1.
ok, good point on that. ^_^ and I'm not saying science is bad, I'm saying for it to let up and let other povs get around, too, instead of treating them like another common place experiment. O.o Yes. physical universe. :) this is why it cannot proove or disproove the existance of God, spirits, souls, ghosts, etc. They are not in a physical form. o.o it's entirely unknown to science, so some people say "Not there". >.> I say, "If you think it's there, ok. enjoy your pov! but don't get into a closed up box."
Ok, that was... that was the entire point of my post. That science isn't a point of view. It's an absolute. It shouldn't "let up" so that somebody can have an excuse to believe whatever they want. ;o Science is the standard that every belief about everything in the universe must be held up against. If there's a clash between science and your belief in monsters and benevolent dragons, then your belief has to be the one to stand down, not science. That's not my opinion, that's how it works.

    X-Men 3

I just saw the trailer tonight when I went to see V for Vendetta (I couldn't get it working on the internet, or I would've watched it sooner). The movie looks pretty good, but I'm disappointed with everything I saw with Beast. The makeup looked horrible in the few seconds that you got to see it moving up close, and the big wirework jump he did later on just looked really awkward in every way. I hope his character can make up for it. =E
I dont know, but it could be that Rouge can basically kill Bobby if they have contact to long, that might be why he dumped her, lol.
Man, that is exactly why I wouldn't dump her if I were him. Or if I did, I'd make sure she could never get near me again.
I can't wait for it to come out, but does anyone know what characters are going to be in it? I hope gambit it, that man is bad, he's been my fav character ever since i pick up a comic.
Unless they've managed to blindside the whole world, and exclude him even from the trailers, then Gambit's not in the movie. =( The main new characters, I believe, are Phoenix, Beast, and Angel. There'll probably be loads of other one-shot ones, of course, and some of the one-shots from the other movies will also have bigger roles, 'twould seem.
  4. The one thing, tanukioh, that you're missing here, is that every time you've used the word "evidence" or "proof", you've been thinking scientifically. Science isn't a human invention, it's a universal truth that we gave a name to. What you've been talking about this entire time isn't science, it's the scientific finds that humans have made. Science itself is infallible. That's entirely what science is, lol. Finding out the truths about everything in the physical universe. If something seems to be wrong with it, it's the scientist. The simple fact is, science exists and is always right, and if it produces no evidence of dragons or monsters (fuzzy videos aren't evidence. Fuzzy videos are fuzzy because they are fake. Mkah?), then there is no reason to believe that they exist now or ever did exist.
  5.
I think cussing is bad too, to an extent. There are a lot more worse things that you can od. Plus, when you're in jr. high and everyone else is saying bad words, you tend to start saying them yourself without even relizing what's happen. and yes, i'm speaking from experence. However, cussing is one the lighter sins. it's not like i'm looking at porn or stealing stuff.
One of the "lighter" sins? The Bible is pretty explicit on the fact that there are no "lighter" or "heavier" sins, in the spiritual sense at least. The only way I could imagine considering sins in that light is on the level of human interaction, and how they affect others around you. But even if we think of it like that, looking at porn doesn't affect anyone but yourself; so if you're assuming that cussing is a sin and that it also doesn't affect anyone else, then just what is it that makes it any better than looking at porn?
In response to the question of cussing: The problem with cussing isn't even religious. The problem lay in the very term 'cussing.' What most people don't realize and what some even try to avoid is that the word 'cussing' is an idiom. It is an accentual slurring of a different word--cursing.[/i']Therefore the act of 'cussing' is also the act of 'cursing.' Now, I don't know/care who you are or what you believe, but out of respect for all, I won't be one to curse anyone.
The act of cussing is also the act of cursing? In name only, maybe. Choosing to say one of a handful of words instead of another doesn't alter the meaning of what you say. If I say "You're a damn good guy" to someone, I'd venture to say I'm not cursing him. EDIT: Other people got to the bigger/smaller sin thing before me, since I had my lappy closed while still in the reply window for most of the day, heh. With my post, though, I hope to clarify that sins are all equal on a spiritual level in that they all signify that people are impure. However, and this is mainly directed towards Retri's post, they're definitely on different levels when it comes to how they effect the world around the sinner.
  6.
If the Bible doesn't make reference to cussing then what is clean tongue and VAIN speaking? I think cussing is bad.
I already said that the "clean tongue" refers to not actually slandering someone else or gossiping (strange how much gossiping is touched on in the Bible XD), and vain speaking is just that, heh. Being self-conceited. Even if you don't think cussing is ok, you should still look into it more so you can actually prove that for yourself instead of just relying on what you've been told. *nod*
  7.
but the people of my generation there are not all good Christians. They even go to church more than I do, and they participate in many more church activities than I do, but they only do this because they're social teenagers with lots of friends who are also doing the activities. I see these kids everyday, being rude, obnoxious, cussing, and many things that non-Christian kids do. Then they go to church on Sunday and act like it never happened, and restart their whole week the same way. If people think all Christians are like that, they're very wrong. At least, I'm not like that, and I know the older, more mature and less prone to giving into peer pressure Christians aren't. So...I suppose I don't have a religion, but a relationship.
As an aside, I don't think there's a problem with cussing at all. Biblically, you can't really find any reference to it (and I'm pretty firm in the belief that the verses relating to a clean tongue are speaking of verbal slander and gossiping, heh), and it doesn't make any logical sense to abhor it, either.
  8. For reference, my set is only a joke, so I just got lazy and treated it as such. So that's why it's ugly. :P Lix: 9/10. I suppose there's not a whole lot to critique here, but I would've used something other than black for the lines and text in the sig. It was cropped well, though, and all the other elements worked too.
  9. I'm also a Christian. I've got more than my share of problems with Christians today (well, not like the past has been any better, I guess), but I can't see that affecting my view of Christianity as a whole. Most today are so scared shitless of being looked down on by the rest of the church that as soon as any issue comes up, they jump on the conclusion that looks prettiest at an immediate glance, and defend it zealously. =(
  10. *carefully brushes off the thread* I'm authorized for this. ¬¬ This is something I finished somewhat recently for class. We had to take the theme "art leads to innovation", and basically run with it. As you can see, there is absolutely nothing flashy about it, lol; I didn't even use so much as a gradient. I'm somewhat satisfied with the outcome, though. I like how the colors turned out (well, I always have to assume they're ok, since whenever I send it to my laptop it looks awful), but I could never quite nail the "painted-ness" on the part of the robot inside the frame. I had thought about submitting the robot and easel part of it as a shirt on threadless, but I didn't end up liking it quite enough for that. Kevin said he would probably wear it if it got printed, though, so if you think you can convince me otherwise, go for it. :p
  11. It started because the White House saw something they wanted to change, and they took a bull**** initiative to get it done at an economically awkward time. We might pull out a small number of troops as the situation allows, but we won't be getting out of Iraq for years, probably. I hope the troops stay in there as long as they're needed now, but damned if they didn't create that need in the first place, lol. Sure, it's great that Saddam was taken out, but the timing could've been just an itsy bit better.
  12.
What I mean is that they should've given up on their guns if their enemies had been nearby. Pistols did gave them advantage when they're afar, but it's not your best friend on fighting all close. Pistol at that times only had a few bullet inside it and takes time to ready it after a shot. They're dead if they're trying to ready their weapon in a melee ranged combat like that. Firearms at that day produced to attack an enemy from a long distance, they'll immidiately switched to swords if the enemies are too close to them. Doesn't make sense to fight a melee battle using pistols.
I had addressed that earlier. The pirate really only needs one shot anyway, first of all, and even if it only cripples the samurai, there's the possibility of a skilled pirate defeating him from there with his saber (and we're even assuming here that the pirate has only one pistol on him). And pistols in that day were indeed intended for close(er) combat; maybe twenty, thirty feet or something less. In this situation, someone's going to die at the hands of the pirate's gun, even if the remaining opponent defeats him.
Better to try Uncyclopedia [/url']- it leaves no dumb Internet meme unturned!
XD Yeah, I thought about referencing that article, but it's not often safe to make mention of the dangerous Uncyclopedia. >.>
  13. I like it, the colors are pretty different, and the coloring is very smooth. You handled the area around the eye very well, too. Could we see the photo you based it off of, though? :3
  14.
'Trusty' wouldn't be the first word to come to mind if I were to think about a pirate pistol. In that era, they were a definite advantage, but they weren't all that sophisticated. They would've been pretty inaccurate, and landing a killing shot would be down to luck more than anything else - unless you fired at near-point-blank, of course. Still, it depends more on whether you go for the armoured or unarmoured samurai, but in either case a 'Bang, dead' situation'd be pretty unlikely. Reloading'd be all but impossible, since it'd leave the pirate completely defenseless as he sorted out the powder and the bullet for a second shot. If he had two pistols, there you go, but just one? Nah.
Pirate pistols weren't that untrustworthy, lol. If you were close enough for a melee battle, you'd be close enough for the pistol to be effective, and take out the samurai. And yeah, if the pirate didn't have another pistol, he'd still have his sword, which would lend a slight advantage against the ninja, whose swords were very flimsy so they could buy them cheap (so I'm told). The ninja would still probably have more skill, though.
(Wait... feud... pirates... ninjas? Silly notion, that. I doubt any traditional European pirates would've even seen a ninja. If you take the wako (Japanese pirates/raiders) maybe, but I don't think it would've been an exclusive feud with the ninja, and it'd be a completely different battle. Heck, in the invasion of Korea in the 1590's, the shogun all but encouraged the wako to do their stuff. Still, if I'm wrong, feel free to [metaphorically] slap me.)[/i']
It's a running internet joke. I'm sure you could find something on Wikipedia about it. ;D
  15.
As for colonizing on other planets? I see that as nothing but a basis for science fiction movies.
Most things in science fiction won't be fiction, eventually. ;) Man kinda sorta has a knack for overcoming problems. Moving people to other planets and making the planet habitable will take a lot of work and even more time, but so has everything else humans have ever accomplished. It's an issue of "when", not "if". And of course, we don't need to do anything of the sort right now, and we won't for who knows how long. Sure, we should have scientists working on the issue, but right now it shouldn't be anything more than a pet project, and a small investment in the future. Not a multi-billion dollar money vacuum or a grant excuse for rocket physicists.
  16. First thing I want to know is, when did samurai come into this battle? The feud has always existed between pirates and ninjas, but samurai have only been mentioned very infrequently, if at all. As it stands, however, some parameters really need to be set for this thing. I'll just humbly tackle a few different situations: 1v1v1 melee: The ninja will hide in the shadows while the pirate and samurai duke it out. The pirate will use his trusty pistol and take out the samurai immediately. After this, the ninja will probably hit him with one of many poisoned projectile weapons while staying in the shadows. Obviously, location is essential to this situation. If it were a well-lit, flat area, the ninja would be pretty screwed, and the winner between the samurai and ninja would be disputable. Large battle: If it's at sea, the pirates would win for reasons I don't think I even need to mention. A land battle, however, would be the samurai's domain. They are specifically trained for these battles, while the pirates simply attack, plunder, and retreat (with conquest not being an objective), and the ninjas fight in smaller groups, also relying on ambush. All-out war: If it were a war lasting many years, the ninjas would have a fair shot at winning, I guess. They would be effective in taking out both groups of enemies a bit at a time, and would leave most of the initial fighting between them at first anyway.
  17. The only reason I'm not miffed about this being so late is Retribution's and Delta's (I'm just going to assume they were theirs of course, heh) images for each winner. The one for the Oldies, in particular, was hilarious. The results this year were really fun, too. Congrats, everyone! =D :bdance:

  19. I likes, the clean linework is a particular up for me. But like Delta said, the stuff below the head is kinda kooky. I'd put in some more shading or some texture in there, because it took me a while to decide if her left arm was covered up past the elbow with a glove, or if that was just the arm and shirt sleeve, heh. I still can't decide if the forehead is too low or not, also. I'm thinking it is, but just a tiny bit. :X Great stuff, though.
  20.
What kind of alternate fuel source out there can supply our needs the way Oil can? Our transport etc can't be supplied by electric energy or hydrogen (of yet). We can't survive without oil as it stands. We've gone too far.[/color']
Of yet? Maybe it can, maybe not. But like I said, we've got time enough, and there will be people working on this in that time. 30-50 years is quite a while for things to change.
  21. The world won't crash because of that, heh. There's plenty of alternate fuel sources readily available, and when the urgency of the situation becomes something the public can't deny anymore, we'll go to them. We may not be doing too much about it now, unfortunately, but we're still aware of this a long time coming. You can't really judge the fate of the earth so early in the game. :p

  23. Oh, my. The story of my username is, as you could probably pick up from looking at it, pretty intense. After I broke down trying to write about it, I commissioned Alan (DeadSeraphim) to tell the story from my point of view instead. Grab some tissues:
When I first visited OB, I knew I needed a name that stood out. A name that was intense, a name that would make people stand back and go: "Heat0rz...." The best I could come up with, though, was "Who?" and, while enigmatic and amusing in IMs ("What's your name?" "Who?" "No, I'm serious." "...Who?"), I couldn't settle for it. There was burning inside me to cast off the enigmatic persona I had assumed, and becoming a real force in OB, with my amazing username wowing people wherever I strode. So, I took a pilgrimage. For many years I travelled the world, meeting interesting and intense people wherever I went, noting their names so I might use them at OB. I met the Dali Lahma and asked him, but he said he nothing of OB usernames, and suggested I instead devote my time to inner peace. I said "Screw inner peace, I need a username!" and stormed out. I also met the Queen of England, but she just asked for 'scones' a lot. So I threw a rock at her and ran. I even saw God a few times in my travels. He was just hanging out, and we'd have a coffee or something when we met up. He's a really nice, down to Earth guy - he smells kind of like cookies - but he said my OB username was my own decision. So I returned home, and it came to me in a dream, the best OB username I could ever choose. It was awesome. People would become better for having seen it, it was that good. Then, seconds before I woke up, my dream turned into a nightmare about skeletons and Giant Floating Eyes, and I woke up, terrified, with the perfect username disappearing from my consciousness as soon as it arrived. I was depressed for days. I just lay in bed, crying crying crying, not even getting up to eat. My parents were concerned but I told them to go away, they didn't get me! Linkin Park howled out of my room at all hours, and my own bad voice could be heard singing "CRAAAAWLING IN MY SKIIIIIIIN" into the wee hours of the morning. Finally, after a long time of recovery, I went back online. I decided I still didn't like Who? as a username, and, on the spur of the moment, decided to just use my real name as my OB username. And then it dawned on me - I was using the most common name in the universe as my OB username. ME. I WAS, ME NOT YOU. And a deep satisfaction filled me. Quickly, I opened an IM window. "Des, can you change my username to John?" And he only nodded, and said the one word I had been longing for. "Heat0rz..."
24. I don't mind piercings beyond the ears, but I think it's almost always really distracting from the rest of the person. In my opinion, they're pretty unattractive, and usually at least slightly vain. As for colored contacts... no, heh. With piercings, you're just adding something to your face. With the contacts, you're covering up a feature that's already there, and which is arguably the most unique and interesting part of a person's face. And it's like you're replacing it with a sort of hyperbolic impersonation. No thanks for me. :P
