@Lunox: Cracks me up every time. :animesmil
The tl;dr version: Light respects L, but he's still a cold hearted bastard who can't love anyone. The end.
I actually think a lot of people who go for L/Light/L are fully aware of this--they just enjoy the prospect of hate-filled sexual tension. Which is fair enough. Although I guess there's also a lot of L + memoryloss!Light. Oh well--it's a Shounen Jump series, so clearly anything goes when it comes to pairings, haha. ~Dagger~

I like Spongebob much more than I'd thought I would. I used to watch it with the kids I babysat a few years ago, and it had some really clever, memorable lines and conversations. I can't speak for newer episodes or anything, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much it avoided gross-out humor and went instead for quirkiness. If nothing else, it was miles and miles better than the other stuff kids that age tend to watch. I'll take Spongebob over old Mary Kate & Ashley movies or Thomas the Tank Engine or CG Barbie movies any day, thanks. ~Dagger~
Even if you're not reading into the Boy Love/shounen-ai, you have to admit that Mello and Matt are at least close enough to be best friends.
Matt/Mello always seemed way more likely to me than L/Light (the more popular pairing, I suppose). Matt is pretty much the only person in the story who Mello acts like a human being around. Heck, Mello being friendly with anyone is significant in and of itself. Most of my favorite DN doujin are about them. Lots of room for fanon, given how little Matt appears in the actual anime/manga. :p ~Dagger~

I thought the point of the Scarecrow thing was just to show us the
fake Batmen,
with the minor twist that Scarecrow himself
was still under police control and being used as bait.
It made sense to me--if they were going to have a scene like that, might as well use a character we already know. If it were a random villain, it would've been more confusing when
he turned out to be working (albeit unwillingly) with the police all along.
Or did you guys already cover that? Either way, I have to admit that it made me really want to see the Joker break Scarecrow's mind. :animeswea ~Dagger~

Soul Eater rocks. But Nabari isn't the same kind of shounen series at all, so it's sort of par for the course that they'd focus on quite different stuff. Almost a season late, but I'm just starting to watch Nijuu Mensou no Musume... ~Dagger~

Now, I never claimed to have good taste in movies, but this is an instant favorite. I would not have changed a thing about it, and I'll be going back next weekend. ~Dagger~

There's no specific length limit on threads. Once in a while, one will get closed because the topic has obviously been exhausted or because it's just going in circles, etc. In the case of your thread about modding, I assume it was closed because your question got answered, and the tail end of the thread was starting to veer pretty far away from the original subject. :whoops: ~Dagger~

I'm halfway through the first episode of Antique Bakery, and I have no idea what the hell just hit me. The basics from the manga are still there, but the animated version makes so many off-pitch choices, it's actually kind of stunning. In the manga, the humor was low-key and flowed naturally; now we get peculiar timing and the most inappropriately dramatic!classical BGM since Princess Princess (which, come to think of it, suffered a very similar fate). I'm going to keep watching because I know how good the manga is, and I can still see some of that in the anime, even though it's coming through a really weird filter. I do have to cringe a little when I think about how it might seem to someone unfamiliar with the series, though. That said, a fair number of people who I didn't expect to like a good adaptation of Antique Bakery, much less an odd one like this, said they enjoyed the first episode. So who knows, maybe I'm in the minority here. ~Dagger~

Clearly there is only one person capable of breaking this vicious cycle of redheaded bishounen, and he's a character from Yu Yu Hakusho. No, not the one you're thinking of. And with that, Kuwabara becomes one of the few second-timers in this thread, haha. ~Dagger~

I second the rec for Clannad. As for stuff that hasn't been mentioned yet... hm, Shingu is a decent slice-of-life show. The premise sounds all dramatic, but then it turns out to be incredibly mellow. Also has nice-looking animation and an interesting cast of characters. I'm very fond of Brigadoon, although it tends to be a love-or-hate kind of anime for most people. Worth a shot at the very least, I think; it's a hidden gem, and it just might be up your alley. Takes slice-of-life, drama and comedy to their respective extremes. What about Strawberry Marshmallow (also called Ichigo Mashimaro)? I didn't find it to be nearly as funny as some other people have, but Miu, one of the main characters, makes basically the entire show worth it. If you enjoy school-based comedies, School Rumble is an absolute must. Perhaps Pani Poni Dash as well, although your mileage might vary. ~Dagger~

Loved it. It had its fair share of implausibilities, but enough heart to make me forgive all of them. Probably my favorite Pixar film so far. Oh, and be sure to stay for the credits--they have some of the best visuals in the whole movie. ~Dagger~
