1. You want comments? I've got plenty. -First of all, where are your Magic staples? No Monster Reborn? No Change of Heart? Raigeki? x3 Mystical Space Typhoons? All you have in there are power-boost cards, and three of them are Elma! If you think you can pull off the one-turn kill combo without Marionette (and by the way, I'm sure Uppderdeck WILL change the rules so that the one-turn kill won't happen anymore), then you have serious problems, my friend. I am assuming that you left out the staples because you don't want to take up much room in your list; but dude, if that's the case, why don't you just say so? -I see that you have some pretty good arch-fiends in there. InfernalQueen is my personal favorite... but no Pandemonium? I assume that if you want arch-fiends in there, you have to have a lot (or maybe just some of them are dependant of each other; I'm not quite sure). All I do know for sure is, you did a good job throwing Sangan and Witch in there... but everybody else bunched up together (between the warriors and arch-fiends) makes it seem... cluttered. I'm not trying to bash it, but in my experience, some card themes just don't go together. -Can I suggest Dark Ruler Hades over Barrel Dragon? He only needs one tribute instead of two, and I'm guessing that with his help, the arch-fiends can negate monster effects in battle. Try to take these comments to heart, dude; I'm just trying to help.
2. Oh, I know: Rare-metal Soul. I forget its effect, but I know it does increase a monster's ATK. Q.) An unusual question, but it's all in fun. When Mai "accessorizes" Harpy Lady, which usually comes first: Rose Whip, or Cyber Shield?
3. Nobody got this one dude. Start again with a new question, please. ....Okay, I will. Q.) As part of the first demonstration in the virtual world, who did virtual Kaiba duel in "Enter the Shadow Realm?" As a bonus question, what was the opposing Deck Master's special ability? Don't double-post, please. I know it's been a while since the thread was last posted in, but the old post could have just been deleted in this case. -Solo
4. Sonic Duck's ATK is 1700... Now THAT'S not bad at all! I just can't believe they made it a common card!
5. Alright, let me ask the next question. Q.) Who was the first character to use Dark Hole, and in what story arc?
6. Let's get right back to the questioning, dudes. Unless DM chooses to pass the torch to somebody else...
7. JUDGEMENT OF ANUBIS Counter Trap Discard 1 card from your hand. Negate and destroy a Magic card activation and effect that has a [Destroy Magic/Trap cards on the Field] effect controlled by your opponent. Afterward, you can destroy 1 of your opponent's face-up Monsters on the Field and do damage to your opponent equal to that Monster's attack strength. This card has a lot of potential, but it's extremely situational. I'd say it would work best in a Burner deck, because most likely you'll want to use it to destroy your opponent's biggest, baddest monster and do a ton of LP damage. If that would be the case, then you would somehow have to try to tempt him/her into using a Harpies Feather Duster, MST, or Heavy Storm. In fact, let's look at all of the Magic cards that this card only works on: -Harpies Feather duster -Mystical Space Typhoon -Heavy Storm -De-Spell (hyeah, like anybody uses it anymore) -Magic Drain (unless it's a trap) Those are all of the ones I could find and think of; not a lot. So you're probably better off using one of them, plus counter-traps like Magic Jammer, or better yet, Imperial Order. Oh, and let me please say this: How hypocritucal it is of Upperdeck to give Anubis the "okay" to keep his name, while Hades had to change his. Hello; they're BOTH mythic gods that are related to death! Burner Deck: 5.0 Beatdown Deck: 5.0 Extra Points: 5, for keeping his name Overall: 5.5- too situational, but in the right situation, can be deadly
8.
Originally posted by Hells Fire I have a quetion. Are the other items waiting for other people to come and collet them or are they Shadi's? If they are his wouldn't that mess up the balance Shadi is trying so hard to maintain? I remember when Bakura took Pegasus's eye Shadi came from Egypt to investegate; why didn't he come when Yami took Ishizu's necklace?
Shadi owns the Millenium Key and Scales, probably because no one else has come to claim them. Though I'm not really sure if that's accurate; maybe he was meant to own them. As for the necklace, Isis (I'll say it again, I'd rather call her Isis than Ishizu) lost her powers when Kaiba changed the future that she saw; therefore, the necklace would probably only work for the pharoah now. Plus, she gave it away willingly, while Bakura took the Millennium Eye by force.
9. Wanna bet? The answer is, Kaiba's life points didn't literally get lowered to zero; he was forced to give up once Pegasus backfired his own Crush Virus on his deck, rendering the rest of Kaiba's monsters useless, and he used up his last useable monster (Saggi the Dark Clown) with Monther Reborn and it was killed by Bukori (sp?) Box. Q.) In the first virtual reality story arc, which monster did Yugi use to save him and his friends from the destruction of their flying machine?
10. Oh, I am definitely getting my hands on the Millenium Scales! They're what Shadi has besides the Millennium Key; they weigh a person's soul against a feather, and if they outweigh the feather, they get sent to... uh, oblivion, I guess. Or the Shadow Realm, either one. I just like that power, cause I'd like to judge people by their souls.... no, not really, but between all of those powers, I'd take the Scales. By the way, the Scales really are based on an ancient Egyptian myth that involves the god Osiris. He weighs the souls of the dead on a scale, and if the soul outweighs the feather, that soul can move up to the next realm, and if not, they're eaten by a monster named Amut.
11. Thank you, Shadowfire. Okay, I'll jump on the ball here and ask the next question: Q.) Name two trap cards used in the Duelist Kingdom finals that need LP costs in the real game but weren't costly at all in the anime.
12. ....I just realized that part of this is a trick question. We don't KNOW the total victories she's had, because the ones we've seen have no names (two guys in Duelist Kingdom), and the one whose name we do know is "Jean Claude..." uhh... dang, what was his last name? He's the Ninja Deck guy. she beat him twice; prior to duelist Kingdom and in Battle City. Perhaps you'd count her victory over Rex Raptor for a room on the ship on the way to duelist kingdom, but that wasn't really a duel. We can assume that she's won at least six duels in Battle City and slightly over ten in Duelist Kingdom. DANG! What is that guy's name??? Does this answer count?
13. You are correct, dude. Go ahead with the next question.
14. You forgot Dice Jar!!! And I can name both of those Dragons: Hyozanryu and Cave Dragon. Q.) Which of Joey's parents gained custody of him?
15. It's the wings, DeathBug. The wings. ^_^ ANGEL OF JUDGEMENT- SATURN Pros: -Searchable by Witch -Awesome Burn effect; works in LP gain decks/Fire Princess decks -High ATK; one of the few playable Angel types -A Light monster; can work with various Light strategies (particularly Chaos Emperor Dragon or Chaos Soldier) Cons: -0 DEF -Effect reliable on a particular Field card -Can be killed by Hades and higher attackers in battle -Kaiser Glider can suicide and live, like Jinzo It's nice to see that in the future, Angels will get more and more props, as will the Fire monsters. Most of us already have the incredibly-powerful-but-hard-to-get-onto-the-field Wingweaver, so seeing a one-Tribute Angel with an ATK that's actually higher than Airknight's is pretty awesome. However, if you really want to make this angel's effect to work, you MUST get the field card Sanctuary of The Sky. In a sense, the Gravekeepers have opened up a new strategy to the game: Field Decks. These are decks that actually revolve around Field cards like Necrovalley and Sanctuary, so the Spell card Teraforming may see play sooner than we think. What the effect basically means is, if you were to have say 2000 LP more than your opponent, you'd then sacrifice this monster when Santuary is in play, then you'd deal your opponent 2000 direct damage. It's almost like Ring of Destruction's effect without its backfire, but it's not as devastating as my favorite double-trap combo, Ring of Destruction/Barrel Behind the Door. On the other hand, Saturn's effect can work in more ways than one. Once she's in the Graveyard, you can take her and a Dark monster out to special summon a Chaos monster- Dragon or Soldier. Or, you can special summon her with Monster Reborn or another revival card, and deal more heavy damage. Perhaps her effect can be more in handy with other angel friends that also need Sanctuary of the Sky in play, but we'll just see. And yes, she can work in a Fire Princess deck, since Fire Princess also requires you to gain life points. However, don't think that this strategy is fool-proof; too much life point-gain cards will take space in your deck, and you don't want a Bad Reaction to Simochi to pop up in front of your face. So be careful. Standard Beatdown Deck: 5.0 Standard Burner Deck: 4.0 Fire Princess Deck: 8.0 Sanctuary Deck: 10 Chaos Deck: 6.0 (would get a higher score, but that one-Tribute thing gets in the way slightly) Extra Points: 4, for being called Saturn (it's my favorite planet other than Earth! ^^) Overall: 7.0- Versatile, but probably won't stay on the field long
16.
Originally posted by Alucardfire Don't single out my opinion because it simply is right. Just because you aren't as good a player or nearly experienced doesn't mean ya gotta hate. APS is a staple. Take a look at the tournament scene and how the Asian metagame is played. Nuff said. Forget negating magic with Jinzo on the field. That's just how it is. Keep your LP safe with damage control. For Breaker, the point is to make your opponent waste that triggered trap, for example a D-Ring so your other mons will stay safe. 1600 atk is fine, monsters don't have long staying power anyway. Actually, the competitive decks in the meta are staying with mainly staple trap sections of: Mirror FOrce, Waboku, CoTLD, Imperial Decree, and D-Ring. They're staples, nuff said. If they were anymore powerful they'd be broken.
Let's not turn this into a lash-out fest, people. We all have our opinions; let's just move on. Finally, I get to have my say on one of the most popular cards in the game ever: Jinzo. Pros: One Tribute; better than two Witch-able Trap-killer High ATK for a Level 6 Cons: Your Traps don't work either (unless you get the Amplifier) Easily killed by a Magic or Quick-Play Magic card Can be killed through Kaiser's suicide (Totally obvious, but I'll say it anyway) Death by higher ATK monster; name your list here Jinzo, or "The Mack Daddy" as I sometimes call him. He's the reason why every deck should keep a short list of Traps. I'll agree that having V-Lord and the Mack Daddy in the same deck is pretty overbearing, but then again, all V-Lord has to kill now are Magic cards; your opponent is screwed. The same can be said if you ever get your hands on an Amplifier, and have your Imperial Order out like "Lector" did just last weekend (forgive me for the Spoiler, those of you who haven't seen the episode. Hey, if you didn't see it, shame on you! It's the best duel yet, IMO.) Do I have a Jinzo? No, but I wouldn't mind getting one. But do I consider it staple? Yes, and no. He is Staple in a way that he can go into just about every deck; however, not everyone favors him and can win duels without him. Just ask my friend Kuro, who runs a very Mai-like deck that consists of harpies and Amazons. She kicks my tail and then dances around it without needing Jinzo. So he's not for everybody... but it certainly doesn't hurt to give him a try. As for his looks, very good! He almost looks like a robotic genie, and an evil one! I didn't notice how detailed his mouth piece was until I finally saw its side view on TV. How I love it!!! And doesn't the Amplifier make you wish you could use it the same way Espa Roba did; powering up your Jinzo while doing its other effect? Heh. So the bottom line is this: Jinzo, the Mack Daddy, has truly earned his popularity; more so than Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Both of them can kick Jinzo's metal butt, but odds are they won't because they need help getting on the field. And I pray I never see the day when my opponent actually pulls off the Jinzo/Amplifier/IO effect on me; I will surrender right then and there. ...Or I'll cry; either one. Machine Decks: solid 10 (just imagine trying him with Limiter Removal!) Dark Decks: 8-10 Beatdown Decks: 5-10 (all depending on what kind of duelist needs him) Burner Decks: 5-10 (same deal) Looks: 10 Overall: 9.5 (I'd give him a perfect 10, but like someone said earlier, not all monsters are perfect) *And on a final note, I'll never get the thought out of my head of hearing Jinzo's voice with a rough Southern accent! ^_^;;;
17. All accept one: Archfiend Soldier (normal monster). I had someone ask me a good question concerning Skill Drain and Jinzo. Skill Drain is a continuous trap card that makes you pay 1000 LP, in order to negate the effect of a monster and (maybe) destroy it. Since Jinzo kills traps, would these two destroy each other, or can one survive when played at a certain time?
18. What do you mean by DDV, kakashi?
19. It's been a while since we had a new question, so could you please give us the answer and start anew, shadowfire?
20. Elma. Eruma. Whatever you wanna call it, it has its perks that's for sure. I think it was created for combos such as Gearfried/MM, and Royal Magical Library. Like the Magical Scientist, it's for those who want alternate ways to win besides the classic beatdown. There's nothing wrong with that, really; as long as they don't get played out like hit songs. I personally like it, only because it's got a Butterfly theme. I like butterlfies. ^^; I'd like to ask a question concerning Solomon's Lawbook. It's only effect says, "Skip your own Standby Phase." Now on the surface, it doesn't look like it can do much, but consider all of those continuous trap or magic cards that require you to pay life points to keep them alive, like Mirror Wall. If you were to activate Solomon's Lawbook, does that mean you can get a Mirror Wall (or other trap/spell card) effect for a free turn?
21. I would like to say that Breaker really does have a lot of potential, potential that DeathBug has already pointed out, but I'm very iffy about every monster with spell counters. I'd say that the most powerful spell-counter monster right now is Magical Marionette, who could destroy Breaker with or without a spell counter, and she's just gonna get scarier once people start using the Magical Marionette + Gearfried + Dagger of Butterflies [Eruma] combo within a couple months, but even she has her weaknesses. To end any and all confusion for those who don't yet know, spell counters do NOT act as anti-Spell/Trap effects. Meaning, if your opponent were to play an MST, you could put a spell counter on your monster like MM, but the MST effect would still work. Therefore, all spell-counter monsters are vulnerable to cards like Mirror Force, Dark Hole and Raigeki. All those power-ups, and then "flop." How sad.... Oh, let me just say that Breaker is thus far the absolute most beautiful Spellcaster to ever grace my eyes!!! I wish Dark Magician looked just as cool as this guy, and I'm sure Yugi will use him eventually. Beatdown Deck: 9.5 (I wouldn't call him staple, but hey who doesn't want an automatic 1900-attacking level 4 monster?) Spellcaster/Dark Deck: 10 Burner Deck: 5-7, depending on how you use him Bonus Points: 10, for looks Overall: 8 out of 10 (Spell-Counter Monsters in general are getting a 5.5 score for me, cause I think their effects are useful, but very decieving)
22. Keeping score here: 1. Lesser Fiend 2. Dark Ruler ha des 3. Yata Garasu 4. Helpoemer 5. Raigeki 6. Monster Reborn 7. Ominous Fortunetelling 8. Delinquent Duo 9. Painful Choice 10. Spear Cretin 11. Winged Minion 12. Archfiend Soldier 13. Dark Necrofear 14. Metamorphosis 15. Wall of Illusion 16. Waboku 17. Graceful Charity 18. Mirror Force 19. Spirit Reaper 20. Pot of Greed Only 20 more cards to go, and we've got a 40-card deck, people! :-D
23. Shadowfire, you take the next question.
24. Okay, first of all I absolutely LOVE the name of your deck! I'm giving you bonus points for that. My only suggestions are these: 1.) Destruction Ring can hurt you as well as help you, so if you really want to keep it, I'd suggest taking out another card (like an equip card or something) and add Barrel Behind the Door for extra direct damage. 2.) Add at least one Gaia Power; since most of your monsters are earth-based, Gaia works wonders where as United We Stand is vulnerable to card destruction (meaning, you lose it as soon as you lose one monster, whereas Gaia is a power-up that doesn't cling on to any specific monster). These are just suggestions, though- overall, I give it a solid 9 out of 10 (remember, bonus points went to the deck's name ^^)
25. Aww, you took my suggestion, Tom! ^_^ Well, I'm gonna continue this: 3. Yata-Garasu Yeah, I should have said a more staple card like Monster Reborn, but I honestly think that Yata has potential in just about any deck. You will come to the situation where you will have your opponent mercilessly trapped with no monster on the field and nothing good enough in the magic/trap zone to stop Yata's attack, so you'd just go for it. I know I reach this situation almost all the time, so I think Yata has what it takes to be a superb monster. The only problem with it is once he/she's back in your hand, what's going to save you from a direct attack? Waboku, maybe? ...I guess that's next on the list. :-P
