4.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel Things like Chair exist in today's art community simply because the artist is smart enough to know that people are pretentious enough to buy it. Things got more and more modern and surreal and things like this and solid red blocks were the result. There's really no other reason. I doubt in a truthful conversation with the "artist" of Chair that he'd give the normal spiel he would give the art patrons this stuff caters to. In fact, I would do something like that just to make fun of these people. Anyone that would buy it would obviously be an incredibly dumb person and subject to ridicule. My artist buddies and I could all laugh at them in our studios, imaging what outlandish stories the buyer would come up with about Chair to tell their friends. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them thought that way heh.
Exactly. Like so many other things, it's stupid people that make the art world work. Not that it's always stupid to buy art, but much of the time it is. Like the Chair. I believe Chair is absolutely not art. In order for it to be art, it would have to have been made with intention to be a work of art. Of course, maybe it was; maybe someone took special time and care to slowly rub in the stains on the chair, or cut the fabric seam by seam. And then, after the artist saw that he didn't like the finished product (or he realized he had just mangled a perfectly good chair) and threw it in the dumpster, where the other "artist" found it and saw that he liked it. Not a probable explanation, but still. On the other hand, maybe the artist was stupid, too, and actually believed that he was responsible for that Chair being there. See? Stupid people again. They keep our economy going, and at the same time destroy it. They are the perfect balance. At the same time, they'd all be long dead if it weren't for the few smart people in the nation. You're not really reading this anyway, though, your eyes are just slowly scanning the words, absorbing them into your brain as quickly as a cinderblock, aren't you? Yep. That's what I thought. Now, check this out: Sex. Did you see that? Your mind was on complete autopilot until you saw that. Now, go back and reread this thing. Sorry about that last paragraph. Anyway, my definition of art is something that you create or something already created that you modify in order to get a point, idea, or emotion across. I wish my newspaper printed Dave Barry...
  5. I dunno, I think life is more like a box of Cap'n Crunch. Although some of the events are very much alike, nothing's ever exactly the same, and after you've gone through enough of it, you either want to throw up or you need to sit still and take a break for a minute. After a while, though, you'll run out. Then you'll die. Because you're out of Cap'n Crunch. And you cannot live without Cap'n Crunch.
  6. This is the best dead baby joke I know (also, my computer isn't letting me black it out. So if you don't want to read it, skip it.): What gets louder as it gets smaller? A baby in a trash compactor. A blonde called her boyfriend and told him to come over because she couldn't figure out this really tough jigsaw puzzle. "What's it supposed to look like?" asked the boyfriend. "The front of the box has a tiger on it..." she replied. When he came over, he saw the puzzle, looked at her sympathetically, and said, "Honey, put the Frosted Flakes back in the box."
  7. Whether you were asleep or not makes no difference whatsoever. It's basically the same thing as him knocking you out with a club and raping you while you were unconscious (to a somewhat lesser degree, of course). It's barbaric. If slapping obviously doesn't work because he's stronger and faster than you, just stay away from him. If it's physically impossible for you to not be with him, always make sure there are lots of people around; never go somewhere alone with him. Never sit by him. If he tries to move in on you, tell him to stay away. Just don't try anything violent if you can help it; all that will do is anger him.
  8. Yes, to agree with everyone else, as is one of my (many) annoying tendencies, and to crank in as many commas in one sentence as possible, I'd have to agree with everyone else in that you should just bite the bullet and move on. It's happened to me, it's happened to a lot of people. You may find it hard, but just take it logically: why would you still want him around? He disses on you, tries to ignore you, and you still persist? Just don't. Whenever it happens to me, I simply ignore them right back, and stop caring about anything that has any effect on them. They haven't really given me any reason to, anyway. Now, if I have misinterpereted this entire post, then you should just give up on that expedition. Pluto is much further away than it looks, y'know. :p
Originally posted by Justin I really think people should do a deeper study on the Early Church, I'm tired of what 1800-something years of trying to choke out the Spirit has done to humanity's friendship with God. And that is what Christianity is--humanity's friendship with the Lord. It's not a religion, because religion is the very scale that covers the eyes of many people today.
Not only is it a friendship, it's an intimate marriage between He and The Church, and every one of His children individually. Christianity involves many levels of respect that are not limited to friendship. Then again, you could sum it up like you said because if you aren't his friend, you're his enemy.

  13.
Originally posted by FallOut To "Circuit/J: What did Jesus say to Martha before he rose Lazarus from the dead? That is where he said that you could recieve him after you were dead or recieve him while you lived and never die. In my opinion (which is not narrow minded) it means if you die, you never received him until then. Think about it. Christ also said that not all shall die, some shall be changed. John 3:16 says that God gave his only begotten son so that everyone who believed on Him would not perish (meaning die) and have eternal life. Also how can you believe in "By His stripes I'm healed, when you have to get sick and corrupt to die in the first place?
That isn't at all what Jesus said to Martha. What he said was: "Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." John 11:23-26 It says if you believe in Him, though you are dead, you will live; And if you believe and live, you won't die anyway. It uses death to mean judgement or Hell; and notice how I bolded the word "and." It doesn't say "or" anywhere in there. Basically, if you're dead physically, but you believed in life, you'll be in Heaven; but if you're still alive and you believe, then when you die you won't go to Hell.
Originally posted by FallOut I don't believe in a rapture. I've already been raptured man. This world is not going to stay the way it is. The incorruptibles will take over. I know a lot of people that died waiting for that joke to come to pass.
How could you possibly believe one thing in The Bible, and not believe another? It clearly states that there will be a rapture. Do you know what that means? That means there will be a rapture. C'mon, is it that difficult?
Originally posted by FallOut What did God tell Adam and Eve would happen to them if they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Did he tell them that they were going to go to hell? No. He told them they would surely die. And that is what they do and they are born again, because all life is eternal since Christ died. Why do you think people saw the dead walking through the streets after His death. That was the first resurrection. The rest just have to be back here over and over again until they receive the truth about what Christ really finished. That is the second death and the next repeatedly until finished.
For the Adam-and-Eve part, see my first reply; and why would the dead just hang around and wait to figure out the truth? No, that is nowhere in The Word. If you die, you go to Heaven or Hell. In case you need me to type it again: if you die you go to Heaven or Hell. Let it sink in a minute, it'll make sense eventually.
Originally posted by FallOut As for your bible thumping, spirit filled, tongues talking, so called Christians..........one almost killed my sister............she actually died and was recusitated. 5 years ago when I was 5 and my sister was 10 a lady from church, this sweet lady from church as everyone believed, babysat for us for the weekend. After making us watch a marathon of about 12 hours of Christian T.V. she got the idea that we were posessed by the devil and she had to pray the demons out of us. Well this schizo lady starts purging our house of food and our toys and clothes and stuff, she then thinks that the rapture is coming and she better kill us before it comes so we don't get left behind. So she stabs my sister in the chest severing a main artery and doing damage to her heart with a butcher knife and cuts my sisters throat, larnyx and just missing the caroted arteries, but doesn't count on me running for help. Not only did my sister have to recover from the attack and all the surgeries and therapy, she had to fight a bad case of Hepatitis that she contracted from the blood of the babysitter, not a transfusion! She is still in recovery.
Ok, Christians don't talk in tongues, and judging by your accuracy so far, I'm not sure if this lady even considers herself a Christian or not; because it seems you've been generalizing the term simply to mean a protestant. This is all supposing the story is true, though I honestly don't care if it is or not. In any case, I'd say that lady was just insane, because no sane person, Christian or not, just acts as sweet as can be and then flips out and tries to kill someone.
  14.
Originally posted by FallOut I haven't heard anything here remotely Christian as I see it. If the punishment for sin was death, and Christ is your savior, then why do you still have to die? You don't have salvation at all. To be saved from death, now that would be salvation from your sins. The ultimate power is to be transformed incorruptible now.
Hey! You're right! I wanna be stuck on earth right now for the rest of my life! I want immortal powers, and I want them now! I ain't waitin' for nothin'! I don't want to experience a physical death to receive a glorious paradise! I'd better have immortality, because being stuck on a planet like this forever is waaaaaay better than anything else I could ever receive!
Originally posted by FallOut And why do the so called Christians think they are going to have a new body in a spiritual place? Why the heck would they need a body?
It's taken as a figure of speech. It says a new body to mean a new "you," as best I could put it. And we believe it because it is clearly stated in The Bible, and that's what we go on.
Originally posted by FallOut And why are people waiting around for the end of the world? When it says that "once at the end of the world Christ took away our sins?" And why is everyone looking for Christ to appear? When He said himself that the Kingdom of God would not come with outward show, it would come from within?
Why are people waiting around for the end of the world? Well, it's that or death (physically). I personally don't care which, but I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to see the Rapture.
Originally posted by FallOut Everyone in the churches (or tombs) as I call them, are running around trying to do what Jesus would do. If they could do that, then why did Jesus have to die? They talk a talk, and walk a walk and it is all cra*. They give more power to satan than they give to God. Did Christ say, "All power is given to me in heaven and on earth" and then give the devil some back? They give the devil power to keep their stupid judgments alive. No, they have only taken satan's place. They are like Necromancers, lulling those asleep back to the second death.
Of course we can't do what Jesus could, but we are clearly commanded to do what we can. Do you suppose we should just say "Ah, screw it. I'm saved, so I guess I'm free to do whatever I want?" No, because that's not what we are commanded to do. The devil has no power but the power we gave him, as you said, but we don't run around doing whatever we can to assist him. Those people are called satanists. They are the religious opposites of Chrisitians, and if you can't see that then (and I'm doing my best to put it as it is) you are very sad. But the fact is, everyone is going to sin. That's been said countless times now, and I thought people had figured that out by now.
Originally posted by FallOut Every so called Christian I know has absolutely no power. The only power they have is like rubbing two sticks together. Their own sacrifice and their works...If you could receive the truth about what Christ did, it would take down all the rest of your cra*. Nothing would be impossible. But that would take some faith man.... that's where faith would start, but not where faith would end. Until then, you haven't recieved squat. Jesus said you could receive salvation when you died OR you could receive it now and never die. It's as simple as that. Jesus is not a man anymore, He is God and god is all and in all. There is no separation between GodJesusHolySpirit. I've heard so called Christians praying to all three separately. What kind of image of God is that? The truth has already returned to this world....too bad everyone missed it.
Yes, we have no power, but God has power. We aren't anything but messengerpeoples. We don't save people at all. And can I then suppose that you know "the truth about what Christ did?" Or where Jesus said "you could receive salvation when you died OR you could receive it now and never die?" "I've heard so called Christians praying to all three separately." Forgive me. From now on I will pray to GodJesusHolySpirit, even though Jesus prayed to God. But as you said before, we're not supposed to act like Jesus. The truth has been around since the beginning of time....too bad you missed it.
  15.
Originally posted by Mitch I like how you take quotes of mine that have no validity in the argument you are arguing, and babble on about them. Whatever.
I'm not arguing anything in particular. I just pointed out my opinions, and said all that I thought I should. If you consider that babbling, then that's what you and pretty much everyone in this thread has been doing.
Originally posted by Mitch If you need to understand that I am telling the truth, I'd bade you go to this following site: http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_prac2.htm There. I hope that finally shows you that I wasn't just digging something out of nowhere. If you need where I got this information, since you seem to not believe I am actually going places for my information, you can go here.
I didn't think at all that you got that off the top of your head, I just thought it was incorrect. I was asking for the source to see where you got it from, not if you got it from somewhere.
Originally posted by Mitch What if you hadn't known about Christianity as a religion, what if your parents had not first introduced you to it? What if instead, as you were born, you were gaven into a different religion. Wouldn't you still be worshipping that religion, or be tied into it in some way? This is my point. Just look at other religions--most likely, the kids of families in these other religions are often in the same religion as their family. They aren't given a choice. Rather, as they are born, they are forced into baptizim when they are young and unable to make decisions themselves. In this way people are coerced into religion when they don't have any way to push back.
God will always give you the choice somewhere in life to accept him at your will, whether you were "born into a religion" or not.
Originally posted by Justin Now, I understand your point. But i find it wrong, lol. Children probably have the best understanding of God out of all people. He simply IS. Childlike faith is powerful, much more powerful than anything I'll ever get on my own. Children are indeed raised by their families to be Christian--this is fine, in my opinion. Why? The Bible says so, basically. "Raise a child up in the way he should go, and he will not turn from it when he becomes a man." Or something close to that.
Also, The Bible says to "Come forth like a child," or thereabouts.
Originally posted by Baron Samedi You obviously place a lot of misdirected faith in people. Just because they are Christian does not make them good. And anyways, aren't most people good people? You only hear about the bad ones. My mum knew a lady who was a real *****. She was very nasty to people at work, a real nasty piece of work. Anyways, she goes to Church and feels that she is forgiven for being a *****. She comes back next week and is nasty all week. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
Of course you're not automatically good if you're a Christian. My point was that true Christians see more point in trying than most others. Yes, most people are good, but there are many bad ones at the same time. Christianity is more than just a belief system, it's actually a relationship with God, as put by Justin. If you claim that you're a Christian just because you follow all the rules, it doesn't make much difference.
  16.
Originally posted by Mitch And isn't passing any bill like this deemed unconstitutional? State and religion shouldn't have any place with each other, nor school and religion. It's right in the constitution as far as I am conerned. So I hope this bill being passed gets what it deserves--that being that it gets revoked and taken away. Because as I see it it is unconstitutional. Ah well.
Actually, it isn't. Contrary to common belief, the bill of rights really says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Nowhere in it does it say anything about separation of church and state (or school).
Originally posted by Mitch Evolution is a scientific theory, therefore it belongs in school and science. God is not a scientific theory. They don't belong beside one another. You are learned of God, most people are, at an early age. Supposedly 79% of Americans are Christians, so that should tell you right there.
I was wondering about that 79% from another post you made, too. I don't know what source that came from, but I honestly don't believe that's true. Whether the pollsters just overgeneralized the category of "Christian," it wasn't accurate, or whatever. If that was the case, I, myself, believe that the country would be in much better condition than it is now (not to get a "holier-than-thou" attitude, but if you were actually a Chrisitan (and not just someone who claims it), then you would at least try to keep from wrongdoing as much as possible).
Originally posted by Mitch I don't see religion as that big of an issue in its own. It is what it is--you either accept this, or you don't, and be close-minded. I accept religion for what it is, and by this have formed my own opinions. Never should anyone force you into something such as religion.
They aren't really being forced into anything. It's just a moment of silence that probably is intended, directly or indirectly, for prayer, but you don't have to pray at all. Yes, they force you to be silent for a minute, but they also force you to go to school period. And the law probably wasn't made in bias to Christians, but to keep from taking freedom of religion out of schools completely; because that, as we know, has already started happening.
Originally posted by Mitch I personally don't see why you would need to pray at school, unless you are a very othodox Christian, and you put your beliefs of God above all else.
Well, that's kinda the point of Christianity: putting God at the forefront of your life. Now, I don't think any religion should be forced upon school, but it should not be abashed (abashed, abashed, abashed), either.

  18.
Originally posted by Mitch And it's obvious someone has told the best story, with most Americans being Christians these days. Now, being as new as I am in this forum, I don't know whether you're an American or not, but most Americans are certainly not Christians. True, we have more Christians than any other place in the world, but we're far, far from being the majority. Far, far, far. Farfarfarfar.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve There are MILLIONS and MILLIONS of species on this planet and even more sub-species, and you actually though he did all that in 7 days or whatever? Of course not.

Originally posted by Drix D'Zanth Why, yes I do! It?s not any more or any less unbelievable than believing a single celled organism suddenly came together in the PERFECT proportions to sustain itself, in a puddle of goo. While we are on the ?first? cell, let?s talk about your previous point. You said that mutation doesn?t necessarily provide the drive towards evolution?
We don't really know whether it was 7 days at all. At least not 7 days to us, for 1,000 years passes in the blink of an eye in God's time; so the 7 days could've been 7 actual rotations of the Earth or any amount of time. That would give time enough for evolution. Also, the order that things were created in was fish, birds, beasts, then humans (or to the best of my recollection.) I guess that could easily hint toward evolution. But I, personally, don't quite believe in evolution because that's the way I was brought up. If it is true, then it really wouldn't matter to or surprise me anyway. But I guess the idea that the God of the Universe, in all his infinite power and wisdom, could create a universe is pretty distant, now isn't it? Especially in only seven days, even though he himself created time. I guess I forgot that God isn't any more powerful than a human. We are the most magnificent beings in the universe, now aren't we? Nothing's better than us, right? Riiiiiiiight.
  19.
Originally posted by FartMaster745 If the Big-Bang theory is true, then it is possible that life, or free will if you will, has started then. Then by some extreme luck some of that free willed thing traveled to Earth and the conditions were just right for it to thrive and live.
I, christian though I am, can see why most people believe in evolution. How they got the idea of the Big Bang Theory, however, completely escapes me. As I understand it, it's presumed that the thing that caused the Big Bang (called the Cosmic Egg) (which brings up those never-ending questions about the Cosmic Chicken) was made up primarily of oxygen and nitrogen (or hydrogen or something...) and it somehow randomly exploded after sitting there doing nothing for ages (guess it got bored). But that part doesn't raise as many questions as this: if it's true about the cosmic egg, then oxygen and nitrogen (or hydrogen or something and a few other elements), if left alone for a long period of time....................will turn into a human. Yeeeeahhh, smart thunkin' on the scientists' part.
  20. Well, the ninja turtles as a whole represent the different aspects of me, even though they overall make absolutely no sense (think about it: they're turtles who fight mutant rhinos, boars, and a guy who, essentially, is a blend of Sauron and Jason Vorhees.) You must realize that ninja turtles are incredibly complex beings and that for me to describe our intangible connection would be like trying to explain the universe....except with more pizza involved. HOWEVER, they have apparently come out with a new series in which the turtles' entire mindset can be summed up to "TURTLE-HULK KILL WORLD!!" This shockingly inaccurate display of such beautiful-minded creatures quite saddens me....
  21. Sometimes, when called upon, I respond with "adeh?" I haven't a clue where it came from, it just stole its way into my vocabulary. Others include "spoot!" "huttah!" and "hoo-ha!" Homestar fans should know what I'm talking about on the last two. Oh yeah - if anything is really awesome, it "rocks pants." 23.
Originally posted by a bunch of people The sword Xaru was talking about was probably the ninja-to, much like the samurai sword, but about half the length. The ninja sword was considerably shorter, only 24 inches, and the quality of the swords was much poorer. The reason for the poorer quality was the way they used the sword as opposed to the way the samurai used theirs. Samurai would swing their sword, severing limbs and slashing at the opponent. Ninja, on the other hand, used the sword more in a stabbing motion. To use the blade of the ninja sword effectively you would have to use a sawing motion when the blade came in contact with the opponents flesh. No, the Ninja-to was almost exactly like the samurai sword, the length being the only difference. It allowed the ninja-to to be wielded with the same speed one-handed. And this was their primary weapon. The ninja sword was nothing like the samurai sword. It was less quality because they rarely used it in a battle.
Yes, yes. I collect swords (mostly japanese, but I'm looking for a good claymore) and the ninjas did use shorter swords, but they were often straight, also. A lot of the time they painted the blades black so they (the swords, not the ninjas:p) wouldn't shine in the night. Samurai often carried shorter swords, too (wakizashi). Overall, the Orientals were just plain smarter than the Europeans, who would carry just one 40-60 pound sword. amazing

I'm often amazed at our human ability to conceive. I mean, there's so much we can't conceive but sometimes when you think about it for a while, it just comes to you for a quick instant. it's really cool. Oh, and to Adahn - I've never been sure whether animals feel emotions or not. For example: sometimes when my dog does something she knows she's not supposed to do and I see it, she cowers down and tries to stay away. I guess that's a bit more along the instinctive, but it makes me wonder somewhat.
  25. Flight would be nice, as long as I could have wings and not just....fly. Also, I've always preferred speed to strength, so that too. And super-human awareness. No sense in running really fast and dodging bullets if you don't know when to stop and go. Being really, really good with swords would be nice, too. I love swords...
