1. Ooh, looks like it could be a real band's CD cover. It has the smooth jazzy feel, like you would expect to put the disc in and be washed away into a summer night's breeze. The serenity and relaxation of the pic is so warm and subtle. The only thing I'm going to comment on is the small font is a tad fuzzy. I'm sure you couldn't help that much. And I am not sure if I feel the "Skye" on the side...maybe if it were inverted. Meaning that when you read it from top to bottom, it would say "skye" rather than "eyks". Other than that, looks really smooth. Makes me wish it were a real CD to grab up and listen to ^-^
  2. I'm calling you out Ima. Let's go. This battle is going to be different from all the other battles that we have seen so far. I don't want to take away your ability to use brushing, yet, I am not talented enough with brush art to let you make the rules. So I have come up with an idea to settle this tipped scale. Theme We are going to battle using expression. What do I mean? I mean that with a simple phrase/lyric/sentence, we have to create a graphic that will explain/describe that said phrase/lyric/sentence. Rising Sun has done the honor of giving us a part of a lyric from The Clash: "I fought the law, and I won." With that, I want you to make a graphic that expresses that lyric. How you see it in your mind, is how you see it. How I see it in my mind, is how I see it. This poses difficutly for both of us. Since we both, obviously, have opposite opinions. Any questions should be directed to my PM. Rule[s]

Artwork may be anything you feel is needed to get your vote. This means, you may use your brushing techniques. Dimensions? What dimensions? It can be as big or small as you like. Abstract or detailed, anime or realistic, I don't care. As long as it gets the point of expression over the boards, anything is game. I will not place restrictions on how to design or size artworks. I feel that is lousy, you don't get to stretch out as you'd like. With restrictions, you are limited, and that's no way to present a work of art, non?
Deadline to have your pic up is Saturday night. I will post my piece after you by Saturday night. Then, we will let members cast their votes.
Have at it.
  3. Sweetness, more victims >:3 Anyways, welcome to our world. And good luck you two on the battle. Also, that reminds me, I'm now available to battle.
  4.
I like the images quite nice indeed deep but it seems like youve just messed with filters in PS added a few brush strokes maybe some curves and color balance.
Oh, don't tell me you've never tinkered with the filter option, lol. Not everyone knows the tricks/works of the program. I'm still learning it. And I think I'm doing good for a Photoshop virgin, thank you.
I like bright vivid colors, black is a good color if used right and it has to have another bright color backing it. Black can represent two things, Darkness, And Light yes I know what light? Yes it can if you just look at banners. This Black represents Darkness and It is not of my style.
Black is neutral, and can be used anyway it is seen fit. I happen to take on a darker theme.
Great job I would for sure give you a 7/10 Each image is unique and shows a certain perspective.
Thank you, kindly. They do show certain perspectives, and mean something to me, even if they are merely filter tinkers and a few brush strokes.

T+JTHM
You might recognize this from DW's Graphica thread..you may have guessed that from the fontage, hehe. I don't know how this one came to be...honestly, lol. I was just surfing for pics of Johnny (the Homicidal Maniac), and I couldn't resist. I saw the original pic of him holding his blades and wearing his shades and thought of Terminator O.o. Don't ask why, I just did. So, with some filtering, I added the little lense flare on top of a free form design. The rest of the graphic just came together. Did lots of layering and brushing for the background..more free form tooling..Rising Sun tried to explain how to do the funky border thing, but I didn't figure it out. So, it's just a plain ol' square graphic that has lots of funky things altered to take the attention away from the block-sized form ^_^; I still can't fully explain to you why I decided to put the two together. It seemed right at the time, lol.
  5. Here is my attempt. I'm not great with font, so if you don't like it, let me know, and I'll try another style of banner. Here is the Avatar, I couldn't make your username look right..sorry ^_^; Here is the banner. EDIT- Actually, I made another quick banner. It's simple and doesn't have any font. But, simplicity is really a good look for Faye, considering her character. Other banner
  6. I thought it looked good...maybe I shouldn't use font from now on, heh. Give me some credit, I'm still learning.
  7. Yes, AS is very borderline to many risky topics. That is why the anime hasn't been released in full here in the USA. The thing I really love (aside from thousands of reasons) is how it portrays Angels and Demons. The Angels are the ones who are dark and evil, and the Demons are struggling to survive against the spiteful creatures of the Heavens. Yes, keep reading. The manga just gets better, and better, and sexier XD
  8. I'm too lazy and tired to look up historical events that share my birthdate. However, I can say quite a few things about the date I was born. I was born on September 20th, 1985. And I share my birthday with two other people (to my knowledge) from the OB. One is WW2, and he and I are the exact same age. The second person is Corey, who is a year under me and WW2. I'm not sure if there was someone else..I have a feeling there is. Let's see, what else..well, I'm a Virgo all the way, baby. I have all the symptoms; reserved, collected, pretty good with money, organized, serious, motivated........well, let's not say all of the common Virgo traits ^_^;;
  9. Oooh, I like these little things ^-^ Very colorful, and seeing them all together, I can't help but think of the houses in Edward Scissorhands..o.O. The only thing negative I have to say, is that "OtakuBoards" is kind of fuzzy in all of them. I don't know if it's just me..or what. But that's about the only complaint I have with them. In fact, I wouldn't mind having one for myself. Oh, welcome Beta ^^
  10. Volume 8 was very exciting. Although, I don't think Sevvy's true identity was completely shown. There are still a few unanswered questions in my mind. Mika is so adorable, even though he's a hot-head. But hey, what do you expect from such a profound name, and hair color? I'm going to admit, so far, out of the 8 volumes, Mad Hatter has to be my favorite character. She's so witty and sexy. Admittingly, I thought she was a man when she first appeared two or three volumes back XD. She's just so entrancing and very manipulative. I can't wait to meet Lucifer ^~^
  11. Ooh, simplistic, and really funky. They remind me of Biology. You know, looking at cells under a microscope; especially the second banner. I like the little hints of color. I myself, don't do too well with color, but I like to put in splashes of colors every now and again. So I can appreciate this. I don't know what PS 5.5 has to offer, so I don't know the limitations to that version. The only thing that I can pick at is the font. But I won't lecture because I suck at fonting, and I'd assume you didn't have too much time to worry about it. Other than that, looks really good, Trev. Yes, you need to get Photoshop. I spoke with you on AIM, and that option I hinted at is still open to negotiation if you are that interested.

    Ima Vs. Sun

    I'd be obliged. I'll start off with my vote, then I shall explain. My vote goes to Sun-kun. Ima- Your banner is cute. I like the pink and the brush work. However, I feel that it could have a bit more time put into it. The font is a tad hard to read, and could be shadowed a bit to make it more visible. Your girl is small, and fuzzy. If that was your intention, that's all good and well. But I didn't find it moving enough to catch my vote. Sun- I liked this one because of the crispness. The background colors don't overpower Link's image, which is what I've found to be a slight flaw in some of the images you've spun out. This piece shows me progress, and Iam looking forward to seeing more. I absolutely like the font. It is full of a flare for power, almost lustful. The image of Link was perfect for the phrase you fonted. Clean, clear, and beautiful image. My vote, again, rests with you [Sun]. Keep up the excellent work you two.
  13. As a fellow Airman, I wish you well, hun. Do your best and be as safe as possible. Come back to us in good health. SrA A.M.Geary, 213th EIS (Engineering Installation Squadron)
  14.
my guess is you're christian, right?maybe not after all, considering the way you put the crosses...
O_o...no, I'm not Christian. It's something I'm struggling with, that is the reason behind that graphic.
well from your own analysis, i think i was kinda too used to blood and gore to actually notice those parts :D i've seen roadkills, one girl dead from a successful scuicide attempt and pretty bad injuries that might need the body part to be amputated if possible.so a punctured arm(in see me?)...is rather minor.maybe you could make it a slit?
I would think that a puncture wound would be just as effective as a slit. If not more damaging. Anyway, the message wasn't supposed to be "OMG! Gore!!". It's a subtleness that has to be looked into. Well, my last post kind of gave it away, but I hope you get my drift. Thank you for your complements, and I'll try to put out some more graphics soon.
  15. First of all, thank you, Jeh-sempai. Hearing back from people really helps out; it gives me motivation, and urges me to do even better in what I'm tyring to accomplish. So, to give you more of a clarification behind the meanings:
Kill the Moment: I'm not really sure what to say about this one. It seems like a very bleak image to me. It almost seems to be referring to someone who had their innocence stolen...or who has been forced into a situation where they've lost their dignity. It comes across like a wounded animal, or something along those lines. Something innocent that's been harmed.
Although that was very interesting, and I didn't even think of that, that really wasn't what I was aiming for. Bravo for bringing up that idea! That probably had a deeper meaning than what I had in mind creating this one ^_^ My thoughts behind this one were kind of comical. As wickedly morbid as that seems, but it's visible when I explain. All right, it's basically hitting at how ironic lust/passion can be if you simply forget/ignore the possibility that you cannot have that set lust/passion. I used this image to symbolize the menstral period in a woman's body because it was the simplest way to explain that reason. Let's say you and this chick are getting all worked up, aroused and playful. In her lust, she overlooks--or is unaware (which happens)--her bodily functions. It kills the moment, yes? Most definitely. It was an (as Retribution said over an AIM convo) "in your face", disgusting, and disturbing symbol. Your thoughts on the image were rather innocent and slightly cleaner than mine, hehe. Which, would suit more people better than my ideas, lol.
Your Christ (in my heart): This one has some nice editing and I like the fusion of the heart and the cross. The fact that the cross is backwards is perhaps telling...maybe suggesting that you could only love that symbol if its meanings are reversed. Alternatively, it looks as though the cross might be piercing the heart and causing it to bleed. Christianity causing heartbreak? I can relate.
The cross being upside-down is one of many symbols of anti-christ/sacrilege. Being that, along with the tainted heart, this image gives off sort of two messages. One of which, and the main one, you pegged right on the head, and I'll explain that a bit later. The other message pertains to the upside-down cross and bleeding/tainted heart. And you can understand this, James, as I've discussed this with you a few times. Being tempted by the Anti-Christ has tainted me. Yet, the heart bleeds, or cries. All the signs are there, darkness, blood, horns portruding from the top of the heart, the upside-down cross. But, there is that halo that still resignates. Confusion. Which leads into the main point. I underlined "Christianity causing heartbreak?" because it's just that. No matter where I ran to for comfort in Christianity, I found myself running away after I got there. I received no comfort in any religion I saw into. It seemed as though it couldn't help, and I started to walk down a darker path. How funny, religion is supposed to save you? When in some cases, like me, it only turns those who seek it into demons for their ridicule. Heartbreaking, yes? I thought so. That's my reason behind that graphic.
Mr. Superstar: This one seems more simple than the others, in terms of message. But I like it - I like the colouring and the silhouette-type effect that you've generated here. It's simple but bold and well-emphasized.[/color']
Hehe, yeah. There wasn't a message behind this one, lol. I was just playing around with brushes I made, and a new font trick I learned from Jamie ^_^ (thank you, sweety). I love orange, and the original picture of this is him in a grey suit, black shirt, and orange tie. So, I just played around :p
Target: Engaged: This one's great. I assume that this refers to Marilyn Manson as a target, particularly of the religious right (funny how the targeting reticule is a cross, hm?) That particular image of Manson is from The Beautiful People, I believe. And that song obviously relates to a rejection of religious dogma, among other things. At the same time, he looks somewhat innocent in that picture. There is almost a sad inevitability about this image. It reminds me of the line "nothing's gonna change the world". That thought is a little depressing.
Precisely, and yes, it's from The Beautiful People..which works well with the message, in a twisted way. Manson is probably religion's biggest target, next to Lucifer and all his "evil" deeds, feh. And it's sad to think that Manson (Brian Warner) is such a target because, inadvertently, religion was somewhat responsible. It's not fair to attack and attempt to destroy something that was created by your own fear and hate; and that's what I meant for this image. Yes, it happens all the time to anyone around any part of the world. But I wanted to focus on Manson because 1) I'm a fangirl, and 2) it's easier to signify (well, for me to signify).
See me?: The editing on this image is great - good use of colour here. It looks as though this character's wrist is pierced and they are sitting in front of a cross...which has obvious connotations. The fact that they're holding a camera is also interesting. To me, it suggests a kind of commercialization of religion, for lack of a better word. Or perhaps the way religion can commercialize/trivialize people. I'm really not sure, but there does seem to be some kind of indication there - a meaning beyond what is obvious. Perhaps you can clarify your intentions about that for me. ~_^
I wanted to touch on suicide with this picture, da'ling. ^_^; Let me make this statement clear, I do not agree with suicide, and I do not support the idea. That is to say, I won't support it if the person is idiotic with the ideal. Which is the meaning of this picture. "See me?" is hinting at the idea that some kids/people commit suicide to grab attention. That is a moronic ideal because after you're dead, you can't gather that attention. Then, you leave all these people to suffer, and that idea is spiteful and selfish. The girl in the picture has a punctured wrist and stares up at you with a camera in hand. "See this? See what you've done? Now you can see how anguished and pained I am! Now you will suffer with that 'guilt', because you can't save me now. Take that." That's what I gather from most suicides. And that's what I meant for this picture. Killing yourself, especially for attention, is the worst possible way to die, I think. It's selfish and spiteful, and completely cowardice and immature. I hope that cleared things for you, Jeh-kun. And thanks again for your critique.
  16. Oooh *jealous*. Coloring pics is one tihng I have trouble with. Perhaps I didn't have too many coloring books when I was a kid. But these are wonderful, Manic ^^ Very bright and vibrant. The highlights and shadowing i gorgeous, especially Jean's (I'm assuming that is Jean behind Xavier) hair. That dark shadow really makes her red hair seem rich and prismatic. Just beautiful. Good, good job.
  17. Hm, my favorite anime artist is Masamune Shirow. You can check out his artwork here and here. Now, I'll give you a heads-up, he's not only an anime/manga artist, he's a giant in the hentai art area ^_^;; So, some of the pics you might want to hurry up and pass. But his style is beautiful and I hope to get anywhere near close to as good as he his.
  18. I am going to say that I like the second one "Ink" the best. The clash of green and pink is perfect. The green isn't too over-powering, and the pink isn't too Barbie doll-esque. They balance each other out, and I've not seen pink and green balance out quite as beautiful as this one has. I don't know about the small font under "Ink"; "the primitive means of communication". It's a great phrase, but it just doesn't look right to me..perhaps cluttered, or too shadowing of the word "Ink". Other than that little detail, the picture is wonderful. Absolutely gorgeous...*saves it* >.>
  19. Warning- Some of these images will be upsetting, disturbing, grotesque, and many other obscene adjectives. Please don't look at the images if you are easily upset with blood and/or lewd morbid/gothic themes. I want to let everyone know right now that this is art, do try and look at the images with an artistic mind. Each of them have a meaning. Though, it may be upsetting to look at (some of them), think about what they mean to you. They may seem negative, but I am looking for a positive meaning (and one is quite humorous, if you really think about it XD). All of the graphics I'm posting now are influenced either by things that I've been struggling with in my personal life or what I've seen others going through. I also would like to add, to all who take this personally, please PM me. If you feel you want to talk deeper beyond the PM, I'll give you my AIM/MSN screen name and we can discuss our problem/questions there. Some of these, I'll just post without the link because they aren't as dark and depressing ^^ The ones that are just linked, that's where the warning jumps into play. If you see just a link, and don't want to see why there's a warning, then don't click it.

Kill the Moment
Your Christ (in my heart)
Mr. Superstar
Target: Engaged
See me?

  20. Well, here's my attempt to try and alter a picture that isn't mine. I wanted to accomplish something with this one, it may seem pretty shocking, but it is supposed to capture an essence of innocense and curiousity. It's a bad way to portray both, but that is the point. Children shouldn't be subjected to this, but it happens. And it's sad.  I'm not happy with the font. I am not gifted with fonting, so it upsets me. I have the same picture without the font..and I probably should have stuck to that one ^_^;
  21. Hum, why not? I haven't seen an RP like this in my 2 years. Name- Gabriel "Gabby" Larson Age- 17 Gender- Male Apperance- Gabby can be seen wearing mostly what he's got on. However, he does prefer to keep his shirt down, and wears a thick, black leather choker. Powers- If you know anything, the Arch Angel Gabriel is the angel of healing. Gabby shares this power with his father. Yet, despite the gift to heal, Gabby can only heal others. He's never been able to heal himself. That's not the only thing he can do, mind you. His father--whom he's named after, Gabriel, was not just a healer, but was very powerful with hypnotizing techniques he performed on his patients to help soothe their pain. This power is both used for the good, and to bid evil intentions. It all depended how it was used, who it was used on, and the user's mind stability. Personality- He's been dubbed as a "lady's man", but really does not hold much interest in the opposite sex. Though, no one can peg him for being homosexual. He's never seen with either a male or female, one-on-one. But, he's usually seen around a group of people. He's a smooth talker, hence his nick name. He can charm both the ladies, and the gentlemen. He's not overly friendly, nor is he a total jerk. Sometimes, he's just hard to get along with; one minute he's happy and talkative, then a few minutes later, he's struck with silence and depression. One can look in his eyes and plainly see that Gabby is a confused individual. Bio- To understand Gabby, I guess I'll have to introduce you to him directly. "Why did you do it, Gabriel?" "I wanted to know if I could take the pain," I sat there on that uncomfortable leather recliner. It suited this pompus prick of a man. I was offended to be of the male gender after sitting through the third visit. What was he after? I had already told him the story twice before. I didn't spare him the gruesome details either. The sick bastard. "So, tell me again-" his double-chin giggled as if he were growing impatient. If anyone was to be impatient, it'd be me. I mean, I had already been in this office--this leathered-up, smoke-infested office--for two hours trying to convince this shrink I was not crazy. He wouldn't listen to me, like he's supposed to. He was getting paid a great deal of money from my 'parents' to help me. All he did was anger me, and I never get angry. "Fine, you twisted f--k," sitting on the edge of the recliner, I took off the black leather--funny how I wore leather when all this office was was the material--choker I now made the fashion statement, "I stabbed myself in the throat. I used a #2 pencil, and it was dull. For some reason, I didn't die quick enough, so I dug around. I felt the strong muscles flex and push on the pencil, and I was curious" "I understand that, but I want to know why you did it? What drove you?" "Everything. You have no idea who I am. You could never understand what blood courses through my veins. My God has turned on me, my friends--superficial friends--turned on me, I..I even turned against myself. I wanted to make it go away," this is unbelievable, I'm actually breaking down to this head shrink. He just stared at me and unconsciously flipped the page in his small notebook. I sat back again, still uncomfortable in the recliner. I, Gabriel Larson, tried to kill msyelf three months ago. It was during fourth period, Algebra. I sat there staring at the filthy desk my body occupied. My teacher was hardly the teacher he used to be. The man was in his early sixties and was tired of high school punks, resulting in his classroom being a total choas; especially fourth period. Every kid around me tossed notes, started arguing with each other over who was going to score with a set whore, how bad they had it at their house when really, they got whatever the hell they wanted. None of my friends where in this class, even if they were, they had friends that didn't like me. And sadly, my friends would hang out with them; they didn't really care. I gazed around the room, kids sitting on their desks, which made me focus on mine. To my surprise, my left hand grew idle and wrote in a language I'd never seen. I've studied Spanish and some Latin, but this was nothing like I'd ever seen. Apparently, I had been drawing on my desk so hard, the graphite had worn down to the wood. I couldn't help think of my 'father' the night before. He swore he'd wear my a.ss thin if I messed up the entrance exam to his choice of a university. It would be a valid statement, he's beaten the spit out of me many times for things like not taking the trash out before I left for school, or if I left the bathroom door open. My 'mother' did nothing for me. In fact, if my 'dad' didn't pick up on something, she'd make it her life's goal to let him know that I needed some form of punishment. Many times I turned to 'God' for help, spiritual help. But I received a deaf ear. I still went home to a belt waiting for me, I still woke up with someone pulling at my hair, and I still hated going home after school or staying the night with a friend. So one Sunday in church, I listened to the priest tell the story of Moses and his journey to the top of the mountain to receive the Ten Commandments. When he came down from the mountain to give his people these set rules, he found them worshiping a golden cow. I zoned out through the rest, my mind was on the way Moses had to have felt. Betrayal and anger must have pulsed through him. I wondered if he blamed God for this, or if he blamed his people. I found myself relating to him. My life, I struggled to make the best grades in school, I tried to keep myself from the 'wrong crowd'. And when I would present my righteous self to my 'parents', they were too preoccupied with themselves and their luxuries. So here I sat, in the midst of a cesspool of laughter and words of hatred, I stare at this worn down pencil and wonder why I was allowed to live for the past seventeen years. And I wondered if I could shove that dulled pencil into my flesh. Would I be able to feel it, would it be able to pierce, would anyone notice.. And it worked, only..I didn't die. Unfortunately, because now I was forced to sit in front of this overly-plump man and try to keep whatever sanity I had left. Why did I, of all people, have to put up with this? I know who I am..
  22. Hum, they look very--what's the word I'm looking for--professional, or promotional? Very clean and clear, all of them. There is, however, one I do not like. Noin. I don't like this banner. It looks too cluttered and crammed. I think it would look better it it stuck with the theme you have going; face shots. Other than that, looks pretty good. It's nice to see something different from your abstract work.
  23. Hum, well, I'd be happy to attempt if I knew what "RE" was. I'm not too familiar with much anime, so if you could clarify and stay away from abbreviations, I know I'd appreciate it ^_^;
  24. Yes, it looks much better. When you work with a lot of colors (specifically the same colors; ie, blue themes, purple themes, etc), you want to differentiate the tones and different shades. I'll edit my reply and add more..I have to run for a bit. Edit- To each his own, I guess. But to add what I wanted: When you work with so much of the same colors, you have to distinguish, and differentiate, between them. Contrast is a beautiful thing. The images are loaded with color, and it feels like they're about to explode. This could be a good thing, but it can be a bad thing. To create a balance, it's usually best to form contrast and shadows. I don't know if that made sense, but, it's how I look at art work. Especially heavily-colored images.
  25. Ooh, I like that one. I like oranges and reds ^_^ So much fire, rawr. The colors blend well, and has a nice lighting effect. But seriously, I really, really love this one. I think it's better than Raiden :p
