Online Relationships, and Impact therof
Epid3mic replied to Drix D'Zanth's topic in General Discussion
Online relationships are all good and fun...to a certain extent. There are a few problems with metting someone online. One, probably the the biggest, is that the person may just plain not be who they say they are. This could be for various reasons, that I will not get into here (people are wierd). Secondly, most people act different online then they do IRL. This can be a slight change to a drastic one. This usually consists of the said person becoming more open online than off. But when you talk to someone online who you have never met off, the person you are talking to can be quite different the person you wouldn meet in real life. Another thing with online relationships is that there is a much decreased sense of commitment. When you meet someone IRL, and you keep talking to them and meeting them, and find out you don't like this person, you can't just block them. Hehe...that would be kind of funny though... So, in conclusion, if you just want to have a friendly chat about a certain subject, online is just as good as anyplace. But it may not be the safest place to find a life-long mate. But then again, my friend's uncle met his wife online 0_o -
Witches..... Does everyone think thay are bad.
Epid3mic replied to catdemon's topic in General Discussion
That depends. If you want to use the real definition of the word, by which I mean someone who has sold their soul to Satan, then yes, I think that is bad. But if you want to use the newly adopted use of the word, as in someone who practices Wicca, then I could care less, as it's just another religion. Of course, someone just said very few Wiccans call themselves witches, so... -
I have never heard of this movie. What is the basic synopsis? Is it foreign?

I'll join, I consider my knowledge of Simpsons trivia quite vast, although, I haven't watched the simpsons in quite a while.

Wow, alot of you guys get tons of stuff for Christmas, I feel like the poor kid on the block... I got: A portable cd player from my parents($30) A CD player/AM/FM radio/clock from my grandparents($35) Two shirts that would fit me great if I was 20 years older Socks $25 from my aunt and uncle which were promptly spent on: Frontline Assembly-State of Mind [CD] Skinny Puppy- The Process [CD] And my Dad payed a part of the $30 sub-urban BDU's I bought a few days earlier. So, I pretty much got everything I asked for (Not necesarily everything I wanted *dreams of alienware computer*). As for the "Santa isn't real" people ::cough::Mitch::cough::, don't you think it was all too obvious that thread starter didn't literally mean Santa? We are all that mature to know Santa is not real, please give us that much.

My favorite band right now is Skinny Puppy. I just picked up "Bite" today. I also like Front Line Assembly, Wumpscut, Flesh Field, Apoptygma Berserk, and Front 242. So yeah, I mostly listen to Industrial/EBM/Synthpop. Among the more rock oriented artists I like are Incubus, Linkin Park, Tool, The Vandals, and The Offspring.

Adam? I was commenting on how you put having six children in a negetive context. Is there something wrong with having alot of kids? On the other note, there is no evidence that he thinks his daughters cannot become hackers. For one thing, he does not even know what a hacker is, and I doubt he understands the time and energy to become an adequate hacker. Secondly, from the attitude he shows, he does not think hacking is a good thing, and is probably glad his daughters didn't follow in his son's example, if anything, he is sexist towards males. And lastly, when he first became worried about Peter's computer usage, his wife told him it was just a phase, and, if I remember correctly, he puts it, "But I was content to bow to her experience as a mother." Such understanding is not exactly common among sexists. Arghh, I can't believe I wrote so much on something that isn't even true ::sigh::
Originally posted by DeathBug I'm suprised no one pointed out that he constantly uses the word "Son" and male pronouns. Obviously, girls (including the daughter who retained her computer privilages) aren't smart enough to become hackers, right? I mean, why would they want to? They're way too busy cooking and cleaning and pumping out six kids. "Modern parent" my arse. This guy's an incompeteant sexist cretin.
Ummm...his daughter never showed the same computer habits the son did, therefore was never a need for concern. Don't take this thing too seriously, geez. BTW, I have ten other brothers and sisters, I guess my father's an evil sexist pig, huh? I think most of you people are taking this thing a bit too seriously. For one thing, it's obviously a hoax. Anyone with half a brain would find out it's spelled "Linux". I find it kind of scary many of you are taking this thing personally.

Wow good job all. My 3-mile PR is only 21:30. I do Cross-Country but I've been off a month due to a stress fracture. I seriously cannot stand not running (As well as my coaches starting to think I'm just lazy). If I wasn't injured, I would be working out about two hours a day with the team, about 3 miles a day, sometimes less sometimes more, not counting the spontaneous repeats we do.
-
Some people on my cross-country team call me Zim. It's because when I first started cross-country I would wear this one Invader Zim shirt alot, so, yeah.

I think both genders do have pro's and con's and no one is neccessarily better than the other. But, I'm glad i'm male, and I would choose to be male over female any day. I'm not trying to be sexist, but hey, no childbirth, no periods, and I don't have to dress like a slut to get the opposite sex to notice me. Of course, even though I don't want to be one, I couldn't, and wouldn't, want to imagine life without them ~_^

--- 17:2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. Fornication signifies that it is a religious entity that claims to be Christian. A religious entity that is in partnership with secular rulers instead of apart from them. Catholicism satisfies this. Throughout her existence, she has partnered with secular governments to convert people to Catholicism by force, even killing those who would not convert and claiming their possessions for the church. --- Not neccesarily. The whore could, and I believe, simply signifies sin. The fornication is saying that the kings of earth have indulged themselves with it. If it meant the Church, it would be a bit inappropriate to say "The inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication." --- 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. Rome sits on seven hills. Even Catholic apologists refer to it as the city on seven hills. --- At the time the books were written, Rome was, well, to put it bluntly, the capital of the world. This was well before Constantine's conversion. This could simply mean the beast stems from the greatest world power, not neccesarily the Catholic Church. --- 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: Purple and scarlet are the official colors of the Catholic church. Catholicism is also the world's wealthiest entity. There are storage places where the church literally stores rooms and rooms of gold, precious stones, and pearls. The golden cup represents the eucharist. It is filthy because the eucharist is an idol representing Jesus Christ. The fornication is the partnership with government to kill Bible believers that were martyred for rejecting it. --- As far as I know, there are no "official" colors of the Church. There are official colors used by the Church in different times of the liturgical year, however, including purple and scarlet, but you can't ignore green, white, gold, and black. I have never heard of such rooms. It seems quite ridiculous, and I would like to see some proof. The eucharist is not an idol. For it to be an idol it would have to be something other than Christ, for an idol is considered, by christians, anything other than God (Taking the trinity into account). Once again, the fornication could just as easily mean evil. --- 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Catholicism in its own writings calls the eucharist and many other things, mysteries. Catholicism has created incredible amounts of harlotry with its unscriptural celibacy. Homosexual, pedophile, fornicating priests. Places have been found with piles of aborted fetuses of nuns in them. Catholicism is also a divorce mill, gladly divorcing any couple under any circumstances. Instead it is called annulment, and said that a marriage never really happened. Catholicism then proudly proclaims its opposition to divorce and fornication. The list of abominations created by Catholicism is too numerous to mention here. --- A mystery is a word meaning something that is unknown, that Catholic church uses it in that exact context, there is no reason the bible can as well. Do you not know the Church does not believe in sola scriptura? Something being unscriptual is no base for an argument against Catholicism. The reason priests are required to remain celibate is because they represent Christ, who was celibate. A divorce mill, eh? That argument is completely unfounded. Have you the records of every anulment request? I doubt it. Every time man is given a position of power, sooner or later corruption will come. The Catholic Church is no exception. There have certainly been many bad church officials. But, I think it is reasonable, not to blame the whole for the sins of the individual. --- 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. Catholicism has martyred Bible believers for the entirety of its 1700 year existence. --- A martyr is anyone who dies for their faith. Almost every religion has there share of martyrs, including Catholicism. Entirety? When was the last time you heard of someone being officially put to death by The Church for not being Catholic? That's about all I'll reply to now, since most of the rest went on things established up there. But one more thing, Shinji, you are a bit off on your history of the Church. Constantine and Nero were two seperate Roman emporers. Nero persecuted Catholics during his reign. Constantine made Catholicism the official religion of Rome during his.

I agree with you on the Ministry thing. It's basically some songs I like and others I hate. Eg, I love "So What", but when I hear "Psalm 69" it's just like, what the hell were they thinking?
Originally posted by James But again, this assumes that sex is only used for conception. And that isn't the case, as you know. So it's an invalid point, in my view.
You're confusing me. Here is what I'm saying: I understand that sex has alot to do with love and attraction, but, realistically, that's only one half of the deal. You can't get away with only one half of the deal, without running a risk, that risk being unwanted pregnancy. I see love irrelevant in this whole thing, we are not arguing whether the people are in love or not. -
Okay, how many people here like Industrial. And I mean Industrial/Dance or Noize, personally I don't consider the more rock oriented bands (NIN, Marilyn Manson) real Industrial. I had an infatuation with Industrial a while back and now I'm getting back into it. I'm really getting into Frontline Assembly and Front 242. I love that 80's New Wave influence in Front 242's music. I'm not really into Noize, even thought purists would consider that "true" industrial. I also like Assemblage 23, even though their electronic influence is really strong. Well, your thoughts?
