1. Problem #1: Too many Tribute Monsters. Especially get rid of the Level 7 and up ones, but save Red-Eyes if you really wanna make B. Skull Dragon work. Also, take out Time Wizard and add Sangan. Problem #2: Not enough Harpy Ladies. If you're making a harpy or semi-harpy deck, you MUST have 3 copies of Harpy Lady, Elegant Egotist, and Harpy Lady Sisters. And unless it can work for you, please take out Harpies Pet Dragon. Problem #3: Limit your traps. Jinzo may not be a big daddy at your place, but too many traps is a problem either way. Take out Robbin Goblin, the Enchanted Javelins, and Acid Trap Hole. In their place, add at least one more Waboku. Problem #4: Too many magic cards that don't fit your theme. Please take out the De-Spells, Ekibyo Drakmord, Dian Keatos, the extra Change of Heart, Horn of Light, and Black Pendant. You're probably wondering why I'm doing this- well, the answer is simple, my friend: your extra cards and badly-timed magic and trap cards will give you a bad hand sooner or later. You could draw a Black Pendant or something when you really need a monster. For better power-up effects, try a Field magic card like Rising Air Current (works only for Wind monsters). And, add Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity, and Raigeki if you can.
2. Okay, Tom, I can understand you're upset, but PLEASE stop putting these rants or replies in the board, when you should be putting them in the Message boxes of certain people you want to "chat" with. If you don't then we're going way off topic of this original topic's subject matter, and that would be bad. I know, I'm saying all of this in the subject box too, but this is probably the only place you'll find it. Please, Altron, Tom, anybody else who want to duke it out verbally, keep these things out of the boards, before Solo bans you guys. I'm only saying this as a friend... Darn! He beat me to it. Sorry, Solo. :-P
3. Hold on, hold on. There's no reason to start talking nasty... Stuff like this is always argumental; I used to not get how MST or Haroies Feather duster can't destroy traps like IO or Waboku too. But I've learned, and I'm all the wiser now. Leave the poor "n00bs" alone. My only question is, can Bait Doll's effect kill Imperial Order? (Bait Doll's effect says that it targets one face down card, and if it's a trap, it's negated and destroyed ONLY if the timing of its activation is wrong.)
4. You're both right, but since lumberjack got the official question, he goes next. Sorry, Otogi-san.
5. He's made out of a furturistic metal that doesn't rust. I forget what Roba called it, but I'm guessing it was "titanium" something. If that answer counts, I'll make the next one. Q.) This question might be a little tricky, so let me see if I can word it right. In the duel between Joey and Duke Develin, all of the cards used in that duel had one thing in common with each other. In fact, the same connection can be made with the monster that was featured on the cover of the wrapping paper from which the cards were from. What did those cards have on common, and for a bonus question, what was the monster on that cover?
6. Okay, in case you guys don't know, the one who gets the right answer automatically gets to ask the next question. That way, the rest of us won't be hanging. (Sorry if I sound rude)
7. A "Shadow Ghoul" deck would definitely abuse the "useless" cards, plus cards like "Cheerful Coffin" or even "Graceful Charity." The idea is to get as many monsters in the grave as you can, just to power up Shadow Ghoul. Let me try to list the deck... Non-Tribute Monsters: x1 Sangan x1 Witch of The Black Forest x3 Cannon Soldier x3 Skull Servant x3 Fire Sorcerer (unless the effect makes you remove cards from play; if it does, this wouldn't go here) (And for the rest, I guess any monster you want to toss to the grave) Tribute Monsters: x3 Shadow Ghoul Magic Cards: x1 Monster Reborn x1 Raigeki x3 Mystical Space Typhoon x1 Harpies Feather Duster x1 Graceful Charity x1 Pot of Greed x3 The Cheerful Coffin x1 Dark Hole x1 Final Destiny x1 Card Destruction Traps: x3 Waboku x1 7 Tools of The Bandit x1 Imperial Order x2 Solemn Wishes
8. Okay, this may be a little crazy, but I?m starting to get an idea for new Penguin-themed cards; this is based on the idea of there being cards like ?Penguin Soldier? and ?Penguin Knight.? I thought, why not go a little further? KAISER PENGUIN Level 5 Water Warrior/Effect ATK 1900 DEF 1200 Effect: ?You may Special Summon one Monster with the name ?Penguin? in it from your hand to the field in either face-up Attack position or face-down Defense position each time this monster does battle damage to your opponent. In addition, increase this Monster?s ATK and DEF by 200 points for every face-up Monster on the field with the name ?Penguin? in it.? KAMIKAZE (or DIVE-BOMBING) PENGUIN Level 4 Wind Warrior/Effect ATK 800 DEF 1800 Effect: ?When this monster attacks an opponent?s Monster whose ATK is higher than this Monster?s ATK points, both monsters are destroyed. In addition, the opponent takes the battle damage instead of this Monster?s controller.? PENGUIN SPEAR-THROWERS Level 3 Water Warrior/Effect ATK 200 DEF 500 Effect: FLIP: Destroy one card on your opponent?s side of the field. PENGUIN CENTURIANS Level 4 Water Warrior/Effect ATK: 2000 DEF: 100 Effect: ?If ?Kaiser Penguin? is not face-up on the field, the ATK and DEF stats of this Monster are reversed.? PALACE OF THE PENGUINS Continuous Magic/Spell Card Effect: ?As long as this card remains face up on the field, all Monsters on your side of the field with the name ?Penguin? in it, regardless of their positions, can negate the effect of one Monster card during each of your Standby Phases.?
9. I KNOW WHO IT IS!!! ...At least I think I know. The manga explains that in Egypt, some priests tried to control "Kas," or people who represented a card monster's spirit or something. That girl was the Ka of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
10. Actually, Takuya, Upstart Goblin CAN be useful for you if you run a "Bad Reaction to Simochi" deck. You draw a card, your opponent loses 100 life points. And, the reason why some people put cards like Jar of Greed and Upstart Goblin in their decks is simply this: Exodia. Or, any other card combo that they use to win the game as soon as possible. so you see, those cards can be useful if you use them in a certain way. It's just as Kakashi said; you just have to look deeper into them for their usefulness.
11. I believe that is correct, Tom. You get to ask the next question.
12. Awesome, dude! Oh, ShadowLord, I forgot to tell you to add at least 3 Mystical space Typhoons. They're actually very important; Heavy Storm (maybe) and Harpies Feather Duster are needed as well.
13. I'll tell you which ones you already have there that you can keep, plus add a few: -Relinquished (add 2) -Sonic Bird (add 2) -Penguin Soldier (maybe he'd be better suited in a Side deck) -2 Harpies Brother (add 1) -Hayabusa Knight (He's a wind monster, right?) -Monster Reborn -Fissure -Dark Snake syndrome (add 2) -Black Illusion Ritual (add 2) -Pot of Greed -Dark Hole -Waboku (add 1) -Solemn Wishes (add 1) Now here, again, are those that I think you should add (this is entirely your choice; if you don't like my suggestions, you don't have to keep them) -Yata-Garasu -Sangan -Witch of the Black Forest -2 Twin Headed Wolf -Dark Ruler Ha Des -Raigeki -3 Rain of Mercy -Graceful Charity -2 Rising Air Current -2 Burning Land (only if necessary) -Mirror Force -Ring of Destruction -Barrel Behind the Door -DNA Surgery (in case you need more fiends to work out the Twin Headed Wolf and Hades effects)
14. Okay, let me explain a few things that you have, and I'll start by explaining Bad Reaction to Simochi. Bad Reaction is a Continuous Trap card that does damage to your opponent equal to any LP gain he/she tries to make. For example, say you have Bad Reaction in play, and you then activate the Magic card Rain of Mercy. Rain of Mercy increases both players' life points by 1000. But with Bad Reaction, you gain 1000 life points, and your opponent loses 1000 life points. But you'd have to keep your trap card from being destroyed; hence, if you try this strategy, be sure to pack 3 Bad Reactions. That also goes for your Dark Snake Syndrome. As for your monsters, they're all mixed up because they're different types and different attributes. A beginner, in my opinion, must build a deck with monsters that work together; one type, or one sttribute, and any monster out there that you would consider staple; i.e., Yata-Garasu, or Dark Ruler Ha Des. Now I see you have Relinquished; that'a a good start. But you need three of him, three Black Illusion Ritual cards, and 3 Sonic Birds, just to make sure you get your ritual magic cards (Sonic Bird allows you to draw from your deck a ritual magic card as soon as it's summoned- normal or flipped summoned only, I think). Now as for your other monsters, I'd say you should bring in other Wind-Attributed monsters- you already have 2 Harpies Brothers, make it 3. The reason why I say this, is because if you want your wind monsters to be strong, throw in 2 Rising Air Current field magic cards; it boosts their ATK by 500, and decreases their DEF by 400 (the trick will be to keep them from going into defense). Take out the tribute monsters Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Labyrinth Wall. For one thing, Tribute monsters are a chore to get out (that's why I have Change of Heart in my deck; to tribute summon with an opponent's monster instead of one of mine). Only get tribute monsters that will work for you in a theme, like Dark Ruler Ha Des (he and any other fiend you might have will negate the effect of monsters they attack), or Airknight Parshath (he's a Light/Fairy with a Trample effect, and the Trample effect comes with a bonus "Draw 1 card" effect). I hope you can see whree I'm going with this. The best thing a newbie can do for him or herself is just to start with a theme. If it doesn't work for you, then that's okay. Just keep editing and re-building your deck until something works for you. But like I said, mixed sub-type decks don't usually work unless a duelist is comfortable enough to make it work. Newbies usually aren't so lucky to pull this off as "veterans" are, but hey, you might just surprise us. :) I hope all these tipes helped. I do my best.
15. I'd go on and on and on about you picking a theme and sticking to it, as far as monsters go, but I'm sure you've heard it before. What I really want to talk about are your magic/spell and trap cards. It looks like you're trying to make a "sickness" theme with Dark Snake Syndrome. If that's what you want to do, then use more than one DSS, and if you want, you can try to squeeze in Bad Reaction to Simochi/ Rain of Mercy if you want.
16. Let's see...... Can they not be in order? 'Cause I'm gonna just do this from memory. Jam Defender Magical Cylinder De-Fusion (unless it's a magic card) Spellbinding Circle Those are all the ones I can remember...
17. The only thing that worries me about the new sets that come out is knowing that there are players out there who wanna toss away all their older cards for the new ones, cause they think they're better. I remember when somebody some time ago made a list of cards used in his "Clown Control" deck, and not too long afterwards, EVERYBODY seemed to have this deck. Originality is what makes this game great, and every new set has the potential to come out with original decks, but some people just play them out like a radio would play out the latest hit 'till we get sick of it. As much as I would like to see Union decks and Dark Magician decks (which have had a long time coming), I don't wanna see JUST these decks being played. I have a friend that has a standard Beatdown with a lot of cards that came out from the first set, and it's still pretty good. I guess that's what Altron Gundam was trying to say; while there are still some duelists who stick to their guns, some of them just want to be tougher and "more new," and they're the ones that play out the new decks.
18. I'd like to see Cheerful Coffin have more play; I've got a ton of them! Anyway, I have a similar strategy. I tried pulling off something like this in a duel last night, but it went a little awry. Dark Hole + Graceful Charity [discarding powerful monster] + Monster Reborn/Powerful Monster + Yata-Garasu Actually, what went awry was that my opponent did a similar thing earlier in the game. So he was sort of ahead of me, plus he Magic-Jammed my Dark Hole. Eh well.
19. YES! Finally, Amazon Archer props. If it were up to me, I'd have my deck revolve around her, but sadly, that could only work in a dominant Amazon deck. I'd like to see the Archer get more play, 'cause you'd all be surprised at just how much play she can see! And how much damage she can dish out! [I know this isn't really a "Rate My Deck" post, but I had to say something.]
20. .....I said that? I don't remember me saying it. Oh well. :-p
21.
Originally posted by Alexander Um, bad idea with Aqua Madoor as an aqua blocker. It's a good Water-based defender, but once Umiiruka is out, his stats go to 1700/1600....not too impressive. Generally, I use blockers with a different elemental type than my main attack force for that reason. Kunai with Chain and Magic Metal Force are both equip traps. I would say 1 Legendary Fisherman, and two fisherbeasts. (Aren't those 2400 Attack? Vicous!) Plus, isn't the Legendary fisherman impossible to attack with Umi out? If he's your only monster, you're opponent CAN'T ATTACK AT ALL.
I've heard elsewhere that if you have a Legendary Fisherman out, and Umi or Legendary Ocean is out, and you have no other monsters, then your opponent can attack you directly. Oh, wait. I thought that quote was on the last page, but it was the first. It was probably corrected by now. Sorry.
Originally posted by Digital Monster This is the highly religious people thinking all mentioning of Magic is evil again. They've changed 'Magic Cards' to 'Spell Cards'. Spell counters are the same as the normal magic counters, but with the name change, I think.
Actually, I heard that Upperdeck changed it because of a fued going on between them and the guys who made Magic: The Gathering. The Magic dudes got miffed with Upperdeck, and claimed that they weren't being "original" with the term Magic card. So they changed it to settle the matter. 22. Grand Behemoth Level- 8 Attribute- Dark Type- Fiend/Effect ATK- 0 DEF- 0 Effect: This monster cannot be attacked by anything other than a Spellcaster-Type Monster. If there is a face-up Spellcaster-Type Monster on either your or your opponent's side of the field, the ATK and DEF of this monster copies that of the highest attacking Spellcaster, until that Spellcaster is removed from the field. This monster's ATK and DEF can copy another face-up Spellcaster-Type monster, but after your following Standby Phase. When this monster gains the ATK and DEF of another monster, this monster may attack your opponent's life points directly. Description: A giant black dragon, with two heads- each has four green eyes and bull horns on each forehead. He's scaly, but has long black fur that starts as hair on his head and then trinkles down his spine, all the way to his tail end and comes out in a bulb, like a lion's tail. He also has massive, black bat-like wings which are slightly torn. He's giving off a tremendous roar, as if he's ready to attack. ...Scary, isn't it?
23. I would keep Waboku. First of all, it might come to a point where you won't have any monsters, and you'll need it to keep your life points safe. Imperial Order is a nice card, but it takes away 500 of your LP per standby phase if you choose to keep it up; eventually, it'll be too costly for you. And about Ring of Destruction, it's a good card to use to destroy your opponent's most powerful monster, but at the same time it can kill you unless you have Barrel Behind the Door or something like that.

Ooo... That's a lotta traps and tribute monsters; I'd drop some of them, only because they'll take up too much room in your hand, plus you have to beware of Jinzo. One tribute monster I'd keep would be Summoned Skull, since you don't have a targeted theme here.

I'd drop the Red-Eyes, and perhaps add a second Blue-Eyes only if you want to get the upcoming Paladin of White Dragon from "Magician's Force." It's a ritual level 4 monster that will let you tribute it and it alone for a Blue-Eyes (though it's can't attack on the same turn it's summoned). It's an Ultra-Rare, but on the upside, its ritual card White Dragon Ritual is a common. 2.) Some of your cards are Wind types, so you might want to drop some of the dragon power-ups for a Rising Air Current or two. On the subject, you might want to take out some of your non-dragon monsters and add 2 more Cave Dragons, or Gray Wings. 3.) I'm really, really, really confused here! Luster Dragon is a Tribute Monster? On a Magician's Force spoiler page on Pojo, it's coming out in that new set as a level 4 monster. Are there 2 Luster Dragons then? (BTW, this LD I'm talking about is a Wind attributed dragon, too) 4.) If you really want to do some direct dragon damage, add some more Dragon's Gunfire and Stamping Destruction cards, plus try this one on for size: "Dragon Rage," a common Trap card that gives dragons trample effects.
