I think my two favorite episodes are "Sin" the one before "Live Through" and "Under the Sky So Blue" the one after. I think that "Live Through" is great too, I just prefer the other two. I have about half the episodes on tape from AS, but the sound quality isn't great from taping them. The more I watch them (over and over lol) I think the the animation, while not top-notch is fitting for the series... to be on a planet that is so set back, perhaps the primitive-ish animation is perfect... think about it.

Have you ever wished life was just plain simple?

The smallest thing can make us happy, but what has come about for that smallest thing, or because of it? Life is inexplicably simple and complicated all in one, guys... Think of the metaphore a butterfly flaps his wings on one side of the world and cause a typhoon on the other, or to use yesterday Simpson's episode, if you ever go back in time, don't touch ANYTHING, because it will change EVERYTHING. Life is a series of chain reactions and everything is connected. It's whether you want to accept this and live with it or fight it to see life as simple or complicated. -
That Ending was great!!! A little sappy though...;) Yuji is great!!
I loved when all the sleepers went CRAZY and destroyed 2nd earth!!!!

I miss it alot, God, do I miss it. 40 Hours a week to just scrape by on my own... not so much fun... WOOHOO, I'm going back to school though, thanks Mom and Dad! Monay troubles take the foreground in my wish for a simpler life, what about you guys? -
I agree that Sadaam had to be removed. He performed attrocities against his people. It should have been done right the first time, though. We should not even have to be dealing now. There are many, many things that the money for the war could be doing here. But we went there, and we are there now and it is our responsibilty to stabilize things now. The worst thing right now is that the American death toll is higher after the victory than during the entire war... As for prevention... There are many things America can do, but there are a lot of things they have done and, I don't think they should have...such as: The American Patriot Act!! This law is one huge infringement on the civil rights of Americans. I highly suggest you read it if you haven't, you might just be outraged... As for things we could do and haven't: An overhaul of the immigration system and border systems. Gray Davis, in aneffort to stay Governor, has signed a law in CA to give state driver's licenses to illegel immigrants, what do you guys think about that one?? And one more thing... the bureau of homeland security, is another bureau completely necessary?? why not improve communication and decrease competition of existing offices instead of passing over them and starting a new one.

Have you ever read the book Brave New World by Aldous Huxly? Not completely in line with your topic, but not far off either... Everyone knows their station in life from the time they are born, they neither strive for higher ranks or look down on those below, because they are there to fulfil a purpose. To the negative, though, there is no drive left to humanity. Everything is machanized. The is desire among people, but no passion, no inventive spirit. Tragic really. (Don't worry if you haven't read it, I haven't really spoiled anything for you, but pick it up, it's GREAT!!!) The drive to better our position in life, whether emotional, financial or whatever is a great deal of the human spirit, if you ask me, which no one did, but whatever. If life were as simple as you outlined above there would be nothing to live for. -
I think a lot of your observations are pretty accurate, Artemis. I really didn't think that I was going to like it at the beginning either. I thought it was going to be too goofy. I think it is a quality series, but it doesn't really come into it's own until the end of the series. Vash, while goofy and seemilngly a coward, is a good character (not good vs evil, but I like him good). HE is so emotionally stunted for having lived so long. It is only in the loss of his lifelong beliefthat he truly find himself and happiness. Wolfwood is still my favorite though, but I;ve said that before...

I agree with James, any religion is very easily taken out of context or taken to far, to fanaticism, is that a word, I'm pretty sure. It is not just the religion that causes them to hate America, there are a multitude of reasons. I think one of the main ones is that those people all live under governments that do not allow free speech, and therrefore, the only information flow they get is government aprroved, and it is somewhat biased anti-American. Another reason, in my opinion, is that people in the Middle East, many of them are poor, and they see images of the way Americans live, and they believe Americans to be selfish and more than that, wasteful. I think that we must just look like a nation of pigs. There is also always the issue of oil resources, which America needs, needs in the way of America uses More natural resources than any other nation, and we are portrayed as wanting to take it from them as for whether we are trying to take it from them, well think about that yourselves, I'm sure that you can probably pick up on my opinion even though I may be trying to mask it...

I am a Star Wars fan in a Family of Star Wars freaks... I really Loved the first three movies, especially 2 and 3, but the prequels?? no, no, no, no, NOOOOO!!! I don't like them at all. I really think that the romance between Anakin and Amidalah was horribly written and Natalie portman (one of my fav. young actresses, check out The Professional) and the kid who played Anakin, I don't remember his name, mostly by choice, had NO CHEMISTRY!!! not to mention I can not picture that whiny post-pubescent cocky kid growing into Darth Vader, a sinister, well-developed villain wh is a bad***. It's just not convincing, and while I am glad Leo Dicapprio didn't get the role, it could have been better cast. After Ep. 2, though, I thought that being whiney might be a heredutary trait for Skywalker males, luke was not well mannered either...

I was actually in my university's production of Lysistrata, so Aristophanes holds a little place in my heart, but I really love sophocles, I LOVE Medea... it's so dark and Tragic

Those are two great movies!!! I love the setting and characters in The Dark Crystal. It has a much more serious tone than Labyrinth. I think i prefer the Dark crystal, simply for the fact that I prefer darker, more seious movies, I love them both, though ;) As for other Jim Henson films, don't forget such greats as The Muppets take Manhattan and The Great Muppet Caper. The amout of really famous people they get to do cameos in Muppet movies is fantastic.

Johnny Cash, one of my favorite musicians EVER, died last night/this morning. I think he was very influential, in many music genres. I just wanted to know if my admiration was shared, tell me what you guys think of the man in black.

I think that i would probably be a lot the same if I were a guy. I have always been a tomboy, and my friends until lately have been all guys. I probably wouldn't have given up skateboarding if I were a guy, but... I probably also wouldn't have a large teddy bear collection if I were a guy!! lol

Emme888, What play did you audition for? Do you have a preferred part you're going for?

You make an excellent point, Queen Asuka. I have a pointed lack of opportunity to experience a great variety of anime, as the closest good store is in Kansas City, a scant 3 hour drive away from where I am. **sniffles sadly** Not to mention, as with many people i have found, I have no on eto watch it with cuz my friands just don't get it.

I totally agree with you about The Usual Suspects, it's one of my favorite movies, and I never get tired of it. The performance in both xmen movies are pretty weak, in my opinion, they have some amazing actors ( Patrick Stewart, Alan Cummings, Ian McClellan) but those assets aren't used as they should be, I agree. Plus, in comparison to Usual Suspects, the script falls really short, it is not as strong a foundation as the script of Suspects. Cinematically, in X2, the shots are kind of boring and straight on, the camera adds no intrigue. I haven't seen Suspects in a while, but I don't remember it being that way. Hooray for Sam Raimi!!(except for spider-man) I am sorry, but I didn't really like it. I think that Raimi did some things right in it, though. The use of vibrant, vivid, comic book colors for the first thing. I think I will sit through it again before I open my big mouth, since I haven't seen it since theaters...

Alright--I don't know if I can shoulder all this responsibilty... this is about the last 2 or 3 ep. worth, let's go... With all the sleepers "gone" (on missions or presumed dead) the high counsil is ready to take on 2nd Earth. As they are still in the verbal part of the altercation, Tony and Alicia radio in.
@nd Earth refuses to dock them, and so the Med station takes them, and Tony arrives with a ship full of Blue, they kill the high counsil, and Tony turns the Med station to ram 2nd Earth.
During this time, Marlene and Yuji are trying to return as well. Yuji has had a breakdown and is no longer under the control of his b-cells. They are instructed to board the med station and stop Tony. Once there, they meet another soldier named Rick who apparantly has a thing for marlene. That really doesn't factor in except he come along to help, but more to protect her. they fight their way to the main computer room, where an altercation with Tony and lots of Blue is inevitable. Tony tries to convince Yuji that he should help him and Yuji tries to convince Tony to come back.
Marlene is injured, Alicia is shot, and eventually Yuji shoots Tony. Marlene and Yuji escape, and then 2nd Earth blows up the Med station, with Tony and Alicia inside. There was a big unrealistic explosion, and then fade to black.
P.S. if you guys can make it to KS, I've got them on tape, cuz I work nights and watch when I get home. :)

animangademon-- I am sorry you can't watch, it is getting really interesting and exciting... Tony turned Alicia!! and Marlene brought Yuji back from the brink. Most exciting of all, Alicia finally shut-up!

Drag a non-anime friend with you, for a security blanket, who knows, you may make a convert... The Asian Appriciation angle s a great idea... I think that if you have enough t get started, and others see there is interest, you're going to bring animke fans out of the woodwork, since they will se it's ok to be a fan and people aren't going to make fun of them for it. As for the teacher, if you already have 7 people and you can't find a teacher, can you just meet at someone's house (unofficially) once a week and watch stuff? You won't have the new member draw, but you can still have tons of fun.

We've been discussing this for the last few days, the thread is named Anime Club. There seems there's some interest...

I withdrawl my version of the harsh remark, heaven's cloud, as a have slight tenancies to agree that it is quite simple, black/white, where's the gray, the man vs. self, some internal struggle. I guess they kind of portay this in the fact that Vash is always trying to appear as just a guy, a human, and he is trying to get beyond what he is...maybe I also am not a huge fan of the animation. It, in my opinion, is a little lower end. The show though still pulls me in, I think it's Millie... hehehe

There are other relationships males can have besides that, and I don't think that they are. Seeing as Knives would never lower himself to touch a human in any manner that wasn't completely violent and lethal. English can be a very inadequate language, especially when it come to the word love, and love between males in this instance is great admiration in a nonsexual manner. at least in my opinion.

Not so off-topic, if we compare it to x-men... I didn't like the spiderman movie either, I thought x2 was much, much better. I am also not excited to see spiderman 2 as I will wait in line for x3 probably, very much as I did for x1 and x2 What's up? x-men or spiderman (movies)?
