1. I thought that this was an unusual, but generally good episode of 'Angel'. There was lots of Fred, which is a nice change of pace. This is the first time since "Supersymetry" that Fred had been featured so prominently. It is nice that the supporting cast gets a chance to have the spotlight, especially since most of the Scoobies on Buffy haven't done or said anything interesting in the past 10+ episodes. I thought that this episode was a little unsettling. Seeing Conner and Angel get along is very unsettling, but it was nice to watch. It looked like the group was going to tear itself apart, but Jasmine has come to save the day. Was it just me, or was she very convincing? I wanted to believe what she said, and halfway through the episode I was beginning to think that she was the great savior that everyone needed. But then Fred had to go insane and ruin it for everyone. Or maybe Fred is the only sane one left? Ack, it could work both ways! Fred has really bad aim. I don¡¦t think that she has ever hit the person she was aiming for once this entire season. Jasmine¡¦s disciples seem to be really dumb, normally Angel would have been able to snatch the arrow. Conner should have been able to do it was well, hm. Jasmine let Fred get away, so it seems like Jasmine is a complete pacifist (except for the countless demons and vampires she has helped destroy.) Skip is officially dead. Wesley and Gunn chopped him into little bits. :( Cordy didn't say a single word, amazing. Okay. Everyone loves Jasmine, check. Anyone who looks at her becomes her slave, check. The spell (or whatever) doesn't affect normal vampires, or demons, but it works on Lorne for some reason. I think it has something to do with souls, so maybe some types of demons just don't have souls. It also didn¡¦t affect that crazy guy, but was he crazy before or after he saw Jasmine? What is Jasmine? Let me try out some random theories... Jasmine's Story: Jasmine is a former power (possibly a Goddess) who grew tired of seeing all of the fighting and hatred in the world, so she decided to give herself a mortal form. In order to be "born" she needed special circumstances: Angel and Darla had to pass special trials to give life to Conner, Cordelia needed to become implanted with Jasmine as a higher power, and Conner needed to *cough* Cordelia. Jasmine has returned to Earth, and is devoted to bringing peace and love to everyone. But why did Cordelia turn evil when she had Jasmine inside of her? Skip was right when he said that everything had been planned from the beginning, but we can't be sure if Jasmine is really a being of pure good or not. Lorne's reading of Cordelia showed a terrifying, apocalyptic future, which is the exact opposite of what Jasmine has promised. My Theory: Jasmine is the First Good who has returned to Earth in order to save the world from the First Evil. People under Jasmine¡¦s control do not commit evil acts, and if there is no evil then the FE cannot exist (paraphrased from FE). In order to become a disciple of Jasmine, you have a to look at her. But do you know who can't see her? Bringers! The FE has always known that Jasmine was coming, and that¡¦s why it made Angel try to kill himself (or lose his soul so that he would not become a disciple of Jasmine). I still do not know if it was Jasmine, or FE who brought Angel back from the Hell dimension in Buffy s3, but FE claims to have done it, so let's give it the benefit of the doubt. This also might mean that Darla's mysterious appearance last episode was realy FE pretending to be the PTB. Hmm. Ok, I'm done now. *is embarassed* -Shy

You shouldn't expect anything terribly new or different, since they have less space to build the ride in. But I'm excited, this is the first new ride at Disneyland in five years. -Shy

  5. I'm not a huge 'car person' obviously, but I have been shopping for cars with my family for the past few months. Originally I thought that I wanted a truck of some kind, for years I had dreamed of driving around town in the largest truck imaginable. But I realized that I was never going to use the extra space in the back. Finally I setlled on something small and foreign, a Volkswagen (sp?) Jetta being my first choice. They are really nice cars, and they get excellent mileage. Of course, I doubt that mileage is a very important factor for most of you when you pick your favorite cars. *feels awkward and leaves* -Shy
  6.
Originally posted by Cyke My favorite is New Mobile Report Gundam Wing. The first Gundam I watched was Mobile Fighter G. Gundam, and the substance of the series motivated me to search for other Gundam shows. My best friend recommended Gundam Wing to me, so I tried it out. To my surprise, it became one of the most enjoyable anime series I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. There's something about young kids who are smarter, more mature and skilled than stubborn adults. I also enjoyed the purity of the characters. With the exception of psychotic Zechs, everyone followed their heart consistently throughout the series. Great show. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED would follow at a close second. As far as quality goes, it is superior to most Gundam shows I've watched. The relationships seem to be more outgoing, and really affect the actions of the main characters, unlike Wing. "I will kill Relena" - Heero ^ Not spam. Oh, and how can spam lead to pointless posts, if spam itself ARE pointless posts? Oish, the flawed logic hurts my brain cells.
You are right, your post is not spam, but the other ones are. A poorly written first post usually leads to follow-up posts that are even worse. I'll leave this open, but just because I enjoy being mocked... My favorite Gundam 'saga' had to be the 8th MS Team. It was one of (if not the) shortest entries into the Gundam universe, but I thought that they did an amazing job of capturing the emotions of soldiers at war. I have never been to war, but all of the characters and their motivations seemed very realistic to me. The ending was very emotional, I couldn't imagine how attached I had become to these characters after only 13 episodes. With 'DBZ' and 'Yu Yu Hakusho' running for 100+ episodes each, it is hard for me to understand why 8th MS Team had to send so soon. -Shy
  7.
Originally posted by Mitch A groan of tedium escapes me, Startling the fearful. Is this a test? It has to be, Otherwise I can't go on. Draining patience, drain vitality. This paranoid, paralyzed vampire act's a little old.
I can relate to the opening, a little bit. "Is this a test? It has to be / Otherwise I can't go on," are the sort of lyrics that everyone can relate to at one point or another. One day the test of life will be over, and either we pass or we fail.
But I'm still right here Giving blood, keeping faith And I'm still right here.
So it seems like this person isn't willing to give up on themselves, or on their life. That's sort of inspirational, isn't it? It is sort of odd to have such a life-affirming statement in the second verse, hm...
Wait it out, Gonna wait it out, Be patient (wait it out).
Heh, this is my philosophy on life. Time heals all wounds.
If there were no reward to (reap / heal), (No / A) loving embrace to see me through This tedious path I've chosen here, I certainly would've walked away by now. Gonna wait it out.
Okay, I see where this song is headed. It's about having someone you love help you through all of the problems. And I guess it seems like we all would never had made it this far along in life it weren't for our friends.
If there were no desire to heal A damaged and broken man along This tedious path I've chosen here I certainly would've walked away by now.
Basically a repetition of the first statement. We give up on ourselves sometimes, but there are people who willnever give up on us.
And I still may ... [sigh] ... I still may. Be patient. I must keep reminding myself of this. And if there were no rewards to (reap / heal), (No / A) loving embrace to see me through This tedious path I've chosen here, I certainly would've walked away by now. And I still may. Gonna wait it out.
I'm still looking for the rewards to reap/heal, but I continue to talk on the path. Of course, it seems like I could walk away at any given moment. But the song ends on a somewhat positive note, which is a good thing. The lyrics have a lot of meaning for me, and I'm sure they have a lot of meaning for you, Mitch. Hopefully some other people will try this out. There are some lyrics which I would like to post later... PS: I hate your font. :p -Shy

You silly wannabes can't handle the traffic. ;) This is getting off-topic, but you can still take a lot of great pictures of the anime fans without actually entering the convention. During the lunch hours everyone leaves and scours the local resteraunts, so Downtown Disney would be a great place to find some hardcore otakus. I really like Downtown Disney, it is a great place to hang out with friends, even though parking costs a lot. But we will have to bring up the topic of Anime Expo once the date draws nearer, since it would be cool to meet some fellow OB-ers. PS: The new Winnie-The-Pooh ride opens at Disneyland on Friday, yay! -Shy
Originally posted by Endymion If by "Goddess lady" you mean the grown woman who sprouted out of Cordy's womb, then she was Helen on Cleopatra 2525 and I think she was on one of the shows that FOX both debuted and cancelled recently.
She was a character on the FOX sci-fi/western 'Firefly', which was created by Joss Whedon. Thankfully I had remained spoiler-free this season on 'Angel', so I had no idea that Cordy was going to give birth to that. Someone ended up spoiling the next four episodes of 'Buffy' for me, so as a result I have become paranoid about spoilers. Sorry about the little incident earlier Sere. So, is Cordy dead? Skip said something about the child consuming their mother, which does not seem like a good thing. And Skip turning evil was kind of lame. I hope they don't do the same thing to Clem on 'Buffy'. Buffy: So you were the First Evil all along? Clem: *holding a bucket of chicken* Mwahahahaha! -Shy
  13. My feelings about this episode are mixed, but I enjoyed it overall. I think I will like it more when I see it again, because there was a lot of important plot information that I wasn't paying close attention to. The opening scene was great. Every time Cordelia talks to someone in the group you can tell that she is intmidated. She is not powerful enough to take on the entire group my herself, that's why she needed Connor. Cordelia's lies to Connor are very convincing, and I think that it was perfectly in-character for him to attack the group like that. She is both a mother figure and a love interest for Connor (ick) so of course he is going to protect her until the end. I don't like how Connor kept asking so many questions after they escaped. He needs constant reassurance that he is doing the right thing, without it he would completely snap. I could have sworn that this show had Angel as the main character, the scenes with Angel were probably my least favorite parts of the episode. Angel just doesn't act like much of a leader anymore, and I think the group dynamic has changed since he got his soul back. Fred is research girl, Lorne keeps tabs on the demon underworld, Wes is the brains, and Gunn is the fighter. Without Angel they would still be a very efficient group. It is exactly the opposite of what is going on in 'Buffy' now, the Scoobies are a mess. What happened to Gwen? Did she just leave town again after her night wth Gunn? I am surprised that she didn't offer to help out with the upcoming apocalypse. On a side note, I think that Fred could tell what happened between Gwen and Gunn. Fred looks so cute when she's angry, heh. Skip came back in a big way. How did everyone interpret his little spiel about how 'everything happens for a reason'? I don't think that the ultimate, nameless (First Evil!??) evil was responsible for everything that has happened during the course of the entire series. It is naive to think that the writers had planned such an epic story arc. Moving on... The Darla/Cordelia scene was excellent. It is a shame that they keep killing off Darla, because Julie Benz is a wonderful actress. It is also pretty ironic that Darla was fighting for the side of good, while Cordelia was urging Connor to do evil. Under 'normal' circumstances, the two girls might have been fighting for different sides. It reminded me of Joyce's return in Conversations With Dead People. And I would like to be the first to congratulate Cordy on giving birth to a healthy African-American woman. Who saw that coming? Definitely not me. -Shy

  16.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Tunnels and basements in Florida are unheard of, yet there's this massive thing under Disney. I often wonder what they do in there... oh well
They use those tunnels to trnasport things around the park without being too distracting to the visitors. I heard that all of their garbage cans are connected to a massive pipeline of waste beneath the park, but I don't know if that is true or not. I am a huge fan of Disneyland, it is probably my favorite place in the entire world. When I was younger I used to live very close to it, so my family and I would go practically every weekend. There is a lot of stuff to do there, so I have no idea how some people can claim to "do it all" in one day. But that's just me, I am a big fan of everything Disney-related. I'm going on the 18th with my newspaper class, and then my graduating classs is going there on Grad-Nite. It should be fun. Sadly, I have not been to Disney World, but I plan on going there someday. California Adventure isn't very popular among people who live in the area. 18. I heard that the new episode of Tenchi Muyo were supposed to be airing in Japan during Spring 2003, but I haven't even seen a screen cap of it.. so I have no idea whether or not the new episodes ever started (or finished) production. -Shy

  20.
Originally posted by vegeta rocker i don't get the big deal about buffy. It just seems like clueless with a hot vampire (spike). I think its stupid and yucky.
If you don't like the show then don't bother to post in the thread. And if you think it is anything like 'Clueless' then you have obviously never seen an episode of BtVS in your entire life. Anyway, in response to Lady M... Faith is a much more independent Slayer. She makes Buffy look like a girl scout in comparison, and a lot of that is because of their upbringing. If Buffy had never become a Slayer then she would probably would have ended up as Cordelia's best friend or something. She used to be a normal, stupid teenager, but her responsibilities as a Slayer caused her to mature really quickly. If Faith had never become a Slayer she would probably be the same way that she is now. She is a rebel, while Buffy is a leader. Also, I think we can all agree with Bufy would have died a million times over if it weren't for the help of the Scoobies. Faith never had any of the advantages that Buffy had, so she had to learn to take care of herself in a fight. Faith is much mnore of a 'real' Slayer than Buffy ever was. Her job is to kill vampires and demons, not invite them to her birthday party. Even though Faith completely ignores the Watcher's Council, she still knows that her job is to fight the forces of evil. Buffy listened to the Watcher's Council (for a while), and she ended up falling in love with a vampire... twice. Buffy doesn't fully realize what her job is, and that is a pretty big problem. So in conclusion, Faith is a better Slayer than Buffy. But that's just my opinion... -Shy
  21. There really isn't much to notice about Spring in Southern California. The main difference is that the temperature gets extremely hot, and everyone suddenly has to worry about smog alerts. Also, people seem to be more self-concious about how they look. I mean, people are already tremenedously self-concious, but during the Spring they take it to new extremes. That probably has to do with Prom coming up, hm. -Shy
  22. Tomorrow is April 1st. Cartoon Network is doing something special with it's line-up tomorrow, it has something to do with Monkeys, I think. The regular Toonami block of action cartoons will be back on Wednesday. -Shy
  23. Last July I decided to attend my very first anime convention in Long Beach. Since I had never been there before I had no idea what I was doing, so I asked a lot of questions. Everyone was treating me rudely, and nobody was helping me. Finally got up to the ticket registration booth, and the perosn there explained to me that I had arrived at the convention a few hours too late and they were no longer selling tickets. This made me really angry; but someone who was nearbye heard my conversation with the ticket seller and started talking to me. He was really helpful in telling me all about the convention, and he even explained how I could sneak past security if I really wanted to get inside. I never actually tried to, but it was incredibly nice of him to give me all of that information while evryone else was ignoring me. -Shy

    Buffy: All Alone

Buffy kicked open the front door and continued going down the street towards her home. Willow: Ugh.. huh... Buffy: Willow, are you okay? Willow: It.. it hurts Buffy. It is only getting stronger. Buffy: Try to stay calm, we need to take you to a doctor. Willow: Buffy, whatever is affecting me is a curse. Ahhh! Buffy: Oh Willow. If it's a curse you are under then we need to find a witch, and I know exactly who to ask for help.
  25. I want Spike to die. His character has pretty much everything that he can. It is better that he go out with a bang, rather than keep him around so that Spike fans will be happy. Robin has been one of my favorite characters this season. But the last episode proved that his character doesn't have very much depth. It seems like he is only there to add more drama to the current situation with Spike. The death of Robin would not shock anyone, but it is something that I would like to see. I want to see Anya live, even though Emma Caulfield has not expressed interest in continuing her character. Anya and Xander were such a great couple, I am still hoping that they have a happy ending together. But if I had to choose between them, I would much rather see something bad happen to Xander. Anya is too funny to give up. Dawn and Kennedy need to live. Both of them are very interesting, and they have plenty of room for development. I think that either of them would be an interesting addition to the cast of 'Angel', Dawn moreso than Kennedy. Andrew does not belong on 'Angel', he would completely mess up the show. But he might be good in a spin-off. I would like to see a spin-off starring Gunn. In the last episode of 'Angel' he proved that he was a strong enough actor to pull of being the lead. He and Gwen have a lot of chemistry, so I would include her in it as well. They could travel the world as international thieves and do-gooders., along with Andrew, who would act as comedy relief and help them out on certain missions where demon summoning is necessary. By traveling the world the group would get to see aspects of the Buffy/Angel universe that have not been explored. I would also like to include Amy somehow, seeing as the group could use a Wicca and Amy?s character needs some serious development. So yeah, that is my weird concept for a spin-off. Nothing fancy. -Shy
