama Vending Machine Manufacturing Plant in Azabu Juuban, Japan. Due to a flaw in the design proccess, all 68-BSL2 Vending Units were given advanced artificial intelligence. This gave the simple vending machines sentience and human emotions, which made for some very bizarre situations. Many 68-BSL2 Vending Units would suffer from post-partum depression after dispensing the sweet candy treats that it was filled with, while others became jealous of the more popular vending machines and sabotaged them. This became a problem for the manufacturers, and they were forced to issue a full recall of every 68-BSL2 Vending Unit in Japan. However one unit, the protagonist of our story, managed to escape the recall and continued to reside in the hallways of it's home at Tokyo High School. The months passed, and the vending machine became tired of his existance. There must be something more to life than giving candy bars and pocky to high school students, it thought, and over time he became jealous of the teenagers. Vending Unit 68-BSL2 felt used by them, and all it ever got in return was a large amount of coins. One day it made a decision to change it's destiny, and enroll in the high school as a student. Vending Unit 68-BSL2 goes through the same trials and tribulations as any teenager, cleverly disguise as mild-mannered teenager Takeo Otakatama. Takeo does not understand humanity, or the human emotions that he was programmed with, but tries his best to get along with his classmates. He works especially hard to be friendly with others, even though many of the students pick on him for being large, metallic and square. Nobody realizes that Takeo Otakatama was once the school's vending machine, nor do they notice the outrgaeously long extension cord coming out of his back and connecting him to an electrical outlet. His biggest fear is that his secret identity as a vending machine will be revealed. Special Powers/Abilities: Being a vending machine, Takeo Otakatama has the average strength, speed, and vendability of a standard vending machine. In addition to this, Takeo is blessed with highly advanced artificial intelligence, and is capable of making extremely annoying and profoundly logical statements. Also, he has the ability to feel emotions similar to those of a human being, although he has no clear understanding of them. He is filled with wonderful Japanese snack treats of all shapes and sizes, and can dispense them at will. If provoked, Takeo can launch these treats at excessively high speeds, using a standard piece of pocky or a donut as a deadly projectile weapon. Sworn Enemy: Beverage Despensing Unit G45-12IO, who resides in the same hallway that Takeo calls home. It knows his secret identity, and although it's A.I. is not as advanced as Takeo's, it can be extremely manipulative in attempting to achieve it's goal of world domination. -Shy -
Yeah, it's kinda upsetting. Really though, Ra's is not that obscure of a villain to anyone who has watched the cartoon or read any of the comics. He's one of the 4 villains who really totally deserves his own film (Joker, Bane, Ra's, Mr. Freeze). ]
Batman has always had his "Big 4" villains (Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler) that are instantly recognizable, and much more marketable. If asked to name a Batman villain, most people would respond with one of those as their answer. Being the nerd I am, I can't wait to see Ra's in a motion picture, but I do see the flaw of having a Bat-film with no instantly recognizable or marketable villain. From what I know,
Scarecrow's appearance in the film is little more than an extended cameo.
Perhaps he will have a larger role in the sequel, I certainly hope so.
And I'm pretty sure they'll try to redo Freeze and Bane at one point or another. Clayface in the cartoon was great (crap in the comics), so hopefully they'd try to borrow some from there if they feature him someday. Killer Croc is nothing more than a thug. And seeing as he's one of the least plausible villains in the rogues gallery (well Clayface and a few others are also, but they have more involving storylines), he really shouldn't be in anything but like the 12th or 15th Batman film.
I'm pretty much basig my opiions of Clayface, Killer Croc, and the more obscure villains off of what I have seen them do in B:TAS. That one cartoon did more to build up Batman's rogues gallery than the previous 60 years of comics. Heck, it gave us Harley Quinn! Nobody would even consider putting Mr. Freeze in a film had Paul Dini and crew transformed him from a Captain Cold rip-off to one of the more tragic figures in comicdom. I will defend the B:TAS version of Killer Croc until my last breath. The fact that he was a simple thig made him incredibly entertaining. While the other villains come up with brilliant schemes and elaborate traps to defeat Batman, all Croc usually does it try to beat the tar out of him. And it works much more often than one would expect. As a solo act he isn't much of a threat, but the animated series proved that pairing two second-tier foes can make for a very entertaining story (Harley and Ivy, Croc and Baby Doll, etc.) These are comic book movies, and it bothers me when people say how unrealistic or ridiculous it would be to put a character like Clayface in the films, while arguing that Mr. Freeze deserves his own film. This isn't a movie about World War 2, a suspension of disbeflief is required to remotely enjoy any of these films.
And Hush was a crime to Batman comics if you don't count the artwork. Everyone saw it coming a mile away, and once it did, it turned out that the villain had the least believable motive I'd ever heard of in my entire life. Just pathetic. And then there's the "villain parade" that's so typical of Loeb's story arcs. If they did make it into a movie, it would ONLY be ok because of the 1-minute-long Batman/Superman fight.
Hush is slowly developing into one of the more interesting Bat-foes, and is probably the most significant contribution to the rogue's gallery since Bane. Someone, or something has taken on the persona of Hush again, and is running around in the Batman comics causing all sorts of trouble. I like the idea of Hush being so manipulative, and if nothing else his appearance is very striking. The fact that everyone in Gotham was suspected to be Hush at one point says a lot. It's not often you can accuse Comissioner Gordon and the Joker as being major suspects in the same crime. Once you get down to it, there aren't many good Batman villains left.

[strike]Joker[/strike] Killed in Batman
[strike]Penguin[/strike] Killed in Batman Returns
[strike]Catwoman[/strike] Killed by Halle Berry
Riddler Alive!
[strike]Two-Face[/strike] Killed in Batman Forever
[strike]Mr. Freeze[/strike] Killed by Joel Schumaker
[strike]Poison Ivy[/strike] Killed by Joel Schumaker
[strike]Bane[/strike] Killed by Joel Schumaker
Now onto what we have left..

Ra's Al Gul
Scarecrow
Mad Hatter
Harley Quinn
Lady Shiva
Killer Croc
Clayface
Rat Man (or whatever his name is)
Man-Bat
Hush
The Puppeteer and Scarface
*insert painfully obscure villains here*
I'm probably forgetting someone important, but that's not exactly an all-star team. Visually, some of the more interesting villains are left, but they suffer from some terrible origins, or are just boring to begin with. A lot of people seem to love Man-Bat, but I think if you are planning to do a Man-Bat movie you might as well pull out the Lazarus Pit and resurrect someone better instead. Needless to say, the Batman universe has more quality material to work with than any other comic book property. I'd gladly pay full admission to see any of them duke it out with Batman on the big screen (except for the rat guy.) That's my Bat-rant. Thank you. Even with mediocre villains, there is still an awful lot to work with. I'm looing forward to whatever direction the new series of Batman movies decides to take, whether that being a complete relaunch of continuity, or using different characters that haven't had a chance to appear on the big screen before. -Shy

George was relaxing in his quarters, sipping some tea and reading the latest issue of "Plantation Owner's Monthly" when he heard a loud knocking at the door. He quickly threw on his powdered wig and went to see who it was. Upon opening the door, a phantom cream pie appeared out of nowhere and slammed into George's face. "Simon," He grumbled, wiping away bits and pieces of pie off of him, "What brings you to my doorstep?" "I dunno, got bored." The spectre replied, readying another set of pastries for an assault, "Everyone is running around, chasing aliens. I figured you might be more entertaining, thinking you are George Washington and all." "I am George Washington!" George shouted slamming the door in anger. A moment passed, and George opened it again from curiosity, "Did I hear you correctly, aliens?" A second pie flew into the president, "Yeah, aliens." "I'm not familiar with this term. Explain." Several minutes passed, and Simon explained to George everything that he knew about aliens, most of which he had learned from popular television series and books. "These "aliens" are technologically advanced?" "Yes, very much so. But they look like Emus." "Emus?" Several more minutes passed as Simon explained to George everything he knew about Emus, although most of that information was incorrect -- Simon seemed to confuse Emus and Ostriches. "So, if I can find these "aliens," they might be able to travel through time. They could send me back to my own time! Let us go find these aliens, capture them and force them to send me back in time." "How are you going to do that?" "With my squirrel-hunting rifle, and my steed." "Steed?" "Smarty Jones!!" Clomp, Clomp, Clomp! "You have been keeping a horse inside of your apartment?" "Not just any horse, the winner of this year's Kentucky Derby." "You stole the horse than won the Kentucky Derby," Simon grinned with delight, "That's awesome! I'd love to help you and your horse capture those aliens. Let's do it!"
Nope. Katie Holmes is in the movie, but she is playing somebody named Rachel Dodson (you can check on IMDB, or if you look real hard, then maybe on Batman-on-Film). Talia is nowhere in sight at this point. It makes me sad. Also the composer for the Batman film is the same dude who did Memento and Insomnia and some other stuff completely and utterly unworthy. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I figure he'll either rip off Elfman's theme or come up with an original bowser.
There's always the chance that Talia could show up in a sequel, or something. It's a shame that they are taking away many of the things that make Ras-Al Goul an awesome villain (Talia, Lazarus Pit), but I'm thrilled that they are putting him in a movie at all. For the most part he is an obscure villain, but I guess they don't have many options left. I'd love to see Clayface or Killer Croc in a Batman film; or Hush... mmm, Hush... As for the composer, I think it is going to be a difficult job for anyone to come up with something as great as Danny Elfman's Batman theme. I'd rather see them use pieces of previous scores, but Warner Brothers wants to start fresh with the franchise... goodbye continuity.
What does everyone think of Jessica Alba being casted as The Invisible Girl/Woman in the Fan4 movie? I have reservations. Sue Storm has always been a fairskinned blonde. Jessica Alba is... well... partially Mexican, Spanish, and Indian (I looked it up). Her skin is so dark, she looks very strange with blonde hair (she played Jessica Simpson in a MadTV sketch). Then again, I'm just being picky and a little upset because I wanted Alba to play another superheroine.
Out of the casting for that movie, I think Jessica Alba is the worst decision they have made so far. It's pretty much the same issue I had with all of those "Beyonce Knowles as Lois Lane" rumors that were appearing all over the web a few months ago. It's lame that they would cast someone who obviously isn't right for the part. Also, the actor they cast to play Johnny Storm is so white that he is practically transparant. They are supposed to be biological brother and sister, they don't look anything alike. I have also heard that they are basing the F4's origins off of the "Ultimate Fantastic Four" comic, as opposed to the original. I'm not a big fan of Ultimate F4, in fact I never really sat down and read it until the second story-arc began. Could someone point out the differences in their origins to me? -Shy

A few words about Halle Berry... Storm has been my favorite X-Person since I first took an interest in the characters. If you actually sit down and read an older issue of X-Men you'll discover what a minor role she tends to play in the stories. Although she is one of, if not (arguably) the most powerful member on the team they don't give her much to do. Her most important Storm storyline is probably the one where she takes control of the Morlocks, or her battles with the Shadow King. Other than that Storm is a greatly respected member on the team, regardless of the fact that she only has minor roles in the X-Men's greatest stories. So it should come as no surprise to anyone that Storm does absolutely nothing in the movies. If it weren't for Halle's complaining she would have had an even smaller part in X2. Cyclops is the one who really got the shaft in that film; he had a brief few scenes in the beginning and was knocked unconcious until the end. It's a sad day when Cyclops ends up with a brief cameo because Halle Berry wanted a larger part to show off her ACADEMY AWARD-WINNING talents No, wait, she doesn't even try with the small role she has in the films. Her accent changed wildly from scene to scene in the first movie, and in the sequel it disappeared entirely. She shows no respect for the source material, and just assumes that she give Storm the same half-assed treatment that she does to every other role. This woman needs to realize that nobody is going to see an X-Men film because Halle Berry is in it. They are seeing an X-Men film to see their heroes come to life on the big screen, or to see a great action film. Turning it into "Halle Berry in X-Men" is a slap in the face to everyone who ever cared about the character. But she continues to complain because her part was not significantly larger than the 10+ co-stars she appeared in the film with. I'm sorry to break this to her, but she isn't the only Academy-Award Winning actor in the group, she isn't even the only Academy-Award Winning actress. Anna Paquin, who does a great job as Rogue, won the award when she was only a small child. Did she have to show her breasts to win it? I think not. The world does not revolve around her, although she tries to change that. She continues on her path of destruction, demanding that every movie she appears in become some sort of "Halle Berry vehicle." The prime example of this is Catwoman, a movie which is connected to the comic book character by name only. What other female comic characters are there left to destroy? Perhaps she can take over the role of the Invisible Woman, or Lois Lane, or heck-- why not The Incredible Hulk? Halle Berry want larger role! Halle Berry Smash! -Shy

Hm, fun. Spider-Man 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 There are going to be a lot of Spider-Man movies, regardless of which actors decide to stick around and which ones don't. It's looking like the core cast (Tobey, Kirstyn, and director Sam Raimi) only want to do three films, but that doesn't prevent a whole new team from taking over and producing Spider-Man films. The Batman film series changed it's cast halfway through the series, although the results sucked. More Spider-Man movies would make me happy, and changing the main cast would make me even happier. Assuming that the third film is as profitable as the first two are, there's no reason not to continue making movies. As for potential villains, things have clearly been set-up for Green Goblin 2 being the main villain in the next film. How this is played out is going to be interesting, because it obviously needs to be more than a simple rehash of the first Green Goblin. Venom is one of the "Big Three" Spider-Man villains, in my opinion, right up there with the Green Goblin and Doc Ock. I doubt they would cram him into the same film with Green Goblin, but if the movie series does continue I would expect him to show up in a fourth film. John Jamison is an astronaut, after all, and someone has to bring the Venom to Earth. My bet is that we'll end up with John Jamison as Venom, as opposed to the original Venom, Eddie Brock. Adding Carnage to the mix just makes things too crowded, though. I doubt we'll ever see Carnage in a Spider-Man movie, but if the character of Venom is popular enough in Spidey 4 perhaps we'll see him appear in a Venom spin-off. I like TN's theory about Green Goblin hiring allies to help him defeat Spider-Man. The Rhino, Elektro, Shocker, Sandman... pretty much any of Spider-Man's enemies could make some sort of appearance here. I doubt that the Lizard will, since I think if the series continues long enough he will end up becoming the main villain in his own movie. X-Men 3, X-Men 4? I don't remember what happened to the rumors of X-Men 3 and 4 being filmed at the same time. I'm not sure if that is still a possibility, but it seems like the best direction to take. The X-Men movies have a very large ensemble cast, and it might be difficult to get the together to film two separate movies. Especially people like Halle Berry, who seems unhappy with Storm's small role in the films, and doesn't want to play the character any more. Like Spider-Man, the X-Men have a nearly unlimited number of great stories and characters that could be adapted into a feature film. People seem to be pushing towards the Pheonix Saga being done in the the third film, although I'd like to have a film or two with Jean Grey dead, to make it more dramatic when the Pheonix bursts onto the scene. I don't expect the movies' Pheonix Saga to take place in outer space at all; they'll probably write it off as being a very advanced mutation, which is how the comics have placed it currently, I believe. I think that's for the best: a lot of casual moviegoers wouid be turned off at the sight of Shi-ar battle cruisers. But Sentinels are cool. I want to see a Sentinel is my X-Movie, darn it! Even just one would be nice, I'm not asking for Master Mold or anything... just one, please? Hulk 2 I'm sure there is going to be a Hulk 2 someday, but it's going to be a much different film than the original. The first one was incredibly dark, which is probably the wrong direction to take with the character in a feature film. As for villains, I always felt like the Hulk's arch-enemy was the Hulk himself... I'm sure it will be some random monster like the Abomination, and the two will pound each other into the ground for two hours. Yay for violence; it sells toys. Daredevil 2 / Elektra I'm expecting good things from the Elektra movie, even though Jeniffer Garner is completely wrong for the part. It's going to be one of the big action movies next Summer; and although I know very little about the plot, I've read that it's a prequel of sorts. Ben Affleck doesn't want to do Daredevil 2, which is fine because nobody wanted him to play Daredevil in the first place. If another Daredevil film is made, I'd expect to see an entirely new cast. It's much cheaper that way, and they have a chance to make a fresh approach to the character, as opposed to trying to continue in the vein of the original. Fantastic Four Yay! My favorite superhero family is coming to the big screen. The Fantastic Four are one of Marvel's classic titles, and it would be a huge disgrace to ruin them with another bad movie. My only complaint is that the movie is being set in modern times, which means completely rethinking their origin (We need to beat the Soviets in the space race!) Hopefully it will be done well, and stay true to the characters. This is going to be a lot of fun to watch; I'm more excited about this one than any other Superhero movie. Captain America / Thor / Iron Man / Giant Man & Wasp I'd love to see an Avengers film (Namor tries to invade New York with his Atlantean army, and it's up to the Earth's MIghtiest Heroes to teach him a lesson in pain) but it all comes down to money. It would take a lot of money to do an Avengers film justice, and why make one movie with all of these characters when you can make a dozen films about individual members of the league. Cha-ching! Iron Man has been in the works for quite a while; Tom Cruise even agreed to take on the title role. It looks like they are going with a relatively unknown actor, which seems like a better idea. Iron Man is very cool, and doesn't need to be overshadowed some A-list actor. Captain America can be an excellent movie; I just hope they stick with the "Ultimates" take on the character, rather than the incredibly boring version that exists in regular Marvel continuity. Thor um... people seem to like Thor. Someone is out there buying his comics, right? The character is fun in a team setting, but as an individual he bores me. Ultimate Thor is one of my favorite characters, though. I'd be more interested in seeing that version of the character make it to the big screen. Like with many other Avengers, if you have read "Ultimates" chances are you like their Ultimate alter-ego more than the original. Wasp and Giant-Man are pretty boring in the normal universe, but in Ultimates they are probably the most interesting characters out there. I don't know how effectively these two characters could carry a movie on their own, but if done effectively it would rock. At least Tony and I would like it. Luke Cage / Iron Fist / Black Widow / Black Panther Marvel is smart, and they can somehow convince a movie studio to create a major motion picture around some of their lesser-known characters. The fact that there is a Blade trilogy is a testament to the fact that even the lamest of Marvel characters is better than half of the stuff being created by that other comic company. Aside from Black Widow, the four characters mentioned above very small roles in the Marvel Universe. In fact, most of them seem to disappear from comics for decades at a time without anyone really noticing or caring. Luke Cage is actually a fun character -- a convincted felon being experimented on by the government, he gets super-strength/unbreakable skin. Give him his private investigator girlfriend, Jessica Jones and you have a romantic urban crime drama with superpowers. Jackpot. I hate Iron Fist. Stupid name, awful costume, I hope this movie never gets made. Black Widow can be an awesome movie. Black Widow is a former Soviet spy who has been recruited to work for the US government, and she kicks a lot of butt. Yay for girls who kick butt. Black Panther is a character that I find really boring, but again, I'm not the one who has control over which movies get made and which ones don't. But if I did... It was very difficult trying to choose the wining entries, but I did my best in trying to selecting who would be best for the project. If anyone would like to talk to me about why they didn't make it into the RPG, they are more than welcome to PM or AIM me (ShyGuy51185) about it. Everyone who was selected for the RPG should be expecting a PM fairly soon. It will explain some things about the story, and how to access the myHero site. I hope everyone had as much fun writing their posts as I had reading them. Thanks again to all those who participated. Expect the actual RPG to launch sometime during the week. -Shy

Sunday, July 11th will be the last day to post your sign-ups. The following day, July 12th, I will announce which players made it into "Hero" and assign the first "issue" in secret. The myHero site is up and running. For the most part, this is what the finished product will look like. I'm very excited about the prospects of Hero and it's companion myHero, and I'm really hoping that players in the RPG take some time to work on original content for the site, and see what can be done. Um, yeah. The more sign-ups the merrier. I haven't really "chosen" anyone for the RPG yet, and I haven't read many of the entries. There is still time to give it a shot. -Shy
Since this is the silver age of comics , I just wanted to ask are Villians going to get to have colorfull names?
Right. The heroes and villains are going to have some very colorful names; although I'm hoping that the players will take them seriously. Good work on the sign-ups so far. I won't close the sign-ups for at least a week, so there is plenty of time to tweak and improve upon what has been posted already. I'd like to stress that I'm expecting diversity among the sign-ups: ethnically, socially, etc. I want these characters to heavily differentiate from one another, and more importantly, from the typical protagonists you would read about in a comic book. Try to use your imaginations, guys. -Shy

This is where you come in. Your character is needed to help fight the latest threat to Key City, but whether or not that actually happens is up to you. As you will see, things aren't as they seem, and the real heroes aren't always wearing masks and capes. What Is It? It's going to begin as a collection of short stories, each one featuring a separate setting and character. The characters get to have super-powers, but they won't know which abilities they will receive until I assign it to them. This will take place secretly at the beginning of their "issue" (what the individual stories will be referred to as.) The abilities given out will be based on the characters sign-up. Their powers will tie directly into their internal and external struggles. I'm hoping there will be an incredible diversity with the characters introduced in this project: so there's no limit of what one could create. The story is set in a skewed version of our ?real world.? The only real difference is that the world in this story is a comic book: full of superheroes and sidekicks. Most of the story will take place in Key City, a fictional American metropolis in the height of it?s silver age, the 1960?s. Your character is not a superhero, at least, not initially. The choices you make with your character may eventually lead them down that road, but for their first appearance they are just a regular person; as regular as anyone with ice breath can be, that is. One issue might be about a preacher given the ability to control fire with their mind. Another might be about a man who can see into the future, and the only way to prevent World War 3 is by assassinating the President. Anything is possible, and I hope the participants take full advantage of the freedom they have. The events and the people are more important than the powers themselves; people need to realize that in order for "hero" to be a success. Because it's not about having the power, it's about how you use it. Initially the issues will be self-contained, but there is a major story-arc to everything from the very beginning. Just as the story evolves, the format will move from self-contained, single character issues to more complicated ones dealing with multiple players and stories at one time. But that's only after the major players are introduced, and the plot begins to unfold. Sign-Up Form Name: Name goes here. Gender: Man or Woman. Age: A character can be any age, ranging from the very young to the venerable. Biography: The character?s life story, from their birth up to the moment in their life when first their appearance in ?hero? begins. Personality: Describe your character?s strengths and flaws: What makes them the person they are? What do they believe in? What is important to them? Profession: What does your character do for a living? Anything is an option (although keep in mind that the story is set in the 1960?s and some modern professions just didn?t exist at that time.) Physical Description: Self-explanatory. A sketch, or photograph would be appropriate, but is not necessary. MyOtaku.com/MyHero One of the more exciting features of ?hero? is that it will be launching simultaneously with a new myOtaku site, devoted specifically to the RPG. However, unlike most myOtaku sites, multiple users will be able to post in this one. Players in the RPG will post original stories, artwork, poetry, and anything else they want at MyOtaku.com/myHero. Their contributions will flesh out the universe of ?hero? as a whole, and provide the type of depth that a standard RPG cannot provide. Also, with the way posting in the RPG will be initially, myHero gives all the players a place where they may collaborate. I will be using the site to post previews of upcoming issues, and to reveal some major plot elements before they first appear in ?hero.? If you?d like, you could even post stories about your character before you are assigned to write about them in ?hero.? Be creative with what you post in myHero; it?s only an optional part of the RPG, so you should have fun with it. The more involvement the better. Finally... So I encourage you to sign-up, and if selected, to participate in the RPG and MyOtaku.com/MyHero. Feel free to post any questions or concerns you might have in this thread. I have no set number of players I?d like to include, and I?ll let in everyone I feel is right for the project. Whether or not that is a large number is entirely dependent on the quality of sign-ups I receive. -Shy
