1. A friend and I started using the word 'Jabronie' about a year ago. It all started when we were playing one of the WWF/WWE Smackdown games and I remembered seeing an interview with The Rock where he called his opponent a Jabronie. I just went with it and started calling my friends character a Jabronie. For some reason we just started staring at each other for a couple of seconds and then burst out laughing. Since then, it has become my adopted word. I actually have no idea what it actually means, but it has meaning to me...sniff.
  2. I was just wondering whether people think I should get Here Comes the Pain, or Shut Your Mouth? Which do you guys believe is the better game (keep in mind that I actually like the amount of time you have to invest into creating a character, and the blood doesn't faze me either way)?
  3. The graphics do look pretty good, and I'm pretty happy to se Brolly in there. This could be one to look out for.
  4.
I hear you man. Playing with my brother and my best friend was a hit. Here's something many people might be interested in. There used to be a rumor, I believe originated between the releases of Sonic 2 and 3, that there was a game called Sonic Crackers. It's not about Sonic eating Crackers and from the screens I've seen (2D) Sonic and Tails are holding rings like in the ancient 32X Genesis game: Knuckles Chaotix. I don't know if its a hoax or not but if anyone knows anything about it tell me.
Sonic Crackers was going to be Sonic 4, and was set for release on Megadrive/Genesis. It was codenamed Crackers for some reason (probably to disguise the fact it was a sequel to Sonic 3 (or Sonic and Knuckles if you prefer :))). The only release available to the public (in ROM form) is very buggy, and only features two levels (that aren't very playable because they weren't finished). Many Sonic fans believe that when the 32X (another add-on for the Megadrive/Genesis) was released, Sega wanted a killer title featuring the Sonic style of gameplay, so Yuji Naka moved the idea of Sonic Crackers to the 32X, and Knuckles Chaotix was born. Note that this is just speculation - there is no concrete evidence to say this is so, but with the fact that both games use the 'combi-ring' gameplay, it is pretty safe to say that Sonic Crackers was a precursor to Knuckles Chaotix. There are a few sites somewhere that look at all the Sonic games that were never released, as well as many levels that never made the final cut. I can't remember the url at the moment, but I'll have a look around and see if I can find it...
  5. From what I've heard, the basic story is that all of the Prince's ******** around with time has unbalanced time itself, so the prince (as its his fault everything is screwed up) takes it upon himself to right his wrongs and save Iran...sorry, I meant Persia. I've seen some fairly bad quality footage, and from what I can see it could be very interesting. One scene showed the (artist formerly know as) Prince attacking a pirate (it looked like a pirate anyway...) who changes into a sand creature in the middle of the Prince's combo. So it seems like more sand slashing will be afoot.
  6. How so? SA2:Battle has a few extra options than SA2 (except for the online component, which was pretty useless anyway) like the more distinct differences between characters in 2P mode, more 2P levels, a slightly better Chao Garden setup with connectivity with the Sonic Advance series, the Shadow theme (which I believe was the only one you couldn't get with the DC version), and slightly better graphics. I can't really see any reason to say that the DC version is better than the GCN version, except if you are a huge Sega fanboy. BTW, I'm not trying to bag you out with this comment, as I'm a bit of a fanboy myself. But it is fairly obvious that SA2:Battle is a superior game. I actually used to believe that SA2 was a better game when I first played Battle (I felt that the grinding was a little too sensitive).
  7. I was released on PSX a while ago. It didn't really have wide circulation though. A friend of mine played it and said it was average. I believe that there was also another game named 'Dragonball Z: Legends' that was supposed to be confirmed for Dreamcast and PS2, but that could've become DBZ Budokai.
  8. Yeah, the Chao's in SA2 were pretty fun. I borrowed my friends copy of SA2:Battle a couple of months ago (as my Dreamcast has been pretty temperamental as of late) and had heaps of fun building up a Super Sonic uber-chao. So much fun! I was so pissed when they got rid of it for Heroes, but I can see why (with that whole GBA connection thing, and Sonic Team wanting all three versions identical)...
  9. Yeah, Sonic Heroes was pretty bad. It pissed me off that to make the teams actually work, they had to tone down character's moves, or remove them altogether. Plus the fact that you'd be hanging out for a part where you could just let loose some speed with Sonic, and then be forced to stop 5 seconds later to take out some enemies with Knuckles or (*shudder*) Tails. The team system just broke up what Sonic games were supposed to stand for...crazy action at breakneck speeds. Plus, there was basically no story, they made a mockery of Mecha Sonic (which is an insult to all Sonic fans worldwide) make you lose lives when the game stuffs up (repeditively), and had boss fights that mostly relied on luck, not skill. Adding Espio back to the staple of characters was a great idea, but the rest of the Chaotix just got on my nerves. Plus I was hoping for a Team Classic (Sonic as Speed, Ray the Squirril as Fly and Mighty the Armadillo as Power) as a tribute to SegaSonic the Hedgehog (the first Sonic arcade game). Grinding was insane in parts, frustrating in most others. Characters didn't look as good as their SA2 counterparts (they looked like plastic, and lost some of their edge) and Special Stages were buggy and crap. The only level that impressed me in the slightest was Act 1 of that level with Eggman's fleet. Seeing all those damn ships surprised the hell out of me, and the initial drop and grinding session only fueled my belief that this level was made for Sonic's abilities. I was wrong. Dedicated to Tails and Knux (as are the rest). Pure boredom. The only reason that I kept this insult to harcore Sonic fans is to make sure my collection as complete as possible. Sonic Battle and Sonic Adventure 3 well and truly made up for it, though.
You can fix the voice acting by changing the voices to Japanese. The Japanese voices are excellent.
Yep, I know. But we shouldn't have to. You can also change the system language of your console to Japanese to have the Japanese voices in Sonic Heroes.
  10. I can hear it now. I can hear the voices of all the GTA fans laughing at how stupid Rockstar are to get Ice Cube to do any voice, let alone the main character's. Although, I do agree that 50 Cent isn't much better. I just wouldn't put Ice Cube. Enough people hate him as is. He'd just bring down GTA:SA as soon as everyone heard he had anything to do with it.
  11.
I have a favorite sonic game that is not on that list i played it a gameworks ,i forget the name but it is a fighting game like tekken but it has all the characters from sonic its a fun game but i think its only i arcade but i dont know...
Yeah, it was only released as coin-op. It was called Sonic the Fighters (and sometimes Sonic Championship). People have been campaigning to try and get Sonic Team to release it on a home console for a while... Sonic is still my favourite character, even though his voice is horrible in the Adventure series (as well as Heroes). A close second is Shadow, basically because he's such a badass (especially in the Archie comics). Loved seeing him actually physically attack Robotnik/Eggman in the comics. He has a Vegeta feel to him, IMHO. Emerl would be third. I nearly cried when
Emerl died
in Sonic Battle. BTW, your missing out on a hefty amount of Sonic titles here. Where are Sonic Advance 1,2 and 3? Where's Sonic Battle? What about those MacDonalds toys (my friend would vote for them...)? If your gonna have one of these 'Your fav game' polls, you've gotta have all the games, not just some. So I'm just gonna say which are my favourites... 3D Sonic (at the moment) - Sonic Adventure 2 2D Sonic (at the moment) - Sonic Advance 3 Fav Sonic of all - Probably Sonic CD
My favorite character would have to be Knuckles just because he can beat Sonic.
Where has it been specified that Knuckles 'can beat Sonic'? From what I can recall, they've been pretty even.
Also, why hasn't SEGA done anything with the Super Emeralds seen in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles that make you able to go past Super into Hyper.
Because everyone's Hyper form was only thrown in to add something more to Sonic 3 and Knuckles. It wasn't included because it left too many loopholes in the storyline. Plus, it was pretty useless adding it for the 3D ones because Super was invincible anyway. Hyper just flashed purdy colours. :D
  12. I agree with all those games. I haven't had the pleasure to use the GBA Player yet. Is it worth getting one if you already own a GBA?
  13. I'm just gonna mention one game for starters: Ninja Gaiden. This is hacking and slashing at its best. If you want a comparison, I'd have to say maybe Prince of Persia (for the acrobatics) and (from what I've heard of the game) Devil May Cry for the combat. Combat can be tough, but is equally rewarding when you make it through a wave of enemies attempting to lay the smackdown on you. Combat just flows. Its hard to explain how it works well: it just does. The boss fights in Ninja Gaiden are also some of the hardest I've ever had to face. After defeating one that I had been trying to beat for hours, I yelled out quite a few obsenities (sp?) at my fallen foe, waking the rest of the house in the process (I was playing at about midnight)! Its games like this that make you realise why your skin is all pasty and you shy away from natural light. It also lasts quite a while. I've played about 10 hours already and I don't think I'm near the end.
  14.
My little brother has a video game, called Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando, he has beaten the game severral times but he cannot seem to find all of the nanotech boosts. I was wondering if anyone here would happen to know where some are located? Scincerly, your vampire: Doll
I'd have a look at www.gamefaqs.com, as they will most probably have a few walkthroughs that could help you out with that.

    Halo 2
I really hate to be the guy who just posts in random quotes from other sites, but IGN seem to have some pretty good news regarding a Limited Edition copy of Halo 2 that?s due in early November. They're even more excited about telling us by the sounds of it... Even if that?s not all that Bungie have included in this special Limited Edition version, they are already the typical things you?d expect to at least feature in the original. No news on whether it?ll cost more, but if so, I definitely wouldn?t recommend it.
From what I've gathered, the Limited Edition version will cost the same. If you've already preordered Halo 2, then the store that you preordered it at should contact you soon and ask which version you want. If they dont, go and have a word to them. If you haven't preordered it yet, what are you thinking? Get that hard-earned dosh and put it down on it ASAP!
I think that the single greatest improvement Halo 2 would benefit from (and I'm not sure it's happening; I haven't seen anything about it so I'd guess it's not) is bots. I don't hook up X-boxes often and I don't know how much I'll play it on X-box live. I prefer playing with people in the same room as me, and I prefer being on a team with them. 2 or 3 or 4-player multiplayer gets old real fast. If there were bots, my brother and I or a couple of friends and I could do a 2 vs 5 or 3 vs 6 or something and take on a bunch of AI opponents. Obviously Bungie can do AI pretty well. So I think bots would be a great addition. Until they appear in Halo, it still won't beat out Perfect Dark in my book.
I agree - bots would be a great addition to an already brilliant game (well, I guess I'm just speculating, but who can tell me honestly that this game isn't gonna rock?). Great for LANs when not everyone turns up. Or when you're being 'Johnny-No-Friends' and just want to get some practice in. I believe that Bungie will probably incorporate bots into Halo 2. After all the other FPSs that have benefited from this, I'm sure they won't be stupid enough to leave out this feature. But then, I could be wrong...
  16.
Where would Americal Idol be without Simons remarks? I had an idea for the American Idol game, I didn't realise they had made one, but hey, they could probably take a leaf outta this one! American Idol: Unleashed (or some other crappy one line catch title)
I was thinking American Idol: Underground. Make your way up from the ghetto to become an up and coming Rap Star. Various rappers make appearances as guest judges, like Eminem who bags you out for being a try-hard white rapper (how ironic) to Snoop Dogg who is too busy smoking whatevers handy to give comment. And, as mentioned before in a previous post, after Simon's comment you can choose how to react. Want to look sad and rejected? Done. Want to have a punch-up and piledrive him through the judges table. You bet you can do that! You'll even get extra votes based on how bad you take Simon down. You'll also be competing against a rival (kinda like that guy in Tony Hawk Underground) who'll eventually manage to steal your thunder and become American Idol. Then you'll go off to 'find your roots', create some super dooper dance step (there's a create-a-dance-move mode thrown in for the hell of it) and form a really budget boy or girl band that recieves luke-warm attention. Then you'll be happy that you did it the honest way, while the other guy is rolling in money and bizaches. Best. Game. Ever.
  17. If you like your RPGs, go for a PS2. Or even better, wait til people start to sell of their PS2s so that they can get a PS3 (as it is backwards compatible). Not only will you be able to snatch one up cheap, but you'll be able to get some dirt cheap games as the stores will be getting rid of their PS2 stock to make way for PS3 stock. This is what I plan to do. If you can't wait though (and you're getting one because you want to, not because of your friends) get one now. It's all up to personal opinion. *edit* - You could also wait for a PS3 yourself. Its backwards compatible, so you wouldn't have any problems, plus you'll be able to get the next-gen games as well.

    Troy

I really enjoyed it. I thought that because it was so long, it would be like Titanic and be very patchy at times, but I really enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I'm probably going to see it again soon.
  19.
I think it looks cool, but why use the name San Andreas? Use a diffrent city name dammit! Remember Grand Theft Auto Miami?... oh, that turned to Vice City. And bikes have been around since GTA and GTA2.
They are using the name San Andreas because the three cities in GTA1 were named Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas city. Rockstar wanted to have the 3D games take place in the cities that they had already developed so that people who had played the previous games would get a kick out of being in a 3D version of these cities, as well as the fact that it would avoid outrage from actual cities. If Vice City was actually called GTA: Miami, Miami would probably sue as soon as the game was released as they could claim that the game gave people false views of what Miama is actually like. Bikes have been around since GTA1, and I believe may have been removed in 2, but the bikes that were being referred to were push bikes, not motorbikes. I really can't see how riding a push bike will be any fun though, as anything slow most people try to avoid. Would you like to 'hoon' around on a motorbike that goes at the speed of a Manama? Probably not. Overall, the game is sounding very impressive. Graphically, I'm not getting too excited, as there are other games that look purdyier, but they look great and do their job well. I wasn't expecting it to look as good as Far Cry or anything, and so the graphics are good enough for me. The size of San Andreas sounds great, and should add a bit of longevity to the game. Gang warfare sounds awesome, as does multiple person driveby's. I hope that Rockstar stick with voice acting for the main character, as this was a big part of the charm of Tommy Vercetti. Personally, I'd like a return to the more defined areas of GTA3. Vice City really didn't have much structure to it. It seems that GTA: SA will take both of these into account. It all seems very impressive. If only there wasn't a wait for Xbox and PC owners...
Sounds interesting. As for minors playing the game, it's not as if actions haven't been taken to prevent this; the game was banned in Australia after all. But I believe it's another case of judging a book by its cover, with the violence at first glance and all, but the game genuinely is fun.
GTA was never really 'banned' in Australia, it was just removed from shelves for about a month while Rockstar were forced by the OFLC (the video game rating people in Oz) to remove the hookers from the game, as they refuse to have an R rating for video games (which is stupid in my opinion). It seems that this initially slipped past them, but they eventually caught on and told Rockstar to either remove the hookers (or more specifically, what you could do with said hooker), or remove the game. Obviously Rockstar didn't want to lose out on sales, so they removed them and re-released the game. I agree with the 'judging a book by its cover' though, but because of the OFLC screwing everything up, there's not much we can do. We weren't missing out on anything to important anyway. :D
  20. One thing that I find quite funny is that Lara Croft is considered by many to be role model for female gamers. Now, this seems a bit suss, as the developers of the original Tomb Raider in an interview specified that Lara Croft was used instead of a male character because the gamer would be staring at the behind of the character for basically the whole game. They figured that more gamers would prefer to have to view a female's 'behind' more than a males, so Lara was born! (BTW, this is absolute truth. If you don't believe me, try and find a fairly old issue of Sega Saturn Magazine with about an eight page spread about the game). Oh, plus the fact that she is now basically a gaming sex symbol, I dont think calling her a role model for female gamers is really that accurate. :D
  21. Mine came from the fact that someone kept claiming that I was the spawn of the devil. I ran with this and found out that the word 'Asura' was supposed to mean 'demon seed', so I added a 'h' to it (to have the 'ash' part to it, which I thought looked better) and Bob's your uncle! I found out later that there was a bug in Sonic 2 that garbled the palette, turning Sonic into a strange green. This phenomenon was named 'Ashura'. So most Sonic fans think that I ripped the name from that. Oh well... Also, a Pokemon fan-fic has been brought to my attention. This fan-fic extended Ash's name to Ashura, screwing me over there as well. Now Pokemon fans think I ripped it from that as well! You can't win can you?
  22. If you can get ahold of it, Hyper Magazine (an awesome Aussie magazine, for those who don't know) ran a really good article on girl gamers, and some of the stereotypes that they have to face. I'll find out what issue it was in and get back to people. On a personal note, I wouldn't mind getting my *** handed to me by a girl in any video game. It'd be a change from everyone else doing it! Seriously, I can't believe the stereotypes put upon girl gamers. I have a mate who is female and likes video games quite a bit. She always turns up to the 'games days' that I organise, and she's exactly like the rest of us, ready to frag all day! We've never put crap on her for being a girl gamer, but I have seen it happen to to others. All I can say is that these people are really sad. Plus, its always funny to see them trounced by the girl they were bagging out afterwards!
  23. Sidekicks are tend not to be mentioned as much as the main character because that's what they are, sidekicks. If I asked someone whether Sonic or Tails is cooler, 9 out 10 times the person will say they're both crap. But that 10th person is most likely going to say Sonic. Why? Because Sonic is the main character. Therefore, the main character is mentioned more because they need to be. The sidekick is only there to help, and most of the time is not needed at all. Both the Sonic and Mario games have sidekicks that are not needed gameplay-wise. Sonic has Tails, and Mario has Yoshi. There is no denying that Yoshi is cool, but he is not mentioned as much because he doesn't need to be there (actually, Yoshi is kinda a bad example, as he is the star of at least two games, but you should get the gist of what I'm trying to say.
  24. I've completed Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, as well as Sonic 3 & Knuckles, without getting hit once and getting every single Chaos Emerald. I know, I'm sad. I do have a friend that has beaten the Huge Yoshi mission in SSBM in less than a second...seriously! I saw the record.
  25. I've seen all of Stage 1, 2 and the Stage 3 movie, and I loved it! It got me addicted to the arcade game (even though I haven't beat Bunta yet...stupid Bunta!). I personally had no problem with the CG whatsoever, and Stage 3's CG was pretty good IMO. Stage 4 is sounding pretty awesome though. Any idea when Stage 4 is released (not the really bad TokyoPop dub)? Can you give us (well, me anyway) any tidbits story-wise?
