1. Ergh.. I odn't want this thread to die. Where is everyone? Anyway, I haven't gotten any new comics for the week of September 3rd yet, but a few days ago I picked up some other random comics that I had been meaning to get. Batman's big yearlong storyline is finally starting to slow down, but a huge mystery remains. Who is this "Hush" person, and how have they managed to manipulate nearly every character in Gotham City? The writing in these new Batman comics is very solid, and the artwork is fantastic. There is incredible attention to detail, and every panel manages to blow me away. I'm very excited to see how this storyline will conclude, because this is one of the more interesting mysteries I've ever read in a comic book. My personal theory is that "Hush" is the Riddler; solely because the plot feels like one giant puzzle. What does everyone else think about the identity of "Hush?" In my comic shop there is something called Marvel Previews. Basically it's a list of coming attractions in Marvel comics, but it has some good artwork and an entire copy of Mystique #1. Considering the whole thing was less than a dollar, I think it's a great value. The first issue of Mystique was a very interesting read, and I'm curious to see where it continues. I'll probably start reading the regular issues when they begin a new story-arc, and just purchase a TPB to catch up. This week I want to get the latest issues of Catwoman, and Formerly Known as the Justice League. So there should be some good reading, yay. -Shy
  2. moon-scar demon, work on your post quality please. Anyway, it's a strange coincedence that you started this thread because I recently began taking archery classes in college. It fulfills a PE requirement that I have for my General Education, and it seemed like it would be a lot of fun. I've never had any experience in it, so these past two weeks I have had to learn everything. Having said that, archery is a lot more difficult than many people realize. Depending on the weigth of the bow it can be an incredible strain on your muscles (mostly the arm and shoulder), and because of my vision, accuracy is especially difficult for me. Almost everyone in my class is new to this, and they are having the same problems I am. I haven't really gotten to the point of scoring myself, but I can assure you that it would be quite embarassing... -Shy
  3. I've always wanted to go on a big road trip with some friends; I think that would be a lot of fun to do. I would pick up some random people from across the country (probably OB-ers) and we would just travel some tourist destinations randomly. I've always wanted to visit Metropolis, Illinois, a Titan II missile silo, and Area 51. Also, we would get to see some of the larger cities, and perhaps learn something about the rest of America. Yeah, it's corny, but I love it. Anyone want to come along? Jenna seats five... -Shy

I apoligize for not closing this thread sooner, since the opening post is pathetic. Everyone needs to put more thought into their posts, or they will be banned. Tidal is being banned for multiple ofenses throughout his time at OB, so let this be a warning to the rest of you. -Shy

    Inuyasha

*sighs* We already have a huge InuYasha thread that's near the top of the forum's main page. You should have posted your InuYasha threads in there. This topic is closed. -Shy
  7. You know, the artical said absolutely nothing to confirm the development o f a Yu-Gi-Oh live action movie. Anime Insider (owned by Wizard Magazine) has a regular column where they possible casting for live-action anime movies. They have done it before with other series, but it's all really for fun. Although I have to admit that Julia Stiles would be a perfect Mei... -Shy
  8. Okay, this thread has obviously run its course. Almost everyone in this thread should be ashamed of their post quality, and I'm going to be keeping my eye on all of you. Please put more thought or effort into your posts, or you will be banned from this site. -Shy
  9. Yes, folks. We already have a thread covering this topic, and I feel that's plenty. Please put more thought into your posts, hackshadow, this is your first warning. -Shy
  10. They mentioned theotaku.com? That's awesome, heh. I don't really watch Adult Swim (I'm usually at work around then) but I'd love to see the commercial. There has to be SOMEONE on Earth who taped it, and they need to make me a copy. So yeah, congratulations to Adam, and the rest of theotaku.com's staff. -Shy
  11. I've seen very little of your artwork in the past, Piro, but everything you post I end up liking in some way. This creation of yours is really blatantly inspired by Jhonen Vasquez, but that's okay because I LOVE Invader Zim. The coloring is dead on, and I'm really impressed that you did all of this by yourself. Great job. -Shy
  12.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I think there are some people here that could back me up on my love for this film.
I remember the first time we ever really spoke, and one of us brought up NMBC. You said something along the lines of "Oh God, I love that movie," and I was up until 4 AM talking to you after that. Heh. The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite animated movies, and easily my favorite stop-motion animated one. Just a few years ago it was re-released in theaters, and I fell in love. Well, I saw it when it was first released, and not thinking very highly of it. It wasn't until I got older (early high school) that I realized what a work of genius it is. I love everything about it, and it's hard to pick out specific things. There's just a special quality in the movie that makes it so enjoyable. Lock, Shock and Barrel are awesome. -Shy
  13.
Originally posted by AzureWolf I don't know if you left this thread open by accident or on purpose, but since this thread is for "clarifying," I thought I would ask here. If I shouldn't have, I will have no qualms if you delete my post. What about these Anime quizzes? I mean, the questions they ask are ones that demand facts. Retorting hard information and no comment/discussion/opionion doesn't really seem to merit a thread, you know? I want to know what you think about them. I really think the questions asked should be more open-ended than inquiries that bring replies such as, "yes," "the South," and "42."
I completely agree with you, AzureWolf. Quiz threads can be fun sometimes, but they do not generate any discussion. In many ways they go against OB rules, and in older versions we only allowed them in the Adventure Arena/RPG forum. The problem is that times change, and members have shown a frightening ammount of interest in these types of threads. Therefore we keep these types of threads open on a limited basis (like the favorites threads I hate so much) due to popular demand. I wish that members would try to make something more interesting than a "favorites" topic or quiz thread, oh well. I kept this thread open on purpose, in order for members to ask any questions they might have about this, or related subjects. So I'm going to re-open it, and hope that the thread doesn't get out of hand with posts like AutoKill's. -Shy

  15.
Originally posted by DeathKnight Just dont do anything overtly damageing- old Sheriff Shy will be after ya.
It's true. When I was younger I never caused "Chaos in Stores"; the worst I probably did was hide in clothing racks with my brother and sister. But that was just harmless fun. Disneyland is a giant store, so on some basic level I can relate to Semjaza's complaints about customers. It's irresponsible of parents to let their rowdy children wander around somewhere and break things. Children are naturally stupid, and their urge to climb on and touch everything is going to get someone hurt. While children are waiting in line for my ride they always climb on the rocks and plants, ruining the nice flowers that have been put there. Not only are they destroying plant life out of boredom, many have slipped and fallen on the rocks. For some reason parents think children are invincible, and act completely shocked when their toddler falls off of a rock and hurts his leg. We have signs telling them not to climb on the rocks and plants, do they expect us to recreate the park in foam rubber as well. They also like to cause all sorts of problems when we are loading guests onto the ride. Quite a few have tried running onto the track, forcing us to shut down the ride immediately or risk having them become seriously injured. Others stand up during the ride, or slide through the safety bar and attempt to climb out of the ride. It's ridiculous. There's no reason that the rode operators should have to deal with this, and it's even worse that some parents have no control over their children. If every parent would buy some "child leashes" the world would be a much better place. -Shy

  17. Well, I only got one comic this week 1602: Part One and was pleasantly surprised by it. Part one was very good, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment. The artwork is very good, and the writing decent. No, the series doesn't have the level of believability that others might, but I wouldn't expect believability from a superhero book set in the 1600's. All of the characters are scattered right now, but by the end of the series I think there will be a lot of interesting interactions between them. Like in the "Ultimate" universe, some of the rules are changed, and it's always fun to see the differences between this universe and the original Marvel one.
I don't think Peter Parker has received his Spider-Man powers yet, but his character appeared so briefly that I'm not sure. What does everyone else think of that? Also, I love how Magneto (at least I think it was Magneto) is a church inquisitor. In the "1602" world he is more of the protagonist, especially since "Javier" has yet to appear. An evil Professor X would be awesome, tee hee!
Anyway, the cast of characters was fairly limited in this issue, but I expect there to be a lot more appearances and cameos throughout the series. I would really enjoy seeing a "1602" Fantastic Four
but when Nick said "I wish Sir Reed were still alive" I think that rules out the possibility of them showing up.
One final question about 1602: Who do you think the girl on the ship was supposed to be? Is she an original creation for this mini-series, or is she a different take on an existing character?
She said something about "changing" and being afraid that she would hurt people, but I have no idea who she is. If she were the Hulk, I would be thoroughly entertained.
Gotham Central's "Half a Life" plot was full of twists and susprises. Renee Montoya finally discovers who framined her for murder, and it was a shock for me. I was not expecting a character like
Tow Face
, but the more I thought about it the situation made perfect sense. Their lives paralleled eachother in some ways, and about halfway through the comic I started to feel a lot of sympathy for
Two Face.
My only complaint with this was that his characterization seemed wrong at the end. There is no reason he should have
fallen in love with Renee
and the entire situation just felt like it was forced to enhance the drama. A lot of writers have difficulty with his character, and don't understand that he is more than two dimensional. Each side of him deserves to be fully-flshed out, or else you end up being stuck with a campy villain with no true motives. The ending of was sad, and really hit close to home for me. I think that everyone can relate to the story, though, regardless of the subject matter. Aside from the conclusion, the highlight of the issue had to be it's special guest star. I only wish that all cameos could be handled so well.
  18.
Originally posted by BabyGirl I LOVE DISNEYLAND!
w00t w00t! I just finished my first week of college, so I don't really know how the workload is going to be. It seems like everything is going to be much more laidback, which is good. The people in my classes seem nice, but I don't think anyone is very mature. Hopefully there aren't as many social politics in college, heh. Like Manic, I'm also going to High School: The Sequel. It's a lot cheaper than a regular college or university (although the books cost a lot,) and I don't want to use any of my scholarships until I choose my major, which might not be for a while. I'm also living at home, even though I desperately want to move out. My choice: Currently undecided. -Shy

  24. Hey all, there's been a lot of anime quiz threads lately, and they are clogging up the forum In order to clear things up a bit the anime mods have decided to create ONE anime quiz thread for ALL series/movies/manga/etc. that are not covered in series-specific forums. The format is the same as other anime quiz threads. Someone will post a question, and in the next post someone will answer it and put in a question of their own. This thread is for quizzes only, any off-topic discussion needs to be done outside of this thread. Let the trivia begin! Question: In Cowboy Bebop, what song played in the last scene of episode 24, Hard Luck Woman? -Shy
  25.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I'm not on the list to choose from, I'm afraid. I love how you're the only one that ever uses the list tag. Or so it seems. I'll probably be told 10 people in here did, but since I quoted you... screw them heh.
Jenna used it in this thread first, so there. Well, people were only allowed to nominate one person last round and everyone decided to nominate three instead. The rules can only bend so many ways, I guess. -Shy
