I have about an hour to kill before my husband gets online assuming he's back from the Green Zone today. That said I really want to reply to Undeafeated here since I have a bit of an issue with what he said.
Of course money is more important than self respect. What the **** does all the self respect in the world do for you if you are starving? Jobless? Unsheltered? Naked (lack of clothing)? Although I am not suggesting that money is more important than morality, and the cause never justifies the means. You gotta start somewhere... you cannot make your stand on sinking sand.
I hope you're joking when you suggest that it's more important to have pleanty of money but not an ounce of integrity than to have no money, but your diginity in tact. Because what does your money mean when you have no friends do to your lack of self respect and trying to be someone you're not? Oh and I love the way you contradicted yourself at the end by saying that you weren't saying that money was more important than morality.
(By the way, we are taught as children that men do women and women do men. There are no other legitimate options..)
Well, true that was how the majority of us may have been taught as children that it took a man and a woman to make a baby. But that just means we're in the majority. I also know of people who were raised by same sex couples and grew up to lead normal lives. That said, I know some pretty screwed up children raised by heterosexual couples, what do you say to that? Saying that there are no other legitimate options for love or sex (because at times the two can be quite interchangeable) is like saying that the reason two people get married is to produce children and there are no other legitimate options. Would you have a man and a woman getting married to then have to promise to reproduce? And if they wouldn't or couldn't would you say that the marriage would be considered invalid?
If I was a parent and my son told me he was gay, I would be fine with it. But he sure as hell wouldn't get another penny from me. I'd invite him to move out on his 18th birthday, and ask that he never contact me again. I'd never stop loving my son, but I could not in any way justify to myself supporting a bad choice (or even, if you think it isn't a choice, bad genes).
I pity your children. How can you say you would be fine with his choice then refuse to speak to your child and force him to move out of the house? You can't honestly say that would be fine with you if you were ready to cut all ties with your family. In my opinion I think that it's pretty stupid to call homosexuality a choice. Who the hell in their right mind would want to chose to be part of a group which faces so much ridicule? As an expectant parent, if my daughter came to me about 16 years down the road and told me she thinks she may be a lesbian I'd probably look at her say, 'Make sure to bring your girlfriend over for dinner and tell her to clean her room. I don't consider myself supporting a 'bad choice'. I consider this supporting my child.
But I digress, as far as the acting goes, if he doesn't respect his parents code of morality, then why would he mind setting them up for a bigger fall later? Sorry to tell you, but this is a dog eat dog world.
I'm not sure how to reply to this except to say that some parents have a pretty screwed up idea of morality. I'm not talking about my beliefs as a parent. Although I'm sure a few of you may say I have weak morals or none at all, but some parents beat the crap out of their children and say that it's in the Bible. My grandmother thought it was her moral duty to give her children a diluted dose of medication for spinal menigitis. Should her children have gone along with that?
Do you believe the sacrificing of virgins is evil? (or any human sacrifice)
This question is oh-so relevent because we know that all people with homosexual tendancies along with those who are open to those with homosexual tendancies go out and sacrifice virgins on a regular bsais. But I guess I should point out that some early cultures sacrificed virgins to dieties to help crops grow and such. They saw what they were doing as a religious practice, not as evil.
I would bet you millions of dollars you'd say yes. AND YOU ARE BEING CLOSEMINDED!
Actually, I had to point out about tribal religions since you may not have been fortunate enough to study anything about anthropology. By the way, that sentance was badly worded
Do you believe the practice of foot-binding is a bad thing?
Again we're talking about something done by another culture whose practice has since faded from use. If you want to try relevence to today's issues, I'd suggest bringing up genital mutilation. It's current and I find that practice rather archaic. Yet, it's part of a culture.
Are you closeminded when you refuse to play Russian Roulette?
Actually I'd consider myself being a sane minded individual not to play Russian Roulette.
If you can be physically "closeminded", how would you dare to presume that his parents haven't the right to be morally "closeminded"?
The virgin sacrifices and foot binding were parts of people's culture I don't know how to argue that without you saying that maybe homosexuality will be eliminated as these practices were but I'll give it a go. People were integrated into different societies and cultures over time and that's how these practices were eliminated. I don't think you can ever be able to say teh same about a person's sexual orientation.
A perception of truth doesn't change anything. Without absolutes, the world cannot exist!
I'm going to pretend that you made some sense up there and reply. If you have a perception of the truth based on facts, that can change heresy to become absolute undisputed truth . And as I've said to you on prior replies, I hope some day you cease to be shallow brained and join the rest of us in the thinking world. Seriously sometimes I think high school rots your brain.
Get off of your high-horse and look reality in the eyes.
[colordarkviolet]I would suggest that you take some of your own advice and do the same. Not bad for being well past midnight eh?

I'm into things involving intellect. Oh and maybe some things that could get my license suspended, I drive about twenty miles over the speed limit shh! I'm also a lover of sarcastic wit. The kind that's slightly cutting, but at least well thought out. I don't like when person just acts rude to feel cool or get attention. Infact I find that quite infantile and then I have this sudden urge to do bad things to such people. I enjoy a well thought out debate and discussuions where two people or more respect eachothers opinions but it's still pretty good. If I can agree to disagree with someone and they will respect my opinions, I think I can still get along with such a person even if I find him or her too conservative at times. I also enjoy good spelling and grammar. Okay, so sometimes a few letters of mine are screwed up, but I don't get online until after midnight most times, so I deserve a break. I do try to fix such things. Well, that's me in a nutshell except for the obvious horseback riding, anime, reading, and writing diversions. Oh and driving and shopping. I have more, but that would just be adding on to make my post look longer.

Okay, first off I was not having much fun deciphering your posts because I am of the firm belief that with very few exceptions (IE: RPGs, BSSM, FYI and Ex) words should be written out for messageboard topics. That said I can get down to business. You're 13 years old, you don't need a boyfriend all you need are some close friends and some kind of support that doesn't leave you thinking that you need some kind of romantic involvement in order to be happy. I'd say you're too young, but that would mean that I'm a hypocrite and I don't like that feeling. What I'll say instead is that besides thinking that you can only be with one certain type of guy, you also seem to think that having a boyfriend is the only way to be completely happy. If you believe that mess you'll more likely than not be heading for a burn out the minute you break up with your first boyfriend. I think the best course of action for you to take now is to try and make up with that guy friend of yours because there's nothing worse than messing up a good friendship with a messed up romance.

I may sound like I'm about to set the clock back a few decades or whatever, but rest assured I'm not. Women don't have as much upper body strength as men. I don't know how they figure the running thing into PT tests and such, but the women's fast group in a usual army run (which is 2 miles) is equal to men's slow group. However, most women I know are quite a bit more flexible than the men I know. If that has any logical bearing. As for separate bathrooms, I feel that's more of a privacy issue than anything else. I know of women who can't go to the bathroom when there are other women in the same bathroom. I doubt those same women would be able to go to the bathroom if there was a man in the room. Plus there's a whole safety issue. Besides, (slightly off topic) I've been in a men's room before and I think the women's rooms are much cleaner. As for age issues. Well, I can tell that some people don't really think all that much when they reply to topics on the board. But sometimes I think that has less to do with age and more to do with knowledge or maturity level. I'm not sure that all of us really need to put up our gender specifics on this board since it's not a dating site or anything of the like. Hell, I really don't care if you think I'm a woman or not. Although I'm afraid I'd make a rather awful straight guy with my screen name and everything. I've experianced the whole predjudice thing against young adults. It's not the most enjoyable experiance I've ever witnessed. My husband and I went to a gas station to ask for directions. I went in first and he stayed in the car. The lady I asked was an elderly woman maybe 20 years younger than my mama and maybe 130 times less polite than she could ever be. I went back out to the car, told my husband and he went in. She was even ruder to him and I probably shouldn't say what he did as well drove off (not obscene or anything to do with defacing property. but CallMeGoddess might be able to guess) I'm of the general perception that people are polite until I get to talk to them or whatever. The lady at the gas station was such an exception I was ready to call her boss and tell her or him hwo rude she was to me a customer. I try my best not to make assumptions about people young or old. Because when you assume something you make an *** out of u and me. Okay, I have a question to ask the populace of Otakuboards. Has anyone felt that they were discriminated against because of physical apperance or treated differently because of it? Or maybe treated differently because of religious beliefs?

I came up with another one while I was in the library and then I looked and realized I'd never mentioned her before. Mistress9 from SailorMoonS Why not? Because she'd be driving me crazy for one thing constantly arguing with Tomoe Hotaru who really wants her body back. I can't immgine how much fun that would be. However I couldn't tell Mistress9 to shut up and quit arguing with herself because if I did that she'd more likely than not try to strangle me with her hair and that would be bad for business. Oh and did I mention she's evil? Yes she is, very evil. She took over Hotaru's body after
Hotaru was injured in a lab accident which killed her mother and also wounded her father
The woman is from another dimension and wants to help the evil entity from that demension take over the world. Of course, on the plus side she did get someone to take ChibiUsa's pureheart crystal so the pink haired devil spawn did almost die!
I also have a comment for that: The mix of the black hair and aqua/bluish hair genes could easily combine into the result of lavender hair. That is just my reasoning. *shrugs*[/color']
But...can you explain why Ikuko mama and Kenji papa from SailorMoon look nothing like Usagi and Shingo? Ikuko mama has bluish purple hair and Kenji papa has black hair and wears glasses. Usagi has light blonde hair and Shingo has dirty blonde hair. Neither child wears glasses. But yes, I know they're just drawings. Besides if you want to get really broad and consider all variations of animation and not catergorize since technically anime is cartoons. (moving drawings people, sorry) I can bring up Rugrats. In the All Grown up series especially the kids begin to resemble their parents with the exception of phil and Lil. Unless you count their mom's hair color. Plus Stu and Dru do look a but like their dad.

Anime Divorce Court: Worst Anime Couples!
ChibiHorsewoman replied to MillieFan's topic in Otaku Central
Kikyo and InuYasha Yes once a long time ago these two were in love. However, Kikyo kind of died and when she died she died hating InuYasha. Why did she die hating InuYasha? Because she believed that he had betrayed her. Folks if you can't trust a person there isn't much hope for a strong relationship is there? That's why I don't think Kikyo and InuYasha would last a second time around. Short, yes, but would you look at the time? -
I've been out for a few days so I'm going to celebrate my return with a big post! Luckily it will make sense.
Actually, we had support from our allies; just not all of them. And, I'm sorry, but France just sucks. with a passion. As for the "credibility" issue, it's actually irrelevent; I wouldn't go to a war just for that. However, the war does give the US credibility; the president said we would do something, and we did. After eight years of empty threats, it's rather refreshing.
We didn't have support from Russia, Germany or France. In less than two weeks we lose Spain for sure and possibly a few other countries. Have you ever been to France? Okay neither have I unless you count the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, but it's kinda crappy to say taht a whole country sucks for not wanting to go to some foriegn country, but I'm sure if we give them a few years and someone invades them again they'll turn around right? Perhaps I was living under a rock before the currant Bush administration, but I don't seem to recall Clinton ever saying he was going to invade Iraq in the eight years he was president. Give me a few minutes, my husband may be online soon so maybe he could have me tell you if he as a service member thinks that this war is credible. Since I sure can't.
Your logic is flawed; do you hate FDR for getting us into WWII?
Your US History books as well as your World History books are flawed. Thee Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on the 7th of December 1941 and FDR retaliated by joining the allied forces to defeat a known enemy. Iraq never attacked us, we were already in Afghanistan where we have determined that Al Queda was located therefore, Bush got us into this war. You can't really compare G.W. Bush and F.D. Roosevelt. Rooselvelt got us out of a depression and Bush is helping us get into one.
Maybe you don't know why, but survey data clearly shows that the men and women actually fighting the war know why. Not only is the militarily vastlysupports the war (almost twice as many who supported opperations in Bosnia), but the vast majority of the military personal survied said they would vote for President Bush.
You and I must have read different surveys or spoke to different soldiers. A few soldiers that I know who I spoke with at hood have no clear idea why they were sent to IRaq and have said they wouldn't vote for BUsh. A friend of mine who worked with my husband stateside said that she may have voted for Bush sr if he ran again but she wouldn't vote for his son. I doubt that some of these men and women coming back from Iraq will feel the same way towards their president as they did prior to being deployed.
I'm surprised and a little dissappointed in you, CHW. As the wife of a serviceman, surely you realize that such comparisons are horribly demoralizing for deployed troops. REmember, the Tet offensive was a victory for the Viet Cong even though it was a military disaster for them; they didn't win a single battle except in the minds of the American people.
If you think that's bad you should hear how I talk to Lincoln. JK. He knows how I feel and he respects that point of veiw. We've had quite a few debates about such matters. The point is I tell Lincoln that I'm proud of him for going over instead of what some people we know have done. The battle of Bunker Hill was considered a defeat for the Americans and a victory for the British even though it was considered disastorous since the British lost so many troops. Your point is what? You're basically giving an example of a military conflict which ended in countless MIAs KIAs and eventually a retreat by the US after the fall of Saigon. Great example.
Wow, that was sexist.
Yeah, but did you read what Undefeated wrote above my reply? They say fight fire with fire right?
On many issues, yes, it is. However, President Bush has been consistant on his stance on these issues, while John Kerry has flipped like a pancake on most of them.
I read an article in either Newsweek or Time magazine on Tuesday saying that Kerry was definately pro-choice. This decision on his part has made a bishop from MIssori decide that Kerry shouldn't be allowed to receive communion which is quite important to the Catholic faith. Bush is still largely pro-life which makes me want to vote for Kerry.
I'm gonna play Devil's Advocate for a second: If you're against the above, you don't consider it a woman's righ to reproduce, you consider it a child's right to live. You also aren't opposed to gay marrige because it's neccessarily immoral, but because it's impossible by the definition of marrige.
Try telling a rape victim who just found out she's pregnant that she has no right to an abortion and see how far you get. When taking a stand on a subject concerning such heavy topics you should usually try to weigh both sides and see what you get in the outcome. For example I belive that if Bush got his way and Roe vs Wade was overturned you'd have more women dying from illegal abortions which are performed without any medical guidelines instead of legal abortions which are relatively safe. As for the whole Gay Marriage stand, I look at it this way: Brittany Spears was allowed to get married drunk back in January and got the thing annuled about 36 hours later. Jennifer Lopez is on her third marriage. and we won't even go there with all the other celebraty marriages and divorces. Yet these people are allowed to get married simply because they're heterosexual. If you look at it this way with so many people who treat marriage as just some publcity stunt why shouldn't two people who simply want to get married because they're in love I say let them do it since so many drunken hetros do it! I think Brittany was more of a threat to the sanctityy of marriage than anyone in California could hoppe to be.
No; disagreeing with me does. ~_^
Okay, I just wanted to make sure before I began making plans for the afterlife
And your support for this is...? He's not Catholic, you know.
Call it a hunch. You get rid of one thing, soon you'll get rid of another
However, not everything needs changing; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.[/QUOTE} But some things in this country are very broke and need fixing. And some changes should be made before we keep going down this spiral. Even if it takes years to do.
Yes, yes it would. Gracias, senora. ^__^
YOu only put that quote in as some sort of self gratyfication, didn't you?
Then why don't we give them positive support instead of dumping all this crap on them? Who do you think is doing the crap dumping? You can still support the soldiers in the war and not the war itsself, there's a big difference. I didn't start hating my husband or my friend's husband or any of my husband's friends for going over to Iraq, I just really began to hate the war when I saw what it did to people. Oh should I actually enjoy an institution which causes a friend of mine to commit herself because she suffers a vervous breakdown?
Ask a soldier in iraq if he cares what France has to say.
I did, he wanted to know if they were going to send some of their wine over as thanks for something or other. I can't remember the whole conversation. And perhaps you should add she to that. Because I asked one of his co-workers prior to deployment and she said she'd just as soon send back the brie
No he didn't
Same magazine I read on Tuesday. Rumsfeld declared the detanies at Guantanamo Terrorists and therefore exempt from the conventions. There is also question as to if the military may have already begun okaying tourture such as being stripped, intimidation and forced sleep loss.
The devil we don't know doesn't even have a road map.
And the devil we do know has an old crinkled unreadable roadmap which needs some serious renovation. I think we need a few more choices!
If the US went into iraq for oil...then where is it?
Fueling the Humvees and Abrams tanks over there...or the camels. I've been doing a lot of thinking about those stupid camels lately. IF you really want to know I think it's in Rumsfeld's hair. And dammit all if I spent two hours on this and didn't get any replies from the military POV
My mother always told me that in most social situations, the two things you should never discuss are religion and politics, because everyone has a different view, and they hold them strongly.
My mom just says I shouldn't discuss religion or politics with my paternal grandmother because she'll tell me I need to see an exorsist since I have such liberal views on topics and dissagree with her about everything. My grandma, not my mom. Anyone else is fair game. Of Course that's completely off topic so I'll just go with what I can say. If your friend decides not to be friends with you because of religion, then your friend is obviously a shallow brained lump. However, if your friend has decided to not be your friend due to circumstances such as destroying personal property or acting like an arrogant dominating uh...person and has decided to site religion as the cause for breaking your friendship perhaps what needs to be done is for you to re-examine your personality. On the grounds of religion and friends, I also don't feel that belonging to a different religion than a friend should make much of a difference. (Barring of course circumstances such as extremist religions since I'm quite sure I don't want to be brain washed, but thank you for considering me) My best friend is Eastern Orthodox Christian. When I met her I was still Roman Catholic. We had pleanty to discuss such as 'why do you celebrate Christmas in spring/winter?' And why do you/ don't you get dressed up for church?' And don't even get me started on relationships and religion because I know you really don't have to be the same religion to fall in love or whatever. My point is that as long as you don't go out every day and try to convert your friends. Not only will they remain your friends, but you can have many lengthy and civil discussions about religion. Those can be fun for the whole family if done right. Anyone care to debate me on the subject?

It depends on if you want one from dub, sub or both. Because at times the anime characters have varying levels of annoyance. For permanent annoyance my vote is for ChibiUsa/Rini/Small Lady Serenity/ SailorChibiMoon/ Sailor Mini MOon/ Ect ect. Yes, I understand that some people may like her and think she's a cute little 2-d character, but I think she's some kind of evil. Her attacks are weak, she's nasty to all the inner senshi including Usagi/SailorMoon who's risking her butt for the pink haired spore. Oh and she's a klepto. Not a very good roll model for children if you ask me. Most annoying Dub I'd have to say is Miaka because of her voice. She sounds like a valley girl. I just want to gag her with a spoon and shove her in a microwave for all the times she mooned after Tamahome and just said Tamahome all the time. Annoying sub: Filia from slayers. I don't really know why, but her voice got to me after a while. Tip from 3:00 AM EST. When you ask a question like this give your own opinion to start a conversation.

Lost prophet, welcome back! HOw's AIT (or whatever) treating you?) I graduated in '99 they played our school song and Pomp and Circumstance. I think my favorite memory of the whole thing was was when this prissy girl who was always picking on me tripped on her stupid spice girl shoes. I still watch the video for that. Walking down the stage was fun. My class graduated at the War Memorial in the same place where the Amerks play hockey. I was just happy to be out of there. Best of luck to all of you. The kids in my area just started Final Exams and don't graduate until 24, June as always Hey, Vegitto. Have fun being a jarhead and grunt all at once! Sorry, military humor-bad military humor. One more thing! Don't call your sergeants sir, they'll all tell you that they work for a living.

What TV shows did you watch as a kid?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
Did anyone besides me watch She-Ra along with He-Man? Okay and if you watched it did you ever think that Adam had a thing for his sister (Can't think of She-ra's actual name) when they met in that movie? I had She-ra action figures along with that Catra lady who I thought was kind of pretty even if she was a villain. That was the way my brain worked when I was five. For a while She-ra was Barbie's little sister, but that's off the record. Power Rangers came out when I was in 7th grade, so I was spared watching that until I watched my cousins. :flaming: I loved Rainbow Bright tho. I still have my Puppy Bright plushie. I used tohave all the Colored Kids and Rainbow Bright, but I donated them to my parent's church's nursery. I have to agree that Thunder Cats was evil. And what's with only having one female character? Her weapon was a friggin' stick! -
What people should try to realize is that there are good and bad parts to every presidency (The jury is still out on what the good parts of this (the BUsh) administration is, but we're pretty sure there's something besides the way he handled 9/11) Reagan did help the United States and Russia come together and finally ended the cold war which had lasted since the 1950's that's something to recommend him. And he did try his best to do something about the economic problems of his time. But Iran Contra was a bit of a set back. His administration faced accusations of breaking the arms trade embargo to Iran. http://www.webcom.com/pinknoiz/covert/icsummary.html There was also trickle down ecomnomics and de regulation. But politics aren't to be thought about when a person dies no matter what has happened. Unless of course you're Jerry Fowell and you want to go protest a gay man's funeral reguardless of the fact that he was beaten to death because of people like you. I've a question now, do you think that closing government buildings on Friday was necessary since the man who died was a former president ane not serving in office at the time of his death? And since that was done for this former president shouldn't it be done for every other former president from here on out? I didn't really get a chance to form an opinion yet, but my mom thought it was a waste because they didn't do that for Johnson or Nixon adn she doesn't feel that they'll do it for anyone else, definately not Clinton. So, what are your takes on that?

Tattoos, piercings, body mods
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
There are a few places I think a tattoo would be all right (though I still don't think I'll ever get one), and the foot is one of them. But you should keep in mind how very painful a foot tattoo is to get ... because the skin there is so thin and all. The good thing about there is that it probably won't expand/contract very much, since your feet don't really change size. I like the idea of having hidden surprises ... er, yeah. That's why I think a foot tattoo or lower back tattoo would be the best places to get one, too ... I don't usually like things that are obvious just from looking at someone.
True your foot doesn't expand all that much on a normal basis, but a friend of mine has a small heart tattooed onto her foot and when I first met her she was pregnant-very pregnant (9 months pregnant and she had her daughter a few days after I met her.) The doctor had made her take extra magnesium so her feet were swollen along with her ankles. That tattoo was rather stretched out, but after she had the baby her feet did finally go back to normal. She even has ankles now. I have to agree that a tattoo that can be easily hidden is probably the best way to go unless you're so proud of it (either because you designed it yourself or it's in honor of someone like your children or a family member) that you really want to show it off and in that case I would put it somewhere like on my forearm or somewhere else where people could see it. Leaving a little to the immagination is always a good thing. I'm not much of an extremist when it comes to piercings or tattoos. So far the only one I have is about the size of a 1/2 dollar and can be hidden by most of my bra stap during the summer. I used to have three holes in my ears, but the third ones have closed up again and I don't always use the second holes. I also had the cartiledge pierced in my left ear, but that may have closed up since I haven't worn anything in there for a year. I know for a fact my hole for my eyebrow ring closed up because I went to put in my contacts yesturday and all I saw was scar tissue over my right eye. But like I keep saying, I'm going to get it redone later. Maybe I'll do the cartiledge as well. Tattoos and piercings are pretty nice in my opinion and in some cultures they're symbols of their upbringing. However, if that's not the case with you I'll just say everything in moderation. I wish my brother would pay attention to that phrase, his goal is to have 20 tattoos by the time he's 21. He's up to three already so he only has about 17 to go and less than two years to reach his goal because he's already 19 and he'll be 20 in November. -
I think that immigrants should be offered the choice of learning English when they move here since it's the main language in the country. In the places I've lived and visited there were only a very limited number of bilingual street signs and most of them were few and far between. Of course, most of them were in Spanish and english, but I haven't been to Canada in years! Immigrants who don't chose to learn english are limiting themselves, but we're not forcing them to come, go or learn english anyway. I do think that more americans should attempt to become bilingual since our increased trade with foreign countries and the fact that more and more americans travel abroad has necessitated such a movement. Plus an increase in immigrants has made it so you may have to be bilingual to get driving directions at a gas station in Downtown Austin. (True story) Many people consider americans ignorant or stupid because the majority of us can only master english or think we're too good to speak another country's language. I'm not going to get into the moral debate thing. Morals are interchangeable for everyone.

I don't really know what to do in a situation such as this one. I think the best advice I could give is try to talk to your parents about it and explain that you're still the same person, just with different veiws than they have. That's the best I can do for you. I don't know what your community's like though. If it's like the one I lived in in Texas then I'd seriously get one of your girl friends to pretend to be your girlfriend, but if you live in a more liberal or densely populated area where people have been exposed to things like homosexuality then maybe you can get by being who you are. I think though in the long run, instead of trying out my advice, I'd try James' first or who ever you think gave the best advice. I wish you the best of luck in where ever the situation takes you.

It's a bit of a trial to do this, but I may as well accept the challenge since there may be a test at the end of this somewhere and I want to be prepared. 1.) First and foremost: Queer Eye for the Straight Guy I really can't say enough about this show. I love what they do to the poor badly dressed straight guy. I love how Carson calls the guy Peanut. And how they talk about the 'straight guy speed shave' It's just my show! I want to have a show like that so I can make people over, boss them around and throw their furniture out the window. It's the closest I can come to being the world leader. :D 2.) I Love Lucy: Who doesn't? It's pretty much an American staple, the show is over 50 years old and people still watch it. This was the first sitcom to have an interacial (if you want to call it that) marriage, they slept in the same bed after a while and it was the first show to have the woman say 'I'm pregnant.' I think I may be a bit Biased for the show because Lucille Ball (I can't remember her real name) was born in Jameston, New York which is about an hour from where I live. Yes this show is not only a classic, but my second favorite ever. I just love her antics and everything. I also find it interesting that Vivian Vance and the guy who played Fred MErtze (I can't think of his name either) absolutely hated eachother. He was pretty nasty to her on stage. And the play that Lucy met Desi at was called 'Too many girls' and thet's how they got divorced. Oh and DesiLu is the company that released Star Trek. 3.) Rugrats: I can't give a very honest answer, but I've been watching the show since it came out on Nickelodian back in 2001 when I was 10 years old. Now it's 12 years later and I'm still watching it. I even saw two of the movies and I watch the All Grown up Series as well. Well, there you have my top three picks along with useless information. I hope this was fun for you

Gaming What was the first game console you ever used?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
Does anyone besides me remember this stupid NEwspaper boy game that Nintendo had? The object of the game was to get rid of all your papers by tossing them on lawns and if you didn't deliver the papers you lost customers, but if you did good you got more customers. I think there may have been more involved, but I don't remember, I just thought it was a screwed up game with just a boy, a bike and papers. Maybe teh occasional dog. I just remember playing that game and thinking, damn, I could do so much better than this. Oh and Oregon Trail. That game was just so I don't know what. I don't know if it was ever on a consol, but I remember it on an Apple computer. All my oxen died from exhuation and I think I may have made it to Oregon once. I also think one of my people died from small pox. One from starvation and one from exhaustion. Then they broke a wheel and I quit. So did anyone else play some of those games as a few of their first video games? -
I'm in a strange mood lately so let me be. I don't know what it is, maybe the fact that Rainbow Bright, Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake have become so mainstream now....Again. I remember watching these shows on TV back when you had to get up to change channels and cable was only just coming out and Nickelodian had their kids only weekend. I also remember that Strawberry shortcake had two really neat villains. Sour Grapes and the Peculiar Purple Pie Man from Porccupine Peak. I remember getting up early to watch Rainbow Bright and hoping that she wouldn't get too hurt by Murky and lurky on Saturday mornings. I also remember the whole Care Bear stare thing, but I forgot the bad guys in that show. Dang it. I also seem to vaguely remember watching some Barbie and the Rockers cartoon on HBO, but maybe I was halucinating because of the ritalin in my six year old body. Then of course there was Thunder Cats (which I can't stand to watch anymore) in pre-school. Everyone seemed to play that at pre-school. As for non animated, I liked you can't do that on television where they'd dump slime on people. I wanted them to dump slime on my brother and pop out of lockers like the kids on TV. Well, I said what I watched, now you guys. *re-reads post* damn I'm old!
I am a huge anime fan, I have a box of crayola markers, and a Lisa Frank kittens coloring book. Not to mention within the past month or so I've bought two My Little Ponys and a Barbie. You were saying? lol[/color']
I sit at my computer with my old puppy bright doll corrected. Hey if the old adage is you're only as old as you think you are is true, then how old are we really? I do have a memory that doesn't involve my head. I had been watching TMNT one day and decided to try the moves out myself. I ended up kicking in the plastic door of my little tykes kitchen oven and knocking it over. My mom wasn't very happy. The memories of that Little Tykes kitchen are very funny tho. I made the best Barbie doll casserole on the block! My mom said so

I read another summer vacation post and got to thinking about what a strange child I was. Then I got to thinking about how I'm a strange adult because I still watch cartoons, and anime and well, I color in coloring books. Then I started thinking about childhood memories that I have, the really strange ones. Here are a few of mine: When I was eight my brother and I went sledding in New York's Southern Tier where my dad goes hunting. We were going down this big hill and I ran head first into a tree. That same year we were sledding at Highland Park and I ran head first into the statue of Frederick Douglas. I also scraped my chin on the ice at the bottom of the hill, that hurt. When I was seven I was playing barbies with my brother and his ninja turtles along with some other dolls that sufficed as barbie pupils. My brother got mad at me and threw Leonardo at my head. As you can tell many child hood memories involve my head being attacked. It's amazing how well I function today all things considering. How about everyone else?

Summertime and the living get's lazy
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Doukeshi's topic in General Discussion
It's simply illogical for a person who has to work 12 months out of the year to have a summer vacation so I can't really say what I'll be doing for summer vacation. However maternity leave is kind of like summer vacation, right? So I'll be taking care of a baby for that. And for the first two weeks I'll be counting the minutes until I can drive again. Oh for the days when I was still in school and all I had to think about when I got out in June was how far would my parents drive this year to go camping and where would we go. And if we'd have to deal with skunks and racoons who scare small children when they get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. (the kids not the racoons going to the bathroom) Damn it I want to be a kid again! :bawl: -
I know what Omar Harris means. So many people, regardless of others, have a hate towards the dubbed Sailor Moon. I also was introduced to Sailor Moon that way and I don't understand what they have against the dubbed.
I feel quite the opposite. The dub (at least the north american dub, which was also shown ini England and Australia) completely screwed up the entire storyline plus they removed many traces of Japanese culture and didn't translate anything correctly. Oh and they gave out sex changes to two of the characters (Zoicite and FishEye) so they didn't have any negative homosexual characters. Then they made Haruka and Michiru's normal relationship into some kind of twisted cousin thing. (Okay, maybe some people don't consider homosexuality normal, but it's normal to homosexuals) Yes the dub brought Sailor Moon to the English speaking populace, but look at what they did to it. And no they won't bring Stars over or even release it in the US on subtitled DVDs becuase of all the lovely sex changing that happens when the Sailor Star Lights do their transformation. My advice to people who don't know why some people don't like the dub, buy one of the DVDs that's billingual. watch the dubbed then watch the subbed and tell me what you think. (C'mon CWi tried to pass off Amara as a boy's name in an episode of SMS) And don't even get me started on name changes!

What do you find attractive? [Threads merged]
ChibiHorsewoman replied to MaxSonic's topic in General Discussion
Smart. Well, she doesn't need to know the whole damp in the history- -logy -graphy books. You may not now a lot of stuff and still be an interesting person. Learning helps to develop your brains, for sure... Anyway, not totally dumb. Just interesting. Interesting is the keyword
I have to agreee with you here ocean. You can't go through life acting like an idiot-unless you're Jessica Simpson and think it's cute because it's what guys like. I can't stand people who can't contribute more than three words to a conversation. That's just plain annoying. For the love of everything get an opinion even if it's a stupid one! Physically attractive, well, I stil lfind dark hair and dark eyes attractive even after all these years. Body type: Well built, but not overly muscled. If he can't put his arms at his sides without making his pecks pop out, it's too scary. Plus all those veins  I like guys with a nice smile, even if it's a goofy smile. Race, religion, family background (including a family so disfuntional it belongs on Jerry Springer or a soap opera) Not too much of a problem for me. Race: I've dated outside of my race Religion: I originally married outside of mine before converting (if you actually call it that) family background: I once told my husband half jokingly that he should write a fiction book loosely based on his childhood and he agreed with me. All and all what you see in that picture is what I find attractive -
Tattoos, piercings, body mods
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
LMAO, my boyfriend says he wants his belly button peirced just to scare the girls xD Like one of those scenarios where one goes 'Who's got their belly peirced?' and a whole buncha girls show them off. Personally, it'd scare me, but he looks good with anything. I bet he would even look good in drag (I hate him! I hate him! I hate him!).

I was thinking about maybe an eybrow one, those look kinda nice and all, or even maybe an belly-button peircing...I'll be the first guy in my group of friends to get one. But I bet they'll freak out and stuff, lol....but I'm really into the idea of getting a navle (sp?) peircing :) ~Laters
Naval rings are one of the hardest to clean piercings. They get infected really easily. My husband got his done and his got so nasty he ended up taking it out and he's like the cleanest most sanitary person I know of. He showers once a day, sometimes even twice. Still his got infected. Another girl I used to work with also got her naval done and suddenly it got all itchy and hard. She went back to the guy to get it loked at and when he removed the ring all this pus came out with it. really nasty. So if you're getting a naval ring, be really careful. I had an eyebrow ring and I'm getting it redone after the baby is born. (You can't get tattoos or piercings while you' re pregnant) Mostly becuase I figure after the pain of childbirth they could pierce me down there and I wouldn't make too much of a fuss. (okay, maybe not down there but I could probably get my nipples done and not yell too much) Eyebrow rings are kind of fun, but it's weird for a while because you have to get used to seeing this peice of metal out of the corner of your eye. Also you have to make sure not to get things caught on it (IE T-shirts, hair, your brush) and from my experiance you can't lay on the side that's pierced for a while because of the pressure. However, your eyebrow will swell and turn pretty colors of red, yellow blue and purple. If you get one remember to move it around once in a while and clean it with anti bacterial soap 3 times a day or you'll get some nasty yellow pus coming through the hole. So ends my advice today. Next time why you shouldn't let your friends stick needles in your ears.
