I like it a lot, especially the purple. About the typeface: maybe make it less of a display font, less ornate. It would get the point across very well if it were simpler. The white font at the bottom of the page is out of place also.
Thanks. I changed it to a better font. On my computer, it isn't purple at all, it's blue. ^_^; My screen's a little stange though. So the song isn't too sappy? That's mostly what I was worried about.

I made this wallpaper from a doushinji picture, and it screamed for text, so I put the lyrics to a song called "Lullaby" from Billy Joel. It's very sweet... in fact, maybe too sweet, considering it's Sesshoumaru. What do you think? Also, because I had to save it kind of low resolution in order to attatch it, so the text is hard to read- or is it just because it's too small? Should I make it bigger? Are the lyrics too long- should I only put part of the song? Help!

There are four main components to CGing, I think. I'll list them in order of importance (in my opinion.) 1. EXPERIENCE Practice makes perfect, and CGing is no exception. You have to have a knowledge of the program you are using, special effects, and just how to make things look the way you want them to. Tutorials are your FRIENDS, but remember that everyone does things differently. Don't follow tutorials too closely to the point where you're just copying someone else's style. Me, even though I know tutorials help, prefer to find things out on my own, usually by "happy accidents." I'm stubborn that way. 2. TIME This is almost tied with experience in importance, I think. To CG well, you have to be willing to spend hours (literally) in front of a computer. CGing is a pretty fickle business, where things don't always go the way you plan. Sometimes you have to just undo everything and start over. 3. PROGRAM A good program can make a big difference, but I still put it as third because I've ssen amazing things done in MS Paint, and some pretty crappy things done in Photoshop. Having a good program will not automatically make you a good artist, remember that. Having said that, though, there are limitations on simpler programs that cannot be overcome. If you can get it, use a more advanced program. I recommend Paint Shop Pro, at first at least, because Photoshop can be overwhelming without prior program knowledge. Plus Photoshop is expensive, and pirated versions are harder to find than those of Paint Shop... (but I didn't tell you that...>.>) 4. SKILL Like it or not, talent does play a role. Some people just can't do it. But I think those cases are rare. Most people who "can't" CG simply do not have the patience or haven't practiced enough. So, I hope that helped. ^_^

Um, did what in paint shop pro? Added effects to an already existing pic of them? I don't understand why this is posted in the art studio. All you did was click "effects- paint stroke" and added text.

Ah! It's Tare-Panda! Man, I love that thing. I was so excited when I found a pencil case with him on it while I was int he Philippines. He's so *cute!*

Ava: Very nice. Clean cut, simple, and matches, but not TOO matching, where it's too much the sameness. Sig: I like it. Especially the blue stuff in the background (is that a danger sign? too cool). I dunno who the guy is, but he's pretty cool looking. Overall, very nice, clean look to it. The only mildly negative thing is that it looks a lot like a lot of other banners I've seen around here lately. -

mmm... Exploding green globs... It's one of those avas that you could just sit and watch for a while. Almost therapeutic. Or hypnotizing. Or maybe I'm just easily distracted by flashing images. As for your sig... I'm not quite sure I understand it. I mean... it seems like two completely unrelated images, and then one corner just filled in with a pattern that doesn't particularly match either of those images, with text that doesn't match anything either. Was there some kind of message in this? Cause if so, it went completely over my head. But that mage-y guy's kinda cool looking, whoever he is. -
I think I'm actually getting better at this whole CG business.
This is a perfect example of what I was talking about. For a post to be good in this forum, you have to critique the artwork, and if the pictures are posted in general, you're going to get a general answer. If she doesn't want to post them individually, I'm going to have to ask that everyone critiques the individual drawings.
Actually, what I was asking for comments on wasn't the drawings, but the wesite layout/banners. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. ^_^;

I'm so happy about how this turned out, I had to post it somewhere. My friend has been running a site with all her, her sister's, my, and another friend's artwork/fanfics on it. She designed the home page, but all the banners/color schemes on the other pages are done by me. Please take a look, and maybe comment on my banners? I'm very happy with them. And my stuff is under the name Naoko there, if you were wondering. www.geocities.com/artofprocrastination

Heh, I like the animation... mainly just for the "I'm Piromunkie, and I approve this message" bit. I always thought that was such a stupid thing. As for the revolution against DW... how can we know you aren't rebelling just so when DW's reign of power is over and there's a vacancy in the position of tyrant over all OB-dom, you'll take over in his place? What makes you any better than DragonWarrior? WHY SHOULD WE TRUST YOU?

I've had prismacolors for months, and you're already better than me at coloring with them. I just never had the patience to color with them, and I was always so afraid of using them up... Anyways, all the proportion comments made earlier are all true, but the girl doesn't look too horribly skinny. For anime, she looks fine. Again, superb shading/coloring.

I've had no time to draw lately, with my dad making me work for him full time, and getting ready for a big trip I'm taking, so this weekend when I finally had sometime off I drew this thing... it's done entirely with the touchpad on my laptop (due to my lack-of-tablet-y-ness ;_; ) without even a primary sketch or anything to work with, coupled with the fact I CAN'T draw dragons no matter how I try (they always look like dinosaurs or demonic horses) makes it pretty crappy. Whatever....

What a cool idea! *Begins eyeing her living room furniture with an predatory grin* Very nicely done too. Can't say much else except that's it's awesome! Yay!

It's kind of funny when one thing you do suddenly inspires another piece, which, in turn, inspires another. After my Gackt banner, I played around with the Gackt picture and added a poem, and now I took a poem I wrote a long time ago, and added a picture. I love this poem, no matter how short it is. I liked the Gackt banner I made with the creepy white eyes so much, I decided to write a poem about empty windows, and make a big picture out of it. So here it is- I almost debated putting it in the literature section, but as the poem was written (crappily so, I think) for the picture instead of vice versa, I figured it deserved to be here. I dunno what I could use the thing for, but it's pretty, ne?

Thank you both! And yes, that was the allusion. And the picture where Gackt's eyes were black was the original, the white eyes was the one I played with to make look creepy. I guess the picture was creepy to begin with... To get the gridding effect, I found some tutorial, but I ended up doing different stuff than them, which may actually be harder, I dunno. I used Paint Shop 7, by the way, but the settings are usually pretty similar for most versions, I think. So, on your image, make a new layer, make it completely white, then go to Effects>Texture Effects>Tiles. Switch it to square, tile angularity to 0, border to 1, and make size whatever you want. Put intensity to 100 elevation to 90, and hit okay, then make that layer a multiple layer. That's it. I forget how to make it any other color than black- you'll have to try to figure that out yourself, until I get a chance to play around with it again. x.x There's probably several ways to do it, maybe "fill" tool, color replacer, or playing around with layer effects.

I was bored last night, so I started playing with Paint Shop, because I finally found out how to do that neato grid looking thing. My friend loves Gackt, and so I have a few pics of him on my computer. I've never heard any of his music, nor do I know much about him, but all the pictures of him are very artistic and make me want to do something with them- so this is what I came up with. I love the "empty windows," I was so proud that I came up with just the right phrase to go on it. Hopefully you get the allusion. Anyways, any comments, suggestions?

I made a new ava/sig banner! I'm very proud of it. I took photos of my cat, did crazy things to them in Paint Shop, and made this. If anyone can guess how I did it all, they're amazing, because I don't even remember everything I did to them. The text on the avatar says "here kitty kitty" repeated numerous times. It's not really supposed to be readable. Any comments? ooooo, I like it! It's much better. I love the coloring- it gives it more an abstract-ish look, making any proportion difficulties look intentional (which they may have been ^_^; ) What program did you use? I like it a lot, especially her hair.
-
Mmm, you're right. The left arm/hand is a bit too thin, making the hand look like a claw. Her hair might be a wee too thick on her right side, making her head look big, and the pupil of her right eye needs to be moved over. Her neck is a little long, and I think her head may be tilted too much. You did a very nice job of coloring it, and with a few revisions, it could be a very good picture ^_^

Here's an oil painting I did for school a couple of weeks ago. I used a picture, but didn't copy it exactly. I don't like it as much as everyone else seems to. It's only my third finished oil painting, probably my fifth or so attempt.

Two new doodles! I'd like to remind you my definition of doodles is unfinished, messy drawings that have little to no planning before I draw them. These were done to practice with pen. The guy is a character I wrote into a story I never finished, and he just appeared on my page from wherever dead fanfics go o.o The other is just a random messy (and armless) girl.
-
Well, I guess I'm out. Haven't been able to draw anything lately.
