Oddly enough, I'm the first person in this thread who has seen the movie. Oh well, here are my thoughts. First of all, I just want to point out that I did not grow up on the Freddy/Jason movies like a lot of people have. I really enjoy horror movies, but straight-forward slashers have never appealed to me. Still, the idea of combining two classic characters like this seemed fun, so I my curiosity made me go. The first few minutes of the movie do a good job of explaining Freddy's backstory, and there are quite a few clips from previous "Nightmare" films. Without this recap I wouldn't have been completely lost, not that the story is central to this movie. The crossover is handled pretty well, and it made sense. It isn't like a a comic book where two characters are paired for no apparent reason, and a conflict starts to build between the two throughout the movie. Besides the two murderers there is a large group of attractive, teenage victims. Rather than being token corpses, they keep the chases and bloodbaths fun. I thought the movie was surprisingly well-written, considering how easily this could have become a disaster. The music was good, since they chose to go with a classic slasher soundtrack. The Freddy/Jason battle was excellent, definitely the highlight of the movie. So yeah, go see it if you like violence. Personally, I want to see Freddy vs. Jason vs. Chucky (Child's Play) but that's just me... -Shy

If you have any questions about .hack//SIGN This link should be able to help you out.[.url] theOtaku.com has a somewhat comprehensive site about the series. However, no real discussion can be generated from this thread, so I'm going to close it. -Shy

My brother is a huge fan of eXtreme *insert trademark here* sports, and over time I started to become a fan of them as well. Originally, I only found it entertaining when the athletes fell, but soon I was becoming interested in individual athletes and events. It's not like I am huge fan of it, but I usually watch a couple of events when the X Games air on TV. This year they are being held in LA, and depending on the ticket prices I might go. It seems like something to do, and it would make my brother happy. The skateboarding has always been the most interesting for me to watch. I love it when they have pairs of skateboarders compete against each other, it is very cool when they switch skateboards in the middle of the air. Bucky Lasek is my favorite eXtreme *insert trademark here* athlete, but that's because I like his name. I always use him on "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater," heh. -Shy

Too many people to choose from, but here's my list:

Sara
Semjaza Azazel
Babygirl (Jenna needs to meet Jenna, my car.)
James
Queen Asuka
Break
I've already met Juu and Syk, which made these six a little easier to choose from. Still I left a lot of people out, oh well. Round 2 will be harder to decide. -Shy

I'm Shy, so the screen name was a perfect fit. I have a few other nicknames from OB and random online stuff, like shyboo, Guest_Control, 3 and Joshness. A lot of those were made randomly, and have very little meaning. Only Weh can call me Shyboo, though. -Shy
Originally posted by Sara *glances at Shy* You sound bitter.
I'm kinda in a bad mood, which is never the best time for me to post. Anyway, I don't understand why people are being panicked. When the power goes off in my city (which is rarely did before rolling blackouts, but still) there wasn't any widespread paranoia. It's kind of sad to see millions of people freaking out because the power has been shut off for a day or so. Does anyone else see what I'm tyring to say here? X_X -Shy
-
Since I don't live in or near any of those cities, I really don't see what the big deal is. California had to deal with rolling blackouts for months, and nobody ever acted like the world was going to end. This is only a temporary problem, and should be treated as such. I don't think this is an amazing news story, but the worst stories always seem to get the largest headlines. -Shy

Um, yeah. This thread has no real purpose, and you shouldn't expect other members to do your research for you. Please put more thought into your posts, and read the rules. This is your first warning Kunshen. -Shy

Writing Ultimates (Pseudo-Official Comics in General Thread!)
Shy replied to Semjaza's topic in Creative Works
It's actually a one-shot comic, so you don't have to worry about the creative team changing before it's released. This is completely different than the main series. I'll probably add more to this and edit it, bleh. -Shy -
Writing Ultimates (Pseudo-Official Comics in General Thread!)
Shy replied to Semjaza's topic in Creative Works
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel Looks like a pretty crappy comic week this Wednesday. There's very little out that interests me other than the obvious -- 1602. For those that don't know it basically takes current Marvel characters and sticks them into roles in the 1600s. Looks very cool. It's $3.50 though, so I'm hoping it's a decent size.
Fantastic Four #502 is out tomorrow (Tuesday) as well, so it seems like it will be a decent comics week for me. Ultimate X-Men #36 is being released too, but I think I'm going to protest the last issue by not buying this one. The few reviews of it I read have all been very positive, so I've come to the conclusion that most people who read comic books only read comic books. This gives me more motivation to make my own comic book site, which will be the greatest thing ever. 1602 seems pretty interesting, but the huge ammount of hype is starting to annoy me. There isn't anything very new and clever being presented in the comic, it's basically just a fun "What If?" story with some good artwork. Is anyone else excited about the Alex Ross/Paul Dini JLA comic in September? I think Alex Ross is an amazing artist, and Paul Dini is responsible for the awesome DC Comic cartoons that have been on television for the past decade or so. Here is an example of Alex Ross' artwork: If anyone here likes this I highly suggest DC's Kingdom Come. It is a wonderful story that makes Superman cool. I swear, it really does! -Shy -
Did I mention how jealous I am of Roxie? I always beg you for banners, and you just make her one because she asked?! What's up with that, man. It's black and white, so I instantly love it. The music group seems pretty interesting, too. I'll have to check them out next time I'm in Tokyo... yeah. -Shy

Thanks for the comments everyone. I found the picture on a movie poster online, so I transformed it into grayscale and decided to become a moderator cowboy. The banner is a little jpeggy (according to Sara's definition of jpeggy it is, at least) but I've tried everything I can to fix it. oh well. My themes are simplistic because I can't stand a cluttered up signature. I remember when I had my links to everything down there, and it was driving me nuts. As much as I like to advertise, I can't stand too many words in the sig, heh. -Shy
Originally posted by James If you want to discuss Trigun, feel free to use Otaku Lounge.
You mean Anime Lounge, silly. :p Anyway, we used to have a Trigun forum and it was a disaster. People rarely ever posted in it, and the discussions were just generic "favorites" topics. Even though the popularity of Trigun seems to be at an all-time high at OB, I doubt we'll ever see a Trigun forum again. You will just have to make the most of Anime Lounge. -Shy

These sorts of threads never really generate any discussion, and your choices are somewhat limited. I'm going to close it, and advise that you make new types of threads, as opposed to generic polls. -Shy

The Terminator/Politician (Arnold runs for Governor)
Shy replied to OtakuSennen's topic in General Discussion
Originally posted by Manic It'd be kind of fun if Arnold ran for president, but that'll never happen.
Nope. Only natural born citizens can run for the office of President. Too bad, because I think his pro-business platform would really help our country out of a difficult period. Man, it's so weird to think of Arnold as a politician.... -Shy -
Homer: So, I realized that being with my family is more important than being cool. Bart: Dad, what you just said was powerfully uncool. Homer: You know what the song says: "It's hip to be square". Lisa: That song is so lame. Homer: So lame that it's... cool? Bart and Lisa: No. Marge: Am I cool, kids? Bart and Lisa: No. Marge: Good. I'm glad. And that's what makes me cool, not caring, right? Bart and Lisa: No. Marge: Well, how the hell do you be cool? I feel like we've tried everything here. Homer: Wait, Marge. Maybe if you're truly cool, you don't need to be told you're cool. Bart: Well, sure you do. Lisa: How else would you know?
Anyway, "cool" is incredibly subjective, and it just depends on the people you are with. For example: While Bosko may be cool to some, he may be uncool to others. You shouldn't worry too much about what is cool and what is not, because everyone has a different view on what coolness really is, so it doesn't matter. -Shy

I'll still keep in touch with some OB members through phone calls, e-mail, and letters, but it's not like I'm going to miss my daily encounters with spammers or anything. The lack of moderaitng would open up a lot of time for me, and maybe I would use that time to improve my writing and artistic skills. I used to draw hindreds (literally hundreds) or comic books, but since I joined OB I have only made a few. This place is wonderful, but it can soak up a lot of time, heh. There's going to come a time when we all (the older members) leave the boards, and personally I'd rather stick around after that happens. OB is a much different place than it was when I first joined, and I think it's going ot go thruogh a few major changes before I end up leaving someday. Depending on the future success of theOtaku (this is a really crucial moment for that right now) OB may have to shut down and disappear someday, but all good things must come to an end at some time. I'm sure James would have a nifty replacement forum ready by then anyways. -Shy

This is my latest banner/avatar combo, and surprisingly enough it doesn't feature Kaworu or Bosko in any way. I'm a Moderator Cowboy now, and as Sheriff of Otaku Anime it's my job to clean up after those spamming varmints. Comment and critique, please. *rides off into the sunset* -Shy
Originally posted by Taylor Hewitt Yeah but that is about Linkin Park in general. I think this topic is fine. And stop acting like a mod to me.
How about I start acting like a mod to you both? These little arguments between you two are uncalled for, and definitely against the rules. Logan, the way you have been "playing mod" is embarassing to both the members you critique, and yourself. You are not a staff member at OtakuBoards, and the way you have been criticizing other members for their posts is rude. Taylor Hewitt, your posts and attitude show a level of immaturity unparalleled on these forums. You need to learn that this is just an internet community, and anything said about you is not meant to be a personal attack. This thread is being closed for two reasons. First and foremost the argument here has degenerated the thread into spam, and secondly the topic of Linkin Park is being discussed in another thread (which Logan has pointed out.) There is no need for two seperate threads, so this one will be closed. This is a final warning for both of you. Clean up your ways or else both of you will be banned from these boards immediately. -Shy

I don't know how active the darn thing is gonna be, but mine is http://www.myotaku.com/users/Shyguy I'm using my "classic" username because that's what Adam still calls me on theOtaku, so it would be easier for my two fans to find. -Shy
