James did you make the Tenkoman wallpaper all by yourself? Anyway, I think adding a classic, older series to the otaku is a good idea. The site should diversify beyond the stuff they show on Cartoon Network and have information about al kinds of anime. I can't wait to see what other kinds of things you guys have planned for us.

I remember one day I was saying how nobody should shop at Suncoast because the people who work there are jerks. Seph: "What is Suncoast?" Me:"Maybe they don't have it where you are." Seph: "No, they don't have any here in hell." Oh the memories...

Anime Another look at Saturday Night's Adult Swim...
Originally posted by JCBaggee Try the first 30 sec... Oh, Shyguy...I hate to pick on you again, but I believe it's Botan, not Photon. I think you spelled Kayko wrong too, but I'm not sure. Hey, it's not that I don't like you...it's just that I'm looking at being an English teacher, so I'm a stickler for spelling...even though I suck at it sometimes!
He he, I need to check the spelling of anime characters I suppose, following the regular rules of English when you are spelling japanese names doesn't work very well. Let's not turn every topic into a debate about spelling Mr. Baggee but I do appreciate the tips. -
Is it possible to get it with local cable operators? I remember while ago I didn't have Cartoon Network, so I called my cable company about 50 times to ask for it. After about a year of bugging them about it, I finally received the channel.

Otaku Triads.. yay, we have been talking about this for months and I can't believe it is finally here. Well first off I joined the boards after trying to find digimon pictures on theotaku.com. I have no idea what compelled me to join the boards after seeing the incredibly limited selection of pics that were on the site at the time... but I did it just the same. I used to only hang out in the digimon section, and I would only post every couple of days until one day when I went to Suncoast and was insulted by the guys who worked there for my taste in videos. The same day I put something up in general discussion about it ("Sad life of an otaku" anyone?) and right away people responded to it. It was right after that when I met N-Man, who turned out to be my first (and best) friend on the boards. In the digimon section I quickly became friends with Ginny (did't everyone?) and from there I got to know the amazing Cera. Then I went away from the boards during the summer, it was one terribly long and boring summer. I came back right after the entire V2 / V3 mess which I still don't understand and began my posting to find how uch things had changed. Alot of people were gone, and the most suprising thing was to see certain people rise to power on the boards. Then nothing much happened. I won an award or two from the otaku awards (Best Tenchi member, me?) In February my dream came true when I became a moderator. I feel partially responsible for the entire "wannabe moderator crisis" we have going on currently as I was the first to point out which topics should be closed, or moved, or whatever. So yeah, it has been a great year.. I have made alot of great friends and I hope to make more. Thanks to everyone for making these boards worth coming to for so long and hopefully I will see yo this time next year!
Originally posted by Milliardo Just watch the show further--it's just 5 episodes out of 106 episodes, so you won't see much yet until later. I would say that it gets more interesting as you go on. Funny, though, thatthey should just show it once a week--it is very long, and at the rate it's going, you will see its conclusion next year. We had Yu Yu Hakusho on here daily, and at 7pm the second time it was aired (it's now on its second replay, or third showing, at 5pm daily).
Well where do you live Millardo? I would love to have Yu Yu Hakusho on daily.. but it is too mature to show at 5 on the afternoon. -

If I remember correctly the japanese arcade cabinet of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 allowed Dreamcast owners to earn points on their home games by including a special VMU slot. This allowed the player to earn extra levels and characters (all of which could be unlocked without playing it at arcades.) That feature was removed from the American release of the game because it was thought that the concept would never catch on in the US. A similar incident could happen here, but this is only my personal speculation.

I named my GS pokemon after otaku boards members, I didn't know what else to call them but I thought it was pretty funny. Snorlax - Adam Suicine - Babygirl Eevee - kuja Tododile - Nerdsy Jigglypuff - Ginny Raiku - Sepiroth ...And I think that was it.

You are right, this information is mildly interesting. I used to love the original F-Zero for SNES, but I didn't really think the 64 game was very good. I am suprised that Sega wants to work on the series, I thought they would have made their own racing games then work on nintendo characters. Anything that unites Sega and Nintendo is a good thing I suppose.

Anime So Is There More To Outlaw Star Then We Seen In The Us??
Originally posted by OutlawDragon Maybe we should. But Angel Links has a wierd side to it. I mean that flying bat-cat thing that live in her top that changes into a sword, what is up with that? Anyway I have only 5-6 eps, I have to get the rest, but there only are 13 so not much more to go. :smoke:
Well I usually don't like to buy tapes/DVD's to more than one anime series at a time.. but I was too tempted by Angel Links so I stopped buying Bebop in favor of the Outlaw Star spinoff. I actually haven't been bought any new anime for a few months; I need to finish my Bebop collection and then move on to Nausica. (sp?) -
Originally posted by Milliardo Personally, I would like to see more coverage of Oh! My Goddess! It's a short OVA (5 episodes, plus the movie, and not counting the Adventures of the Mini Goddesses), so covering it wouldn't take too much work.
I always see you talk about Oh My Godess! Milliardo. Do you really like the show that much? Anyway, this is not a small suprise, it is a huge suprise. I am glad that the amazing James will be working on the otaku... but I thought the only anime you watched was Tenkoman? Or maybe I am getting confused, which could very likely be the case. I would love to see a Cowboy Bebop section added to the site, in fact I am working on it now... even though I hadn;t told Adam and Rick about it yet (mua ha ha!) I am going to unleash the stuff on them one day without any warning and they will be forced to add a Bebop section to the site, I am a pure genius! And a Record of Lodoss war section would be good too...

Anime So Is There More To Outlaw Star Then We Seen In The Us??
Originally posted by OutlawDragon You didn't like it? I did. I mean it wasn't the greatest, and not as good as OLS but it was still good. :smoke:
I didn' like it very much... I think I was expecting too much out of the series. I am a huge Outlaw Star fan... so I jumped at the first chance to see some familiar faces again. I only have seen the first 3 episodes, so the show could pick up from there... I shouldn't judge it by three episodes because if I did that I would have never liked Outlaw Star( thought the show only became good when Hlda died.) You are usually the only person who I talk to about Outlaw Star here... I am going to have to talk to you over IM one of these days. -
Originally posted by OutlawDragon I'm afraid not but if you would like you can watch some spin offs of the series. :smoke:
Hmm.. there is an idea, but Angel Links isn't very good. -
Big O wasn't a terrible show.. but I think they tried to combine too many ideas into one series. They wanted a mech show with romance, mystery, deep characters, even deeper storylines and amazing action scenes.. but unfortunantly none of those qualities can be found in the final product. It also makes me incredibly frustrated that the series ended in such a bizarre way.

That show is so great. Gir and Dib are so funny. There was one episode where the pizza man came to deliver a pizza, so Gir came up and said to the pizza guy "I love you." I just thought it was really funny. Gir does all sorts of funny things, I can't even begin to list all of them off.

Outlaw Star is 26 episodes long and all of these episodes have been dubbed and are available on video and DVD. If it is newe Outlaw Star you want then I am sorry to say you are out of luck. They have been working on a new Outlaw Star Series for about 5 years and according to many rumors the project is terrible and it may never get done. -
Anime Another look at Saturday Night's Adult Swim...
Shy replied to JCBaggee's topic in Otaku Central
Thank you for making this thread, I have been dying to talk to someone about the Adult Swim animes, and I am too lazy to make my own topic (he he he.) Yu Yu Hakusho: I really thought this show was going to be stupid, but ever since the third episode I have been hooked. From the outside this show seems to be a bunch of poorly designed characters with bad animation.. but there is more to it than that. Each character is completely unique and they show that there is more to people than just outward appearances. Kurubara (sp?) is a sweet and caring individual and Keiko is one tough chick. I even like Photon, though she can be a bit ditzy some of the time. All in all I think this has to be one of my favorite animes right now, I can't wait to see what happens next week. Cowboy Bebop: I think I have posted about Bebop in another thread... I really don't feel like repeating myself. Pilot Candidate: This show is also a pleasant suprise. I thought it was going to be a stupid action-driven mecha show like Zoids but this show is also full if great characters who add alot to the series. My only complaint so far has to be with the main character "Zero." He comes across to be alot like Ash from Pokemon or Tai from Digimon (Zero and Tai actually have the same voice actor, neat.) He is really obnoxious, but I think he will stop bothering me after a few more episodes. I have alot of questions about the show as well, so I am hoping to learn more about their universe from future episodes. Gundam 0083: I can't deal with this show, it makes me fall asleep.
