I don't know when the next one is to come out, but more comments would boost it ^_^
I would give a hundred thousand comments about it if it meant I could have another installment right now. It's just so... true to life, lol. If Alan and Alex were newscasters, Alan would draw a penis on Alex's papers. XD

I don't know what I'd say was the best game ending I've ever seen, but I sure as heck know the worst: Chrono Trigger. And you know why? Because I play the game, off and on, for months, and then,
right as I'm about to fight Lavos, the ROM I was using sploded, and I haven't since had the emotional stability to start over again
. So yeah, definitely the worst ending in history.

Russel's the man. XD He's almost definitely my favorite of them, with Murdoc coming in second purely because during the Be A Star competition they hosted on their site a while back, one of his critiques was, "You know, I can actually fire olives out of my todger. You think I should enter? Heh heh. I might win. Heh heh heh." If anyone really likes the hip-hop end of Gorillaz, you might want to check out a rapper named Del tha Funkee Homosapien. He's the voice of Russel. He's also done a collaboration with Kid Koala and Dan the Automator called Deltron 3030, which you'll definitely like if you like Gorillaz. If you're interested but can't find anything on the internet, hit me up on AIM.

I'm John, a 15 year old kid in Hays, Kansas. I've moved around a lot, and before Hays I lived in a town called Ottawa, which was a lesson in misery, body odor, and other unpleasantries that I'm both scarred from and better for. Hays, on the other hand, is pretty cool. I've got an older brother and two older sisters. - I'm just now learning acoustic guitar (if you've wanted to before, but hesitated, don't. It's easier and more fun than I thought it would be at first, and I had no low expectations), but I'm not actually too huge into music. I just wanted to learn something new, and hopefully get to the point with it where I am pretty versed in music. - I still love listening to music on a casual level. I listen to pretty much anything that falls under the monster umbrella of Rock, some of the better rap out there, and a morsel of electronic music. Reggae is one of the few genres that I've never really enjoyed, at least outside of the influences it has in 311 and ska. - I've never got enough music, or enough hard drive space for it. - I've been in one mosh pit (mostly due to lack of opportunity), and it was fantastic. - Dance, most types of painting, poetry, film, and most other arts have never clicked with me. I don't necessarily regret this, because I get enough enjoyment out of the other side of my brain to compensate for this. - In reference to the above, I'm not always sure about what I like, but I do know what I don't. - I'm a Christian, and I struggle to both stay away from the prejudices, paranoia, shallowness, and nearsightedness of pretty much the whole of Christian culture, modern and past, and to not rebel against it simply to be cool and über smart. - I always try to keep in mind that 1) I'm not too knowledgeable about pretty much anything, if I really think about it, and 2) other people are usually significantly smarter than they may seem on the outside. - I make a point out of remembering to put an umlaut in über. I don't mind if others don't, I just enjoy doing it. - I find Math and Physics to be not just practical and logical, but genuinely fun. Learning about them is like putting together an enormous, mysterious puzzle. - I enjoy using Illustrator, and prefer it to the enigmatic land of Photoshop. - I'm not very emotional, and therefore not great at consoling people. Unlike with the art thing, I do regret this. - I love to laugh. My favorite movies are largely comedies, and my favorite TV shows all are, except for my number one, which is... - The Twilight Zone. I love it, and I have gathered what I thought was all three DVD collections, but it turns out that one of them was only half a collection, so I'm currently at 83%. Finding that last half collection is going to cause me to transcend the physical plane, evaporate, and continue existing in a beautiful, beautiful haiku poem, probably about covered bridges. So if I stop posting one day, you know...
That, good sir, is perfect[/i']. I'm so happy that you used Jon Stewart, haha. And all the others have been quite fun as well; I just felt like I had to come out of the woodwork to congratulate yours in particular. The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty of 2005 (Nominations Thread)
John replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
Mmkay, I think I've given it enough thought. OB Couples I'm really only very familiar with DeadSeraphim/Hevn, but the fact that so many people can have a successful relationship not only between hundreds (or thousands) of miles, but on an anime forum says marvelous things about OB. Go romance! Not Shinmaru I think he's the only person so far this year to nominate himself, yet he also is able to keep up a nigh-emo level of self-contempt. Is this some strange arrogance, or just him being lame? Doesn't really matter, I guess. Now, think about if Shin left OB. That would be well within the 50 niftiest things to happen on these boards since he joined, let alone in the course of one year. Since it works nicely with the case I'm making, I'll assume that Shin's post rate has dropped at least some since last year. So here's to a year of a little more Not Shinmaru. Custom titles These things are great, and really can add a lot more to someone's sig/avi theme. The potential for them is definitely as strong as for a signature or a banner. I love 'em.
(Thoreau is calling my name. Although, I wish I could Thoreau him out the window)
I would have nominated you for that in half a heartbeat, but I don't want to get too frivolous with these things. :P -
linky-link Something everyone should know is that Wikipedia has the answer to everything. I'm not joking, either. Everything. And no, I've never seen a citizen's arrest, or even heard of one being made. I'd love to witness one some day, though. I think it'd be a hilarious irony to watch. I didn't think this would be a good discussion topic at all when I first saw this thread, but I guess it really could be, what with the dangers and politics of the situation, and I'd guess that at least someone around here has witnessed one before, so that could make a good tale.

*pops in quickly to give his take on it* I'm also a Christian, so I think homosexuality is wrong. I'm not going to try to get someone else to believe that, though, because it won't work. If you don't follow any kind of religion, you've got no reason whatsoever to think that two people of the same sex digging each other is wrong. If I try to convince someone of that, it will only backfire. And I'm not going to hate a person, or refuse any offers of friendship with them, because they're gay. If I did that, I'd have to go the whole nine yards and disown any non-Christian friend of mine. Now, did Jesus do that, or did he invite them to luncheons? Hm, let me see if I can remember. Also, I support gay rights. Not gay marriage, or homosexuality itself, but the legal right to it. That's what we humans call "free will", and I believe God put it in us for a mighty fine reason. He's not going to force anyone to do what he's told us to, because then the act is meaningless. He put the Tree in the Garden because without it, we wouldn't know anything but good. And, as one of the only 100% true clichés I've ever heard goes, good can't exist without evil. So same goes for Christians. We don't have the authority to force anyone, in this case on a legal level, to do what we believe is right just because we believe it's right. If it's murder we're talking about, ok, lock 'em up, because that affects other people. That's something you can deal with on a legal level. Homosexuality's not the same. And really... it's not a big ******* deal, lol. Not compared to any other sin. It's directly mentioned I believe only once in the Bible, and that's because it's just a common sense thing for a Christian. God put biological differences in man and woman for a reason, so that decision should be respected. That's the only thing ever mentioned about it.
Family friendly does not mean entirely family orientated. The controller does not determine the game library, and the Revo controller is simply open to any type of game, whether it uses the remote's full capabilities or not. As it is, Nintendo could viably have games for the system that use the Gamecube controller, since it has ports for that. Nintendo knows that some people will be turned off by something so radically new, and thus the shell that may or may not be included with the Revo. There'll definitely be people that don't get a Revo just because they're too used to a "normal" controller. I'm sure that there'll be tons of games, 3rd party or otherwise, that are gimmicky. It's unavoidable with that kind of input device. But by the same token, there'll most likely be more games that are able to utilize the Revo's controller in intuitive new ways that deliver an entirely new gaming experience. That's up to the developer. I, for one, can see shooters being incredibly fun with the Revo controller. I just thought, is there a reason this thread is addressed specifically to XBox users? The question can be applied to PS2 and Gamecube users just as easily...
Exactly. Something strongly tells me that most of the more traditional game developers aren't going to start thinking outside of their "genre boxes" and do something new just because they have a new controller design to work with. Instead, those developers will try to use that controller design to comfortably do the same thing they've always done (which is certainly a fine thing by me. New circumstances don't mean that you have to ditch the types of games you've been great at making your whole career, heh). So if you don't want a whole lot of new changes, you're not necessarily going to get them. I think more traditional gaming can still have a strong hold in the Rev, along with the new stuff. Also, as has been a generally accepted fact so far, shooters are probably going to start appearing in some mighty big numbers on the Revolution. And if the current trend is any indication, they're not going to stop being gory any time soon. So that could arguably help break down some of those "family-friendly" barriers many of you are turned off by. Though it's probably not going to become bloodbath or anything, lol.
:bdance: Yes, the Baron Dance. An inside joke from Group Sounds localized here. It was officially my idea, John made it, ...someone localized it (I don't know whether or not I can say who), and Goddess popularized it. Good work, team! Sorry, Baron. Next on the list is the Emo Dance!
That was this year, homes. I already thought about it. :p -
Here's one sort of along those lines. I would've used Steve Carell or someone for the "NO WAI!!!", but I couldn't find a good pic.
I really hate the idea of the revolution controller. Its a remote :animesigh .
A sexy remote. Here's the video. I'd watch it before you make any assumptions about the Rev controller. You might be surprised at how it alters your viewpoint. (Also, the little analog stick attachment seems to be very important to the controller, so that definitely adds an air of a more traditional controller.) But on topic, I'm not going to end up buying the Revolution if it's even priced at $50, because my dad's a technophobe like that, lol. And anyway, games would still be $50 a pop, which I think is a horrendous amount, if only on the buyer's end.

I just started guitar, too. After a little Googling, I found what is so far a great site to start learning on. Very much a "pick-up-the-guitar-and-go" style of teaching. You can find it here. A few warnings, though: 1) the site seems designed for learning on acoustic, so I don't know what effect that'll have with you learning electric first, and 2) it's at About.com, so I hope you've either got Firefox or a love of popups. :P

See, this is what we should be seeing more of from our moderation team. (The original doesn't seem to be working, but I know what it is, so no biggie.)
Wow, this is rather amusing. It's an interesting idea to have this whole chain of critique because I (and many others) wonder just how our sigs look to other people. I like putting the random quotes in mine. ^^;; Err, okay. *cough* Let's get this going. Well John, I guess your overall set is about a 7/10 or so. The banner reminds me of those "what the hell are we doing?" moments. But no, it's snowmen! And somebody ran over the snowman! It's those very random and dumb things that make me laugh. I love things that are fun. The avatar could use some work. I'm really trying to determine what the hell is going on, since I'm seeing a person, a tennis racquet, and some sort of explosion. By itself it's, persay, unique and different, but the blue-ish background just throws it off. I'm guessing you were trying to make it blend into the background, but missed. By the way, the hex color of the background is #F0F0F0. X3 Thank you random buttons.
The banner's Calvin and Hobbes.=D And the avatar is a picture from the cover of a Soundgarden album. The explosion is the guy's hair, and the tennis racket is a loop of microphone cord, and some speaker or something in the background. I may change it to make it clearer sometime later, but I'm too sleepy now. By the way, what do you mean about a "blue-ish background"? It's a black and white photo, heh. (And whoever's next, don't rate my sig, in case it wasn't obvious. :P)

I changed mine, so I'll post again. (No avi/banner set this time.) Shi no Tenshi: 8.5/10 Not much to say about this one, I just like the image. Reminds me of something from My Bloody Valentine. Quality's good too. Good job!

MF Doom: Hoecakes A crazy rap song, lol. Tony (generic npc #3) talked about MF Doom a little bit once, so I downloaded a few songs. Pax217: PSA I don't listen to Pax too much, but they're not too bad of a band, comparable in sound to 311. They bwoke up. ;_; Blindside: As You Walk Another one I don't listen to that often. If you've heard a Blindside song before, I wouldn't use that to judge whether you like them or not, lol. Their albums all sound very different. Pavement: Type Slowly I've been on a big Pavement rush lately. They were a '90s indie band, and pretty much the first one I've enjoyed thoroughly. Try them out. Soundgarden: My Wave Seriously, who doesn't like Soundgarden? Reality Check: Plastic The song and band name are both generic and sucky, but these guys had some really original, quality stuff, especially for being a Christian band. Very good at going from mellow, funky sounds to slightly-distorted, guitar-driven rock. Too bad they only put out one album. Soundgarden: Pretty Noose Again, Soundgarden rocks NOFX: Don't Call Me White I listen to some '90s punk on occasion, when I can take the whininess, lol. When I can, this is a good song. Live: Life Marches On From "Birds of Pray". Good band, bad album. Hoobastank: Out of Control From "The Reason". Same as with Live, good band, bad album, heh.

What do you do when you have nothing to do?
John replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in General Discussion
Interesting, most interesting.
Actually, not at all. That's the entire point of the thread. :bdance: I just picked up guitar, so I've got a lot to work on whenever I get bored. I also got two Twilight Zone collections for Christmas, so I've got a ton of watching to be doing. 8D But as for what you can do? Click the magical spherical puzzle, type stuff in, follow links. I promise you, you won't ever be bored again. -
Muad'Dib: 7/10 Despite not having played the game, I've concluded that you really can't go wrong with MGS images, lol. It's a great-looking series. The text in your avatar, though, is both not very noticeable and pretty spontaneous, heh. Your banner would be pretty good, but you can't read the "Snake" in "Snake Eater" at all. I also like the lyric at the bottom, but it doesn't really fit the avatar/banner very well.

lol. Good work on this one, too. If anything, I'd make the chameleon even lighter, so that seeing him on the shirt would make the intent of camouflage that much more obvious (even on that image, I didn't get it at first that it was supposed to be hiding, heh). I don't think people should notice the chameleon at a distance, but when they get close, they'd be like, "Hey!". That'd be pretty unique. Also, I wouldn't go with putting him on the side of the shirt. Either keep him at the chest or maybe try on the shoulder. As for a name, how 'bout "Yellowflage"?
-
If you're insinuating that you usually know beforehand what you're getting for Christmas, then you, sir, are a heathen. You should never know what you're getting for Christmas before you get it, otherwise why not just skip out on getting presents for each other, and just use the season to buy stuff for yourself? (Actually, that doesn't sound half bad...) *cough* But as for giving, the only present of any interest to talk about is the Muppet Show season 1 DVD, which I saw at Hastings and knew was going to go to my older brother. XD

Retri: Let's get the bad out of the way first: I think the picture, just as a whole, is a bit too plain-looking for my tastes. It's got nothing to do with its simplicity, which I appreciate, but I think it could've maybe used a very soft gradient or something for the background, or maybe have some of the "families" running outside the border. Something to give it a bit more interest. I also didn't like how the letters were arranged inside the pink family. Maybe slightly different sizes would've helped that some, but it's mostly because Times isn't very well suited to really small text. And finally, the families are all really pixelated. Not good. I loved, however, the stuff at the bottom. The type spacing was great, and the pink to the left of the text was perfect. The whole piece was fairly well done, but the bottom part really made it for me. Good job. Kitty: I think the heart on the right of the picture is both kinda weird-shaped and pretty unnecessary. Also, like Katana said, the bottom picture is pretty grainy. I'm not sure whether I like the shadow on the bottom picture, either (did you do that, or was it part of the stock?). Also, on Faye's left arm in the top, you can see a good bit of eraser eating her away. :X But really, that's the only problems I had with it. I hate Ed, but the piece is great lol. I especially liked the text positioning, which wouldn't have worked had the text not been about unconventionality. As it was, it worked great. Both pieces were better than I expected, and this round marks the first time I've actually liked the text in both (or pretty much any, heh) pieces. So w00t to both of ye for that. But, all things considered, I like Kitty's submission more.

I tried for forevarz to get the whitecaps to look right, but I just couldn't do it, heh. If anyone wants to try, have a go at it. :P And the left side you were talking about (very clever and dignified animal boob joke, by the way. Least everyone knows what you're into now. >;P) was based off this photo, which I based most of the bird off. EDIT: The word "this" in the last sentence is a link, in case that was confusing. I forgot it myself when I saw my post, lol.
