I liked both the book and the movie, but after the second or third Dune book, they get pretty crappy, or so I'm told. Maybe not. In any case, I like the sci-fi channel version better simply because it has better special effects and such. It's hard to understand the movie unless you've read the first three books, because it kind of jumps right in at the end of Dune: Messiah. Over all, I thought Children of Dune followed the storyline almost flawlessly, including almost all of the details of the book.
This is my first time on anything here, so tell me if I am missing a few (or a lot of) spots. Actually, can you explain to me how these "RPG's" are supposed to work?
Ok, well, this is where you recruit people for an Role Play that happens in the adventure arena. You sign up using the sign up I put in my post, and say what the character you create is doing when I put the first post in the Adventure Arena. If you have any specific questions, PM me. Also, i would suggest that you look at some of the other threads in the Adventure Arena--that will give you a good idea of how they work. Also, any of your scores can be zero. Not a great idea for some scores, though. Hope the mods won't mind that I took care of it. ;)

Dondar went picking through the remains of his home, tears stinging his eyes. He went to the spot where his room used to be, picking through his trashed possesions. He turned away slowly, looking out upon the desolate wreckage that was Blackthorn City. As he started to walk away from his hometown, Dondar's Arcanine came up to him, holding something in its teeth. "What'cha got there, boy?" Dondar asked, reaching down to get whatever he had. He held up a picture, unbroken, of Dondar and his parents, with his brother standing behind them. He smiled, put the picture in his bag, and began walking away. He put his growlithe back in its pokeball, and brought out his skarmory. "To Mauville!" he told it, mounting. ******************************************************** Dondar landed directly in front of the pokecenter, hopping off of his skarmory and returning it to its pokeball. He went through the town, picking out some food and supplies so he could live while winning enough money to buy a permanent residence. Of course, before he did that, he would have to kill the Nerajitgita. As he walked along the streets, he felt the wind behind him increase in volume and strength. He turned around and saw the copter landing as an officer ran towards him. " Dondar? Dondar Karthas?" she asked him, walking forward. "Yeah? Do you need something?" he asked, staring at her. "Dondar, your presence has been requested at the station. Please coem with me." "Okay." Dondar said, climbing into the helicopter, "but I'd like an explanation in time." "In time." she said, and refused to speak anymore.

I'm glad to be in this.....you always make the best RP's. The one I'm thinking of I won't mention because I'm embarassed by it. :haha: Name: Dalyk Age: 17 Gender: Male Description: About 6 feet tall, he has long, thick, black hair with a white flash going through the center of his mane right above his dark brown eyes. He typically wears black leathers under a blood red cloak. He carries a longbow across his back along with a quiver of arrows. Personality: Dalyk is fairly friendly, and hates to be left out of anything. He feels a great need to belong in a group, but tries to act like a loner. He gets angry very easily, though. Weapons: Longbow and arrows, as well as dagger hidden in his right boot. Magic Type: Spell Caster Flamebolt: Fires a bolt of fire from his fingertips. Dalyk can control the size of it. Energy Sphere: Creates up to 4 energy balls which he hurls with his will. Wall: Creates a wall of force in front of him which can only be broken by relatively powerful counter-spells. Teleport: Instantly transports Dalyk to a place that he can visualize clearly. Bio: Dalyk grew up in a small town called Mith, a town ruled by two warring factions. Dalyk's parents were pitted against each other in the battles. His father was a spell caster and his mother was a counter-spellcaster for the other faction. As corny as it sounds, when they couldn't defeat each other, the fell in love and moved to Gnarwood to raise their son in peace.(As corny as that is). When Dalyk turned twelve, he and his family joined the GR, since they resented the self imposed rule of the Koma. Dalyk learned from his parents the art of spell casting. They taught him to be careful with his magic, to not cause wanton harm.

Name: Dondar Gender: Male Age: 18 Appearance: Dondar is tall, around 6 foot, with steely blue eyes. He has thick brown hair with long bangs that always get in his eyes. He usually wears a camo shirt that says "Ha! Now you can't see me!". Pokemon: Arcanine, Ninetales, Raichu, Scyther, Skarmory, Abra Personality: Dondar is very quiet, but not unfriendly. He doesn't trust people very much, though. He gets angry very easily, and when he gets angry, heads roll. Almost always that's a figure of speech..... Bio: Dondar grew up with a fairly normal family. He had two parents and an older brother named Jeremy. They lived in Blackthorn City as breeders. Since both of his parents bred, they were often very busy and had little time to be with Dondar. Because of this, Dondar usually spent alot of time with his brother. When he turned 12, Dondar's parents gave him his first pokemon, a growlithe. Since then, he has been traveling the world trying to become the best trainer. When he heard about what had happened to his hometown, Dondar came back as fast as he could. When he got there, he found that his parents had been killed by the ice storm. From that point forward, Dondar was determined to exact revenge upon his parents murderers. But first, he went to seek out his older brother. This looks pretty good.....be sure to PM with any changes I should make!

Would you go back in time to change an event?
Lord Rannos replied to Panda's topic in General Discussion
For the most part, I wouldn't want to change anything. There is, however, one thing that I almost want to change. My family's dog died a year or two back, because I didn't watch him and our gate was open. He got hit by a car, and I've always felt that itwas my fault. If I changed that, though, then we wouldn't have gotten our current puppy, who I love more than anything. To chnge time is a dangerous thing--it may have unforseen consequences. It's a paradox, so I think it's better not to mess with it if it's possible. -
Well.....I tried this before, and now I'm doin it again. Hopefully with better results! By the way, you have to go back about 80 posts to find the old one, so I think this is a good time to try again. The land of Varutyrm.....endless fields and prosperity reigns.....Then a shadow falls across the land, enveloping it in an eternal shade of Twilight. A great Citadel was erected in the center of the land, spewing forth monsters, demons, and other creatures of the night. Everything within miles of the Citadel died, as if a wave of plague came from their very stones. Plants withered and died, water became poisoned; even insects couldn?t survive. The very air that the villagers breathed was killing them. The demons of the Tower, as it came to be called, ransacked villages and enslaved men. The lord of Varutyrm, Taris, attempted to protect his villages; but his forces were always overwhelmed. Eventually, the Evil?s, as he was called, forces launched an attack on Taris? castle. Taris was hunted down and trapped in his own throne room. He was killed, eventually, but he left a memento behind. He had a son, bearing the mark of the Dragon upon his right forearm. This son was imbued with strength above the average human's, enough that he could lead Varutyrm against the Evil. And so he was sent to a far away kingdom to be raised in protection, that one day he may rise up against the Evil. This was not the only measure that Taris took; he also gave 5 other babies that were soon to be born power above humans, that they may follow the Fated One against the Evil. As a final measure, he arranged that these 6 Fated Ones should, at sometime in their lives, meet. Whether they were to unite or not, however, could not be influenced. In Varutyrm, there arose a rebellion. They opposed the demons, saving villagers whenever possible, but remain underground. Ok, so here's what I need: Name: Age: Weapon(s): Nothing modern--mostly pointy stuff. Appearance: Stats: You get 25 points for abilities, distributed how you like. Strength: How strong you are Speed: How fast you are Martial Arts: Your hand to hand fighting skills. Weapons: How good you are with weapons. Health: How long it takes for you to be killed, starts at 3. Magic: Your skill in magic. Will determine how strong of spells you can cast. Bio: And anything else that you think is important. For battle, anyone with the higher skill rating will win, provided that no imagination is used. Turning a Martial Arts battle to Weapons could save you. Magic requires both verbal components and specified hand movements. Your character will be able to remember all of their spells. Magic List: Level One: Missle Finger: Fire mini magical missles from your fingers. 1 damage. Spark: Discharges a spark that can light a fire, or cause minor irritation to a human. Minor Heal: Heals one health level. Summon Animal: Summons a small animal to perform a simple task. Level Two: Flame: Fires a ball of flame from your palm, dealing 2 health damage. Level Two Healing: Heals two damage. Skill: Boosts a character's Martial Arts and Weapons scores by 2. Light: Creates an orb of light that illuinates like a torch. Level Three: Strengthen: Raises your strength by three. Shock: Delivers a shock to a person when they are touched. 3 damage. Level Three Healing: Heals three damage Flash: Creates a blinding flash in front of one person's eyes. Level Four: Fireball: Creates a raging ball of flame that explodes upon impact. 4 damage. Lightning Bolt: Hits a target and anyone within 5 feet of the target with a 3 damage bolt of electricity. Max Healing: Heals 5 damage. Perfection: Raises all stats by 3, requires 5 minutes of intense and unbroken concentration. Everyone is encouraged to create their own spells--especially for magic above level four. NO NEW HEALING SPELLS. You get 2 spells of your level, and 2 more spells under your spell level. If you hav any suggestions for how this should be run, please include them in your post or PM me. I will post my character after a couple people post. By the way, we need the 5 Lesser Fated Ones, I'm the son of Taris, and if someone really wants to, then they can be The Evil. If you have another original idea for a character, PM me, and we'll see. I'll post my character right after a couple of other people have signed up.

Rannos ran towards the giant Nteino demon. It stood in front of a bush, apparantly guarding something. Rannos caught a glimpse of it as the demon braced itself to his charge. An egg! he thought She probably hopes to save that one if we destroy all of the others. "Guys! Take care of the rest of the eggs. Godzilla, lets squash this demon." Godzilla roared and ran toward her, arms raised. Myork smiled and activated her amulet, knocking down Godzilla. "Crap! This might be harder than I thought......" Rannos muttered, leaping back under an onslaught of knives. Rannos ran straight forward, trying to bait the demon into using her amulet again. She fell for it, firing an energy beam at Rannos. He ducke under it, coming up to try to attack Myork. She had also seen this coming, however, and stabbed his shoulder with one of her daggers. Rannos was sent reeling back, the knife still embedded into his shoulder. He backed up against a tree, letting out a stream of curses. Myork slashed the air in front of her, and let out a hissing laugh, waiting for the next attack. OOC: AnonymousSource, that sort of thing would probably be better said in PM format. Not to be nagging. ;)

Name: Dondar Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 25 Appearance: Weapon: Draerwindle- A long, black staff with what appears to be a crosshilt atop it--followed by a hilt inthe shape of a dagon. The staff is used as a scabbard for a thin, razor-sharp sword passed down through his family for generations. Techniques: Summon Elemental-Summons one elemental (Earth, fire, wind, water) to fight for him. Using this requires all of his concentration--he can do no more than slowly move while sustaing the spell. Can only be cast if the element of the summoned elemental is at hand. Dragonflame- Using Draerwindle, he causes a thin stream of flame from its tip. Mediation- Closes his mind to all things--except for his magic. He often uses this before he sleeps to center himself--but for battle purposes, it creates a psychic shield around him; blocking all but the strongest attacks. Mission: He fights for the good of the kingdom--and now against the king so that the kingdom doesn't fall into chaos. Personality: Dondar is very serious--but not really cold or bitter. He is jovial in times of celebration; which have recently been few and far between. Bio: Dondar grew up in one of the greatest cities in the kingdom (Dunno what that would be in FF12, but....) with his family being an unnoficial guard. They would infiltrate thieves hideouts and kill them. The traveled the kingdom thus, changing aliases as the went along. Because they do this, they are greatly respected. This lifestyle changed when the King's guard slaughtered his family for their vigilante missions. Dondar barely got away--bearing his father's sword. Stats Strength: 10 Defense: 9 Speed: 7 Intelligence: 11 Magic: 13

"I'm touched by your trust," Rannos said sarcastically, "You two go ahead, I'll bring up the rear." He took the potions and followed after them, keeping an eye out for anything paranormal. Then again, everything was considered normal in his line of work. Perhaps "unfriendly" is a better way to say it. Rannos looked ahead, startled to see that they were almost out of his sight. Shouldn't get lost in thought so often....he thought as he trailed the flag of red betraying Superman.......or hopefully the correct Superman, there could be a couple. He was just catching up to them when Rannos saw the glint of fire in a nearby tree top. "DUCK!" he screaed at robert, as a robed man threw what seemed to be a fireball straight towards the Man of Steel. Robert and Superman dived to one side just in time to escape getting fried. "Keep on going! I'll take care of this freak." he said, tossing his potions to Robert. Turning to the robed man, he muttered," time to die, mage boy...." He leaped, grabbing a fairly low tree branch and swinging up and driving both feet into his side ad knocking him off of the branch. "Hello! My name is Rannos; and these are my feet!" The mage fell towards the ground, but quickly righted himself and landed softly. Rannos dove down towards him, fists first. The mage danced back and hurled a bolt of lightning at him. Searing pain lanced through Rannos's body as he struggled to rise, drawing his stake. "No matter what you are.....a stake in the heart oughta do it." he said as he lunged forward, driving the stake into the mage's heart."Guess he won't turn to dust, though." Rannos started to wipe the stake upon his cloak, thought better of it, and donned it instead. "I've always wanted one of these....." He wiped the stake on the mages clothes, pocketed it, and tried to find a trace of Robert's passage.

Or, more specifically, Knuckles banner. I just want a new one. I want it to look alot like my avitar, only bigger. Like.....Knuckles on the left, and Lord Rannos above a picture of the Master Emerald on the right. The background should be blue, and Lord Rannos should be red in color. Very picky, I know, but that's what I want. Please help me out, or else I zap you, and here is my animated smiley to prove it. :modrod: :D

Sign Up Flooding Darkness [pg13 for violence and other possibilities]
Lord Rannos replied to Muad'Dib's topic in Theater
WHEE! Another D&D RPs...I love these....EDIT: Made a few changes....abd I hope that we can multi class....you didn't specify. Name: Rannos Race: Drow Gender: male Age: 22 Appearance: He is about 5'6" tall, with black skin and white hair. He has dark blue eyes, almost black. He commonly wears black, with a hooded cloak designed and enchanted by his master to keep his face shadowed. Persona/mannerisms: He's fairly quiet, and never says more than is necessary, probably because many shun him for being a drow. He gives trust sparingly and not easily. Like many elves, he also will hold a grudge against one who has wronged him and not repented. Class:Sorcerer/Fighter Bio: Rannos was raised among humans, by his adopted human mother. His father had been killed before his own eyes in a magical dule by the arch mage Zoc`nar, and his mother hadn't been seen for years. Since then, he has been out for revenge upon his fathers killer. He trained himself in various battle techniques to help him with his revenge, until strange things began happening around him. Things that he couldn't control......things that were almost magical. Such thing happened one day, while he was being robbed by a human, he caused a nearby barrel to fall on his assailant, thereby thwarting the attempt. A passing wizard saw this, and recognized the odd occurance to be magic. Seeing that this magic, if left uncontrolled, could become dangerous, he tutored Rannos on how to control it. Since then, Rannos has been perfecting his magical abilities and plotting his revenge against Zoc`nar. Also, he worships Lolth (goddess of spiders and Drow in general) -
I mean that I right click on a picture, and there is an option called properties where it lists the html and such of the picture. That's where I see that the address is Otaku Boards, and I can never see those pictures.

Rannos ran threw the alleyway, looking for some one to feed upon. He stopped and shook his head. Wait...what am I doing? I'm so hungry....and some instinct is telling me to hunt humans.... He closed his eyes for a moment, and when he opened them he knew what had happened, and he began to hunt. He started down the alley, looking for drunks or hommeless people who would be easier to feed upon....unable to find any un-mauled, he went out into the open streets, where he saw small demons and other things terrorizing the town. "Well....this is an interesting turn of events....." he commented. Rannos saw a middleaged woman running away screaming from a band of pirates. Immediately, he leaped after her, soon runninng her down. He twisted her neck to break it, then lowered his teeth into her neck. Rannos had just begun to feed when he was knoced aside by something. He landed on his side but rolled into a crouch. From there, he saw that it was another vampire that knocked him away. He sprang forward, pushing away the other vampire and shoving both of his fist into its chest. Rannos used his momentum to push himself to his feet again, and pulled out the stake that he always had with him, typically hidden. Never would Rannos believe that crap about the vampires not being out on Halloween. As the other vamp rose, he ran forward, catching the vamp in a bear hug with his left arm and forcing the stake into his heart with the other. He stood there, looking at the pile o f dust for a moment, then turned back to his kill. He drained her, and decided to find a safe perch where he could survey the action.

I didn't mean attatchments. I meant like the banner people put in their signatures. They show up as red X. I've encountered similar problems on other boards, too.
-
I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, but I discovered something. I can't see other people's banners sometimes. I check the properties of the picture, and they are all hosted by Otaku Boards. When I see a banner that is hosted somewhere else (Like image stash) I can see it fine. Is this a normal problem, or is my computer just weird? Also, I can see my banner which is hosted by Otaku Boards.

OOC: I'm baaaack......please, hold your applause. Rannos and Z were heading out from Rannos's house at about 5:00 (they always started pretty early), staring with the one directly to their left so that they could curve around the culdesac and save time. They made good progress, there weren't many kids in his neighborhood. Sfter they had been going for a while, Rannos started getting really hungry..... "God.....I should have had dinner before coming out here....I'm starving." Rannos muttered. " Eat some of your candy if you're hungry." Z told him, rolling his eyes. Rannos began slowly, chewing a few mini candy bars, but eventually began wolfing down all of his goodies. "Take it easy or else you won't have any for later." Z advised him. " Srry," he replied through a mouthful of MnM's, "just mmph very hungry....." "Whatever...." Z said, rolling his neck in a semi-circle, "My necks crampin up..." Rannos saw the exposed flesh, felt the hunger tighten within his stomach. He slowly leaned towaards his neck, opening his mouth. Z noticed him leaning forward and whipped around, hitting Rannos in the head with his "fake" rifle. Rannos was knocked flat but quickly hopped up to his feet again, snarling. Z whipped out his rifle, quickly took aim and fired off a round into Rannos's shoulder. He was sent reeling back, and cried out in pain. He swore and ran down a nearby side street, looking for easier prey with which he can quench his thirst for blood.

Riding With Private Mallone by....someone......is a reallly great song. It's just very peaceful. Also, I've always liked American Pie, the Don McClean version, Madonna butchered it. Finally, most of the stuff on Ian Anderson's CD Rupi's Dance is very nice, I like it because it's unique.

I love my PS2. It has just as good of graphics as anything else that I've seen, and alot of great games. Especially great because it's backwards compatible, meaning I can play FF8 on a newer console as well as FF10. As is probably obvious, I like many of the games for PS2, because they have Final Fantasy and I love Final Fantasy. Nuff said. It can play DVD's and music, too! I find a console made by Microsoft sacriligeous, and Gamecube doesn't have many games that I like. The ones I have are about the only ones i want. I agree with Shinmaru that online isn't important, for me because I'm not allowed to get it. :bawl:

"Why are we doing this again?" Rannos asked Z as they wandered around the store. "Because," he replied, "Candy is good. We're still young enough to get some." "Whatever...." Rannos said, turning away. He traveled down the rows again, looking for something that wasn't too dorky. Spider Man.....Bat Man......Super Man.....no superheroes.....Hey! The Queer Eye guys!.....Naw......This vampire one seems pretty cool, though. Eh, might as well.....although the irony just may kill me...... He grabbed the outfit and went up to the register where a small elderly asian woman greeted him "And what would you like, young man?" "This...." he tossed the out fit on the counter.. "That will be $5." "Ok....you meant 5, right?" "Yes." "Your call." he handed her a five dollar bill and carried his costume out to a bench.
-
Rannos beat aside his students blade and hit him across the head. "Keep your blade up, dammit!" he shouted, pressing his advance. The student retreated frantically, trying to guard himself from Rannos's fierce attack. He was panting, and his blade started to droop. Rannos leaped forward, striking his opponent in the chest. There was a loud ding signaling that Rannos had won. "Not bad, I suppose. Come back next week." The student left, weezing. Rannos packed up his gear. " Well, let's go pay this Cesto guy a visit, shall we?" he walked out and got into his car. He began driving towards the docks where the boat was supposed to be to take him to Cesto's Fort.

"Ah, who needs him? I don't think that it's him, anyway." Rannos said turning in the direction that Jaycee had gone. " Now he pulled some unnatural stuff back there, I'm gonna go follow him." Rannos chased after him, using trees and bushes as cover. He stops for a second Wait.....if he's a vampire, then he wouldn't be able to walk in the sunlight! He hurried back to where the others still were. "Neither of these guys can be vampires if they're walking in the sunlight. Neither of them can be it, unless somehow they can walk in the daylight......" OOC: I'm assuming that we're outside in the sunlight, and, to my knowledge, there aren't any vamps that can walk in sunlight, anyway. My knowledge is fairly limited, however.
