Summer is coming up, and it seems like a lot of people on the boards will have to get their first jobs this season. So I was wondering where everyone was planning on working during the summer, what kinds of experiences have you had searching for jobs, etc. -Shy

Marik needs to change his pants, because it looks like he doesn't have any legs. It's cute though, chibi-ness and Asuka-related drawings have taken over this forum. -Shy

Let's see, a third cousin would be the grandchild of your cousin, right? Isn't that how it works? Bleh, it seems like the age difference would be more of a problem then anything else. Of course, one could make the argument that you should be looking for dates outside of your own family. Oh well. -Shy

How could one give anything less?
No, I did not draw it. If I could draw like that I would be a much more confident person ^_^" I just made the wallpaper from the pic.
Originally posted by Endymion The pairings in that movie were interesting, especially
Kurt and Storm.
I never expected those two to have something going on, but it became apparent when
they saved the professor. Storm said she had faith in him when he didn't know if he could teleport into the fake cerebro room. Then when Storm froze the room, he had the choice to leave at any time, but he told her he wasn't going anywhere. If Halle Berry decides sign on for the next film,
I can't wait to see where their relationship goes.
Actually, if I remember correctly
Nightcrawler once fell in love with Storm, and proposed to her. I don't remember if she was interested in him though, blue fur is a pretty big turnoff. I'm worried if Halle Berry will agree to appear in a third X movie or not. Storm has traditionally been a minor character, even though she is one of the most powerful mutants on Earth. I wonder if Halle's ego may have grown too large for the role after winning that Oscar. Storm's chemistry with Nightcrawler was interesting, and I hope that they develop it more in the future. I would also like to see the Rogue/Mystique/Nightcrawler relationship revealed in the next movie.
-Shy

Today was Free Comic Book Day in comic book stores across the US. hey have this event a few times throughout the year, but this was the first time that I had ever been to a Comic Book Store on free comic book day. They give out one of several free comics to customers throughout the day. They had a wide selection covering everything from Archie and Donald Duck to Robocop and X-Men. Personally, I got the free X-Men comic but I was tempted to get the Donald Duck one. I bought three Spider-Man comics and the latest issue of Wizard Magazine. What did everyone else buy? -Shy

How often do you visit? Many times throughout the day. Whats the longest length of your visits? It depends. I spend a lot of time visiting the boards while I am at school, since my last three periods are really easy and give me access to a computer. At home I usually go on for brief 10-15 periods during the afternoon, and then one larger 1-2 hour period during the night. What's been your longest stay? I have no idea, butg it's probably a very large number. Which forums do you visit? The anime and public forums mostly. I also spend a lot of time in Art & Design and Otaku Adventures whenever I'm in an rpg. Why do you continue to stay at Otakuboards? Honestly, I have no idea. Umm.. the people? Yeah, my friends on OB keep me here. -Shy

I bought the first DVD, and it came with a t-shirt, heh. RahXephon (Rahxephon?) is a really good series, and simiilar to Eva in some ways. The mech designes are interesting, but I just hope that the series doesn't turn into a generic "Monster of the week" sort of show. The action of the show isn't it's highlight in my opinion, I enjoy learning more about the huge cast of characters. Right now Ayato is my favorite character, but I have only seen the first volume so far. I believe that the second DVD is being released on Tuesday. -Shy
Originally posted by Lady Macaiodh Okay, I know this question will be answered soon (tomorrow for me), but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway, since it's been plaguing me endlessly & I can't fathom as to why others are not similarly plauged. In previews, you see Rogue & Iceman kiss. When she pulls back, nothing happens to Iceman, & Rogue breathes out frost breath. You see my point. How in the hell are they going to explain this? Everyone knows that Rogue has no control whatsoever of her power to absorb energy through touch. Iceman should have at least collapsed on the floor for a few hours. The writers have better not have made up something stupid that couldn't have happened in the comic, like she learns how to control it or something. With all the things that got changed around in the original, that would seriously piss me off.
You see
Iceman covers his mouth in frost so that his skin does not come in contact with Rogue's.
I saw the movie last night, and it was amazing. This is the greatest comic book movie that I have ever seen, and my new favorite movie. Matrix 2 is going to have a hard time competing with this. ^_^ -Shy

The show has 26 episodes, but theOtaku.com's episode guides only cover the first seven episodes covered in the episode guide. You see, it takes a very long time to write episode summaries. Hopefully the section will be updated sometime soon, though. -Shy
Originally posted by Endymion Ok, the world's coming to an end and Anya continues to change her hair color. It's a new type of blond every episode (if blonde at all).
Well, it's not like she has anything better to do. At the beginning of this season Anya was my favorite character, and then she didn't do anything after "Selfless." I was so glad to see Anya do something in this episode. Everything that Anya said was dead on, but I got the impression that Anya was jealous of Buffy's power. Anya gets power and Buffy shoves a sword through her chest. Willow gets power and she tries to detroy the world. Dawn is power, and a Goddess tried to bleed her to death. Buffy is the only one in the group who has been able to handle the responsibility of her gifts, and that is why she is the most logical choice to be a leader. Andrew & Spike need to spend more time together, they are hillarious. Anya and Andrew are also hillarious. They need to put Anya, Spike, Andrew and Clem in their own sitcom. They can drive around the country in Clem's red Beetle and solve mysteries. Eh, I'm such a nerd... -Shy

Anime (US/CAN) General thoughts and ratings for .hack//SIGN 9, "Epitaph"
Shy replied to Shy's topic in Otaku Central
Rating: 6 This was an interesting episode. Not much actually happened, but we learn where the series might slowly build up to. Since I do not know anything about the conclusion of the series yet, I can only speculate about what will happen in the future.
The Kay of the Twilight
definitely looks like it will play a big part in the rest of the series. How they are going to use it, and what they are going to use it on remains unseen. I don't know if I would consider this episode to be filler or not. Our heroes have a plan, which is good. It is always good to see anime characters use their minds instead of randomly fighting anyone who they come across. Of course, a little action would be nice too. .hack//SIGN has a very stylish take on combat, but we hardly eevr get to see it. Maybe future episodes will contain more action, and less Tsukasa. Ugh, Tsukasa gets on my nerves sometimes. This week he was bearable, though.
When the Grunty died, he took is really hard. That surprised me, but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. He is the only person who takes The World seriously, because he has nowhere else to go. When the girl discovered that her Grinty had died, she wasn't sad. She was just angry that Tsukasa was unable to save the Grunty. The animal was just a possession to her, and Tsukasa was the only one to understand that.
There's a lot of depth on this show. I wonder what will happen next... -Shy -

He's not my favorite character, but other people seem to enjoy him the most. No, Bosko has lots of friends on his own. He doesn't need my help. Sar/Mitch: I have never realy noticed that they look like characters from Doug. I grew up on the show, so it was definitely one of my many influences. Ginny: Yes, I'll draw you the duck. -Shy

I don't know. these current shows seem more like forced reality than real reality. There isn't anything wrong with these shows, as long as they don't try to pretend that they are a documentary. Survivor isn't an intellectual study on human culture, it's just some stupid show where people eat bugs and scheme against eachother. I have been watching the Real World/Road Rules/Challenge shows for the past couple of years. There was once a time when the Real World put real people together, but everyone on the show now is just so superficial. The shows have lost whatever edge they once had. -Shy

I have a CD Rom full of LOTR pictures Juu. I got it when my newspaper did a review of Two Towers. There are some extremely high quality pictures in there, so those might be of use to you... Anyway, obsession is a dangerous thing. The banner is funny, but I think that it would look better in grayscale. Everything looks better in grayscale. -Shy

This is something I wrote for my school newspaper. It would be appreciated if you could read it over, comment, critique, etc. "Students Overcome a Devestating Disease" by Josh Trujllo ?Junior year I really started to lose it,? said Halley Boatman, senior, ?Last summer I decided to do something, and I told my family.? Boatman, along with over 30 million Americans, suffers from clinical depression. Clinical depression is a serious and incredibly dangerous mental illness, which can devastate the lives of those it affects. There are several key symptoms which are typical of people who are suffering from depression. Experiencing a few of these symptoms for a short time does not necessarily mean that a person is depressed, but they are often good indicators that there is a problem. These warning signs are: sudden change in weight and sleeping patterns, loss of interest or pleasure in activities and sex drive, feelings of worthlessness, self-reproach or guilt, inability to think, and a desire to hurt or kill themselves. Depression is extremely common among teenagers, since the stress and pressures of high school can be too demanding for some, and a nightmare for others. Seniors Halley Boatman and Brittany Belendez have struggled through most of their high school experience due to their individual battles with depression. Everyone has a different experience with depression, but most people end up having the similar problems as a result of their condition. ?I would get really depressed, and a cry a lot. I didn?t want to be here in this world,? said Boatman. ?Before, every little thing would set me off.? Emotional instability is common for those who are depressed. This leads to mood swings and emotional outbursts. ?If someone makes me upset, I have to watch my mood. If I rage, go too quiet, or cry, [I know] something is wrong,? said Belendez. ?If someone would poke me in the back I would get enraged. I would start yelling at them.? These sorts of problems can escalate, and end up ruining a person?s bonds with their loved ones. ?I had destroyed every good relationship in my life,? said Belendez. The first step towards curing depression is identifying the problem. Some people tend to overlook their emotional problems, which can only make things worse. Boatman and Belendez managed to self-diagnose themselves with depression, and quickly tried to find a cure. ?I kept telling everyone that I was fine and one day I started yelling at my boyfriend for nothing, and he was crying?? said Belendez. ?I knew this was not normal.? There are a number of different reasons for a person to be depressed. It is often a result of stress and anxiety, but in serious cases it is actually a complication of a chemical imbalance in the brain. The severity of the illness is what makes it so difficult to overcome. Doctors prescribe anti-depressant drugs to those suffering from extreme cases, but these are controversial in some circles. Chuck Rose, staff psychologist, has had plenty of past experience in treating depression, and does not fail to emphasize the importance of medication. ?Medications that work on the neurotransmitter level are key,? said Rose. As with any medication, there might be some dangerous side effects to using the drugs. Because of this reason Rose always refers his patients for a physical. Traditional therapy and counseling can be helpful for those who suffer from all varying degrees of the illness. Treating the disease can be very expensive, since medicine and doctors do not come cheap. Support from family and friends is extremely important to a person?s recovery. ?My friends are a lot more supportive and considerate of mood changes, and confront me if I get too down,? said Belendez. Both of the girls have tried all of the conventional methods to curing their problem, both getting mixed results. ?I take Lexapro (an anti-depressant) everyday, and see a psychologist once a week,? said Boatman. ?The medicine is what really helps me through [the depression.]? On average, 80 percent of depressed individuals make a full recovery, but only if they know that they have a problem and how to treat it. Being willing to accept their own problem is the first thing that someone must do to conquer depression. While it is not always easy to return to a normal life, it is more than worth the sacrifices. -Shy

Wow, hm. I'm surprised by the subject matter. From what I have read of yours in the past, I guess they were all sort of building up to something shocking and *very* adult like this. I'm afraid that you might just be writing this for the sake of shock value, rather than writing this with for the sole purpose of telling a story. Telling it from his perspective is a very useful tool, especially since they normally tell these kinds of stoties from the vistim's perspective. This is done to have the reader feel sympathetic towards the person who is telling the story, and it doesn't quite work here. As you mentioned, you want the reader to hate this person. You might want to consider building up the character of the victim, to make her more identify with her more easily. Right now she just seems very vague and generic, which might be your point. Well done, Mitch. -Shy
Originally posted by James Wow...very bizarre. I really like the variety here. And you've got quite a good variety of expressions on the characters' faces too, which is obviously really important for comic-type characters. My favourite is the guy in the middle, with the big robot. lol
"Bizarre," Hmm. I'll take that as a compliment. Some of them are based off of people I know in real life, others are parodies of things from popular culture, and some are completely original. The character with the big robot is Omar. He is a friend of mine in real life, and for some reason his comic character is incredibly easy to draw and write for. There are a couple of different versions of Omar scattered throughout the drawing. See if you can find them all! Heh, this is turning into one of those coloring book activities. -Shy
