My limit is however much money I have at the time...LOL... Just kidding... Manga-wise my limit is about $3,000 a year, currently I'm spending about $1,500 a year, but that's only because I'm not working at the moment. Anime-wise my limit is I don't know... I mean I'd love to buy box sets and things like that, but I think box sets are way over priced. I mean $150-300 just for a box set of one season of an anime? I just don't see the point in dropping that much cash into an investment like that... I'd go up to $60 at a maximum at any one time (unless I'm spending someone else's money   ) I don't go out and buy anime nearly as much as I buy manga... Maybe because I see manga as a better investment (I love to read). Manga also happen to be cheaper...I just wish there were more titles that have already been translated... Oh well... C'est la vie. I know that once I've completed my collecting of any one particular manga title, I wouldn't mind collecting the corresponding anime, but that's a while down the road (seeing as I have no money for anything at the moment). Oh well, those are my limits so far!! ^^
In most ways, I have to agree with Queen Asuka. I don't really know what people expect out of Japan... but you really cannot hope to move into a foreign country as sheltered as theirs and magically expect to survive there. Japan does not exactly welcome foreigners with welcome arms, especially if they try to assimilate themselves into the culture. Getting citizenship here is a cakewalk by comparison. Anime is part of Japanese culture, true. However, if a Japanese person moved here and knew little outside of what they've learned from American sitcoms and cartoons, what exactly would they do in this country? Japan is a real place, just the same as here. It's not a mecca where the world revolves around fun times and robots and knowing a few basic Japanese terms. If you know those, perhaps you also know "gaijin" and how much it affects you out there, especially in terms of national rights and a job. I know people who have lived in or are originally from Japan and all of them really just say the same things. It's an insanely expensive place to live. The housing is cramped. Unless you're already fluent in Japanese, I can't see why anyone would even need you there honestly. You'd serve no purpose. What would you do? Wander around Akihabara buying games and anime? Basically going there is more or less a pipe dream that exists simply because a person likes anime enough to think that they'd somehow fit in there more than they would here. It's not that simple. My ex, Colleen, takes Japanese in college and is hoping to teach English in Japan. To me, someone with actual goals in that country that would actually provide a useful service has a decent reason to be there. If anyone here told me they knew exactly why they wanted to go there, I'd have little problem with it. Wanting to move there because you like games or anime, however, is just a passing phase that will hopefully go away... unless you find something useful to tap that into. I'm reminded of that Simpsons episode where Homer calls the Mr. Sparkle Company in Japan. At first he talks to a normal looking Japanese guy, but he doesn't know English. So he passes the phone to another Japanese man that does know English and the man looks like a complete fool. He basically has thrown all of American popular culture on himself regardless of how true it is to America in reality. He even says "Hello cheif. Let's talk why not." lol To me this is basically what we're talking about here, except reversed (and obviously exaggerated). If you're into that aspect, you might as well just vacation there a few times, I'd say. I'm sure I'm going to get a "don't crush people's dreams!" thing, but I dont care. Maybe it would make people realize that they need to know more about a country than what anime and manga show them. If you have a better reason to go, then that's another story really.
Well I'm not gonna give you the whole 'don't crush people's dreams' speach, one because I've already given it and if you feel like you should recieve the speach, just read what I already posted. Two because I think I've made my point. The only real problem I had with Queen Asuka's post was that she was very harsh in her choice of words. Queen Asuka, I must apologize. What I said about you being bitter and bitchy was all said out of anger. I found what you said to be mildly arrogant and extremely harsh, so I lost control of my temper a bit and started to insult you. I apologize. I was wrong to do so and I still have a lot of growing up to do. I do, however, understand where you are coming from. I have lived in poverty with my mother and brother ever sense I was very little. Things did not start looking up until about 7 years ago, and nothing started looking up (for me) until 3-5 years ago. 5 years ago because mom was finally able to buy a house and settle down somewhere for longer than a few months/years. 3 years ago because I finally got a job and was able to start buying things for myself and helping to ease my mother's burdens. I started to help with some of her bills, like food and heating. One because I wanted to experiance what it was like to spend my money on something other than whatever I wanted and two because I saw it as the only proper thing to do after all her years of hard work to bring my brother and I up properly. When I got a job, I did start to help out with things around the house and I did go out and buy things for me. I also worked extremely hard for 2,000 dollars worth of spending money when my mom and dad both helped to pay for a trip to France. As a semi-experianced world traveler I know how hard it is to try to get along in a forign country with limited understanding of the language (at the time I was in French I). It's not impossible, just excruciatingly hard. My $2,000 lasted me my entire trip and a little while afterwards, I had about 20 Euros (the equivilant of $25ish) and about $950 (us) left over. If I hadn't bought any souveniers or anything, my money would have lasted a lot longer, but that's beside the point. (Now that I mention it, what was the point I was trying to make in this post?) Oh yeah, I remember. I do understand that you're just trying to protect others from making really bad mistakes, but I don't think you should have been so harsh... I again apologize for what I said, I infact was the bitchy one... Sorry.
Oh my gosh, this is the most stupid thing I have ever heard! I can't believe you actually think that with 7500 dollars you're going to be able to support yourself in Japan. You think you're going to learn Japanese pretty quick, enough to where you can get a job, and support yourself? Do you know how much the cost of living is over there? I hate to burst all of your bubbles, but Japan is not paradise on Earth. It's not like in the anime movies where everything just goes your way and you can just move to the city and make a life for yourself. Its especially not enough if you don't have a high school diploma or a college degree. I can't wait until you people hit at LEAST 16 and you realize how dumb you sounded when you said you wanted to move to Japan. It's one thing to want to visit, its another thing to want to live there, just because of your profound interest in anime. You think by going to Japan you can just lounge around all day and watch anime and read manga and not have a care in the world? Living all by yourself in a foreign country where the culture is completely different and they speak a very complicated language? Oh my gosh, I just can't believe how stupid this all is. Your parents are RIGHT to keep you away from anime! Look how it's making you think? It's just delusions of grandeur!
Aren't you being just a little harsh? For all you know Darius_Stomu may have been taking Japanese courses at school or at his local community college, I know I will be this summer. Besides I don't think you have any right to speak like that to someone. You must be bitter over something because you shouldn't be acting like this just because someone doesn't appear to be thinking something all the way through. What caused you to be so bitchy? They did say that they were going to finish high school and get their diploma! Don't you read!? Or do you just want to rant at someone? I mean at least have a good reason for ranting..Ok? I'm 17 years old and ever sense I was 12 I've been living in the real world. I think the only people who haven't been living in the real world are people who live a sheltered life and people who like to pick on others and try to crush their hopes and dreams... Maybe you should take a good look at yourself before criticizing other people. It's not fair to anyone when people like you open their mouths and say something like what you just said.

Name: Shila Age: 17 Gender: Female Looks: Tall with well toned mucles. Slightly tanned with waist lenght white hair with burgundy streaks. Dark red eyes and odd red markings on her left cheek that circle down her body in a spiral to end on her right ankle. She also wears a snake shaped arm band on her upper right arm. About Shila: Shila is shy when she first meets someone, but once you've befrended her, she sticks by your side through thik and think.. And probably anything else you try to do to pry her from your side... She's only been betrayed twice in her life, so it makes her catious, and she is slightly more mature than one would think from the way she acts most of the time. Fun lovine and eager to learn anything, Shila's a bit of a book worm and likes peacful solutions to anything... Often plays the roll of mediator, people often like her for who she is...Because Shila is a bit of a bookworm, many think she's smart, but in reality she's just slightly smarter than average (meaning she gets a mixture of A's and B's instead of B's and C's).. Because of this so-called intelligence, Shila tends to be quiet and sit in the back of the classroom, usually hoping the class will be able to think for itself, but will usually end up raising her hand and answering the question when the class fails to rise to the challenge. Shila will tease anyone she want's to ruthlessly, usually until the teasee is on the brink of tears before she lightens up and goes off to tease some one else. PS, she really really is a perfectionist!! That's pretty much all I can think of for the moment, and by the way it's Maison IKKOKU!!.. Sorry I'm a stickler for perfection.. Oh... Shila needs that too... PSS I think it's pretty obvious that she goes to Local High School. Uhh... She doesn't live in Maison Otaku, just right next door (which is really across the street) with her friends.
Why is Witch Hunter Robin "pretty good"? All you've done here is state your feelings about the show; you need to provide justification for your opinions. As I mentioned in my wish list thread, I've been very excited about WHR's arrival at AS. I like its unique character designs--they might even be described as daring--and smooth animation. Certain shots in the beginning episode remind me of scenes from X-TV, particularly when Amon first attacks the rouge witch. Speaking of which, Amon is a fantastic (and highly attractive) character. I really look forward to learning more about his abilities. I'm a little bit disappointed with WHR's dub. While it features a whole array of popular and talented VAs, here they all sound rather stiff. It could have something to do with the show's translated script; the dialogue is saddled with slow moments and awkward pauses. Hopefully everyone will eventually become more comfortable with their roles. ~Dagger~
I never really noticed any 'relaxation' of the va's into their roles... They all seem kind of tense all the time, but in a way that helps to create the atmosphere of the show. I think if they were all as relaxed as Nagira sounds, the show wouldn't have caught and held such a high level of my attention... I believe the tenseness in their voices helped to capture my attention and suck me into another great anime. I think Amon has officially been added to my very long list of anime hotties that will be chained to my hottie wall of DOOM when Roq finally qonqures the world!! (I think Crispin does a fine job at bringing Amon's character to life, just like David Kaye does a great job for my fluffy puppy^^)
I am in favor of Robin and Amon shipping. (relationship, to those of you who don't know) For some reason, I think there's something going on between those two...
Well Duh!! Everyone can see it... Especially in the first ep when they first see each other...And in...Uhh.. I think it's episode 6... or something...When Robin gets stuck in the rain and her Vespa runs out of gas... And this lady gives her a ride and lets Robin borrow her umbrella... Anyway Robin in that episode (at least I think so) sees Amon and the chick Robin lives with ( I can't remember her name) Are walking in the park together... Maybe it's a little later in the series but I don't think so... Amon's like trying to break it off with the chicky and you can absolutely tell he's got someone else on his mind (most likely Robin)... Then there are later eps where Amon is hangin out in her apartment feelin bad because his ex was caught in the cross fire... And then there's the fact that Amon helped Robin excape a whole bunch of scary people and almost kisses her as he's saying goodbye and telling her to meet him someplace... and all... And you also have to take into account the last episode... "I don't know if a person as powerful as you should exist...But the only way to find out is for you to live." A. "I guess that makes you my watch dog." R w/ sly and slightly suggestive smile... Then building go boom as it collapses in on itself... YAY!! *waves flags*
Witch Hunter Robin is so cool! It and GTO are all I keep talking about! I think Amon is hot. Robin's really cool. But you know, have you noticed that Hellsing and Witch Hunter Robin are a like, in the irony sense. In WHR, Robin is a craft using witch who joins STNJ, a witch hunting organization, and in Hellsing, Alucard is a Vampire who is on a Vampire Hunting team. I found that amusing!:cross: P.s I also don't trust that guy at the cafe. Something's telling me that he's evil.:shifty:
I'd have to agree.. Amon is hot.. In an odd kind of dark mysterious way.. Yeah it is kinda funny that the irony is the same... But Harry isn't a bad guy... he's just kinda creepy...I don't like his voice... He almost sounds like a girl... I wonder if he's a eunuch?...LOL...JK!! Did you know that the dude who does the voice for Kenshin also does the voice for Harry's kid... Man I hate this..My mind did a total blank when I was trying to think of Kenshin's va... Oh well.. Yeah it's really cool!! *back to original topic* The show is worth the $25 for the DVD's, but I'm poor, so I'm just taping all the eps... Yeah... HEY! Did any of you get a kick out of what AS did Wed night on all the anime... All their little squiggly drawings, like adding facial hair and all to people...I thought it was funny, especially when they did one on the back of Chief Kosaka's head... It was funny!! ^^
The only things she didn't take where the PS2 itself, my bed, my TV and my ONE table...At least I can pack light ^^.
If I were you, I wouldn't even pack that stuff... It's probably gonna cost to much to ship all that stuff over to Japan and keep it in storage (bacause I don't think there's a lot of room over there) until you're 19. I know that you said you're getting a bunch of money and all, but if you're really serious about moving over there.. Save everything that you can while you're here and have what you're not using to move transferred into a savings account (or whatever you'd be using) over there. Believe me, it's really expensive over there... And don't forget that inflation in Japan is really high... I'm glad that you're planning to move and I hope that you have a wonderful time over there, I just want to make sure that you're prepared for reality...(Gawd, I'm sounding like my mother... :bawl: :worried: :help: :twitch: ) Anyway... Just make sure you come on the board and let everyone know what's up and everything... I for one want to know what's goin' on over there... I plan to move over there as an English teacher... When I grad... get into college and grad from that... then I have to go to vocational school... But yeah! ^^

When I was younger my brother was sooo rotten to me... One time for April Fool's Day he cut off the head of my favorite teddy bear... and tossed the severed head in my lapl... I cried for days... Until momma sewed it back on...My mom was sooo angry with him.. Hehe... It's ok cuz the following year I locked him in the garage for 45 minutes!!  Oh yeah!! Well yeah... That's all I can think of for April Fool's Day pranks... But I'm only 17 I still have a lot of years ahead of me.

Anime Do you use anime/manga for school projects or assignments?
maikiratori replied to Marron347's topic in Otaku Central
I use anime in anything school related whenever I can!! I mean if I can get away with it, then I do it... In English the other day, I used variation of the "Traveler" story in Fruits Basket and then I wrote a poem kind of explaining the characters and all.. I got a way with it *cheesey look* Oh yeah!! I'm sooo goood! *pose* -
When I was little, my career goals went from: archeaologist, artist, lawyer, surgeon, nurse, artist, surgeon, writer, artist, and video game designer. Well now I know I want nothing to do with medicine or law, and if I do become any sort of video game designer I'd kill myself before making my first one. [I hate math and complicated computer things] I still have a small stirring in my that wants to make a comic series, but if that happens it'll probably be something I do when I have free time. The only thing I can think of myself doing is becoming a novelist, which I have no problem with. ^_^. I know for certain, though, that my career later on will most definately lie somewhere in literature or the liberal arts.
YAY!! POWER TO THE WRITERS OF THE WORLD!!
I've never seen a topic like this before. ^_^ The ideal kawaii girl is sweet, considerate and uncomplicated. Others may see her as an airhead or a ditz, but her selflessness more than makes up for any astounding lack of brilliance. Although mental intelligence is not once of her salient characteristics, she's very wise about most emotional matters--except those involving her own heart. People love this girl because she refuses to be discouraged and never succumbs to angst. Her patience, innocence and unflagging optimism appeal to both women and men alike, making her seem special despite her lack of unusual talents. Examples: Tohru (Fruits Basket), Saya (Peace Maker Kurogane), Yumi (Maria-sama ga Miteru) Ah, the badass guy: my favorite type of character. He may or may not have a heart of gold... either way, it's imperative that he rarely reveal his true feelings. Intimidating, aloof and untalkative, he is generally the best at what he does--a true professional in every sense of the word. While he usually specializes in combat, he may have other skills. The badass guy can be distinguished by his love of solitude and tendency to look down on others; caprice can sometimes spur him to act kindly, but he is best known for his intolerance and icy demeanor. Examples: Yuki (Gravitation), Amon (Witch Hunter Robin), Alex (Last Exile), Hijikata (Peace Maker Kurogane) 0ber0n and maikiratori, I was quite surprised to see who you'd selected as your favorite badass men. I suppose that Spike might fall into that category, but Vash and Kenshin are far too kind-hearted. Same goes for Yuki.... and Kyo is really just a wannabe, heh. ^_^;; ~Dagger~
I do understand what you mean by saying Kenshin and Vash are too kindhearted, but you also have to look at what I said in context. I meant that when they are in their 'zone' or whatever you want to call it, they are pretty bada** and all... I mean it's almost scary! I know I wouldn't want to be up against them when they're like that... And I just had to mention Kyo, 1 because I think he's sooo cool/hot and 2 because I was mostly thinking of his temper and how when he's pissed he's kinda 'Arrrg!!' (I use words like that and all when I can't think of the word I wanna say)
I am a fan of Rumiko Takahashi's work and really enjoy Inu Yasha. The first time I came to know her work was reading the manga for Ranma 1/2. Been a fan since. I have been watching Inu Yasha since they started showing episodes on AS. I just wish they would show some new episodes! The thing I really enjoy about her work is the strong female characters she adds to the stories. Many times the female characters are weak and helpless....which just gives the lead male someone to rescue. Characters like Sango and Kagome can hold their own, yet are still feminine. The other thing I enjoy in the storyline is the love triangle with Inu Yasha, Kagome and Kikyo. The tension is great! It really does pull at your heart-strings watching the conflict that Inu Yasha goes through being torn between his love of Kikyo and his feelings for Kagome. That underlying tension in the storyline adds so much more depth to the tale. Bad guys who you just hate, strong female characters, comic relief characters, martial arts, supernatural powers, great storyline and wonderful love triangle. Inu Yasha has a little bit of everything in the story for everyone to enjoy.
Well for me it was the other way around...I got hooked on Inu first then I branched out to Ranma 1/2 and other Rumiko Takahashi manga/anime (Maison Ikkoku and so on) I really love Inu because I can relate to Sango and Kagome... I'm kinda like a combo of those two, Akane and a few other anime chickies..Anyway that's not what I was gonna say...I was gonna say that you can't forget Koga... He's kinda like a 4th wheel or something.. He doesn't really help situations between Inu, Kagome and all...Kikyo needs to make up her mind, though... I mean she needs to either decide that she loves Inu or that she's gonna kill him or something... But I guess she can't do that... It seems like Japanese peoples back then were really obsessed with death...Or that's what all my research has led me to notice... Kikyo is really a strong character too... But I think Midoriko is the strongest (just because she's only been in one ep ^^;;) Miroku's really funny, but he should study under Happosai (i can never spell his name correctly... Wait I have Ranma... Gimme a sec! *is gone for a few minutes and comes back* Aha!! Yay! I did spell it correctly!!) Yeah, Miroku needs to study under Happosai, then he'd really be a lech!!
Personally, I've never believed somebody should use sex appeal to win in any industry. You might be interested in self publishing. You hook up a decent website with a free mp3 of a song or two you've done, then you get a bunch of pretty good quality CD-Rs and copy your music on the CD, and sell them. You can even buy programs that'll let you add a label on top of blank CDs so that it looks more profressional. And on a different note, I wanted to be a scientist when I was a little kid(mostly so I would know what to mix together to make stuff blow up). Now, on the other hand, I plan on having my own tattoo shop. So when you see hellpainters tattoo and damnation next to the pizza place in about 6 years, remember you knew the hellpainter when he was a 12 year old punk that hated the world.
Well, what if you're in the sex appeal business? I mean, what if you're a stripper or something? Then what do you do? How do you not use sex appeal? Sorry to be a pest, but it's what I do ^^;
Wow. You're great for the ego. You will go far. Thanks for the enlightenment...I think I might go practice today. Eh, I just wish I had the same support from my family. Good luck on your writing career, I think you'd end up writing some great self-help books. lol
I try to do my best in making people see the best in themselves...I'm not so sure about the self-help books things, I mean I mostly use a lot of common sense and all.. But I guess if people are feeling bad or something, they don't really think about how to solve or fix what's wrong, they just focus on what is wrong. Oh well.. I just wanted to help in any way I can...It's kind a hard for me to just sit by and watch people feel bad, if there's something I can do to help. Ya know?
Believe me, I'd love to have my music known all over the world...but I just don't see that happening. I've been playing for five years and I've written many songs, but when it comes to my style, it's a male-dominated world. I don't want to have to use some sort of sex-appeal to get people to listen to my music, or any other sort of mass-marketing scheme. I wouldn't make it as a musician, I have too much pride and I don't like taking off my clothes in public.
But that is exactly why you must try your hardest to let your music be heard by everyone you can! You have integrety, something Britney Spears has not. Be who you are and don't let some man trying to tell you that you can or cannot wear clothes that make you comfortable, that you can't play because you're a woman. Tell them who's boss. Stand up for yourself and your beliefs, if you turn away now, you won't know if you have the strength and heart to do it next time... and the time after that... and the time after that. Do it now, for yourself. I am persuing a minor writing career and I'm only 16 (almost 17 *this April!!*). Take heart in the fact that you have at least one female supporter (probably more if you'd just think about it) and try your best.

Well a cute girl would have to be someone who's smart, and strong willed. But they also have to consider others feelings, they should be full of good advice or common sense. The girl shouldn't be an airhead all the time, but once in a while it's ok. People should love her for what she has to offer (intellectually or emotionally) and not for her looks or anything like that. Like a cross between Kagome (Inu Yasha) and Tohru (Fruits Basket) A really bad*ss guy would have to be someone, who, though complicated, is kind and fairly tolerant of things around them. They'd have to have something to make them unique, like a complicated past, or some little quirk in their personality that makes them the way they are. Of coarse they'd have to have some sort of fighting skills/weaponry, and a slight attitude when peeved. Like a cross between Spike (Cowboy Bebop), Kyo and Yuki (Fruits Basket), Kenshin (Ruroni Kenshin) and Amon (Witch Hunter Robin) An imposing villian, well this one's a toughy. There are so many aspects that can make one imposing and a villian. Well frist off, the villian'd have to have a cruel streak (obviously) and they'd have to have a past that's intertwined with the bad*ss. (Spike/Vicious or Knives/Vash) The villian must have a dark motive (or one they believe must be dark even if it isn't) and a means of carrying it out. Powerful in one form or another and intelligent. So probably like Vicious (Cowboy Bebop) Akito (Fruits Basket), Zaizan (Witch Hunter Robin), or Naraku (Inu Yasha) Strong love relationship... Well the couple would have to understand one another, respect one another and willing to stick with each other through some sticky situations. They'd each have to trust the other with more than just their feelings, their deepest secrets and thoughts. Each would have to risk a lot for the other's benefit at one point in the relationship or another. They'd have to be ready to admit to themselves and others, their true feelings for the other person. They could be shy and akward as long as there's a little romance(ing) involved. I can only think of one relationship that really fits with this description and one that will possibly develope (once I get the 4th disc I can find out). Kagome and Inu Yasha (Inu Yasha... duh!!) and Tohru and Yuki (Fruits Basket, we all know Kyo likes Tohru, but from what I've seen Tohru favors Yuki more)
YAY, crazed lunatics like me!!^^ I'd like to say to the post earlier, you're right that the series would be boring if Inu and Kagome just told eachother how they felt!! But Shippou might be able to keep the show running, he rocks^^ But we all should know by now that without all those colorful characters Inuyasha would not be as good!!^^ I LOVE INUYASHA!!^_____^ PS I've seen the frist two movies, hope you are able to find them... The frist one is coming out in America this summer I think? So good luck getting those^^
Thanks for that tidbit of info!! You just made my day!! I can't wait for the Inu movies to come out this or next summer... (now if only the harry potter book would do that) THANKS!!!
When I was about 9, I wanted to be Robin Hood. The female version. I watched the movie Prince of Thieves about 100 times, and learned the wonderful art of archery. Then I decided that I couldn't be Robin Hood, I just don't look good in green spandex. Then I wanted to be an assassin. With knives and daggers and a whole manner of deadly items hidden in my neat assassin outfit. I grew up slightly and had to become a veterinarian. I love animals, and they are the entire reason I still exist. Unfortunately, I watched that Emergency Vets show, and lost the urge to help animals get better. Those people were waving the broken leg of a dog around! Sick. Now, I just aspire to become a Load Master for the Air Force. Sounds like an easy job, do some math and travel around the world. Yay. In all honesty, I would rather become a world famous artist. I want strangers to look at my paintings and burst into tears. I want my sketch pads to become collectors items, sold on E-Bay for thousands of dollars. Most of all, I want to make enough money to support my mom and dad. I have this feeling that they are going to need all the help they can get as time passes. Icewolfeyes
Well I do agree with the whole sickness of the waving of the broken dog leg... That's sick, wrong and disrespectful to the animal. How rude, they're there to help and save the animals, not play with whatever's wrong with them. Although I never wanted to be an assassin, the way you talk about it makes it sound fun, except for the years of brutal training and hardening of your heart and all... But the weaponry thing sounds great. Traveling the world is great... I love it!
Well, unlike StarShine, I'm something of a Narcist (did I spell that right?) Well, when I was like five I wanted to run off and join the circus. I had it all planned I was going to be a lion trainer. Unfortunately I was afraid of clowns at the time so that plan fell through. Besides, the circus never came at the right time. :bawl: The I wanted to be an actress. Hey, I'm a narcissistic ham right? But nobody ever gave me a chance exept as an angel in the Christmas play in elementary school. After the actress thing bombed I decided that with all the therapists I was seeing, I'd become one. I mean the best teacher is experiance right? Of course, when I found out how long school is for a doctorite I decided against that. :lecture: I guess now I've decided to be a bus driver and a mommy-so yeah, that works out for me...until I decide to want to be a vamipric race car driver like one of my RPG characters. :rotflmao:
First of all, you are a narssasistic ham ( I can't spell!!) I do love the way you animate your commentary. Makes it sound so...Fun... Lol... You're funny!
I'll make this quick 'cause I don't love talking about myself as much as everybody else does...okay in order: 1)Astronaunt, 2) Cartoonist, 3) Professional Guitarist, 4) Website Designer I love music and art, and I plan on going into marketing (advertisting) and maybe doing web site design. As far as music I'm too much of a bum to pick up my guitar and practice so I've give up all hope.
It's a shame you're a bum...I don't think you'd be a bum...if you really loved music and your guitar. The world needs more musicians. Music is universal and brings joy(well most music) to everyone who hears it. Music is great and wonderful... Spread it for everyone to hear!!

I love Inu Yasha!! Well, not Inu Yasha, I really love Sesshomaru, but I first started watching Iny Yasha in.... October a two years ago, when it was on AS... Before they started repeating the same 35 eps over and over and over and over again... *shakes fist at AS* Well now they're starting to get new eps and I think they're in the 50's or 60's now, but I mean... GEEZ!! I want the new eps of Inu Yasha now and they don't have them on DVD till AS shows them thrice and the same with the manga (although I did find a really good online manga that's really far http://www.wot-club.org.uk/Inuyasha/ ), I'm really peeved because I can't find any of the 3 Inu Yasha movies anywhere!! GRRRRR!!

Well, when I was younger, I wanted to be a vet.. and a doctor... and a whole bunch of different things.. I even wanted to be a professional ice skater(even though I'd never been skating be for)... I now realise my true calling is to be 4 or 5 things throughout my adult life. Which I will accomplish. Right after hs, I am going to college and getting a masters in English and Ancient World (or Japanese) history. Then I will become a teacher in grade school. After, or to work my way through college, I will write... Nothing big, most likely childrens stories or young adult fiction (Robert Asprin, my idol!!) I will also become a va, just once...That's all it takes to make me happy... Hell I don't mind if I do a voice over for a damn tv commercial, just as long as I do it once...I also want to be a linguist and help translate for some company.

GEEZ!! Who thought up this thread!? I have sooo many quotes that I love and... well... quote all the time... I mean this kind of thread is just asking for mile long posts from every person! Normally I'd start quoting all the way..but I simply can't do that... this post... So someone post after me and the next time I check this thread, I will end up typing posts for about an hour 1/2 to two hours... (which is why I can't do it now...I'm at school)

I myself prefer the American dubs... The dubs flow much easier and you don't miss anything if someone is speaking really fast... It's very challenging trying to watch an anime and reading subs at the same time (obviously I'm a novice... only an anime addict for 1 1/2 years). Besides, if we decided to go all the way over to subs, what would happen to our favorite va's? I mean they'd all be put out of jobs and everyone'd be sad... No one to do cool anime va-ing..Only Disney va-ing... which doesn't really count... I mean it sorta does... but not really...So yeah... defenately the dubed versions for me^^
My parents really have serious issues with me watching anime. They think that it affects my schoolwork (Ooh. Watching deep and involving plots is ruining my BRAIN...). They also think that I am antisocial because of it (Avoiding the "Cool Kids" because of their lower intelligence level HARDLY constitutes antisociality...). They try to revoke my anime priveledges as often as possible, and I haven't been ungrounded for (what is it now...) 2 years (I access the computer from school. My parents don't know.). They probably are like the typical american "Anti-Cartoon" parents. They blame everything on TV shows and Comic Books, and nothing on psychological stability, physical and mental stress, etc. To get to the Anime Expo, I had to pay for the gas (we drove), the expo (obviously), half of the hotel room cost (Are they bloody INSANE?), and had to convince them that "Hey, it's my birthday present". Well, I'm done griping for now. My parents aren't horrible. They let me buy anime (as long as they don't have to pay squat for it) and manga occasionally, but they still need to lighten up. Well. Yay. I'm done. I think I'll go off and join a drug ring or something just to SPITE them. Sayanora!
Well I do have to say you sound exactly like my friends at school... All their parents hate anime as well... minus one or two... Anyway... You're funny... But that's not the point either...The point is.. Well that not all American parents are "Anti-Cartoon" parents... My father was hooked on 'toons for a very long time... And my mom doesn't have a problem with cartoons because she likes to watch them too..Well sorta just because I won't let her change the channel...But mom loves 'Courage the Cowardly Dog' and 'The Power Puff Girls' and other such "American" cartoons... But I don't think that joining a drug ring is the right way to spite your parents... maybe for the rest of their lives you should give them some really bad... crappy anime... or something... with a note saying exactly how much youlove and care about them... How much they mean to you for all their years of 'hard work' and 'loving guidance' away from all 'bad'(anime/toon) influences.

The Seperation of Church and State
maikiratori replied to PrincessGoneral's topic in General Discussion
Normally I don't get into these kind of discussions because it stirs a whole can of worms and people get heated. But I say to every person their own. These kind of discussions are pointless because the two sides of the argument are the same and nothing new is said, no new points are made, and neither side usually wants to bend to anything the other says. Feelings about thses things are so strong that no one wants to try and understand another's point of view. However, from what I've read, most people here have been relatively open-minded, but I'd like ot ask one question: Why whas this thread started in the first place? I understand wanting to know what others think and feel and believe, but why dose one ask questions that will get heated answers? -
No, my parent's love anime. Of coarse, they only love anime cuz they can't get away from it. I've gotten them hooked. I mean I have to tape all eps of Witch Hunter Robin for my mom whenever she's not gonna be able to watch it. First I got my mom hooked on Inu Yasha and after that... Well I guess she just can't stop, like me.. Though she's not nearly as obsessed as I am.. I mean I go out and by manga weekly and the corresponding anime monthly (if I have the money). My dad even said that if he had enough money he would get me plastic sergery, so I could have the 'anime look' as he put it. Though I'm not quite so sure that I'd like to be that extreme of an anime fan. I mean I love anime and all... But that's too much for me (right not). I love my parents because they both encourage my anime fandom!
