It is session 9, or something like that. I'm not entirely sure though, hmm. -Shy
3. Yeah, like everyone else I know, money is an issue this holiday season. I'm doing odd jobs for my family members, and that is how I am earning all of my money. >,>" We are doing a 'secret Santa' among my small group of friends, but I already know who is buying me my gift. He constantly asks me what I want, but there isn't anything that I am very interested in. I am buying my dad a sweater (I always buy him sweaters), my mom a CD she likes, my brother a DVD, and my sister a DVD. There about tons of DVD-shaped boxes under our tree, so it looks like most of my vacation will be spent in front of the TV. Happy Holidays :) -Shy
4. Now I began to wonder how in Hyrule did I end up on Kakariko Village? I must have been a lot more lost than I originally thought, or maybe it had something to do with the mysterious pond I came across. There are so many questions that I had, so I decided to search this village for the answers. It seemed that the people of Kakariko Village had no useful information for me. But I continued asking around anyway. Night fell quickly. The white clouds that had littered the sky that day darkened and it began to rain. Gorons hate rain. Ok, I am the only Goron I have ever met, but since I hate rain I assume that all other Gorons must hate rain too. My feet were getting covered with mud, and it became increasingly difficult to walk. Kakariko Village did not seem to pave many of their roads; I might as well have been trying to swim my way around town. Hours and hours of searching began to take its toll on me, and I asked an old woman where I could stay for the night. She informed me that I could spend as much time at the tavern as I wanted; provided that I could pay my bill by the time I left. I was only twelve years old, but I assumed that in Goron years I must be at least forty, or even fifty years old. The tavern seemed like the perfect place for a mature Goron like me to spend the evening. A few moments later I arrived at the tavern. Cheery music was being played by a pair of lovely Hyrulian maidens on their lutes and ocarinas. Several large men were sitting around a table, arguing over something. Normally I do not try to listen in on conversations, so I did not hear very much as I moved past them towards the counter and the barkeeper. The barkeeper peered behind me at the trail of muddy footsteps I was leaving. I tried to lower my voice in order to sound more mature. Jobb: Hello barkeeper. Give me some of your finest ale, some that would be suitable for a mature Goron. He peered over the counter and stared at me with a curious look on his face. Barkeeper: Eh? You don?t look very mature for a Goron. Are you sure that you can handle yourself? Some of my drinks are mighty powerful, and mighty expensive. Jobb: ..expensive? Barkeeper: Yea! Gold coins, rupees, silver, jewels. What are ya? paying wit?? Hmm. This was something that I hadn?t thought about. Nature is nice and everything, but I did not have any money! Jobb: Uhh... Barkeeper: ...what is it? Out wit? it then! Jobb: I don?t have any money. But we can work around that, right?

That isn't a good thing, is it? ^_^"
Originally posted by James ...On some level, I suspect that people are posting some of this stuff just for attention...
Ok. Now I KNOW that it isn't a good thing, heh. I did not mean my topic to be depressing at all. In fact, I wanted it to spark a discussion about the truth. My original intent (aside from the whole "tell everyone my deepest and darkest secret" thing) was not to make everyone feel sorry for me. While my life may not be perfect, I know that there are millions of others who are in much worse situations than I am. I would never try to put my problems before anyone else's. Anyway, yes. It sounds silly to say this, but I find the holidays depressing because of all of the time I have to spend with my family. The last thing I want to do on a "vacation" is spend all of my time with people who don't understand me (or if they did, would not be very tolerant at all). People are always trying to reevaluate their lives and improve themselves. It is part of human nature. If people never tried to make this generation better than the last, society would never progress. Worrying is just something that we do, there isn't anything wrong with it. Something would be wrong with my life if I weren''t always worrying about something. -Shy
6. "Whatever strange form of magic is allowing me to view this this, please show yourself." The pond's bizarre illusion faded as a moved back, and everything returned to normal. The two doves returned as quickly as they had fled. It was as if nothing had happened at all, was it just my imagination? Needless to say I did not drink from that strange pond, and I continued on my way. For a few more hours I walked and walked, until finally I found that I had reached the edge of the Lost Woods. Slowly I stepped over a few random bushes while I made extra sure that I would not step on anything (it hurts to walk on pointy things when you are not wearing any shoes). I looked around and noticed several large buildings scattered around. I seemed to be in some sort of city. In the distance I could see a small, wooden street sign. The bright sun was glaring into my eyes so I could not read the lettering on it. When I was finally able to read the sign, it was shocking to discover where I was. --------------------- Kakariko Village ---------------------
7. Yes, certain topics tend to disappear over time. I'm not sure what happened to your poem Mnemolth, but it still might be there. Half of the time I can't remember what certain topics are titled. -Shy
8. West Philadelhia born and raised, on the playground is where I spent most of my days... *coughs* Oh. I was born in Orange County, California and I lived there until I was five years old. Then we moved to Alta Loma, which is a small town about 40 miles east of LA. These are the only two places I have ever lived in my life, and I really only remember living in my current city. -Shy
9. "Never forget who you are, and never lose your place in the world." My mentor, Casper, was always giving me great bits of advice like that. He thinks that if a person could live in harmony with other creatures, then they would have a happy and fulfilling life. Well, I have been trying. Boy have I been trying, but I think that I have already lost my place in the world, just three days after leaving my home to search for my parents. Or more correctly, I'm lost. I have no idea where I am, and I have no way of finding out. "Let nature be your guide." By using the stars as my guide, I should have been able to find my way to the Goron village. But things did not turn out that way, and I am beginning to think that I might have had the North Star confused with one of the 10 million other dots in the sky. In either case, I have been moving deeper and deeper into the forest. This does not look good at all. If only I had learned some sort of location spell, or something involving teleportation -- but most of my magic involved control over the elements. My supply of food is running low as well. Now I know why they call them the "Lost Woods". I trudged through shrubs for hours until I came across a small, reflective pond. The few rays of sunlight that escaped through the forest's canopy glistened against the clear water. A pair of doves were perched on a branch in the distance, and I quietly sat down, trying not to disturb them. I removed the leather strap from around my shoulder and set it onto the ground while I moved my head towards the water so that I could get a drink. When I saw myself in pond's reflection I sighed. My traveling had taken its toll on me, and my face was covered with dirt. I then thought that if I ever wanted acceptance by the Gorons, I should not bother to worry about a little dirt. My reflection in the pond suddenly vanished, and was replaced with the image of a burning village. The two doves flew away once the mysterious and terrifying picture materialized, and I was taken back by it myself. This was not a regular Hyrulian Village, this was a Goron village. I could see the bodies of fallen Goron warriors strewn across the ground while the city itself burned with an supernatural intensity. This was a magical fire, I could recognize it because of my training with Casper. But who was showing me this?

Hamtaro

After playing with Boo, Vince set the brown ham-ham back into his cage, and walked towards the nearby closet. Vince: Hmm, where is my baseball? Vince started searching inside of the closet, and began to toss random items onto the floor. Vince: Ack, I can't find it! Now all of my friends are going to be mad at me for losing it. I must have left it at the park. The door opened and Vince's mother walked into the room Vince's Mom: Oh my, look at this mess. You had better clean up your room now or else I won't let you play with your friends at four o' clock. Vince: But Mooooooom! I have to go to the park and find my baseball before I go play with my friends. Vince's Mom: Sorry, but clean rooms come first Vince. Clean up your room, and take out the trash, and wash my car, and mow the lawn, and wash your father's car, and then you can go to the park and look for your toy. Vince's Mom walks away, ready to spread misery and mayhem wherever she may walk to. Boo: I know, I'll go find Vince's ball for him. Then he can go and have fun! ^_^ Boo snuck out of his cage, and walked out the front door to the park.
Originally posted by Desbreko I've been thinking about it, and I think it'd be better to have Sages be able to carry three items, and have three secondary spells. 15. Name: Jobb Age: 12 Race: Goron Gender: Male Character Class: Sage :p Appearance: Like all Gorons, Jobb has the same brown skin, spiked back, and round body that characterize his race. On his chest he has several small scars, which are a result of an attack by ravenous birds when he was an infant. He stands proudly at 3 feet tall, and weighs 150 pounds. This makes him slightly overweigh for Gorons of his height, but Gorons choose to celebrate each other?s difference rather than criticize them for it. Background Bio: Jobb was abandoned as an infant by unknown parents on the outskirts of the dark forest. For nearly a day he was left to fend for himself in the wild (which was nearly impossible since Jobb had not learned how to walk or roll yet). Wild birds began to attack Jobb, and he still has scars from the encounter. Fortunately, A party of wandering merchants rushed to his aid after hearing the child?s screams from afar. The merchants took Jobb to an old friend of theirs, a Hyrulian shaman named Casper, and using his magic he healed the baby?s wounds. Casper offered that the merchants stay with him for a while, and during this time he became fond of Jobb. When the merchants were ready to leave, Casper asked if he could raise Jobb and train him in the magical arts. The merchants happily agreed, and for the next 12 years Jobb lived in a small cottage with Casper as his mentor and surrogate father. When Goron reached his twelfth birthday, Casper decided that Jobb was ready to leave the dark forest and return to the Gorons, where he might one day find his real parents. While Jobb?s magical abilities have not fully developed, his bravery and ambition has. Starting Location: Casper?s Cottage, Dark Forest Primary Spell: Quake Secondary Weapon: Fists Items: Magic Powder (3 Uses), Assorted food Spells: Earth?s Embrace (Healing), Spark (Very Weak Fire), Gust (Wind) James: If I make it into this RPG, could you make me a picture? -Shy

18.
Originally posted by GinnyLyn And here's another thought--do you think liking a person for what they do vs. who they are is a negative thing? or vice versa?
Good question. When someone dies, they usually look to their accomplishments to describe them. Saying, "Tim was a wonderful father, and a talented carpenter" is not a bad thing at all. Being remembered for your work gives you a chance at immortality. People don't remember George Washington because of how friendly and compassionate he was, they remember him because of something that he accomplished. At the same time, I cannot be friends with the inventor of televsion just because he was the inventor of the television. You make friends because of who they are, not what they do. But you remember people because of what they did, and usually not who they were. I make my friends usually based on what interests we share. If we both like to write, then I am friends with them because of their writing ability. That is what makes me their friend originally. I became friends with you originally because of our shared interest in Digimon, you could say that I only liked you because of your knowledge an love of the show. As you can see, I'm not making much of a point here. I give up. -Shy
19. Hmm. Friends do things for each other, and when someone asks you to do too much for them it can really effect how you view that person. If you worry too much about being taken advantage of then you will end up never trusting anyone. You are one of my oldest and best online peeps. See, I used the word "peeps", I got that from you! ^_^ Anyway, you shouldn't have to worry about that Ginny. No matter how great and amazing of an artist you are, you are an even greater and more amazing person. -Shy

The Ring - Import

You're in luck, because we already have a topic about The Ring or Ringu. You can access it by by clicking here. I'm not sure where you would be able to get the original movie online, but if anyone knows, feel free to PM XeEmO about it. -Shy
22. I think it is kind of silly to think about where the boards will be in 3-4 years, this place changes so constantly that we have no idea what will happen in the future. I expect OB to grow though. With all of the progress that the Otaku has made, this place will soon become a major force in the online anime community (if it isn't already, hmm). Adam was smart enough to hire James, and I'm sure that James will leave OB in the proper hands when/if he decides to leave. We all have to move on sooner or later, why is a newbie worrying about this? -Shy
23. No. Downloading episodes of Dragonball over the internet is illegal, so this topic is closed... -Shy
24. If anime characters were real the world would have ended many, many years ago. Nearly every series features an "end of the world" scenario, so the human races' chances for survival are pretty slim. Oh, and this topic is SPAM. No intelligent conversation could ever possibly hope to come from this idea. Sorry, thread closed. -Shy :whoops: PS: Three moderators and I am still closing topics here, 'tsk 'tsk.
25. Hmm, I've been struggling with how to respond to everyone's thoughts on this; but I am more than thankful that everyone has been so kind to me. Your understanding means a lot more to me than you might think. There are some really great friends here at OB, and I'm really fortunate to have some of them as my friends. ^_^ And yes, I think that it should be my decision about whether or not to tell everyone. (Ironically, there is a slight chance that some of mr IRL friends might end up reading this somehow, hi Tim and/or Steve). But if he does choose to tell people, I will be ready to handle whatever scrutiny I get for it. Thanks everyone, -Josh
