Originally posted by Solo Tremaine I think that's 'Rei I', on the first CD ^_^;. Rei's character theme is very nice.
Actually, I think she is talking about the version of Cruel Angel Thesis that played during Episode 26. Most of you have never heard of the songs on this list. I don't actually know who performs one of the songs, it was on a really old b&w cartoon I saw.

Rain -- Cowboy Bebop OST
Another Perfect Day -- American Hi Fi
Komm, Susser Tod -- End of Evangelion OST
That song in the closing credits of EoE -- End of Evangelion OST
Walk Through the Fire -- OM,WF
Gone Fishin' -- Weezer
Don't Wait For the Sun -- American Hi Fi
Lady Play Your Mandolin -- ????
WIsh I Could Stay -- OM,WF
Duck Tales Theme Song -- Disney
-Shy -
"Hmm..." sighed Principal Fujimatsu, "Where are all of the attractive female students that I asked for?" He had been waiting for hours, and not a single girl had entered his office. He was beginning to worry, but he reasoned that something must have happened to all of the attractive female students -- they must be in danger! "Yes, that must be it!" he proclaimed as he slammed his fists against the desk, knocking over his prized "World's Best Principal" coffee mug. "It is obvious that they are in some sort of trouble... and if they are in trouble then I will have to give them all detention!" Principal Fujimatsu burst into laughter while his node begab to bleed. The telephone rang, and the Principal was quick to answer it. The voice on the other end of the line sent a chill down Fujimatsu's spine once he heard it, and he was so petrified by fear that he could only answer in short and muddled responses. "Yes... I took care of her personally... what? .. forgive me master. I will be sure to fix the problem immediately." He hung up the phone and began to tremble. "i hate him." He muttered to himself as he reached into his jacket pocket. Ater a few seconds he managed to remove a small, silver pendant from it. Principal Fujimatsu began to chuckle darkly. "A perfect gift for someone working for a secret Japanese government agency. I will plant this on her and be rid of the threat forever," he paused for a moment "And then I will send all of the attractive female students in Tokyo High Schoool to their own personal detentions. Mwahahahaha!"

Ergh, Evangelion on Cartoon Network was a disaster. Now there are going to be little five-year olds who can walk around thinking that they have seen Evangelion. But everyone has to start somewhere, right? This might encourage more people to look into the series. Of course, some anime fans are so greedy. It seems like they don't want anyone else to watch anime but themselves. -Shy
Originally posted by James I don't think that really has anything to do with it; if anything, we've gotten more "immature" members via anime.
Hmm.... I'm one of the not-so-many people that have been here since v1, and after almost two years at OB I have matured a great deal. There have always been depressing threads in Otaku Lounge, but it does seem that the winter months are the worst (as others have pointed out). Lately I have been avoiding some of the more "mature" topics here; just because the subject matter is ?mature? does not mean that the people who post in it are. If you are ignorant on a subject then you have no right to post in it. Or maybe I?m just being too strict, oh well. Conversely, some of the "immature" anime topics have some of the most intelligent members on the boards posting in them. You would be surprised at the types of debates that go on in the Digimon forum. Kid?s stuff? No way. -Shy

Um.. I think I would be considered an "early bloomer". In 7th grade I grew about six inches, and then the next year I grew a few more. I haven't actually grown since then, my height and weight have stayed the same. -Shy

I sat quietly at my desk during the end of second period, waiting for my secretary to bring me coffee. I had sent her to get me a cup from the teacher's lounge nearly 20 minutes ago, something strange must be happening. In the corner of my eye I noticed a small piece of candy on the table behind me. I reached for it, stumbled, and fell out of my chair, Principal Fujimatsu: Ouch. Suddenly the door to my office bursted open. My secretary walked in slowly, carrying a small pistol. Secretary: Where are you Fujimatsu!? I stood up slowly. Principal Fujimatsu: Hello there secretary. Why are you aiming that weapon at me? Secretary: I have learned about your secret plans Fujimatsu. Did you honestly think that you could get away with it? She moved gun even closer to my face, I started to sweat nervously. Principal Fujimatsu: Yes, actually. But did you think that you could lead your secret double-life without me knowing? I always knew about you secretary, I always knew that you are really a spy for a secret Japanese fovernment agency. Secretary: Stop calling me "Secretary"! We have been working together for three years, don't you know my name? Principal Fujimatsu: Uhh... Secretary: Argh! She started to burst into tears. Apparently being a secretary/government spy is too stressful for some people to handle. Principal Fujimatsu: Poor girl. This doesn't have to end unhappily. You have been put through too much already. Secretary: It doesn't? She lowered her weapon. Principal Fujimatsu: No, that's a lie. I pressed one of the many buttons on my desk, and a trap door was released from beneath where the Secretary was standing. It was too late for her to realize what was going on, and she quickly fell into the whole. Secretary: Waaaaaaaaaaahhhh! I lost my secretary on the first day of school, how sad. Fortunately I am always prepared for situations such as these. I pressed another one of the buttons at my desk, which activated the school's speaker system from my room. Principal Fujimatsu: Attention students, I have sad news to report. It seems that my beloved secretary... I struggled, but oculd not remember her name ...has mysteriously vanished during the past 20 minutes. In order to help keep costs down I have thought of a clever new way to keep a secretary. Today I announce Tokyo High School's new "Secretary for a Day" program. It will give our school's attractive female students a chance to work in my office with me, it will also give them a chance to learn how to operate a xerox machine. Every day I will select a new attractive female student as my secretary. Hopefully that will keep things exciting and fresh. I urge any attractive female students to come to the Principal's office immediately for their job interview!

Budget cuts have forced us to overcrowd the schools, which only means more work for me. My name is Gendo Fujimatsu, and I have been the Principal of this school for the past 10 years. Many consider me to be a good leader, someone they can trust. But they are all fools, my dark power goes far beyond that of Principal-ing! It is a tradition for me to give a short speech on the first day of a new semester. I hate giving speeches in the auditorium the speaker system never seems to work properly, but I turn on the microphone and begin talking to the sea of anxious youth... Principal Fujimatsu: Hello students, this is your Principal Gendo Fujimatsu. I would like to welcome each and every one of you to a brand new semester of classes at Tokyo High School. This semester will hopefully be an improvement over the last one; we have introduced our new ?Power Free Campus? rules. If any students decide to dress in colorful costumes and battle on campus they will be faced with a detention. In a lighter note we would like to congratulate the Tokyo High ?Maximum Aggressive Brown Bears? for their consecutive victories in Soccer and Dance, Dance Revolution. All students are to report to their classes immediately, that is all? I turn away from the microphone, and begin muttering to myself. Foolish children. Soon my master plan to rule Tokyo will take effect, and I will destroy each and every one of them individually. The world will be mine, and nobody can stop me!!! My secretary screamed at me from elsewhere on the stage. Secretary: Principal Fukimatsu, the speaker system is still turned on! Principal Fujimatsu: ?oh. Attention students, the previous message was a a false alarm. Thank you. *click*
Originally posted by Harry What if it wasn't a friend? If it isn't a friend does it make it a little less horrifying?
Well, I'm sure James wouldn't hesitate to eat you. No, I wouldn't eat someone else, regardless of whether or not they were alive. There have been a few known tribes throughout the world that engaged in cannibalism of the dead, I was just watching something about it on the History Channel. Some farmers feed their cattle the body parts of other cows, which is what caused "Mad Cow Disease." A very similar illness happens to humans who cannibalize, so there are medical reasons for not doing it. The entire subject of cannibalism is fascinating, or maybe I'm just really weird... -Shy

I don't know how anyone could consider BoFA to be a "filler" episode. It introduces the character of Vicious, who is the main protagonist in the series. For that reason alone it qualifies as a very important session, would you call Jammin' With Edward or Asteroid Blues "filler"? Of course not. With a few simple words it sets up the Spike/Vicious conflict, it does such a great job at this that dialogue probably wasn't even needed. There is also a lot of foreshadowing for The Real Folk Blues. You see that Faye and Jett are left out of the fight, that's because Spike wanted them left out of it. Also, if Spike was found and saved by Faye.
There is a good chance that something similar would have happened after the Real Folk Blues (I have an excellent idea for a fanfic about Faye, heh.)
-Shy

Heh. Great job on the sign-ups everyone, but there is still plenty of room for more possible characters. Warning: Not everyone who signed up for this will make it in. I want a fairly balanced group in terms of anime stereotypes and role-playing ability. A few people have asked me for ideas on how to make a character. Here is a list of anime stereotypes that might give you some inspiration.

The AI being that's searching for his/her true purpose in life
The AI being who hates humanity because of how inferior they are.
The teen who runs every club and organization on campus.
The teacher who is old enough to teach, but not too old to date.
The beautiful boy/girl who believes in peace, and their evil relative of some sort.
Magical Girl parodies.
The spy who works for a secret Japanese government organization.
The kid who is always eating something.
The brainy girl who falls in love with the "bad boy".
The mysterious masked man who shows up at just the right time.
Tokyo Street Racers.
The seductress.
Children's anime (Pokemon, Digimon, Medabots, etc.)
You get the idea. Some of the sign-ups in this rpg are really serious. Please try to remember that this is a comedy rpg. Direct rip-offs of anime / game characters are fun, but not if everyone does that. Creative sign-ups are encouraged. *walks away* It has been less than 24 hours, so I'll keep sign-ups going for a while longer. -Shy

I registered somewhere between March 31 - April 1, 2001. I don't remember the exact date anymore, I'm sure Nerdsy and Sara do though (Otaku Triads forever!) That was at the end of v1, so I am one of the lucky OB-ers who can say that they have been here all seven versions. When we reach v10 I get a free Subway sandwich, or something along those lines... -Shy

Anime Stereotype High School Welcome to Tokyo High School, where hundreds of students go to learn and develop into successful young adults. The teachers are friendly, the principal is strict, and the students are wild. But there is more to this school than meets the eye: some students have special gifts and abilities that have been given to them for a number of mysterious and special reasons. Some are protectors of Tokyo High School, and others are its sworn enemies. A mysterious villain has arrived on campus, and he has threatened to destroy all of Tokyo High School! The greatest battle that High School has ever seen is about to take place, and it?s time to choose sides. Anime Stereotype High School is an idea of mine in the same basic mold of Excel Saga. Every character is a parody of a popular anime stereotype, and this could lead to something really funny. You don?t necessarily have to know a lot about anime to join, you just need to be a good role-player with a strong sense of humor. The possibilities for making a character are nearly endless, but I would prefer that you don?t your character too powerful, that way things can be more interesting. Here are some examples for character creation: >>>>> Character Names(s): Pixie Queens! Anime Stereotype: Magical Girl Bio: Chad, Kamui and Ken were three regular high school football players until they came across a magical talking goose named Fred. Fred revealed to them that they were really the reincarnation of the Royal Pixie family, a lost civilization of magical pixies who were destroyed after a bulldozer destroyed their mystic flowers, which gave them their powers. Fred gave the three boys a magical flower, which gives them the ability to transform into the Pixie Queens. Age: 16 Powers: The Pixie Queens can fly around and speak in very annoying, high-pitched voices. They fight evil with their magical wands, which have the power to destroy the enemy with ?Pixie Power?. Sworn Enemy: People who destroy flowers. >>>>> Character Name: Hitori Anime Stereotype: Beautiful Ronin Bio: Hitori was raised by her father until he was killed by a band of ruthless ninjas. She then moved into her senei?s house where he trained her into the martial arts. One day Histori went to the store, and when she returned she discovered that her sensei had also been killed by a band of ruthless ninjas. Hitori vowed revenge, and renews her vow every time someone close to her is killed by a band of ruthless ninjas (which seems to be every day). Age: 17 Powers: Years of training in the martial arts and a glowing blade of fire known as ?Ninja Cutter?. Sworn Enemy: Ninjas (obviously) >>>>> Character Name: Robobo! (Piloted by Shiro Hunter) Anime Stereotype: Mecha Bio: Funded by a secret Japanese government organization, Robobo was constructed in order to protect Japan from an upcoming alien invasion during the 1970?s. However, the aliens never invaded and the government was left with a giant robot with no purpose. They sold it at auction to Shiro Hunter, a spoiled rich child who has a dream of becoming a hero. Shiro beings his robot with him everywhere; it hides underground until Shiro says a secret command word to summon it Powers: Robobo has more weapons than all of Africa combined. Several thousand missiles are contained within it?s super-strong titanium armor, but it prefers to fight with an oversized energy sword. Robobo has the ability to fly using a jet pack, but the jet pack usually bursts into flames without warning. Sworn Enemy: Evil stuff. >>>>> Ok. Here is what you need to have for your sign-up. - Character Name: - Anime Stereotype: - Bio: - Powers: - Sworn Enemy: Hopefully this rpg will be a lot of fun, try to be creative with what kinds of characters you can make. I?ll start the rpg when I get a good amount of sign-ups. -Shy
Originally posted by Mnemolth The Supreme Court have also ruled that school officials may regulate school-sponsored activities related to the curriculum if the regulation is "reasonably related to legitimate pedagogical concerns", see: Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier. In this case, the court held that school authorities wre within their rights to censor articles written by students for an official school newspaper about pregnancy and the impact of divorce on teenagers. Why? Because the school newspaper is not an 'open forum', it is not a place for public expression. *glances at Shyguy*...heheh...
I already know that all too well, you'd be susprised about the types of stories that we have cut over the years due to concerns about how school oficials might react. At my school we are not required to wear uniforms, but there are some limits on what students can (and cannot) wear. Early last year there was a bit of controversey when the school no longer allowed open-toed sandals to be worn. About 90% of the country is in such a climate hat wearing those would be ridiculous, but in sunny Southern California the trendy thing to do is wear sandals. Anyway, it was decided that the school has the right to make us wear whatever they want, so nobody should be complaining about it. And anyone who is wearing a "Bush is an international terrorist" shirt is asking for controversey, honestly. -Shy

Rumors are stupid, but everyone knows that. Over the years there has been a fair share of rumors about me, and like most rumors, some of it is rooted in fact while the greater majority of it is pure fiction. Of course, if half of the rumors about me were true then my life would be a lot more interesting than it actually is. Heh. -Shy
