And for the record, the one where I'm pointing with a smile on my face is "Me laughing at the people so stupid and lame they're playing the Naruto Card Game."
Off camera, however, the card game kids are pointing and laughing at the people who are so stupid and lame they're dressing up as anime characters and holding toy weapons. Except Shin. He just does it right. -
And the animation sequences of
Remy running away from the evil chef (forgot his name) and Linguini going through the kitchen letting Remy smell everything
were amazing.
Yeah, I was going to mention Remy's first visit to the kitchen earlier. Great directing, felt very frantic and very fun.
That's the most recent photo I have of myself... at least until Sunday when I go to the Anime Expo and pose shamelessly with cosplayers to the delight and/or horror of all my adoring fans.
Holy ****, is it that time of year again already? Time for me to start paying attention to Vox again, I can't afford to miss these things! :D :D :D Guess I may as well post some of me while I'm here. I was halfway hoping someone would start a thread about the movie. :D Guys, Ratatouille really is a great movie, and you should all be seeing it. It's that one awesome CG movie that comes out every few years--almost always from Pixar--amidst all the **** ones we have to endure. The first thing that drew me to the movie was the interesting visual style. I don't remember what it's called (blush, maybe?), but it really smooths things out and takes all the harshness out of the angles and makes everything look more fluid and stylistic. I also believe it's being used in games more and more lately. The story really pulled me in, though. I don't have time to type out my full thoughts on it, but it was just marvelously written, with fun characters and some interesting ideas (especially in Ego's review). There were a few things I didn't like, like the love story, but nothing so painful that it couldn't be forgiven. I could go on, but I'll let everyone else point out the stuff I didn't cover. Really, great movie, everyone should see it.

Well, look on the bright side of all this: it'll at least strengthen your relationship that much more, since you both have each other to lean on whenever things get adverse. Guys, even if you consider "chick" a derogatory term, it's not nearly so bad as you're making it out to be. lol
truthfully, he is my best friend. I've known the guy for a long time and he's like a brother to me.
RONG.
It's just in this one situation **** has hit the fan. In the end, we're still going to be friends...even if I decide to just let them both know. And like you said rachmaninoff, it is an issue of honesty. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just going to wait until everything falls apart for him, and win with an "I told you so and next time I'll ****ing kill you."
It's your call, but my advice stands that you just don't let there be a next time. Find friends who'll actually appreciate you (I know they're out there, even the smallest town has them tucked away somewhere), and ditch the white trash you're hanging out with. -

Everyone's wrong in this situation; you're just the least wrong. Walk out of this situation and these people's lives without uttering a word. You could mull over it for days, but in the end it'll all come to a head on its own and you've got the opportunity to avoid any of these unnecessary indulgences you feel persuaded towards if you just drop it altogether. -

As for the confusion over the pirate lords,
it was a BS cop-out that the writers probably hoped nobody would notice. Because they are aware that it doesn't always have to make sense to pull in more cash.
And if they do make a fourth movie without
Will and Elizabeth
, I will totally see it. I might even enjoy that concept so much that I forgive the writers for making At World's End. (
This is not to say that I think Will and Elizabeth won't be used in the fourth one though. Mostly just that the writers would have a hard time keeping them as main characters. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they used either of them as side characters, especially Will.
)

(I also missed the end of the credits, and I'm not going back to see it again just for that. Anyone wanna fill me in on what happened?) So, yeah. If you enjoyed this movie, then go you. It did suck--what with the crappy comedic timing, unimaginative backstabbing, lack of character development (except Jack. I like how they started in on his fear of death), lame acting on Orlando's and Keira's parts, forced romantic tension, ridiculous ballooning of a fun movie romp into another underwhelmingly epic story, glaring plot holes ("
Barbossa? But how is he here?!
:O" "BECAUSE I SAID SO, MMKAH?"), and failure to kill off Elizabeth in the first scene (I could write an entire post on why she should be shoved off a cliff)--but, well, I guess if that's where your tastes lay...

I've been here for *checks* about three and a half years. On this account, at least. I joined myO on opening day and was pretty active there until I moved with some other former myOers to the greener (i.e., not flat-out ****-brown) pastures of Vox.
The major thing people have to understand about the Pirates saga is that it was never intended to be a trilogy. The writers wrote the first one and didn't even expect it to take off. They were prepared for the worst of feedback. All the stuff they wrote in it (such as the broken compass) was simply extra jazz, and had no actual link to any future material. Upon the surprising (and fortunate) successful of The Curse of the Black Pearl, the writers decided to spawn two sequels linking the first one into a whole series of events in one bigger picture. And so, The Curse... became the introduction and more or less the one that brings in all the characters and shows who they are. It sets it up for the big show. People generally like The Curse... more because it's the one that isn't more so tied around the plot. It's very freely done and was just pretty much a large playground for Jack Sparrow to run around being dashing and charming. Then he runs along with Will and Elizabeth and they all have some jolly good fun. But now in Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, they actually have to start telling the story. This, I s'pose, lost some audiences. However, I still like it all the same. I think the jokes are jokes and they've kept their touch intact. Personally, for not ever planning to have a sequel, I think they tied everything in expertly. I mean, the compass and everything. Down to the last thread, this thing will tie together so perfectly well. You must admit, that is an outstanding moment in screenwright history.
Just because the sequels are inferior for a reason doesn't mean we should excuse them for that. Frankly, the trilogy just seems to be getting way too epic, and certainly way too self-conscious. I'm not saying the third one will suck (or that it won't) or that I didn't enjoy the second, but the storyline just wasn't built for a trilogy. It was built for that one-film romp, and for that jack-of-all-trades element that combines the fun, superficial aspects of many genres; it's the same element that made movies like Princess Bride so great, and the reason they usually don't have sequels.
Now I don't know about you guys, but just like for Dead Man's Chest, I'm going to the first showing on the 25th, midnight, and I'll be first in line. For Dead Man's Chest, I was two hours early to guarantee my spot. This one will be no exception, I'm sure, and there will be people with the same idea as me. Sometimes it's kind of nice to live in small hick towns like I do. You don't have to beat such a huge rush like you would in L.A. or New York, camping out on the sidewalk for a week straight. But what say you guys? Hitting the first showing?
I might see if I can reserve some tickets, but I'm not going to bend over backwards to see a movie that in all likeliness still won't be as good as the first one, in a theater packed with people who will be cheering at every single character entrance, laughing at everything even slightly resembling a joke, and generally being a standard theater audience.

This thread has seriously knocked the wind out of me. I'm going to have to take a week-long break from OB or something, some sort of breather; a chance to reconcile with the fact that so many of you actually prefer other pastry items to pie. Or don't like pie at all. Or haven't ever even had pie. Seriously, guys. Cake?
Being the guitar player is cool and all but really when it comes down to it they aren't the only people up on the stage. Drummers have the hardest job I think. True, you do have to learn alot of chords and notes but the drummer is constantly following whatever the guitarists are doing. And I dont want to hear about how guitarists are the best and drummers suck b/c that is totally bogus.
Sounds like something a drummer would say.
2: What new sites would you add to the OB Network? Sandy's idea for another OB picture site isn't bad. We have profile pictures, sure, but 100x100 isn't really big enough for a decent picture.
I quote this because I had an idea that could solve this problem in an even more original (and enduring, maybe) way than another picture site. Perhaps someone could make an extensive vB plugin that would allow for significant customization of user profiles, almost on a Facebook level. It wouldn't include any features similar to notes or wall posts (or perhaps it would, but that'd certainly be a stretch to consider), but perhaps having the extensive user info and a photo library. And on the main page, maybe a collapsible bar near the top with updates to users' recent picture changes or profile updates. Not something that would distract from the intent of OB, but certainly give a bit more info about members and make profiles more unique. The only reason I bring up something like that that would take such a significant effort is that you're already talking about making entire sites, so your scope here is obviously a bit larger than I thought at first haha. And I'm not sure which question this would be replying to, but I still stand by my old idea of members being able to tag their (and possibly others') posts and sift through the tag clouds.
I think the government owes those exploited in the past a formal apology. It's not that Bush or those alive today are responsible for the atrocities their fathers committed, but that the United States and the federal government as an entity is responsible for condoning those acts. As it stands, there has been no formal admittance that the US government was at fault for things like the Trail of Tears, slavery, etc, and I find that disgusting. It's not wasting time when it come be better served improving current situations, because preparing a speech that says "We're really sorry this stuff happened in the past as a result of the US government" isn't really all that time consuming.
Well see, that's where you've gotta start being careful about this stuff. Because when you take that line of thinking you're in severe danger of thinking of the government no longer as an ever-changing collective of individuals but as a singular, enduring entity, which it isn't. If our administration apologizes on the part of the government, it's a little bit like one business apologizing for the wrongdoings of the business that used to inhabit their building.
